Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

If this isn't right then does that mean I failed?
[attr="class","prism-onebody"]For a mere teenage girl, Dani had a lot of responsibilities to balance. For the most part things seemed to line up so that when school was busier her other extra curriculars settled down and visa versa, which was nice because when both did happen to be busy at the same time it left her with very little room to pause and take a breath. Today she had been busy with student council and cheer into the late afternoon and she had finally settled down to look at her schoolwork at home at 5 o'clock.
It was a complete stroke of luck that the living room happened to be quiet - a rarity in the bustling Blane household - so she sat on the couch as she took notes from her textbook for her physics class. She hated science, so it required more attention to her other classes but... As she tried to focus on the pages she found her mind wandering to the steps of the latest routine they'd been learning at cheer practice instead. The material was just so dry. There was nothing to engage with at all and it was making her head hurt.
Almost indignantly she tugged the ponytail out of her hair and shook it out so it fell flat before once more staring at the one damned sentence of the text she couldn't focus through. It was something about enthalpy and thermodynamics but as she attempted to read it over again those two words were all that stuck. If she could physically fight a book she would.
After about ten minutes during which she made it through a total of two paragraphs she huffed and shut the book. Maybe if she tried again later she'd be able to focus better. For now it just felt like a waste of her time. Instead, she pulled out her planner and scanned over her other upcoming assignments.
She glanced up and her eyes fell on her green haired father sitting across the room. "Hey dad, are you busy?" she asked. "I have this assignment for school where I'm supposed to interview someone and write an article on them and I figure it'd be easier to do with family than anyone else. If not it's totally ok, it wouldn't be much trouble to find someone else."

[attr="class","cobbody"]Evenings spent in the peaceful reverie of children working on homework or spending time confined to their rooms was among the blissful moments. The gap between their arrival home and supper was an opportunity for Adonai to enjoy a recently purchased book on the viewpoints of bystanders during the War of Traitors. The recountings, while upsetting, were intriguing and a solemn reminder of why he left those "ideals" behind in favour of family. War was a ravaging creature, brutal and cruel to those swept within the crosshairs. The emotionally cold days of his early years were always a haunting thought. How war accomplished damages to himself.
A man closed off because of his parents' cruelty and desires to serve. Taught about the weapons in his hands and never the emotions captured within his heart and head. In those historic days of the war, Adonai was nothing, but a machine designed to slay the enemy without a second thought. Occasionally, he wondered what would have happened if his husband touched his life sooner. If they would have faced one another upon the battlefield with readied weapons or dropped arms in favour of something greater.
The actions of his youthful self were impossible to predict since leaving TRS and abandoning the efforts of war. In his youth, everything was about satisfaction to those above himself. Actions conducted out of his personal wishes for happiness in life were completely out of question. While nowadays, he would sacrifice his happiness for that of his family, there was always a pang of joy in each action. In witnessing his husband's shining smile or the contentment glittering in the eyes of his children. Those became the precious things he would safeguard for the rest of his existence on this plane.
His green eyes scanned through words as the gentle hum of the television played whatever news was on. It was quiet, nothing significant enough to draw away attention, but enough for welcomed background noise. Within the living room, his daughter steadily worked on her homework. A hardworking student and young busybody, Daniella was one of Adonai's children who worked tirelessly in school. As she grew up, Adonai found the young girl was fixated on assuring excellence in the field of education, and Adonai supported her whenever the opportunity came about.
Regularly, she fixated on her homework until completed, however, today her voice broke his attention. From the words, with a gentle 'hmm' Adonai's eyes glanced up towards Daniella. The mention of the article assignment caused the green-haired man to nod before placing a bookmark between the pages.
"Alright, I have no problems with it," the father of many answered.
He considered assistance with assignments requirements that arrived with him. He assumed the assignment may have been related to occupations or something similar, or perhaps even achievements. While Adonai masked many of his war honours and battle victories, achievements of the mundane could be favourable.
[attr="class","prism-oneheader prism-imgbg"]I spend so long questioning myself If this isn't right then does that mean I failed?
[attr="class","prism-onebody"]Daniella put school work above mostly everything else. She cared about doing her assignments and doing them well. She didn’t know how other people could not put their best effort into their assignments. It felt like half assing it would just be a waste of time. If that’s what she was going to do it seemed so much simpler to disregard the assignment altogether, which she would never do because she liked pushing her own limits when things got tough.
She smiled as her dad agreed to do the interview. She really didn’t feel like finding someone else. ”Ok good! Let me just make sure I have everything in order,” she muttered, quickly scanning the questions she’d been given as in a checklist. Some were required but others were suggestions, meant to guide the interview and subsequent article in the direction of a ‘how did you get to where you are today’ story. She realised as she looked through them that she didn’t actually know most of the answers. There was a lot of her family’s past that just never came up in conversation. Not that she would care to ask on her own. To her the past didn’t really matter. It was the present and how it could shape the future that she focused on.
”Allllright!” she drew out the word as she finished shuffling around a few pieces of paper then pulled out her phone. ”I’ve got to record this so I don’t spend forever taking notes,” she explained as she navigated to the voice memos app. She skipped over the first few questions (basic things like ‘name’ and ‘age’ that she felt certain she already knew) before beginning. ”So first question, what do you actually do in your current job?” she asked.

[attr="class","cobbody"]The duties of a father were endless, and Adonai learned it daily in the activities he accomplished for his children. Rearing children was a difficult task, but one that summoned plenty of joy and achievement in the green-haired man’s life. He adored his children thoroughly and was proud of each. The fact Nitzan provided him with this precious opportunity was something he could never thank enough. From the eldest sister to the youngest child, Adonai discovered himself blissful about his life as a father. His family was a precious thing, something he never noticed in his older years under the tyranny of his parents.
A reward was received in the form of a smile across his daughter's lips. His lips returned the jovial curl as he gazed at the young redhead. Assisting his family was a crucial part of his fatherhood, thus, he enjoyed the notion of helping his daughter with her assignment. The formerly read piece of literature was placed on the small side table beside the chair, taking the small space beside his piney, warm tea. The father of many adjusted his position, straightening his back while his daughter organized the inquiries.
The phone placed on the table to record was practical, allowing his daughter to later organize the answers appropriately. Naturally, Adonai held no issues with her wishes to record the interview. The initial question was something simple regarding his occupation.
"I'm an informant for the Hallow Order. I gather information about criminals who need to be brought in and compile, organize and provide it to the bounty hunters. I take a portion of calls and discern what needs to maintain anonymity," he explained the bare bones of his job.
A majority of Adonai's occupation revolved around the gathering of information as required. Occasionally, he was required to journey out, but oftentimes, Adonai took calls for tips or spoke with field workers to compile their information. Said information would later be filed and given to according to bounty hunters. The entire process was excellent, though, thought of biasedly as the method allowed him to meet his husband. The Hallow Order's inner workings allowed for their meeting, and without Nitzan, Adonai would lack the wonders he appreciated nowadays.
[attr="class","prism-oneheader prism-imgbg"]I spend so long questioning myself If this isn't right then does that mean I failed?
[attr="class","prism-onebody"] Dani nodded. His description was nice and concise, although she wasn’t sure she understood what would really need to remain anonymous. She’d always thought that the mark of a good person was not hiding anything. Then again, even a murderer could be blatantly forthcoming about their actions and they still wouldn’t be a good person. Every rule had to have its exceptions.
She watched her father curiously for a moment. He wasn’t a bad person, she knew that. He cared for his family too much to not be a good person. He didn’t even snap at any of her siblings, even when they were being really annoying. Figuring out good vs bad was too complicated for her anyway. She wasn’t even sure she knew where she would fall on that spectrum. She was far too selfish in her own opinion, prioritising classes even if friends needed her attention too.
She blinked and returned her attention to the interview. “And, uh…” She didn’t like the phrasing of the next question so she took a moment to try to reword it in her mind. “Why did you chose to get into that field?” she asked. There would have to be follow up questions to actually cover everything this point was meant to get at, and she already started forming them as she waited for his response.
[attr="class","coblyrics"]i managed to survive every war now give me peace
[attr="class","cobbrace"]}
[attr="class","cobbody"]Naturally, the green-haired father expected additional questions related to his occupation. These were formalities with interview-type circumstances. Nonetheless, their children would receive similar streamlines given both parents worked for the Hallow Order. One being more frontline and the other a background worker. Curiosity flickered in Adonai’s green hues as he gave Dani a moment to proceed to the next question.
The following question summoned little thought, yet, he paused for a moment. Information was a task entered to escape the battlefields he was consumed by. After years of being a warrior, Adonai wished to abandon the world of combat. Thus, mentally he edited the answer lingering in the depths of his head to avoid the supposed valours of war he felt uncomfortable.
“I thought it would be interesting and a chance to apply my skills,” he began slowly, thinking. “Information is an interesting subject matter since you learn things you never expect after all. Connecting those strings for our frontline workers, like your other father, Nitzan, allows them to get criminals off the street. So naturally, it’s a rather engaging occupation that I could enjoy, hence why it became a good job for me.”
Certain factors are carefully hidden to avoid uncovering the past he cared naught about. War was a hellish creation, and while those who protected the innocent deserved honouring, he wished to avoid raising star-eyed valour-hungry children.
