Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

After meeting a tragic end by the hands of her own father, who cared more about the families name than his own daughter, who was engaged to another girl. Enyo came back to the land of the living seeking justice for her death and a possible remeeting and marriage to her former partner, Anais, however when she came back and found Anais engaged to her brother and the scheme to kill her was unveiled, she instead in a fit of rage poisoned the food during the wedding between Anais and her brother, leading to the Amadeus-Dinlas massacre. She went into hiding for a few years, watching her surviving family grow up, and was found by a man who'd heard about what she did and saught her out to help him in his own killings, she quickly grew fond of him and further learned about poisons, and grew to like him, only for him to wish to settle down, while Enyo grew more and more curious about poisons and murder.
She went out on her own and became a serial killer in America, going place to place while testing out poisons on drunks, and eventually settled down after coming to regret her actions in the mid 1800s, she studied to become a nurse and learn the ins and outs of medicene- and the truly lethal things it was capable of. She discovered a market for poisons and deadly goods amidst the violence and tension of the world and began supplying from where she worked to anybody who was willing to pay. She could hear about the effects in news reports and experiment as neccesary-
And maybe, maybe, she'll meet somebody like the man again. Someone like her Anais.
Possible Plots new ideas welcome to be debated!
Being both a nurse and a poisons dealer, Enyo can be juggled through a bunch of different plots. She on one hand can easily aid anybody who needs medical issues, working in a local clinic and having years worth of medical knowledge. Plots as a nurse, under her registered name 'Emma' could be anything from a scheduled health visit to her finding them injured on the street and helping them the best she can, to working a shift alongside them or being curious about new medical knowledge and wanting to learn more.
As a poisons dealer, she supplies to criminals under the alias 'Juliet', and can show them how to use poisons effectively and securely, or be a known dealer who theyve been working with for years, or be scouting out for new customers after a shift at work. Other situations could include anything to do with her dog form, perhaps a super cute interaction, a detective learning about the mass murders she's commited, or even just a chance encounter where her morbid curiosity could spark a friendship!!!
Enyo, in her physical form, has a youthful appearance. Her eyes are a bright, hopeful blue that can be said to practically beam whenever the girl is curious. Her hair is long and pure white, typically pulled back when she's on shift or visiting clients. Her skin is pale, incredibly so, however that might be one of the few giveaways, from afar, that Enyo is undead.
The girl has large, at-point dog ears that twitch and bend often in excitement or curiosity, and a curled, fluffy tail that more often than not wags obliviously behind her. She's dyed her hair quite a few times in her lifetime, often to avaid suspicion or to star anew, but as of right now is going all natural.
Enyo is build a little smaller than average, being just above 5'0" and weight about 50 kilos, with a lean build. When she's not wearing scrubs, with her nametag decked out in stickers, Enyo tends to wear clothing that she finds in magazine, in order to properly match the style of the given time. As of right now, she has an obsession with oversized sweaters and hairclips.
She has signature dog ear sunglasses that she wears around outside if she has to go outside while it's light, and a matching yellow and pink cap. She also owns a black cap if the outfit of the day so calls for it.
Shifting - Advanced When shifted into her inu form, Enyo takes the form of a large dog which resembles a Finnish Lapphund, which a crysteline white coat and large, at point ears. Her eyes are a bright blue, and some of her fur can often be mistaken for a very light blue in the moonlight. Enhanced Senses - Natural
backstory
tw: murder/violence, slight homophobia
She loved her. That's all she ever knew. Love that made her heart pound, her skin blush, and her very being sing. The type of love that knew no boundaries. Anais was Enyo's everything.
They were going to get married, she had promised her. But Anais had lied.
Before that, before everything, there was a noble family, a mother who had slight association with the european court. Enyo was one of seven girls, with only three brothers, Not old enough to be noticeable in any way, not young enough to need to be babied by her parents. Enyo doesn't remember a lot of her childhood, only the parts where she met Anais, a local to the small town they recided in.
Her parents were shifters, Enyo was a shifer, but Anais was a human, lacking in powers or abilities, it never changed how Enyo thought of her. The two were inseperable, despite her parents warnings of associating with those not well off Enyo felt instantly drawn to her new friend. Years flew by, full of fancy dinners, pranking servants, and dreaming about the future, about princes and desserts, about avoiding war and conflict.
They attended balls together, stood to the side watching in delight as one by one Enyo's sisters found suitors. Anais would come along to watch, in one of Enyo's borrowed dresses, clutched to the blondes side like a lifeline.
Always encouraged to enter into the mix, but never daring, Enyo was the odd one out of her sisters. Her mother claimed she should spend more time away from Anais, to better get the attention of a suitor, but Enyo refused adamantly, where she went, Anais went.
Nobody could be better than Anais.
That thought was where the feelings started. And they only grew. More attention was paid to her human friend, to her every word, to her poetry, to her dresses and her mannerisms... the feeling was one a sister had told her was surely love. Enyo didn't question it, and at the next chance she got told her beloved Anais everything.
How surprised she had been, when Anais returned her feelings, capturing Enyo in a tearful embrace and thanking her- for what, Enyo didn't know, but the girl had been ever so happy in that moment.
Days went on, with Enyo living them out in blissful ignorance to the world around her. Perhaps she shouldn't have told her brothers, that was probably her first mistake. The very thought of a pure maiden like Enyo declaring herself to another female of all things was chatised, and she was told it would sully the Amadeus family name.
Word spread fast from there, rumours and gossip, Anais didn't have the protection of a noble family to keep her from the streets turning rotten, she could only keep herself inside and hide away in hopes people would refrain from overstepping, yet Enyo would visit her, sneaking in through the windows with bouqets from her garden and try brighten her day, an unwilling sister standing by watching the surroundings always.
Tensions continued to rise as the taunts and jeers, and socialites of high esteem didn't get to the duo, mainly on part due to Enyo's obliviousness to all but the girl who made her happiest.
Her sister Gaea had an intervention one night, sitting her down inside her bedchambers and explaining, as carefully as possible how the townspeople, and people around her viewed her relationship. Enyo, still only a young teen, only had questions of why to give in turn. As Gaea tried to explain how it would be viewed the same if it was a townsboy she had chosen to date Enyo had only shook her head.
Then she had an idea.
If Anais was a noble, then surely their positons would change, nobody would dare chatise her if she was of a higher rank than them anymore! The idea had been excitedly told to Gaea, who returned a sullen smile in response.
She brought only the most expensive of rings. A rign of sapphire and silver, from the most sought after blacksmith in all the land, intended for only the most romantic of gestures.
One night, like most nights, trailed by Gaea, she entered Anais' home. Like she'd read in novella and heard of from tales of her siblings and family, she got down on one knee and asked Anais for her hand, so that all the jeering could stop, so that she could be seen as a noble and live peacefully with her and keep having fun!
Anais had smiled, big, wide and proud, tears pooling from her eyes, and had promised herself to Enyo.
She had promised.
What lead up to everything is foggy, Enyo struggles to recall it even to this day. There had been a family dinner, arguments, threats of violence, dress sizings- Enyo had thrown a tea party.
She doesn't know who did it, there had been around thirty or fourty guests in attendance. But one moment, she was at the seat of the table, gushing over plans and asking one of her younger sisters if she was going to wear the purple dress their mother had gotten last fall to the wedding.
Then she felt ill, and faint, and her chest burned- everything burned- Hands shook, breathing laboured. The sound of a voice, barely registering. Screams. Eyes, staring into hers, disgusted.
The words poison, heinous, despicable, anais, hate.
It was Anais staring down at her, she had realised, head falling to the table. Anais, who didn't look upset, but rather... pitiful. There had been a sorry, she had been sure. A voice had asked why, her voice.
And Anais had smiled, then, a hand brushing through her hair as Enyo laid there, choking on nothing but air. Her family. Her family had... Had...
Anais remembers her eyes widened, remembers the absolute terror she felt in that moment, the absolute pain- Anais had stood up, Anais was walking away- Anais had... No..
Anais' or Enyo's family had done this. Taken her happiness away.
Things got blurry again.
Enyo had woken up in the family shrine. The dress she was supposed to get married in over her form. She sat there, for a while, adjusting, recollecting... and then finally, remembering. Adjusting to her new form was difficult, but Enyo had to try. The girl was angry, angry her love had got taken away, angry her wedding had never taken place, that her life had ended so pathetically.
She found herself through the night, venturing. Finding. Seeking out a home she was familiar with. Anais'. She needed Anais. She wanted to understand, to find out... who... she wanted to get her chance back, she wanted to... to...
She wanted to hurt whoever did this. Whoever tried to take her life away. Unfortunately, it wasn't so easy. Anais wasn't home. Only parents, who were beyond terrified at the white haired girls return. She tried to ask questions, but all she got back were threats, loud, angry, accusatory. She'd taken Anais' future away, or something- Enyo didn't know, but they weren't Anais, so she left them to be and continued onwards.
Back to where it had started, she found herself back home, to her noble mansion, to where her family would have answers. Only, Enyo was met with something... a little more unforunate than that. A twisted tale that had been playing out behind the scenes.
Anais was here. As were her brothers, and... everybody but Gaea. Enyo's return had shocked them, more than anything, the girl barging in amidst a family dinner. The shock wore off quickly, followed by what had to have been the most chaotic event of a lifetime. Yelling, accusations. Family drama laid bare at the sight of a daughter who had left too soon.
She was supposed to be dead, a brother had said. A sister had, amidst anguished cries of her mother, asked where Gaea was if she was back. Anais, from what was her seat at the tabel, had simply stared in terror. Her father was glaring bloody murder.
As it had turned out, her death was part of her fathers plot, rather then Anais' family. Distraught at his family name getting ruined and besmeeched, he'd set up a way to fix it. Kill off the daughter, marry Anais to one of the sons and play it off as a big misunderstanding. And at the root of it all, Anais stood. She'd been the one to agree, of course, after Enyo's own father had convinced the girl her family and her would be much better off with this arrangement, that her feelings for Enyo had come from a place of misunderstanding, of friendship and curiosity.
And Gaea? Her older sister who stood by her, only wanting the best for her sister? She'd suffered a similar fate, for supporting Enyo and to further cement the little story that Enyo's death was an accident. Her drink had been spiked in a family dinner, only a few days after Enyo's death.
And Enyo stood, before the yelling, before the chaos, as mother slapped father, as a sister pulled on her dress and a brother smiled from across the room, as if drenched with a cold bucket of shame and anger.
She asked Anais if she loved Caeras. Anais had smiled, teeth crooked and eyes unblinking- and Enyo was threatened until she left.
Days were spent in mourning, confused, dazed, terrified of what was going on- Enyo's life, ended over something so awful, something so callous. Gaea's life, even. She stayed in the family crypt, for a while, until Enyo got an idea. An idea that took over her very being.
What a shame it was, when she finally understand her new abilities. What a shame, that she was able to find where the arsenic, which had been kept to mix into makeup powders, resided.
And what a shame, that as Anais and Caeras were reciting their vows, that Enyo was with the servants in the kitchen, mixing arsenic into dry batters, with nothing but the pure anguish she felt guiding her.
She had half a heart to at the very least seperate her younger sisters, the two smallest, from the massacre. Appearing to them when they'd been gathering flowers to gift the happy couple and convincing them that she wanted to join in the festvities, and for them to help her pick out a dress to wear.
As dessert and food rolled out, and people dug in to eat, Enyo stood in the mansion for the last time, in a room once hers, her two youngest sisters arguing over whether she should be in pink or crimson.
She had heard that the Amadeus-Dinlas Massacre became one of the countries greatest mysteries for some time. The only survivors having been the two youngest of the family, whos claims of Enyo being alive were simply viewed as two sisters mourning the loss of too many and seeing things, and a handful of attendees who hadn't wished to partake in the cake or had been putting off eating to let their dinner settle, or had felt strange about everything going on.
It was at first thought to be meant to be a robbery, as various goods had been stolen both from the house and from Anais herself, her engagement ring had mysteriously dissapeared, as has Mrs. Amadeus' necklace and a few goods from within the house, specific from the rooms of previously deceased daughters Enyo and Gaea.
Of course, Enyo had taken the ring and the goods.
Life afterwards was.... strange, and unrestful, and angry. Enyo spent the next hundred years watching her sisters grow up, have families and die, she watched how what she did affected them, and how they lived on non the wiser. Life didn't have much purpose.
Enyo was loveless, and lonely, and mourning. In other words, she was the perfect target for somebody looking to do something awful. A man had connected her with the massacre and tracked her down in the 1700s, curious with the girls expertise with poisons after the massacre had gone so well for her, and Enyo, both terrified and longing for somebody to talk to told the man she had 'enough' knowledge to be of use.
What followed was years of learning about poisons and methods to kill people, following in the footsteps of a ghoul who longed to take out his anger for a life cursed and filled with nothing but illness and pain. He took lives for fun, with Enyo at his heels to dish out the dirty work, with him stepping in when required, they were a team.
Enyo had seem beings come and go, come and go, the value of life was lost on her, especially when people could so easily take others. Humanity hadn't cared for her, that's what the man had told her, and she'd believed him. Perhaps it was unfortunate for the girl, who'd moved to develop a crush on the man after years of working together, of being dubbed all sorts of strange names, that he eventually had become tired of their mundane ways. One night, of simply speaking about the town they resided in, about plans to perhaps visit and take things to America, had turned into the man telling her that he wanted to settle down for a while.
Enyo didn't understand, and after a brief fight and pushing him perhaps a bit too far he yelled at her, eyes dark and sullen, face void of anything but anger. In that moment, he looked like her father had, when he had confessed to murdering him.
And she ran.
For a good hundred years, she lived in America, in the shadows of alleys during day and through the streets in the finest dresses at night. She wanted to carry on what she'd left behind. It took a few years to get back into her habit, back into discovering new poisons, researching in closed librarys and reading long trashed newspapers. Cyanide was somewhat difficult to come by, so Arsenic was still her go to. Often stolen and hidden away in dumpsters, she'd wait until night to take to a bar and turn a poor mans night sour, just to watch their life be taken from them, like hers once had. Just to watch the tragedy play out with a morbid sense of curiosity.
However, it seemed people had started catching on, more than once she'd almost been caught and left in a dangerous situation, an inugami sighting, her mistake, had lead to fire being a common resort, matches being as common as they were left her burned and pained.
Not wanting to die once more, or leave the realm of living, she settled in an abandoned house in the woods for a good number of years, and it was in that time she began reflecting, having to face a pause where nothing was happening once more left her feeling a sense of guilt. She'd been killing without meaning, driven by the thought of impressing somebody who didn't wish to be impressed and convincing herself it was just to experience what her death must have been like over and over.
She was jealous of those who could live out their lives happily, who could her married, have children and raise families of their own. So, very jealous. The idea came to her one night, staring out the window and watching time pass. Perhaps she could have that life, she could guide children, she could help them.
She fled to a place she hadn't been, both for a change of scenery and to attempt to escape people who might be starting to catch on to her past murders. Hopping on a ship, she found herself in canada. Under the alias of 'Ellen M' she attempted to work as a nanny, but after discovering that the children would rather play with their toys than endulge her in her questions about childhood, she stood down for the job and instead lived to sightsee this new area.
It was a stray newspaper that grasped her attention, in the mid 1800's. Seeking nurses to help aid in times of need, when hospital beds were filled to the brim. She could learn about more poisons, burn cures, things that could help her in the future- she could... make up for the damage she had done, when she was simply living in the moment.
Yes, that seemed like a perfect idea. Perhaps it was her youthful, innocent looks or naive attitude, but she was widely liked within where she was trained, and patients often felt indulged by her curious questions or the care she took to being able to tell medications apart. Up until the mid 1900s life was simple. Enyo would travel hospital to hospital, watching as tensions rose and as violence seemed to get worse. She was a simple nurse, learning all she could to properly memerise. Oftenwhen people found out what she was she was ostracised and only given desperate patients, which lead to a move each time.
Her interests, one medication was memerised, turned to side effects, and things like how much it would take to lead to an overdose. The rise in criminal activity seemed to draw Enyo in, remind her of years ago. Perhaps it was the hope, that she would find somebody like her crush again, or the lull of using things she had much more knowledge about, she began to make herself known the the criminal underground, taking medication doseses that would be lethal in large dosages during the shifts of other nurses and selling them off to serial killers, assasins, anybody who was curious enough to buy, and when she got close to getting found out, she'd move.
She didn't have any part in the killings other than the initial transaction, and her hands could remain clean. She could treat her patients guilt free, and on the side she could help those that had been wronged by the world do what she once had to do.
And... maybe she could watch, starry eyed and long past redeeming, hoping for a love as strong as Anais' to come and take her away.

misc
Enyo is definitely not a good person, and despite being hundreds of years old seems to still hold some form of childish naivety about the harm shes truly caused.
Often Enyo carries on her notebooks and journals detailing healing ailments and poisons than she can look over when she's bored.
More often than not Enyo will go by an alias, just to be safe, unless she's tricked into giving her real name or feels like the person is a friend and close to her. Her favourite alias'' are Emma, Juliet and Yo.
She still wears the ring she once brought Anais.
Enyo is very easy to befriend, her nature often leading to interactions where she'll ask questions out of the blue, however misguided trust or Enyo misunderstanding signals often leads to the end of these friendly relationships.
Will be the cheerleader to any revenge narrative, with minimal remorse unless it is actively spelled out for her
