Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
he hadn't exactly planned on telling zac he was coming. he had asked if it was alright. it was spur of the moment. the opportunity was too good to pass up. it was fate, or maybe he was just exaggerating a bit. after finishing his internship he was glad to know he got the job in lorsette. it just so happened to be the place his brother was currently residing in. hey the worst thing that could happen would be that that is no place for him to stay. he would have to find something quick. it wasn't like he was going to live out of his car. for one that would be highly uncomfortable and two there wasn't enough space. not to mention he wouldn't be able to sleep comfortable.
he was a couple of minutes away from his destination and his new life. he couldn't help but look at the buildings near by. eventually he arrived at his destination. he parked the car, grabbed his luggage and was making his way to the door in no time. he hesitated, looking at the door. do i really want to mess up their life? he wasn't sure how long he was standing there, it felt like minutes, but seconds hs only passed.
Today, Desmond had agreed to babysit his crush's daughter while he managed to get some more sleep. The opportunity to remain be in Zachary's house was both exciting and nerve wracking as the nephilim attempted to remain relaxed as he stationed himself on the couch. Merely being warranted the chance to watch Alice and remain in the handsome doctor's house was a dream coming true. Although, the ginger believed this also meant he was required to attempt to maintain an attractive appearance which had resulted in him wearing freshly cleaned clothing. A crisp white shirt, a pair of dark coloured jeans accompanied by a blue hoodie acted as the tall man's wardrobe for the day. Time was passing pleasantly while Desmond had participated in games with Zachary's adorable daughter, a young girl who he had come to favor as though she was his own.
When the knocking arrived at the front door, a confused expression marked Desmond's face as his green eyes naturally drifted towards its direction. There had been no mentioning of company from his crush, which left the nephilim both bewildered and concerned at the random knocking.
"... Alice, stay here," he directed before slowly rising to answer the door.
Carefully, Desmond approached the door, slowly opening it to reveal the white-haired stranger carrying luggage. The ginger-haired nephilim raised an eyebrow to the peculiar sight, feeling insecurity transcend over him. There were always concerns that Zachary's heart belonged to somebody else and perhaps that somebody was this stranger. The concept felt like a stab at Desmond's heart, causing an awkward smile opposed to a friendly one to light his face.
"Hello... Can I help you?" Desmond choked out awkwardly.
Originally, this day was blissful since it could be spent with Zachary and Alice who were beginning to feel similar to family for the ginger, but now there was concern. As he stood awkwardly blocking the passage between the house and the outside world, the nephilim's mind orbited around the worrying notion of his crush dating somebody else. Alas, Desmond found himself unable to fault the angel for dating somebody else as his self-conscious feelings began to point out the various flaws in both his personality and appearance. The essence of a frown desired to tug the corners of the ginger's lips down as an uncomfortable feeling began to enter his stomach.
you could only tell if you stared at his hands. he was nervous and why wouldn't he be? what if his brother said no or didn't have room or both. after all he had come all this way unannounced. he could of given the poor guy a heads up. the excitement got to him. this wasn't how he would of normally done things. if anything he would of planned things out. everything was just falling into place way too quickly.
he held onto the suitcase way to tightly. it was the only way to stop his hands from shaking. it seemed like the door took ages to open. he kept checking the address. he was right. unless he had taken it down wrong. that was impossible though. right? they had sent each other letters countless times. he had gotten a reply back every time. this was so not like him. he needed to calm down. in the middle of his mental prep the door had opened. them speaking brought him back to reality."oh, im sorry...i must have the wrong house."he said as an unfamiliar male opened the door.
zach never mentioned having a roommate. then again there were a lot of things zach forgot to mention. he took a couple of steps back before stopping."um, actually is zach here?"hey it wouldn't hurt to try to ask. the worst thing they could say is no and he ends up stranded with no where to go. he was already trying to figure this out. maybe things wouldn't go as planned. his excitement was completely extinguished. how embarrassing would it be to end up at the wrong house. he could already start to feel his cheeks start to warm up.
Nerves were running wild as Desmond stood, blocking the threshold between the inside and the out. This awkward situation of a guest that appeared around his crush's age was making the ginger incredibly anxious about numerous concepts. Most involved the possibility of no mutual feelings being shared by Zachary or perhaps no longer being allowed to spend time with the attractive angel alongside the little girl he cared about similarly to a daughter. From what Desmond could tell, the other man seemed immensely nervous, but this failed to cease the nervous emotions running rampant in his mind. The suitcase was mildly unnerving, suggesting a stay and considering a majority of those who identified as a salesperson tended to be smoother talkers, Desmond presumed there were intentions to stay.
The initially spoken words soothed the ginger's nervous emotions to a degree. Having the incorrect house meant that this man was probably not in search of Zachary. The door was slowly being closed until he heard the white-haired man speak which caused Desmond to stiffen. Gradually, the threshold was opened again as the tall nephilim gazed at the stranger with his green eyes. The anxious emotions spiked as the ginger grew self-conscious and concerned over the possibility in his head, resulting a pause before he spoke.
"... Um... yes. Do you need to speak to him?" Desmond asked quietly. "He is asleep right now... b-but I could go get him..."
Every word escaped his mouth with an awkward, nervous tone which caused Desmond to flinch at the pathetic attempt to speak. The unannounced guest was concerning development for the ginger, especially since the possibility remained that this man was Zachary's crush or boyfriend. Mentally, the scout was praying that his crush was not taken by somebody else; it felt selfish considering this man was likely better, but Desmond found it difficult not to.
Zachary had had another long night at the hospital, having gone in earlier in the day and only coming home around two in the morning. He had asked Desmond to come over to spend time with Alice because he didn't want her to feel lonely, though he also wanted Desmond to come over because he wanted to spend time with him too. He found himself tossing and turning in his bed, trying to force himself to fall asleep but he really badly wanted Desmond to be with him, finding it difficult to sleep when he was so alone. There was a knock on his door and Alice walked inside to jump into his bed. "Daddy, there is somebody at the door looking for you." Alice declared as she looked over at her father, waiting to see his reaction. I wonder who it is? Normally Alice would tell me if she knew them so many it is somebody we haven't met yet. He thought to himself as he slowly stood up from the bed.
He ran his fingers through his hair, feeling somewhat lazy with keeping up his appearance because he was still tired as he walked out of his bedroom with Alice following right behind him. It had come as a surprise that Desmond was at the door, but only because he would have thought if Desmond wasn't letting the person in, he would have closed it by now. As he neared the door, he could hear Desmond talking to somebody that sounded somewhat familiar. "Get who?" He asked as he came up from behind Desmond. It hadn't been his plan to scare him, but he was curious at who was at the door. One look at Tobias and he knew that was his younger brother but he felt somewhat confused as he noticed the luggage Tobias was carrying with him. "Is everything alright Tobias? You didn't get in a fight with dad did you?"
he was starting to think he had come all this way for nothing. his one time of spontaneity and it had backfired on him. he sighed softly. it was his own fault, he should of asked his brother if it was alright. he had turned to leave, but figured why not give it one last shot. so he wasn't wrong after all. he smiled as he got the answer to his question. tobias simply shook his head and laughed. he knew being a doctor, most of the time they had weird schedules.
with his free hand he rubbed his neck. so much for a surprise. he hadn't even had the chance to respond to the male when his brother had suddenly showed up. his cheeks started to burn slightly at his remark."if anything it would be you that would get in a fight with dad."he said as he brushed his hair out of his face."im moving in."he said with a smile. well maybe it wasn't that great of an idea anymore. he couldn't deny the bad feeling in his stomach."unless you don't have any room."he said looking over at the unknown male.
he knew this was a bad idea. his brother wasn't going to want him there. it wasn't like he could just move here and pick up where he left off. his brother had his own life and maybe there wasn't room for him in it."i, uh got a job here...."he said trailing off. he really had no idea what else to say. he wished he hadn't shown up.
The situation appeared to be transforming into a concern the longer that Desmond stood at the threshold of the door. Slowly, the nephilim inched away, preparing to interrupt his crush's sleep and perhaps leave considering the awkward circumstances. An unannounced visitor inquiring about Zachary was unusual, which made the ginger believe the possibility of his crush having another individual in his life. Before the chance was given to turn around and rouse the angel, Zachary's voice came from behind him. The sudden noise startled the scout, causing him to stiffen and turn to face his crush. Instead of explaining the situation, Desmond found himself staring at the adorable doctor whose hair remained messy from presumed slumber. Even with tousled hair, the angel remained attractive to the ginger, making it difficult for him to look away.
As the conversation began, Desmond's eyes remained bashfully glancing towards the ground as he remained uncertain with what to say. The stranger, which Zachary referred to as Tobias, was hoping to move in; which was a sudden development that the ginger never heard about from his crush. The manner they conversed possessed an obvious familiarity, which made the scout have no desire to interrupt him. When there was a pause in the exchanged words, Desmond began inching out the door.
"... Um... maybe I should leave... Sorry... never meant to interrupt," he said shyly.
Afterwards, he turned away with the plan to escape through the door and grant the pair their moment. It was Desmond's belief that they would crave privacy to thoroughly speak about this spontaneous moving plan and to enjoy their visit; they did not require his presence. A part of the scout felt sorrow over believing that departing from the presence of the incredible angel was necessary.
Zachary hadn't meant to startle Desmond but he gave his question to Tobias because one minute his brother was writing him letters and the next he was in town, outside his door with luggage. So of course he was concerned that his father and brother had a fight as he had just before he left. It was relieving to hear that Tobias didn't have a fight with their father but he was surprised when Tobias stated he was moving in. He didn't get a chance to answer before Tobias took his statement about moving in back. He wants to move in with me? He allowed the words to sink into his mind, still being sleepy from the lack of sleep. It was hard to focus on anything else when his brother had come to his house, asking for his permission to move in. Though he still had to address on accident startling Desmond, he hadn't meant to do that and he didn't want Desmond thinking he was ignoring him for his brother but he was at a lost on who to comment next. Tobias comment about getting a job here had pulled his attention on him once more and he smiled at his brother before hearing Desmond's comment.
Leave? No.... I just woke up. You can't leave. I need you here.... It was hard to muster up the courage needed to try and keep Desmond from leaving. On the one hand, he didn't want him to leave but he had startled him earlier and he didn't want to make Desmond feel uncomfortable. He needs to know I want him to stay.... what can I do? Without hesitation he reached out, preparing to pull Desmond in a hug, only to remember in the middle of that hug that it could cause Desmond discomfort and he let go. "Please.... don't leave me Desmond...." He whispered, "I just woke up...." He was pouting as he looked at Desmond, expecting his crush to leave him. As great as it was to have his brother here, he didn't want Desmond to leave. "Daddy Des?" Alice slid passed her father to look at Desmond who seemed to be preparing to leave by his location of where he was standing. "Also Tobias, it is great that you got a job here and of course you can move in." He looked over towards his brother with a smile on his face.
he felt bad the poor guy who had opened the door seemed to be so overwhelmed. he couldn't help but look at him. why couldn't he of asked in the letter. he wanted this to be a surprise and in the end it turned into regret. he was starting to wish he hadn't just shown up on his door step. was it foolish of him to think he could just shove himself back into his brothers life.
for a moment he thought it was possible. he wasn't going to deny that he was still a bit wounded. he wished his brother would of confided in him more. at least let him know he was leaving. they always looked out for each other. tobias continued to watch them, not sure if he should stay or go. the young girl broke the silence. it had to be zach's daughter. he still pictured a baby."are you sure, i don't want to impose. i know i just dropped in out of the blue, but i didn't know you had a roommate."he told them."at least for a couple of days until i find a place of my own.if you don't have room i can just sleep on the couch or something. i don't mind."he said with a soft smile."im sorry..."
Leaving appeared to be the proper choice in the situation to allow Zachary and the mysterious stranger their privacy, although, Desmond craved the opportunity to spend more time with his crush. For a majority of the visit, the angel had been slumbering as planned, but the ginger still desired to exchange a few words. That felt impossible currently, resulting in him turning to leave with plans to merely head home and perhaps text Zachary later. Unexpectedly, Desmond felt himself get tugged back, pulled into a hug that left him in close proximity to his adorable crush. Immediately, quick breathing and a mild trembling became his reaction as the effects his ex provided transcended over him, making it difficult to discover comfort in the embrace. Fortunately, he was released shortly afterwards and heard the whisper from the handsome angel.
A deep red tint coloured the scout's face, surprise crossing his countenance as he looked at Zachary for a few moments. There was an increase in heart rate over the action, the ginger finding that his heart was attempting to escape the cage known as his ribs. Heat has pooled in his cheeks, the blood continuing to rush through them, maintaining the blush that also crossed the bridge of his nose. Bashfully, Desmond glanced towards the ground, speechless from the pleading that he stay. It wad adorable to witness the attractive doctor desire his presence, even flattering to a degree. The effects of the blush were increased when he heard Alice speak, the scout keeping his gaze adverted in hopes nobody would notice his reddened face. The concept of Alice considering him a fatherly figure was adorable and made it difficult for the ginger to suddenly leave.
"Um... I-I guess I can stay," he mumbled back shyly.
A fluster remained as Desmond listened to Zachary's brother speak, the mentioning of being a roommate causing the scout to blush further. The concept of living with the handsome angel caused his heart to jovially dance around his chest. Being able to see the man everyday, speak with him and maintain a close proximity was enough to increase the blush and keep Desmond's eyes locked towards the ground.
"I... uh... was just babysitting Alice," he explained quietly.
Despite craving the notion of being around Zachary more, the scout was bound to return to his home where his father and Elysia were, although, he found himself wishing for a day to arrive where he could occupy the same house as his crush. The ginger's eyes remained towards the ground as the blush increased further over his desire to be in Zachary's company.
Zachary looked towards Tobias when Alice had called Desmond, Daddy. Seeing as he was crushing on him and all, he was having a hard time controlling his emotions when his daughter enjoyed having Desmond around just as much as she loved having him around. He looked towards Desmond with a smile on his face when his crush had decided to stay instead of leaving, looking back at Tobias, he made his comment just for his face go pink from embarrassment. Desmond? My roommate? Oh how I wish that was true.... He thought to himself, remaining quiet until Desmond made the comment about babysitting Alice. "Oh right I forgot to point her out to you when you first came to the door." He glanced down to see that Alice was hiding behind him, he reached his hand out to touch her back gently. "Alice, this is Uncle Tobias." With the blush finally fading from his face, he looked towards Desmond. "Desmond, this is my younger brother Tobias, Tobias, this is my friend Desmond."
Oh how he wished to declare that Desmond was his crush, but he didn't want to put unwanted spotlight on Desmond. "Hi, Uncle Tobias." Alice answered, finally having the nerve to come out from behind Tobias so that he could see her much better. "Noooooooooo he is Daddy Des." She corrected her father's comment about calling Desmond just a friend, the comment made Zachary blush and look to the side. He wasn't about to correct her on the subject, seeing as he did have feelings towards Desmond. Now to change the subject back to the matter at hand. "Tobias..... come right in... I have rooms to spare." He promised, glancing towards Desmond. "I'd love for you to come back inside as well." As if being inside would keep Desmond from leaving, since his crush could teleport at will. Zachary then stepped outside to reach out for the luggage Tobias was holding, to encourage him to follow him inside.
it was alice that had caused him to change his answer."im sorry, your husband...?" it was a smile, but with a hint of sadness. there he was doing things without letting him know. it wasn't that he wanted zachary to ask him permission, it was that he wanted to be included. his brother had taught him so many things. he was like a mother bird teaching him how to fly. the memory made him laugh softly.
he must have his reasons. tobias thought to himself. hoping they didn't hear him laugh and think he was laughing at them. his eyes focused on alice. he had only seen her in pictures. at least his brother was consistent with sending letters. he knew the man was busy. there was just a tad bit of remorse left in his heart towards him. nevertheless he wasn't going to let that ruin this already awkward reunion."tobi is fine."he told her with a nod."nice to meet you...both."
now it was his turn to blush."im sorry, i didn't meant to assume. when alice said daddy des...."he said completely flustered. he hoped he wasn't making matters worse."sorry sorry. thank you."tobias said as he eventually made his way inside. his brother had taken his luggage and how he had nothing to do with his hands, but stick them in his pockets.
Soothing the anxieties generated from being in Zachary's presence was difficult since Desmond found himself self-conscious. The incredible personality and appearance of his crush always made him worried that a day would arrive where he did something wrong and managed to get rejected by the amazing man he cared about immensely. Despite his constant fears about love, the ginger still craved the angel's attention, although, he wished he could handle it in a more romantic setting. Initially, Desmond thought that his blush had reached its peak, until he listened to the words that the white-haired man said; the presumption of him being Zachary's husband. Immediately, the fluster consumed his face, transforming it into a expanse of red. Cheeks, nose and the tips of his ears were covered in the vivid bright red colouring, forcing Desmond to look downwards in desperation to hide his fluster.
His heart felt like a prisoner in his chest cavity, desperately pounding at the bars, his ribs, for escape. While he remained in this intense state of bashfulness, the scout concerned that he would have a heart attack as a result. Breathing transformed into a swift, short breaths as Desmond attempted to calm his emotions. The scout found himself speechless about the concept, his mind momentarily playing with the notion of marriage which maintained the bright blush. The correction to being 'daddy Des' only made the blush brighter, causing the scout's heart to flutter immensely; he swore it was attempting to leap into his throat and escape. As the introductions were completed, Desmond nodded in acknowledgement, still unable to even speak. When Zachary invited him back inside, Desmond's eyes flitted to the angel's face, noticing his beauty immediately. Only a moment they lingered until shyly adverting eye contact.
"O-o-okay," he squeaked out nervously.
Slowly following, Desmond entered the house, already feeling lost in the situation. There was always teleporting, but the scout did not want to upset the adorable angel. The emotions he held for Zachary kept him bound, allowing him to silently follow behind the pair.
Zachary's blushed from Tobias changing his answer to husband on him. I... am not brave enough to move onto that step just yet.... He would remain quiet instead of answering that question, trying to calm himself down so that he wouldn't be so flustered when giving Tobias' answer in return. After introducing Tobias to Alice and to Desmond, he had pulled on Tobias' luggage to bring it inside, with the hope his brother would follow. Of course he was also hoping Desmond would come back inside too, feeling overjoyed when his friend had stepped back inside and he closed the door with them inside his house. "Sorry for the mess Tobias.... I just woke up...." His house wasn't that bad, just a few things Alice had pulled from her room to have in the living room so that she could play and spend time with Desmond in the living room.
He walked down the hall, before turning into a room and setting Tobias' luggage on the floor. "Hopefully this room is okay." He answered, having a bed and dresser already in the room, the only thing missing was bedding for the mattress. Alice had been nearby her father but when Zachary had taken Tobias' luggage to the empty room, she had moved to stand by Desmond with a small smile on her face. "More people for our go fish game?" She asked, curious on the answer, somewhat thrilled that her father was up and that somebody else was in the house to join them or at least it sounded like Uncle Tobi was moving in.
had he gotten it wrong again? no one was saying anything, but everyone's faces were a hue of red. now he felt like he had really messed things up. he sighed softly as zach was quick to grab his luggage. he let everyone else walk back into the house before he followed suit. he wiped his feet on the door mat before walking inside. zach didn't give him too much time. he was quick to show him where he would be rooming. tobi laughed and shook his head."what mess? i've seen worse."he said with a chuckle."i could tell. there's a bit of drool on your shirt."he said in a teasing tone.
he nodded."of course. the fact that you're giving me a room is great. i really should of planned this out. im sorry i didn't mean to drop in like this. i wanted it to be a surprise."he told them. the surprise had obviously backfired on him. alice spoke about a game of go fish and tobi chuckled softly."i haven't played in a long time."he said with a smile.
