Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Words against the concept of Zachary being Desmond's husband remained unspoken, causing the ginger's face to flare a brighter shade of red. The possibility of his crush fancying the idea was causing his heart to palpitate immensely as it continued the relentless escape threats. Speaking was beyond difficult, words being unable to leave his mouth as a result of the intense fluster that had overtaken the scout. The notion was incorrect, but secretly, Desmond did not want to dismiss the idea of being Zachary's husband; perhaps someday in the future. The inquiry was left unanswered, further interrogation over the concept being dropped. There were vague hints towards the current relationship between himself and Zachary, thus the nephilim assumed that an answer had been discovered; Desmond was not certain whether to be panicked or relieved.
Slowly, he followed Zachary back into the house, his eyes remaining towards the floor below. The bashfulness had consumed his attitude, resulting in a nervous fretting over notions of the attractive angel's opinions. Witnessing Zachary's desire for him to remain here was causing numerous heart flutters and for the deep blush painted across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose to be maintained. Silently, Desmond listened to the conversation between the brothers, discovering that he was too flustered to even attempt joining the discussion. His green eyes continued staring towards the floor until he heard the sweet voice of Zachary's daughter which got his attention. After she spoke, Desmond gave her a smile that was sheepish from the intense flustering he had fell victim to.
"I suppose it does," he responded. "That's if they feel up to it."
The faintest hints of red still played across the ginger's cheeks as he spoke to Alice and his heart continued fluttering from the earlier comments. A nervous smile remained on his lips while Desmond took deep breaths in desperation to escape the flustered sensation.
Silence seemed to continue growing until after he had taken Tobias to the room that he would be staying in. After admitting that he had just woken up, Tobias made the comment and he looked down at his shirt to see if the drool stain is on his shirt or not, feeling embarrassed that it was possible he was telling the truth. "Well I had to go greet my younger brother." He gave a lame excuse for not properly getting ready before greeting him at the door. "It is a surprise.... but I failed to mention Desmond in my letters." He felt ashamed for putting them both on the spot like that. "As I should have mentioned my brother to you, Desmond." He answered, looking towards his crush briefly before looking away to try and get control over his emotions, his cheeks felt warm from embarrassment. When Alice mentioned the game, he couldn't help but smile slightly, feeling tired still but for the sake of Tobias and his brother, he had plans of staying up.
"I'm going to go change." He didn't want to surprise Desmond, but hopefully it would give him the hint he planned to join them and not go back to the room to sleep more. Alice looked at her father, "Okay daddy, be back soon." She watches her father exit the bedroom to head into his own, closing the door for the sake of a bit of privacy as he changed out of his clothes for fresh ones. "We were playing in the living room, you should join us." She hoped that they'd both join her as she made her way back to the living room to wait for them. Zachary washed his face in the master bathroom before drying his face with a towel, brushing his hair he finally went to his bedroom door to join the others.
tobi teased his brother, laughed when he saw him looking down at his shirt."got you."he said with a smile. with everything going on, he honestly wanted to just unpack and stay out of the way. he wasn't going to be rude. it wasn't super important to him to start unpacking right that minute. after he sat his things down at the foot of the bed. he followed them after a few minutes. alice had said that they would be in the living room.
he retraced his steps until he finally arrived at the living room. he peered inside before speaking."haven't started yet have you?"he asked as he made his way towards them. he wasn't sure where he should sit so he took a seat on the sofa closest to where they were playing.
Invoking calm emotions was already difficult within Zachary's presence, but gradually they transcended over Desmond and he recovered from the husband comment. The ginger remained silent while his crush spoke to his brother since he remained uncertain of what he could possibly add to the conversation. There were rising concerns that he would embarrass himself in front of the adorable angel and Tobias; which was frightening. Considering his lack of familiarity with Zachary's brother, Desmond found himself fretting over the possible opinions the white-haired man could possess; what if opinions were shared and his crush ended up disliking him? Anxious emotions were consuming Desmond while he gazed towards the floor of the room, half-listening to the conversation. Delving into his thoughts resulted in the ginger missing a portion of the exchange, finally realizing that Zachary was speaking to him; stating how he should have mentioned his brother.
Unfortunately, Desmond had failed to listen to the conversation completely, thus his attention only returning the when his name was mentioned. There was a slight widening to the ginger's eyes, a faint red touching his cheeks while he bashfully glanced away from Zachary's gaze. He felt embarrassed for not listening to the exchange in full, but self-conscious thoughts about opinions were ruling his mind.
"Um... yeah," Desmond squeaked out.
The embarrassment was overwhelming as the scout found himself unable to admit he had not been listening. Already the ginger could imagine that his crush would dislike being informed that he has not been paying attention; that could generate negative opinions. When Zachary left the room to change, Desmond found his green eyes lingering on the angel's figure as he left the room. The mention of playing caused the ginger's gaze to flit back towards Alice, a soft smiling curving onto his lips as he followed her. Once in the living room, Desmond returned to his place on the couch, shifting over slightly when Tobias came to join them.
"Not yet, still planning on joining?" Desmond asked, his tone quieter than usual.
There was mild alarm in somebody who was incredibly close to Zachary being here; especially when Desmond knew nothing about this mysterious white-haired man. Another thought entered the ginger nephilim's mind, causing his heart to skip a beat and his cheeks to tint a brighter red. Heat transcended over his face while blood rushed to his cheeks. Was Zachary going to join them for the card games? Desmond was definitely not opposed to the concept, but he remained nervous over the idea of playing a game with his crush. There were numerous hopes that the ginger possessed, most specifically being that he would not embarrass himself in front of Zachary and Tobias.
Alice had returned to the living room, sitting on the floor as she waited for the others to join her. Desmond had followed her into the living room and took his place back on the couch. A few minutes later, Tobias had come out and had joined them in the living room. She giggled when Desmond had answered the question. I hope daddy comes back soon, then we can start.... She thought to herself happily. After a few minutes she could hear the door open, most likely coming from her father's bedroom since Tobias was out here already. Zachary walked down the hall, feeling somewhat refreshed despite still feeling drained from his shift at work. Noticing that Desmond and Tobias were already in the living room, he moved to sit on the floor next to Alice instead.
"Aww sorry for the wait." He figured they could have started a round without him if they had been waiting this whole time for him to come back out. "It's okay daddy." Alice answered, unaware of how weary her father was feeling at that exact moment. Trying to stay awake is proving to be harder than I thought. Sitting on the floor helped because it wasn't comfortable, meaning less likely to doze off even if he felt like he could crash at any moment. It is moment likes these when I wish I could just stay awake and never go to sleep. After a few minutes, whether the game had started or not, Zachary failed to keep his eyes open and had managed to doze off anyway.
tobias had expected to start playing a game while zach got himself ready. oh goodness, how things took a turn. one minute he was a blubbering mess at the front door and the next here he was sitting in the living room with alice and desmond. there was an awkward silence in the room. he had opted to sit on the sofa, but he was still close enough to play the game. he waited for alice to start the game, but the trio just sat there. he wasn't sure what to do or say. were they going to wait for zach?
his mind ran through a list of questions. he really wans't sure what to say. maybe it was best if he didn't say anything. he was starting to feel like an outsider. he would only stay here long enough to find a place of his own. he didn't want to disrupt their lives any further. he could hear his father scolding him for doing this. it was why he hadn't told his parents in the first place. well he had told them that he had got the teaching job in lorssete, but he didn't exactly tell them where he was going to be staying. or more like who's place he was going to crash.
his thoughts were disrupted when zach finally made an appearance. it seemed like the game was about to start. or at least tobias thought once he looked around the room and noticed zach had dozed off once more. he chuckled softly."maybe we should postpone the game?"it seemed like his lack of sleep and all the excitement of him dropping by had drained him even more.
The silence resulted in Desmond gazing towards the hallway, waiting for Zachary to enter the room. There was a nervousness about conversing with Tobias, mostly because the ginger remained unfamiliar with his crush's younger brother. During the silence, the scout began wondering if he was intruding considering this appeared to be family time for Zachary, Alice and Tobias. The concept made him feel awkward about the situation, making him ponder whether or not leaving was a proper idea, but his crush had requested he stayed. Feeling conflicted, the scout preferring not to intrude while trying to abide by the wishing of the attractive angel. For a few moments, the ginger leaned back into the couch, awkwardly twiddling his thumbs, too nervous to speak despite the requirement to entertain Alice.
When Zachary entered the living room, his attention turned towards him, noticing how refreshed his crush looked. Merely glancing towards the attractive angel made Desmond glance away bashfully. Constantly, the doctor seemed to possess an adorableness that made the scout's heart flutter wildly. The nervousness grew, the concerns about accidental intrusion increasing while he sat awkwardly on the couch. Slowly, he reached out for the stacked cards, starting to shuffle, the movements gradually calming him.
"Well, I believe Princess Alice was in the lead last time we played," He said, smiling towards Alice.
Unfortunately, things were halted, shuffling slowing when he caught a glimpse of Zachary dozing off from exhaustion. A small laugh left his lips at Tobias' comment, Desmond flashing the white-haired man a smile. The scout had been allowing his crush to rest, but it appeared that Zachary still required more time to sleep off the exhaustion from work.
"Yeah, I think he needs to sleep a bit longer," Desmond responded with a chuckle.
Slowly, he left the couch, closing the distance between himself and his crush. There was a requirement to wake the angel from his dozing to return him to bed. Desmond was certain that Zachary desired to spend time with Tobias and Alice, but in this condition it was probably he would be capable of staying awake long enough. It seemed unlikely that Zachary would be joining them for go fish at this rate. Shakily, the ginger reached out and gently shook Zachary's shoulder, attempting to wake him. While he carefully shook his crush, he spoke gently.
"Hey, Zac," he began softly. "... Maybe you should sleep a bit longer. You still seem pretty tired. We can all play together and I am certain me and Tobi can play with Alice for a bit."
There was a warm expression on Desmond's face, cracks of nervousness from being this close to Zachary. While he stared at the attractive angel, the scout maintained a sheepish smile on his face.
Zachary was out of it, he hadn't heard Tobias chuckle at his action. Alice had been so excited to get the game started but when her father had fallen asleep she sighed softly, moving to stand in front of Tobias. Zachary woke to being lightly shaken. He felt drained on the one hand, wanting Alice to have somebody to stay with her, on the other, he really didn't want to go back into the room without Desmond. He felt a great need in having Desmond nearby, as if only to make sure he didn't leave him behind. "I don't want to go alone...." The phrase had come out as a mutter, but since Desmond was standing just above him, he would be in earshot to hear it. I'm being so mean to him.... I should be more patient but I just..... I don't want to be in my room alone anymore.... I want to be able to see him and talk to him. He gave a weak smile towards Tobias.
"Sorry I ruined the game, I suppose work took more out of me than I thought." The last thing he wanted was for Tobias to think he had to leave just because he wouldn't be spending more time with him right now. He pushed his hands against the floor, forcing himself to stand up. I am not going..... I refuse to go alone... Maybe I should just sleep on the couch, than I can be right by him still... He slowly made his way towards the couch, determined to sit on it to be with them longer.
tobias should of said something about starting a game, but everyone seemed content with waiting for zach. that was rather awkward for tobi. sitting there in silence, wishing he was getting his packing undone or something. it had been a long trip for him as well. after all he had decided to take an early flight here. he maybe slept five hours or so. maybe less. he wasn't sure the times were all blurring together. the fact that he was awake was pretty impressive. he was sure the jetlag would hit him eventually. it was probably all the excitement about coming here and seeing alice and zach of course. he still picture alice as a tiny thing. he understood zach was busy with his job and his life. sometimes letters wouldn't arrive till months later or even years later. he was glad he was able to find his brother still living in the same place at all.
he wasn't sure what he was going to do. it was obvious his brother was tired and wanted to sleep. he couldn't be rude and just ditch the trio."alice? how about we play later? do you want to give me a tour of the house and maybe we can go get ice cream or something?"he asked her. he wanted to get to know his niece and he figured she would probably be the best one to give him a tour of the house and maybe parts of town where she visisted. what was he going to do if she said no? well besides look like an idiot and retreat back to his room.
Fretting over Zachary's condition had become nature to Desmond. After witnessing the exhausted state that his crush would be left in after work, the ginger was insisting of making certain the man remained well rested. The gentle shaking eventually woke the attractive angel, Desmond taking a few moments to analyze the adorable appearance of the man he cared about; Zachary was beautiful inside and out. There was nothing that the ginger could respond with when Zachary muttered about not desiring to be alone. Blush covered Desmond's face, his eyes widening at the cute comment that the attractive angel had provided. His heart was fluttering like a bird trapped in a cage, demanding for freedom, for bravery to display the hidden emotions, but Desmond lacked the courage. The underlying fear remained, increasing anxieties of rejection or getting similar treatment when Leon broke up with him.
There was no possible way he could display the affection he harbored, his stomach churning at the negative thoughts. He wished he could sweep Zachary off his feet, hold his hand and provide everlasting hugs of support, but Desmond remained frightened of intimate touch as remote as it could possibly be.
"Zac, you need to sleep," Desmond squeaked out in a whisper. "What if you get sick?"
The ginger was find it difficult to speak from the rapid palpitations of his heart. During these moments, Desmond swore that Zachary was the most adorable man throughout the four dimensions. Breathing was slowed in a desperate attempt to reach a calmer state, the journey there being gradual. The apology caused a soft look to enter Desmond's eyes as he glanced towards Zachary.
"You have nothing to apologize for... You are exhausted, Zac," he stated softly.
He continued gazing at his crush with softness in his eyes. Those feelings he held sparked, Desmond desiring to see his crush get the rest he needed and deserved. There were desires, Desmond wishing he could provide the comfort that Zachary wanted; the comfort of closeness.
Alice turned to look towards Tobias. "Sure, I'd love to." She was excited that she was getting a chance to leave the house, perhaps she would get to know him just a little bit later, he was after all her daddy's brother. She turned to look towards Zachary and Desmond before looking back toward Tobias, "How about that tour right now." She answered, holding out her hand, waiting for Tobias to take it. She planned on showing him the whole house except her father's room since he was likely going there in a few minutes, assuming daddy Des got him to move of course. Zachary felt exhausted, he was even too tired to notice that his comment had managed to fluster Desmond. He gave a faint smile when Desmond squeaked his concern. He is just so adorable, but I'll be fine... He thought to himself as he finally managed to sit on the couch. His faint smile remained on his face when Desmond told him that he didn't need to apologize because he is exhausted. "A game... a simple game..." He was disappointed at himself for being too tired to stay awake through it.
"You'll be back, won't you Tobias?" He asked, not wanting his brother to be left out. Of course with Alice his brother was likely going to return but he didn't want his brother walking out on him, not when he was just tired. He looked back towards Desmond, "Sleep.... loneliness...." He seemed to ponder it. "I want to stay awake... I want to stay here." He took vacation days, he didn't want to sleep if it meant waking up with nobody besides him. "Sorry." He felt like he was being selfish, but the only selfish thing he felt like doing was forcing himself to stay awake, sleep wasn't about to overtake him. Not yet. I should go make some coffee.... He rose from the couch, almost tripping over himself as he slowly made his way to the kitchen.
tobi was relieved to hear alice say yes. he wasn't sure what he would of done if she had decided to say no to his ideas. it might of been oblivious to alice, but he could tell his brother wanted some alone time with desmond. he didn't have to say a word. you could tell by the look on his face."great!"tobi said with a smile towards alice. before she lead him away to give him the grand house tour he looked over to zach.
his brother meant well, but he needed to realize when enough was enough. he could barely keep his eyes open. he needed to catch up on some sleep."it's fine. as entertaining as it is watching you drool. alice and i will have fun and get some ice cream. I promise i will be back."he said with a laugh and a grin. after that he was gone. following his tour guide around the house before it was time to leave.
Concern remained in Desmond's eyes as he looked at Zachary with hopes he could persuade him to return to sleep. The man obviously still required it after the extensive hours spent at work exhausting himself. There was appreciation as Desmond listened to Tobias speak with Alice, giving the young girl something to do instead of sitting around while he worked towards getting Zachary back to bed. While the tour continued, Desmond watched his crush closely, a small frown obvious on his face from fretting. The faint smile on Zachary's face brought a flutter to the nephilim's heart; he loved witnessing the attractive angel smile. When the game was mentioned, the ginger frowned at Zachary, his face softening. There were vague hints of disappointment that Desmond narrowly noticed.
"Zac... It's okay. You tried to stay up, but you need to go back to sleep, alright? Maybe if you nap now, you can wake up and play with us later," Desmond stated softly, attempting to coax the man to bed.
For a moment, Desmond's gaze flitted towards Alice and Tobias, watching them leave him alone with Zachary. His attention completely returned to the attractive angel, momentarily getting distracted by his adorable appearance. When the man spoke, the temperature of Desmond's cheeks increased intensely as blood rushed towards them. There was a fluttering within the nephilim's heart as he bashfully glanced away. The worry returned hastily when Zachary mentioned staying awake, the ginger's green eyes flitting towards him before averting eye contact.
"B-but you need to rest, Desmond responded quietly. The apology that followed was met with concern. "Don't be... you just need more rest."
Extensive breaths were the method the ginger employed to sooth his rapidly beating heart. The concept of his crush desiring his company to stave loneliness was flustering, especially for the man who feared intimacy. There were concerns about matters developing from being a mere talking buddy which left the nephilim nervous. The 'what if' questions of what could occur increased his heartbeat tenfold, his mind remaining fixated on his bashful concerns until there was a subtle shift in movement. Weight was taken from the couch, a sign of Zachary standing. Immediately, Desmond's eyes flitted towards the attractive angel, noticing the man on his feet and slowly walking towards the kitchen. Quickly, the ginger rose to his feet to follow.
"Zac? What are you doing?" He inquired quietly.
This was not the proper direction of the bedroom, which brought concerns about what his crush could be accomplishing. Quietly, the ginger remained concerned about Zachary pushing himself to be awake longer.
Zachary had slowly made his way into the kitchen, it felt like he was zoning in and out. He didn't want to go to sleep, not when it seemed like Desmond wasn't going to be joining him in the bedroom. Determination sparked his interest in finding the coffee maker so that he could make coffee to drink to wake himself up. In the middle of making the coffee, he had slowly made his way around the kitchen, opening up the cupboard to grab himself a mug before rounding the corner near the trash can. There had been a banana peel on the floor, having failed to make it in the trash can and his feet collided with it and he found himself falling, next thing he knew, he was against the trash can with Desmond on top of him. If trash all over once self wouldn't wake him up, having Desmond so close would have. "I'm so sorry Desmond...." His face had gone red from embarrassment.
He was a sleeping mess, that was the best way to describe how he felt right now. I should have gone back to sleep, if I had, Desmond wouldn't have garbage all over him right now. He found himself leaning against the trash can, failing to attempt to stand up. This was all of his fault, if he had gone back into his room like a good boy, Desmond wouldn't be on top of him covered in trash right about now. I feel so gross.... He blinked, still trying to force himself to stay awake but it was becoming harder by the second. I... I want to enjoy this moment with Desmond but now I'm just being selfish. I shouldn't have come into the kitchen this tired. All I wanted, all I wanted was to have more time with him.
The rest of the evening was somewhat of a blur, if Demond had helped him up, he was too tired to recall. All he knew was by the time he managed to make it to his bed, he no longer had trash all over his figure and the clothes that had trash all over it had been thrown in the hamper. Falling asleep in a fresh pair of clothing was nice, but not as nice as knowing that Desmond was likely nearby, watching and waiting to make sure he didn't do anything else before catching up on some sleep.
The odd direction that his crush had taken resulted in Desmond following him, observing the man's movements. They entered the kitchen, the nephilim glancing around in confusion at the location that Zachary had chosen; why exactly were they in here? The attractive angel required sleep after days of exhaustion, although, there was the possibility that his crush was hungry. A few more hesitant steps were taken into the kitchen, the ginger wondering why the doctor had not answered his question. When Zachary closed the distance between himself and the coffee maker, a frown touched Desmond's lips; the man was determined to remain awake. Concern increased as the nephilim began walking closer to his crush, desiring for rest instead of coffee. He could not allow for Zachary to get caffeine in his system in a desperate attempt to remain awake since the man needed rest.
"Zac... please, just go to sleep. You need rest and we both know that" Desmond insisted gently. "Nobody will be upset if you decide to sleep instead of play the game. Please, lay down... you need to rest."
The distance was closed slowly as Zachary began rounding the corner, Desmond reaching towards him in hopes of grabbing the angel's shoulder. Before he could gain a firm grip, there was a sudden jerk in motion as they both lost balance. It became obvious that Zachary had fallen, Desmond believing it was possibly from the exhaustion the man felt. Together, they began falling towards the ground, the loud sound of trashcan's sudden disturbance entering the air briefly. Once Desmond collided with the floor, he felt the trashcan smack into his lower shoulder before rolling off. The contents spilled, trash covering them immediately, although, Desmond could barely notice. There was heat settling on his cheeks as blood coursed towards them, giving them a vivid red tint. Suddenly, the ginger's heart rate increased immensely as though it was rattling against his ribcage the longer they remained position.
The unexpected fall had left Desmond on top of his beloved crush, the ginger's apprehension towards touching sparking hastily. They were within an extremely close proximity, the scout hovering above his friend, frozen as the anxieties invaded his mind at a high intensity. The apology made the nephilim's eyes flit towards the attractive angel, cheeks turning redder when he witnessed the man's blush. Breathing became faster, more shallow than usual from close proximity with the man he loved.
"I-i-it's fine!" He squeaked out louder than intended.
Embarrassment claimed the ginger quickly as he pulled away from Zachary and rose, retreating from the scene for a few moments in a fluster. Breaths were forced into extensive ones, the nephilim attempting to sooth the intense emotions of anxiety. After acquiring a moment to gain composure, Desmond returned to assist the attractive angel in getting up and cleaned from the messy incident. Once again, he sent Zachary to bed, cleaned and making certain to leave fresh clothes out. The nephilim returned to the kitchen, a sigh escaping his lips as he gazed down at his filthy clothes; once Tobias and Alice returned, he would teleport home and clean up. While occasionally checking in on Zachary to make certain he was resting, Desmond began cleaning up the mess created by the trash can. The floor was freshly cleaned, the nephilim taking extra care to keep away atrocious scents and any dirt marks from the floor.
