Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Nicholas would have liked nothing more than to be able to dress up in formal attire and attend the dance, but he would instead be required to dress in his TRS uniform and patrol the City Hall as to make sure the citizens were safe from any Terrors that might be in the area. He told himself that it would be fine, with his luck he might run into Christina and the last thing he wanted was to not be prepared. Once he finished arming himself, he grabbed his stuff and walked out the apartment door, making sure to lock it behind himself. The City Hall was crowded, as could be expected but at the same time it gave Nicholas even more determination to do his job so that maybe in the near future he could enjoy it for himself. He slowly patrolled the streets, looking and waiting for any unexpected Terror to show up out of nowhere for him to kill it.
After a few minutes he hadn't come across any yet, it was easy for him to feel bored and long to be in The City Hall, enjoying the music and being around the citizens. It took a lot of effort to keep walking the streets instead of going in to find out who all was in there. After a little while, he heard his radio go off, mentioning that a Terror was in sight so he went in that direction to help kill it off. Killing Terrors off isn't so bad.... He sighed as he slowly started walking around the streets again. I just wish I had something more interesting to do. As if to spark some interest, he happened to look towards the City Hall with longing eyes. Noticing a woman that with purple hair slip inside. Christina? He thought to himself as he slowly moved towards City Hall, rushing to try and keep up with the woman that possibly was his twin sister. He stopped once he was inside, looking around for the purple haired woman but she was nowhere in sight.
He happened to notice a guy near the kissing booth, finding himself staring at the group of guys that was standing in line for their turn. He couldn't help but stare at them, wishing that he could have gone in that line but Christina... where the heck had she gone? He thought she had gone inside but he couldn't find her in here, then of course the guy at the kissing booth was attractive and it was too hard to look away so he found himself staring in that direction instead. Oh what I'd give for it to be my turn, it isn't fair why do they get to? He thought to himself as he continued staring. Oh what I'd give for him to be mine.... The sudden urge to move towards the kissing booth was impossible to avoid and he made his way over there before taking his place in line. The wait in line felt like it was taking forever but Nicholas was just having an impatient moment, deep in thought on how he would manage to get a kiss from this boy as well.
He was forced from his thoughts when he came to realize it was his turn, it almost didn't even feel like he was supposed to be on patrol anymore even though he should have gone back outside now. He took a step forward, the urge to claim dibs on this boy was becoming too much and he couldn't hold himself back. "MY TURN." He hadn't meant to yell it, that had come out on accident but he couldn't bring himself to regret it either. His duties seemed to be pushed aside right this moment as he looked into this guy's eyes, this guy who was the cutest in this room.
Unlike the previous year, Arlo managed to gain freedom from the binds of his demanding criminal career to attend the Valentine's Day Dance. A soft spot was held for romance, the concepts of being loved by another individual in that sense. Although, the year prior gave the hellhound an opportunity to murder an ex-boyfriend who decided, similar to a majority of his other exes, attempted to manipulate him. Tonight, however, would be different since the small man signed up for the kissing booth. As he entered the decorated city hall, a wide lip-tight grin was on his face. There was excitement in the air upon entry, the crowd not being a bother to Arlo do to many lavish parties thrown by his grandfather. Some eyes were drawn his way as he slowly weaved his way through the bodies as he enjoyed the booming music and scent of food.
Gaining the opportunity to dress formally only remained a minor fortune since the hellhound worked effortlessly to keep an adorable appearance after dawning the suit. The black mop of hair atop his head was well groomed in its usual styling, which added to his common innocent look. As the young man moved around the crowd, his eyes flitted over the various men in the room, mentally scoring their appearances and created flirtatious plans for once his kissing booth shift was over. Shortly, his red eyes caught a glimpse of the structure decorated in pinks and reds with various hearts on it. Cheerful strides were taken towards the booth, Arlo relieving the girl of her duties. For only a few moments he appeared to be sitting down at the provided wooden stool until costumers lined up and Arlo found himself being gifted with kisses and attention.
Each person seemed to pass like a blur as each pair of lips pressed up against his own lacked any sparks mentioned in movies. There were pleasant faces and those few received a flirtatious comment in hopes of seeking them out later in the festivities to possibly see where the night took them. There was a pause as the hellhound completed another session with another individual, his eyes drifting over the various people. A longing was obvious in the short man's eyes as he witnessed the numerous couples taking themselves out to the dance floor and exchanging romantic words. Why was he incapable of possessing these manners of relationships? His eyes continued wandering and finally caught the door, where they lingered on the newcomer. Slightly, Arlo leaned in an attempt for a better view at the white-haired stranger who entered the room. Merely having his gaze locked on this mysterious man made the criminal curious.
After a few moments, his thoughts were broken by his newest costumer who received a quick said apology alongside the usual kiss and flirtatious line in hopes of his apology succeeding. When Arlo glanced back towards the door, a sorrowful, inaudible sigh escaped his mouth. The stranger was no longer lurking there and the hellhound found himself clueless of where exactly the man could have disappeared to. Instead of pondering it further, the criminal's focus returned to the line at the kissing booth; there were plenty who desired to acquire his attention for a brief session. Once again, the blur of passing faces began as Arlo started to smoothly state more flirtatious comments at the men who occupied the line up for those extensive minutes. After one particularly handsome ravenette girl who merely wanted a kiss on the cheek, Arlo's eyes returned to the line and a glimmer of surprise entered his expression.
Standing in the kissing booth line was gorgeous white-haired man he had viewed enter City Hall. The smile broadened upon witnessing the man in the line; that meant he desired a kiss after all. Instantly, Arlo's mind began rushing through his best flirtatious remarks that he reserved for the extra adorable while his eyes took a few moments to analyze the man. The TRS uniform that hugged his body, the manner of which his hair was styled, the general shape of his body and face; to Arlo it was the definition of perfection. This was a jackpot moment as prayers were mentally given in hopes of gaining the chance to spend time with this incredible handsome man. There was a silent, that was until the man exclaimed about his turn which caused the hellhound's cheeks to tint bright pink. Almost like somebody flicked a switch, Arlo found himself feeling extremely flustered as his heart beat increased immensely in pace and suddenly the self-conscious thoughts began.
The sudden ambush of emotions startled the hellhound, and shortly he leaned backwards in the stool and due to lack of backing and ended up falling. Colliding with the floor was not painful and merely caused a minor headache. Embarrassed from his momentary lack of balance, Arlo rushed back to his feet and smiled sheepishly at the adorable man.
"S-sorry.... I... uhh, your looks are so... st-stunning i-it.... uh... r-rocked me off my chair," Arlo stated in a flustered manner.
There was still a reddish tint painted across Arlo's face as the sheepishness remained on his countenance. It was peculiar to receive all these spiraling emotions. Their randomly appearance was strange and gradually the hellhound was getting concerned over giving the impression of a bashful goof in front of the stranger. He desired some moments alone with this mysterious man, and remained over-zealous at the concept of being allowed to kiss him.
"Anyways, I... um... suppose you want a k-kiss from me... right?" Arlo asked, a happy tone in his voice.
The concept was making his heart flutter, his cheeks feeling incredibly hot. The hellhound was trembling with anticipation over receiving an opportunity like this. A deep breath was taken, allowing Arlo to gain enough courage to stare back at those enchanting duel colours eyes. He felt lost in the stranger's eyes, finding them beautiful and captivating. Staring into them shortly caused Arlo's breathing to quicken, his heart fluttering a little more; he had never been this flustered before.
Nicholas watched as the guy's cheeks turned pink, though Nicholas hadn't thought to reach out until he noticed the guy leaning backwards on the stool before falling off of it. He had missed him, but he hovered over the counter of the kissing booth as he looked to see if the guy was okay. "Are you okay?" If the counter wasn't in his way, he would have rushed to help the guy back into his feet but as it was currently in his way, he didn't want to invade his personal space even if he wanted to help the guy up. The guy was quick to get back on his feet, giving him a sheepishly smile, seeing it made Nicholas' heart flutter. This guy was too adorable. He blushed at the guy's compliment back his direction. "I apologize, I just couldn't resist, your so adorable." He complimented back at the guy, of whom, he wished he had the name of.
The guy brought up the subject of the kissing booth and he blushed even more before remembering that he was in fact in line for a kissing booth. "Oh right, yes. Yes I do." He reached up to scratch the back of his neck nervously as the moment of truth had come for his turn after all. He couldn't help but feel slightly sad that it would be coming to an end as quickly as this moment had started. Nicholas leaned in, preparing himself to kiss Arlo, just before his lips were supposed to touch Arlo's his radio went off. "Requesting backup, there is a Terror." The voice radioed in, though it was tempting to pull away and handle his duty, instead he leaned in to kiss Arlo anyway. At first he thought he was going to give him a quick and sweet one, but he couldn't bring himself to pull away and found himself trying to kiss Arlo deeply instead.
His radio kept going off, he couldn't help but wonder how much trouble he'd be in for leaving his duty to guard the City Hall from Terrors to be kissing the cute boy at the kissing booth. Nicholas slowly pulled away, giving an apologetic smile at Arlo, for the long kiss that might have not been approved to give in the first place and the fact that he would have to leave the City Hall before anybody noticed that Nicholas, hunter who was supposed to be on duty, was messing around instead. "I'm Nicholas." Giving his name to Arlo in case there was a small chance in him being interested in meeting up later, Nicholas rushed back out of City Hall, lifting the radio to his lips. "I'm on it." He reported in, thankfully nobody seemed to notice that he had been in City Hall. He rushed down the street and saw the Terror headed in his direction.
Thoughts of the cute boy standing at the kissing booth crossed his mind, oh how he wished he wasn't on duty, he would have stayed with him all night if given the chance. The Brute made its way towards Nicholas, who reached behind his back to grab the shotgun that was currently strapped down. He prepared his aim and fired towards the Brute. Damn.... if only somebody else was nearby to help me out.... On the bright side, he got the Brutes attention, even if it had started moving slightly faster towards him. I need to move.... He wasn't normally a runner against Terrors but he wasn't ready to die yet either so he bolted for it, making sure to take a route that didn't have much population. He glanced behind him to see that the Brute had chosen to follow after him. He felt mixed feelings about being happy and upset, the citizens would be safe for another day but he wouldn't be unless he kept his distance from that Brute chasing after him.
He stopped running and shot at the Brute again. Why are they always so hard to kill? He was pull from his thoughts as Brute came charging towards him. Too close.... He created fire in his hands before forcing a shield up, the Brute smashed down against it and he was forced off his feet as the pressure of the force sent him backwards. And this is why I shouldn't be fighting that Brute alone.... Where the hell is everybody? He had dropped his radio when he was pushed backwards, he looked at the Brute, disappointed that he wouldn't be able to call in reinforcements. Somebody radioed in, asking where the Terror went before the Brute stepped on the radio and crushed it. Oh great.... no reinforcements or a radio.... Just a damn Brute. He sighed, slowly standing to his feet he again shot at the Brute before turning around to run for it.
How the heck am I supposed to kill the Brute by myself.... Oh my god, I'm so screwed. Unaware to Nicholas somebody had radioed in to let the hunters know that he was with the Terror prior to them not being able to contact him. Even if he had known, it wouldn't make him feel better, regardless of the fact that he was trying to keep his distance from the Brute, it was still keeping up with him fairly well and he was growing tired from all of the running.
Perfection was the word Arlo would use to describe the wonderful beauty that was this stranger. Balance was something that the young hellhound could usually maintain, but this mysterious man made him incredibly bashful. Everything the stranger accomplished sent Arlo's heart into a fit. Even the fact the white-haired man had leaned over the counter in an attempt to steady him, although, it unfortunately failed. Yet, the shorter man did not mind remotely considering the question about his well-being followed closely afterwards. The question, oftentimes common and insignificant to a majority, caused Arlo's heart to beat faster. The stranger was concerned about him and it was oddly endearing. Normally when people inquired, it was meaningless kindness, but coming from this man's lips made him incredibly happy. There was a silence on Arlo's end as he discovered he had been staring into those gorgeous eyes for an extensive amount of times. He averted eye contact and kept a bashful grin on his face before gradually regaining confidence and determination enter with the mix; he was going to sweep this man off his feet.
"Hmm? Of course I am fine, buuuuuut seeing your beautiful face makes it aaaalllll better," he responded smoothly.
The broad grin remained on Arlo face as he peeked around the white-haired man. Those in the remainder of line seemed mildly annoyed at the lengthy wait, but the hellhound did not care. As it currently stood, the company he had been gifted with was his favourite. Shortly, his gaze returned to the stranger, infatuation obvious in his red eyes. The compliment of his appearance made a slight blush come to the hellhounds cheeks as he cheerfully giggled in response. Being called cute or any other variation was something he adored after all. When the blush coloured the hunter's cheeks at the mentioning of the kiss, Arlo's heart skipped a beat. The red tint that painted his face made the stranger look absolutely adorable.
"Soooooo cuuuuute," Arlo chirped.
A giddy smile remained plastered on the small man's face over the concept of kissing the adorable stranger. His heart was racing and the amount of excitement he felt was immense. As he leaned in, Arlo heard the radio erupt with noise which concerned the criminal. The man was a hunter which could possibly mean he was required to leave before granting the hellhound the chance to feel his lips against his own. Although, the small man was shortly surprised when the stranger's lips pressed up against his own. Immediately, Arlo's heart began fluttering madly as he noticed the softness and the excitement in kissing the stranger. His eyes gently closed as he enjoyed the feeling; it felt like a dream and this stranger was Prince Charming. There was joy in being kissed and when the white-haired man began kissing him deeper, the hellhound put no struggle against it. The duration was long, but when the mysterious man slowly pulled away, Arlo wished it could last longer. Across the criminals cheeks and the bridge of his nose was a red blush as his lips tugged up into a smile. The entire kiss felt amazing, although, he had the suspicion that the stranger would be required to leave. Seeing the apologetic smile made a tiny giggle rise in Arlo. When he heard the man mentioned his name as Nicholas and listened to the retreating footsteps, the hellhound watched with a longing in his eyes. When the man disappeared, the corners of his mouth dropped into a frown. This cruel twist in forcing Nicolas to leave was something Arlo hated, at least until somebody tapped his shoulder.
His red eyes drifted to the side as another boy informed him his time in the booth was completed. Without a reply, the hellhound slid off the stool, nearly knocking it over in the process, and quickly left the booth. There was no possibility that Arlo was giving up this chance since the kiss he shared with Nicholas was incredibly and those emotions had never been felt with anybody else. Gradually, the hellhound managed to shoulder his way through the crowd and slip out the City Hall doors. Once given some free space, he shifted into the black wolf form that was oftentimes faster than his human one. People were surprised, some uncertain of what was occurring until the tiny wolf took his place. Once fully shifted, Arlo looked around with perked ears as he followed some peculiar instinct to the direction Nicholas went. His paws were swift as they pounded on the sidewalk, carrying the small wolf quickly around the city. As he drew closer, Arlo's ears pricked to the sound of loud footsteps. Caution was taken as the hellhound drew closer to where the sound erupted from. His red eyes gazed around the corner, noticing the large, imposing shape of a brute and the beautiful hunter he had kissed fighting it. Obviously, Nicholas was alone and running from the horror that appeared to be chasing it. That already informed Arlo that he either required help or had a plan. Without a second thought, the hellhound rushed forward with enhanced speed driving him. Once drawing close, the flames sparked to life around him and when he stopped a few feet behind the brute he forced them forward.
The flames surged forth, their intent following their master's with plans of wrapping around the terror even if the amount of time would become minimal. All that mattered was making certain that Nicholas would be safe, especially after the enchanting meeting that Arlo had with him. There was a vibe the white-haired man gave and the hellhound was pleased to effected by it.
Nicholas couldn't help but blush slightly when Arlo claimed that seeing his face made it all the better, the fact that he felt better just by looking at him and it wasn't everyday that he got a compliment either. Though hearing those words from Arlo made the heart in his chest flutter from excitement. The blush on his face went a deeper red when Arlo called him cute in return. The kiss was meant to be short and sweet but Nicholas had kept it going, even going as far as to take his chances with kissing deeper before he was forced to pull away. He had given his name and left, somewhat sad that the guy hadn't given him a name in return but what could he expect, if he wanted it that badly he should have stayed around to get it. In fact, having the Brute chasing after him, had made him feel regret for not choosing to stay in the long run, though his life was a TRS member so what done, was done, all he could do now was try and avoid getting killed by it.
He had turned around, tired from running away from the Brute, preparing to try and attack it again just to be surprised that a black wolf had leaped at the Brute from behind. He hadn't seen anybody in TRS shift into that form, though it was possible he had a feeling in his guilt that this wasn't somebody who was apart of his cause as he had chosen to be. Though they had chosen to help him anyway and he wasn't about to run the risk of them getting killed for assisting him, so he created another fire ball in his hand and threw it towards the Brute who had turned it's back towards him to try and get the wolf and flames off of it. The fire ball and hit the Brute and it had caught on fire, thanks to the wolf's flames and the fire ball that hit it at close range. Now all that is left to do is to shoot it. Just to make sure that he had a clear shot, he would wait for the wolf to hopefully take notice of him.
If the wolf had taken notice and backed away he would fire the gun at the Brute, if not he would wait patiently for a possible opening, though he wasn't a fan of taking the risk of hitting the wolf when the Brute was his main target.
Whenever Nicolas' cheeks would get touched with red, Arlo's heart fluttered from the adorable appearance. Witnessing blush form on the faces of those he flirted with always made him cheerful, but seeing the white-haired man's face get painted with red was especially endearing. Everything the handsome man accomplished managed to send the hellhound's heart into a fit. As time progressed, it was becoming increasingly obvious to Arlo that he found this stranger attractive. Nobody prior to this white-haired beauty possessed the capability to make him nervous or cause heart palpitations which automatically meant Nicolas was special. It was the reason behind the criminal's determination to rescue him and assist in defeating the brute. Protectiveness was already flaring towards the stranger after the incredible kiss they shared; it caused Arlo's clingy attitude to spark. Either way, the hellhound's objective was to heroically save Nicolas, even if he was interfering with a TRS related affair, then perhaps beg for a slow dance of possible.
Leaping atop the brute's mighty back could be viewed as stupidity, but Arlo knew his enhanced endurance would provide protection. In his wolf form, he dug his sharp nails into the creatures skin. Suddenly, the brute jerked in an attempt to dislodge the tiny black wolf, but Arlo kept a firm grip. Patiently, he awaited for the brute to tire before taking his claws on creature's back which caused it to cry out in pain. Immediately, it bucked hard which left Arlo flying towards the ground. He met asphalt in a tumbling mess, although, the pain was mild due to his high endurance levels. There were insignificant scratches where blood formed in tiny beads, unnoticeable beneath the thick black fur. As the hellhound slowly stood back to his paws, quick to recover from the blow, he could already presume bruises would form, specifically around his right shoulder after landing on it. The scrape across his right shoulder remained evidence as glossy, red blood dribble down from the wound. After the fight, Arlo knew he would be required to heal in order to dance and tightly hug Nicholas without concern for his injuries. His red eyes gazed up at the monstrous creature who remained furious from the fire assault and vicious clawing. It turned to face him, Arlo growing alert upon witnessing the brute's turning.
The hellhound tensed, but soothed when a fire ball was flung towards the creature. It caused the criminal to glance around the imposing terror and notice Nicolas preparing a shot. For a moment, Arlo remained where he was until realizing that the white-haired man desired for him to move, almost like a second sense was already aware of the notion. With that, the black wolf ran, using his enhanced speed to his advantage as he sped away from the creature, avoiding a last minute punch from the brute. The creatures fist collided with the street below, breaking a portion horrendously. A few tiny specks of debris littered his black fur, but was ignored as Arlo managed a wide loop around the creature and gained distance between himself an the terror as he stopped once behind the armed hunter. He waited with anticipation for Nicholas to finish the terror off and allowed his more animal nature a moment to lick at his shoulder. It rasped the scrap marks, cleaning the blood while Arlo waited patiently, clearly unperturbed by the recent combat.
The pain may have been mild to Arlo but Nicholas could sense the pain when the wolf had hit the ground. What is this strange feeling? He thought to himself, somewhat confused before throwing the fire ball so that the Brute would keep its focus on him instead of the wolf that was so much closer to it. He waited for Arlo to move before firing his gun at the Brute, finishing it off. With the Brute finally dead he looked behind him to see that the wolf was standing behind him. Watching the wolf clean his wounds was adorable, but he could still sense the pain coming from the wolf and he wasn't competently sure why that would be. "Are you okay?" He put the gun back on its strap on his back as he looked over the wolf with worried eyes. He would need to report this in but because he was without a radio, he didn't see the harm in checking on the wolf first, seeing as this wolf was the reason why he was still alive to this very day.
He couldn't help but think back to his kiss from earlier and how he missed the boy that had been hiding behind the kissing booth, he found himself slightly jealous to think that there might have been plenty of others that got a chance to kiss him after he had left to handle the Brute. It was what it was though, he wouldn't be able to go back and find out if the boy was still there or not. He would need to head back to HQ and get himself a new radio because the Brute had destroyed his current one though. He moved to sit on the ground, tired from all of the firing. It seemed like a better idea to wait for help to come find them instead of wondering off and taking the risk of walking into another Brute when he was already tired from killing off the last one.
While the battle was ended with the crackle of a shotgun spitting fire and metal towards the hulking creature, Arlo continued tending to the scrape. Momentarily, his red eyes glanced at the brute as the shot smacked into it, bringing an end to the terror's life. It tumbled to the ground, body already dissipating into a black ash as it descended from its once mighty height. When it collapsed to the ground as a heap of ashes, the hellhound's tail wagged in joy over the concept. Shortly, his eyes trailed up towards the adorable white-hair man, joy over him being safe coursing through the criminal. When inquired about his health, Arlo's heart leaped in joy as he nodded his wolf head yes. With wide, red eyes the small wolf continued to stare up at Nicholas, pleased with the notion of being near.
A final few licks were given to comfort the scrapes, assuring that they were properly cleansed in order to limit the filth on the white dress shirt beneath his tux that would return upon transformation. Once satisfied with the wound's cleanliness, the hellhound began returning to his original form, the human one. The thirty second transformation progressed smoothly, a wide grin evident on the short man's face. When the shift was completed, Arlo released a cheerful giggle as he stared at Nicholas with a broad smile. Immediately, the criminal hastily moved towards the hunter to wrap his arms around him, happily laughing all the while, the pain being ignored. The hellhound's enhanced endurance was enough to allow him to withstand the stinging in order to try and hug Nicholas.
"Found you! Found you!" He chanted playfully before looking up at Nicholas. A pout marked Arlo's facial expression. "You weren't suppose to try and get hurt! That's illegal, especially after you kissed me! Baaaaaaad Nic!"
There was a hint of teasing captured in Arlo's voice while he "chastised" the hunter for trying to get hurt. Shortly, the smile returned to short man's face as he continued gazing up at Nicholas. More giggles escaped the criminal's mouth while he cheerfully stood near the white-haired man. A thought soon occurred to the hellhound, which was that he had yet to provide his name to the adorable man.
"By the way, I'm Arlo! Arlo Norwood!" He said, a giggle proceeding as he decided to tease. "Feel free to stalk me, I won't tell anyone!"
The grin felt permanently etched onto the hellhound's face as he continued happily chuckling at his flirtatious teasing towards Nicholas. It was obvious that despite the brief amount of time spent in the white-haired man's company that Arlo was beginning to enjoy being around him. There was the greedy desire to spend any time that was available with Nicholas, especially considering how adorable he was.
Nicholas looked at the wolf and smiled when it had nodded its head yes, he felt a flood of relief before zoning out to think about his crush back at City Hall. The wolf had finished licking its scrapes it had shifted into that of a boy, the very same boy that he had been thinking about moments before. He stood in shock as he looked at the boy in front of him, speechless but overwhelmed with joy than worry, than joy again. At least he was safe and didn't appear to be too hurt but that action could have been costly and he didn't want anything to happen to this boy, this boy that he longed to know the name of because he realized he never got it. The boy had a grin on his face and before Nicholas could muster up a comment, the boy had giggled before wrapping his arms around him.
Nicholas blushed as he wasn't a fan of being hugged in public, it was nerve wreaking and he didn't think the public cared to see him showing affection with this boy even if he enjoyed his arms wrapped around himself. The boy laughed and it took a lot of effort to stay put, the last thing he wanted was to run the risk of upsetting his crush. The boy spoke about finding him and he couldn't help but wonder how long the boy had been looking for him until he remembered how long it might have been before the wolf had saved him, before this boy had saved him. His face still held its blush as a grin slowly formed on Nicholas' face. "Is that so?" He flirted in return, wrapping his arms around the boy. "Than it is a good thing you found me." He teased, trying to figure out a way to get the boy in front of him to blush in return.
The boy had given his name, but when he made the other suggestion Nicholas couldn't help but blush again at the thought of watching his crush. "Now now, that is suggesting that I'm a stalker Arlo...." He teased, wondering how long they would have before the other hunters were likely to find them. Having fought that Brute alone with the help of Arlo had still taken its toll on him and he longed for a long break. Though being with Arlo was great too, but maybe he could take Arlo with him? Only time would tell. "Seeing you here is a surprise, I thought you were at the kissing booth?" He asked, mostly interested in finding out if Arlo found him to be a crush just as much as he felt right now.
There was plenty of joy in seeing Nicholas, although, the blush that painted his face made Arlo extremely happy. Witnessing the blush on his latest crush's face made the hellhound's heart flutter and the grin broaden. The situation was tremendous considering the smaller boy was embracing the handsome white-haired man, which was something he enjoyed. A cheerful expression remained on Arlo's face since he was pleased to have his arms wrapped around Nicholas, especially in a more public location. Increasing the amount of people catching a glimpse of him hugging his crush made flirting competitors less likely; nobody was allowed to take Nicholas from him! The slow forming grin accompanied by flirtatious words made Arlo's grin widen and a soft giggle escape his lips. There was the slightest hints of pink marking his cheeks which was shortly joined by an overwhelming affection in his red eyes.
"Yes, it is!" He chirped before laughing happily. "You're happy to see me, right? Because seeing a smile on your face makes me sooooo happy!"
Once the white-haired man's arms were around him, Arlo gently snuggled the man who was trapped in his embrace in hopes of deepening the blush on Nicholas' face. Shortly, Arlo began feeling at home within the man's arms and soon melted into the embrace. It was difficult to resist flat-out asking this stranger to become his boyfriend, although, even the whimsical hellhound was intelligent enough to know to hold his tongue. Taking everything too hastily could result in this handsome man disliking him, which was something that Arlo remained concerned about.
"You're really comfy. I already demand unlimited hugs," Arlo murmured quietly.
A smile remained on the hellhound's face while he stood, embracing Nicholas. Separation was the last desire on his mind since there was an immense comfort and warm from being embraced. The hellhound's grip was tightened for a moment until the pain flared in his scraped shoulder. It caused the criminal to pout slightly as the unfair circumstance of being unable to hug his crush tightly, although, it brought a thought to Arlo's mind. There was a possibility Nicholas had gotten hurt prior to his arrival which meant assuring the man's safety was officially took precedence. Another quick squeeze was given to the white-haired man, the hellhound staring up at him with curious eyes as he gauged his expression; the last thing he wanted was for Nicholas to act tough and truly be injured.
"Nic? Did you get hurt?" He inquired as concerned marked his countenance.
Should his crush be injured, Arlo already planned to use the blood from his scrape in order to make a hex circle to heal the man since Nicholas was important. Although, when the hellhound witnessed the man blush at his stalking comment, a giggle escaped his mouth; this man was adorable when his face was flushed red. More soft laughing proceeded after the white-haired man spoke about the implications of what the criminal had stated. Instantly, Arlo's lips drew up into a flirtatious smirk as his mind ran through the various pick-up lines he could utter to his handsome man. The objective had not changed which was to claim this man as his and possibly get a slow dance with him (or even more time in general).
"Buuuut Nic, you already committed a crime," Arlo began. An innocent appearance crossed his face as he stared up at Nicholas with wide, red eyes. "I must say though, you must be an amazing thief since you stole my heart from across the room."
After making his flirtatious comment, the hellhound began joyfully giggling again. The amount of affection Arlo was displaying was with the intent of making his feelings obvious. He could not allow anybody attempting to steal Nicholas from him, which meant working swiftly and diminishing hopes through openly displaying his affection. When asked about the kissing booth, the criminal giggled and snuggled his crush more.
"My relief came, so I followed," he explained. "Which means, if you don't mind, can I spend time with you? Pleeeeaaaase?"
This peculiar man who created these heart flutters and whose very presence brought anxious emotions was hastily making himself important to the clingy hellhound. Despite spending a brief amount of time in Nicholas' company, Arlo could already notice that there was something special about this hunter. The vibes that radiated off of him seemed to pull the criminal closer; almost like a magnet. Furthermore, the white-haired man possessed an incredibly attractive appearance which pleased the ravenette's eyes and constituted as his new definition of perfection.
Nicholas couldn't help but feel somewhat embarrassed that he was embracing Arlo out in public, though he had mustered up the courage to kiss Arlo at the booth, there were less people watching them and it was somewhat expected since that is why the line had been formed in the first place but here.... the last thing he wanted was to cause a possible scene. He enjoyed having Arlo's arms wrapped around him, perhaps maybe even a little bit too much, but having those people around.... whether they were staring or not.... it was just too much and he was having a hard time slowing his fast pace heart beat. Arlo asked him a question and he forced a smile on his face. "Of course I'm happy to see you." He couldn't hold back his blush when Arlo complimented his smile, showing interest in seeing it again. He had hugged Arlo back, mostly to show that he really was enjoying the hug and it was somewhat helping him forget they were out in public.
He felt like his courage to continue this hug had come falling apart when his face became a bigger pink when Arlo called him comfy and declared unlimited hugs. The whole world didn't need to know that.... or he didn't think so. So even though Arlo was shorter than him, he had leaned forward to hide his face in Arlo's shoulder by bending slightly. Nobody was going to see his face, the only one that would notice his nervousness would be Arlo because he was breathing slightly faster because he heart beat kept skipping a few beats from excitement. Though he was somewhat sore from his injuries he ignored them for the sake of being able to hug Arlo. Or at least he had until Arlo's grip had tightened around him. It took a lot of effort to appear fine to the hug, he didn't want Arlo thinking he was injured because he could handle it like a man. Arlo had given him a quick squeeze and to his disappointment had let go of him. Arlo had asked the question and he looked over at him with a serious face expression.
"I'm fine." It had changed to a fake innocent smile. "Nothing a little ice couldn't help fix." It was a good thing Arlo had come when he had, else he would have been squished like a bug. Though I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to go around having tight hugs after that damn Brute knocked me off of my feet earlier, that was some force and I felt the full power of it even though I tried blocking with a shield. Though it could have been worse, I might have broken something if it had hit me without my shield there. He laughed at Arlo's comment, than blushed when Arlo completed it by stating that he stole his heart from across the room. He was surprised, to think this boy liked him just as much as he liked him in return, it was flattering and a dream come true. He pulled from his thoughts, just in case Arlo thought to bring up the subject of himself he would change it back onto him first. "Are you okay, Arlo?" He had leaped into the fight with the Terror even though he wasn't apart of TRS, it was a very dangerous move.
Nicholas couldn't help but feel happy when Arlo had said somebody took his spot and he went looking for him, though he had to shake his head because he wasn't supposed to approve the chance or Arlo being hurt. It was his job to protect after all and protect his crush, he shall. He blushed again when Arlo asked if he could spend time with him, he hesitated because he hadn't yet told Arlo that he was really in some pain after all. "I don't know, I'm still on the clock and it is dangerous dealing with Terrors." He was somewhat disappointed in knowing that Arlo might have to part from him just because he had a job to do. All it took was for him to claim he was fine, or for somebody to heal him and he'd be back to work. "That isn't to say that we couldn't exchange phone numbers and hang out when I'm not working...." He added, hinting that he did want to spend more time with Arlo.
Embracing Nicholas with the watching eyes of some civilians locked onto them did nothing to dent Arlo's confidence. It was difficult to resist hugging and flirting with the attractive white-haired man. Merely being in his presence caused the hellhound's heart to flutter with delight. The most immense joy was found in listening to the rapid beating of Nicholas' heart. Hearing it gave Arlo confidence to continue providing compliments and flirtatious words. The blush that coloured Nicholas' face furthered the short man's confidence and caused the cheerful smile to maintain its reign over Arlo's expression. The confirmation of happiness in seeing him made the criminal's heart skip a beat. There was reassurance in those words since it suggested that his flirtatious attitude was welcomed with the desire for his company. The slightest hints of pink touched Arlo's cheeks, the confirmation feeling more significant from Nicholas than anybody else.
The instant that Nicholas attempted to hide, Arlo noticed his crush's anxiousness. A gentle giggle escaped his throat since the hellhound found it adorable. Alas, he possessed no desires to make the stranger that he adored uncomfortable, which fuelled the reason to release him after the squeeze. Once capable of viewing Nicholas' face, Arlo scrutinized his countenance for any signs of pain. They were hidden excellently, but there was a peculiar sensation that came over the hellhound. There was a subtly, but noticeable feeling of ghostly pain. His instincts informed him it was something sparking from Nicholas and gradual led him to the conclusion of a deception. Before Arlo could rebuke against his crush's statement about being alright, but was cut off by the question returning. Immediately, the hellhound's expression shifted to concern as he stared up at it Nicholas with wide, red eyes. For a few moments, the criminal remained silent as he gazed at the stranger. There was a requirement to assure the man's safety after the sensation.
"... Nic... are you lying to me? Arlo began, a pout entering his countenance. "I can use hexes to heal both of us, so I will ask again, did you get hurt badly? Because I want you to be alright."
The hellhound's eyes remained wide, feigning in innocence while he stared at Nicholas with concern. They begged for a truthful answer as they attempted to remain locked on the stranger's beautiful duel coloured eyes. Although, when the flirtatious comment caused Nicholas' cheeks to tiny red, a tiny smile crossed the criminal's lips. Then the concern arrived which made Arlo's heart flutter as though the stranger's worry over his well-being was more touching than others. The smile broadened at the worry since Arlo found it endearing.
"I'm okay. I got a little scraped up, but I can make a hex to fix that, Arlo answered.
Another pout crossed the hellhound's face when Nicholas stated he was still working. There was disappointment crossing the criminal's expression. His desires to slow dance with the adorable stranger or generally have him close were smashed. The notion became worse as the hellhound began worrying himself with ideas of never gaining the chance to see the handsome man again. Gradually, his concepts grew more ridiculous from his imagination and self-conscious feeling taking over. They gave him thoughts that involved the stranger meeting somebody better or perhaps finding himself a partner instant that Arlo was away from him. Then, the most concerning thought crossed the hellhound's mind as he stood disappointed. There were men who decided to flirt and interact with others intimately to see if they enjoyed it, so what if Nicholas was one of those few and ultimately wondered if he found men attractive. The concerns were consuming the young criminal, that was until Nicholas mentioned exchanging numbers which caused Arlo to perk up. A wide grin crossed the hellhound's face as he began jumping up and down excitedly before fetching his phone from his pocket without even saying a word. The case of his phone was a simplistic pattern of sweets and animals which was thinner and easier to store in his suit pocket. After a few hasty taps on the screen, Arlo managed to pull up his contacts in time to show the screen to Nicholas.
"YES, PLEASE! Arlo happily exclaimed. "You can put your number in then I can text you! Then you have mine!
Excitement was written across Arlo's face while he looked at Nicholas. The concept of gaining his crush's number causing his heart rate to skyrocket. There would be other dances after all, which meant a second chance to ask Nicholas for a slow dance. Date ideas were already fluttering through the criminals mind as he trembles with excitement, a wide grin upon his lips.
Nicholas had noticed Arlo's face expression change into concern and he couldn't help but feel guilty for lying to him, playing it off as if he weren't hurt after all. Thoughts of trying to not worry Arlo crossed his mind, until Arlo had started pouting.... He couldn't bring himself to hide the fact that he had been hurt by the Brute after all. "That Brute was really strong.... if you hadn't come by, I'd be a goner...." He had raised a hand to rub the back of his neck before feeling feeling a tense pain in his arm. Oh great..... I'm hurting all over but my arm hurts.... most likely from the Brute smacking against my shield.... and here I thought I only got hurt because I lost my balance He felt defeated, there was no way that he'd be able to keep this tough act up even if he wanted to. "Perhaps more bruised up then I thought...." He answered after a i moment, unable to admit that he might have been more beat up than he had once thought. Though his arm was in worse shape because the Brute's whole strange had come crashing down on him earlier. After feeling the pain from his left arm from earlier, he had found his right arm holding it in place, as if the pain would go away if he kept it in perfect position.
Hearing that Arlo could heal with hexes was impressive but he couldn't ask Arlo to help him, could he? He blushed when Arlo made the comment about wanting him to be alright. He had then asked Arlo if he was okay, feeling relief over his honest answer, glad it wasn't anything more serious and how Arlo could use a hex to heal himself. Once the subject had been changed to them hanging out longer, he felt bad when giving Arlo the honest answer about work but was glad that Arlo seemed thrilled to exchange phone numbers with him. He took Arlo's phone and entered his cell phone number in it, before holding it hostage. "How about after you type yours in mine as well..." He suggested, handing Arlo his cell phone. His way of demanding the phone number just in case Arlo forgot to text him. Assuming that he got Arlo to put his number in his cell phone, he would exchange cell phones so that Arlo would have his back and he would have his in return, happiness that Arlo had agreed to a rain check. I wish I could spend time with him right now. He blushed at the thought, surprised that TRS hadn't found them yet. "Of course if TRS doesn't find me soon, I would be so happy if you stayed with me longer."
There was victory found in Nicholas relenting the true nature of his injuries to Arlo. A sense of serenity transcended over the hellhound when his crush admitted to being wounded and ceased the deception of toughness in favor for informing him of the truth. Naturally, the criminal remained concerned over the injuries that the white-haired man possessed, but kept reminding himself of his own skill in hexes. The injuries were confirmed when Nicholas reached to scratch the back of his neck, the peculiar senses sparking a phantom pain in the same arm for Arlo. There was still attempt towards trying to appear tough, but the short man was finding it easy to notice that his crush was in pain from the nasty brute. How could that dastardly monster even have the nerve to injure this man who marked the definition of handsome?!
The blush that coloured Nicholas' face assisted in making the hellhound's cheerful disposition return. There was an adorable factor to witnessing the man's cheeks turn shades of pink and red that made Arlo's heart flutter happily. Each time the stranger's face would get flushed with the colours, the more determination the criminal gained to stealing the man's heart.
"Now was it that hard to admit to the pain?" Arlo responded with hints of cheerfulness in his voice. "Good, Nic! Because now nurse Arlo can get you all fixed up!"
A giggle proceeded the words as the hellhound's hand plunged into the pockets of his suit coat and produced a metal flask. Inside was the vital red liquid required for human life and for performing the hex, blood. The flask itself was a specially charmed item, the purpose being for it to remained disappeared, similar to his clothing, when Arlo transformed and to return when the small man returned to human form. The red eyes of the criminal searched the area, finding the snow laden ground to be a problem considering the nature of liquid and snow. A few steps were taken away from Nicholas as the hellhound summoned fire beneath him and began working towards making a dry patch amidst the winter atmosphere. While his crush was typing his number into his phone, Arlo set to work drawing the circular parameters and complex inner design meant for mending, clearing infection and various other implications meant for healing purposes.
When the circle was completed, the criminal was hasty to rush back towards his crush with a large grin on his face. Immediately, he noticed Nicholas had completed entering his number and reached for the phone with desires to start memorizing the connection code. That was when he discovered the white-haired man possessed other plans as his phone got held hostage and a demand was made to reciprocate the act of number exchanging. The action caused the hellhound to giggle as he quickly snatched his crush's phone and began gliding his thumbs over the keyboard to type in his own cellphone number. Afterwards, the phones were exchanged and Arlo possessed his own with the newly imprinted number that the hellhound's red eyes gazed over multiple times in an attempt for quick memorization. This was the gateway to days of digital conversation, date set up and generally working towards making the stranger his.
At the mentioning of being allowed to accompany Nicholas until the other TRS agents showed up was responded to with several excited nods of agreement. A few more minutes with his latest love interest would be heavenly and Arlo was excited for each second of it.
"YES! OF COURSE!" The hellhound exclaimed excitedly before gently grabbing Nicholas' arm to tug him towards the hex circle. "Buuuut, I have one demand. You have to come and get healed! That way you can be safe while you go hunting and be able to text me later!"
As Arlo worked towards trying to lead Nicholas towards the circle of blood, a wide grin remained on the hellhound's face while he quietly giggled. The chances of capturing the man's heart seemed to be increasing, which was delightful for the criminal who sought to steal it.
Nicholas was having a hard time keeping his embarrassment under control when Arlo spoke again, he just seemed so cheerful and adorable. His face flushed redder when Arlo called himself nurse Arlo. That nickname seemed to fit him so perfectly and he wouldn't have it any other way, feeling somewhat possessive of wanting his crush to be around him longer over having somebody else patch him up in the near future. He nodded his head in agreement, finding it difficult to come up with a comment to try and get Arlo to blush in return, of what he would give to see Arlo's face just as flushed as his own. Nicholas watched as Arlo pulled out a flask, curious on what was in it. Arlo had moved away from him, creating fire beneath him and started working on making a dry patch on the ground. He was too busy typing his number in the phone else he would have helped. He had glanced over to see that Arlo was creating a circular parameter for the purpose of healing.
Once he had finished typing his number in the phone he refused to give it back, handing his own phone to Arlo to put his number in it first. Arlo was quick in taking his phone, adding his phone number in it. His giggle was just so adorable and he found himself blushing again. Afterwards they had switched phones and he smiled at the number that was labeled as Arlo's. Now he'd be able to text Arlo if he had changed his mind for texting first. It made him feel like he had won because Arlo had agreed to give his number in return, even if it had been with some encouragement. He made the comment of spending more time with Arlo since TRS hadn't come yet. Glad that Arlo had chosen to stay with him even though he likely had much more important things to take care of. Arlo was just so adorable, making him wish that he was off duty so that he could spend all his free time with him. Arlo had reached out to tug on his arm, leading him towards the hex.
He blushed a deeper red when Arlo gave his demand in return. "Of course." He agreed, the last thing he wanted was to be disabled and unable to text Arlo in return. If he had his way, he wouldn't part from Arlo but fate had a horrible sense of humor. Nicholas had moved towards the circle of blood, grateful for Arlo's assistance, currently trying to think of an excuse to see Arlo sooner.
