Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
The Angelic District, formerly known as the Heaven District to those like Aines that have been around for awhile. The air was a wonderful scent of home as was the scenery, the reason why he was here in this particular district wasn't a specific one, he just needed some supplies for his next nomadic trek. Perhaps to the larger city or the wilderness...
As the nigh nine foot tall dragon strode on with a few white doves resting on his head, he stopped in his tracks as he saw someone coming from what he presumed to be a market or store in the distance. Looking down at the girl, he smiled. She couldn't have been any older than an emerging teen, he thought. He had no idea why anyone would let such a person, let alone a heaven-born, shop alone.
Serenine was not bothered by the weight of what she carried, but rather, the bulk. Since a bout of cold and flu had broken out among the orphans, she needed soups and broths, and crackers and oats. Not to mention herbs for tea, and honey to sweeten the lot.
When she heard an offer to help, she smiled up at the stranger. And Up. And Up.
"My, you are a big fellow aren't you?"
From under her long skirt, several tails poked out as they waved. Ten in total, if one bothered to count them. Such a large number of tails indicated a Guardian of the Arch Class. Although most confused her for one of the Kitsune, after not bothering to count the tails, or miscounting them.
"I wouldnt say no to a bit of help. The sooner I return, the sooner the children can be fed, and medicine doled out."
Chuckling, Aines nodded sheepishly before freezing, carefully counting the number of tails that popped up to say hello. He stopped at nine; he missed one but he already knew what that meant, kitsune folk to him always acted the same way. This was no kitsune. Getting down on both knees to decrease his height a bit in both consideration and respect, his smile returned in full force.
"Haha, the size comes from a younger world. I didn't expect someone so... young looking to be what you are. Ah anyway, allow me." Holding out his open hand, he waited until something was deposited in them, hopefully the burden she was carrying. "How many kids you have?" He asked, raising a brow.
Serenine shifted her load, until half had been handed to the stranger.
"Looks can be deceiving. There are currently fifteen children at the Home. My previous contractor was a kind person, who wanted their lands used to serve the unfortunate. I care take the land, and watch over the homeless, orphaned, and run away children who find their way to me."
Despite the fact she was carrying well over 100lbs of canned goods, she moved as easily as if she carried nothing but a few loaves of bread. Her smile never faltered, as she described each of the fifteen children, who ranged in age, species, and ethnicity. From tiny 10 year old Lee, a Human with no gifts, born into a high class gifted family that treated him poorly, to nearly 200 year old, but permanently stunted as a child from Vampirism, Nathaniel, who was changed by his mother, so she would always have a 'baby'. Although all of their tales were sad, each had obviously found a loving and peaceful home to call their own.
As half of the stuff she was carrying was placed in his hand, he carefully took them and held them close to his person as not to damage or lose them. Sure, he was large, but he wasn't reckless. Listening to the number of kids at her safe home and her mission only made his smile bigger.
"Now that's something I can get behind! What a good way to use the land." Aines being his usual self, he sat down and listened intensely to each and every child she described, occasionally interrupting to repeat what she said to ensure he got it down. Eventually he knew every one of their unfortunate, yet inspiring tales.
"Reminds me of the past. Things like that happened far more than now. Say. Let me help you administer the medicine after we take these things back to this home. I'm not letting you do all this work by yourself while I'm in town."
"Any and all help is appreciated. And yes it is wonderful to see fewer children in the home than in years past. If a bit lonelier. I remember that terrible time, not even three hundred years ago, that sickness which crossed the continent of Europe. So many children were brought to me. Fifteen is the largest number i have had in the last 20 years or so."
She began to walk towards home again, carefully choosing her path, to avoid the less desirable areas. It may have been the 'angelic district' but there were still places best not traveled. Not that she feared for her safety. In Terms of raw power, even in her current state, she could mostly handle a fully shifted dragon on her own. Enough to protect others, if not herself. If she didnt have to worry about others, well even a Fallen Angel from the First Falling, would find themselves struggling if she didnt have anything to hold her back.
"Hmm." Aines remained silent as he began to follow her closely back to her home. He would rather not remember the specifics of that time, but the memories are always fresh on his mind. "Yeah... terrible times... haha. It's my mission to see those times never happen again, but looks like I have a side mission now too. I go by Aines nowadays, you?"
He didn't quite care where they were going at the moment, he had some faith in his new companion and in his own strength. If anything did happen or an undesirable did show up, he should be fine protecting her; that would be the first priority.
"My last Contractor called me Serenine, i find it preferable to the name i was given originally. It does not have the...bad memories attached to it. Most call me Sara, or Serenity, depending on their preference. You may call me any of these. Aines. hmm, i once knew an Arch Angel by that name, he died in the War of Traitors. But he was much smaller than you are. We used to tease him, although never to the point of cruelty. If i recall, he was protecting one of the lesser Heaven Gates when he fell."
She did not show signs of sadness at this Angel's death, indeed she did not mourn him. He had been a very goal focused angel, who had viewed death in battle as the most desirable of deaths.
"Tell me, have you eve-"
Her eyes narrowed and she looked to her left, where two humans in dark clothing stood to the side. They looked normal enough, but to any with enhanced senses, the truth of them was clear. They had no scent. They smelled of of the materials their clothing was made from, but they had no individual scents. Indeed, they both smelled identical.
"Disguiser Terrors, young ones. They havent learned to mimic human scents. Normally, i would leave such beasts to the TRS. But they are too close to my home. To My Children. If i need your help, i will ask, but i feel i could use some exercise."
She set the bag she was carrying down and turned to the disguised terrors. White fire flared up around her, and she aged, physically, by ten years. The first of the Terrors moved towards, lightning quick, only to be torn in half, and destroyed by a snap of jaws as she swiftly shifted into the form of a pick up truck sized fox with 6 tails, and 4 wings.
Her eyes roamed, seeking the second Terror, which hidden itself in the shadows.
"Good to meet you Guardian Serenine," Aines said happily before once again pausing at her angelic statement. "Hmm. Now that you mention it, it was a bit confusing everyone running around saying I died. Guess it was that archangel fellow. Gate's will."
He then followed her gaze, instantly frowning at what he saw. People hiding in the dark was absolutely pointless near him... especially with the most obvious, recognizable smells. These weren't people, they were Terrors. Much to his happiness, Serenine was two steps ahead of him.
"Don't gotta ask, one each yeah?" Aines cracked his knuckles while setting down the items he used to be carrying until the little girl he was talking to became a grown woman. "Eugh... this is gonna make my head hurt," he said to himself, the disguisers and shifters and transformer guardian magic getting to his head. His shock left him completely as she destroyed the first of the two Terrors that began their assault at impressive speed. Now wasn't the time for shock or surprise at the heavenly fox, now was the time for action.
With zero knackness for restraint, Aines roared, shifting his arms, back, parts of his face, and manifesting draconic wings whilst his blue markings began to glow and grow along with his size. His large, dark wings created shadows beneath them that twitched and rose like sparks of heated blue fire in a camp. Aines turned his head with a cruel smile, staring right at the juvenile Terror. He knew from his time as a General in the TRS that they had the ability to manipulate the dark, just like him, something he took as an insult to the dragons of heaven. Youth or not, Terrors are Terrors; they will be killed.
The forgotten dragon jumped, his wings keeping him in the air for a second before he launched himself to where the Terror last was, straight into the shadows, hands outstretched with a big smile. The moment he entered the darkness, it was over. To anyone with keen senses, they would be able to see him tear the Terror apart quickly, the darkness attacking from all directions. When he was finished, Aines simply walked out of the dark as if nothing ever happened.
Using his pinpoint mastery over darkness, he enhanced his wings, jumping in the air and landing with a glide back in front of Serenine. Staring at her wings, he counted again, taking a step back when he finished.
Pointing back to the shadowy area, his face was stone cold. "There's more around over there. I don't feel any TRS around either. That roudy lot is getting lazy I swear I shouldn't have left... agh, what do you want to do?" Of course regardless of her answer, he was heading back in, to kill the rest and ensure the kid's safety. As he spoke, Aines folded his wings in and dropped to a knee as to not make himself any bigger than the Arch Guardian before him. Like Seers and certain other winged ones, he had a lot of respect for them, even if he was bigger.
"Why, the plan is quite simple, dear Dragon. We destroy them. The children are at risk, and i will not tolerate threats to their safety. I seem to recall the TRS being short staffed, and focusing their patrols on high activity areas. Seems they have allowed a few pockets to grow unchecked as a result."
She returned to her humanoid form and glanced at the dragon. "Before i vowed to be a new person, i was once one of the most powerful. Please, do not defer to me so much. I am not who i once was. My power is the same, but i will never again allow my pride to bring me low."
She stepped forward, her form slowly reducing in age, as her power healed the affects of aging. It was an inconvenient thing, to always appear as a child, until she used her power. But it had uses as well.
"Now that's what I like to hear!" A simple, effective plan with a simple goal that could be accomplished without the need of endangering other lives. "Is that so? No wonder I haven't seen much of them around, who the hell's in charge over there." Aines scoffed before he shifted back into his neutral state as well, only leaving his eyes and mouth in their draconic state.
While listening to her tale, he crossed his arms. "I don't think there's a dragon of the dark more stronger than I. In the old days I was so prideful I was looked up to as a Greek god, hah... my point is, pride can be a good thing. It's let me protect the people I want to protect. And if your power never wavered since then, you're still one of the most powerful, Guardian, and I will give you your due respect!"
Looking back at the shade, he chuckled and smiled widely. "Ready to go? We have Terrors to destroy."
Serenine glanced at him. His Pride had helped him, hmm.
"My Pride, allowed the enemy to harm those i cared about. I was too sure of myself. Cocky as the humans say. I did not think i could be bested, and the enemy used that to get by me. I believed my power alone was enough. I failed to make plans. I simply fought. These days. I fight head on. but i have...back up plans. Should any Terror get by us, they will be destroyed by the barriers i had a friend place. Never again, will my pride be my downfall."
She smashed a terror's body against a wall, disintegrating it instantly, and cracking the granite structure. She moved swiftly, seeking the 'nest' of these beasts. Any Terror which came towards her, was destroyed without hesitation. Without Mercy.
It was good the creatures fell away into nothing when killed. Otherwise she would have been splattered with blood and gore. Much as she had been, during the ending days of the War.
"Hmm." Aines understood where she was coming from, but only just a little. Throughout his life, he had help, another person to balance out his rash actions and carelessness. Now, in his old age, was the only true time he was alone. "I had someone check my pride. I was the strongest around, and she was the smartest. Haha, nothing could touch us! But... yeah. If I was you back then, by myself, I'm sure my cockiness would've gotten everyone killed."
Not even flinching when a Terror's parts flew past his face, he again smiled as he trailed behind her. He wasn't as fast, but the darkness sped him up enough, impaling young Terrors that were hiding in the dark before they could get close to Serenine.
"Being alone isn't healthy. Find more than a friend and be prideful!" Aines roared.
