There were many people who wouldn't believe it if they heard Mikaela Lye was volunteering at a child centered event. Perhaps it was true Mikaela Lye wouldn't, but as Isabella Romano she volunteered on Thursdays at her young cousin's daycare center. Although Mikaela tried to avoid her family for the most part, 5 year old Rosy was an exception. Her mother was the sort that should never be exposed to kids and Mikaela took pity on the red haired child. Plus, being associated with a child at the daycare made it easier to volunteer.
[break][break]
Although she definitely hadn't been raised to take care of kids, she had spent a lot of time with them as she was growing up. Back then her instructions had been far less wholesome, but it gave her the experience all the same.
[break][break]
As she was finishing up instructing a few children on a basic origami craft her red headed cousin ran up to her, a little boy following shortly behind. "Aunt Izzy! We're hungry!" she said, tugging at Mikaela's sleeve."Can you make a snack?"
[break][break]
Mikaela hesitated. "Oh, I'm not sure that's such a good idea." Her mind raced with other potential solutions to the hungry situation. It was still a while until the official snack time so she couldn't promise that to solve the problem. Frustration rolled through her. It was early enough that it shouldn't have been a problem at all.
[break][break]
"Please?" her cousin asked, cuddling closer to Mikaela.
[break][break]
Her heightened senses picked up on her cousin's stomach growling. "Did you not eat breakfast?" Mikaela frowned. Puppy dog eyes paired with a lack of verbal response told her that her guess was spot on. She released an irritated sigh. "Alright, how about this. We can see if there's anything you can have in the kitchen." Her gaze flickered to the other kid, judging for some sort of reaction to suggest that the kid knew it was dangerous to run off with a stranger. There was none. Perhaps that was something she would mention to the kid later.
[break][break]
Without another word she straightened up the mess at her table and began walking towards the kitchen. She generally knew her way around, but she wasn't sure she should be in the kitchen. Anyone letting her mess with anything food related was an idiot. But hesitating on account of things that weren't rules to begin with wasn't her style.
