Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Several things were going on in London, for a while now the TRS had been keeping tabs out on two former members from the AP that had allegedly left the organization and were now living together. These two people were Jessica and Lawrence Blane, two high-ranking members of the Assembly of Phantoms. Defectors from the AP weren't something uncommon, but high-ranking members who have served the organization for such a long time were a rare sight to see. For the most part, the TRS was just keeping tabs on them to make sure their retirement was true. However, a change of plans occurred when Lawrence Blane was nowhere to be found. This forced the TRS to take action, it was possible that Lawrence had been kidnapped by the AP, or suddenly decided to rejoin the organization. Whatever was going on, they had to figure out what had happened. At this point, only Jessica remained, attempting to establish contact with her was an option, although it had to be done carefully. The TRS decided had decided to dispatch Elite Hunter Charles Ohm to keep an eye out and take out any AP that may possibly be involved. Any information from Jessica could be useful as her former position as a high-rank could help the TRS obtain some new information about their operations or possible bases in London.
Charles was deployed to a mission that was different from what he was normally accustomed to, but he had already obtained some experience in intelligence-gathering missions. The Scout Division already had their hands on other things, so they decided to have an Elite Hunter handle it for now. In London, he was a renowned Elite Hunter by the name "the Fool." His appearance was different, long black hair with a ponytail tied to his back followed by a more lively facial expression.
It was 9:21 PM, it was already night time and the place was dark with only the lights of streets illuminating the place. It was best for him to do this during nighttime to move around without problems. This was also where the AP would attempt to strike if they were interested in targeting Jessica. It was much easier to kidnap or assassinate someone at night. Charles was walking around with a long-sleeved white shirt and a black overcoat. The Elite Hunter adjusted his white gloves as he walked around the place, he found himself close to the entrance of her house. His plan was to first keep an eye out on her for the first few days to see what was really going on. Before attempting to establish contact with her. Charles stood at the house next to hers and waited outside, just keeping an eye out. A long night was ahead of him...
[attr="class","Jesstextbox2"][attr="class","Jessgentext2"] It had been long enough since Lawrence went missing that Jessica knew something was wrong. If she was being honest with herself she’d known something was wrong since he went missing. They always told eachother when they were going somewhere, and he hadn’t responded to his phone on the several occasions she tried to call. Plus, after millinea of serving as a soldier for one army or another she’d developed a knack for knowing when something was off. She just hadn’t wanted to believe it was true. She and Lawrence had both known that creating a life in London was dangerous with the threat of both AP and TRS who knew their faces nearby, but it had been the only place he’d really known and they had decided it was where they wanted to raise their children.
Things had been so perfect for a long while. She had a nice, regular life she’d never dreamed of having. And she had a family. Even thousands of years ago, with her parents and all her siblings surrounding her, she’d never been able to say that. She had been so blind then, considering her siblings to be nothing more than compitition that would jump at the first chance to throw her under the bus. She hadnt understood that there was real good in people, and she hadn’t believed anyone would ever want to extend that goodness to her.
Lawrence had been the one to open her eyes to the softer sides of the world. With him, life didn’t have to be a constant war. She could accept the peace so many soldiers in the past had claimed to be fighting for. Maybe she was just a fool to have believed it could be true. She had been in enough wars to know that after one ended it was only a matter of time before another began. There was always some rivalling force that wanted to take away whatever semblance of victory had been scraped together, no matter how many lives had been lost to earn it.
The problem was, she didn’t know which rival forces were at fault. She had so many enemies, and by settling down with Lawrence and letting her guard down she had not only made those enemies his, but she’d left him open to their looming threat. It had been a stupid thing to do. She should have just kept her heart hidden and stayed where she knew she had a place, because what was she left with now? Five children who had been his dream, not hers, and a loosened grip on what was real.
Years ago she would have just moved on to the next fight regardless of loose threads, but she couldn’t bring herself to do that now. She needed answers. She wanted her Lawrence back, and even if she couldn’t escape an almost certain feeling that he was already dead she would find the truth and someone would pay. A monster that had been leashed inside her for so long was coming unteathered and a small part of her was scared of what she would do.
Now, as she’d been years before, she was on her own with nothing but the beast roaring within to keep her company. Her children were away at her eldest son’s house where they would hopefully be safe until she knew what came next. She didn’t know what that was yet. She hadn’t been able to think that far ahead. Rather, she was left ungrounded, unable to so much as estimate what the rest of her life would look like once the dust settled.
As it was, Jess’ skills were rusty. If she’d been paying more attention before he was taken it would have been easier to piece together what had happened. She hadn’t had any of the safety measures she’d depended on in her past life to know who had entered through which doors, and her house had been easy to navigate without the assailants leaving any trace of their presence. Assuming they’d come into the house at all. She was left with no idea where to start save for hunting down her enemies one by one. And the first of those enemies had positioned themselves right in front of her door.
She had known her house was being watched for a while, and as time ticked on her patience wore thin. A long ponytailed man she recognised from the TRS had taken position outside, putting himself right in her path for vengeance. She’d always found the best luck letting others make the first move, especially when they thought she wasn’t aware they were readying to attack, but if he was going to spend all night staking her out she wasn’t going to keep waiting.
She dug out a couple of weapons she hadn’t touched in decades and sheathed them on her person, then pulled her hair up and out of her face before stepping out of the house into the muggy night air. She was dangerous enough without weapons, but she’d learned long ago not to pass up any bit of offensive power in case she had somehow underestimated her enemy. Icy eyes fell on her target and she stalked towards him, every bit the feline predator even in her human form. ”TRS bastard,” she growled, ”You’ve got some answering to do so you better get talking.” It didn’t particularly matter to her that he may have no clue what she was referring to, nor did she care that he could be a complete innocent in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was there and the one person that had stopped her from lashing out at the TRS or AP agents keeping an eye on her before was now completely out of the picture. Any trace of her previously complacent nature had been wiped away in one fell swoop and she wasn’t about to show mercy. To anyone.
The night was relatively peaceful, and Charles partially hoped for it to be that way. He had several questions in regards to what exactly happened, but it was better for him to wait for a chance and just watch from afar. As far he knew, the couple of the former members of the AP decided to settle down and make a family. The man known as Lawrence wouldn't simply go missing with a desire to leave his family, it was very unlikely it was for that reason. The Elite Hunter attempted to remain undetected, simply posing as a random civilian without attempting to be suspicious. However, Charles himself had underestimated how recognizable he could be at times due to his own renown as a TRS Elite Hunter. Little did he knew that Jessica was already aware of his presence. Despite having stepped down as an AP member for a while now. She still retained her knowledge, skills, and experience from her time in the AP. Her husband had gone missing for a while, anyone would be smart enough to realize that something was wrong.
Charles kept his eye out on the entire house, his main focus was the surrounding places rather than the house itself. That confidence of his that he wouldn't end up getting spotted by anyone, especially Jessica was his own demise. The sound of a door opening was heard. He turned to look where the sound originated from only to be met by a green-haired woman that landed a cold glare on him. "Damnit..." The Elite Hunter muttered below his breath, as he was met by the person that he had to watch over. He wasn't expecting to encounter this early on, but after her husband's disappearance, it was only expected for her to become a lot warier of her surroundings. It was clear that she believed that he had something to do with his disappearance and her facial expression was more akin to a seasoned murderer that had been doing this for a while. Charles thought to himself that it was better to try and be calm about it. Being was aware that she could lash at him at any moment if he wasn't careful. "I just happened to be here. I was keeping an eye in case something happened. Please, calm down, I don't mean any sort of harm to you and your family. Let's try and be civilized about this, alright?" He replied to her harsh comment politely, attempting to come off as friendly. It's a good thing that he brought up his weapons with him.
A Glock 17, commonly used among the British military and law enforcement agencies around the world. And a Thompson Contender that has been modified to chamber .30-6 Springfield which was used against armored targets or stronger beings that had much more durability than a human. The size of the small size of the weapons allowed for easy concealment under his overcoat. He didn't want to use them if it could be helped. Charles was dealing with a husband that had lost her husband, the rage and mental instability was only to be expected. He didn't have high hopes that she could be reasoned with.
[attr="class","Jesstextbox2"][attr="class","Jessgentext2"]Jessica had never liked being told to calm down. Especially by someone who had already done so much harm. She scoffed at Charles words. "Damn right you won't hurt my family," she growled, electricity sparking around her hands. There was absolutely no way she'd let this man anywhere near her remaining family, whether he was guilty or not. No one was going to hurt the people she cared about. Not again. She'd had enough of that.
"I was forged in the same bloody war that started the TRS, I know the corruption in your organization from the very root, so don't try the whole martyr act. You're all the same, acting like your supposed righteous cause justifies the means." she bristled. Her parents had been avid supporters of Akari and the then forming TRS. It had been an eternity since she'd so much as heard from them, but she had no doubt that it was still their cause, and their cause could never be a good thing. They raised children into monsters without batting an eye. They had taken away her childhood, and she had no doubt the TRS would be willing to take away her husband too. "This time you've gone too far. How dare you show your face in my neighborhood after the one person that was stopping me from ripping you all to shreds was taken away."
Jess's eyes stung, but she ignored the tears building up. They wouldn't fall. She'd expelled of that sort of weakness years ago. Rather, she left her nails sharpen into claws, readying for whatever conflict was about to come. War had already been declared, so there was nothing stopping her from making the first move in this current conflict. It couldn't make things any worse.
All attempts to tell her to calm down were futile. Charles would've preferred a much peaceful approach and avoid a fight, but it was expected for a woman who had lost her husband recently to be mentally unstable. She clearly wasn't going to listen to anybody, much less someone from the TRS. The TRS Hunter noticed the sparks of electricity coming from her hands. She was an electricity manipulator, just like him. So the intel from her was correct, she was capable of such. He didn't know much about her husband's death, but now he was just another target in her path of revenge. Whether he was innocent or not stopped being relevant to her the moment she spotted him.
"Spoken like a person who has been brainwashed from an early age. If it wasn't for the AP, the TRS wouldn't exist." He replied, it was clear that she had been brainwashed by the AP as a child soldier. Two opposing ways of thinking were bound to clash sooner or later. The AP were the ones responsible for killing his parents, it changed his entire life and that was the reason why he had joined the TRS. If it wasn't for that, maybe his life would've been different, but that didn't matter now. "Reasoning wouldn't work with you..." This was clearly a tragedy, he could tell she was crushed on the inside and her sense of reason was just as crushed as her heart by the death of his husband. He never felt such a tragic loss, except his parts, but he was very young so he doesn't remember them that much. The two were probably together for decades. Charles could only imagine the pain she felt, but even then he couldn't let himself get killed.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Charles said, as several sparks of electricity came out from his body. Electricity surrounded the Hunter. It was unknown to him that Jessica was immune to electricity. He was human, gifted, but human, that was probably his biggest weakness. As always, he was going to use Electricity Manipulation, Time Manipulation was too risky and was normally left as the last resort. Although it was also his greatest asset, it acted as a double-edged sword as it also strained his body. He waited for Jessica's move, he kept an eye out for her claws and other projectiles. As soon as the chance presented itself he was planning to counter-attack.
[attr="class","Jesstextbox2"][attr="class","Jessgentext2"] Jessica Blane was many monstrous things but, surprisingly, a genuine supporter of the AP wasn’t one of them. She had been fighting in wars for over a thousand years before she even had her first thought of joining the Assembly, and in all that time she had never really cared what either side was after. She was the sort of demon born and raised on the battlefield, and when she was finally able to make her own path she had never been able to break from the confines of war itself. She had never had the slightest idea of what life without a battlefield was like. At least, not until Lawrence had convinced her to leave it all behind.
And now, here was some TRS agent with the nerve to act like she was too blind to see why his side was better. It was the TRS, or at least the group that had founded them, that had turned her into the monster she was. The temper she had been trying to keep on something of a leash snapped and she lashed out, shoving the agent backwards towards the wall behind him, careful not to give him enough room to escape. Sparks glowed across her arm, though she had enough control to keep them from frying her adversary alive. She needed information and she couldn’t get that out of a dead man. “Don't you dare assume you know the first thing about me,” she growled. “You’re not here to learn about who I am, and I don’t have any interest in bringing you up to speed, so shut your mouth unless you’re going to tell me what happened to Lawrence.”
It was a more exaggerated tough act than she usually went with, but the pitying look in his eyes made her sick and she wanted to cut to the chase. She didn’t need people questioning her life choices or trying to sway her opinion. All she needed was answers, and she would get them no matter what means of persuasion were required.
