Children, at times, could prove themselves intelligent in maintaining personal secrecy. It was a notion learned hastily when Loik discovered his son possessed a relationship with another boy. The time was arriving for his child to begin growing interested in notions of romance, however, the boogeyman wished he learned earlier about the relationship. Parents were expected to provide guidance to their children and regulate the happenings of a relationship. The arrival of puberty made the youth hormonal, their underdeveloped minds causing for reckless and regretted decisions.

Quickly, Loik had created the arrangements required to meet the young man his son was dating. Fortunately, the face of the boyfriend was nobody Loik was entirely unfamiliarized with the individual his son grew attached to. A soft sense of relief had washed over the boogeyman when hearing the name of the chosen individual. The child known as Luka Hyland was a long-time friend of Loik's young son, Zion. It allowed the over-protective father to ease, his nerves settling down after discovering the boyfriend's name.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, the nerves played cords inside of him because of the hidden nature of the relationship. As a parent, he preferred when complete transparency between father and child was provided. Otherwise, Loik discovered himself feeling delayed on the upkeep for the situation. A soft sigh escaped the single father's lips as the soft click of the kettle reached his ears. The kitchen chair skidded against the wooden floor as the black-haired man stood, fine-tuned ears listening to the song of bubbling water. Beside the kettle was a white mug with a small teabag placed in the bottom.
[break][break]
Steam rose from the wide kettle spout as hot water was poured over the bag. The piney scent of earl grey wafted into Loik's nose, calming his rampant nerves. Despite never requiring substance to survive, Loik appreciated the calming sensation of tea in instances similar to these. He knew Luka, but after having lost Minerva those many years ago, the hidden relationship drove his concerns up. He needed to protect Zion, not only because the child was his son, but also because of the promise he gave to his dying mother.
[break][break]
A spoon dipped into the darkened waters of the tea. Slowly, Loik moved towards the trashcan, fishing out the used teabag and flinging into the garbage. A deep breath was inhaled as the boogeyman turned back towards the kitchen table. His shuffling steps carried him closer as fingers brought the mug up for a dainty sip of the bitter drink. Years passed since his nobility, yet, the delicate manner his fingers clung to the mug was from centuries of refinement. The smallest details and dialects always reminded him of the haunting chase taking place millenniums.
[break][break]
If only the sins of his past had no chances of resurging. In silence, he shifted back into his seat, the mug of tea placed onto the table. Gradually, Loik leaned back, straightening his posture out of sheer instinct. Nobles needed to appear refined. Ancient drilled lessons were pushed away for a moment, the relic of a nobleman waiting for his guest to arrive.
