Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Wolma yawned. It was the middle of the afternoon, and somehow, someway, she had absolutely no idea where she was. She did however know that she was currently hanging upside down from the branch of a thick tree, the flora that made up her petite body making good use of the situation to camouflage them within the leaves. Her arms dangled down as all three of her gleaming yellow eyes stared down, wondering if someone would come wandering through. She highly doubted she would be allowed to just drop down, as a particular sassy piece of nature is savvy on self preservation.
She as usual didn't wear much, much to the plant's satisfaction, merely a tattered blue tee. The sentient plant covered the rest of her body decently enough. Being far more sensitive to nature than others, she was alerted of a presence. She let out a curious growl, that really sounded like gurgling, from her damaged throat, hoping to gain their attention.

[attr="class","grBody"]Stirring within Jagger's heart was the endless sense of adventurous spirit. In the early hours of the weekend, the rowdy child woke, dressed and gobbled down a breakfast prepared by his father. Haphazardly, clothing had been thrown about the room as he prepared himself his Saturday plans. Hastily, the child left the room, dressed in a simple white shirt and pair of naturally ripped jeans; something considered a throwaway. A happy laugh escaped Jagger's lips as he hauled his backpack over his shoulder. At the insistence of his father, the young boy took a water bottle alongside a small snack.
[break][break]
A seemingly neverending sense of joy invaded Jagger as he hopped off the deck. The countryside of Lorsette summoned intense happiness for the young and originally sheltered young man. During the warmer months, the blond fancied the notion of exploring the world around him. The first moments of his freedom were greeted with the deepest breaths and widest smiles. The restraints upon Jagger's life were lifted the instant his father rescued him from his mother's overprotective grasp. There were no more "medicines" or laying dazed on the couch for hours alone.
[break][break]
He jumped forth, ears listening to the buzz of the world around him. Above him, the birds swooped and chirped in the mid-spring breeze. For years the avian wildlife existed, yet, Jagger's eyes observed them with glints of amazement. Everything small he missed out on from his mother's decisions and control became long admired aspects of life. Through the old dirt paths into the forest, the angel strode. The skip in his step was evident as his eyes wildly gazed about, brimming with life and happiness as he admired the breeze shuffling through branches and movement of animals beneath the brush.
[break][break]
Longer strands of grass tickled at his legs as he proceeded further. Every gaze revealed new parts of the forest, yet, his wandering eyes witnessed the parting trees on the brim of a large meadow. The grin upon his countenance widened as his eyes shone bright, sparkling in the sunlight. The young boy's steps hastened abruptly, curiosity filling him as he travelled beneath shaded branches. As he closed in on the border, the young boy's eyes drifted about before catching a glimpse of something. A soft 'huh' escaped his lips as the young boy narrowly passed.
[break][break]
The boy turned, feet proceeding to move as he took backwards steps. His blue hues stared up, noticing an abnormality among the swaying branches, yet, before a word could be uttered, his heel abruptly hit a fallen branch. A startled 'woah' escaped Jagger's parted lips as he fell back, hands running into the dirt. Only moments later would Jagger shake his head, refusing to fixate on the soft stinging of his scraped palms. Carefully, his eyes searched the trees above, noticing a shape among the branches above.
[break][break]
"Woah!" Surprise flickered in Jagger's eyes as he pushed himself off the ground. "Who are ya? And damn, you look hella sick! Like woah, cool!"
[break][break]
The angel called from the ground, feet shuffling about in an attempt to gain a better gaze at the mysterious creature of the trees. Perhaps it was a dangerous game, however, the carefree child thought nothing of the potential risks.
Wolma continued to stare down from her position, stuck in a tree, at the boy that so happened to come by and... fall upon truly seeing her? An expected response, but Wolma with her extra senses immediately sensed that the minor fall wasn't exactly 100% harmless. Using her core muscles, she lifted herself up and undid the wraps of leaves, flora and bark around her human leg, dropping to the ground. The fall, unlike his, didn't hurt her in any way; she landed extremely softly. They were currently in her favorite place to be, a wooded area in a warm season.
She kept her distance as he got himself up, offering a small smile. Communication would be rather difficult, this she know almost immediately, but thankfully she could understand what he was saying... "Wolma..." she muttered out in response to him asking who she was, hoping it was enough to get across her foreign name. She stayed close to the dirt ground like a canine of feline predator would, but her features were clearly visible. Staring at his scraped palms, she offered her unnatural hand out, hoping he'd take it. "He..al?" Wolma growled out through strange noises, wanting to help.

[attr="class","grBody"]Brilliant colour sparkled in Jagger's eyes as his curiosity sparked to the highest degree. The stranger moving about the branches above possessed traits the blond never thought possible. It fascinated the curious child, maintaining his attention without hesitation. Astonishment remained on the teen's expression the longer he observed the woman of the trees. He watched the stranger move, clearly transfixed by their unique body and features. The creature above Jagger was something he never observed, and he reveled in the opportunity.
[break][break]
Quietly, Jagger watched as she dropped from the treetops, returning to the ground below. The blond's smile opened as he gradually lifted himself from the ground. His wounded hands were wiped against his jeans, leaving remnants of blood and dirt. The scrapes burned from the action, however, Jagger proceeded nonetheless. When the stranger smiled, the blue-eyed child returned the favour with a brighter smile. The stranger spoke, a name being provided in the single word. A sense of excitement showed itself in a subtle hop in his standing.
[break][break]
"Is that yer name?" He asked, cheer brimming in his voice. "Well, I like it! Anyways, Wolma, mine is Jagger."
[break][break]
The teen was hasty to return the favour, his friendliness motivating him. Curiously, he observed the young girl, watching her stance where she remained close to the dirt. Slowly, the blond kneeled to reach a somewhat similar height to Wolma's position. A peculiar hand reached towards him, prompting subtle confusion into Jagger's eyes. However, the single, broken word reached his ears, and after a year of learning Mitch's language queues, the blond had an idea on the hint.
[break][break]
"You can heal me? Am I getting that right?!" He began before his countenance brightened. "Wow! I wish I could, I ain't good at the whole healing thing... and it makes me tired, so it's really stupid."
[break][break]
The angel provided one of his hands, his eyes shining bright. His eyes watched the wounds, his interesting piquing with the realization of Wolma's words. The ability to heal was an ability Jagger struggled to gain a firm hold of, thus, it left the angel curious.
Wolma nodded yes to the welcome stranger's question, inching closer on three limbs as a tiger would, hand still stretched out. Jagger. A name she could remember with ease, she knew the nature on her body would definitely remember.
Grabbing his hand, her fingers wrapped around his as the green mass of geo that made up her arm came to life. It pulled him closer to Wolma as slowly but surely his injuries seemed to completely disappear. Meanwhile, Wolma herself was busy channeling her magic into Jagger, making him feel waves of easiness as his injures became hers, whatever injuries he had at the time at least. She winced as she felt the brief pain of falling on her palms, but the feeling was temporary as the plant life on her quickly moved to heal her.
It was a unique process, taking one's wounds, putting it on herself, and then healing herself versus outright healing the wounded person. Yes it had it's downsides but it had it's benefits as well. When Wolma was done, she pulled her hand back and smiled, pointing to Jagger's healed hand with her more human finger. Sitting on her knees, she then waited to see what her new friend Jagger thought.

[attr="class","grBody"]Always one to graciously dance in life's flow, Jagger's eyes gazed on with excitement. Curiosity shone brighter than any star in his sapphire hues. Throughout his short life, the angel's healing capabilities were limited and long stifled from years spent suffering under medication. Thus, the blond held an interest in the plant woman's capabilities with her powers. The tiger-like crouch of the woman was unnoticed by Jagger, however, to his fortune Wolma appeared to possess no ill-intentions for the young, adventurous boy.
[break][break]
The woman's fauna hand wrapped around his hand, the plant life appearing to gain liveliness as the process started. Immediately, Jagger's jaw dropped as he stared at the flourishing fauna. Gradually, the pain tickling his poms dissipated, waning until it became nonexistent. The easiness stirring within Jagger prompted him to ease beneath her gentle, fauna-absorbed hand. As her hand pulled away, it revealed recovered scrapes. A gasp left the blond's lips at the sight of his mended hand. The young man was impressed by the woman's capabilities.
[break][break]
"WOW! You really can heal! You're amazing, Wolma!" The blond happily cheered. "I couldn't imagine doing this!"
[break][break]
The angel was amazed at Wolma's capabilities in healing. Throughout his life, he could never manage to learn the healing ability to its fullest potential. A broad smile played across Jagger's lips as he examined his hand. Slowly, the angel stood to his feet, dusting off his clothes.
[break][break]
"Well! I need to continue my adventure, but, you can come with me if you like!" Jagger gleefully cheered out.
[break][break]
Once at his feet, Jagger gestured for Wolma to follow him. The meadow was his destination, and Jagger was determined to proceed on his adventurous journey through nature.
Wolma growled happily at her new best friend's excitement, bouncing up to her feet and clapping her hands... although it didn't sound like clapping, more so soft leaves rustling in the wind. It wasn't often she had the chance to use the flora on her for it's healing capabilities on other people. Granted, she also didn't quite understand why other people didn't have their own living nature attached to them.
After all, wasn't it common for gifted humans to tragically lose a limb or two and get it replaced with the wildlife around them? Most likely not, but Wolma liked to think so in her head to make it that much easier to find new friends to gravitate towards. For a brief moment, Wolma considered teaching Jagger her unique healing but, after taking a good long look at him, came to the conclusion it wouldn't quite work the same way.
As Jagger dusted himself off, Wolma mimicked his actions to a T, even if she didn't have any clothes to dust off besides her torn crop, she did so anyway with a smile. The fiend of nature then nodded solemnly at Jagger, beginning to walk closer to the angel ready to follow her best friend. "Where...?" Wolma asked slowly, struggling to get the word out and thankful it wasn't just a gurgle or growl or German as usual. She was always ready for traveling! As long as it meant it wasn't traversing the long and twisted halls of a school building.

[attr="class","grBody"]Freshly dusted and healed, Jagger was bouncing with energy and prepared to proceed on his journey. Even without the hastened recovery, the young blond always managed to maintain his heightened and adventurous spirits. After his freedom from the restraints of drugs, Jagger felt a necessity to make up for those missed-out years. The angel jumped on the balls of his feet, excitement pumping through his veins. Only increasing his wishes for adventure and enjoyment was his procured healer and friend. Finally, there would be a person to enjoy an adventure with him, and the thought brought him happiness.
[break][break]
The mutual bouncing and clapping from Wolma only confirmed Jagger's wishes! A friend to walk alongside him on their epic (not really) adventure through Wanderer's Meadow! A triumphant grin played across the clumsy man's lips as he placed his hands on his hips. Once they were both on their feet and prepared to go, the blond gestured for Wolma to follow him from the treeline and into the tall grass. Though at the question for where the angel paused and chuckled to himself for a moment; that was important knowledge of his fellow adventurer.
[break][break]
"Yeah! I guess you need to know that, bud!" Jagger merrily stated. "Anyways! The plan is for Wanderer's Meadow! Not too far, but I wanna look all around there! Well everywhere! Like imagine! You go into the wilderness and BAM, already know where everything is! It would be so badass!"
[break][break]
His plans were happily announced by the blond teenager. After seemingly being avoided by a few of the students at school, Jagger was determined to prove himself among them! He was a teen with wishes of fitting in, the average given his vulnerable age. Though, he, fortunately, had been graced with now two friends to his list! The pro-gamer Mitch Gravisk and the radical plant healer, Wolma! With the words stated, Jagger turned away and began strolling into the high grass of the meadow.
Wanderer's Meadow, a place she should know very well if the fiend she called a gift was anything to go by, but she smiled away anyway knowing it probably wouldn't help due to it's cautious nature, beaming with energy. A new friend is a family friend, especially in her natural environment. Again she mimicked Jagger and put her hands on her hips, nodding.
Not missing a beat, Wolma sprinted the moment he turned to begin the trek, jumping, aiming to hop on his back and never let go. If she suceeded, she'd feel almost weightless to him.
"Naturfiend," she'd say, as she began to channel her own magic through Jagger (despite there being nothing to heal or transmit), pointing like a child for him to go eagerly. If she failed in her jump, she'd simply land softly on the ground, tilt her head, smile, and point in the direction he was going, ready to go in no general direction.

A promising companion and plenty of adventurous spirits, Jagger felt prepared for whatever faced them inside the covenant Wanderer’s Meadow! Already, the blond knew he was armed and prepared for an enjoyable time. He managed to knab himself an intriguing friend, a woman of nature and human, a curious creature that Jagger thought was incredible! Parts of the angel wished he could accomplish the incredible feats Wolma showed she could do. A capable heal, using her magic to mend together with his flesh and a neat plant-human hybrid that hid amidst trees!
[break][break]
The blond turned his back to the nature woman, a broad grin stretching across his face. He was determined to have their adventure to be the greatest. Through the branches of swaying trees and leaves of underbrush was their destination, not extensive, but a perfect short trip. As he prepared himself to continue, a light presence jumped atop the young man's back. A soft 'huh' escaped Jagger's lips as he glanced over his shoulder best he could. There, he saw her, the peculiar word escaping her lips lifting a brow.
[break][break]
"Nature... what?" He murmured in confusion.
[break][break]
Despite the befuddlement from the words, Jagger began with gradual steps. The woman was surprisingly light, staying secure and balanced on his back as she pointed. Thus, the blond was not bothered by following her directions, instead smiling and strolling forward with his radical plant friend clinging to his shoulders.
"Naturfiend?" Wolma would repeat in response to the murmur, holding tight as they began their trek to... somewhere fun no doubt, occasionally ducking her head to avoid harmless leaves overhead. Racing through her head were different locations to visit with her new friend, but for now she was content just wandering. It wasn't like they were or going to be lost...
"Where... to?" Wolma asked Jagger through her normal broken stutter, wondering where exactly he wanted to go and itching to use more of her gift Naturfiend; mostly to impress him. It was important to keep the friends you make right?

The repetition of the foreign word failed to answer the young blond’s inquiries about the meaning of said word, however, he contemplated shrugging it off. Rather than gather all the information, he could rush into the fray of it and discover the true meanings for himself. Whatever a… ‘naturfiend’ was, Jagger was certain he would figure it out with some experience! It was more fun rushing in and solving it, similar to a puzzle. Thus, a broad grin accented his brightened face, his mind getting into the game rather than questioning further.
[break][break]
Their adventure of wandering into the meadow would already be a magnificent journey, and Jagger was certain of the notion. The plant girl was not heavy, rather, making herself a presence over anything else and the blond could not complain. Excitement stirred inside him from the existence of his new companion and the places they would uncover. Thus, the simple question of where was greeted with an ever-broadening smile. Broken English hardly bothered Jagger given his friendship with another male, Mitch Gravisk, who similarly struggled in the topic.
[break][break]
“Wanderer’s Meadow!” He pointed forward triumphantly onward. “Maybe we will find something cool! Like buried treasure or something!”
[break][break]
The grin on Jagger’s face remained bright as he explained the destination. Shortly, his feet began moving, heading towards the infamous meadow outside of Lorsette.
That's right, Wanderer's Meadow, a name often forgotten to Wolma but familiar is more ways that weren't words. It was one of the areas in Lorsette where she shined the most; if she didn't want to be found she wouldn't be found, and if she wanted to use Naturfiend to the best of it's ability, here was the perfect place. Flora and Wolma just clicked well, and finding something cool like treasure sounded delightful to her.
A big smile made it's way onto her face, but she covered it with a green hand. Nodding repeatedly, she channeled more magic through to Jagger, increasing his speed. What fun would it be to brush along the tallgrass and leap over fallen trees on a wonderful day like this? Much to the flora attached to her's absolute dismay, Wolma was being her usual clingy, carefree self.
"Will... be fun." She attempted to say to the best of her abilities, trying not to use too much of a different language so he could understand her.

[attr="class","grBody"]Excitement brimmed through the blond’s veins at the thoughts of treasure, adventure and glory. Initially, he believed it would be a solo mission, but the addition of Wolma was a pleasure beyond thought. Spring air swirled around them, the scents of flower and chirping of birds. The lightweight woman clinging to his shoulders was a mysterious friend, however, an incredible and magical one. The clumsy blond was not expecting the interjection of magic throughout his body, but it arrived nonetheless, courtesy of the interesting, new friend hitching a ride atop his back.
[break][break]
His legs moved faster than usually, propelling him down the short path. A gentle ‘whoa’ of amazement escaped his lips as his blue eyes widened upon noticing the unique trait. It explained why the woman composed of flesh and plants secured herself to his back. She was a magical backpack! Capable of allowing him to run faster and move quicker. It became clear to Jagger that his luck had turned a little brighter by granting him a wonderful friend to spend his time with. Somebody who granted him magical powers!
[break][break]
“Wolma, you are so cool! WHOOOOOOOOO!” The blonde cheered as continued forward.
[break][break]
Closer arrived the gapping trees, growing sparse as they entered the meadow. A content laugh escaped Jagger’s lips as he hurried forward.
[break][break]
“Look Wolma! We made it!” He shouted triumphantly.
[break][break]
Alas, true to the fortunes of the young blond, his safety failed to last forever. The top of his foot slid beneath one of the final branches and abruptly the world beneath him disappeared. A gasp left his lips as Jagger tumbled to the ground, hitting the dirt with a light thud. There was pain as future bruises revealed themselves in reddish marks across his flesh, however, rather than become upset, Jagger began laughing. The laughter bubbled out of the cheerful blond as he planted his hands beneath him, lifting himself from the ground.
Wolma held on with a big smile, enjoying the soft wind hitting her as Jagger sped along and across the rather peaceful Meadow. Much to the sentient flora attached to her, her beloved(?) gift, she wasn't using so much magic that it would attempt to stop their fun, instead it was focusing it's efforts on not dying via falling off his back. The flora pinched Wolma, earning a shrug from the German girl of nature. She was having fun with her new best friend.
She emitted a high pitched growled in approvement at his words of praise, only making her even more adamant that the day didn't end prematurely and they found the treasures they sought. As Jagger shouted with victory, Wolma simply hugged his back, approvingly nuzzling his neck as any canine would do to a member of their pack. Some habits never leave...
But when she looked up again, the sight she saw wasn't a pleasant one any of her eyes. Both she and Jagger hit the ground in a tumble. It wasn't a hard impact, but it was enough for Wolma to go on red alert. The third eye on her forehead opened, it's golden ire staring at the earthbound Jagger with concern. Rolling to her hands and feet, she quickly moved up towards him, her face riddled with sorrow. Was this her doing, did she make him go too fast? Quickly she sprang into action: she instantly saw her friend get to his feet; she with soft hands sharply pulled him back down to the ground, giving him what amounted to a death stare... but in a far more concerning way. She didn't want him moving before she was done, that much was clear.
Wolma then went in for a hug. If she was successful, she would maintain the tight hug, channeling more and more of her magic through him until his injuries appeared on her body, and he was healed. Not only that, she released her grasp on him, found a nearby tortoise, and showed it to Jagger with a nod. Placing it down carefully, she took his hand and held it, again pouring magic through him, giving him the attributes of the tortoise. The impressive shell that was the animal's primary defense was now his own... Wolma made sure to ensure his skin copied the shell's properties to a Tee. Satisfied, Wolma sat down on a soft patch of grass across from Jagger, waiting for any sign of well being.
"Leichtsinnig!" Wolma said, the most clearest she's ever said a word that evening. 'Careless'... in German, yes, but her facial expression and tone made the word's meaning clear. She wasn't too thrilled at her friend being injured but his carefree and friendly attitude about it forced Wolma to hide a mirrored and mutual smile.
