Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

[attr="class","plotbg"]Skating wasn't a foreign concept to Shib given the place he had grown up in- it was more so a case of being inexperienced mostly out of fear of ever attempting it. People with good sense of balance would do better on ice and Shib had been positive that he was not one of those. The last someone tried to insist he'd go skating with them he was ridiculous enough to try to balance on one leg- and let's say he was shakier than a thin twig doing all it can to stay on a tree. The only reason he ever gave it any sort of thought or consideration was none other the friend he'd been rapidly become closer too. [break][break]
Eris shared countless videos of professional skaters and hockey videos throughout the week alongside lots and lots of comments about how he eagerly wanted to go skating himself. It was a natural instinct and before he knew it; Shib had threw out the offer of going despite him being terrified of slipping. Though... such information hadn't been passed along to Eris since Shib wanted to guarantee his friend remained happy about the whole ordeal. When it came down to it... well... Shib would be upfront to him when they first go about it.[break][break]
The sound of his door rustling causes his head to turn- sight of his sister peaking in with a comment "mom left you money on the counter!" before exiting and closing the door with a click. Shib was in the process of mumbling a thanks before her exit- his now covered hands grabbed for the scarf placed on his bed. The first thing he put on had been his big coat with a few underlaying shirts as Shib was very bad with the cold.... and well, they would be in a place full of it. [break][break]
He left his room and headed to their island- grabbing the money on his way out. With the door to his home clicking behind him he had rummaged into his pocket- retrieving his wallet and putting the money for today's endeavors in there. He hadn't bothered to check the time but a part of him hoped- he wasn't running late. [break][break]
His feet continued to move and he had been on his way to the bus stop- the meeting place for today. It wasn't too far from where he lived so he should be there within a block or so. In the mean time of walking there he was back to processing just what he had agreed too. Shib probably should've been glad he didn't do some more research on the kind of injuries you could get from smacking a solid ice...ground too hard. The chameleon shudders at the thought and took in another deep exhale.[break][break]
Shib had to suck it up! That's... that's all he had to do. Eris never went skating before either and he was fine. So surely, he should be too! With a couple of minutes passing by he had arrived to the destination in no time- his eyes widening in happiness as his hand went up in a quick wave. "Eris!!" He chirps happily as there was a small spring in his step forward. [break][break]
"I think... I'm ready for today. How about you?" He laughs nervously, breaking the ice (hopefully in this conversation alone only).

[attr="class","plotbg"]Eris had been the spitting image of how he was when he was first made to take him out. It was relieving to see that he had helped rejuvenate the male from his unfortunate prior interactions. A joyous warmth radiated from him which was uplifting his own mood. It did good to have someone so positive around; his nerves that constantly sprung up were being washed away with each smile and sweet comment about Shib. All he did was treat Eris with basic common decency and yet Eris had been treating him as if he had been doing everything and more. It made him happy but also question small things- Did he not receive enough of this?[break][break]
"Ahhh if you keep being so nice to me I'm not gonna be able to handle it!" He giggles and came to a halt in front of a classroom. The time for diversion had arisen; saving him from the further praise he would've likely received. "This is the first class you have of the day! So! English... It'll most likely look exactly the same as every room minus decorations and all..." He then paused so he could take a few steps forward to point at the door that had been nearby to the other classroom. "Then the third door is your Math class, which is your second class of the day!" He nods. "The easiest way to remember is that you gotta go up the first flight of stairs for both of these classes."[break][break]
Shib scratched his chin as he recalled back to the list. "You also had biology and history....right? I think they're up one more floor and one's at the start of the hallway- the other is at the very end. We can go stop by since it's so close." He motioned for him to follow, retracing the steps he had taken prior. All they needed to do was go up a few more steps to reach their destination. He held onto the railing of the stairs as he spoke. "I forgot to respond to you but... being in a new place is always pretty exciting. School though, it's probably not going to be as fun as you may feel right now. It's always a bit stressful and things... so well I wish you luck!" He laughs as they reach where they were headed.[break][break]
Shib walked forward a few and peaked into the first class- his head pulls back shortly after and gave Eris a thumbs up. "Yeah this is History- I just had to make sure since I wasn't so sure." He pointed. "Biology has to be at the back, so the door hugging the right side of the wall is the class for it!" Shib turned to look back at him. "You got everything memorized? Want me to slow here for a moment so you can adjust before we continue?"

[attr="class","plotbg"]It was clear whoever this girl was; one thing for sure was she had been motivated by food. The immediate light-up of her eyes followed by the tone of her voice increasing with the confirmation of his prior words. If giving her some of his lunch really would make her that happy... Shib had no problem doing it. "I do! Just lemme know what you want and I'll give you some!" He had pretty balanced lunches; his parents were big on making sure he hadn't been consuming too much junk food but it wasn't as if all of what he had tasted bad either. [break][break]
"You're really nice!" It was always a coin flip the kind of person he could end up interacting with but fate was on his side! The green haired female seemed right up his alley. The pun was unexpected but it certainly did loosen him up. A loud chuckle erupted from behind his hand.. puns were good on their own but make it an animal pun? It was the right way to turn Shib into a giggling mess. "Yes!! I'm a Shiiib... a Inu! Sort of! Maybe.... a colorful dog-reptile...?" His nerves seemed to have ease with her pun talents. "Ahhh! Ziya! I would try to return it but I'm not good at all with puns so I'll leave it to you." [break][break]
His stature had perked up and he no longer was slouching as much. A wide smile resided on his face as he reached to grab some more of his fruit. "How'd your classes go?? I'm a bit tired from all the walking so lunch couldn't have come at a more perfect time." He finished speaking and had popped the grape into his mouth, chewing quietly while his attention remained fixated on his newly-established friend.
>_< That's mean... Why is it a surprise? you don't even know me...
Little.... accomplishment?
If you brag about your success in a manner like this... I don't think you deserve it. You don't deserve to be praised when your such...such AN awful person!!!
I'm not perfect so I can't excel at everything....

[attr="class","plotbg"] He was a stranger. A person who he had not been familiar with whatsoever but with the simplest mention of the world leaving come out of his mouth did it spark such a fear ignited response out of the weakened shifter. His grip tightens as the shaking only intensified. Broken sobs and pleas of desperation for him to not go, to not leave him here because who knows... what if they'll come back? Shib was terrified and not fully in the right state of mind so not all of what Icarus had spoken got to him. He heard keywords and clung to that- to Icarus's misfortune the words that had clung to him just had to be worst ones of the few. "I don't wanna be left alone..."[break][break]
How was he going to explain this to his parents? There was no way he could walk back home with ease given the state of his foot, his cellphones screen got broken in the progress of all of this... and all that remained for options of doing anything was for the stranger to take him home and deal with most likely an awkward barrage his parents and any sibling home would most definitely give him. "I don't know..." Shib was overwhelmed by all of these thoughts, these things that would likely happen. It's a trickle down effect that only seemingly gets worse with each realization.[break][break]
The next to struck him is the fact that.... will the bullying even end here? Who's to say they wouldn't threaten him to remain silent about this? His spirit is crushed and weakly did his hands move to cover his face. Muffled weeps fell into his hands as fear and ache consumed him. He just wanted to live a normal school life... and yet he had no idea things would reach such a scary point for him. Shib sucked in deep breaths in hopes of regaining himself but everything felt like it had been going the worst possible route. "I'm not sure if... if my phone is broken. They... smashed it..." [break][break]
His hands pull from his face as he sucks in a deep breath and sniffs, congested from the stream of tears that has yet to cease. His hand shakily moved and pointed left of him where a distance way laid his phone on it's screen. It had been tossed... and stepped on from what he was aware of. "C-cause... well um... ah... they didn't want me to... call for help I guess..." Breaking his phone was a sure fire way of preventing that after all but it wasn't even confirmed if it was broken. "Do you um... do you mind grabbing it for me? I can't r-really move right now."[break][break]
He was grateful for this stranger though. From his soft tone to the words of concern and keeping him in mind... he knew he was in safe hands. If they did come back, surely... they would be unable to do anything thanks to him. "A preference..." Shib's hands rested on his lap, rubbing against the fabric of his pants. "Can you... you take me home? It's not too far but... a lengthy walk is a thing so..." Shib pauses and frowns. "I'm sorry for i..interrupting your day. I'm p-probably being a bother... like this ha...ha... If only I was stronger..."[break][break]
[attr="class","plotsubtext"] you make me feel special
[attr="class","plotbg"]The chameleon's head nodded enthusiastically. "You get me completely!" Shib felt every word she had been exclaiming. Seasons had such an effect on how he interpreted scenic views he'd come to know from how long he had been living here for but with each new season did small changes that were unlike what he was used to happen. Breathtaking sights like that always were the most intriguing and beautiful to the young teenager. "I think we'll work together really nice, Holly!" Getting started on this class assignment had been only something Shib was further looking too more and more they got into their discussion.[break][break]
He swayed in place upon hearing her agreement and watching her take a bite out of the strawberry. He always came with an abundance of fruit each and everyday since having fruit amongst all of the other things he ate always put a spring in his step. "Right?! Aren't they gooood? I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish them so feel free to eat them with me, okay?" Shib grins widely- hands moving to pluck a strawberry for himself. "But... but I'm glad you're as excited for this project as I am. I was kinda nervous i'd get stuck with someone that was hard to work with." [break][break]
Shib sighed in relief as his smile only grew. "You're the furthest from that! So... I think maybe, we should go for a landscape but we could try to do like.... how about we did a landscape that gradually had the season changing in sections? So one spot would be summer, another spring, autumn, and winter!!!" He knew it'd be a challenge but given how both of them were chiming in perhaps she'd be game? "What do you think?" All Shib was capable of in this moment was hoping he came up with a cool idea and not one that would make her unhappy or overwhelmed either! Art was supposed to fun... and he wanted to do just that with her.[break][break]
[attr="class","plotsubtext"] you make me feel special
[attr="class","plotbg"]There were certain type of crane games he had been fairly decent at. With the amount of hours he poured into watching a variety of winning all the toys at arcade videos did Shib gradually pick up on the most efficient way to attack a fluffy stuffed friend that was in the glorious machines. The chameleon also knew it would make an worthwhile experience if he were to win something for his potential new friend. "Mhmm!" He hummed in a sing-song tone as his eyes glanced around the various machines and stalls of games. "Shib Parker is me!" [break][break]
Though Preston probably was already aware of the fact but still an even extra confirmation couldn't hurt. Not one bit, no. The chameleon wasn't some top-notch guide or adapt at keeping conversations alive but he did know how to grab onto what scraps he could. How they both signed up to this friendship initiative or given the fact they were about the same age! There was that chance of them having things in common, all it took was a shove of Shib biting the bullet and throwing out questions. Possible topics the two could carry out so the silence between them wouldn't carry on. [break][break]
The purple haired male's eyes took notice of the occasional fidgeting he picked up on coming from the blonde besides him. It was oddly comforting to see him as awkward as Shib normally would've been. If it weren't for the energy drinks he had chugged prior to coming... he might've been just like that too! Preston wasn't so different from him... they both struggled in social situations it seemed so he found comfort in that alone. "Sooo what made you wanna sign up for this event?" A beaming smile is shown in the direction of the angel. He truly hoped that they would be able to become friends.[break][break]
His feet come to a halt in front of a crane machine as his eyes glanced between it and Preston. The stuff animals within the machine were all brightly colored but it was between typical plush animals- A cute bear... lion, dog, or cat but they were all varied in color. Some were pure white with blends of reds and blues or one had been pure green with white dots. Shib definitely wanted to go for the white cat with blue blended into the fur for himself. "Gonna try to see if I can get this one for myself!!! You can look in the machine and let me know which you like!"[break][break]
He slipped several coins within the machine as his hand gripped the control handle while his fingers rested on the buttons. His attention shifted and his focus activated- he moved the crane's arm in front of the cat plush. He paused once at a decent spot and moved away from the front of the machine to peer from the side for a moment- making sure he had been aligned with the head of the toy. If he could grab it from there... that would be best. His feet back stepped as he gripped the handle to adjust the arm a bit before he hit the button. "Let's hope I got it, hehe..."

[attr="class","plotbg"] The bouncing of the other male had quite the reassuring effect on the chameleon. Actions spoke louder than any kind of words could for the young teenager. A way of telling him that whatever he had been doing was correct. That the male before him was satisfied with their conversations, the plans that were going to be unfolded throughout the tour session he'd be giving today. The enthusiasm of Eris's behavior only rubbed off on him too. He had wanted nothing more but to follow in his footsteps and brighten his own mood a tad bit.[break][break]
Perhaps he might even be able to shake that bothersome stutter that always effected him under high amounts of pressure. "Wow! Saying something like that hehe.... you're really so kind!" His giggles became increasingly loud as his shoulders bounced. "I can't promise I'm that amazing but if that does end up happening... should I be honored or surprised?" He hadn't been expecting for his tour to be that amazing but Eris gave him the feeling that it might. [break][break]
His hand motioned for the male to follow after him as his feet began to make it's descent down the long hallway. Shib had been moderate in speed; not too fast but also not too slow. Just perfect enough to where Eris could follow along without the worry of being left behind. The chameleon even went out of his way to turn his head and make sure he caught up so the two could continue walking side by side. Conversation would definitely feel much more natural if he stayed at his side like that. He also didn't want Eris falling back and feeling alone either![break][break]
"So... Eris..." As much as he wished to keep up on that hype train of emotion the reality hits like a truck. He couldn't just magically increase his skills in socializing. He hadn't been sure what kind of influence had been washing over him prior for him to be saying so much but now when the lack of natural topics ceased he was lost. A lump forms in his throat as his struggles to keep what had been natural conversation alive. "I-if you don't mind..." He smiles nervously, hands fiddling in front of him with one another. "What brought you here?" It wasn't the most unique of questions and even a little private. "If not we can totally talk about something else!!!"[break][break]
"Like... interests or... or what you're most excited for ...when it comes to starting a new school life!" His rambling of nerves allowed him to shove out conversation topics. Shib was feeling a bit of regret for what he had asked. It wasn't the best of ideas to ask something like that but it was much too late. Personal questions were usually no good off the bat but ones that were a lot more easy to discuss managed to escape his mouth. Shib fumbled on that one but what was said had been said. All Shib could do now was hope that Eris wouldn't dislike him for prying in a way most who meet for the first time shouldn't.
[attr="class","plotsubtext"] you make me feel special
[attr="class","plotbg"]"Um..." A greeting unlike one he's ever received before. It left the question of what was a russian nesting doll within his head but an awkward laugh bubbled up from without his throat. Not saying anything here felt like it'd be bad so a laugh was better than nothing. [break][break]
The way she had just strived up to him and boldly came out with her intentions like that left Shib awestricken. Shib didn't have the ounce of confidence or guts within himself to waltz himself right up to a table with a stranger seated at it and say something like she just did but the fact that she had been paying attention. Noticed him here all by himself and thought that she wanted to change that. It was extremely touching and the chameleon couldn't help but crack an eager smile on his features. There was no way she could possibly be someone bad if she had done this much, right?![break][break]
"There's no need to be quiet!" He mumbles as his hands fidgeted with yet another grape before he plopped it into his mouth to silently crunch. "Hahah... you really do have a point but um... don't worry! I won't take your pretzels... I usually can't even finish my lunch so maybe I'll be the one sharing with you." The mood around him had notably lifted up by the simple kindness that was shone his way although he was still awkward with some movements but it was clear that the idea of having someone around was accepted. [break][break]
"Do you normally eat school lunch...-- oh! right! I don't know your name yet... I'm so sorry I forgot to ask." Shib hands lifted to flail about in a panic. "Um... um my name is Shib!! Shib Parker... it's very nice to meet you and.. well... I'm glad you came to sit with me. No one's really ever done that before so I hope we can have a good lunch together or something." He spoke all of that quickly and when the time came where he stopped, he had gone silent immediately. Shib had hoped to introduce himself nice and slowly but... yeah... that was an attempt.[break][break]
"I hope I didn't speak too fast ah... I am a little nervous for some reason, hahaha..."
