Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
[attr="class","malakaimenand2"]Mother's Day. A time to appreciate the mighty woman who gave birth and cared for their children with the spirits of bears. Woman regarded as protective, loving and caring towards their children. Motherly instincts were a term for a reason, therefore, it was only sensible. Although, Malakai always held mixed sentiments towards the illustrious and long-loved holiday... If everybody possessed an excellent mother in this world, then everything would be unbalanced. Alas, the villainous intentions locked within that woman always terrified the young field medic.
The scars burned across his body with every cruel memory of those shadowed days. The knife in her hands, her bitter, hatred-filled words accompanied by a cruel disregard for his physical and mental health. The sheer thought would sharpen Malakai's breath, air entering his throat like a twisted knife of fear. Early May was never a favourable time to the emotionally damaged young man as banners stating 'Happy Mother's Day' hung ahead. If his father did not require him to go grocery shopping, Malakai would have remained indoors.
With Joseph Moors, Malakai's father, being a spirit, the grocery shopping was left to the single living resident of the household. A sensible choice, however, frightful during the spring month. Quietly, Malakai walked the business district, head down and nervous because of the situation thrust upon him. Everywhere around the bespectacled man were magnificent gifts to display one's love for their mother. Yet, every instance of the word being shoved before his hazel eyes reminded him of the evil that lurked within his.
Acceptance was nonexistent when the realization of his sexuality was brought forth with endless glee. Rather, since puberty he felt the cold sting of her hand and devastation of her ridicule. A mother was a poor term to the woman locked away in a prison cell, rather, she was a monster. Lining the outer wall of grocery store were shelves of stalls selling various flowers. Gorgeous bouquets with a sign stating 'Get your mother the perfect gift' in big letters. Briefly, Malakai's eyes glanced over it before hastily fleeing into the market.
Upon entry, Malakai's mind hastily viewed over his mental list. Milk, bread along with a few other necessities and he could retreat from the glass double doors. Upon his entries, Malakai strolled over, grabbing one of the metallic baskets. Lazily, it hung from his fingers, the bespectacled medic hurrying into the store. The quicker he gathered his groceries, the sooner he could retreat home. The sounds of his feet tapping on the tiled floor echoed in his ears as he weaved through the grocery store halls, attempting to avoid gazing at the many decorations.
Mother's Day was among the few celebrations he disliked... Those haunting images of his mother flashed into his mind with every step... Why did he need to leave?! Time was limited the day before, therefore, the suffering being bore on his shoulders refused to cease pressure. The first stop became the bakery where the bread he desired was stationed on the wooden shelves. Tables with stacks of glorious baked goods in plastic cases made wonky aisle ways. Although, lined closest to the shelves of bread were several mother's day cakes of varying colours and decor...
Everywhere this holiday stationed itself, to Malakai's struggle! An anxious 'mmm' rumbled inaudibly from his throat as he gulped. There were a few mother's days celebrations the bespectacled man was capable of enjoying... The painful memories of how quickly their relationship changed... A deep breath was forcefully sucked into the depths of Malakai's lungs as he ventured closer. His legs carried him fast, plucking the loaf from shelf. The ravennette turned, a silent victory celebration occurring in his mind until bam!
He failed to watch where he was going... The bespectacled man crashing right into another patron of the store. A squeak left his mouth, shock coating his face.
"S-sorry!
The apology was exclaimed as Malakai's face went several shades red. He never handled these situations well... Anything with confrontation bothered the anxious, young medic. Alas, to his fault, Malakai had crashed into the other patron, therefore he was required to serve his apology.
To him such holiday was one of importance but not to the level where he felt the need to go haywire with it. Blessed to have such a connection with his mother was the result of why Xabi stayed so strong throughout his youth. He couldn't do much but the comforting his mother brought him and how in the end she'd always be on his side is what pushed him to be the man he is today. The flashy advertisements he sees too were all an obvious ploy to him that he didn't feel the need to succumb too. It was much geared at people with a lack of restraint.[break][break]
An incredible women like her deserved much more than a gift of flower or some kind of fancy jewelry. She was not much of a materialistic person which was why the two planned to spend the evening as they always did whenever this day would come round prior to his arrest. A home-cooked meal made together and time to catch up over the period they hadn't been able to see each other.[break][break]
It was a frequent occurrence that happened for Xabi after he had gotten out of prison. Especially since he had been dealing with the disappearance of Gavin on top of all things. The amount of rough days he had increased rapidly but his mother being there for him... it was what kept him grounded. Everything after that point had naturally followed... he managed to get a job, efforts towards locating Gavin were increased despite majority of his family's attempts coming to an end.[break][break]
His mother was even supportive of him continuing the search. She was just as hopeful as he was in the fact that Gavin was out there somewhere. They both couldn't give up on the man who went all out in trying to get him free. He couldn't give up on the one he sworn to love for the entirety of his life either. With the basket in hand, did he leave another isle, heading towards the section with the various bread. [break][break]
Xabi had a mental checklist of the items needed for tonight's meal. With the both of them being so tall unfortunately meant they had the appetite of a beast. He wanted nothing more than feed his mother a nice fitting meal. It had been a stroke of luck that the amount of clients he had increased by the tenfold. He was looking forward to it... his cooking abilities weren't no chef level but he had his skills when it came to following a recipe.[break][break]
He cracks a smile on his face but slowly does it fade as the giant drifts back off into his thoughts regarding Gavin. How... nice it would've been to be able to do this with all three of them. Xabi was about to let out a sigh until an unfortunate male and him had made an accidental collision. [break][break]
Hearing the stuttered response and obviously panicked state of the other patron had him urging for this to be settled. Rational fear of assumptions being made can't help but overcome him but he takes in a deep breath. Not everyone was rude... it was something he had to tell himself. He shook his head, attention focusing on the poor individual who had bumped into him.[break][break]
"Do not worry..." He moved his hand back to his side. "I'm equally at blame here... I am abnormally tall so I was not able to see you. " One of the perks of being a giant and all. "I'm very sorry as well... I hope you didn't get hurt in anyway?"[break][break]
[attr="class","malakaimenand2"]Wolves pouncing on their prey, Malakai's insecurities and endless concerns leaked into the forefront of his mind. In his haste, he managed to interrupt the passage of another shopper. As his hazel eyes finally locked onto the individual he bumped into, nerves crawled over his skin. The person in question was an intimidating wall of pure muscle. A stranger of notable height, the type that made the relatively tall medic feel short. His self-consciousness picked away at his faults while the man's imposing height left him feeling tiny.
Confrontation was already a questionable topic for Malakai, but it being coupled with the man's imposing size only made the situation worse. The mental chastising began automatically without a moment's pause. Ceasing the tirade of insistence from his insecure was impossible for Malakai. He knew he wronged the significantly taller man the moment he failed to check his surroundings. Therefore, the blame for the incident rested hefty atop his shoulders. After the height assessment, Malakai’s eyes retreated to the tiled floor, praying his apology was sufficient.
He should have maintained attentiveness rather than pulling away from the bread shelf without a second thought! The follies of his actions, he expected, would play out in a sorrowful scolding of ‘be more careful’ opposed to anything else. His mind screamed his faults, informing him of his momentary idiocy on a constant replay. His breath was held as he waited for what he expected from the man’s lips… yet it never came.
Surprise flickered in Malakai’s hazel hues as the larger man returned the apology, chalking it up to a failure because of his extreme height. The warlock’s eyes gradually returned, shyly gazing up at the stranger. Large was hardly the word for the muscle wall standing in the bread aisle… If somebody else failed to infiltrate the closeted homosexual’s mind, perhaps he would have mistakenly gawk. Alas, any thoughts of romance went to his close friend, Donovan Beckard. A person Malakai respected and cared for without his mind straying.
“I’m fine,” the words hushly left his lips as bewilderment consumed him. “An-and don’t blame yourself! I… was in too much of a hurry…”
The sentence was punctuated with an awkward smile. He prayed his ears would not be graced with the infamous why question. The warlock was never comfortable speaking in regards to his mother and could hardly manage out a white lie. The present social situation left the bespectacled man a mixture of confused, surprised and undoubtedly anxious. Forced conversational settings failed to assist in dampening Malakai’s seemingly endless shyness. A slight trepidation leaked into his heart, his eyes soon straying from the tall man’s face to meet with other items within the store.
Eye contact was never easily maintained, thus Malakai’s hazel eyes made constant movements. Meanwhile his fingers twitched up and down, slight and hardly noticeable unless examined closely. The soft cues of anxiety washed over him similar to rain in a downpour; without control and with some more obvious traits.
[attr="class","pirate-content2"]Xabi hadn't been much of a charmer himself but it's not like he was inadequate when it came to handling socialization. Being a bodyguard had it's perks; one of which allowed to him to rapidly develop the ability to communicate or call out to others with ease. He couldn't afford to shy away in scenarios where those who were threatening lingered which is why the giant was grateful for the fact he had been blessed with this occupation. Coming straight out of jail where he had been isolated for a long time, he would've been exhibiting uneasiness like this if it hadn't been for Uriel assisting him when did.[break][break]
The giant could only shake his head dismissively as his hands held up in further hopes of prevention of blame being directed onto the smaller man before him. Xabi definitely had been more of the bother out of them. Malakai was a smaller and thinner male than he was. This whole scenario could've been avoided if he had just shrunk himself down but it was admittedly an ability he often not forgot he possessed. Only times like now, when it was far too late did he realize it was something he could do. "Really? I would rather you not pin the blame on yourself alone."[break][break]
Xabi's head nodded in acknowledgement of his words. A slight tilt of his head followed by a small chuckle. "I don't blame you... I too dislike lingering much longer than needed within the grocery store. Especially when such gaudy and annoying advertisements are littered throughout the entirety of the place." He shoots his unfavorable opinion of them profiting off of the holiday at question. The giant gazes down at him much closer, attention focusing to the black hair male. [break][break]
"What has you in a rush? Perhaps a little assistance on my end so we can get you out of here faster?" He smiles warmly. A habit of his to help out was always a thing and the aura of the male before him only screamed how he was unsettled. Part of him hoped it wasn't because of himself but Xabi couldn't help but have such thoughts linger there. False accusations and plenty of prior experiences of this exact thing made it hard for the Giant to shake. He despised such thoughts plaguing his mind but they were like shackles he couldn't shake. Deep rooted insecurity like this was impossible for him to rid of with ease. No matter how hard he tried it'd always come back and even now he couldn't flee from the thoughts that arose in the back of his mind.
[attr="class","malakaimenand2"]Never had Malakai discovered himself capable of adequately maintaining conversation, especially with the more attractive of his favoured gender. It proved in the seconds spent anxiously shifting amidst the continued conversation. His brown eyes flickered between the stranger, wandering before returning for meagre seconds. Inside his heart anxiously danced, unable to return to regular rhythm from his nervousness in social circumstances. His fingers subtly twitched around the basket handles as he softly chewed the inner lining of his lower lip.
Alas, the man brimming in benevolence refused to accept his insistence on fault laying upon Malakai. The anxious man's gaze returned to the stranger for a moment, astonishment shining in the hazel flecks. However, the bashful man's gaze lacked the courage to stare long at the attractive, muscle-sculpted man. Rather, they peeled off moments later as he raked his mind for a proper response to the man's seemingly endless kindness. Many would allow others to take the blame, often shaking it off or merely passing by with a returned sorry, but hurried steps.
However, this man, adamant in his beliefs of blame upon him or not sole blame upon one's party. The man's sweetness was admirable in a way.
"But... I was the one hurrying a bit too much... I didn't even look before I moved," he argued in a soft voice with hardly a touch of insistence.
However, the man possessed an unexpected quality Malakai never expected. A slight understanding over disdains on the flashing, mother's day advertising. The bespectacled man nodded in understanding, his body seeming to subtly ease. Nonetheless, his shyness remained, the harsh hold digging into him. Though only moments later would Malakai be launched into the vice-grip of anxiety. The reason behind his rushing movements was a strict secret. The haunting memories screeching inside his mind, leaking into the forefront.
Any positive expression wavered as his eyes locked straight with the ground. The subtle horror of thoughts in his eyes was briefed as Malakai attempted to mask it, but it leaked through.
"Uh... I just want to get home... n-nothing important," he stumbled through his words, voice quiet.
The anxiety oozed from his voice, visible with every moment of weakness in his sentence. It was a meagre excuse in desperate hope of avoiding further questioning. All the anxious man wanted was to complete his shopping and escape the realms of social requirements. Especially when it linked to the Mother's Day hurrying...
