Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

had roy not brought up the fact that food could also be served he probably wouldn't of ordered anything. the server was called and harvey quickly glanced through the different dishes. something simply and not something that would be messy. knowing him, anything could become messy if he wasn't careful. how embarrassing would that be, spilling food on himself. only children made mess. at least that's what his nanny would remind him every time he accidentally spilled something on himself.
roy ordered their drinks and harvey looked at him surprised."you're not going to eat?"would that be weird. harvey stuffing his face while his date simply had a glass of wine. the server turned to look at him. right he was actually going to eat. what though he hadn't decided yet. he looked at the menu once more before settling on the lasagna. harvey handed the menu back to the server before they left.
their conversation continued where it had left off, on the topic of camping. harvey nodded a smile on his face. the more they talked about it the more he was tempted to actually go camping. well, once the weather was a bit warmer. it would be nice to relax, sit by the fire and roast marshmallows."what's your favorite part of camping?"

[attr=class, bulk] Unlike a majority of species, boogeymen were not bond by the requirement of shoveling food into their mouth. Therefore, Roy leaned back, content with the delicate glass filled with reddish liquid. While the green-haired man held the ability to eat, he decided against it. Already his focus was somewhat divided between occasionally listening to background conversation and his blind date. Adding the consumption of food to that list would be a foolish notion. It would only create the risk of him missing valuable information around him or something his date stated.
[break][break]
The peculiar choice to deny the opportunity to order himself a meal naturally confused Harvey. Under most circumstances, both participants of a meal-based date would choose a meal. Based on the perplexed state of his date, Roy assumed Harvey was not familiar with undead species or boogeymen who were self-sustaining or required a different form of nourishment. An amused grin stretched across the informant's face at the curious question. It was intriguing to discover somebody who seemed somewhat unaware of the varying species trapped on this earth.
[break][break]
"I'm not required to," Roy explained in a single sentence.
[break][break]
If his date was intrigued by the notion, he would surrender the name of his species... The creature that feasted on fear, consuming every greedy morsel of somebody's emotions. Anxiety and terror were a delectable source of energy... He would have to check if any scary movies were playing when he returned home. Whoever he persuaded home would provide his meal, being perhaps this blue-haired man. After Harvey ordered, the waiter retreated into the kitchen. Only moments later would their camping conversation re-continue.
[break][break]
"Just being around the fire, looking at stars," a soft breath of a sigh left his lips. "Lots of good memories with that."
[break][break]
A subtle hint of a lip-tight smile tickled his lips. The blissful reverie of old memories filled Roy's mind for a moment. Out of all the people around that fire, he only missed his mother. Seconds later he snapped out of his memory trance, violet eyes focusing on his date again. A light-hearted chuckle rumbled from Roy's mouth.
[break][break]
"Sorry, got wrapped in thought a second there. What about you, Harvey? What is your favourite part of camping?"
[break][break]
These memory distractions required ignoring until he returned to the safe chambers of his Aria Village home. Those bittersweet memories were unnecessary during work hours. Into the pits of his mind, they were shoved and locked away. He could ponder them another time. The last thing he wanted was to create the impression of being an emotional wreck.

harvey nodded finally understanding. he probably looked like such a child for not getting it the first time. he knew there were tons of species out there. not that he met every single one. he, himself wasn't human. clearly he hadn't brushed up on those that didn't need to consume food. it's not like he went around asking everyone he met whether they were human or not. then again poor kid didn't really go out much. when he wasn't working, he was highly focused on his studies. honestly it was a miracle he had made friends at all.
if they so desired could they consume food or would it make them sick? did they have a sense of taste. too many questions popped into his head. none that he was going to ask. he didn't want to seemed rude. not to mention it was probably a little weird.
once that was over with they had continued with their camping conversation. harvey nodded would he sound like he was copying roy if he said he enjoyed the same things he had mentioned too. oh he did like swimming in the deep waters they could come across. he gazed at roy as he seemed to be so content. harvey shook his head at his apology."it's fine. i like sitting by the fire too. roasting marshmallows or telling scary stories."he chuckled softly."stargazing is nice too. i'm pretty sure i only know like one constellation."

[attr=class, bulk] Amusement flickered in Roy's violet eyes followed by the thin traces of a content smirk. He assumed his date was younger than him because of his lack of familiarity. Alas, there were no concrete facts given the possibility of Harvey being ignorant towards the existence of other species. Fortunately, Roy would take no offense to the young man's instance of neglect to species with varying needs. The man’s assumptions amused him more than offended him. Although, if Roy craved the delicious taste of food, he could have indulged himself.
[break][break]
As their conversation started again, the server returned with two glasses filled with red wine. The delicate, glass cups were set in their respective positions. He gave the waiter a nod of thanks before leaning curling his fingers around the stem. It was ferried to his lips, pressing it against his lips and taking a small sip of delectable wine. He smiled at Harvey as he listened to his favoured things about camping. Together, they sounded similar with their enjoyments with the hobby of camping. Campfires and stargazing, two activities they both enjoyed.
[break][break]
“I know a few, but I put some effort into knowing them,” Roy informed Harvey. “I don’t know the stories behind them though.”
[break][break]
Beneath the night sky, stars were a form of navigation. Therefore, Roy taught himself to recognize the constellations during their respective seasons. Should he get hopelessly lost, he could wait for nightfall and potentially navigate home. It was a useful skill to have after all.

he kept thinking how weird it would be to be the only one eating. surely there were others not eating then maybe it wouldn't make him feel so awkward. just like roy didn't need to eat, that really wasn't the case for harvey. the boy loved food and could rarely pass it up if it was offered to him. though he was positive he would forget all about feeling weird once the food arrived.
he'd be eating like nothing was wrong. which it wasn't. his thoughts were interrupted as the pouring of the wine began. he stared at his glass debating whether or not to try it now or wait till his food arrived. how many times had he heard not to drink on an empty stomach? though it wasn't like he was going to down the whole glass. he watched as roy took a sip from his glass."how is it?"harvey asked before picking up his own glass. he felt so childish. he eventually put the glass to his lips and had a taste.
can't say it was something he was expecting, since he never had wine before. it didn't taste too bad. it was bitter? was that the right word for it. he sat the cup down and nodded at the talk of constellations."i am no help in that department."harvey said with a laugh."the only one i vaguely remember is orion's belt. he was a hunter or something like that."he said with a bit of a shrug. at some point he must of had a lesson on the constellations, but so much for remembering any details. [attr=class, bulk] Never did Roy penny a thought towards the concept of him not eating while Harvey could happily consume the delicious, fanciful food of the restaurant. Although, the boogeyman was adjusted to these instances of being in group eating situations. In his old bandit troop, it was considered normal to have people not participating in the feasting. Emotions of absolute terror was Roy's food, something he gluttonously consumed by heading to horror movies at the theatres or startling those around him. It were the goals of his consuming.
[break][break]
Fortunately, he would occasionally sip his drink which he still fancied despite his lack of eating requirements. The green-haired man watched his date, a soft grin stretching across his face as he observed Harvey. The blue-haired man had noticed the arrival of the waiter and pouring of delectably bitter red wine. The young man seemed a tad hesitant about the drink, although, Roy understood considering it seemed Harvey was relatively new to drinking. It was among the reasons he chose wine as opposed to hard liquor with pop.
[break][break]
The bitter taste had already poured over Roy's tongue, therefore, he was not surprised by the question. The young man was curious about it.
[break][break]
"Not bad, I hope you like it," Roy commented on the drink.
[break][break]
He watched as Harvey's fingers wrapped around the glass to try the drink for himself. A smile graced his lips as he regarded his date.
[break][break]
"What did you think of the wine?" he asked, hoping to hear a positive opinion.
[break][break]
Their conversation strayed from wine, shortly returning to their astrology chat. The interactions they accomplished were proving magnificent, both enjoying it. A soft chuckle left his lips as he listened to Harvey's struggles in recognizing constellations.
[break][break]
"I only know them cause my friends and I used to try and navigate with them," Roy explained with a smile.
[break][break]
By friends, Roy meant his fellowship of bandits who overthrew him. They were required to learn them throughout the seasons to assist with missions. Navigation was a crucial skill for anyone living in the days prior to compasses and maps.

he had been glancing at the glass of wine for a few seconds. still debating whether or not to try it. he hoped it didn't taste too bad, he would feel bad if he didn't drink. roy seemed to like it. so maybe it wasn't too bad. then again roy had more experience then harvey did. he felt so childish right then. he took the glass and took a drink. not sure what he was expecting. it wasn't that big of a deal, it was just wine."it's not too bad."he told roy before taking another drink. it's not like he could compare it to anything else he had.
he set the cup down, anymore and probably would of finished it. not that he was taking big drinks or anything of the sort. it honestly didn't taste like wine. was this really about the wine? or was he still a bit nervous? was he trying to prove himself to roy? that he wasn't such a kid, even though roy had made no comment of the sort. it's just how harvey felt.
he nodded as roy told him that he had a reason for learning constellations."did you do a lot of traveling when you went on your camping trips?"harvey asked curiously. camping was different for everyone perhaps he liked adventuring. it seemed like roy went all out when he went camping with his friends. after a few minutes the server returned with his meal and asked if they needed anything else before they left. [attr=class, bulk] Age difference was an interesting device in their conversation. It allowed for differing knowledge between himself and his date, which he refused to complain about. Few people he engaged with reached around the 600 years he brandish, although, he wished not to handle the consequences of his actions. At times, people recognized the infamous bandit king, resulting in a variety of difficult interactions. There were plenty who despised his actions, especially given the crimes he committed to earn his living during those days.
[break][break]
Quietly, he observed Harvey's facial reaction to tasting the wine. An inexperienced individual in alcohol frequently churned up amusement. Alas, no surprised expressions were arriving on his date's countenance as he sampled his drink. He appeared tolerable to the flavour, going lengths to state the drink was not 'too bad'. Meaning, in Roy's opinion, Harvey was capable of downing it and the taste was not overwhelming. There was no voice to his opinion as he granted Harvey a simple nod. His lips curled into a soft smile as he leaned over, elbows improperly resting on the table.
[break][break]
His hands sat together, left below right above, suspended by propped elbows while his chin rested atop them.
[break][break]
"I am glad to hear," he purred cheerfully.
[break][break]
After handling the opinions on the alcoholic beverage, they returned to concepts of constellations. Stars and various other astronomical topics proved to be their primary source of discussion. The mention of travelling was met with a nod.
[break][break]
"Yes, we went on nightly hikes," Roy explained, albeit, in a lie.
[break][break]
Nightly hikes, a code word for 'we raided and killed a nobleman's carriage' as to avoid unwanted discomfort. Despite the telling of a lie, calls were limited. The boogeyman could stare directly into Harvey's eyes and not an ounce of lying calls would surface. It was a trick he learned from being a bandit and bettered with age. Dishonesty, while not the best policy, was crucial for someone of his affiliations.

maybe he was just lucky or roy knew how to pick good wine? whatever the case he was glad he was able to drink it. he was already nervous about this whole blind date thing, even more so that his date was very attractive and mature. he had been so fixated on the glass that it took him a moment to realize that roy was looking at him. he noticed his smile and couldn't help, but smile back. laughing softly at his words."i think you have good taste."
he picked up the glass once more talking a drink."i'll have to have you pick my next drink."okay, now he was just getting head of himself. there was no guarantee that they would see each other for another date. it was fine, there was nothing wrong with throwing that out there. it didn't have to be a date. they more they talked about camping, the more he needed to go do it once the weather was warmer. he nodded when roy told him they did nightly hikes. it was to long after that his food arrived. he was cutting into his lasagna while he watched the server pour more wine into his cup. his glass wasn't that empty was it? [attr=class, bulk] Despite the age difference between himself and his date, Roy found himself enjoying every precious second. There was something about Harvey's attitude which made him a pleasant partner for the event. Compared to the stick-in-the-muds or no-shows he could have been paired with, the blue-haired man was a marvellous choice. Rather than a boring evening of information gathering, the green-haired boogeyman could genuinely enjoy an evening of leisure. Their conversations showed compatibility and a connection between, therefore, benefits existed.
[break][break]
Should he be unable to persuade the handsome young man into his bed or a hotel room, there could be a viable friendship. The matter was simply which he desired... A positive relationship not sullied by dirty deeds or the pleasure of having somebody for an evening of entertainment? For Roy, the decision was a difficult one to make. Conversing with Harvey proved to be a breath of fresh air, however, he was always a lustful man... The soft laugh echoed from Harvey's mouth as he provided a compliment on the choice of alcohol; it was a light-weight drink in Roy's opinion.
[break][break]
The boogeyman's position somewhat straightened, left hand balling into a fist while the right draped over it. His chin hovered higher as he favoured Harvey with a charmer's smile. Before he could speak, the man proceeded to mention Roy picking his next drink... Oh, this one was really enjoying his company.
[break][break]
"I would be glad to," he answered, cheer in his voice. "Maybe next time we could consider a bar scene?"
[break][break]
Friendship was proving to become a better route... Already, his companion enjoyed his presence, therefore, it could potentially become a smoother persuasion in the future... A friend with benefits situation mayhaps? The circumstance would be acceptable to the libidinous boogeyman and he began aiming for it. The waiter appeared, lasagna talented perched above his fingers while his other hand clenched the wine bottle. He served Harvey his food, to which the man began eating right away, before refilling their wine glasses.
[break][break]
Only a small portion of Roy's was consumed, however, a complaint would not be registered. The wine tasted excellent, motivating him to greedily take more.

that sounded desperate didn't it. of course he would be over thinking this. he shouldn't though, roy had been nothing, but nice. honestly though, he really though the wine that roy had picked was pretty good. had had taken another sip of his drink. he smiled at roy's words."really?"it surprised him to be honest."that would be fun."he agreed with a nod."do you have a favorite place?"how many bars were around here? he wouldn't know that off the top of his head. maybe there was one that was a bit better than the rest.
he didn't even have the chance to refuse more wine. the fork was already in his mouth as their glasses were refilled. it was fine, just because it was refilled didn't mean he had to drink all of it. though honestly he probably would. it wasn't as bitter as he was expecting it to taste. it was sweet. his food smelled amazing and honestly it had been awhile since he had last eaten. setting the fork down and wiping his hands he pulled out his phone. he figured if this whole, him trying drinks thing was going to happen they should at least keep in contact right?"can i have your number? that when you are free i can just meet up with to get those drink."he told him with a smile as he handed his phone to roy. [attr=class, bulk] Everything was progressing smoothly in Roy’s books. It appeared Harvey was showing an attachment based on the words and plans already being arranged. Perfection, it demonstrated itself here and assured the boogeyman of the rewards laid in his future. Although, he hoped his date held no plans of finding someone to settle down with. Through the years, the green-haired man failed to settle down with anybody. He was enthralled in the world of meaningless flings and the spice of deception from his informant occupation.
[break][break]
For years it infatuated him, a majority of desperate souls unable to break those bonds. After his betrayal, it became his way, the method to earn a living while implementing skills he favoured. Survival was important and Roy adapted by discovering these deceptive methods and being unsettled by the chains of a relationship. His agreement to the second date agreement appeared to satisfy his young date. Already he requested arrangements for their enjoyable eve at a bar to sample a variety of alcoholic beverages.
[break][break]
"Well, around Lorsette the Golden Crown is popular, so how about it?"
[break][break]
The suggestion was soaked in honey as it purred from Roy's lips. He wanted his date to feel welcomed to the idea of a follow-up date before considering anything lustful with the young man. Friends with benefits, it was the preferred relationship Roy sought. He watched Harvey consume the lasagna without bother to the appetite, rather, he took a light sip of wine. The taste was admired, the bitterness mingling in with the wondrous fruity sweetness, captivating. Although, his mind abandoned thoughts of taste when Harvey mentioned getting his phone number. The boogeyman smiled at him, taking the phone.
[break][break]
"Certainly," he answered while bringing out his phone.
[break][break]
Through his phone, he scrolled until finding his number. Afterwards, he began adding the contact to Harvey's phone with a quick-paced tap of his thumbs. When completed, he texted himself, reciprocating the action. Once finished, he handed the blue-haired man his phone back, please to have his number.

whether or not they were actually going to meet up would be determined. trying another drink or two seemed rather harmless. if anything else they could be friends. they seemed to get along pretty well. or maybe it was just harvey's wishful thinking. he didn't actually think he would be leaving here with a relationship. those things took time. again, he wasn't actively looking for that right now. a date now and again wouldn't hurt."sure, that's fine with me."harvey told him with smile before eating another bite of his lasagna.
he knew of the place, couldn't really say that he stopped by there too much. at least he knew where it was."just let me know when you're free."he wasn't going to pressure roy into showing up. he wasn't that desperate and he hoped he didn't come off that way. besides he was sure being a private investigator took up a lot of his time. if there was a next time he would probably have come up with a different topic of conversation. after all one could only talk about camping for so long.
he smiled agreeing to give harvey his phone number. how else would they get a hold of each other. he handed roy his phone and watched as he added his number while he continued to eat. now that he had the delicious food in front of him he wasn't as worried about eating while roy had no food. the kid had been a tad hungry after all. roy returned harvey his phone."thanks."he said before taking another drink. [attr=class, bulk] Casually, Roy delicately lifted the elegant wine glass to his lips to enjoy another sip of the bitter concoction. The man's violet eyes observed Harvey as the man proved to be fancying the food served to him. A playful smile danced across Roy's lips as he slowly leaned back, regarding his date with an expression void of judgement. He never knew the ravenous hunger that arrived with proper food consumption, but whenever Roy hungered he gleefully began frightening people. An illusion of a spider there or a sudden presence here, he fed on it all.
[break][break]
Arrangements proceeded for future interactions with Harvey, an easy accomplishment given the man's recent discovery of enjoying alcohol. The option of when was placed into Roy's hands, much to his surprise. Nonetheless, he kept his astonishment hidden beneath a cool facade while deciphering if his initial reading of Harvey was incorrect. In some instances, the blue-haired man came off as desperate, but regularly an individual searching for the affections of another individual was hasty to create plans. It was an odd scenario, alas, not one Roy would verbally question.
[break][break]
"I will let you know through text," he informed as numbers were exchanged. "Although I warn, I like the hard liquor."
[break][break]
A chuckle punctuated Roy's words as he mentioned his preference for hard liquor. The numbers were smoothly exchanged for easy messaging. Through Roy completing the exchange, his date for the evening joyously consumed his lasagna, only ceasing to take his phone back and give thanks. In response, the green-haired man nodded at Harvey.

as time went on harvey was starting to feel less nervous. he wasn't sure if it was because of the wine or because he was currently stuffing his face. it wasn't like he was eating super fast or like the only thing he was paying attention to was the plate in front of him. the wine seemed to taste a bit better now that he had actual food. did they compliment each other? is this what people meant when they paired certain foods with certain drinks.
he wiped his mouth before taking another drink. nodding at roy's words. letting him know when this bar adventure would take place. he looked at roy curiously."are you planning to do shots or something?"he said with a small laugh."well, trying something once shouldn't hurt."harvey said a slight shrug. he had planned on trying a few different drinks and not getting completely wasted. clearly he had no idea what he was getting himself into. he would find out how different wine and hard liquor would be."do you have a favorite drink?"
