Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Hiroko had moved to Aria Village after Carmine had been transferred. The AP had agreed to allow her to follow because she was to persuade him to join, little did they know that she was still sending reports off to the TRS regarding Carmine's escape. She had met Lilliana upon arrival in Aria Village and they had plotted together on how they'd go about Carmine's escape. Shortly after becoming pregnant, Lilliana felt wary about continuing to spy on the AP. However she hadn't found another person as skillful as herself to continue it and had forced herself to stay. It had taken a bit to build trust but as soon as it was accomplished, Hiroko had agreed to assist Lilliana with her escape on one condition. She'd have to take Carmine out with her and accept the fall.
Hiroko knew that it was a high price to pay, especially because Lilliana was pregnant, but it was the only way for both of them to get what they wanted in the long run. Hiroko had walked down the hall, having already sent the signal for the rescue to commence, leaving Lilliana so that there would be no connection between them as this plan started to unfold. Hiroko turned down the hallway before heading towards the cells, noticing the guards had Carmine all ready for her, she took him off of their hands, waiting for them to leave them alone so that he could be questioned as she had been. It was normal for them to do this, since AP believed she was attempting to persuade him into joining them.

Imprisoned in the confines of an Assembly dungeon cell, Carmine endured every day of torment, praying to Enki for freedom to arrive. The squalid conditions of his cell displayed negative feedback from the Assembly of Phantoms. Failure to accomplish their task arrived with a hefty burden. His skin was coated in thick, black dirt which furthered stained his clothes. Mingled into the filth was red from the cuts he received by being wrestled to the floor and abused by his captors. Beneath the dirt was bruised skin because of the nasty manner his captors treated him.
[break][break]
The thick, heavy collar around his neck shocked him whenever his behaviours were ill-favourable in the opinion of the Assembly. Thus, redness covered the skin beneath his collar, redness from broken skin gracing the flesh under the collar. The outside world beyond his cell was an unknown factor, but something he wished to become acquainted with. He missed his boyfriend, wished for the warm embrace of the man he loved and appreciated. He hoped the attractive blond still loved him and wanted to rekindle their relationship.
[break][break]
Quietly, Carmine sat on the stone floors of his dungeon as he patiently waited for freedom. Footsteps echoed through the hallways, slipping through the cracks of the door. There stood a group of soldiers, the group marching inside, one holding handcuffs. Two of the soldiers grabbed his arms, the dishevelled man squirming slightly as they forced handcuffs over his wrist. They were preparing him for interaction with Hiroko, assuring he would be unable to escape. Despite recognizing the patterns, Carmine proceeded to squirm.
[break][break]
While he loved his twin sister, the merman knew they needed to avoid showing association, therefore, he struggled. The soldiers were prompted to tighten their grip.
[break][break]
"Why do you even bother? You won't get out," one of the soldiers growled in a low voice.
[break][break]
The purple-haired man side glanced at the soldier, providing a glare as he struggled against the pair's grips. Unfortunately, improper nutrition combined with the circumstances of his confinement made Carmine weaker than his captors. A click resonated through the cell as the handcuffs were slapped onto the purple-haired man's wrists. The chain was unhooked from the wall, the guard yanking it and causing Carmine to stumble sideways.
[break][break]
"You should be happy, you get to visit your sister," the guard grumble.
[break][break]
The merman was pulled forward as he stumbled forward, slowly moving behind the guards. There was a glare placed on Carmine's countenance as he was forced him to wait for Hiroko's arrival.
[break][break]
"Not when she joins you," Carmine responded in a low growl.
[break][break]
The reality of the situation was different than being displayed since the dishevelled man knew his sister's goals were to release him. Abruptly, the guard yanked the chain, destroying balance as Carmine stumbled, falling hard to the floor as the other guards released his arms. The merman resisted the urge to swear beneath his breath, however, there was hardly time to ponder anything. The chain was yanked, pulling Carmine to his feet, a cough leaving his mouth from the sudden choking sensation. Hands wrapped around his arms, balancing him after the guard's "game".
[break][break]
"You shouldn't be complaining about the Assembly of Phantoms being so generous to you," the guard holding the chain began. "You should be honoured that we want you to be apart of our wonderful organization."
[break][break]
The purple-haired man remained silent, merely breathing as they waited for Hiroko's arrival. When the short-haired woman entered the cell, one of the guards handed Carmine's "leash" to her before the group exited, leaving the informant in charge of the man. The procedures were followed, the merman receiving limited time to leave his cell under the assistance of the Assembly. There were actions they were required to take, such as binding his hands with handcuffs and providing Hiroko with the means to make him comply should he be unruly.
[break][break]
Fortunately, Carmine found a veil of safety wrapping around him after the preparations to place him in Hiroko's persuasion arrived. Compared to the guards and other members, Hiroko was considerably more merciful, both from her true intentions and their sibling bond. Complete trust was placed in his twins as the guards left, leaving the persuasion attempts to the short-haired woman. Patiently, Carmine waited for Hiroko to begin the conversation, completely unaware of the circumstances about to unfold.
Hiroko took the leash from the guard, waiting for them to leave. As soon as they were alone she reached out to hug Carmine. "The day has finally arrived." She whispered before pulling away. Since they were alone, she took the time to sing him a hymn so that his injuries would become healed. They are going to pay for harming my baby brother. She thought to herself, concluding her song as she reached out to free him of the collar, leaving it on so that it would appear as if he were still wearing it. She also unlocked the handcuffs, making freedom for Carmine one step closer before hiding the remote on him so that he'd be able to avoid anymore shockings from those bastards.
"Are you ready to join AP?" She questioned out loud, in case anybody was nearby listening. "Everything is going according to plan. I really wish I had been here sooner. I'm so sorry." She whispered to Carmine as she found herself pinged with guilt. If it wasn't the fact he was kidnapped in the first place, it was the fact it took her so long to gain AP's trust so that she'd be able to plan this far ahead to save her brother from their clutches. "You'll be okay." She whispered, slowly reaching out to touch his cheek, knowing she'd miss this feeling as soon as he was free from here.

The leash was grasped in Hiroko’s hands, however, Carmine could not cease the illusion of being tense. There were dangers towards both of them because of lurking threats amidst the Assembly of Phantoms. Fortunately, the merman knew his safety would be confirmed for the time throughout his visit with Hiroko. When the guards rounded the corner, Carmine's body settled into an eased position. Suddenly, arms wrapped around Carmine, astonishment shifting onto his face when his prayers for a saviour could finally be answered.
[break][break]
When Hiroko pulled away, the purple-haired man mouthing 'thank you' after hearing her words. An entire year of horrifying torture would be ended today because of his sister's courageous actions. The hymn reached his ears, wounds healing over beneath the darkened smudges of his filthy skin. The healing hymn restored the damages, pain being alleviated from the sang words of his sister. As the song concluded, Hiroko reached, unlocking the shock collar, the remote being hidden on his body to avoid further shocking by the hands of the Assembly.
[break][break]
The handcuffs were unlocked, wrists rubbed softly because of his fresh freedom. He listened to the question, knowing Hiroko was acting for their safety.
[break][break]
"Never," he growled back.
[break][break]
He was willing to play along with the idea of being a prisoner until he escaped the clutches of Ivory Fortress. Whispered words were spoken, Carmine listening to every letter which left Hiroko's mouth carefully. A frown dropped onto his face when Hiroko apologized, touching his cheek as she stated he would be alright. His hand reached up, fingers curling around her hand. A soft smile graced his lips as he looked at the older twin.
[break][break]
"Don't apologize... Thank you, Hiroko," he whispered in return.
[break][break]
Silence reigned as Carmine waited for the following instructions. Escape would arrive shortly, a relief for the hardened prisoner. While new challenges would arrive with his release, he welcomed the notion for sweet freedom was all he desired.
Hiroko had hugged Carmine as soon as the guards had left them be. She then started a hymn to heal him, not wishing for her brother to die from the torture he had endured up to this point. She then proceeded to unlock his shock collar, hiding the remote on his body before unlocking the handcuffs. She asked her question, pretending to be on AP's side, listening as Carmine gave his answer. It won't be long now. She thought to herself, as she prepared for the next course of action. She apologized, touching his cheek as guilt consumed her on how long it had taken for him to become free. Had he never been kidnapped in the first place, she knew she would feel this regret of failure to protect him till the end of her days.
Of course AP was going to pay for the hell they had placed on their family. She was never going to forgive them, revenge would be hers. She melted when his hand had reached up to touch hers before, having a smile on his lips, whispering his answer in return to her. "You'll be met with a beauty who shines in the darkness. When that moment comes, you'll know what to do." She whispered before playfully adding, "Trust me, trust her, freedom shall be yours. I love you Carmine." She would whisper before adding, "I'll see you around." She would pull away from Carmine, awaiting for the guards to come back. She'd then leave him in their care as she exited to head back down the hall. It wouldn't be long before a knew visitor was in wait for Carmine.
Lilliana had waited for the signal from Hiroko, after already having an idea of what time this would all take place. It was up to her to get Carmine out of the prison and back towards Lorsette. Guards had started to make their way back towards the prison, since Hiroko always had a set time of when she would part ways with Carmine after supposedly attempting to persuade him into joining AP. The clock was ticking and she took her time in heading in the direction of the prison, wanting to give Hiroko enough time to gain distance so that she wouldn't be viewed as the traitor who freed her brother. As soon as the time was up, she walked towards the prison with scenarios on how she would go about breaking Carmine out. One was if the guards left, she would just free him and assist with his escape for as long as possible. The second was if the guards remained, she would be forced to attack them before freeing Carmine. Either outcome would prove her as a traitor, of course the only reason why she had taken Hiroko's supposed assistance in the first place was because the spying would continue on and she knew that they'd likely make it out alive.
She wasn't completely convinced that freedom would be hers without the risk of her baby if she didn't have assistance in betraying AP. Assisting with Carmine's freedom wasn't that big of a deal to her, since she was after all expecting a child on the way and the importance behind family couldn't compare to her life. As soon as she walked into the prison, she was met with the guards, as she had expected. Alright. Here we go. She thought to herself before giving an explanation to why she was here. "I'm here to watch him." She answered, waiting for them to either stay or leave.

Freshly healed and provided affection from Hiroko, Carmine found his hopes gaining power as he stood tall. Finally freedom's welcoming hand arrived to the merman's door. The injuries he received were mended, the blood and filth remaining on his skin, however, he would worry about cleaning later. First responsibility was listening to Hiroko's instructions and escaping the Ivory Fortress without being recaptured or severely injured. Slowly, the long-haired man's amber eyes glanced down at his hands as a realization dawned upon him.
[break][break]
The merman turned, slowly manipulating two drops of water from his drinking bucket. A broad smile stretched across his face as he brought the liquid closer. He stared at the droplets with child-like excitement over being capable of manipulating water again. He mourned the loss of the ability, thus its return inspired endless happiness. As he gazed at Hiroko, anybody could notice the grateful countenance on his face. Whispered words were shortly uttered in his ear, the mention of a beauty bringing Carmine's thoughts to Riah.
[break][break]
Was he here? Did he travel with Hiroko from Russia to Canada to rescue him? The thought made his heart thump rapidly inside his chest. Alas, those beliefs were broken by the simple pronoun her. The merman face dropped slightly, a smile still present, but his heart calmed. If his precious boyfriend was not present, then it meant the attractive blond was safe. A complaint could not be registered with the notion of Riah being safe. He smiled at Hiroko's words, ever thankful for his sister's bravery.
[break][break]
"I love you too," he whispered in return. "Be safe."
[break][break]
Feelings of familial love were reciprocated, Carmine silently watching Hiroko disappear into the darkness beyond his cell. There were duties his sister needed to perform, thus the merman remained silent. Steps were taken backwards, the long-haired man standing beside his water bucket. If something went wrong, he needed to protect himself from the dangers beyond his cell. He refused to be locked away again, to undergo further torture because of the twisted game the Assembly wished to play. The merman waited silently for the arrival of a radiant beauty.
[break][break]
Noise existed beyond the cell, a feminine voice stating her shift was here. The guard outside had been working overtime, thus he gave a simple nod before yawning and taking his leave. Quietly, Carmine remained in his cell, listening and waiting for his rescue.
Lilliana watched the guard yawn before leaving without further compliant. That was easier than I thought. She thought to herself before moving towards the cell door to peek inside. She had taken notice of Carmine being near his water bucket, this would be fine since if he were to attack her, it would look as if she weren't trying to free him right away. Plus water would be nothing to her, since her enhanced durability and pain suppression would assist in the matter. She walked closer to him, appearing to have a straight face as she made her way closer and closer. She knew prisoners had no reason to trust AP members, she was counting on him not, it wasn't like Hiroko told him that she would be the one to assist with his break out. As soon as she became in earshot, she'd whisper, "You'll be met with a beauty who shines in the darkness. When that moment comes, you'll know what to do." She'd pause for a moment, allowing the words to sink in.
"Alright, so here is what we're going to do. You're going to keep this shock collar on so it looks like I'm transporting you, your wrists must stay still else the handcuffs will fall off. Feel free to toss the remote when the shock collar has been removed, if possible my goal is to get you out of here but I'll for sure be leading you to the saviors Hiroko has set up for you." She whispered before moving to reach out to touch his arm gently. "Now come quietly, your destiny awaits." She whispered before attempting to tug him out of the cell. No sooner had she finally gotten him out of the cell, footsteps could be heard in the distance. She continued walking forward as she made her way out of the prison block and towards the hall to meet up with some guards that were preparing to take on their shift. "I got permission to transport this prisoner for torture.
Maybe then he'll join us like his sister had." She answered, watching their wary looks turn to a smug grin before they were waved before proceeding down the hall. That was close. She thought to herself before looking back towards Carmine to see what his face expression looked like. She would then proceed to look forward again, the sooner she got Carmine out of here, the sooner she would also be home free. Hiroko, did you know those guards were going to be walking down the hall at this time? I sure hope the rest of this escape plan of yours goes smoothly, at the very least till I meet up with one of the saviors you had mentioned having for him. She thought to herself, pausing when she heard the alarms going off. Awww shit, now what the hell is going on? She thought to herself, believing this had just become harder.
Uriah had known what the plan was from the get go, the only problem was, he was feeling really impatient and vengeful. They had taken his Carmine away from him and had killed him in the process. So not only had he failed to keep Carmine safe but he couldn't even survive long enough to save his Carmine prior to his death. He was grateful that Hiroko had found him and taken care of him so that he could get up and onto his feet. A day never had gone by where he missed his darling Carmine, wishing that he had done better in keeping him safe. The signal had come for them to move in and he had joined the rest of the saviors in doing so. Of course after some planning, they had infiltrated the AP HQ. It was by this point, his impatience really took over and he found himself rushing in ahead. The sooner he made it to the prison block, the sooner he could find his Carmine and take him out of this place. AP members had seen him advancing and chose to try and capture him, they were met with the resistance as fought back. Some AP members fell and he stole their sword and started slaughtering the lot right in front of him. As soon as no more AP members were in his way, he continued down towards the prison block.
The alarm was blaring in his ears, he tried ignoring it as he continues pressing on being met with a few more AP members. He wasn't aware that Carmine was already out of the cell, just down the hall from where he was staying. He continuing slashing at the AP member, struggling to keep up with this fight because he was becoming tired from using up so much of his energy already. He rounded a corner, unaware it was in the direction that his beloved Carmine was at with Lilliana. More AP members showed up and surrounded him. He kept slashing, getting a few down before somebody had grabbed hold of his arms and next thing he knew, liquid lead had met contact with his eyes. He dropped the sword, screaming in pain because he couldn't see.

Seconds ticked by, anxieties consuming Carmine's mind. The merman's body displayed a tense nature as he steeled himself for possible injury or worse. Today, he was promised to escape and he was determined to achieve that or meet the misfortunes of death; returning to his torturous prisoner's life was not an option. The possibility of being re-captured frightened Carmine after the abhorrent experiences given to him. He waited next to the water bucket, calloused feet hardly feeling the stone beneath the bottoms of his feet.
[break][break]
He listened to the noises beyond his cell, hearing the previous guard leave before being replaced with a female one. A creak echoed through the cell as the door opened, a woman standing in the threshold. Eyes widened subtly, his heart fluttering in fear as he prepared to defend himself. The woman was an Assembly soldier, somebody who could realize he was unlocked and confine him back to hell. Water lifted from the bucket, the merman preparing to defend himself until the bitter end.
[break][break]
His back pressed against the cold, rough wall, water flowing in front of him, each manipulation an attempt to remain quiet in hopes of quietly disposing or knocking the woman unconscious. Steps brought her closer, the redheaded girl clearly unconcerned about his abilities working now. The merman prepared to attack, however, whispered words reached his ears, ones which matched his sister’s. His eyes widened, locking onto the mysterious woman, heart calming as he slowed his breathing.
[break][break]
Slowly, Carmine returned the water back into the bucket, attempting to be silent. Escape remained a possibility with the arrival of assistance.
[break][break]
“You’re... going to help me?” He whispered in return. “Thank you so much.”
[break][break]
The merman eased slightly, however, Carmine forced himself to remain tense. Other Assembly members would grow suspicious if they saw him relaxed around an Assembly soldier. Things were adjusted, Carmine willingly, albeit, nervously allowing the mysterious woman to accomplish what was needed. Silently, he listened to the instructions, nodding in acknowledgement to prove he understood the information she fed him.
[break][break]
When requested to come quietly, Carmine listened to the command. The purple-haired man kept his hands a reasonable distance apart, keeping them still. Meanwhile, the man’s countenance shifted into a feigned expression. Anger mixing with annoyance painted his face, however, he displayed no signs of mass struggling. He prayed the guards would think after experiencing his earlier altercation, he merely wished to avoid further torment.
[break][break]
Together, the pair exited the cell, the redhead masquerading as a prison guard intending to escort Carmine elsewhere. As they escaped through the front door, guards providing wary expressions, eyes locked onto the pair. Fortunately, his assistance seemed prepared as she explained he would be taken for torture. The merman visibly flinched at merely imagining the torture which would occur in a delegated room for that purpose.
[break][break]
The Assembly of Phantoms harmed him throughout his year imprisoned by them. Thus intention harm to inflict optimal pain frightened him. As they proceeded down the hallway, the abrupt sounds of alarms echoed through the hallway. The purple-haired merman’s head glanced up, looking around the dungeon. Guards were moving, commands were shouted and people organized while they stood. Would the escape still move forward? He prayed they would…
[break][break]
Abruptly, the noises of fighting reached Carmine’s ears as he glanced over around, finally noticing a familiar face to his left. A blonde man with long locks of hair, brilliant blue eyes and a strong physique was slaying Assembly members. The merman’s eyes widened as he recognized Uriah, his heart palpitating from merely seeing his magnificent boyfriend again. He came all this way to rescue him? The merman resisted the urge to smile, however, it was easy as he watched the following actions unfold.
[break][break]
Suddenly, Uriah's arms was pulled back, a liquid being poured into his boyfriend's eyes. Phantom pain flared in Carmine's eyes as they widened. FUCK THE PLAN! Immediately, the purple-haired man pulled away hard from Lilliana's grip, handcuff's being thrown off as he sprinted towards the blond.
[break][break]
"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HIM!" Carmine screamed.
[break][break]
Water was manipulated from the nearby buckets, the motions of water manipulation happening naturally. The water transformed into sharp "blades", closing in on the Assembly member's neck. Death arrived quickly, the Assembly member toppling. Several strands of water were used to dispose of the nearby guards. Quickly, he approached Uriah, grabbing his shoulders and using his hands to guide him to look down.
[break][break]
"It will be okay, Riah! I will help you!" There was panic in Carmine's voice as he spoke.
[break][break]
Water was fetched from another bucket, Carmine using the liquid to manipulate the led out of Uriah's eyes. The worried merman stared at his boyfriend, eyes wetting with tears. He did not want a knight in shining armor if it meant Uriah would be harmed... It was upsetting. The surroundings were ignored as he worried about his dearest lover.
Lilliana wasn't surprised when Carmine was on his guard, this would work perfectly even if he chose to attack her. She knew she'd be able to take the hit and it could look like she wasn't assisting him out. Of course the easiest route would be for him to remain patient and he proved so by not attacking her, just for her to speak to him in a whisper. She would nod her head in reply, choosing silence as their best course of action at this time. If it wasn't clear she was truly here to help him escape, it would become clear as she assisted with leading him out of the prison and down the hall. They were met with some guards, who believed her lies and let them be. Proceeding down the hall to continue on with their business. Right when she thought they were in the clear, the alarms had gone off.
There was a noise coming from down the hall. Sounded like some fighting going on. Uriah retreated down the hall they were stationed in as he attacked more AP, clearly making a path for their escape. She couldn't help but believe him to be one of the saviors that Hiroko had mentioned, but where was the rest of the group, surely Uriah hadn't come in here all alone? She stood there, watching, disbelief as the fighting unfolded in front of her. When Uriah was grabbed, she debated on how she would go about assisting him and keeping Carmine out of harms way. Haven taken too long on her choices, she watched in surprise when Carmine had pulled away from her and rescued Uriah. Carmine killed the AP members swiftly as he attempted to help Uriah. More AP were arriving, having noticed Uriah being helped by Carmine.
Slowly she moved to step forward, "Sorry boys, you'll have to get past me first." She answered, moving to take the sword Uriah had dropped on the ground to fight the AP members. She hoped fighting them off would give Carmine enough time to help Uriah with his injuries before assisting them both out of here. As soon as Carmine finished, her plan was for them to press on, little did she expect that she'd be forced to carry a soon unconscious Uriah.
Uriah had been captured by the AP, eyes being damaged by the liquid lead. A voice had been heard in the distance as he was freed from the grip of the AP member, finding himself still looking up at the ceiling. Carmine had grabbed his shoulders, guiding him to look down. He was quick to notice that he couldn't see. "Carmine..." He mumbled, "I"m sorry.... so sorry I didn't save you that day...." He thought to himself, able to hear a noise in the background. A woman, unaware her name was Lilliana. He had noticed she didn't sound like Hiroko and yet it sounded like she was on their side. While Lilliana kept AP away from them, Carmine tended to his wounds. Slowly he reached out, unable to find the sword he had stolen earlier. Darkness, seemed to overcome him. Eyes were damaged beyond repair. Something was being draped over his eyes, most likely to bandage him up as much as possible when the water couldn't assist anymore. He found himself drifting off, until he went unconscious.

Panic sped through Carmine's veins as held Uriah close, carefully manipulating the liquid led from those brilliant blue eyes. He worried about the potential damages accomplished to his boyfriend's beautiful eyes. Nobody's knight in shining armour got injured in the fairy tales, however, in reality, the possibility always existed. Rapidly, Carmine's heart thumped against his sternum as he fretted over his boyfriend's current condition. Water dragged out led from those magnificent eyes, the liquids mixing together on the stony floor of the dungeon.
[break][break]
There was still plenty to clean from Uriah's eyes, however, soldiers were closing in on their present location. The merman tensed until his ears managed to hear the familiar voice of the redheaded woman who was assisting in his escape. She prepared to play defense by standing between the soldiers and him and Uriah. The purple-haired man provided her a mental thanks before focusing his efforts back on cleaning Uriah's eyes. More water was gathered and hastily rushed over his boyfriend's eyes, dragging out more led.
[break][break]
Words escaped those delicate lips, a frown stretching on Carmine's face when Uriah apologized for failing to rescue him. Instinctively, he shook his head no at the sheer idea of his handsome boyfriend being to blame for his capture.
[break][break]
"It's not your fault Riah... I shouldn't have gone out. I'm so sorry," he murmured. "Don't you ever blame yourself for that."
[break][break]
When satisfied with the cleaning, Carmine manipulated more water to cleanse a section of his clothing before ripping off a longer piece of cloth. He wrapped it around Uriah's injured eyes, assuring further damage could not be done. His boyfriend's consciousness was waning and eventually, the large man slumped over, unconscious. Concerns flooded Carmine's mind as he held Uriah close to him.
[break][break]
"Riah?! RIAH?!" The merman called his boyfriend's name desperately.
[break][break]
The blond was still breathing, however, it failed to cease the endless worrying venturing through Carmine's mind. The weakened prisoner held Uriah closely, attempting to lift him. Unfortunately, his strength had dwindled from a year of being locked in a cell and receiving malnourished foods.
Lilliana was busy fighting off AP members, to notice Carmine's treatment methods towards Uriah. She just finished killing off the AP that had been attacking her when she had glanced behind to hear Carmine shouting. She swiftly moved towards him, reaching out to carefully pick Uriah up. "This is what we need to do, you need to help me get him on my back, I'll use enhanced strength to carry him out. You'll have to use this sword to defend us because I won't be able to do both, with any luck we'll run into the others and it will become easier to get the both of you out of this place." She whispered, counting on Carmine to listen to her because the sooner he did so, the sooner they could get a move on of leaving this place or at the very least joining up with the others. From what she had noticed or hoped, he had likely gone off ahead, they were in dire need of assistance and she hoped in the back of her mind that others would arrive shortly, but if not, hopefully they would at the very least be near the exit instead of all the way in here.

Desperation filled Carmine as he struggled to lift his muscular boyfriend from the ground. Tears were welling, heating his cheeks, turning them red and making them swell. Through his captivity, the idea of returning to Uriah maintained endless happiness for him. While difficulties existed during his captivity, thoughts of his soulmate managed to sooth and motivate him.

Inside his chest, Carmine’s heart palpitated with endless worry for his dearest boyfriend. There was an emptiness consuming his core as he failed to assist the blond. Frustration mingled with concern as he tried harder, praying to save the man who made him feel special. How could he allow this to happen?! One of the people he cared about most was injured because of his idoitic decisions. On that evening, he left the safety of their room and managed to get himself captured. He disobeyed the protocols they created for their safety and now he witnessed the consequences.

The long-haired man was distracted by his concerns, thus he failed to detect Lilliana’s footsteps as she finished defeating the guards. The amber-eyed merman noticed her slender hand reach for his boyfriend, her words reaching his ears as a plan was devised. Briefly, he looked between her and the blond captured in his arms. A sigh breezed through his lips as he adjusted Uriah, holding him with a single hand. He grabbed the withered sleeve of his clothing, wiping off the tears as he nodded in agreement to Lilliana’s plan.

“Sorry... I’m just worried,” he mumbled out, congestion conquering his mouth.

Afterwards, he began assisting Lilliana in getting Uriah onto her back. From behind, he pushed him up, guiding the unconscious man onto the dragon’s back. He moved Uriah’s arms to drape over the redhead’s shoulders after she managed to get a grip. His boyfriend seemed prepared for the journey through the Assembly base, placed carefully on the woman’s back. Slowly, Carmine reached for the sword, fingers naturally curling around the handle. It reminded him of the sword he originally had, muscle memory activating as he remembered the movements necessary.

Another gentle sigh escaped his lips as he turned towards the hallway Lilliana and him were originally travelling down. The merman’s knuckles turned white as he squeezed the sword’s handle. He strode forward, eyes watching carefully as he prepared to protect his boyfriend and Lilliana against the vicious Assembly of Phantoms. He moved slowly, attempting to avoid altercations as they moved towards the stairs.
