Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

There were a variety of things Seth managed to accomplish as a freelancer. Tasks consisted of repairs, painting and landscaping, but the dragon occasionally accomplished other small scale requirements for people. Carrying in groceries for older ladies, shovel snow, picking up items for people or anything of the sort on the behalf of others. Through these pleasant actions he gained connections and precious moments where loneliness would be staved. Accomplishing these tasks rescued him from days spent in a tiny apartment by his lonesome...
[break][break]
Anything he could grasp for occupation was welcomed in hopes of fixating on other topics. By mentioning his freelancing career, the young, purple-haired woman requested his business card despite potentially not having many jobs for him. The brown-haired dragon shrugged at Madelyn, not minding should there be a lack of jobs for him. The more clients, the higher likelihood of Seth receiving jobs to support himself and act as distractions. The books were pushed against his chest with his left arm while the right hand dipped into his jean pocket to hand over the business cards he regularly carried with him.
[break][break]
"I do not mind if there is not much to do, I just appreciate having a job to do," Seth explained with a soft smile.
[break][break]
When questioned in regards to his enjoyment, Seth grinned at him and nodded at the inquiry. Freelancing was something the dragon discovered a passion in. He found happiness in assisting others, therefore, the brunette was prepared to offer his services to others.
[break][break]
"I like helping people," he informed her in a simple sentence.
[break][break]
Their conversation delved into the concept of occupations as Madelyn shared her's. The soft woman held a gentleness that made her flowers associated occupation sensible. Based on appearance, the purple-haired woman seemed like an individual who would enjoy those beautiful plants. He nodded at her offer, a soft smile touching his face. Regularly, he merely listened to people and occasionally provided his words, but he enjoyed a pleasant interaction sometimes.
[break][break]
"Do you just do bouquets or do you sell flowers to plant as well? I do landscaping and help with gardening sometimes, so maybe I could suggest your business," the dragon offered her.
[break][break]
The young woman benevolently took his card and offered jobs should something come up, therefore, offering a mutual perk only seemed right. Therefore, suggesting her business and spreading the word was a return of her willingness to assist him.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she knew where she could place his card. there were bulletin boards at both her jobs. so it wouldn't be hard to do a little advertising for him. though now she knew who to call if anything did break at her place. she shifted the books she was carrying to free her arm and take the his business card. she glanced over the card before slipping it into her bag."thanks and you'll be the first one i call."she told him with a smile.
she was curious about working as a freelancer. it sounded interesting enough. then again it wasn't settled on just one thing. seth seemed like he could do just about anything. she smiled at his words when he told why he liked being a freelancer. did that mean he traveled a lot? that would be fun, seeing new places. he seemed like the type to be very helpful. he was quick to let her know that he wasn't one for suggestion book titles, when she had asked for his suggestions in return.
she shook her head slightly before pondering the question."actually i'm not sure. we have a few plants around the store, but i don't see why one couldn't make a big order for something. i just make the arrangements, i don't really deal with big order like that."she said with a laugh."i can totally ask and let you know? or you can stop by whichever is easier for you."she added with a smile. she knew the shop wasn't that big to house large orders, but she was positive it had it's own greenhouse in a different location. so it was quite possible they did or do provide for landscaping businesses.
she shifted her books into her other arm."i think i found enough books for my mom. do you need anymore suggestions before i head up to pay?"

The advantages of interacting with other individuals consisted of new clients, however, Seth was enjoying their conversation. For a few moments, the freelancer discovered comfort that staved the loneliness in his life. A relief from the painful reality of lacking family and friends with additional benefits. It left a soft smile on the dragon's lips as he interacted with the purple-haired girl. It was something quaint, a smile one expected from customer service workers attempting to satisfy a customer, albeit, with less distress.
[break][break]
A nod of response was granted to her mentioning of him being among the first she would call should something break. As anybody attempting to make a living, Seth appreciated the offer handed to him. During the winter, business slowed substantially as people no longer wished for exterior renovations or landscaping. Most of his income during these months received contributions from snow shovelling and grocery runs. It paled in comparison to the amount received for larger projects available in the snowless months.
[break][break]
Lawn mowing, painting, repairs, landscaping along with a variety of other tasks wished upon him went lengths to keep him afloat. He learned that quickly... He nodded as she explained her business; a vague one. She handled the arrangements rather than the large scale orders.
[break][break]
He nodded as he spoke, "I can stop by. Business slows down in the winter for me."
[break][break]
There was always time during the frigid months, unfortunately... Winter was among the worse to ponder the endless emotions of lonesomeness... The suffocation and fear of having nobody there to provide comfort or encouragement... to be forgotten should he disappear... As she mentioned heading to the counter, he shook his head.
[break][break]
"No, thanks for your help," he responded, quieter than before. "Goodbye."
[break][break]
Within a few minutes, the end of their conversation arrived... meaning he would return to the dark abyss of standing beside one's self. There were no other choices. Abrupt outbursts in proclamation to loneliness were hardly welcomed by mere acquaintances. Thus, he bottled it up, stepped aside and warranted her access to head towards the checkout. Meanwhile, his eyes gradually shifted to the shelved books, a sigh breathing through his lips as feelings were shoved away to search for the book he originally intended on purchasing.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she really wasn't in any hurry, but she found enough books to call it good. she was enjoying her conversation with seth. she was glad that she was able to suggestion a couple of books he might be interested in reading. she hoped the owner of the flower shop could help him out with the kinds of plants he wanted. surely they would be able to help.
she hadn't expected to be done with shopping so soon. she was ready to go pay for her things. honestly she thought she'd take just a bit longer in picking out books. she didn't want to leave him hanging, just in case he needed more suggestions. he said he didn't need anymore and despite him saying goodbye. madelyn wondered if this was it."hey, if you're not busy after this. i wouldn't mind showing you the flower shop. like i said it's not too far from here. it's no problem at all."she suggested."and we can get a cup of hot chocolate. there's a little shop near there too. it's so good."she told him with a smile.
did that sound to forward? honestly all she wanted to do was help. she had nothing really planned after this. plus it really was close by."i mean if you want, you totally don't have to."she nodded reassuringly.

He believed everything over because of the framing of their conversation and simply the patterns of his life... Goodbyes were painfully common and frequently permanent... Sometimes, those people never wished to leave his life, like the infamous Victor Maier... his adopted father... The person who genuinely wanted him in his life. Promises of reconnection fell short when Victor never arrived at their meeting place. A separation that broke the earth dragon's heart. His eyes clouded over at the thought of the only person who cared for him.
[break][break]
His fixation on the shelves of books strayed, mind delving into those forbidden thoughts. Thinking about the loneliness of his heart was an illegal action... The depression caused by the churning gears of sorrow ponderance grasped his neck and squeezed; it tightened his throat. Immediately, thoughts were shoved aside as he inhaled a breath of serenity and exhaled it slowly. There was no place for those twisted memories of lonesome sorrow. Luckily, Miss Fortune granted him a gift as the purple-haired woman cut their farewell and instead suggested heading to her place of business.
[break][break]
Ease settled over Seth, his eyes brightening as they locked on Madelyn. The reassuring nodding followed by the providing of an option was appreciated... It was an escape... a way to avoid those overwhelming, obnoxious emotions.
[break][break]
"That sounds wonderful," he answered, accepting the invitation.
[break][break]
For minutes longer he could stave the hungry wolves circling his emotional state. Accepting the invitation meant the inevitable journey towards the checkout. He would search for the other book later. When they approached the front counter, Seth would allow Madelyn to purchase her items first.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she took a chance, not that she wasn't always taking chances. she just knew some people could be a little apprehension on strangers, but it wasn't like she would be taking him to any place weird. if he was busy that was fine. she understood not everyone could do things on a whim. after all she had just thought of it when she was planning to leave. she smiled when she heard his answer."really? great!"she was glad he was able to come along on such short notice.
"are you done looking at books? i don't mind waiting if you want to look some more."she told him with a nod. she could always browse a little more in a different section. she wouldn't mind after all she had sprung this idea on him last minute.
she hadn't meant to cut his browsing short. they neared the checkout and thankfully they were the only ones there. she dropped her items off first and finished the transaction rather quickly. it was only three books. she did rather good if she said so herself. though she would probably still get another small gift to go along with the large books. she gathered her things and stepped out of the way for seth to make his purchase. while she waited. she quickly texted her boss, letting them know that she was stopping by with a visitor.
she slipped her phone back into her pocket and waited for seth. she was excited that he had accepted her little invite. she hoped it worked out. if anyone knew anything about large orders of plants it was her boss. once he was ready, she would lead them to the flower shop.

Relief flooded through the veins of the dragon who consistently suffered from lonesomeness. An opportunity to stave the hungering wolves searching to chomp away at his weaknesses. Those evenings spent in the apartment were always among the worse, especially throughout the work-slow days of winter's freeze. Therefore, he leapt at the chance to escape the inner demons who haunted him during his darkest times. Every minute spent in someone's company was another spared from handling his inner turmoil and abandonment issues.
[break][break]
A plastic smile was returned as a remembrance of his intentions surfaced in the back of his mind. Everything he wished for revolved around escaping the sorrows of his life. They were a constant, malignant force haunting his mind and reminding him of the bad things. How Victor was forced to leave him. How his parents carelessly abandoned him without a second thought. How he struggled to reform those long-lost connections... The wish of escapism from those thoughts motivated him to socialize, but the haunting of another happening of it kept from proper relationships being formed.
[break][break]
When asked about books, the dragon merely shook his head. He craved distractions, however, he wanted to proceed with his interactions between Madelyn. The woman offered him work, precious jobs good for future avoidance of handling one's mental problems. With the exchange, they approached the checkout, Seth waiting patiently behind Madelyn. He observed her pay for her books before accomplishing something similar. Some quick scans, agreeing to want a bag before handing over payment in the form of cash.
[break][break]
Once finished, he turned to the purple-haired woman who recently finished her phone call.
[break][break]
"Ready to go?" Seth asked politely.
[break][break]
When the time arrived to leave, the dragon planned on following Madelyn to the shop. She knew the directions best, thus he planned on placing his trust in her.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she was happy with her purchases, she could of probably looked for more, but the one she had should be enough. still apart from the books she would probably pick up another small item. seth let her pay first and once she was done she moved to the side to wait for him. she quickly gave her boss a heads up. hoping they would be there in the first place. it would be rather pointless to take seth to the flower shop and not have anyone be able to answer their questions.
she smiled as he approached her. his bag of books at his side."i'm ready, if you are."she told him with a nod. she would be the one leading him to the flower shop after all. it really wasn't that too far from where they were at. she slipped her phone back into her bag before heading towards the door. holding the door as she stepped out."it's not too far from here, just a street."she told him as she pointed towards the direction she would be taking him.
she started walking towards the end of the street, making sure that she didn't walk too slow or too fast. it was cold out, but at least it wasn't snowing. which was nice. she liked it when it snowed, but she preferred to be inside with a hot beverage. she did promise him hot chocolate after, so that would be a plus."are you from around here?"she asked trying to fill the silence. after reaching the corner, she pressed the button on the crosswalk."so we take a right, and it's like the third shop down. super easy to find."she told him with a nod. crossing as soon as the light changed.
as she had mentioned before the shop was the third one down. it was a quick walk from the shop they had just been in. she opened the door, once again holding for him to grab or to walk in. once inside she glanced around until she spotted her boss at the counter."we're here."she announced their presence to her boss.

Precious minutes gained through the offer to introduce Seth to the store Madelyn worked at. Lonesomeness could be warded for another few minutes, furthermore, he gained a business relationship from the situation. Then afterwards, he would retreat home and throw himself into some well-needed distractions. Perhaps read one of the many books he freshly purchased or find something else to distract him. Loneliness was great sufferance for the earth dragon, therefore, he found himself hopeful his freshly created acquaintanceship would assist in settling nerves.
[break][break]
The brown-haired dragon attempted a small smile in return to Madelyn's before falling in behind her. Both parties were prepared to begin their venture down to the flower shop where the purple-haired woman worked. Together, they escaped the confines of the small store, Madelyn holding the door open as she exited. The dragon accepted the offer, accomplishing a quick over the shoulder glance to assure more patrons were not exiting. Upon realizing nobody followed behind them, Seth allowed the door to shut behind him.
[break][break]
During his step out, she listened to Madelyn mention the store's location, to which he nodded. As they walked, casual conversation was bound to ensue, the woman initiating with the inquiry of if he was from around Lorsette.
[break][break]
He shook his head. "No, I came from somewhere quite different now. But I have lived in Lorsette long enough to know my way around. Are you from around here?"
[break][break]
The question was asked to impart from curiosity, but also to continue the conversation. As a duo, they walked the sidewalks, crossing a crosswalk and following Madelyn's directions. Eventually, they reached the third shop down as Madelyn described and entered. They entered the store, an individual standing behind the counter, to which the purple-haired woman declared their arrival. Quietly, the dragon glanced around the store, accomplishing an initial inspection of the area.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she smiled and nodded at his question."really that's cool? that's good. born and raised here, so we might of crossed paths before this."it was a pretty decent sized area. it would possible. especially if he was a freelancer, he probably did quite a bit of traveling around here.
there walk to the shop wasn't very long. five minutes at the most. even if she hadn't texted her boss, she doubted they would of been surprised. when on her days off maddie would pop in unexpectedly. especially during the winter months. while seth hung back to check out the place, madelyn approached her boss with a smile. she quickly explained the situation. wondering if they were going to be able to help seth out, plant wise.
she couldn't say yes or no, but she was positive it was something that was completely possible. after all, as far as she knew the flowers and varies plants came from a greenhouse that focused on providing them to the shop. they would receive many orders for bouquets and such. there was always an order to complete. she was still hanging out by the counter."seth, good news. it's totally possible for you to get plants from here."she told him with a smile. while her boss, told him that all he had to do was fill out an order form.

The freelancer nodded when the purple-haired woman mentioned being born and raised in Lorsette. There were plenty of residents in the dangerous city, which always kept Seth curious. People at times appeared to lack disturbance to the crimes in Lorsette, however, some thrived on the attention from it. Plenty of work for action-hungry people, although, he never understood how occupations such as florists decided to stay. Although he could hardly speak on the topic, he was a freelancer wandering the large city after all.
[break][break]
Upon entering the floral shop, the calming scents of flowers filled Seth's nose. Soft and fragrant as he inhaled the warmer air of the small shop. While Madelyn moved to converse with her boss, the dragon quietly wandered. His brown eyes scanned over the gorgeous flowers, admiring the colourful array before him. Their delicate petals enriched with vibrancy and gentle beauty. He could always enjoy a quick browse at flowers, particularly his landscaping side. The plants within the flower shop all appeared healthy, a delightful sight for a searching mass buyer.
[break][break]
Moments later he listened to the sounds of approaching steps, prompting Seth to turn. The purple-haired woman approached, informing him of the marvellous news. A small smile touched his lips as he looked at Madelyn.
[break][break]
"Thank you, I will make sure to do that then. Once spring comes that is," he told her.
[break][break]
There was a soft neutral-nature to his tone which disguises his possible disdain for the upcoming separation. He never enjoyed being alone, and he doubted he ever would. If anything, he would stay around people for the whole of his day to maintain a sense of belonging and happiness.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
she hadn't meant to leave seth all on his own, though he seemed fine with it. she had glanced over to see that he was looking at the various flowers the shop had in around the shop. she didn't want to take up too much of his time. so she figured he'd want the information. she had been expecting him to follow her up to the counter.
she chatted with her boss about a few other things after getting an answer. she grabbed a business card, figuring if and when he wanted to place an order this would be the quickest way to grab the information. she made her way towards seth after getting an answer. she smiled once she spotted him. telling him the good news."of course! it was no trouble at all."she nods with a smile."i like winter, but i can't wait for spring will you send me pictures of your projects once spring arrives?"
that was it right? was there anything else she could help him with?"oh, if you're not busy, you can tell me about the book i recommended. if you like it or not. i'll give you my number and we can meet up to talk about it. i mean you don't have to read it right way."she told him with a smile."oh right, the business card. it has the number and website on it."she said as he handed it to him.

Arrangements were created with the quickness and professionalism that suggested the young woman had accomplished the task previously. There were no complaints on Seth's part considering the wait provided an ample opportunity to gather vague information about the state of the shop. His plans to gain assistance in garedening purchases meant he wanted to gather a generalized layout of the flower shop. Regularly, this helped the brunette in searching for what he required without hesitation on his part.
[break][break]
Saving time gathering the precious, plant life for the gardens he assisted with. As much as the dragon enjoyed basking in those few moments where loneliness was staved, efficiency assured he would be hired multiple times. The purple-haired woman displayed politeness towards his thanks. The woman further expressed similar wishes for witnessing the thaw of spring's warmth. It was the most ample time for jobs in Seth's situation. He imagined it would be the same for the flower shop occupants, given the fact the people considered flowers in those months.
[break][break]
Her wishes to see her smile was greeted with a soft, appreciative smile. Connections were considered important to the earth dragon, given his anxieties about separation and lonesomeness.
[break][break]
"I can do that," he affirmed.
[break][break]
The acquaintance he made provided further suggestions, one being in regards to discussing the books she suggested. The amount of friendliness being displayed by Madelyn created comfort and jubilee for Seth. He nodded at the information she gave, including the exchange of numbers.
[break][break]
"That would be great. I will give you my personal and text you my work one," the freelancer informed her.
[break][break]
Carefully, the dragon's pocket plunged into his jacket, picking out the cellphone. He tapped the screen with his fingers, entering the contact list. From there, he showed Madelyn the screen, giving her the chance to input her information.
you caught me under false pretenseshow long before you let me go?
after handing him the business card she quickly added."oh i almost forgot, we deliver. so if you have like a certain location you want the plants dropped off it's no problem."she said with a smile."though i can't say, i'll be delivering."a small laugh escaping her lips."i'm usually here in the shop, making arrangements and attending to the register."she nodded.
she was probably going to stick around the shop for a bit longer. not that seth she stay with her if he had other things to do. it was really nice meeting him and of course she wanted to discuss book and maybe even recommend him other titles. she smiled when he agreed to exchange numbers. she dug her phone out and opened it up to the contacts page before handing hers over to him and taking his in exchange. she quickly added her information before handing it back."sounds good. feel free to message me whenever. we don't just have to talk about books. i still need to show you where they have the best hot chocolate!"

[attr="class","crashBody"]
The closing remarks were inevitably here. A few minutes of precious interaction maintained through Madelyn's request for him to follow and become acquainted with the shop. Though, compared to their previous near separation, Seth discovered himself less discomforted by the thought. The manner the purple-haired woman spoke was friendly, suggesting mutually platonic likability between the pair. The exchange of contact information and agreements to an almost book-club-esk engagement between them was a favourable thought.
[break][break]
Thus as the business card was offered and pinched between his calloused fingers, Seth was more eased. He searched for valuable interaction at times, a moment to eradicate the loneliness plaguing his heart. Therefore, despite his serious, expression-lacking characteristics, he appreciated every second of speaking with another individual. Quietly, the dragon listened to her explanation of delivery options existing. Within moments, Seth had offered his phone and contact information was gradually being exchanged between the two parties.
[break][break]
A soft smile graced his lips at the words that left Madelyn's with the exchange of numbers. He gave a soft nod at her words, evidently pleased by the successful interaction. Once his phone was back, a quick text was sent to assure the correct numbers were given. When satisfied, the brunette slipped the device back into his jacket pocket.
[break][break]
"I will have a good day," he told her quietly.
[break][break]
Moments later he pushed away, exiting through the door. While he despised the upcoming loneliness, Seth discovered solace in the thought of having someone to talk to. It was something he wanted after all.
