Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Ian followed after Tadashi, unaware of the school surroundings because he was still becoming accustom to it. He was grateful that Tadashi held his hand tightly, ensuring that separation would become impossible. He didn't waste time following after Tadashi despite paying attention to their surroundings. Should danger approach, he believed he was somewhat capable of handling it, though he was secretly hoping it wouldn't come to it. As soon as they got to the classroom, Tadashi knocked on the door and the teacher checked through the window before allowing them to come inside. He quickly followed Tadashi inside, noticing the students panicking made him feel guilty that he hadn't done more for the situation.
One appeared to be freaking out so he had pulled away from Tadashi with the plan of calming the other student down. He had pulled his phone out to text Amon, knowing that the radio would have been better but he didn't want to draw any attention to himself. He heard Tadashi's question and a small smile appeared on his lips. "Just my emergency contact." He answered cheerfully, slipping his phone back into his pocket as he noticed Tadashi move closer to him, secretly hoping he hadn't seen who the message was for as he welcomed him with open arms. Oh what'd he'd give to have Tadashi close to him during this crisis even though in the back of his mind, he believed he should really be out there helping out.
Curiosity filled Tadashi, prompting his nosy actions to peek at Ian's phone. The adorable blond attracted the redhead's attention, making him desire more information about Ian. Anything he could learn about the newest student was welcomed and care about his fiance's opinions thrown out the window. The redhead openly displayed his affectionate nature towards Ian, allowing the other students to create rumours or consider snapping a picture. He despised his fiance, secretly hoping she would hear everything and decide to call off the marriage.
[break][break]
Furthermore, the connection Tadashi felt to Ian was impossible to ignore. It was a vibrant spark being lit into an enormous fire of love. There was something special about the blond, something he enjoyed immensely. As Tadashi wrapped his arms around Ian, placing his head on the blond's shoulder, the phone was tucked away. An answer was given, the redhead being sufficed by his response. The cheeriness of Ian's answer prompted a soft chuckle to escape Tadashi's lips. The grip around Ian was tightened, the brown-eyed teen smiling at him.
[break][break]
"Why are you so happy about that?" He inquired with a grin.
[break][break]
The naga glanced at the window, smiling as his grip loosened. The sounds of combat were in full-force, suggesting the terror was being fought. He grabbed Ian's wrist, gently tugging him to the window.
[break][break]
"C'mon, there must be a hunter here," Tadashi stated.
[break][break]
Slowly, the redhead led Ian towards the window, lifting himself with the counter to glance out the window. There he viewed the beginnings of a battle between a part-machine part animal creature and a disguised hunter. The terror was a medium risk, something which could be handled by an elite hunter, and Tadashi recognized that hunter. The future scout was taught about Terror Response Syndicate member, thus he recognized the infamous Amon who arrived on the scene to fight the monster.

Cold seeped into the day as a cloud-filled sky kept sunlight from warming Lorsette. The ill-favourable weather conditions did not bother Adair as he prepared to accomplish some hunting on behalf of the Terror Response Syndicate. The jorogumo dressed in his specially altered TRS uniform. Black covered Adair's body beneath the red cloak, the silver words "TRS HUNTING DIVISION" written on the back of the shirt. The red cloak was attached to the mysterious man's shoulders, successfully wrapping around him without issue.
[break][break]
The green bandana was wrapped around Adair's face, successfully hiding a portion of his features. Nose, mouth, ears and the back of his neck was hidden beneath the cloth. A hat was pulled over Adair's head, blue locks of hair shoved beneath the hat before being tugged lower. Combat boots and gloves were tugged on, effectively covering a majority of the jorogumo's body. Only moments later did the sounds of a notification beep from Adair's phone. The device was tugged from a hidden pocket beneath his clothing, gazing over the text.
[break][break]
The text informed him about a terror's presence at the school. Coming. The simple one-word text was sent back to soothe his apprentice's nerves. The radio was plucked from his belt and brought to his lips.
[break][break]
"I'm heading to the school, I received info a terror is there," Adair spoke with a serious tone.
[break][break]
Before an answer could be given, the jorogumo was hooked onto the belt. Hesitation disappeared as Adair enhanced his speed, running through the streets. Each step brought him closer, the school coming into his sight as the elite hunter rushed towards the scene. Eventually, he reached the school, his cyan eyes noticed the medium-risk terror outside the front of the school. The bow staff was drawn, Adair jumping high and hitting the terror hard. The creature growled as its attention fixated on the elite hunter.
[break][break]
Claws slid from the medium risk terror's paws as it swiped at the elite hunter. A web was shot from Adair's hand, quickly pulling him away from the terror. From the depths of his cloak, the jorogumo drew a dagger, throwing it at the terror. The blade narrowly missed the creature's throat, the terror running forward. Another web was shot, wrapping around a nearby streetlight and pulling Adair away again. A frustrated growl escaped the medium-risk terror's maw as the creature turned, slower compared to the previous charge.
[break][break]
Unknown to the terror, Adair possessed poison-covered daggers for the disposal of terrors. These creatures could be killed unlike Assembly members, therefore, one of the cloak pockets was dedicated to the special daggers. Another dagger was thrown, sinking into the creature's flesh. A yowl escaped the terror as it sloppily charged at the jorogumo who remained still, grabbing another dagger. When close enough, Adair dodged left as he slashed at the creature's throat, accomplishing the finishing blow without hesitation.
[break][break]
The terror fell to the ground, limp as its body dissipated into dust. The skillfulness of the elite hunter allowed him to defeat the creature quickly, although, Adair found this medium risk was reckless. The radio was grasped from his belt and bought to his lips.
[break][break]
"The medium risk terror at the school has been defeated, the school can reopen," the jorogumo explain.
[break][break]
An affirmative was given before the radio was returned to his belt. Afterwards, Adair turned to the pile of ash, sifting through it to retrieve the poisonous daggers. He wanted to avoid anybody getting hurt by the poison covered daggers, thus they were grabbed and returned to the same pocket; they could be washed later.
Ian pressed his back against Tadashi's chest as he melted into the hug, lifting his arm so that he could slightly hug back so that Tadashi hopefully wouldn't be pulling away from him anytime soon. He felt his phone vibrate but ignored it as he remained in Tadashi's embrace. "I'm happy that you asked." He answered honestly, so comfy in Tadashi's grip. "I suppose it isn't really the fact of me being happy over messaging them, more so the fact that you happened to hug me." He added, hoping the subject would change slightly. So perhaps he was happy that Adair had gotten his text message, since now hopefully TRS would be on the way to handle the Terror outside. He wasn't lying when he answered Tadashi's question, just simply dodged some of the question. If Tadashi thought he was happy messaging Adair, boy was he happy to have Tadashi suddenly wrap his arms around him. Talk about the best first day of high school ever.
Tadashi's grip loosened and he found himself turning slightly to try and peek at Tadashi, noticing that he was looking towards the window. There was what sounded like combat, coming from outside. His wrist was grabbed, slowly he moved to follow Tadashi towards the window that he could peek outside with him. To his surprise, Adair was out there. I wonder what he said. I wasn't expecting Amon to come out here. He thought to himself as he watched Adair fight off the Terror. Other students had moved to peek outside too, wanting to see the fight unfold. He is as impressive as ever and someday I hope to be just as skilled as him. He thought to himself, watching in awe. He watched as Adair lifted the radio off of his belt to speak into it, it seemed to him that Adair was likely reporting the Terror to be dead.
As Adair moved to pick up his daggers, he suddenly pushed away from the counter. "Be right back." He shouted, making his way passed some of the students before opening the door, making sure that it closed behind him before running down the hall. As soon as he made it outside, he found himself just in luck because Adair was still here. "Hey." He shouted, running over towards him, only stopping as soon as he caught up. "Thanks for coming..." He answered, panting because he had used his enhanced speed to go see him.
The slight return of an embrace prompted a smile to play across Tadashi’s lips. Subtle tones of romance made the redhead’s heart sing songs of merriment. Their closeness, their flirtatious remarks and everything related inspired hopefulness to enter the naga’s heart. Tadashi’s parents promised him to a bride, however, the romantic exploration sparking between himself and the attractive blond was irresistible. A forbidden temptation which opened the doors to potentially persuading his fiancé to severe their future marriage. Was it peculiar to possess a deep desire for a break up? Most likely.
[break][break]
Genuinely, the redhead believed anybody placed into his position would hold wishes to abandon the arranged marriage. Those garbage traditions forced him into a relationship with a spoiled brat who lacked care. She was merely somebody who worshiped the material possessions her parents gave her without hesitation or forethought. Constantly, his fiance flaunted her wealth without a single consideration for those less fortunate. Those were qualities Tadashi despised about her. Wealth appeared to be the single most crucial trait to her, meanwhile, Tadashi searched for charms.
[break][break]
Those charming behaviours were displayed by the feminine, blond boy. It persuaded Tadashi’s flirtatious side to surface, promoted reasons for closeness and inspired a necessity to care. Quietly, Tadashi watched from the window, recognizing the elite hunter fighting. Happiness transpired as he watched alongside Ian. By now, his fiancé would be screaming bloody murder because of the frightening thought of being trapped with a terror outside the school. The young naga bounced on the balls of his feet while watching Amon fight.
[break][break]
His eyes were open wide, observing every fragment of excitement the brief fight had to offer. The elite hunter’s skillful movements and capabilities were phenomenal. Each fluid motion was followed by the redhead’s brown eyes locked onto the graceful fighting man. Daggers glided through the air, plunging deep into the flesh of the monstrous creature until it finally succumbed to death. A cheer rang through the classroom, Tadashi promptly joining after witnessing the exciting display. The sudden pull away resulted in the redhead glancing back at Ian.
[break][break]
"Wait! Where are you going?!" He called afterwards.
[break][break]
Hastily, the blond sprinted out of the classroom, clearly using some enhanced speed. Curiosity perked, especially when moments later he heard students shouting about a student being outside with the hunter. A brief glance through the window showed Ian approaching the prestigious hunter and without forethought, Tadashi turned from the window and sprinted out the door. Enhanced speed activated almost immediately, the naga running out of the classroom. He skipped steps as he hurried down the stairwell, around the corner and out the front door.
[break][break]
The redhead proceeded to hurry until he managed to catch up. He stopped behind Ian, momentum carrying him forward. Consequences were forgotten as his arms reached out, Tadashi attempting to embrace the blond from behind.
[break][break]
"You didn't tell me you knew a hunter!" Tadashi exclaimed.
[break][break]
Features were bright across the redhead's face, eyes wide and a broad, toothy smile stretched across his lips. Despite his expected position in the TRS, Tadashi found giddiness in the current situation. THIS was an ELITE HUNTER! Somebody among the greats of fighting capability. There were hunters who told stories of the first sparing days of the mysterious Amon. How several opponents were defeated until it came to a draw with a green-haired hunter. Everything about the hunters was awesome, and Tadashi wished he could be one of them.

From the ashen remains of the terror, Adair retrieved his daggers. Each weapon was coated in the dark ashes, particularly the once well-polished, poison-covered blades. A sharp shake was given to the blades, looser particles of dust flying from the surface. The action was repeated a few times, remnants of ash clinging to Adair's gloves. Defeating terrors was never a clean task, however, still one he accepted the responsibility for. Payment for his sins was required... He hoped to hide his blood-soaked days of assassination with the ash of terrors.
[break][break]
A layer of evil hidden beneath the dirt of his heroics. Every horrible crime he committed, each time he claimed the life of another person all cloaked under the ash. A soft sigh escaped the elite hunter's lips as thoughts were shoved aside. The first dagger was exchanged to his left hand. From one of his pockets, he retrieved a cloth. He draped it carefully over his right hand before cautiously grasping the blade. In a single, slow-motion he followed the blade upwards, a majority of the ash being wiped off in the process.
[break][break]
The first dagger was returned to the cloaked pocket before Adair accomplished a similar action with the second. Approaching footsteps reached the jorogumo's ears. Immediately, his eyes noticed Ian approaching, the young man who was formerly his apprentice. A greeting was shouted, Adair waiting until the blond was nearby to speak.
[break][break]
"Hi, and of course I did," Adair answered.
[break][break]
The final dagger was returned to his pocket meanwhile the cloth was shook. Ash flew from the fabric, Adair shaking it until satisfied. Moments later, it was returned to its regular pocket.
[break][break]
"Getting caught up in school?" Adair inquired. "Were a bit behind when you joined the TRS?"
[break][break]
The elite hunter was under the impression Ian was 18. While the blond held a youthful appearance, the existence of immortality made it difficult to refute the possibility of him being an adult. The paperwork was suitable, therefore, the seraphim was accepted into their ranks. Mere moments after Ian's approach, another young student approached, another somewhat recognizable face. The redheaded student caught up to the blond, arms reaching to try and hug him. A brow raised at the spectacle, the jorogumo concerned with the closeness being displayed.
[break][break]
Perhaps Ian was becoming a big brother figure to his classmates? The notion was pleasant and Adair hoped those were the intentions of the school board. There would be 18-year-old students inside the school, most hoping to complete their education and graduate shortly.
Ian heard Tadashi's question but he didn't want to miss his chance in thanking Adair so he continued down the hall anyway. As he made his way towards Adair, he greeted before thanking him. A smile was on his lips as he listened to Adair greet him in return before answering. He gave a nervous smile since he had used a fake ID to join the TRS. Before he had a chance to answer, footsteps could be heard and before he could peek to see who it was, arms had wrapped around him. He knew prior that he was going to force himself to remain calm but he couldn't help but melt when he heard Tadashi's voice coming from behind him. I don't think coming out here proves it but there is no sense hiding it now. He thought to himself as a small smile formed on his lips.
"Not really, I just barely got enrolled, so tomorrow is when school starts." He answered Adair first before admitting, "Yeah, he was my mentor." He wasn't sure how Tadashi would take the answer, but he then added, "Though for the sake of blending in, can it be our little secret?" He whispered, hoping Tadashi would go for it, of course if he wouldn't he planned on figuring out another way of blending in, if that would even be possible. "Don't worry I'll be caught up with school soon." He answered as he attempted to reassure Adair, with hope that Tadashi still believed him to be younger then him since frankly he was, without hopefully Adair figuring out he had joined with a fake ID to make him appear so much older.
The naga was impressed by Ian’s willingness to descend the stairs and speak with an elite hunter. Excitement roamed Tadashi’s veins as he smiled broadly at Amon. Despite the expectations of the Abbot family, this was the redhead’s first time seeing the infamous Amon up close. Hazel eyes analyzed the mysterious jorogumo, admiring the clothing he wore. Concealed by layers of fabric, nobody knew the complete appearance of the enigmatic man.
[break][break]
The space between the scarf and the hat revealed cyan-coloured eyes, fair skin and the slightest fringes a reddish colour. Few distinguishable features of Amon’s face were visible beneath the clothing he wore, however, Tadashi found excitement in what he managed to learn. Those emotions of exhilaration resulted in the unconscious tightening in his grip around Ian. Quietly, Tadashi listened to Ian speak, eyes widening when the blond mentioned Amon was his mentor.
[break][break]
Other words arrived with the mentioning, however, the excitement was boiling over in the young man. Words he managed to hear, but struggled to act upon immediately.
[break][break]
“Seriously?! THAT’S-” Tadashi stopped himself, blushing a bit. “I mean... yeah, I can do that. That’s still super cool though.”
[break][break]
Afterwards, the redhead resigned himself to silence as envy entered his mind. In the Abbot Family, members were expected to become TRS scouts, however, Tadashi desired to become a hunter. Unfortunately, he was stuck following those ridiculous family traditions which forced arranged marriage and scouting down his throat. Speaking against the traditional ceremonies of the Abbot Family was blasphemy, or at least, Tadashi assumed it was.

The jorogumo observed the pair interact, his brow raising softly. A vaguely familiar redhead had wrapped his arms around Ian, causing the blond to melt from the embrace. The elite hunter hoped there was nothing to worry about, however, embracing could be viewed as an innocent activity. As Adair stood, watching Ian, he was unaware of the forged identification. Thus the scene unfolding in front of the jorogumo was an 18-year-old having a warm embrace with a 15-year-old.
[break][break]
Quietly, his cyan hues glanced over the redheaded teen, analyzing his appearance. There was something oddly familiar about the young man. Almost as though Adair witnessed a face strikingly similar, albeit, older in years. It made the jorogumo curious about Ian’s little friend who scuttled down the stairs to join him. Somewhat of an introduction was given, Ian explaining how Adair was his mentor. The boy appeared star-struck, eyes wide as he observed him, investigating his appearance. The procedure of analyzing the redhead conducted was visual-based and something Adair was used to.
[break][break]
“Ian, who is your friend?” Adair questioned.
[break][break]
The elite hunter wanted a proper introduction before he left. He was curious about the redheaded boy and the familiar appearance he seemed to know from somewhere.
Ian felt Tadashi's grip tightening but he didn't mind it one bit, in fact the tighter the better, he found himself so comfy in Tadashi's arms, this was completely worth it. He noticed Adair observing them, unsure of what his thoughts were on the matter of allowing Tadashi hugging him, but seeing as he got away with joining TRS with a fake ID and is currently taking care of himself without a guardian as is usual for his age, he couldn't help but chose to not worry about it. He explained to Tadashi about how Adair was his mentor before requesting for it to be their little secret. It wasn't until Adair asked his question he was reminded introductions were in order. "Amon this is Tadashi a classmate, Tadashi this is Amon, he used to be my mentor." He explained figuring if either of them wanting to give a last name, it was in their right to do so.
Excitement roamed through Tadashi's veins as he embraced Ian while watching the mysterious TRS hunter. This entire day was absolutely magnificent! First he managed to meet the stunning, blond and now he was granted the opportunity to meet an elite hunter. There was warmth manifesting between them from their long-standing hug. The observations being accomplished by the masked hunter resulted in Tadashi straightening his posture. He wanted the enigmatic man to be impressed with his strength and general body shape.
[break][break]
The redhead desired to be a hunter opposed to a scout, therefore, he attempted create the impression of a powerful fighter. His parents never noticed his wishes to become a fighter and defend people from terrors. Perhaps an elite hunter could manage to persuade his foolish parents. The man requested his name, the smile on Tadashi's face stretching widely because of fantasized ideas flowing through his head. Maybe the infamous hunter would tell the TRS how he would be a great hunter if given the opportunity to become.
[break][break]
Quietly, the naga listened to Ian introduce him to the infamous Amon. The mysterious man merely nodded, remaining silent as he seemed prepared to leave. Suddenly, the sound a radio echoed from the hunter's belt, suggesting he would be expected to leave soon.

Concerns filtered through Adair's head as he observed the pair's interactions with one another. Their age difference worried the blue-haired man, however, it was impossible to deduce their potential connection within a single conversation. Theoretically, they could have a brotherly relationship or the redhead could be known for being an affectionate young man. There were people who enjoyed hugging and snuggling with anybody or a close friend. Nonetheless, Adair planned on watching over Ian and assuring he would not do anything stupid.
[break][break]
Introductions were accomplished by his former apprentice, Adair finally being provided the name of the blond's friend. Tadashi, the name did not sound particularly familiar. The masked TRS hunter was about to request the young man's surname, however, the sounds of radio static reached his ears. Something else required his immediate attention, meaning gaining further information would have to wait. The radio was grabbed, Adair hearing the request for backup because of a difficult situation. The device was brought to the hunter's lips.
[break][break]
"On my way," Adair stated before latching it back onto his belt. "Behave yourself Ian, Tadashi. See you later."
[break][break]
With those words, Adair began running, enhanced speed activating as he moved away, web shooting from his hand. The jorogumo swung, leaving the boys behind to start his next mission.
Ian noticed Tadashi's posture straighten, he couldn't help but lean against him further, not wishing to lose the chance of closing their distance even if Tadashi's goal had been to do so. The radio had gone off, he found himself reminded that he honestly should be using his own radio, thankfully Adair hadn't called him out on the subject. He was quiet as he found himself torn between Adair leaving and Tadashi, he enjoyed being in both of their companies. It was difficult to explain his reasonings for why but he felt close to Adair as if they shared a bond, it was like they connected without knowing the other's story and that was fine by him. Meanwhile he connected with Tadashi another way, through friendship that would hopefully turn into something more in the near future.
"Yes sir." He answered back to Adair, wishing for nothing more than to call him dad, watching him leave for his next mission. Slowly he'd turn around to face Tadashi, knowing he had suggested ice cream earlier but found that it would be best for him to head home now. "Rain check on the ice cream?" He asked, appearing apologetic before adding, "I'm going to head home so that I can prepare for school tomorrow, but I'd love to talk with you more." He added, having Tadashi's phone number safely stored on his phone. He'd wait for Tadashi's answer, not wishing to part ways but he knew that he needed to return home to sort things out if he were to be ready for school tomorrow.
As the mysterious jorogumo turned to leave, Tadashi held Ian tightly. He grinned similar to a giddy child from the unexpected interaction with an elite hunter. He watched as the hunter hastily left before snuggling Ian a bit as a 'thank you' for allowing the opportunity to meet Ian's former mentor. He loosened his grip when he felt the blond turning to gaze at him. A smile played across Tadashi's lips as he watched the beautiful, amber-eyed man. As they stood together, the redhead found himself admiring Ian's feminine appearance again.
[break][break]
Words left the blond's beautiful lips as they faced one another. The apologetic tone of his voice prompted Tadashi to smile softly at his darling prince. Their plans would be altered, however, the redhead would not complain considering the circumstances which recently unfolding. A terror arrived to ruin their day, the school had panicked and ultimately everything was complicated. The naga understood if Ian wanted to post-pone their plans to worry about school, especially since school would likely conclude early on account of a terror shut down.
[break][break]
"I understand," he said with a smile. "Today was probably stressful after that terror showed up."
[break][break]
The words escaped his lips with a light-hearted chuckle. Moments later his hand reached up, softly caressing Ian's face for a moment before reaching down to grab his hand. Shortly afterwards, he began leading Ian inside so they could fetch their things and prepare to leave.
