Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

As he separated from Kiona, Brasti's eyes scanned the corridors around them. A quick, well-conducted survey completed by the observant eyes of the scout deputy. The demon's hands dipped into his pocket while they walked through the hallways, slow and cautious. Hunters were tensed, medics worried as they followed and everybody operating on bated breath as each nervous step was proceeded by another. People were frightened and worried about the possibilities around those corners and the enemies lurking in their hallways.
[break][break]
Headquarters was supposed to be a place of safety, however, the Assembly managed to invade their turf. They proceeded down the hallways, Brasti overlooking their operation to reach the gym. The demon counted people, assuring nobody was separating or showing suspicious behaviours related to the possession incident. Quiet footsteps filled Brasti's ears as they moved through the hallways, hunters peeking around the corners before proceeding. Then a loud thud reached the ears of the paranoid group of TRS members.
[break][break]
The scout deputy turned, everybody freezing as they waited for information. Slowly, Brasti moved towards the back, steps cautious, heel to toe in order to minimize noise. The demon's hands escaped his pockets, staying at his sides. If required, the demon planned on defending the group. His experiences through the War of Traitors gave him the combat capability needed to defend himself and others with substantial ability.
Kiona watched as Brasti had moved towards the back to find out what the noise had been. She couldn't help but slowly moved towards the back so that she could get a better view on what it had been. So far nobody had come into view, but that could easily change if they weren't careful. Another noise had come from the front and she found herself being squished by the group because she had been in the middle of them. It took effort, but she forced her way out of the group so that she would be free and rope had come from around the corner and wrapped around her before she had been tugged hard in that direction. The hunters that had been paying attention, found themselves stepping forward to try and chase after the medic that had been just kidnapped. From near the back, TRS had sudden showed up with AP being captured. "Sorry we are late, caught them preparing to attack and we chose to step in. Is everybody okay here?" One of the TRS hunter's asked, unaware of Kiona's situation.
Suspicious noises surrounded the group of people traversing the hallways of the infiltrated headquarters. People were tense, muscles tightening as sounds echoed from the hallways on both sides of the group. They pressed together, leaving Brasti as a single unit investigating the area. The sounds grew louder, the crowd pressing against one of the hallway walls, breath bated because of the circumstances. There was a rustle from within the group as the medic, Kiona, pushed through the throng to escape being suffocated by the people around her.
[break][break]
Suddenly, a rope shot out from the hallway and wrapped around the medic, a swift yank dragging her away. The scout deputy's eyes widened as he realized the dire situation. More footsteps could be heard as other people approached, Brasti glancing over his shoulder to check who. There were hunters, but the main group required protection. As the footsteps approached, the demon was quick to analyze their uniform and recognize some of their identities. A group of hunters had arrived in their area, meaning the group would be safe.
[break][break]
"Everyone here is fine, lead them out. Someone got separated," Brasti commanded before turning heel.
[break][break]
From there, he sprinted down the hallway, heading to try and find Kiona. The pursuit would be dangerous, but the scout deputy was required to trust his combat experience. He followed the few signs he had of where Kiona was dragged to in hopes of finding the medic quickly. If needed, the chance to use a sight hex still existed to allow him a view of where the woman was.
Kiona struggled in the grip as the rope had yanked her closer to the one holding it. She believed it was safe to assume it was AP. To her surprise some of the hunters had followed after them to try and save her but the person holding her hostage had come prepared, having more AP nearby to handle them as they continued with Kiona, heading down another hall. The hunters tried to keep up but found themselves against some AP, being forced to fight them before saving their comrade. Once distance had been made between her and her comrades the one that had kidnapped her had taken her outside before tying her up. As soon as she saw the person she recalled them as the one that she had pinched their nerves so that they'd pass out and she'd get freedom from them. It seemed this AP soldier planned to continue where they had left off and she was all alone out here, though that wouldn't stop her from trying to use her plants to tangle her enemy up in the process. Pain shot into her hand when a dagger had been thrown at her hand, making it impossible to focus on freeing herself. I hope everybody else is okay, I fear this is the end for me. She thought to herself, truly fearing for this end.
Down the corridor, Brasti sprinted, violet eyes searching for Kiona. The sightings were becoming lesser, signs of her disappearance fading. The demon's eyes narrowed as he fetched a piece of chalk from the inner pocket of his jacket. Chances were, Kiona was still within a four mile radius of headquarters... Lines were drawn hastily, displaying the scout's natural affinity for hexes, especially sight. Once finished, he stood, violet eyes locking on the chalk hex circle he created on the floor.
[break][break]
An open palm was pointed at the hex, magic being summoned into the lines, resulting in a faint glow coating the chalk outline. The magic activated the circle, a "video" manifesting in front of Brasti. There, the demon saw where the kidnapper took Kiona, further working the hex to assure he had the exact location. Based on the moment being displayed, the field medic was in peril. Once assured on Kiona's location, the moving picture faded away. Chalk captured in his fingers, the drawing started again, a different set of lines and circles being drawn onto the floor.
[break][break]
This one accomplished faster, a circle just large enough for Brasti to step inside of without disturbing the magical lines. He stood in the center, lines gaining a similar light as previously, however, this time it covered the demon. As the soft light bathed him, Brasti prepared himself for the dangerous situation he would be launched into. Moments later, the scout disappeared, his body being transported outside. As the demon opened his violet eyes, the world unfolded, Kiona being in a uncompromising position with a murderous soldier.
[break][break]
Quick actions were taken the scout's determination to rescue his fellow TRS member raised. Darkness was dragged from the shadows of the building, creating a thin dome around Brasti and the soldier. A smirk traced the demon's lips as he crossed his arms, waiting for the soldier to turn.
[break][break]
"Sorry, can't let you go around killing people, now can I?" Brasti stated.
[break][break]
Steps were taken closer, well-timed as he waited to view the soldier's reaction. The situation was tense, however, Brasti masked his expression as he accomplished the dangerous steps closer. He needed to know what the kidnapper was capable of.
Kiona felt the pain in her hand, having been stabbed by the dagger. The AP soldier prepared to attack before a sudden darkness dome had surrounded them inside of it, with whom she could only guess. She was soon able to hear them through the dome, small talk. The AP soldier wasn't pleased when Brasti had interrupted them, having created a darkness dome, trapping the both of them inside of it. "You're a scout.... what the hell are you doing here? Don't you have a group you were leading around?" The AP soldier snapped, at the currently moment only caring about killing Kiona. She had after all escaped them earlier and now that they had a chance to kill her, they weren't about to give it up, not even if it meant having to murder Brasti first. Brasti had moved closer to them, they pulled out their tome preparing to use telekinesis. The sooner they dealt with Brasti, the sooner they could resume attacking Kiona, killing her off for good.
The sphere forged from darkness protected the young medic successfully, however, imprisoned Brasti with the malicious soldier. Beneath his sunglasses, the demon’s violet coloured eyes swiftly observed the perpetrator in question. From their appearance, a scout could gather plenty about somebody they merely became acquainted with. The duties of his occupation involved detailed analysis, therefore, he easily noticed the ring of knives on his opponent's belt alongside a bulkier object stowed away in his coat. The object seemed rectangular, however, he could not deduce what it was.
[break][break]
The soldier’s expression spoke volumes about how he felt in regards to Brasti’s shielding methods. He appeared displeased with the presented situation, specifically the shield which surrounded them. When referred to a scout, the black-haired man grinned. It appeared his opponent wished to underestimate him because of his rank. Few were aware of his interesting past, therefore, only a selected group knew he was formerly a soldier of Hell’s Army through the War of Traitors. During his early years, he was trained in combat.
[break][break]
From the depths of his opponent’s jacket, the soldier fished out a tome. The papery item would receive torment as Brasti lit a flame upon his finger and flicked it towards the book. From there he planned on increasing the flames and engulfing the warlock’s weapon in flames.
Kiona listened as the two went at it. The soldier dropped their tome when the fire had hit the book. Suddenly they reached to try and pick it back up. Slowly she struggled, hand in pain because a dagger was in it. If only I could? Wait.... She thought to herself, knowing that it would be a painful process as she adjusted her hand and slowly attempted to pull the dagger out. A whimper escaped her lips when she managed to pull the knife out before adjusting it to cut the ropes that were holding her wrists tied before freeing herself to cut the rest of the rope from her body. Her hand stung with pain. She quickly yanked the backpack off that she thankfully still had on her, to open it up to treat her wound.
Fire sparked, traveling through the air and catching the soldier’s freshly retrieved tome. A smirk crossed Brasti’s face as the sparks collided with the pages. Immediately, the demon subtly flicked his right hand up, prompting his fire manipulation to gain power. Heat increased, fire spreading over the papers of the tome, as though somebody doused it in gasoline. Flames consumed the tome, licking the air above, temperature worsening for the unfortunate warlock. Nobody expected Brasti to possess fighting capabilities, however, he would not complain.
[break][break]
Burned parchment crumbled from the intense heat, tome toppling to the ground. The intense situation kept Brasti’s focus on the battle ahead. With those simple actions, the warlock was disarmed of his most powerful weapon. Magic was a strong force, something capable of accomplishing things normality failed to. As the book shifted to ash, Brasti strode forward, brisk steps being taken. The demon’s eyes flitted towards the shadowy shield beyond the man upon hearing noises rise from Kiona. Foolishness was accomplished by the medic, which meant the pace needed to be quickened.
[break][break]
Suddenly, the dark-haired man manipulated more darkness, manifesting a small ball. The darkness ball was launched at the warlock’s head. There was force behind Brasti’s attack, and he hoped it would be enough to knock out his enemy.
Kiona managed to get the backpack open, struggling to grab the disinfection first. Her hand stung and as she bit her lower lip to avoid screaming out in pain. She then reached for the bandages, struggling to wrap them around her wounded hand. Meanwhile the AP soldier was at a loss for what to do because the tome had been burned up and the dagger was currently with Kiona. Before they had a chance to come up with a counter attack, Brasti had attacked them with darkness, knocking them out cold. Come on.... Come on.... She thought to herself, continuing to struggle with the wrap as means of stopping the bleeding.
Actions were accomplished with haste as the situation became pressured. Kiona was bleeding immensely after pulling the dagger from her hand. The abhorrent wound leaked with precious red life liquid, meaning time was becoming limited. The injury required mending to assure the medic would not fade from blood loss; with this attack they needed all the medical professionals they could receive. The black ball of darkness sped towards the warlock, smacking into his head. With the attack, Brasti's opponent toppled to the ground, unconscious.
[break][break]
The shield of darkness faded away, freeing Brasti and the unconscious warlock from the restricted location. Once the shield fell, the demon sprinted towards the field medic. Darkness formed into a knife-like shape, following the dark-haired man. He stopped in front of Kiona, pulling off the glove on his left hand. Suddenly, the darkness moved down, "blade" ripping into the flesh of his palm. The scout flinched from pain, but he bit back any noises of distress from the action. Blood pooled around the cut, dripping from the wound he created.
[break][break]
Quickly, Brasti began working, using the blood from his wounded hand to draw a large hex circle. A few minutes passed until the hex was completed. The demon pressed his wounded hand against his stomach to avoid further bleeding. Afterwards, he offered his right hand to Kiona.
[break][break]
"C'mon, we need to get you healed up," Brasti stated.
[break][break]
If Kiona took his assistance, the hex would activate upon her entry into the circle. Should she decide otherwise, the demon planned on grabbing her and tossing her over his shoulder to accomplish the hex anyways. The scout merely hoped she picked the easier, less bloody method.
Kiona noticed Brasti had finished up with the AP soldier before making his way to stand in front of her. After wasting so much time attempting to bandage her hand, she found herself looking towards him as he removed his glove and sliced his hand with darkness before creating a hex circle. He offered his hand to her and she found herself staring at him, too slow in taking it. Suddenly she was tugged to her feet, quickly reaching for her backpack to ensure that she wouldn't lose it as the bandages laid against her arm after having failed to wrap it around her hand, before being tossed onto his shoulder. Once he stepped inside the hex healed her hand, making the bandages useless because her hand was healed and it had her blood all over it. "Well since you already have me on your shoulder, might as well teleport us to the gym next, wouldn't you agree?" She asked, attempting some revenge because he had the nerve to put her on his shoulder in the first place.
Slowness evidently plagued Kiona, enough for Brasti to be prompted in following his back-up strategy. Haste was required in times of absolute crisis, therefore, the demon refused to take chances. The young field medic already got snatched up by a kidnapper once, thus the scout refused to allow that to happen again. His team mates were required in this frightful war against the Assembly of Phantoms and after this fight, they required any able-bodied individual they could receive. Smoothly, he pulled Kiona closer, fluently hauling her over his shoulder.
[break][break]
Once successful, he retreated to the hex forged from blood. A dark patch had formed on his uniform from the blood seeping from his self-inflicted wound. There was pain pulsating through the gash, unpleasant, but necessary to save the young woman. Later, he would apologize to Lilliana about the incident to avoid worrying his darling sweetheart. She was probably aware of the attack, but the binds of her occupation kept her from revealing that information. As he stepped into the hex, the lines lighting with a faint glow.
[break][break]
The glow crawled onto their wounds, flesh stitching together with ease until flawless skin existed. The bleeding ceased, pain numbing until everything mended. Only moments after did Kiona bring up teleporting, a smirk forming on Brasti's lips. That was already a crucial section of his plan. Wordlessly, he grabbed his chalk, crouching with the light-weight nymph on his shoulder to quickly draw another hex circle around them. Once completed, he carefully stood to his full height, magic focusing again to teleport them away from the dangerous battles around them.
[break][break]
Light covered them, the pair disappearing and re-materializing just outside the gymnasium doors, but still inside the training center. They needed to enter through the proper venues to avoid anybody panicking. Upon their arrival, Brasti carefully let Kiona down to her feet so she could stand on her own.
