Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Moments prior, Brasti had been accomplishing his regular duties of rooting out suspicious activities. Recent sightings of a well-known Assembly of Phantoms soldier known as Jon Grant. Throughout the week, Jon had been carrying out various strange activities. Through the persistent usage of cameras, Brasti tracked the man's movements to several drop locations, each being abandoned. There were no patterns to the man's decisions and movements, rather, he flowed through the sidewalks, heading from place to place.
[break][break]
As of the present, scouts and hunters departed to fetch the Assembly soldier in desperate hope of arresting him before he slinked back to Aria Village. From there, Brasti's occupation would grow in interest, however, that would be accomplished following a well-deserved smoke break. Little could be finished as the hunters and scouts headed to bring him into the TRS headquarters. A smile danced across the demon's lips upon seeing the familiar form of his friend, Eugen. After hours of work, both likely required an opportunity to escape their desks and receive a deep breath of fresh air.
[break][break]
The agreement to join Brasti on a long-required smoke break brought a sense of happiness to the demon. Perhaps it was the natural instincts resulting from their magical bond or the number of incredible times they had together, but Brasti discovered immense joy in these instances.
[break][break]
"Great, then let's go," the scout deputy began, rolling his shoulders a little. "Man, I think I sat at that desk a little too long."
[break][break]
The demon's words were punctuated with a low chuckle. He turned away from the doorway, Eugen following after him to head towards the doors. Through the hallways, the pair strolled with footsteps bouncing off the walls. The regular small-talk kicked up hastily because of their familiarity.
[break][break]
"Pretty good, just waiting to see if the troop sent out comes back with the guy I'm looking for. Then I'll dive into it and see what happens," he explained with a shrug before giving a small laugh. "Oh, but I did watch a girl who was looking at her phone walk into a glass door. Anyways, how's your day been?"
[break][break]
As they journeyed further down the hallway, they approached the pair of double doors leading out into the break area. The demon pushed through one of the doors, his hand reaching back to catch it for Eugen's to catch up. Once outside, he approached the regular bench as his fingers fidgeted for his cigarettes. The box of cancer sticks was caught between Brasti's fingers, a single push of the inner case revealing rows of cigarettes. Quickly, he plucked the stick from the case and perched the brown end between his lips.
[break][break]
Once the box was returned to his pocket, the demon snapped his fingers, adding some finesse to the lighting of the small fire. He brought the flame to the edge of his cigarette, lighting it before offering the light to Eugen out of politeness. His friend could easily light his own cigarette, but with the fire already playing on the tips of his fingers he figured it was worth offering.
Observantly, Brasti's eyes analyzed the raiju's composure. The man's tongue danced with alcohol, allowed intoxication to infect his brain and it was obvious. A brutal parasite working alongside sorrow's power and influencing the hands of those weakened by its bitter tongue. An unfortunate display, and had Brasti's mood not been persuaded by the sorrowful reminders of a history ridden with misfortunes and turmoil, his words would lack delicacy. Though previous experiences between himself and the easily angered raiju remained blatant memories.
[break][break]
Teasing antics were commonly accomplished by the arrogant, sunglasses-wearing man. Entertainment was easily discovered in obnoxious games of 'poke-the-bear' and incessant bothering. Ceasing the tirade was impossible for every crack in composure or annoyed sigh fueled the requirement to jeer. Alas, his present toned down emotional composure was beyond the attitude the man regularly exhibited. Behind the mask of sunglasses, Brasti's violet eyes watched Severus, their colour clouded with a sense of pity to the intoxicated man.
[break][break]
Slurred rambling escaped the sergeant's lips as he rebuked the stated words. The truth was behind the words used by the scout deputy, however, in his inebriated condition nothing could be fully cognitized. Thorough thinking was abandoned for drops of poison from a bottle. Distant strikes of lightning created grumbling thunder, suggesting the shortcoming of rain. The assistance to avoid a lending hand from another was undoubtedly natural. Severus held no preconceived notions of trust and winning him over would undoubtedly be difficult.
[break][break]
"I don't send you straight into trouble, do I?" The demon began. "I tease everyone, it's nothing special. Besides, seeing you like this? It's a little worrying to anyone, don't you think?"
[break][break]
The dark-haired demon's eyes narrowed as Severus attempted to rise. The lizard shifter was already against taking assistance from him, furthermore, the intensity of his intoxication suggested he would be a stumbling mess. If anything, rising from the cold concrete risked the possibility of injury. It inspired his hand to latch on tighter than intended, hoping Severus would merely bow to the whims of guidance. The thought was a weak prayer... A prayer that went entirely unheard. Tense muscles formed beneath the demon's hand, increasing any wariness the bespectacled man initially had.
[break][break]
Words spilt in a waterfall of slurs as Severus smacked away the demon's hand. An insistence against comprehension towards the other's emotional state. Yet, as the raiju's spoke more, Brasti's eyes darkened with the thoughts of distant bad memories. Fortunately, the demon's eyes remained masked by the pair of dark glasses obscuring the specifics of their emotion and colouring. Everything going up in flames from your own doing. Ah, the sentence mustered distant memories of his long, lost lover perishing in the turmoil of betrayal.
[break][break]
He should have allowed her to strike him down. Her return would have been unquestioned and showered in beliefs of heroics. Rather, they accomplished the foolish and as the smoke settled, he remained the last man standing. A chuckle left his lips, nothing similar to his teasing attempts. Instead, it was half-hearted and barely audible as though trying to bite away from any painful thoughts. It shifted into a slow exhale as every bitter memory was shoved carelessly back into the box and stored. Severus was the concern, not thoughts of his follies.
[break][break]
"You're right, I won't fully understand, but I can get it a little bit," Brasti began cautiously. "You're overwhelmed, eh? Like nothing's going right anymore because of one dumb mistake?"
[break][break]
Slowly, the demon shuffled forward and put a hand on Severus' back. It was gentle and hovering as he tested the waters. The emotional hurricane the raiju appeared to be going through was nothing he would mock or speak a word of, rather, he wanted to provide the chance to ease.
[break][break]
"You don't have to," he murmured in a softer voice. "Now c'mon, how about you come with me and lay down? You can be as quiet as you want."
[break][break]
Carefully, he pushed Severus' back in hopes of nudging him forward. The brunette required a place to lay down his head and breathe for a few moments, and despite their differences, Brasti intended to provide it.
Curiosity flickered in the violet hues obscured by darkened lenses. The usual expectations of scout deputy weighed upon his shoulders as his fingers clicked keys. The melody of the computer filled his ears from the soft hum of the fan and clicking of his keyboard. Researching started during the morning hours of the day and straight through for several hours of information acquiring. He worked through lunch, having eaten while chasing the recent leads provided connected to the recent events carrying on in the TRS.
[break][break]
For the day, work was progressing with excellence, alas, Brasti found the restlessness stirring. He discovered extensive hours confined to his office, sitting in the same chair staring at the monitor. A well-deserved break was arriving due to the endless craving of bitter nicotine and enjoyable conversation. The demon leaned back, his arms reaching high to stretch muscles along his back, shoulders and arms. Only moments later would he roll back from his chair to rise from his chair. As his hands returned to his sides, the black-haired man's fingers entered his pockets.
[break][break]
Mentally, a checklist breezed through his head as he felt for his smokes, phone and office keys. Once each item was felt in the depths of his pockets, the man strode to the door. In a fluid motion, the knob was twisted open before closing and locking it behind him. A smile graced Brasti's face as he entered the hallway, his mind running past locations. Briskly, he moved through the building off suspicions. The possibilities were there for the dark-haired demon's search. He could have searched around the security cameras from his computer, however, the sunglasses-wearing man wished for the opportunity to walk.
[break][break]
Smoothly, he walked through, being avoided by others in his search for a single man, Eugen Sauvageon. Smoke breaks alongside the dark-haired hunter summoned a sense of enjoyment. The conversations manifested between them always brought a sense of joy to Brasti's life. Yet, those were natural emotions given the connective strings between them, tied off and permanent. Soulmates, but unable to act upon the magical bond to form between them. The demon was happily married, the pair possessing a young child with plans of a prosperous future.
[break][break]
Out of respect, the pair refused to act upon those magical ties. Rather, they stuck to a platonic basis with a muted sense of affection existing between the pair. Within moments, Brasti discovered himself at the doorstep of a common location to find one of his few friends. His hand extended to the door, opening it wide to peer in. His violet hues scanned the room before resting on the familiar face of the hunter. Quickly, the scout deputy's countenance brightened with a large smirk. He stepped into the room, removing the distance with brisk strides.
[break][break]
"Hey, wanna go smoke? I have a second if you're up for it," the demon asked.
[break][break]
Before receiving an answer, Brasti gestured for the man's follow. After years of knowing Eugen, the demon was aware of the man's smoking habits. The chances of being turned down were slim despite the possible factors. Furthermore, the chilling temperatures of winter were gradually fading out as spring rapidly approached. The upcoming warmth undoubtedly would lure the pair out easier for the well-needed smoke break. A smile played across Brasti's face as he lingered near the exit, waiting for his friend before leaving and heading to the large, double doors.
Defensively, Brasti's apprentice checked the boxes off for capability. Despite these facts, he was plenty aware Graelish would require an offensive to assure his survival. The battlefield was a dangerous location, and the scouting perspective while being lesser exposed to the perils, was still suffocated by them. Around every corner would be an enemy, malicious individuals planning the demise of the Terror Response Syndicate. Mercy was a nonexistent word in their vocabulary and years of service taught Brasti those values with haste.
[break][break]
The demon pulled up his sunglasses via a soft grab to the spectacle's leg. Thoughts of where to proceed the lesson fluttered through his mind. The seraphim's inadept nature and unwillingness to hold a weapon would potentially lead to instances of being pinned down by the enemy. A man only capable of defences would be required to run and avoid trapping from the enemy. It left the dark-haired man relatively determine to help him learn. Though with extinguishing going questionable, he wondered if there was a different manner to tackle it.
[break][break]
"We can move on for a bit after this, but I think it would be beneficial for you to get the hang of this," the demon explained. "You said no to a weapon, so you need something to get someone off your back so you can get away if you need to."
[break][break]
A soft 'hmm' hummed through the demon's lips as his thoughts churned. His mind sought for another method of explanation or perhaps something missing from the apprentice's attempts. Though any signs to giveaway to potential issues were masked by the seraphim. Undetectable and hidden beneath a visage faking another emotion. When he heard his apprentice speak, his violet eyes flickered over.
[break][break]
"Can you make sparks or anything of the sort? Otherwise, I think maybe we should start with you trying to maintain an existent flame. It might help you get used to holding fire's form," the demon suggested to him. "If not, we might have to teach you hand-to-hand, but that is not always reliable."
[break][break]
In a world brimming with varying abilities, hand-to-hand combat struggled to discover its place. There were plenty of different powers to disrupt the flow of hands or sharp kicks. However, with his apprentice being a seraphim, enhanced speed could provide a quickness to maneuver and avoid those attacks. Alas, it ultimately depended on the person's dexterity to power them through and avoid tripping up. If flames proved further beyond comprehension at present, the demon's options would be placed in attempting to build upon Gray's enhanced speed ability.
[break][break]
Nonetheless, Brasti hoped to build upon Gray's fire manipulation on the side. If naught for a refined weapon, an excellent assist to other built upon skills or extinguishing capabilities. If anything, Brasti wanted his apprentice to gain capability in starting and extinguishing flames even if not for a full-blown offensive strategy.
