Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Kiernan had listened to his alarm go off. It was just another beautiful morning, or at least that is what he told himself every morning as he got ready for the day. It was only a matter of time before AP got wind that he betrayed and that TRS would find out that he had information about AP that he was unwilling to share. He slowly sat up in the bed, stretching before standing up. He'd then go into the bathroom to shower, coming out a few minutes later with a brush in his hand as he brushed his wet hair into a ponytail. He would then open up his suitcase and pull out a fresh pair of clothes to put on before closing it back up. Inside the suitcase was a bag full of dirty clothes that he'd have to take to the laundry mat later for some washing. He would walk into the bathroom to brush his teeth before going back into the bedroom for his stuff. Once he was ready to leave, he'd exit the hotel bedroom. Just before his trip to Victoria, British Columbia, he had told his landlord that he'd be moving out. Thankfully it was month to month, giving a 30 day notice was the only thing required of him.
His reason, so that he could save his money and not have a bunch of stuff left in the apartment for the city to deal with if something were to happen to him. Oh no, he had something else planned out entirely. First thing he did upon giving his 30 notice was sell a bunch of his belongings. Only saving his clothes, ipod, cell phone and wallet. He had gone down to a lawyer to write out a will, it had confused the lawyer for why he chose to do it at such a young age, since he appeared healthy, as well as the fact he was sending all his money to a non relative. He had then gone up to Victoria, British Columbia, not planning a return trip because he knew despite his best efforts, neither one of them might make it out alive. Of course when all was said and done, Zeke had in fact come back alive and he had returned a few hours after him. Lying about being on vacation the whole time because he didn't want Zeke to know that he had been in Victoria, British Columbia. He slowly walked along the side walk, thinking about everything that had transpired over the last few years but most recently months.
It was a few minutes later that he had arrived down the street he had grown up on. Only moving away after his parents deaths because he couldn't afford the house but would be able to afford cheaper housing as soon as he sold the house and belongings that weren't of great value to him. Zeke's house came into view, he pulled his cell phone out. 'I'm here.' He texted, slipping the cell phone back into his pocket, he reached out, closing his hand into a fist before knocking on the door.
Light filtered through the small gaps in the blinds, revealing lazily floating dust particulars swirling through the room. The cheerful chirps of birds breached through the walls, alerting the dragon inside about the recent arrival of morning. Blinks were slow, bleary from the sleep difficulties he was frequently required to handle. Nightmares kept the ice dragon from sleeping without an extensive list of worries flitting through his mind, causing a mild fright. Head against the soft pillows of his bed, the man merely breathes, slow, calming and required.
[break][break]
A peaceful atmosphere surrounded him, yet, it failed to cease the darkness encroaching on his mind, threatening to manifest a terrifying reaction should precautions be neglected. Slowly, his hands splayed against the mattress covered in a soft sheet, arms easing him into a sitting position. Motions were steady, the dragon maintaining a peaceful state of mind. Slowly, his brown eyes flitted to the window, peeking through the blinds from a distance. Movements were subtle, hardly noticeable because of the small gapes from the lowered blinds.
[break][break]
Gradually, he reaches a sitting position, breathing steady, each breath focused on, assuring tranquillity's calming embrace would arrive. Quietly, the dragon kept his sitting position, eyes staring down at the clothing he wore as sleepwear; a simple white tank top and his boxers. Breathe, each morning, slow, steady, calm yourself for the day. The words of advice provided by those who cared about him rang through the dragon's mind. Each morning, he performed the suggestions, using it to mentally prepare himself for the day.
[break][break]
Minutes of motionless breathing passed, the dragon slowly standing to gather his clothing from the nearby dresser. The weather was favourable today, weather reports stating it would be a beautiful summer day. Naturally, the dark-haired man chose clothing items best suited for the favourable weather. The folded articles of clothing were fetched, the dragon grabbing a tie-dyed shirt of varying colours and a pair of bootcut jeans. Smoothly, the tank top was pulled off his broad shoulders, the dragon casually throwing it onto his bed.
[break][break]
Beneath the white fabric which covered his torso was a variety of scars. Cursed weapons cutting through his skin, blood welling where lacerations were created. The abhorrent sensation of electricity rippling through his body, manifesting pain throughout him. Abruptly, the dragon's breathing quicken, however, he forcefully soothed each breath. After a few moments, he tugged on the tie-dyed shirt, the rainbow pattern being a suitable choice for the day's events. Carefully, he tugged up the pants, the man discovering a sensation of calmness from being unable to see a portion of the scars.
[break][break]
Since returning to Lorsette, Newfoundland, Zeke Durmont was an entirely different man after a traumatizing occurrence radically changed his personality. Courage disappeared, the dragon transforming into a timid shell of the incredible General Durmont who bravely assisted his troops in combat and saved citizens of Victoria, British Columbia. Once a hero transformed into a nobody unable to lift a sword against the forces of villainy. The experiences from his month of captivity from the Assembly of Phantoms left him broken, the haunting darkness known as PTSD maliciously lurking, waiting for its moment to strike.
[break][break]
Alas, things were gradually improving, the constant support from his family assisting in allowing Zeke to recover from the traumatic experience. While the darkness would always lurk within the pits of his mind, genuine efforts were being accomplished to improve the situation, although, a single person assisted Zeke immensely. Upon returning, the dragon began reconnecting with his childhood friend, the comfort of Kiernan's familiar face becoming a soothing sight for the former general. A majority of his spare time would be spent conversing with the kitsune, the exposure to his close friend improving his mood drastically.
[break][break]
A soft smile breached the dragon's face, today's plan gleefully filling his mind with better thoughts. The arrival of June heralded a parade in support of the infamous Pride Month. On this gorgeous summer day, he would gain the honour of spending the day with his beloved friend. Joy overwhelmed Zeke at the thought of spending his day with Kiernan, allowing for those dreadful thoughts of his experience in BC to briefly dissipate. For years, the pair were separated, but their recent re-connection began surfacing those intense emotions of affection towards the kitsune.
[break][break]
Inaudibly, the dragon sighed, praying he would eventually be capable of confessing his passionate affection to the attractive kitsune. Alas, thoughts of potentially beginning a relationship were halted by the hectic nature of Zeke's current life. Changes were constant, the former TRS hunter attempting to calmly transition his children into his parent's home. The recent death of Sophia resulted in Emily and Lucas being flown down to Lorsette to live with him, however, he oftentimes worried he would fail to provide the stability needed to raise his children.
[break][break]
Currently, the transition was proving to operate smoothly, Zeke remaining home whenever his children were. The expectations of a parent weighed heavily on the dragon's shoulders as he attempted to provide emotional support while struggling with his own feelings. Alas, life was required to proceed, Zeke finally gaining the nerve to leave his children in their grandparent's care, however, it took an extended period of time for the dragon's constant fretting to cease. Slowly, the former TRS agent reached for the door, exiting his bedroom.
[break][break]
The soft trickling of water from a sink reached his ears, the dark-haired man entering the kitchen shortly. Humming an old lullaby, his guardian mother, Fiona, lingered near the sink, cloth carefully washing dishes. The sounds of footsteps prompted her to glance over her shoulder, a broad smile touching her lips.
[break][break]
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" She inquired, voice soft and soothing.
[break][break]
"Eh, better than I have been," Zeke admitted in response. "Did you?"
[break][break]
Strength was provided to his mother's smile, the woman nodding in response. "I slept fine. You'll be spending the afternoon with Kier, right?"
[break][break]
A smile graced Zeke's lips as he nodded in response to his mother's inquiry. The gentle chime of Kier's text tone echoed through the kitchen, the dragon glancing briefly at the screen. Afterwards, the text was followed by the rhythmic knocking which heralded his friend's arrival. Wordlessly, Zeke reached for the doorknob, the cool handle a comfort for the ice dragon. The knob was twisted, the door quickly yanked open as excitement coursed through Zeke's veins. Upon opening the door, a broad smile stretched across the dark-haired man's lips.
[break][break]
"Good morning," he greeted, opening the door wider to invite his friend inside. "How did you sleep?"
[break][break]
The slightest hints of concern touched Zeke's voice when he inquired about Kiernan's sleep. His long-term crush was incredibly important in his life, the dragon always fretting over the long-haired man's safety. Their relationship involved an extremely tight bond, the childhood spent in innocent bliss manifesting a seemingly never-ending connection between them. Those feelings were immortal, the dark-haired man praying he would eventually be capable of confessing his deep emotions about Kier. Undoubtedly, Kier was Zeke's first love, those rumours from his high school days long becoming nonsensical words to the dragon's ears; he was foolish for believing them. Should Kier enter the house, Zeke would promptly close the door behind him to keep the cold air in.
Kiernan watched as the door opened shortly after he had lowered his hand from knocking, there stood Zeke, his childhood friend, wearing a wide smile on his lips. "Good morning." He greeted in return, out of everybody that he had met over his years, the only one he cared to get close with was standing before him, he meant every word that he spoke to Zeke or at the very least, for his belief of benefit towards him. "I slept good." He answered, thinking to himself. As good as it will get, I suppose. Of course he planned on keeping those thoughts to himself as long as possible, "How did you sleep?" The door was held open for him, though he knew that Zeke was concerned over his sleep, he knew that the person that needed the most concern was Zeke, if it hadn't been for his friend being captured, he wouldn't be suffering from ptsd right now. He walked forward, slipping passed Zeke to walk inside the house so that his friend could close the door. As always, being in this house was comfy, maybe from the temperature but he'd argue because he had the honor of being so close to his friend.
He was grateful that the subject had dropped when he had claimed to be on vacation. He didn't want Zeke to have to worry about his whereabouts, that wasn't to say his friend hadn't, it was just that he hadn't continued asking him questions about it, allowing him to believe the subject had been dropped once and for all. Ever since coming back to town, he didn't waste any time spent with Zeke, knowing that any day could be his last. Not because Zeke was likely to be harmed again but because he had a deep dark secret. He had once been AP, but shortly after finding out Zeke had been captured, he had gone out of his way to save him. If that wasn't betrayal enough, he had also managed to find out some top secret information regarding where Zeredah would be next. Of course having a schedule meant things might change but seeing as they weren't in direct contact with Zeredah it wasn't likely going to be found out in time for her schedule to change. Meaning, he would be a dead man as soon as they found out but first torture because he needed some punishment for betraying them in the first place.
Of course he had decided that he would accept those consequences, just praying he would be there in time to save Zeke live. Finding Zeke in that state, had terrified him. He was scared that he had been too late to save his friend, but upon Zeke being taken to the hospital, he had been assisted to the point of survival. Now all that was left to do was enjoy the little time that he had left with Zeke before it was all over. He paused in the living room, trying to refrain from appearing anything but happy to be here. He wasn't terrified to die, though being tortured was far from being on his bucket list. He was however fearful of how Zeke would cope with the idea of him being gone. After they reconnected, he found his heart breaking at the thought of ever having to part ways with him ever again. He just didn't want to do so, it was selfish but that it how he felt on the matter. However, he wasn't willing to put Zeke at risk for having to part ways.
He had decided to handle AP himself. Though in doing so, it meant to never be caught by TRS because if that day ever came, Zeke would surely despise him for being AP, even if had betrayed them. They did after all, capture and torture him to the point of feeling no safety. He was pulled from his thoughts, always guilty of having moments of zoning in and out of them, but only when a conversation had turned into silence for one reason or another. It was very easy to distract himself on Zeke when he had a conversation going on with him.
Long, dark hair, grey eyes and a slender frame, Zeke easily recognized the man he mentally referred to as his calm. Whenever ill-favourable circumstances manifested intense emotions of anxiety, the dragon always discovered a soothing sensation transcending over him because of Kiernan's comforting words. Since the short-haired man's abrupt return from British Columbia, the kitsune's friendly, familiar face was always around for emotional support. His childhood friend and long-term crush brought forth the stabilization the former General required after his brutal torturing.
[break][break]
Radical improvements to Zeke's emotional state began when the re-connection process started between the pair. Their intense closeness through childhood was rebuilding, providing the dragon with an overwhelming sense of happiness. Supportive comments, helpful friends and relatives, it was everything the former General suffering from PTSD could desire. The smiling faces of those who cared provided relief from the mental weights created from the torture he underwent. Witnessing a wide grin stretch across Kiernan's face brought immense joy to Zeke.
[break][break]
There was a special quality to Kier's smiles which resulted in flutters occurring in the dragon's heart. Smiles enhanced the slender man's incredible beauty, Zeke finding himself unable to glance away. Immediately after viewing the long-haired man's grin, the dragon's broadened. There were plenty of sacrifices Zeke was willing to make to witness the corners of Kiernan's lips tug back into a smile. Those including laying down his own intense feelings towards his long-time crush to warrant him happiness with somebody else; he merely desired for Kier to be happy.
[break][break]
The reciprocation of the sleeping question always managed to surprise Zeke, an unnoticeable hint of red embracing his cheeks from the consideration Kiernan returned. Once his friend entered the home, the dragon closed the door behind him, locking the cool temperature inside.
[break][break]
"I've been sleeping better, so I can't really complain," Zeke answered. Afterwards, a soft mumbled followed, "God, I thought I would never get a good night's rest again."
[break][break]
Shortly after the horrific incident, Zeke's slumbers were plagued by traumatizing nightmares from the event, each evening promptly being consumed by his paranoid thoughts. He feared sleep because of the helplessness forced upon him the instant he crossed into the realm of dreams. Alas, the supportive influence from his loved ones eventually assisted in creating a calmness during sleep hours, allowing the dragon to finally rest as needed. Unfortunately, he always found himself struggling to cease those frightful thoughts, thus delaying his slumber.
[break][break]
Briefly, Fiona glanced over her shoulder, ignoring the dishes to flash Kiernan a friendly smile. Even she appeared content with witnessing the long-haired man return into Zeke's life.
[break][break]
"Good morning, Kier," she began before a soft laugh escaped her mouth. "You've been coming over so often you might as well live here.
[break][break]
The simple teasing remark manifested a shade of embarrassed red onto Zeke's cheeks. Blood pooled into them, generating an uncomfortable warmth as the flustered dragon hastily glanced away. While his mother's comment was entirely innocent, the broad-shouldered man constantly wondered if she was secretly privy to his intense emotions towards Kiernan. There was plenty of teasing remarks hidden in her arsenal, yet, none outright implied the possibility of sparking an intimate relationship with his close friend.
[break][break]
Evidently, Fiona either failed to detect her son's flustered state or simply ignored it as she rinsed the final dish, carefully setting it onto the drying rack. There was a subtle clink as the porcelain plate softly collided with the other dishes evident on the rack. A lip-tight grin remained evident on his mother's face as her hands rubbed into the t-towel she held, thoroughly drying them after being submitted to the soapy depths. Once finished, the towel was casually hanged on a small hook inside one of the cupboards.
[break][break]
"Anyways, do you boys need breakfast before the parade? I can make you some if you want," Fiona offered while she closed the cupboard door.
[break][break]
Subtly, one of Zeke's brows lifted in thought, his mind immediately bringing his children to mind. Admittedly, the dragon believed his mother would wait until the kids roused from their slumber.
[break][break]
"Don't you want to wait until Emily and Lucas are awake?" He inquired softly.
[break][break]
"I can make you boys something small," she explained, maternal requirements shining.
[break][break]
The dragon's brown eyes flitted between his mother and Kiernan because of his lack of preference. There was plenty of time for himself and Kiernan to stop at a restaurant and order some breakfast or patiently wait for his mother to begin cooking. However, Zeke despised placing too much work on his mother's shoulders when he was capable.
[break][break]
"Well, Kier and I could go out and eat or I could make something. Don't you have a few things to do, mom?" Zeke casually answered.
[break][break]
A soft chuckle escaped the guardian's lips as her smile broadened. "You're going to be stubborn about this, aren't you?"
[break][break]
There was a soft, brief laugh which escaped the dragon's lips as he nodded in response. After witnessing the answer, his mother smiled, shaking her head before leaving the kitchen to proceed with morning chores. Once she left the room, Zeke's eyes briefly gazed over Kiernan, shortly retreating as bashfulness consumed him.
[break][break]
"Soooo... diner or cooking?" Zeke asked, a smile evident on his face.
[break][break]
Choice mattered little to Zeke, his happiness being secured because of Kiernan's presence. He loved the long-haired man, the positive influence he provided constantly soothing him; he would go anywhere with him so long as his children could join them.
Kiernan was pleased to hear that Zeke had been sleeping better, proving to mean it with his last comment, though mumbled was able to be heard because he stood nearby him. He noticed Zeke's mother looking their way, "Good morning." He would answer in return before blushing slightly from her innocent comment. He knew that he was unworthy of such an honor but he couldn't bring himself to counter. He hadn't noticed Zeke blush because he had glanced away when he had looked his direction after trying to calm himself so that he wouldn't appear as embarrassed as he currently felt over the innocent suggestion. She would then proceed to finishing the dishes, before offering to make them breakfast. He always found her so kind with making them breakfast, but he honestly didn't want to be any trouble for her. He remained quiet, unsure on how to go about politely excuse himself from such wonderful things. Zeke's comment interrupted his thought process and instead of making a comment he remained quiet as if it were a good idea. Zeke was looking at him, he shrugged, not having much of a preference either way. He blushed when Zeke had suggested making something for them so that his mother wouldn't have to do it.
He glanced away, as thoughts started to wander in his mind. What once was him attempting to get out of Zeke's mother making him breakfast had turned into Zeke doing it, or taking them to dine instead. He knew he wasn't worthy of such kindness. He didn't get a chance to answer as Zeke and his mother continued talking before she left them to tend to other matters. Zeke asked him which he wanted, having that smile on his face as he did so. Kiernan wasn't sure how he would answer his question but then a thought crossed his mind. "How about we stay here...." He answered, not desiring to make Zeke pay for him. He pressed his fingers together before adding, "I'll just have cereal." It was small and affordable. Sure there were other things one could eat for breakfast but he had managed to dodge Zeke cooking for him and buying him food so as far as he was concerned he won. Now if you had told me that I'd be paying, I might have allowed us to go dine. I've never tried your cooking before but I can't cook so I wouldn't even be able to swap you roles there. He thought to himself, remaining quiet unless their was a need for him to talk. There was also the matter of Zeke would want to be around his children, it was great and all but he also felt a great need in having him not spend money if he could eat at home instead.
"So, what will you be having?" He asked in a teasing tone. If Zeke hadn't taken the chance to try and convince him cooking was fine before, perhaps he'd be given another chance. That is of course if he believed cereal wasn't a good enough breakfast for his darling Kiernan. He couldn't help but hope in the back of his mind that cereal for himself would be fine, not eating was an option too.
Eyes avoided Kiernan's when Zeke's mother decided to make her comment about his crush essentially living inside his home, alongside him. The mere thought of living with the kitsune flustered the dragon, his intense emotions towards the man reminding him how splendid it would be. Waking each morning in a shared bed, snuggling throughout the days and enjoying all their meals together. Those mundane discussions filled with playful remarks and those serious ones where they embraced tightly to remind one another of their love.
[break][break]
The blush increased as the short-haired man realized he was fantasizing about possessing an intimate relationship with his closest friend. Rapidly, Zeke’s heart was pounding, face heating up similar to a furnace as he realized his romantic fantasizing sparked during a horrible time. Oftentimes, he only warranted himself these thoughts in the evenings where it assisted in lulling him into a happy sleep. Alas, the dragon found himself longing for a reality where mutual love was evident between them and he could live alongside Kiernan.
[break][break]
Until the redness and heat finally dissipated, Zeke allowed his gaze to linger elsewhere, resulting in him completely missing Kiernan’s flustered state; the dragon was oblivious about his friend sharing similar emotions. Relaxation wrapped around the lovestruck dragon once he persuaded his mother to proceed with her chores. There were no doubts Zeke loved his mother, however, the former General feared she would potentially create another fluster-inducing comment. A broad grin stretched across the dragon’s face, excitement manifesting at the sheer thought of cooking for his adorable crush or purchasing breakfast.
[break][break]
The decision was made to remain at home, Zeke’s smile gaining power as he pondered what he Kiernan would potentially request, however, an anticlimactic choice escaped his crush’s sweet lips. Quickly, the dragon’s eyes widened, the man evidently bewildered by the rather meagre choice of food. Cereal, something Zeke frequently associated as a hastily made and eaten breakfast before work or school. There was nothing wrong with the breakfast food, but the former General knew it could never beat a complete breakfast with a mixture of foods.
[break][break]
The dragon was beaming at his crush, surprise became obvious by his expression. Perhaps the short-haired man was over-eager about the potential options. Admittedly, he enjoyed cooking immensely, and the notion of cooking for Kier filled him with joy. Never had he been capable of cooking a meal for Kier, thus he had been hopeful.
[break][break]
“Cereal? Are you sure? I can cook you just about anything Kier,” Zeke inquired, refusing to yield to a disappointed frown. “I mean… I’m a pretty good cook… and cereal is pretty small...”
[break][break]
A facade of acceptance breached his face, the timid man’s dreams of finally cooking for his beloved crush dashed in a few simple words. Wordlessly, he glanced around the kitchen, debating his own meal after Kiernan’s choice of cereal; Zeke never thought he would make a temporary enemy of cereal. The former General became clueless towards what food he desired. Decisions were placed in Kier’s hand, however, cereal not a pleasing option for Zeke. While he would devour a bowl on occasions, it was merely when there was limited time.
[break][break]
A question about his breakfast resulted in Zeke raising a brow in uncertainty; he genuinely was unsure what he wanted. Slowly, he was gaining ideas, but nothing remained solid. However, his uncertainties about Kiernan's choice prompted the dragon to ponder if cereal would be an adequate breakfast choice for this situation. Naturally, he desired his long-term crush to be comfortable and not forced to feel an empty stomach; a month of near starvation in the clutches of the Assembly made him aware of the horrid situations. Visibly, Zeke was attempting to keep his breathing tamed, a mere glance at Kiernan granting him some strength.
[break][break]
“Uh… Good question… I’m not too sure myself,” Zeke responded, a small laugh escaping his mouth. “Honestly, I was hoping you would pick something other than cereal… I mean… you chose what you want… I’m just… surprised… Are you sure that will be enough? I can make you something to go with it… I mean… We’re going out, so we will probably be on our feet all day.”
[break][break]
Persuasion appeared to be the only method to assure he could possibly cook for Kier and avoid his crush eating too little. They would be walking around and standing throughout the day, making breakfast a crucial meal to stave hunger. While he patiently waited to assure his persuasion would work, Zeke glanced around the kitchen, gradually creating a plan for a suitable breakfast.
Kiernan was amused at Zeke's face expression. He knew that he'd likely be surprised by his action and frankly he had done it on purpose for that exact reason, the other reason was because he didn't want to trouble Zeke for having to worry about him, unaware they liked each other. Zeke asked him if he were sure, No. He thought to himself, nodding and choosing to remain silent as to avoid changing his mind on the subject. "I believe it." He answered with a smug grin on his face, purely for the sake of teasing him. "Is it now?" He asked in return, feeling a great need to be in a playful mood, unable to stop himself. "In all honestly, I'm sure." He added, as to avoid trying to let Zeke believe he had changed his mind. Having Zeke cook for him was tempting, though he got the pleasure of seeing Zeke look around the kitchen, appearing in defeat and it amused him.
He had redirected the question right back at him, awaiting his answer. He chuckled when Zeke admitted that he wasn't sure. "Oh?" He asked in a teasing tone, once more unable to help it. I need to stop it, he had a wife for goodness sake. He wouldn't be interested in me, I'm only a friend. He thought to himself, trying to figure out how to correct his sentence. "I'm positive." He confirmed his choice of having cereal, secretly regretting the idea of not allowing Zeke to just cook for him. Though watching Zeke looking around the kitchen again, he found himself once more regretting it, more now then he had before since it was in fact going to be a small breakfast with a long day in store for them. "Anything?" He asked after a moment, once more finding himself in a teasing mood, though he was also interested in what Zeke had in mind over being stubborn with eating small.
Prayers fluttered through Zeke’s head, his hopes fixated on the notion of cooking for his darling Kiernan. The incredible long-haired man assisted with his emotional mending since he returned from British Columbia. Supportive, stabilizing and benevolent, Kiernan easily created a requirement to display how appreciative he was for his crush's time. Surprise conquered his expression, the dark-haired dragon attempting to keep his disappointment about possibly losing the opportunity to cook for Kiernan. Persuasion became his only solace, the only thing which could potentially allow the desired outcome to surface.
[break][break]
Finally, Zeke's eyes ceased their seemingly endless wander around the kitchen for a breakfast idea. They returned to Kiernan's face, easily detecting the amusement in their expression. A few moments later, a broad smile curled onto the dragon's face when his close friend began playfully teasing him about his decision to have cereal. The smug grin stretching across his crush's face explained everything, prompting a soft laugh. The dragon nodded in response to the kitsune's question, however, there were subtle hints of concern rising.
[break][break]
The insistence to merely have cereal fractured Zeke's smile, the corners of his lips soon dropping into a frown. Incessantly, the dragon would worry about his closest friend. It was a natural instinct after loving him for an extensive period of time; Kiernan stole his heart years ago. The soft chuckle after admitting his uncertainties about what he would consume resulted in Zeke's eyes flitting to his crush's face. A gentle sigh escaped the dragon's lips as the long-haired man appeared to finalize his choice of food.
[break][break]
Briefly, the dragon glanced back towards the cupboards, wishing Kiernan had decided to eat something more filling for breakfast; he feared his crush would grow hungry. Moments later he heard a single word escape his crush's mouth, Zeke's heart skipping a beat as he quickly turned around and nodded eagerly.
[break][break]
"Of course! I've never gotten to cook for you... and I... really wanted to," Zeke quietly admitted. "It's just... you've helped me so much... and I want to show my appreciation..."
[break][break]
Dreams could potentially be answered, although, the dragon feared he would unintentional guilt trip Kiernan into picking a different food. The endless appreciation was only one of the motivations Zeke held for desiring to cook for the long-haired kitsune. Intense emotions of love were felt towards the wonderful man, and the dragon wished for just an instance where he could play house and cook for Kiernan. Joy transcended over Zeke at the prospect, thus the former general was praying his crush would warrant him this action.
[break][break]
Everything this magnificent man accomplished for him deserved rewarding. The eternal gratitude Zeke felt towards his crush inspired these requirements to demonstrate it through any means necessary. Besides, Kiernan's return to the dragon's life spared him from the depressing emotions and anxieties which constantly plagued it. Imaginary centuries passed since Zeke felt security and safety, but the supportive kitsune provided those emotions daily. There were no words which could describe the former general's thankfulness for Kiernan's consistent encouragement.
Kiernan couldn't help but ponder the idea of Zeke getting to cook for him. "You do?" He asked, feeling his cheeks warming slightly. Oh.... maybe that was his reason. He thought to himself, unaware that Zeke loved him too. "Then I suppose toast is out of the question...." He teases playfully, figuring that since Zeke wanted to cook, it would defeat the purpose by giving him something as easy as that. Slowly he would move closer to Zeke, perhaps a bit too close for comfort but his friend failed to point it out to him. "I'll have what your having." He whispered, poking him in the chest playfully. Well that likely just complicated things, seeing as Zeke was still trying to decide what to eat himself. Then he goes around, teasing him. Though despite his teasing, he couldn't help but feel slightly ashamed in the back of his mind. Here Zeke was, offering to cook for him and yet he was giving him such a hard time when cereal should have been good enough and if needing more food, toast being added on. He didn't deserve such kindness from his friend, not having betray him by joining AP in the first place.
It was a struggle, refraining from confessing those feelings. But he was reminded if Zeke knew, he likely would cause an anxiety attack and he couldn't bare the thought of losing him when they reconnected after Zeke had returned home. It was selfish, but he wanted to cling for as long as possible, promising himself if the day were to come where he'd have to let go, he would do so for the sake of Zeke. That included AP possibly going after Zeke since he was freed, or going after him because they figured out what he did or knows. He never volunteered such thoughts, trying to push his worries in the back of his mind, not wishing to talk about such things since he knew if asked he would struggle with dodging such questions since lying wasn't an option. He glanced around the kitchen, figuring it would be best for him to do something besides standing around in these unwanted thoughts.
So with him cooking, I should find something to do. He thought to himself, moving towards the sink, he peeked inside, being reminded Zeke's mother just finished doing the dishes, leaving him nothing to do but stand there awkwardly.
Intense desires to cook a proper meal for Kiernan filled Zeke's mind. For centuries, the ice dragon found himself permanently love-struck by the magnificent kitsune. Astounding, pleasant, supportive and sweet, Kiernan meant everything to the former general. It was everything he required throughout these difficult months battling his inner demons; his post-traumatic stress disorder which he was learning to cope with. As a result, the dark-haired dragon clung to his long-term crush, the emotional support given by Kiernan becoming something he depended on.
[break][break]
The instant his desire was questioned, Zeke hastily nodded, yes, to display his wishes to cook for his beloved crush. Providing for Kiernan, it was something the dragon fantasized about playing the helpful husband to the kitsune he adored for centuries. Fears of never losing his closest friend because of the feelings he harboured made him cling to the opportunity to play house and cook for the man he loved. The frown broke into a small smile when Kiernan playfully teased him about toast was out of the question.
[break][break]
"Yes... yes it is," he softly laughed.
[break][break]
The playful teasing was welcomed by the dragon, his heartbeat soaring because of the over-zealous emotions overflowing in his body. Happiness flowed through his veins, the excellent opportunity to cook a meal for Kiernan manifesting excitement alongside millions of ideas for a proper breakfast. Promptly after their agreement, Kiernan stepped surprisingly close and poked his chest and playfully declared he would eat whatever he planned on having. Complaints about the closeness never escaped Zeke's lips, his affectionate feelings towards Kiernan resulting in enjoyment being created from their close proximity.
[break][break]
The intense joy was overflowing, the dragon not concerned about Kiernan's decision to avoid choosing the food; all that mattered was the opportunity handed to him. Abruptly, Zeke's arms reached out to embrace his long-haired crush, a broad smile stretching across his lips as he gently squeezed the man.
[break][break]
"Thank you! Thank you so much, Kier!" He exclaimed excitedly.
[break][break]
Rapidly, Zeke's heart pounded against his chest as the dragon became intoxicated by these positive emotions. Judgement was clouded for a moment as he happily embraced his closest friend. Seconds passed, awkwardness entering Zeke's smile upon realizing his exhilaration about providing Kiernan possessed him briefly. In a deliberate pace, the former general released his crush, hand reaching up to scratch the back of his head. Eyes flitted down towards the floor, embarrassment over his actions consuming his mind.
[break][break]
"S-sorry... I just... really wanted to cook for you," he mumbled, a nervous laugh proceeding his words.
[break][break]
Slow breaths were accomplished, in, out, just breathe, calm yourself, it is okay. These soothing actions were frequently completed during situations where anxieties entered his mind. Bashfully, Zeke turned away from his crush, glancing around the kitchen before glancing over his shoulder.
[break][break]
"A-anyways... how about eggs, bacon, toast and hashbrowns? That will fill you plenty," he inquired softly. "Also, what would you like to drink?"
[break][break]
Items were grabbed to proceed with the cooking, frying pans were procured from the kitchen drawers, one more the eggs and another for the bacon. The burners were turned on, the frying pans placed on top for the purpose of assuring the metal would be appropriately heated. Afterwards, he turned to grab the ingredients from the refrigerator, placing a carton of eggs and a package of bacon.
[break][break]
"How would you-" the dragon paused when he noticed his friend awkwardly standing in front of the sink. A soft laugh escaped his mouth as he proceeded to speak. "What are you doing?"
[break][break]
An amused smile stretched across the dragon's face at Kiernan's search to assist the situation. Softly, Zeke's fingers reaching to wrap around his close friend's wrist to lead him to the kitchen table. Instantly, his heart began skipping beats when he reached for his crush's wrist, the notion of subtly touching Kiernan manifesting a sense of nervousness. He adored this magnificent man, a slight redness touching Zeke's cheeks as he nervously glanced away from his crush, only returning his gaze when the warmth disappeared and his cheeks turned pale again.
[break][break]
"Just sit," Zeke insisted, planning to him to a chair. "I want to make you feel special... However... your job can be to keep me company while a cook... I need someone to talk to."
[break][break]
A slight hue of red graced Zeke's cheeks as he mentioned wanting to make Kiernan feel special. The endless love he possessed for the gorgeous man resulted in this deep desire to allow the kitsune to sit and wait for breakfast to be served. Being served a marvelous breakfast was a gift the former general believed his long-term crush deserved. This man assisted him with the alleviation of PTSD symptoms, allowing Zeke to slowly recover from traumatic events that transpired in his past.
Kiernan smiled when Zeke had nodded his head yes. He chuckled after playfully teasing him about toast. He then had moved closer to Zeke to poke his chest, being playful. Saying he'd eat the same as Zeke. He hadn't notice Zeke reaching out to hug him until it was too late. He pressed against Zeke, looking to the side as his face became flustered. Breathing slightly faster as he savored this long over due hug. It hadn't come as a surprise Zeke would hug him, they were best friends after all. He was just struggling with controlling his emotions on wanting to savor this hug longer. Zeke had squeezed him in this embrace, he quickly wrapped his arms around Zeke for the sake of enjoying it longer as he breathed faster, failing to notice Zeke was breathing fast too. He managed to calm his breathing, but no sooner had that happened that he felt Zeke releasing him, so he let go as well, slowly stepping away for some distance. Zeke scratching his neck nervous was viewed as adorable. "No worries." He answered, clearly forgiving. Though he was slightly disappointed that was the reason for the hug, hoping for more.
He found himself lost in thought, almost missing Zeke's comment because he had turned away from him. "Sounds good to me." He answered him in return. "Also water is fine." He answered, sometimes going between milk, orange juice, or water, depending on his mood. Even apple juice was an option, though the other three were more often the choices he picked between. Chocolate milk was another favorite but that was normally later on in the day. Zeke had started grabbing supplies and he had made his way to the sink, trying to find something to do to help. Zeke had caught him and he found himself flustered all over again. He looked down as he tried calming himself so that hopefully Zeke wouldn't catch him. "I wanted to help." He mumbled, still looking over the sink as he hid his face from view. He was unaware of Zeke having an amused smile on his face, but couldn't help but imagine it, becoming more flustered in the process. He felt Zeke's hand wrap around his wrist, pulling him away from the sink.
He looked at the ground as he followed, appearing ashamed he couldn't help. Really it was to avoid his face being noticed as flustered. He would look towards Zeke, noticing him not staring, giving him a chance to calm himself so that he was no longer flustered as he followed him to the table. He took a seat and playfully pouted at Zeke. "But...." He started, only to go quiet when Zeke explained how he wanted him to feel special and how he could talk to him while he cooks. He looked away, once more feeling his cheeks become warm, flustered from Zeke's comment. "Alright." He answered in return, glancing back at Zeke, hoping that his pink cheeks faded back to normal. "But I call dibs next time." He counted, wanting Zeke to know that he'd return the favor in the near future and he'd just have to wait and see when that would be. "So tell me about your morning." He was clearly interested in hearing all about Zeke, including his dailies.
Those few moments where Kiernan's body was pressed against his felt precious. Warmth shared between physical contact, the comfort of embracing somebody he cared deeply about, and finally, the hug's reciprocation as the kitsune's arms wrapped around him. Everything he dreamed about presented itself in those few moments, the chance to tightly embrace Kiernan and to play husband. Gaining this incredible opportunity sparked emotions of intense happiness as the corners of his lips curled up into a broad smile.
[break][break]
Inside the dragon's chest, his heart fluttered wildly in bliss over their close proximity. Unfortunately, their awkwardly long hug between friends eventually ended. The signs of mutual feelings went unnoticed, Zeke becoming more concerned with his own rapid breathing and excitedly beating heart. The forgiveness allowed the former general's eyes to briefly flit towards Kier, a faint redness stretching across his cheeks. The moment Kiernan provided his drink answer, Zeke smoothly grabbed a tall, glass cup from the cupboard and filled it with water before setting it onto the table for him.
[break][break]
Carefully, the dragon's fingers were wrapped around the glass, softly setting it onto the kitchen table, a gentle clink entering the room as the item was set down. Briefly, attention was stolen from making breakfast, the former general's attention fixating on his precious friend. Help was offered, Kiernan clearly wishing to make himself useful opposed to sitting nicely and waiting for breakfast to be served to him. A soft laugh escaped when he noticed his crush staring at the sink. Once he managed to settle the kitsune at the kitchen table, Zeke proceeded to smile at him.
[break][break]
"How about... when I finish cooking, you help me with dishes? Then we can leave after their done," Zeke offered with a reassuring smile. "We can work together."
[break][break]
Witnessing his long-term crush glance away when he insisted to make him feel special manifested a broad smile on Zeke's face, his cheeks still containing a subtle hue of red. Softly, the dragon began releasing Kiernan's wrist, his finger's softly brushing against the kitsune's hand; it was difficult to resist. Everything he desired in a significant other was perched before him. For years, Kiernan was the individual he wanted to date and display his endless affection for, however, the dragon's concerns over rejection kept him silenced.
[break][break]
Time was what Zeke required, minutes to gain the courage to confess his true feelings for the extraordinary man who stole his heart during their childhood. Redness touched the former general's cheeks when Kiernan promised to return the favour. For a moment, Zeke's brown eyes gazed into his crush's magnificent grey ones, holding there briefly before he bashful glanced away. Slowly, a smile touched the dragon's lips, surprise fading into a content countenance.
[break][break]
"I... I would like that," he murmured softly.
[break][break]
Hesitance marked Zeke's movements when he finally pulled away from Kiernan to start their breakfast. A brief smile was flashed at his long-haired man before he returned to his cooking. Bacon was placed into the pan, the sizzling sounds of breakfast being cooked filling the kitchen.
[break][break]
"How do you like your eggs and bacon, Kier?" Zeke inquired as he opened the egg carton.
[break][break]
Once provided an answer, he began making the eggs and bacon the way his crush enjoyed him; Zeke was never picky about food preparations. Widened eyes displayed surprise when Kiernan inquired about his morning, a warm smile appearing on his lips.
[break][break]
"It hasn't been bad... Had a bit of... a moment, but nothing really bad. Just... got dressed and cleaned up, nothing really eventful." Zeke explained, vaguely hinting at the dark thoughts which quickened his brief while he changed clothes. "It was mostly boring stuff... How was your trip over here?"
[break][break]
As the bacon and eggs cooked, Zeke moved to enter the pantry, grabbing the air fryer and setting it onto the counter. Afterwards, he grabbed hash browns from the freezer, this particular brand was shaped in fairly large circles compared to average. Smoothly, he dumped a few into the fryer, twisting the knob once everything was settled into it. Excess ingredients were put away, Zeke grabbing the plates as he ignored thoughts of his brief encounter with those dark thoughts. Avoiding them was impossible, but occasionally, the dragon would occupy his mind with other activities to defend himself from the debilitating memories.
Kiernan had enjoyed that hug, thought he did guilty long for it to last a tad bit longer. Standing over the sink, lead to him wanting to assist Zeke, anything would do. He also enjoyed his wrist being held when Zeke had lead him to the table to take a seat. He perked up when Zeke offered a proposal. How after they ate they could go to the sink to do dishes with each other. "I'd like that." He answered him in return, feeling slightly flustered all over again. "Of course we can't rush our eating, slow helps one become full faster." He answered, of course he wasn't in a rush to finish dishes either, since it meant being with his Zeke during the whole chore. Once more he felt guilty in desiring their contact to not part ways. Shivering slightly when Zeke's fingers had brushed against his hand before letting go completely. He had promised to return the favor, quite pleased when Zeke had told him that he'd like that. "Good, because no wasn't an option." He teased playfully, thought was quite serious on the subject. Zeke had walked away to prepare the food, asking him how he liked his cooked. "Scrambled and just the usual...." He wasn't aware anything special could be done to his bacon. He found himself listening to the sounds of Zeke preparing his food.
Breaking the silence he asked Zeke about his morning, listening as he explained it. "I see." He answered in return, only for the question to be redirected at him. "It was alright, just the usual." He answered, leaving out the part about feeling guilty about his past, mostly a few months ago. "Sounds like your morning desired one hell of a hug." He teased playfully, knowing Zeke loved those. If it wasn't holding his hand to lead him somewhere, it was a random hug, of course he was guilty of starting those hugs as well. He couldn't help but feel jealous the food was getting Zeke's attention instead of himself. Thankfully that once this was over, they'd be able to go to the parade. "How about a vacation, just you and me?" He asked, feeling brave right at the moment. He was positive that he could protect Zeke from anybody that attempted to come at them. "Like a spa, or hot spring...." He added, "Or something." He didn't want to be the only one suggesting places. He went silent, pondering if there would have been a better way to ask Zeke, seeing as that would mean leaving his children with his parents for now. Giving him a selfish excuse to spend time with Zeke alone.
We are only friend's. I'll have to accept that.... but I think my teasing is harmless. He thought to himself, knowing that since Zeke had dated a girl, having children with her, that he likely wasn't interested in him because he was well a boy. He attempted to push those unsettling feelings from his mind as he waited for Zeke to finish preparing breakfast for them. It was safe to assume that his children would be joining them. It wasn't a bad thing, he just was't used to being around them still. Mostly because he feared that he was a horrible person and they were well children, such delicate beings. Refusing to risk upsetting Zeke in the process if he could help it. Thoughts had crossed his mind upon meeting them the first time, it had been home promising to stay still only to flee into the bedroom to hide because he had lost his nerve with meeting them. He hadn't meant to possibly upset Zeke, it was just, they were children.
He hadn't really been all that excited when Zeke had mentioned them in the first place, hurt that he had chosen a woman instead of him. Upset with himself for failing to keep Zeke from leaving, or at the very least, failing to not join him. Children in general wasn't a bad thing, he just wished they weren't just Zeke's and his girl friend, he wished he could have been his first love. He wished that he could have been a parent to them too. But he also knew, AP would likely search him out and possibly even Zeke and he wasn't willing to drag more people into his problems. Silence had come between them. He was unaware if Zeke had attempted conversation or was in the middle of cooking because his mind was only focused on his thoughts, how things had turned out. He was happy that Zeke was back, but was upset that he wasn't the same child he used to be. He was upset that AP had hurt Zeke, wishing more than anything that he could have saved him before it had started.
Pleasant aromas filled the kitchen as Zeke steadily proceeded cooking their breakfast. The sizzling noises of grease accumulating in the frying pans and the steady, albeit, subtle clicks of the air fryer. Everything was operating as required to assure breakfast would be created on a timely basis. Excitement flowed heavily through Zeke's vein, a subtle skip to his step solely because he gained the opportunity to serve Kiernan breakfast. Hopes were fixated on the long-haired man enjoying the entirety of their breakfast.
[break][break]
Merely the thought of sitting beside his long-term crush and eating together made Zeke's heart soar wildly with excitement; better ways to enjoy breakfast were nonexistent. A refreshed smile gracing the former general's lips when Kiernan stated he enjoyed them doing dishes together. Those were a few more precious seconds together, talking and enjoying one another's company, furthermore, they would be completing a simple household chore; if only he gained the courage to ask Kiernan out... The companionship he received from the kitsune was unique and desirable, bringing forth intense sensations of happiness.
[break][break]
The shivers became evident when Zeke finally pulled away, fingers softly tracing Kiernan's hand, however, he was unable to admire the smoothness and beauty of touch. The specialized, magic-fueled prosthetic could accomplish wonders, but the sensation of touch was beyond its capabilities, yet, the feeling of pain was a plausible outcome; sometimes he thought this thing hated him... Metallic and cold, the prosthetic's inability to produce sufficient warmth alongside his affiliation with ice-based magic could have easily made Kiernan receive a chill.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, Zeke naively believed it was merely the prosthetic which manifested the shivers rather than the softness of his touch or possible enjoyment of it. A soft laugh escaped the dragon's lips at the kitsune's words of wisdom, there was never a need to rush.
[break][break]
"I would hope I would know that by now... Remember when I would shovel back food super quick just so we could go back to playing? I'm surprised I still don't have the hiccups!" A hearty chuckle leaving his mouth, the memories bringing Zeke a sense of joy.
[break][break]
Another soft laugh left Zeke's lips when Kiernan informed him there would be no other option than to accept reciprocation. Quickly, the dragon turned away, grabbing the spatula to scramble the eggs as Kiernan requested. The first spatula was placed down as Zeke grabbed the other to flip the bacon. There were no requests for the bacon to be crispier than usual, thus he merely proceeded to accomplish the average. Carefully, the spatula was placed down, Zeke grabbing some bread and popping it into the toaster.
[break][break]
There was a nod of acknowledgement when Kiernan stated his walk was alright, desperately attempting to push those fears down. Fortunately, a smile was created at the mentioning of requiring a warm hug that morning. A pleasant sense of warmth entered the dragon's heart at the thought of embracing Kier throughout their childhood. He was always considered a hugger, deriving pleasure in holding his best friend close.
[break][break]
"That... would have been nice... but... at least I got to hug you today," the dragons soft words stated. "That helped."
[break][break]
Gradually, the dragon proceeded with his cooking at a smooth pace. Occasionally, the air fryer's handle would be grabbed to shake the contents to avoiding sticking, eggs were moved about the pan, bacon adjusted and butter alongside a knife gathered for the toast. However, everything froze when Kiernan mentioned the possibility of a vacation, resulting in a wide-eyed Zeke providing the man with a majority of his attention. Already, his heart was racing, thumping against his rib cage in excitement over the offer.
[break][break]
Options were provided, but what activity was chosen hardly mattered to the dragon as other thoughts occupied his mind. Perhaps Kiernan owned mutual feelings? The offer suggested there was a chance, however, Zeke proceeded to fear he could be incorrect about his assumption but was there harm in trying once the opportunity presented itself?
[break][break]
"Sure, sounds like fun," the dragon answered, grinning like a love-struck fool. "Honestly, anything relaxing sounds wonderful after... um... what happened..."
[break][break]
The final words escaped his lips as a mumble, Zeke desiring to avoid those abhorrent thoughts of those months spent hidden away, facing horrors because of his rank. Gradually, breakfast was completed, the dragon briefly glancing over his shoulder to peek at a now silent Kiernan. Based on the kitsune's expression alone, he was deep in thought, thus he merely proceeded to finish the cooking. Two plates were retrieved from the cupboard and settled onto the counter, finished foods quickly being placed on top until everything was neatly arranged.
[break][break]
Appliances were turned off as foods finished cooking, the dragon assuring the notches of the oven were properly turned each time. Chances were, Emily and Lucas would sleep in considering it was a weekend they would be spending with their grandparents, although, Zeke would gladly continue cooking for his children. Slowly, the former general approached the table, frowning at Kiernan as he placed down the plates.
[break][break]
"You okay?" Zeke asked, gently touching his friend's shoulder after setting the plates down. "You look like you have something on your mind."
[break][break]
The inquiry was left to sit as Zeke turned to retrieve forks, setting one beside Kiernan's plate and another beside his own. Afterwards, he poured himself a glass of water, entirely avoiding his usual cup of coffee; caffeine never mixed well with anxiety. When everything was gathered, he sat beside his friend and prepared to enjoy the freshly made breakfast.
Kiernan could smell the aromas in the kitchen, making him feel so hungry. If it wasn't for the fact Zeke offered to cook for him, persuading him to change his mind, he would have had only cereal, still being hungry from the lack of filling and still continued to smell the aromas in the kitchen. Kiernan had stated that he'd enjoy doing dishes with him, the fact he'd get to be with Zeke was enough reason to do those chores. He wanted to be with Zeke as long as possible, knowing any day could possibly be his last if they found him. Zeke's smile made his heart melt, it had been a while since he had seen him smile. Thankfully it seemed each attempt he would receive a smile in return. Zeke being captured and becoming different thanks to the ptsd had changed him, but he still loved his best friend with all of his heart. His prosthetic hand had sent a chill in his hand, but he bared through it, wanting to remain as close as possible, he wasn't going to allow this change to push him away. He further commented about there being no need to rush. Amused when Zeke made his comment in return.
"Come now, I've noticed you've eaten slower." He teased him in return, aware they shared mutual feelings towards each other. Unaware that it was an attempt to remain nearby each other, of course he knew his feelings on the subject, just not Zeke's even thought there were plenty of chances to notice him blushing but he had failed to notice. He was quite pleased that he'd get to return the favor later and that there wasn't anything Zeke could do about it, or would for that fact. He was amused when he laughed to his comment, believing he had won. Zeke had turned away to start cooking the food, they had small talk about their morning before offering to go on vacation with each other. Kiernan found Zeke's face expression priceless. He listened, quite pleased when Zeke had agreed, though it seemed to turn to a reminder about the past. "I'll see if I can figure out a place and get back to you." He answered, wanting nothing more than for Zeke to be able to relax. It was shortly after that he had gone silent because he became stuck in his thoughts. Zeke continued cooking, Kiernan was unaware the food was almost done.
The hand touching his shoulder caused him to jump slightly as he came to realize that Zeke was paying attention to him. "Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine." He lied, knowing that Zeke would likely notice. "I just want to make sure you have the best vacation is all." He confessed, hoping that they wouldn't run into TRS or AP during the trip. He would glance back towards Zeke when he had left to grab forks. "I don't want you to have to worry about the what if's. In fact let me handle those." He answered, not trying to admit his goal in processing Zeke but frankly was planning on protecting Zeke. I won't let AP harm you ever again. He thought to himself, a promise that he planned on keeping to himself because they were only friends. He felt crushed at the idea of never getting to share his true feelings with Zeke. He would wait for him to join him back at the table. "Besides, after we get there, each morning I'll be able to hug you to cheer you up." He answered, thinking about how, hugs were allowed when ever Zeke wanted but he didn't dare to it without permission even though he knows Zeke was and likely still is, a hugger at heart. The fear of rejection kept him at bay.
For one, Zeke dated a girl and two, he'd likely want nothing more to do with him upon finding out he was AP. Even though he had betrayed them to save Zeke. Slowly he would lift his fork to his mouth to eat his food. The taste of egg went into his mouth, it was just so yummy. As much as he attempted to savor his food, hunger got the best of him and his plate was empty a few minutes later. "That was so good." He mumbled, leaning his back against the chair as he allowed the food to settle. He would then proceed to lifting the cup to his lips to drink some water. During my breakfast, I had time to decide what vacation we should go on. I'm going to look into the spa's first but if it seemed too booked, hot spring it will be. Though I am slightly nervous about joining him in the water. He thought to himself, flustered at the idea of Zeke seeing him. He would wait for Zeke to finish eating before slowly standing up to grab all the dishes from upon the table, before walking over to the sink to place them inside. As promised, they'd do dishes together. Then he'd book their plans so that the only thing left to do would be enjoying the parade in town.
