Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Spring, the season where life flourished as animals scurried through the underbrush and birds sung in the trees above. Calico Forest was alive with those musical chirps, Persephone finding comfort in the clean air and natural scents. A subtle wind rustled through the leaves above, light dancing through the shadows as the young nymph proceeded to walk down the dirt path. Everything felt alive, the gentle humming of forest life easily embracing the girl with calmness. The soothing atmosphere was welcomed after the seemingly endless amount of forced adjustments occurring in her life recently. Radical changes happened over the course of months, making Persephone uncertain on how exactly to process these recent affairs. The contrast between her previous crush and the monster she transformed into was nerve-wracking. No longer was there an innocent face to serve as a reminder about the world; how despite all the tragedies, there would always be light and innocence lurking somewhere.
A soft sigh escaped Persephone’s lips as her stone coloured eyes searched the canopy above. Birds frolicked freely, skipping and fluttering between the branches without care. Safety was granted amidst their treetop homes, limiting the amount of alertness in their actions. The slightest frown touched the blue-haired woman’s lips as she paused briefly, envying their offhanded attitudes. Relaxation eluded her nowadays, her thoughts about the circumstances surrounding her life... alongside... that bastard who continued pulling his puppet strings from a darkened corner. Despite the recent discovery, the malicious demon managed to remain hidden inside the vast buildings of Lorsette. Carefully, the young nymph proceeded forward, iron resolve consuming her mind as she kept her destination in mind. Since she was currently unable to seek him out, Persephone decided her time should be devoted to strengthening her abilities.
Undoubtedly, the demon who defeated her father was a powerful man, and the assassin needed to be prepared when the time arrived to launch her vengeance on the despicable man; all he did was take. There was a contrast between the nymph and the serenity of nature. Beneath her calm, albeit, sad exterior was intense anger towards the species which only destroyed everything she adored and depended on. Her iced over the heart was constantly shielded, Persephone's fist clenching as she diverged off the main path, heading into the thick trees. Senses were on high alert as the young woman proceeded down her path, prepared to handle anybody who could potentially cause her trouble. Smoothly, she navigated through the brush, the sounds of running water filling her years as she moved closer to her planned destination. Trees gradually cleared until they revealing a break in the forest, a river of water passing through.
She moved closer, inching towards the rocky river bed. For a few moments, she watched the water before backing away and kicking off her black shoes and rolling off the thin jacket she wore. Beneath revealed a navy-coloured tank top, a pair of black shorts reaching to her mid-thigh maintaining decency. The shoes were placed underneath a tree, the jacket carefully placed on one of the hanging branches above. There was a subtle waver to the branch, however, Persephone ignored it, turning back towards the running water. In her bare feet, she crossed through the grass, the blades tickling her calloused feet. She navigated the rocky riverbed cautiously, a breath being sucked into the depths of her lungs. The air was held before being slowly exhaled, the nymph's hands moving up as she began to fixate on the water.
Sharply, she moved her right hand, a tendril of water leaving the safety of the stream. It was drawn closer, Persephone focusing as she began quickly moving the water, forming more tendrils as time proceeded. They twisted around one another in spirals, heading towards the sky before rocketing down back to the riverbed. The movements of the nymph's body guided them, the assassin evidently enthralled by her craft. Hastily, the water moved towards the ground, bending at a 90-degree angle at the last second, Persephone bringing her tendrils closer after the meagre beginner lesson. There was plenty to do in her intense training regiment.
May was a good month for training. People were just starting to increase their hours, and most of the experienced staff had returned from vacation. (Nobody wanted to be in town in March. Ever.) Tally had taken the relatively stress-free day as an opportunity to take a mare whose owner suspected she would become an excellent trail horse out for a spin on her own. For once, she found that the owner had some good sense; her young pupil was considerably less skittish than most horses her age. With some work in the area, it might be worth it to rent this lady for the trail rides. She's such a sweetheart, too. Any way she goes, she'll be a wonderful ride. Once I'm through with her, anyway. Molly had a few bad habits, but Tally was convinced she had a fast learner on her hands. "Such a pretty girl," she murmured, patting the horse's neck. Molly took this as a cue to sneak some grass. ”Ah!” Tally grinned. "You know better!"
A sound from the side of the path caught her attention. That's right, the river is probably getting swollen by now... it's probably flooded some of the banks. I should see if she's water shy at all. Can't be worse than Cozy. She gently pulled Molly to a halt and dismounted, taking a second to stretch her legs. "What's that noise, bud? Wanna check it out?" she offered, looping the reins off her neck. "We are going to explore the Incredibly Terrifying Water, and you are going to be fine with it, because you're very brave and very good. And you're clever enough, not to mention. You will be very good, and very clever, and very brave. That's right!" she nodded enthusiastically as Molly tossed her head to remove a fly. "You are!" Tally grinned at the mare and started picking her way carefully over to the river. (Not that their progress was quiet — Molly had draft blood in her, and it showed in her tree-trunk legs and dinner-plate hooves.) Finally, they reached the bottom of the slope. Molly flicked her ears at the sound of the rushing water, but didn't seem ready to bolt. Oh, she’s definitely a keeper. Tally took a second to examine their surroundings, and was herself surprised to see a figure standing in the river a few yards down. Fishing? No… She watched the water tendrils dance, entranced by the show, then blinked. They know I’m here right? Should I say something? Oh, I probably should."That's, uh, very impressive!"Maybe something that isn’t that."Sorry, I didn't mean to, uh, interrupt..."
Enthralled entirely by her steady work with the water, Persephone proceeded to manipulate the tendril, the training exercise proceeding marvelously. Combat against the demon would prove difficult despite her advantage being water manipulation, and to an extension, holy water manipulation. These strict training regiments were required for success to follow behind her, thus she proceeded in her training. The tendrils rocketed towards her, surrounding her in several, thick bands of water; separation was a goal. They twirled around, hand movements nonexistent as Persephone focused, allowing tendrils to increase their speed. When the time finally arrived, the young water nymph would be expected to maintain separation between her holy water and regular water while manipulating at intense speeds. Diluted holy water would be unable to win her the battle, especially since this wretched man defeated her father.
Faster, the tendrils spun upward into the sky, mere inches away from their partners as they moved in sync. Commands were relayed through mental practice, everything occurring because Persephone willed it. Every skill required meticulous sharpening, including hand-to-hand, however, that would arrive later. Higher, faster, stronger. Words from a stranger prompted an instinctive reaction from the assassin, water returning to her side, manifesting a barrier. The lesson was abandoned in favour of creating the defence, the tendrils flowing together as a single force, Stone eyes narrowed as she turned towards the unexpected interruption, expression guarded and cold. Finally, her eyes analyzed the other person, an annoyed sigh escaping her lips when she found a woman and her horse. The water dribbled away, returning to the river bed it originally came from. A frown resulted in Persephone's lips drooping, the assassin mentally scolding herself for allowing this mysterious woman to sneak up on her.
"I do not recommend startling someone when they are using magic," Persephone responded coldly.
While the woman remarked about her craft being impressive, the interruption was unwelcomed by the nymph. Training for combat was serious, especially when one planned to battle against a powerful demon. Victory could only be promised through extensive and rigorous session, otherwise, death could easily knock on her doorstep. After cold-shouldering the stranger, Persephone crossed her arms, eyes remaining narrowed for a few moments at the pair before she turned back towards the currents. Ears were pricked, carefully listening for a possible approach should the female stranger and her horse approach in an attempt to create social contact. Slowly, water moved from the rushing river, flowing upwards and gathering into similar tendrils she created prior to her interruption. Obediently, the water listened to Persephone's demands, swaying and swirling as she prepared herself for the following pieces of her regiment.
Ah. Hm. That didn't. Go as well as she'd planned. Seeing the person form a shield around themself before answering sharply set Tess aback a bit. "I'm sorry," she offered genuinely. "I didn't... realize that was magic?"Shitshitshit."I. Mean. It doesn't look like the magic I'm... familiar with." Going against her nature, she walked closer, rationalizing it as training for Molly (who was handling this with remarkable decorum.) "I'm sorry for interrupting. Uh, if you want, we can go..." Her attention wanders, captured by the dancing streams. "It's just, well, it's very beautiful." She took a few more steps toward the stranger, treating them as she would a nervous animal. "I don't... I really don't mean to intrude, and I'm very sorry,"and I'm very stupid, and I shouldn't be bothering them, and I should head back to the trail,"but how are you doing that?" She prepared herself for a sharp retort, but how could she just leave when what the other person was doing was so cool??
Training left a tenseness to Persephone's mind, her fixation being completely on the upcoming battle she prepared for. Lacking the proper skills to carry out her missions would result in a premature death, thus the nymph merely returned to her regiment. Coldly, she ignored the woman and her horse after stating her words, expecting them to proceed on their merry way. Few people attempted conversation, one being a mysterious shifter who, similarly, disturbed her during a training session. Fluidly, her hands moved, dexterously guiding the water and preparing to perform her training exercise, however, the woman never moved. Inquiries about her magic were made, resulting in Persephone pausing and releasing an inaudible, annoyed sigh.
The conversation appeared to be the stranger’s desire, thus the assassin supposed she would indulge the young brunette. Briskly, the nymph turned to face the mysterious woman, a subtle narrowing to her eyes. While she was not offended by the comments being made, Persephone remained annoyed by the abrupt interruption. The water remained floating around the nymph, kept up from years of practice in dividing attention. The skill was complimented, the woman evidently having time to admire water manipulation. While the woman proceeded to speak, Persephone perched on the rock, crossing her legs and watching. Simultaneously, the water was returned to its home amidst the river bed. The question on how raised a brow for the nymph, the notion being unexpected.
"I'm a nymph," she explained. "Water to be specific."
The woman explained simply with no emotion touching her words. Once again, Persephone manipulated the water from the stream, displaying some of her capability. There was a pause, the nymph's mind churning a possibility as she engaged in conversation, however, she contemplated an offer which could provide both people their desires.
[ Sorry about that. >.> I know Percy isn't a people person, so she can make hard to have long threads. ]
"A water nymph?" Tally asked. They seem to be settling into the conversation, so... win?"I don't... Sorry, I'm not sure if this is rude? I don't think I've ever met a nymph before. My mom did practice magic though," she stumbled on. "I mean, as a witch. With a book, and charms, and things. I never really... never really had the hand for it. But it's not really anything like what you're doing, I mean. Which. Actually, what are you doing?" Tally asked, still forging onwards in her attempt for Good, Adult-Worthy Conversation. As she watched, she stripped Molly's bridle and clipped a lead rope to the mare's rope halter so she could graze a little, much to her delight. As Molly set to work on the grass, Tally smacked her forehead. "I'm sorry — I'm so rude, asking you all these questions without even so much as an introduction. My name is Tally. I work at the stable out that way."
Quietly, Persephone remained perched cross-legged on the cold, water-soaked rocked. Water residue coating the surface dampened her shorts, however, the water nymph felt comfortable despite it. As expected, water never bothered the short-haired nymph, her element always creating comfort whenever exposed. Even the coldest or warmest conditions failed to uproot Persephone’s easement around the enchanting liquid. Thus, she remained perched, stone-coloured eyes locked onto the mysterious woman and her horse, emotionless and cold as usual. Straight-backed, hands carefully folded in her lap as she attempted to maintain a professional composure. The motionless nature of her body contrasted the stream’s consistent trickle of movement and soft rustles of the trees. Nature was a pleasant comfort for Persephone in this situation as she attempted to maintain her calm composure during their interaction.
The woman's "inquiry" of her species made Persephone nod in response. Perhaps the question was rhetorical, however, the water nymph answered it anyways. She proceeded to ramble on about magic, specifically her mother's capabilities with it. An inquiry about what she was doing, an expected question to say the least. People were curious, questions being automatic in response to certain activities.
"Training," Persephone answered in a serious tone.
While she answered, the nymph's stony eyes observed as the woman allowed her horse to begin munching on grass. Grazing, an excellent pass time for larger animals. Afterwards, she apologized and provided her name, Tally, which meant reciprocation was an expectation in conversation.
"I'm Persephone," she reciprocated before adding, "but Percy would be fine."
A simple, emotionless interaction that was befitting of the prim, over-serious assassin. She avoided giving an occupation in her introduction, however, she already began prepping her lies. Detection would result in serious punishment which included jail time and possibly death by the hands of the Brotherhood.
