Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Autumn leaves littered the ground wherever somebody would walk as Lorsette gradually transitioned to winter. Trees became skeletons, their dark branches reaching towards the cloudy skies above. Sunlight was entirely blocked out from the thick clouds hiding away the azure skies above. A brisk wind blew through the city, embracing Nathan as he slowly walked down the sidewalks, hands shoved deep into his pockets. Around his wrist was a temperature regulation bracelet, the magically charmed jewelry allowing for the vampire to remain warm despite the cold autumn winds. Wrapped around his torso was an unaltered TRS uniform, the orange stripes signifying his position as a regular hunter. People could easily realize he was not among the elite based on his colours, however, Nathan did not care remotely. He believed he was plenty capable, the TRS officials probably being unable to realize how much he deserved the title of an elite hunter. Today would become merely another day of work as Nathan continued down the pathways to the TRS headquarters. Under most circumstances, the vampire would drive to work, but today he managed to get up in the early hours and had not enjoyed a pleasant walk in a while.
[break][break]
Gradually, he arrived at the front doors of the TRS headquarters, pushing through them into the main lobby. A quick wave was given to the secretaries before Nathan turned down the hallways to check the available missions of the day. On a large bulletin board was a variety of mission postings related to suspected terror activity in the mentioned areas. These were missions which did not require immediate attention, those who required more instantaneous fixation was given to trusted members via radio information. Quietly, the vampire glanced over the bulletin board, searching for a potential mission to accomplish before being placed on guard duty for the remainder of his shift. The green-haired hunter's yellow-green eyes scanned over the mission postings while his mind pondered recent events. Months prior he had been called into the TRS to be informed he would be given an apprentice to train, which was an annoying notion. The attitude he displayed apparently resulted in the foolish higher ups deciding he was deserving of some pathetic apprentice to train; worst of all, she was proving to be a handful. Fortunately, she had recently graduated which meant he would no longer be forced to handle her.
[break][break]
There was an annoyed frown on Nathan's face as he skimmed through the mission board, eventually finding one and plucking it off the board. The job appeared simplistic and based around the belief a troublemaker was wandering around the wilderness, particularly around Mount Skyline. Carefully, the vampire read through the synopsis, providing a nod of satisfaction before folding the slip and placing it into the depth of his TRS uniform coat. While he wished for a better mission to display his immense skill, the arrogant vampire wanted to complete his shift before heading home to spend time with his beloved Tristan. The beautiful man was an incredible individual, and Nathan always desired plenty of time around the wonderful blond, although, he worried about Tristan potentially getting hurt. After being informed about the blond man signing up to become a TRS scout, the green-haired man constantly concerned himself about his health. Arms went to the sky, the green-haired man stretching his arms and shoulders before glancing around to check for anybody else who could have potentially entered the area. There was still an identity to maintain, a sadistic mask which allowed him to frighten everybody around him.
Silas had rejoined the TRS back in July, but having found himself struggling with the ropes just a tad bit, he found himself choosing to teleport a lot of the time instead of walking everywhere, making it nearly impossible to keep tabs on him unless you knew exactly where he was going. It was already Autumn and he couldn't help but feel somewhat surprised that he had managed to live this long. Those people hadn't managed to find him to kill him again and that girl that he found out was his younger sister? She normally kept to herself too, meaning he got Umberto all to himself when his husband wasn't busy babysitting his younger sister. Which meant that he spent his time training at HQ so that he could become the old elite hunter that he used to be.
Thankfully upon joining, they had been assigned another unit so he had managed to dodge that woman who had so rudely thrown the trash can at him when she had found out he was alive. There were quite a few people that seemed to know him and yet to his disappointment, his memory hadn't returned on who exactly they were. Thankfully they hadn't attacked him for it, seeming to understand his frustration of being unable to remember. There was even an old man that wasn't apart of his unit that seemed interested in his well being. He wasn't completely sure who that man was or his relationship to him, but just like always, he remained polite and went on his way. Grateful for some assistance but wanted to try and get the hang of this by himself.
At least then if he were to run into those horrible people once again he'd hopefully be able to defend himself. He had come in early today for some training before changing into his TRS uniform so that he could take on a mission. As of the last few months, he had been taking the easier missions as to help himself get used to the tasks again but now he wanted something a little more difficult. He walked slowly down the halls, heading towards the location that held the lovely bulletin board with all the missions listed on it. Nathan was there, too bad for him, he honestly couldn't remember their relationship else he would have greeted his favorite apprentice and mentioned how he was in fact alive this whole time.
Down one direction was an empty hallway, brick walls leading to the maze of other hallways and rooms, most probably being mere offices where mission requests were typed or scouts carefully observed cameras throughout Lorsette. Nothing was important to Nathan down that hallway, the green-haired man merely shrugging before lazily shifting his head towards the other direction, expecting similar results or a fellow hunter. There was a fellow hunter down the hallway, marked by the dark main colouring with the red highlights across the uniform, accenting it with a colour which popped against the base. Evidently, the individual was among the hunting division's elite forces, resulting in a curious brow lifting as Nathan's gaze slowly drifted up; who could this mysterious individual lurking through the hallways be? Eyes widened when the vampire's yellow-green eyes finally reached the man's face, surprised to discover a familiar person wandering through these hallways. The green-haired hunter froze, shock entering him as he watched the ghost wonder these hallways, unchanged from the days before the news of his demised reached Nathan's lonesome world.
[break][break]
A dead man was walking through these hallways, somebody who the vampire believed would never be seen again. Silas Darian, once his mentor walked down the hallway, heading towards the mission board. The green-haired hunter's eyes locked onto him, unable to process the notion of the redhead being alive, and not providing the proper greeting for his favourite apprentice; at least, Nathan arrogantly believed he was the favourite. When the movement ceased, Nathan scrutinized the elite hunter, confused by why nobody made him privy to his mentor returning. Since the loss of his brother, there were few people who managed to touch the sadistic vampire's world in a positive light, but Silas was definitely among the few. Throughout his training, his mentor worked strenuously to build trust and friendship between them, Nathan once believing he was finally recovering from the painful loss only to have Silas die in an Assembly altercation. There was a long pause before the vampire regained the ability to speak.
[break][break]
"YOU'RE ALIVE?! WHAT THE FUCK?!" Nathan exclaimed, unable to contain himself. A hand reached out, attempting to grab Silas' arm. "WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU CAME BACK?!"
[break][break]
Nobody informed him of these developments, although, it would probably be because of the fear Nathan manifested in the hearts of others on account of the rude manner he treated them. Nonetheless, the vampire felt offended nobody could have told him Silas returned, but most importantly, the man himself never bothered to search him out for a conversation. There was plenty to catch up on, and yet, one of Nathan's few friends could not make time to at least inform him of his return?! Anger boiled in the green-haired hunter's veins, the ignorance to his own feelings upsetting him immensely.
Silas had seen Nathan, he just wasn't aware they knew each other. Having lost his memory, he couldn't remember anybody in his past, well except his sister but only because she had been there when he had been murdered. Of course any memories prior to his death were still as clouded as ever. He hadn't noticed Nathan's eyes widen to seeing him, having been too focused at the task at hand. He wanted to continue completing missions, perhaps it was a tad bit selfish but at least it would give him something to do as he hoped his memory would return. He was pulled from his thoughts to a question he was slowly growing accustom too. It sounded as if Nathan was frustrated over the fact of him being alive too, however, his memory still refused to come back.
He remained silent, looking at the bulletin board, unsure of what he could say to Nathan. For starters an apology came to mind but he didn't want to admit not remembering him. He flinched when he felt Nathan's hand touch his arm, being reminded there was a chance Nathan would be violent as Sonya had been when she found him alive. The words had come out of Nathan's mouth and he found himself going from looking at Nathan, to looking at the floor, clearly ashamed of himself. "I don't remember." He answered quietly, unsure on how he would want to go about telling him exactly what happened. I knew so many people before my death and though they know me, I can't remember any of them. He thought to himself, feeling frustrated, it didn't help that he found Nathan somewhat intimating.
"Are you going to throw a trash can at me?" He asked, slowly looking up to look Nathan in the face. Fear spread across his face, the idea of being attacked and so soon too. I guess I should have expected it to be possible.... He thought to himself, hoping that Nathan would hear him out before possibly attempting to harm him.
Offended, angered and wounded by Silas' lack of consideration towards his desire to become privy to his return from the Purgatory. The elite hunter assisted in his difficulties in mental healing after the traumatic loss of his brother, Donovan, thus Nathan wished he could have become aware of his return. There were few people who managed to assist with his recovery, Tristan somewhat completing it by transforming into somebody the vampire could lower his guard around. Finally having somebody to converse about anything with was soothing, allowing for Nathan to finally achieve a state of calmness, although, failed to completely vanquish the mask. Sadistic traits were still displayed whenever somebody attempted to create social situations, a trait displayed to ward people away. However, the vampire found himself slowly lightening up, but the old lieutenant who constantly bothered him did not assist the situation. With narrowed eyes, Nathan stared at Silas, still upset the man left him and never returned to become his friend. There were numerous things the vampire could have caught up on with Silas, most importantly being his new boyfriend, but it appeared the redhead was disinterested.
[break][break]
There was a pause when Silas mentioned being unable to remember him, Nathan maintaining a tight grip on his former mentor's arm as he stared at him. Shock settled in, the vampire becoming uncertain on how to respond to the notion of his close friend being unable to remember him. A mixture of surprise and confusion remained evident on the green-haired hunter's face until Silas asked an interesting question.
[break][break]
"Wh-what?! Why the hell would I do that?!" Nathan exclaimed, extremely perplexed by the notion.
[break][break]
Throwing a garbage can at Silas was definitely not an idea which crossed Nathan's mind, thus the inquiry confused him. The vampire kept his grip on the redhead's arm, a brow furrowing as he waited for the wraith's answer to the strange question.
Silas felt ashamed that he couldn't given Nathan answers, it was never his intention to hurt those closest to him but it seemed no matter how much he tried, he just couldn't remember who they were as to make it easier to make things right with them. In the back of his mind, he couldn't help but feel somewhat worried that Nathan might attack him as Sonya had. He was surprised when Nathan asked his question sounding confused by his reason of asking in the first place. "Because the lady I saw from TRS.... she already threw one at me..... going as far as to pull me out of the restaurant window because I failed to tell her that I was alive." He mumbled, looking down at the floor. "I thought coming back here would help me remember, but I just can't.... I can't seem to figure out who the hell I am and I'm hurting the people that were once close to me." He answered, thinking about Umberto, he had disappeared on his husband and later died, though he couldn't remember disappearing on his husband just chose to believe his words on the subject.
Then there was Sonya and a few other people at TRS, Nathan included. They all knew him and yet he didn't know who the hell they were or the relationship they had prior to his memory loss. "But despite all that, I didn't like how she threatened Umberto and basically called me a worthless. So here I am.... trying to prove her wrong." He mumbled, slowly he looked back towards Nathan. "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you I was alive." He mumbled, feeling guilty that another person had been hurt by his lack of memory. He remained in Nathan's grip, secretly hoping that by some miracle he would remember Nathan. "What is your name?" He asked, clearly curious on the answer of their relationship.
There were endless painful experiences throughout Nathan's history, thus witnessing Silas' amnesia resulted in a moody frown touching his face. Evidently, the vampire was both angered and upset after be provided information about his former mentor's current condition. Amnesia was a mysterious illness for Nathan, especially considering the lack of data he possessed over the condition. Unfortunately, the russet-haired man would be unable to remember the positive experiences in the TRS (and his favourite apprentice), Silas' first experience apparently related to somebody throwing a garbage can at him. Despite the upset in his mind, Nathan managed to exhibit traits of confusion obvious on his face. Brows were furrowed, one being raised higher as he unconsciously moved his head slightly to the side. There were underline tones of upset beneath his expressions, the deep frown which breached his face and the sorrowful emotion evident in his eyes. Quietly, he listened to Silas' story which explained the memory loss and even his feelings currently; admittedly, Nathan was mildly surprised by the openness the amnesiac was displaying.
[break][break]
Once the explanation was completed, a soft sigh escaped Nathan's lips as he released Silas' arm. There was a brief pause as the vampire glanced away briefly before gaining the ability to speak.
[break][break]
"Don't worry about it," he mumbled. "... You did a lot for me when I was younger, so I can't really be mad..."
[break][break]
Sorrow remained behind Nathan's eyes as he took a step away, yellow-green eyes scanning the wraith. A frown proceeded to stay on his face, the vampire becoming uncertain of what he could do to mend what occurred. The green-haired hunter wanted his former mentor to remember everything, but there would be plenty of work needed to possibly allow that to happen, and Nathan was uncertain of where to start.
Silas had felt Nathan release his arm, listening to Nathan's words made him sad. "I did?" He asked, though he couldn't help but feel sad at how this conversation had turned out for him. To make matters worse, Nathan had taken a step away from him instead of answering his question, had he been offensive by asking his name? It is moments like these that I hate myself. Surely I was a cruel person to forget my history. Just because I'm not that way now, doesn't mean I wasn't before. Look at the amount of people I've hurt, all because I can't remember. What the hell is wrong with me?
He thought to himself, a thought had crossed his mind, not that Umberto would be pleased if he found out about it. She was right, I'm not who I used to be and I should have had that trash can thrown at me.... Hell why did I come back here? He thought to himself, it seemed to him that Nathan was upset with him and that he'd likely be leaving soon enough, which left only one option. He reached out, noticing a difficult task on the board, before ripping it off of the board. He may not remember his past, but he could accomplish this. So without permission he moved away, heading towards a shadow because he planned on teleporting through it.
Deep breathing was accomplished, Nathan planning on temporarily ignoring the name question on account of the stirring emotions manifesting problems. People he cared intensely about were being taken away from him, and while Silas returned, the memories were stolen from the redhead. There were few words he could state in response to the wraith's amnesia, thus the vampire found himself resigning to silence instead. Thoughts were jumbling in the green-haired hunter's head, the man merely providing a nod, yes, as an answer for the question his former mentor asked. There was a step taken away, the vampire's yellow-green eyes watching as Silas created distance between them, Nathan raising a brow. Suddenly, a difficult mission was yanked off the board, Nathan's eyes widening in worry when the wraith snatched it and began running. Instantly, the green-haired vampire enhanced his speed and sprinted after him. Losing Silas was forbidden, especially in a similar manner the pleasant man died the first time. The vampire's heart was beating rapidly as he chased behind the redhead, worry evident on his expression as he hustled behind his former mentor.
[break][break]
"SILAS, COME BACK! PLEASE!" Nathan called as he frantically chased down his mentor.
[break][break]
Each step brought them closer to the shadows, thus Nathan attempted to sprint as fast as possible. The distance was gradually closed, the vampire leaping in desperate hope he could manage to grab Silas. He refused to allow his former mentor to escape and possibly meet his demise again.
Silas hadn't been been expecting Nathan to chase after him when he had remained silent for the past couple of minutes. He felt guilty that he couldn't remember anything from his past, anybody that was important to him. So he had made a choice to the displeasure of Umberto, unaware that Nathan wouldn't be pleased as well. He had started running away in case he attempted to stop him, knowing there was a high risk since he was since they did know each other from the past. He heard Nathan shouting is name but he didn't cease his running. The sooner he got to the shadow, the sooner he could complete this mission, or frankly, die trying. It pained him to flee from Nathan without a second glance, but just before he made it to the shadow, he found himself stumbling forward after Nathan had successfully leaped at him.
Slowly he fell forward until he was laying upon his stomach, unable to free himself, not even bothering to make the effort. Instead, he found himself slowly shaking as tears started forming from his eyes. "Why! Why can't I remember?" He asked, clearly upset as he laid against the floor, the side of his face was against the floor as tears slowly fell from his eyes. It was very upsetting, that he had gone through all the effort and still couldn't remember any of his past. Try and he might, he feared that he'd forever remain in the dark regarding his past.
Pure determination flooded through Nathan when he chased down his mentor, refusing to allow the amnesiac to attempt the risky mission ripped off the board. Allowing Silas to die from a stupid decision, especially considering it appeared the redhead's upset emotions were possessing him to make these reckless decisions. Fortunately, a certain green-haired vampire cared immensely about his former mentor and would not allow him to makes these foolish decisions. The lunge was accomplished out of desperation, the green-haired hunter praying he could successfully tackle Silas to the ground. Once he leaped, the vampire was sailing through the air, arms outstretched as the distance between himself and his former mentor was closed. Promptly, his body collided with Silas, the vampire's arms wrapping around his former mentor. His full weight was placed onto the wraith as he landed, resulting in the pair toppling to the ground. The fall itself hardly bothered Nathan considering he was cushioned by Silas when they landed on the tiles. Deep breaths were taken as the vampire loosened his grip around Silas, his yellow-green eyes hard as he stared down at the amnesiac.
[break][break]
"DON'T YOU DARE GET YOURSELF FUCKING KILLED AGAIN!" Nathan screamed before Silas could speak.
[break][break]
Quietly, Nathan hovered over him, soon listening to the upsetting question which escaped Silas' mouth. A soft sigh escaped the vampire's lips when his mentoring began tearing up from being unable to remember. A softness entered the green-haired hunter's eyes, pausing as he attempted to puzzle together what exactly he should say.
[break][break]
"Silas?" He mumbled, displaying a platonic friendliness. "You will remember one day... and even if you don't... I still want to be your friend..."
[break][break] The vampire explained simply, slowly releasing his mentor as he slid off of him. He remained on the floor, sitting on the tiles with one leg flat and the other slightly bent, allowing his arm to casually rest on it. A frown crossed his face, the green-haired man slowly raising his gaze to fixate on the wraith.
[break][break]
"My name is Nathan... It's fine if you don't remember that," Nathan stated, finally providing his name.
[break][break]
Afterwards, he slowly rose from the tiled floor, hand extended towards Silas to offer him assistance up. Since his former mentor was an amnesiac, and despite being entirely forgotten, Nathan cared about the man acted similar to a brother. Besides, he was among the most incredible people in his life.
Silas listened as Nathan yelled at him, he couldn't stop the tears from falling from his eyes as the understanding of Nathan caring about his well being had crossed his mind. Just as Umberto had proven, Nathan cared about him too. Death wasn't an option. He started his mumble of frustration on not being able to remember his past. He sniffed when Nathan called out his name, struggling to hold himself together when Nathan told him that he'd still want to be his friend even if he didn't ever remember. Thoughts of wanting to remember had crossed his mind, deciding he'd be damned if he couldn't remember. "It's nice to meet you again, Nathan." He answered, wanting nothing more than to remember. "I'm not done attempting to remember, not by a long shot." He answered, feeling Nathan slowly stand up. He turned onto his side so that he could look up at Nathan. It was somewhat of a surprise when Nathan had offered his hand to help him up, but he was relieved too. He slowly reached out to take Nathan's hand before slowly pushing himself up onto his feet. "I suppose I should put this mission back on the bulletin board...." He mumbled, unsure of what mission he should do now.
Almost everybody had given up when Silas entered Nathan’s life as his hunting mentor. A majority of people were frightened by his outwardly sadistic mask optimized for keeping others away. However, it never stopped the man the vampire tackled to the ground moments prior. Somehow, his former mentor wiggled his way into his life, making himself a crucial consistency. Contrary to what some people would believe, the green-haired hunter craved that comfort again. Tears brimmed from Silas’ eyes, a frown settling on Nathan’s face as he offered to assist his former mentor to his feet. In the vampire’s mind, the redhead was the strongest man he knew, somebody who would never cry no matter what hardship he was forced to endure. This instance of vulnerability was simply something the vampire never expected from Silas, however, he refused to judge his former mentor for it. The training regiments allowed him to form a connection with Silas, and thus, he was determined to reform their relationship. There were obvious changes in his mentor’s demeanour, the most noticeable being the sensitivity he held when the green-haired hunter stated he wished to remain friends. Throughout their interaction, Nathan attempted to maintain a small, reassuring smile, although, it was difficult.
[break][break]
He narrowly adjusted to displaying a colourful array of emotions to Tristan, but it was a slower process warming up to others. When he felt Silas’ hand grasp his, Nathan assisting in heaving the redhead to his feet.
[break][break]
“Well… I can try and help,” Nathan responded quietly as he helped Silas to his feet.
[break][break]
There was a pause when Silas mentioned returning the mission to the bulletin board. Briefly, Nathan glanced at the bulletin board before gazing over his own mission.
[break][break]
"Maybe... we could go on one together?" Nathan suggested.
[break][break]
Accomplishing a mission together would be similar to old times when Nathan was being trained by Silas. There was a chance doing these activities they formerly participated in could job his former mentor's memory, at least, the vampire hoped.
Silas couldn't help but slowly smile when Nathan offered to help him upon helping him to his feet. It was strange, having somebody offer to help him. He thought Umberto was the only one that cared enough to attempt such things but he was wrong, Nathan had been too. It saddened him to think that they were close at one point of time and yet he couldn't remember any of it. "Thank you." He answered, clearly grateful, though if that was to helping him to his feet or offering to help him regain his memory, only he would know for sure, though it was to both. He then mentioned how he should place the mission back on the bulletin board. "Really?" He was surprised but more than willing to go with him. "I'd like that." He answered, slowly he would walk back to the bulletin board before placing the mission back on it. "Which one should we do?" He asked, knowing that Nathan had been standing here before him but he wasn't aware if he had a mission in mind or not, besides there were plenty here to choose from besides the one Nathan had been debating on only moments prior.
Providing assistance towards fellow hunters was an action the mask would never accomplish, however, Nathan held a soft spot for the man who trained him. There were few people who managed to soften the exterior shell the TRS hunter created for himself, especially since it was designed to scare others away. However, anybody else who attempted to manifest softness between them would receive the usual threats. More connections meant more chances to possible lose somebody important to him! Under most circumstances, Nathan could be referred to as hot-headed and arrogant, especially towards the old lieutenant who pestered him constantly, but Silas cared for him after losing his brother. Even Donovan's old friend, Amon, became quite distant, however, the elite hunter was enigmatic and mysterious as usual. The smile on Silas' face was reassuring, the vampire feeling as though centuries had passed since he last witnessed his mentor smile. The thanks provided, Nathan smiling as he led Silas back towards the bulletin board. When they agreed to attend a mission together, Nathan grabbed a tack, pinning up the mission he previously had originally decided.
[break][break]
The question referring to which mission they could potentially accomplish, Nathan, shrugged. It was a miracle he discovered the mission he originally grabbed, but now he required one for two people.
[break][break]
"I'm not sure... What level of hunter are you? Still an elite or?" Nathan asked, raising a brow.
[break][break]
Understanding the hunting level Silas was at would be crucial for figuring out which mission they should take today. Carefully, he looked over the mission board, soon grabbing a mission involving a medium risk terror. He read over the information, attempting to assess if the mission could be suitable for them.
