Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Ossian woke up in the morning, he changed into his jogging clothes before exiting his apartment to run for two miles. He was back within thirty minutes, quick to rinse off in the shower before changing into a fresh pair of clothes. He then cooked himself eggs and bacon for breakfast, slow to eat it as to savor the flavor. Once it was done he would sick them in the sink to clean for later before moving into the living room to watch some tv for a few hours. Closer to noon, he left the apartment to order some lunch. He slowly walked down the street before walking into a cafe.
The line was long, he had no idea what he wanted to order but he figured he had enough time to look over the menu. Though as people finished ordering, he found himself still debating on what to order. "How about you go ahead." He answered to the person that was standing just behind him. I don't know what I want to eat and I don't want to hold up this line. He thought to himself, surprised that the line continued growing, proving that this place would become packed, meaning people would be stuck sharing tables.
I think I decided on what I want to order, it took me long enough. He thought to himself before moving back into the line. Of course the person he had moved in front of was a little boy. "Hey.... no cutting in line...." He snapped, clearly not interested in waiting for Ossian to make his order. He had already given up his spot for the next person to order, he honestly hadn't expected this boy to get snippy with him when he hadn't moved that far away. I have two choices, move in the back of the line or argue about how I was still in line.
With a small sigh, he opened his mouth, prepared to answer. "No problem kid." He didn't want trouble with this little brat, not even if it meant that he could keep his spot in the line. So he slowly started to move passed the kid.
it was another one of those rare days when he wasn't stuck at home. honestly though it seemed like he was the one always out and about. doing random errands here and there. anything to get out of that place. not that he didn't like it, but he was started to get bored without something to do and keep his mind occupied. he had gotten up a later late than usual, considering that this was his free day.
if things continued this way he would have to look for another job. there were times he felt more like a babysitter and personal assistant than a bodyguard. this whole situation had been weird to begin with.
a small yawn escaped his lips as he finally dragged himself out of bed and went on with his daily routine. it was such a nice day outside, he did not want to spend it stuck inside. grabbing a couple of things he made his way out. maybe he'd just walk around the city some more. there were still places that he was yet to familiarize himself with. eventually he stopped by a local cafe to pick up something to eat. by the look of it, he wasn't the only one that was hungry. there was a couple of people in front of him and he was glad he had gotten in line when he did. as more people started to line up behind him.
he looked at the menu trying to figure out what he was going to pick. gideon wasn't pick, so long the food was good. his thoughts were soon interrupted. he stared at the guy saying he could move ahead of him."are you sure?"though it seemed like so as he let gideon move ahead of him. whatever the case gideon thanked him and continued with looking at the menu. the sandwiches all sounded good. it was almost his turn when he heard the commotion behind him.
it was rather hard not to miss, considering they were rather noisy. gideon turned around to see what all the commotion was about and spotted the guy who had let him go ahead of line. he chuckled softly and without a second thought he called out to him."hurry up, we are next."he turned to face the noisy kid."he's with me. so let him through."
Ossian had smiled at Gideon who had been standing behind him. "I'm sure." He answered, happy when he noticed Gideon moving ahead. Within a few minutes he had finally figured out what he was going to order before moving back into the line, going behind Gideon because he had already told him that he could go ahead of him. Of course the kid had caused a commotion and instead of causing a fight he had planned on moving to the back, that is before he had heard Gideon calling out to him. He had glanced back, somewhat confused until Gideon had said that he was with him.
Despite the kid having a nasty face expression, he found himself following behind Gideon until he was standing next to him. "Thanks for that." He whispered, not meaning to cause any trouble. He honestly wanted to eat lunch and head back home. It wasn't everyday that he had some brat giving him a hard time just because he had stepped away to look at the menu only to return to the line. It wasn't like he had been away that long either, so it hadn't crossed his mind that the kid would give him a hard time. As soon as it was their turn, he waited for Gideon to go first before ordering a sandwich with water.
He would then pull out his wallet to pay for his meal before moving aside to try and figure out which table to sit at. As expected the tables were all taken except for the one near a window closest to the line and door. He planned to let Gideon take it and he would just stand, unaware that he might just get an invite to eat with him. "It looks like that is the only table left." He whispered, "You can have it if you want." He didn't want to cause problems in case the guy wanted to eat alone, not that he took up that much space.
he wasn't going to say no to the kind gesture, besides it did seem like the guy needed just a few more minutes to decide what he wanted. gideon didn't think anymore on the subject and concentrated on what he was going to get. it wouldn't be long till it was his turn.
though the commotion did bring his attention back to the guy who had let him skip ahead of him. he couldn't help, but chuckle and help the poor guy out. the kid must of been really hungry to be causing all that trouble. without a second thought gideon had called him over. the blonde whispered a word of thanks and gideon chuckled softly shaking his head."it's the least i could do."
at last it was their turn and gideon ended up ordering a ham and turkey club, with chips and a lemonade. he moved down the line to pay and receive his food. gideon had planned on finding a place to sit, where it didn't require to be stuck inside. it was such a nice day and the place was crowded. nothing like eating outside when there's nice weather to be had.
the guy had suggested he take the only table."it's alright, you go for it. im not a fan of how packed it is currently."he chuckled softly."i was actually thinking of eating outside."he told him before continuing to explain his reasoning."i'd rather not feel like i have to rush so someone else can sit down."even if he wasn't feeling pressured, it's how he would feel.
Ossian listened as Gideon said it was alright for him to go at it. He had half a mind to do so before the kid behind him and rushed towards the table to eat there. "Pass...." He whispered before chuckling, "Well maybe I'll join you then. Assuming that is alright." He answered, planning on going outside too, even if it meant having his own table. Though it would be lonely eating his sandwhich, it wasn't too bad. It really would depend on if this guy allowing him to join him or not. "I'm Ossian by the way." He answered, having forgotten to give his name earlier.
"A pleasure to meet you." He would add, trying to slowly start up a conversation. It is weird, having a conversation and it not being job related. It isn't a bad weird though. Hopefully I can figure out what to say to keep the conversation possibly going. He thought to himself before heading towards the door to go back outside. Whether they shared a table or not would be Gideon's choice, however he was determined to find a spot outside as to keep him company even if from a distance.
he couldn't help, but laugh. it seemed like the blonde had been planning on taking the last table in the restaurant, though someone else had the same idea. he watched them rush towards the table, a smug look on their face as he glared at them."such a nice kid huh?"he asked rhetorically. seriously was this kid just given what he wanted all his life? gideon couldn't stand spoiled brats. which was funny considering there had been times when he had been called a brat. though now he liked to think he was no where near that kids level.
"so you're not going to sit with your new buddy?"gideon teased him before shaking his head."sure, i don't mind the company."he told him with a nod. gideon didn't mind being alone, but having someone to chat with was always fun too. gideon made his way towards the exit. he already had a planned destination. he turned to let his new lunch buddy know where they were headed."there's a park up a head and im pretty sure they have some tables."he told him as he started to walk towards the park.
the blonde introduced himself and gideon nodded."nice to meet you. i'm gideon."he wasn't sure if they should continue to talk or just wait till they were eating."have you been here before?"he asked ossian, referring to the park."the park i mean. or the restaurant."he said with a chuckle.
Ossian shrugged his shoulders. "I guess he needed the table more." He answered back in return. "Not a chance." He answered him back with a grin on his face. "If I did that, nobody would be around to keep you company." He teased, following behind Gideon as they exited. "You mean you aren't sure?" He teased, keeping pace with him. "Just means eating on the ground like old times." He joked, though he couldn't help but hope they had tables since sitting on the ground could become rather uncomfortable after a while. "I have." He answered, chuckling. "Both. Though sadly I have to deal with kids like that all the time. Maybe I'm a magnet for them...." He teased, curious on which table Gideon would pick for them as soon as they arrived at the park. "How about you?" He asked, knowing this is the first time he had met him.
gideon chuckled at his words. honestly, he didn't blame him. that kid seemed like bad news and it doubted he would of shared the table."so considerate of you."gideon chuckled once more. though he was glad he had someone to talk to. not that he didn't enjoy spending all his time with demy, but he often felt like it would be good for him to get out and talk to other people. just because he wouldn't be here forever didn't mean he couldn't socialize. after all he did talk to that girl at the cafe from time to time.
gideon shrugged."im not really from around here. so, i guess not."he laughed once more. though he didn't mind sitting on the grass."feeling nostalgic all of a sudden are we?"gideon teased back. he laughed as he shook his head."what? am i a magnet for rude kids? i don't think i am. i still think it was all you."he said before pointing towards the park."oh, it's your lucky day. you don't have to sit on the ground. see i told you they had tables."he said as started towards the round table.
Ossian shrugged his shoulders when Gideon made his comment, clearly amused as he followed. As he followed his listened to Gideon admit that he wasn't from around here. "I see." He answered, chuckling when Gideon asked his question. "Why not? There isn't any harm in the past, is there?" He teased him back. He chuckled when Gideon made his comeback about the rude kids. "Maybe we should have a round two, to find out." He joked, not serious. He honestly didn't want to deal with bratty kids. He chuckled when Gideon pointed to the park where there were tables. "Are you sure you weren't aware of them having tables?" He teased, following him before taking a seat.
gideon laughed softly."well, i guess not. it's always nice to revisit past memories now and again."gideon told him with a nod. though they really depended whether those memories were good or bad. his schooling days were rather a mix of both. he liked to believed he grew from those experiences.
"so should we start like a fight club and pick the meanest kids against each other to see who wins?"he asked with a laugh. clearly he was joking and he positive kids were already doing a great job on beating up each other, without needing their help."or we could always had back and annoy the kid till he leaves."he said with another laugh. he wasn't planning on wasting his time doing that though.
gideon smiled."well, maybe im just psychic. should i tell you your fortune"gideon said with a laugh as he set his food down and got comfortable. he was ready to eat and he hoped the food was good. considering how long the line had been he figure it must be. you wouldn't wait in line for something that was sub par. he unwrapped his sandwich and grabbed a half before taking a bite.
Ossian would nod his head in agreement, going silent because he was unsure of what else he could say. He was surprised to hear Gideon's question, he chuckled. "Come now, the only one that would win is me...." He teased, as if the kids didn't meet his expectations of being strong. "Only kidding." He added, not believing that Gideon was serious to begin with. When Gideon gave his suggestion he chuckled, "I don't know.... soooooooooo much effort." He joked, though that, he could see himself doing if he felt encouraged enough.
He chuckled when Gideon made his comment about being psychic. "Sure, why not?" He was curious on the answer Gideon would give him despite not believing in those type of things. He sat across from Gideon, unwrapped the wrapper around his sandwich, slowly taking a bite. It wasn't the best sandwich in the world but it would do for now. It is strange, eating at a park of all places. I wonder if he does that a lot. He thought to himself, taking another bite of his sandwich. "Soooooo what are your hobbies?" He asked, setting the sandwich on the table, clearly curious.
gideon chuckled at his words."of course you are."gideon teased him back."lucky for you, you're right that's too much effort and things would probably not go as planned."
as soon as he had sat down gideon had started to unwrap his food. they continued to talk as they eat. at one point all that could be heard was the noises around them as they continued to eat in silence. his phone vibrated in his pocket, but he decided to ignore it. he wasn't about to put his sandwich down. though that's exactly what he did as he grabbed a napkin and wiped his mouth before thinking of what to say to him.
he chuckled softly."uh, i don't really have any. im always busy with work. well, i was."he said with a shake of his head. his current job kept him busy, but not as busy as when he was at the police station."well, i guess i do run. what about you?"he spent time doing other things besides work right?
now that ossian had brought that to his attention maybe all he did was work. back home he would hang out with friends now and then. it was actually rather sad not knowing how many times he would not spend at work. the days all seemed to run together. not that he minded. he enjoyed his line of work.
Ossian grinned when Gideon had agreed with him. The grin spread wider across his face when Gideon had agreed about it taking too much effort and would not likely go as planned. He was slow to eat his sandwich, choosing not to talk because it was rude to talk with your mouth open, right? Though it wasn't really his reason for not talking it was just one of them. He mostly just didn't know what to say so eating was met with silence, which he was perfectly okay with. He was the first to break the silence and to his surprise, Gideon chose to answer him.
"Oh I see." He answered, pondering on how he would answer the question because it would most likely be redirected at him. Gideon then asked and he found himself still pondering. "I feel like most commonly I'm at home watching tv because I'd rather be available to take a shift then have an activity and lose out on the money. But I suppose if running counts I do that too." He answered with a grin on his face. "Oh and drinking sometimes...." When he wasn't working he did find himself sometimes going to the nightclub he worked at.
he sounded completely boring didn't he. well, he wasn't about to lie in order to impress him. not that he had any reason to try to impress ossian."i do read from time to time."he randomly added after a bit more of pondering. funny how there are so many things one can answer with, but as soon as you are asked your mind goes blank."though, currently i haven't found anything that has caught my attention."he said after taking another bite of his sandwich.
gideon nods at ossian's response."oh, yeah i guess i watch tv now and again. watched anything good lately?"he laughed softly."yes, hobbies that are free are certainly the better option."gideon said with a nod."so what do you? that you have to keep your busy pretty open?"he asked curiously.
Ossian shrugged his shoulders, "Not really, I tend to watch on a channel that throws random movies on it. Most are romantic but like sometimes it is Christmas based while other times, another season." He honestly couldn't remember the different names, having seen quite a few though it was true they sometimes would repeat the movie, he didn't invest time in reminding himself about the names, not really caring about that sorta thing. "Though if I get bored of that channel, I switch it to another channel that airs movies." His favorite being action, but he didn't feel a great need in correcting any possible misunderstandings from before.
"I work as a bouncer at a local nightclub." He answered, once more shrugging his shoulders. "It is fun waiting near the door to see who was waiting in line, my favorite is telling them to show id.... Some people look so young for their age and I wouldn't want to risk allowing anybody underage in. "Have you seen any underage get upset over not being allowed inside? I have and I find it hilarious." He slowly reached out to drink some of his water before closing the lid to the bottle once more. "How about you?"
