Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
City hall was a cacophony of noise as a band blared their music over the speakers and feast goers spoke louder in order to be heard. A majority of people likely enjoyed the noise despite its loudness, their gifts or species not acting as a problem. There were the dancers who embraced the noise in full force, some going the lengths of cheering the band on by screaming their joy in an obnoxiously loud manner. Despite the loud scene in the midst of autumn-based decor, a majority of people were genuinely over zealous about the festivities, except for a certain blind informant. Felix had arrived with an intention of gathering information, figuring the perhaps the music would be tuned down for the sake of species with keen hearing.
Unfortunately, the agender individual found themself sorely mistaken when the clamor increase tremendously once the band started playing with music running through speakers. Thus in their usual black coat, jeans and dark glasses they leaned against the farthest wall from the band. A pain was edging behind their eyes which genuinely made them feel a tad ill, forcing them to depart from the groups, opting to remain alone. Their eidetic memory gift has always made them more prone to headaches, especially when placed in obsessively loud areas. Despite their often impassive tendencies, their face displayed how miserable they were in the loud interior. To make matters worst, the painful headache made it difficult for them to navigate with their static sight since they simply could not focus enough. Thus, the floor before them was left a maze of bodies that they wanted to avoid bumping their way through to reach the front door. It resulted in the violet haired individual to be trapped near the far wall, a mild feeling of jealousy entering their mind. All these people were fortunate enough to be able to see, while they remained imprisoned in their permanent world of blindness.
An annoyed sigh escaped their lips as they lazily held their cane in their right hand. The entire festivity made the blind individual feel out of place and genuinely disconnected from the various other party people who appeared to be having the time of their lives. Their left hand drifted up to their head, rubbing their temples in a futile attempt to banish the tremendous headache that was plaguing them. A moment was taken as Felix wished their parents were here, the moment they discovered their headache and complete lack of navigation, they would have gently taken one of their pale hands and led them outside. Alas, they remained at home since they were not fans of the band voice, which Felix wad admittedly not a fan of either. Trying to get a bite of information that could be useful for TRS seemed hopeless now that all the informant could do was listen.
For a moment the grip was tightened on their cane, the blind man could always attempt to navigate through the crowd with it. With eyes remaining towards the floor, Felix thought about the concept for a few moments before shaking their head to themself. The head shake brought on a new set of pain, causing the blind individual to immediately bring their hand back to their head; this headache was horrible and getting worst with each moment they spent in the building. Without their static sensory, they simply would never see certain unexpected movements coming their way which could easily result in being knocked over. That could very easily cause them to gain further injury should somebody accidentally stepped on them afterwards. One could debate it was unlikely, but considering the violet hair man had a similar experience before they decided not to risk it.
A frown was worn on Felix's face, it was difficult to be impassive with this horrible headache. They wished that they merely stayed home like their mother suggested, it would have been more pleasant. A wonderful family night spent in idle chatter about how everyone's days were, perhaps the odd complaint about a certain rude fellow. Felix groaned miserably, they felt horrible and every minute seemed to only cause the pain to slowly worsen. For a moment they thought, thinking about the area they had entered when their sensory had been working. The area had been relatively empty, mostly used to push the tables and chairs aside to allow people to dance on the newly provided space. If they were stuck in this current location, the least the violet haired individual could do was sit and wait for an escape route. A firm grip was taking on the cane as Felix gently tapped it against the floor, the sound of the cane's bottom hitting the floor just audible.
Slowly and cautiously, they navigated around the back of the room. A mild look of relief came across their face when their cane managed to hit a chair. Another few moments of cautions were taken as Felix stationed themself in the fair, hands tentatively reaching out to discover the table in front of them. They moved their open hand against the smooth surface and found themself glad to discover no plates or dirt; this table had likely been cleaned. Once satisfied with their discovery, Felix leaned their cane against the table. When they found themself successful, they placed their arms on the table and hid their head within their arms in a useless attempt to block out the noise. The violet haired individual took another moment to regret coming to the feast and wished they could just get outside.
A feast of celebration, the notion that smiling faces and happiness would be spread to individuals participating caused Justus to smile faintly to herself. Word of it reached her as well, leading to her deciding to watch over the proceedings of the feast. Odd that rather than participate, she wanted to watch over the event but that was simply how Justus was. Thanks to her demode belief of what a feast was, Justus wore not the expected attire of jeans and shirt for comfort-- but rather, she wore an elegant dress. It was crisp and smooth, with a purple hue. The dress held frills, which might seem a bit too 'cutesy' for someone of her age, but thanks to her physical age it seemed fitting. While humming faintly to herself within her massive yet empty residence, she affixed a hat on top of her blonde tresses and headed off to the venue. [break][break] The feast was, to say the least, unexpected to her. While people were indeed having merry, judging from the huge smiles on their faces and their cheers of enjoyment, the chaotic scene within the city hall contrasted her expectations. Rather than a pleasant music to accompany the conversations between individuals, there blared a loud and ear-grating form of music. Not just that, but people were wriggling their bodies wildly alongside the tune, as though possessed by insanity due to the music that reverberated in the area. Shock. That was what Justus felt for the briefest of moments; her dress and elegant demeanor made her stick out like a sore thumb amidst the crowd of wriggling people, but beyond that, she felt completely out of place due to her lack of comprehension as to why individuals enjoyed such clamorous noise. But devoid of any form of prejudice, Justus simply chose to believe that perhaps it was the modern version of music and something that she'd have to understand at a later date. [break][break] Regardless, she did not stay amidst the crowd for much longer, and instead she peeled herself away from the sea of people to stand silently at a corner. Vigilant eyes scanned the perimeters while she began to enjoy the feast in her own way; with the initial shock wearing off, she could fully see that everyone was enjoying the feast and that they were having the time of their life. The band played an unfamiliar genre of music and while the vocalist's voice was, to put it nicely, niche, most of the people in the audience danced to their songs with reckless abandon. It brought a smile to her face as she stood tall and straightly rather than lean against the wall behind her. In the midst of her silent observation, she spotted an individual make their way out of the crowded area. They held a cane and wore a pair of sunglasses, which instantaneously captured Justus' attention. For the moment, she did nothing but observe them, to see whether or not they were truly in trouble as well as something else entirely. [break][break] The latter expectation was broken, the people around the seemingly blind individual seemed to be far too focused on their loud merriment to even notice that they were stumbling away from the crowd in hopes of finding some form of respite. In no time at all, Justus started to walk towards their direction with a hurried gait-- yet hurried she may be, she held enough grace in her movements as well as refinement to make it seem as though she glided along the floor rather than walk. The very moment Justus reached them, they were slouched over the table with their head nestled betwixt their arms. A sign that they were truly in distress; either due to exhaustion, or perhaps nausea due to the loud noise. It mattered little as to which, Justus wished to offer her assistance to them as always. To do that, she first made presence known by standing right next to them with her eyes focused intently on their slouched frame. [break][break] '' Salutations, '' Despite the loud noise blaring into the area, Justus' voice cut right through it and made itself heard to these near her. There was a certain power to her voice, perhaps with how clearly she uttered her words without the slightest of hesitations. Such nuances made a great deal of difference in how one's voice is conveyed, after all. '' , you seem to be troubled. Might I offer my assistance to you? '' Cutting right to the chase and the intent behind her approach, Justus offered her assistance without any further inquiry. The best she could do at the present time was discern as to what truly ailed them, then perhaps assist either with her rudimentary medical skills or something beyond the healing of a physical injury. There were times when, in the midst of such happy events, a soul felt sad and lost leading to them feeling ostracized from the smiling environment. [break][break] No matter what problem ailed the violet-haired individual, only one thing remained for certain with regards Justus, she wanted to offer her assistance. As it'd be improper of her to sit herself across the individual without asking for their permission, she remained standing right next to them. Her arms were positioned in front of her stomach elegantly, her slender fingers interwoven with one another as though offering a prayer to the Goddess, Akari. A gentle smile formed on her visage, her eyebrows notably creased out of genuine concern for the individual that she happened to spot. Scarlet-hued irises that glimmered sharply were intently focused on the person across of her. [break] Felix Mellobrook
Noise was simply everywhere, echoing off the walls and being held within the main room constructed for these occasions. The mixture of obstructive sound and lack of electric sensory only made Felix realize how impossible escape was and their fatalistic mind began insisting that escape was futile. They were by all definitions lost in the swirl of sounds, people and head pain. Their headache was increasing in power, making the violet haired individual feel as though they were hit full force by a sledgehammer with jackhammers which further pounded away at his head. Over-exaggeration? Well Felix definitely did not believe the notion, since it felt painfully literal. Although it lacked possibility, the blind individual felt as though their mind was on the brink of bursting. They hopelessly attempted to hide deeper into their arms, hoping to block out the terribly loud music.
Hiding in their arms worked to no avail, leaving them inaudibly grumbling to themself about the noise in a tone so hushed the blind person could not hear it themself, although, the deafening music also assisted in that. They wished for the music to stop, or for their focus to return and lend them a method of leaving the main room of the city hall. Other thoughts held Felix's attentiveness when the woman approached, steps masked by the music. They remained slouched, ignoring the initial greeting with presumption that perhaps it was for another party goer. Notes were taken about the voice, easily registered into the individual's eidetic memory for permanent recognition. A feminine voice, capable of cutting through the thundering sound of the music. Between the words there was little hesitation, each possessing clarity as though the line was practiced several times over; almost akin to an actor fully practiced and on the stage. It made the woman easier to understand and allowed for being heard without raising one's voice too heavily.
For a few moments, the young agender individual remained silent, but when there was a lack of response from another attendant they figured it was perhaps for them. Slowly, their head was released from their arms, a few slow blinks accompanying the unveiling. Their arms shifted a bit, chin soon resting on top which possessed an odd amount of comfort for the slouched position. The woman had offered them assistance, informing Felix that she had noticed their distress. A slow breath escaped their mouth, not being aware of the woman's actual location mildly annoyed them. Being formal and maintaining at the very least near eye contact was an impossibility now, thus they settled for not shifting where their blind, purple eyes rested.
"I suppose you could state that I'm troubled, a true statement to say the least," Felix responded.
They regarded the small bit before their offering of assistance. The blind man's voice carried an air of sophistication, each word pronounced with ease and clarity. The mood captured within their words held the usual impassiveness, remaining neutrally spoken despite their distress. It was akin to the droning voice stereotypical high school students believe their boring teacher's to possess; a severe lacking in passion or emotion behind the words. Slowly, Felix eased themself into a back straight sitting position, fingers resting on the table while their eyes stared off blankly.
"The only possible actions you could take towards assisting me consists of leading me towards the exit. As you can likely tell, I am completely and utterly sightless," Felix began, answering her inquiry. "This obnoxious music, which is rather strident in my personal opinion, is wreaking havoc on my mind since it has produced a rather troublesome headache that will not be soothed in the slightest the longer I remain in this room. Alas, the music has successfully obstructed my method of navigation, therefore I would be highly appreciative should you be willing to lead me through the crowd."
Before the woman could properly state whether or not she accepted the task, Felix grabbed the soft, foamy handle of their cane and slowly rose from the seat they formerly stationed themself. The opportunity for escape from this awful attempt to gain information was presented to the individual, thus they were definitely going to take it. A moment was taken to accept their instance of helplessness, however, they were once again envious of those who could view the world. Being capable of sight was an asset that Felix longed for, but alas they were permanently condemned to this world were colours and seeing were merely fantasy. They remained still, searching the permanent storage of information the best they could given the harsh music blarring over the speakers. Gradually, they were somewhat capable of sourcing where the woman's voice came from which allowed them to angle their body towards her, although, they were off by a few notable degrees. The violet individual's open hand was offered for leading purposes.
"If you would, please. With the individuals within the crowd constantly moving there would be too high a possibility I would get knocked over while attempting to navigate myself." They stated more in an attempt to make certain they could acquire the assistance of the woman who kindly offered. "I have been knocked over numerous times, and considering on a single occasion I was accidentally stepped on I would most definitely appreciate a safe escort through the maze."
Unlike a majority of people, Felix did not punctuate the amount they appreciated the woman's offering. Their faced lacked emotion mostly, making it mainly neutral expression with slight hints of misery sparked by the noisy music. Not even the hunts of a smile touched across their face for some reassurance towards obtaining the woman's help. To the blind individual it seemed oddly cheap, if the woman desired to help them then a kindly smile should not be required. The situation was explained, pure and simple, and Felix considered that enough. Although, beneath the surface they prayed for assistance or else they would remain trapped in this noisy hell.
For a moment, no words were said, merely the cacophonous beat exploding within the city hall filled the lack of exchange betwixt the two of them. As though pouring the society's rancor towards the world's situation into Justus, the music continued to pervade within her body with every loud beat causing her the slightest of distress. Understanding she may be at times, but this went beyond her comprehension to the point that it felt like she stepped into an entirely different world with a different culture. Thankfully, she wasn't left to ponder any longer as the figure revealed signs that they managed to hear her words even through the thick and explosive noise that thrummed within the area. The individual shifted in their positioning, albeit they refrained from sitting up and meeting her gaze with their own. The reason why revealed itself, Justus was by no means a thick-headed lady, she had yet to grown senile despite her age and the piled up years. [break][break] Dark-tinted 'spectacles' were present on the figure's countenance, obfuscating their eyes in the tinted lenses. A sign that they were bereft of their sight; they could not see the beauty of the world. The same world that Enki crafted with such precision and attention to beauty that Justus felt far more at ease within the foreign realm than her home realm, Akari's Heavens. While her thoughts were not meant to be an affront to the Goddess that she served, Justus was honest to the degree that she could admit that much. Enki's world was beautiful, thus the prospect that the individual that she approached could not revel in such beauty made her heart feel a touch melancholic. However, she was not left to dwell with her thoughts for long, as the individual's voice reached her ears, causing her to nod her head in response-- only to realize the futility of the action after having done so. [break][break] '' Ah, then allow me to offer my assistance to the best of my capabilities. '' Without the slightest hints of hesitation, Justus interjected the very moment they stated that they were, indeed, troubled. Sophistication and clarity accompanied their voice, making their every word stand out amidst the rambunctious 'melody' chaotically bouncing against the walls in its crowd-motivating glory. What captured Justus' complete attention, however, was the fact that they stated their words in a perfectly neutral tone. As though they were speaking about another individual rather than themselves, they held an uncanny sense of neutrality. Was it due to their serenity and calmness, or something else entirely? Justus did not pry. Their tone was further emphasized when they continued with their words; their statements held a distant and aloft atmosphere, akin to a machine reading from a prewritten script; it sounded rehearsed, yet Justus knew that it was anything but. [break][break] Her conjectures were also proven correct when the individual revealed the fact that they were devoid of their sense of sight. In no time at all, Justus moved closer towards their direction-- to assist them with the act of standing up if need be. Now that she had been informed of their disability, Justus' desire to help them had increased by tenfold. Her already massive want of helping people in need had swelled to absurd proportions, they'd guide the individual everywhere they needed to go if they so desired. At their mention of the fact that the music was quite headache inducing, all Justus could do in response to it was offer a wry smile. Want as she may to agree, it'd prove to be rude to those who were, in fact, enamored with the music to the point of wriggling their bodies about akin to possessed individuals. [break][break] When the individual made action to rise from their seat, they'd find Justus' hands approaching them with the intent of helping them up. Was she planning on babying them? No doubt. '' Do excuse me, '' Adhering to her sense of conduct and refinement, Justus uttered those words as a precursor before assisting them with the act of standing up. Naturally, she ensured that the act of doing so wasn't forceful and helped rather than obstructed their motions. One of her arms aimed to loop around the individual's for safer and closer means of guiding them. Doing so with just a hand or even just holding their wrist might cause the two of them to be separated in the wriggling walls of overjoyed and overexcited individuals after all. Regardless; with her guiding hold secured on the person that needed her aid, she began with the action of leading them gently and assuredly away from the city hall and towards the sweet reprieve. [break][break] '' Allow me to function as the wall and cushion for their bodies. '' It was a bold statement, as doing so might lead to awkward mishaps or even the act of individuals trampling over her feet or the like. Needless, she guided them carefully with the entirety of her attention focused entirely on their safety. In fact, Justus even went as far as discreetly making use of her ability to function as extraneous protection for the individual. Any intrusive body that might accidentally bump into them would find their frames being gently nudged aside by an insistent plate of light that dispersed moments after its appearance. Complete attention was being given to them, yet even then, Justus remained as elegant and refined in her movements-- to the point that she seldom bumped into the dancing people. [break][break] On another note; the individual's lack of expressed gratitude did not seem to bother Justus. In fact, she hadn't even realized that they did not vocalize or utter any form of thankful words. Justus performed her acts of assistance not with the intent of receiving a form of rewards, or even just a 'thank you', after all, that'd render the point of helping without asking for something in return moot. Still, there was one thing that bothered Justus: there were far too many people, making their movement and departure from the area a tad bit longer than she had wanted. No words escaped from her to fill the silence either, a sign that she wasn't necessarily the social sort of individual. [break]
There were vibrations being sent across the floor which was a clear indicator to the music's volume while it rumbled through the city hall. The pulses were felt by Felix, making them more uncomfortable. The concept of rattling the floorboards with the horrible tune was something the blind individual frowned upon, there was zero need for the music to be this absurdly loud. The requirement of loud music was a concept Felix rarely understood due to their heavy reliance on their hearing alongside the treacherous headaches that accompanied thunderous music. Despite the discomfort created by the blaring music, they maintained a neutral expression. To Felix, this impassive countenance was formal and a habit sparked from becoming an informant.
They had grown to dislike openly displaying emotion, it chanced revealing truths in a vague manner. It made trickery via use of sympathy or allowed a liar to detect whether or not they were discovered. Now it has altered into becoming a preferred behavior taken towards interactions; although it was impart to their difficulty showing emotion since they were a mere child. Never witnessing the beauty of the world perhaps was the reasoning? Their envy towards the other children when they went on field trips and would always say things like 'whoa, look at that!' with the most excited voices. Hiding the jealousy is where it started, thus it would be sensible for this impassiveness to have sprouted from those saddening moments. Never being able to see the wonderful world sculpted by Enki that held wonders beyond anybody's imaginations had always taken its tole on Felix. They craved for their purple eyes to function properly, for the malformation to by some miracle mend and gift to them what was stolen during development.
In a professional manner the mysterious woman responded, stating that she would give them assistance. The voice held an edge of sophistication, their voice still clear despite the chaos of noise. The contrast between her voice and the music allowed for it to stand out, making it easier for Felix to detect. Oddly, the phrasing and tone reminded them of the way servants or knights spoke, which caused the violet hair individual to feel a tad uncomfortable with the notions. Something about it made them feel dependent, the natural smoothness and lack of hesitation only adding to the feeling. They were by no means an individual with the requirement of tending to, although, they supposed given the current situations they appeared that way. The stranger's voice did result in the blind individual being capable of straightening the direction they were facing slightly, although, perfection was unattainable causing them to remain off. They nodded, acknowledging that the response was heard amidst the cacophony.
As they began to rise, well aware of their surroundings and quite capable of doing the action alone. That was when heard the woman speak and felt hands assisting them in the mere action of standing. The moment the woman touched them in order to provide assistance, Felix felt annoyed. They enjoyed doing tasks by themself and being helped to get to their feet felt almost akin to an insult. Were they really expected to be incapable enough of standing on their own for the sole reason of blindness? The irritation touched the blind individual's face, although it was barely noticeable, but the sigh that escape their lips served as proof to their annoyance.
"I'm plenty capable to rise on my own, thank-you. To be quite frank, I do not appreciate being assisted with such a simplistic task and find it insulting that you would believe me incapable of the meager task of getting out of my chair," Felix stated bluntly, mild tones of frustration escaping their voice. "If I require assistance, I will simply ask, but please refrain from treating me as helpless due to my impairment. Just because I am blind does not e I am completely helpless."
Shortly, they felt an arm loop around their's, which was a sensible and acceptable task to the blind individual. There was an understanding in the action and a familiarity in assistance. It provided closeness, making the chance of losing the other amidst the crowd less probable. Most would have merely taken their hand, finding the concept of linking elbows with a stranger uncomfortable. Once comfortable beside the woman, Felix held their cane closer to their side; they did not desire to accidentally trip another individual within the crowd or themself. When the mysterious woman began to walk, Felix followed with a sense of joy over being led out of the horrible noise filled city hall. There was a craving stirring in the violet haired individual at the thought of the crisp air and quiet that was better maintained beyond the city hall's walls. Fresh air had always assisted as a relevant for their headaches, however, Felix knew the recovery would still be slow. When the woman mentioned being a cushion against the wiggling bodies in the room, not a response was given. They could hardly complain nor gave thanks towards the woman's efforts.
The movements towards the exit was rather plodding, the obvious cause being the blockage of people as they danced around the floor. Despite being blind, Felix was capable of imagining some of the possible occurrences that would have caused the progress to be terribly slow. As they moved in the slow paced escape, the blind individual's headache began worsening, becoming a sharper pain as the strident sounds tortured their brain. Eidetic memory's downside was punishing and being a piece of a loud and rambunctious world did little to assist matters. During the struggle to freedom from the noise, Felix noticed that their company was not keen on speaking. Instead, a silence had set between them and being unable to see the countenances of the woman's face caused the blind individual to presume they had upset her.
"You're quite silent," Felix remarked. They proceeding to add more in their regular neutral voice; it kept an air of calm to them. "If I have said anything to insult you, by all means inform me of the matter. I certainly had no intent of upsetting you."
There was no eye contact maintained, in fact Felix had kept their blind gaze facing straight ahead. Bothering with a meager eye contact attempt was obviously futile, the woman's gaze was likely searching for a means out of the maze of bodies; which is what they preferred. Personally, Felix wanted to escape the thunderous noise infested hell as quickly as possible considering the ravaging it did to their head. Thus resulting in a brisk walk as they awaited the woman's answer in hopes they did not offend the person that possessed enough kindness to assist them despite being a stranger.
