Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

a small yawn escaped her lips as she stretched her arms, while still laying in bed. her class had been cancelled unexpectedly. which she wished the professor would of at least emailed them ahead of time. she had to get up pretty early to catch the bus to make sure she got to her class on time. it was her only class of the day and she didn't have to work that day. which was a plus. at least she managed to catch up on her book while she waited for the bus and then the ride home. once she had arrived home, she dropped her things off and headed straight towards her bed for a nap.
still a little bit groggy from just waking up. she heard a noise outside her room. as far as she knew she had been alone in the house. she hadn't slept that long or so she thought. she slowly crept out of bed and opened her door slightly. she could hear doors opening and closing. what in the world? has she left a door open? she slipped out of her room. could it be her father or desmond? she pondered the idea as she slowly crept closer to the noise.
what if someone broke in? it had only been a few weeks when one of the neighboring houses had been robbed. great. she thought to herself. as she braved herself to face the intruder. she was heading towards the kitchen. it was the last place she had heard noise from. she took a peek inside and there was no one there. she moved out of the kitchen, walking backwards until she bumped into something. startled she screamed and tried to turn around as quickly as possible."what are you doing you almost gave me a heart attack."she said as she steadied her breathing.
After extensive hours spent scrutinizing the streets for suspicious terror activity, Desmond had grown tired. Before the sun had climbed over the horizon, the nephilim had been performing his duties as a TRS scout. It began with soaring above through the cold air of autumn, the temperature regulating charm managing to keep he maintain his body heat despite the weather. Throughout the morning, he had been seeking information about the possible location of terrors. The TRS uniform that embraced him made his affiliation obvious, the colours providing further details on his division. As the morning progressed with a frightening slowness, Desmond found himself weary as boredom invaded his mind. These were the type of days he would despise. Each second would be counted down as the nephilim awaited freedom to head home or possibly text his beloved crush.
When the next scout arrived to take his place, the male ginger headed on course to home. As usual, Desmond's grey wings stretched far as he flew home, the simple method of transportation proving to be useful and cost-effective for his family's living situation. He headed towards the southern section of the city where homes conquered the landscape with minimal businesses to interruptive the onslaught of housing. The nephilim's green eyes scrutinized the ground below from habit, watching the people below provide a lazy gaze towards the skies when his shadow passed. Once he noticed their small home amidst the others, Desmond swooped down to land at the front porch. A glance was taken behind him, the memory of the recent robbery in the area still fresh in his mind. He entered through the front door, unlocking it before closing it behind him louder than expected.
He believed he was the only one home, but Desmond's soft-footed steps from years of scouting made him difficult to hear. The ginger kicked his boots off at the door before continuing through the house, heading to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water before leaving the room. There was the subtle sounds of footsteps, the nephilim promptly keeping himself hidden to observe the possible perpetrator. A mischievous smirk crossed his lips when he noticed the long, ginger hair of his little sister Elysia; why she was home so early, Desmond was unsure. He watched for a few moments, avoiding her eyes with the assistance of teleports and his own quietness. When the opportunity presented itself, he stationed him behind her as she backing out of the kitchen. A loud scream shortly echoed through the home as Desmond chuckled back in response.
"Oh c'mon, scaring you is too tempting. Besides, Halloween is coming up, I am just preparing you," he teased playfully. "I didn't even know you were home until a few moments ago. By the way, why are you home so early?"
An opportunity to startle his younger sister could be occasionally too tempting to resist, although, Desmond always remained cautious about accomplishing it too frequently. While it always amused him, the nephilim did not desire to anger his sister too much; he did still care after all. As he awaited an answer, the male ginger took a sip from the water bottle.

honestly she didn't mind a good scare now and then. though she had to admit it was probably bad timing with the robbery still fresh in her mind. she had no idea what she would of done if the one she had bumped into hadn't been her brother. clearly she would have to come up with a better plan of action then call out to the intruder. she wasn't completely helpless. if need be she could of, well more like should of thrown up a shield.
of course with all that adrenaline pumping she had forgotten. she composed herself and stuck her tongue out at her brother. she shook her head and laughed at her brothers words. as much as he had scared her, she was ready to go to a haunted house. getting scared was fun, especially when she knew that she wasn't in any danger."yeah, it's not like i can scare you back."she said with a sigh.
that's right. as far as she knew no one was in the house. it seemed like he had thought the same."i figured you'd still be at work. my class was cancelled."she said as a yawn escaped her lips."i just woke up from a nap."she told him."what about you?"she asked him before walking towards the fridge. she usually ate after her class. she had skipped grabbing some food when she came home and went straight to her room for a nap.
There would be some who would find Desmond’s actions to be rather rude, especially considering the recent robbery. On some occasions, people would nearly start reacting with their fight response rather than simply fleeing; or in his sister’s case, screaming. Either way, the mischievous nephilim was rather amused with the provided reaction. A grin remained on his face, the male ginger already aware that revenge from his sister was unlikely, although, he would still remain alert. While the scout possessed his doubts, he preferred to make certain rather than facing Elysia's wrath in the future. When his sister stuck his tongue out, Desmond chuckled in response, shortly leaning against the frame of the living room entrance. Smoothly, he twisted off the cap to his water bottle and took a few gulps of the refreshing liquid.
Once he finished drinking, a few small laughs escaped his throat. The nephilim was hoping that Elysia would be unable to enact revenge, the young scout preferring to remain the primary trickster. The mentioning of work captured his attention, the nephilim shrugging.
“That’s good, less worries for me,” he teased. “As for me being home, just a bit earlier than I thought. My relief came early, so I was able to leave. Not to mention I worked all night, so they probably didn’t want to keep me waiting.”
The male ginger nodded in response to his sister’s explanation. The question promptly being turned back to him. After being home for only a few minutes, Desmond had not gained the opportunity to do much else.
“Just work so far. I was too busy startling you to get any further,” he answered with a chuckle.
While a few minutes had passed, Desmond remained amused over the memory of frightening his sister. Startling her was beyond fun and the trickster had no regrets about what he accomplished.

she didn't mind him scaring her. after all they had been with each other forever. she couldn't remember when it had started. it wasn't like he was always scaring her. she would be lying if she would say she didn't enjoy a little scare now and again. it's probably why she liked scary movies. at the end that's all it was, a movie. it's done and over. it would never happen to her. or so she hoped.
"i will get you good. one day."she said with a laugh. knowing very well he would more than likely be on guard for her revenge scare. besides the times she had tried she ended up scaring her father or simply got no reaction from des. he was a tricky one, that's a fact.
she smiled at his words. he worked so hard and at such an early age. both of them did. she did what she could for them, until eventually she could help with a job of her own. it didn't have to be said that there was no way they would of let her join the trs. she was always worried about her brother. checking in on him to make sure he was home and well. though she would have to admit it took a strong kind of person to do the things her brother and the others at the trs do.
she'd more than likely be in tears half the time."it sounds like you need a nap too."she smiled once more."unless you're hungry? do you want me to cook you up something?"she asked as she started to rummage through the fridge. she had no idea what she could make.
Growing up alongside Elysia resulted in numerous occasions to scare his younger sister. While some opportunities were missed on occasion, Desmond still discovered plenty of chances to spook her. The temptation was difficult for the mischievous nephilim to resist, especially considering the priceless reactions he was rewarded with whenever he managed to startle Elysia. There were even times where the young man would startle his father, oftentimes resulting in a sigh before it progressed to laughter. After mother had disappeared during the evening hours, they grew closer and supported one another. Thus, Desmond was capable of startling or tricking his family without any punishments; unless the trick went completely out of control. Furthermore, his family struggled to obtain sweet revenge considering his mastery in tricks.
here were moments when Desmond would remain nonchalant during attempts to startle him or notice before they could accomplish frightening him. Multiple of these moments resulted in the male ginger leading his unfortunate father into one of Elysia’s traps while he stood silently smirking.
“You say that, but we both know I am the master in this household,” Desmond teased. “You would have to try extra hard for that, Ely.”
An amused smirk touched his lips at the notion of Elysia startling him. There were suggestions Desmond could provide his sister to improve her skills, but he preferred avoiding the receiving end of her jokes. After a few moments, the nephilim pushed away from the wall, lifting his arms high to stretch his shoulders. Initially, he planned to retreat to his room for rest, until his sister offered him something to eat. During his scouting missions, Desmond rarely realized how hungry he was, thus the offered reminded him he should eat before resting.
“That would be great!” He exclaimed with a grin, excited to have Elysia’s cooking. “Might as well eat something before heading off to sleep. Do you want any help?”
The broad grin remained across Desmond’s lips as he ventured further into the kitchen. While the scout’s cooking skills were passable, he still enjoyed helping his younger sister if she allowed it.

there had been countless times her acts of revenge had failed. she had set her trap in place and in the end the only victim ended up being their dear old papa. there had been times where she was positive there father was nowhere to be seen, but always at the last minute he'd show up. she started to wonder if she had any help in finding her traps. oh, she had seen desmond around a couple of times when their father had been the victim. she knew he was good and clearly she didn't have to mention that fact. she laughed at his words."yeah yeah. master of disaster."she said teasingly. she was glad despite their mother leaving they had so many good times. all the bad memories were slowly, but surely replaced by happier ones. they didn't need her, it was clear that she didn't want them.
she simply smiled and nodded."oh, i have other tricks up my sleeve."she said with a laugh. it seemed like he was ready to leave the kitchen until she had mentioned food. she hadn't eaten since breakfast. she smiled once more. she loved having help in the kitchen, then there were times when she needed to do everything herself. though usually that only happened when she was baking."i'd love some help, but first what should we eat?"she asked him as she continued to look at the contents of their fridge.
There was endless enjoyment in bothering his younger sister, the mischievious nephilim rarely missing opportunities to provide some light-hearted tricks or scares. In their family, these tricks and scares were common because of Desmond's presence in the abode. The male ginger enjoyed the humour in hassling others with a harmless prank, it was irresistible. A chuckle escaped his mouth at the teasing since the master of disaster sounded right to the nephilim. There was no denying the occurrences of disasters because of his tricks, large messes being a common result of these pranks Desmond would frequently pull. Numerous evenings were spent cleaning up after his tricks, although, replaying the reaction made every second worth the proceeding turmoil. Another chuckle escaped the scout's lips at the mentioning of Elysia having tricks up her sleeves. The male ginger was already arranging plans to avoid the tricks whirling in his sister's mind; he needed to keep his title as a trickster.
The smile towards his offer to help was reassuring, Desmond promptly reciprocating the action by allowing a grin to stretch across his lips. When provided the opportunity to pick the food of choice, the male gave a small shrug in response. There were rarely foods he disliked, although, he always preferred sweeter tastes because of his sugar addiction.
"I'm not picky," he began. "Pick whatever you want and I will eat."
A reassuring smile touched Desmond's lips as he took a few steps further into the kitchen. He waited near the small, wooden table where their meals were oftentimes eaten. While the scout was capable of cooking, he believed Elysia was better at the activity, thus he waited patiently for his sister to provide the instructions.

she couldn't help but continue to laugh along with him. it seemed by his reaction that she had picked a correct title. she believed he truly deserved it, but in a good way of course.
he had offered to help with the food preparation, which didn't happen often. not because she didn't need or want help, but because everyone had weird schedules. whoever was home first would be in charge of dinner. elysia tried to be in charge. she wasn't that overloaded with work like des and her father. after all it wasn't like they wouldn't have her help if they were stuck cooking. she had the menu stuck on the fridge for all to see. of course that wasn't to say meals couldn't switch days.
she shook her head and laughed."indecisive if more what comes to mind."she says teasingly."im kidding im thankful i didn't get stuck with a picky eater."she grinned, not that they had much to be picky about.. she pondered for a moment remember what was in the fridge."how about grilled cheese and soup?"that was easy enough. they had canned soup in the pantry and cook up some grilled cheese wasn't too difficult."or perhaps a blt?"
There was a constant confliction of schedules inside the Wilts household, although, after the abrupt leaving of their mother, it was inevitable. Their father earned a limited amount of income despite working himself to the bone, thus stepping in to keep everything together was necessary. Oftentimes, Desmond found himself receiving a handful of peculiar hour frames because of his occupation as a scout and father was frequently taking overtime or finding a temporary second job to assure they could live well. This resulted in Elysia being left in charge of cooking on most occasions, although, Desmond would attempt to assist whenever he was available. The male ginger enjoyed helping his sister which resulted in these opportunities being taken when they were presented; besides, his younger sister was a wonderful cook and he felt this was the small thanks he could provide for hundreds of meals.
The teasing about indecisiveness resulted in a quiet chuckle escaping Desmond's throat, a wide grin stretching across his cheeks. While Elysia provided some options, the male ginger remained near the table, pondering the possibilities of what they could eat. After his long shift scouting, he figured simplicity was a better option, furthermore, that would grant his sister a break from spending so much time cooking.
"Let's stick with whatever is easier and quicker. I still have to sleep after all," Desmond suggested.
While Desmond was certain he could recover quickly from the extensive work shift, it was a favoured approach. Hours of hard work made the plush surface of a bed and cozy embrace of blankets a pleasant thought. He yearned for those quiet moments in a bed, the weariness weighing more than expected.

now it was her turn to ponder the options. it seemed like he wanted to eat and go sleep. honestly it seemed like the blt would be quicker, but both seemed to perhaps take the same amount of time. she would have to cook the bacon and that took a bit of time. if des wanted to help he could cut up the ingredients. honestly time didn't matter to her. it felt like a soup and sandwich kind of day. she nodded to herself as she made a decision."tomato soup and grilled cheese it is. they just go together so well."she said with a smile.
"you want to do the soup? i believe we still have a few cans left. don't forget to add a cup of milk per can that you use."she told him before returning to the fridge to gather the supplies for the cheesy grilled cheese."i'll make the grilled cheese."she said as she managed to close the door with cheese and butter in one hand and in the other the bread. she set the things down on the table before going to find a large enough pan to cook up the grilled cheese. she grabbed two plates and placed two slices on each. she took over one side of the stove and placed the pan and turned on the heat. she rummaged through the utensil drawer pulling out a butter knife and a spatula.
she wasn't sure if it was silly, simply making lunch with her brother made her happy. his was a dangerous job and she always worried whenever he left the house. it wasn't that she didn't believe in his skills and she was sure that he was as careful as possible. things could change in an instant. it gave her comfort knowing he was here, about to enjoy a meal with her. she hummed softly while she prepared the grilled cheese. butter one side of each slice of bread before setting it in the pan and placing a slice of cheese on top.
There was a pause as Desmond waited for his sister to provide the long-awaited answer of what they would eat for lunch. Grilled cheese and tomato soup was the ultimate verdict for their food. The choice could easily be divided into two jobs, his sister easily taking command of the kitchen, albeit, in a kind and polite manner. Admittedly, the nephilim preferred receiving an easier job because of the sleepiness that plagued him. Knowing his luck, he would glance away for a few moments and accidentally burn the food. A smile touched the trickster's lips as he provided his sister with a nod of agreement to the assigned job. Promptly afterwards the cooking began, Desmond walking towards the pantry and grabbing a can of tomato soup. The can be placed onto the counter before Desmond went to grab a suitable bowl and the can opener; temporarily placing the can opener into the glass bowl. After they were placed on the counter beside the soup can, the nephilim quickly grabbed the milk and whisk.
In a few simple and quickly times moves, Desmond secured the can opener and began twisting the knob to begin the process. Once the cutter began opening the can, the male ginger glanced towards his little sister, a curious gleam in his green eyes.
“So, how’s school going?” Desmond inquired. “Anyone causing you trouble?”
There were a few of these quieter moments when the nephilim gained the opportunity to have a proper conversation with his younger sister. As a result, he fretted about her well-being occasionally despite knowing she possessed a safer occupation than his own. There were past incidents where Desmond’s younger sister had gotten tangled in, the most prominent involving young boys who adored her kindness. Smoothly, Desmond proceeded to twist the handle until the metal top was cut from the can. With cautious fingers, the scout adjusted the sharp, metal circle until finally he could pluck it from the top and toss it into the trash can. Once the lid was removed, the thick, orange contents of the can be poured into the bowl. Shortly afterwards, milk was poured into the can to properly measure the ratio before being poured into the bowl. As the whisking process began, Desmond’s eyes flitted between his sister and the orange liquid forming in the bowl.

after dividing up the jobs. they each got started. elysia hummed softly as she worked. though the silence wasn't going to last forever. she had finished buttering the bread and was placing each slice on the hot pan. she added the slices of cheese on two slices before placing the other piece of bread on top of the ones with cheese. forgetting the spatula she returned to the drawer.
desmond had asked her how school was going and before she had a chance to answer. she heard his next question and instantly started to blush. her thoughts would always go back to the day her brother had to step in and save her.
she had claimed she had it under control, though they both knew nothing was going to be resolved with the way she was handling things. she returned back to the pan and flipped each sandwich over."school is going good. just finished some exams. it was terrible i swear i had an exam in each class."she said with a frown.
she cleared her throat, the blush still on her cheeks."if that's your way of asking if im having any boy troubles the answer is no."she told him before looking up at him."what about you. how's work?"she said before chewing her lip trying to remember that one guy's name."oh, i haven't heard you talk about zach in a while."she said with a smile. if there was anything she could have it would be to see her brother truly happy. he and their father meant the world to her.
They worked beside one another, Desmond proceeding to steadily stir the contents in the bowl while his sister cooked the grilled cheese for their lunch. the pleasant sizzle from the bread being laid unto the warm pan which already made the nephilim hunger for food. Work was straightforward but nonetheless strenuous and hunger-inducing. The male ginger continued whisking the bowl of soup until finally all the slimy soup mix properly mixed into the milk placed into the bowl. For a few moments, Desmond scrutinized the soup before grinning down at the mixture. The glass bowl was picked up from the counter, the male ginger sliding the bow into the microwave before punching in the numbers. After the start button was hit, the microwave began humming, warming the contents inside. While Desmond proceeded to grab two more bowls while he listened to Elysia.
There was a short laugh when his younger sister mentioned no boy troubles, the nephilim chuckled, glancing behind him to witness her cheeks go red. It was amusing to fluster Elysia with notions like boy troubles. When work was mentioned, Desmond responded with a simple shrug.
"Uneventful, so I would say good," Desmond answered.
The instant Elysia mentioned Zachary, his heart skipped a beat as his cheeks turned a soft red colour. Merely mentioning the beautiful angel's name caused Desmond's heart to beat wildly in joy as he imagined the dark-haired man; he was so handsome. There were plenty of things that transpired between himself and the delightful doctor who he crushed on. After a few moments, the nephilim glanced away, his cheeks still reddened.
"Zac is good... We've been hanging out a lot lately," Desmond murmured nervously.
While Desmond's heart proceeded to rapidly beat inside the cage of his chest. His beloved crush caused these intense emotions to conquer his thoughts, fixating them on the beautiful man. There was something special about the man, allowing the male ginger to enjoy his company. After a few minutes, the microwave beeped, declaring the heating process as done. Hastily, Desmond fetched the whisk before taking the bowl out of the microwave to stir; it was an excuse to avoid the gazes of his sister.

elysia hummed softly as she flipped each sandwich. she was enjoying being able to cook along side her brother. watching him, whisk the milk and soup. soon the silence had been broken and desmond wanted to know if she had anymore conflicts. she was still embarrassed, not that he had to defend her, but that she was too weak to solve the problem herself. she knew no matter what des would always look out for her and she would do the same for him.
she looked away once her cheeks started to flush."yes, im far to busy with school and work to get wrapped up in silly things like that. i've learned my lesson."she told him with a sigh. once the sandwiches were nice and brown on both sides she turned off the burner and placed a sandwich on eat plate and set them on the table."sandwiches are done."she told him with a smile.
oh, but eylsia had her own questions up her sleeve and would watch him to see a reaction. she smiled softly at him. people in love were so cute. she moved closer to him and attempted to poke his cheek."are you blushing?"she teased him with a smile."only hanging out? no dates. should i call him and give him the hint?"elysia continued before bringing over bowls and spoons to the table.
