Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Hector stopped walking when Persephone started to disappear from his range of sight. The crowd continued to run down, not even showing any signs of dispersing. His eybrows creased with worry, he scanned the crowd for any signs of the shorter woman. Maybe he had just missed her because of her small stature, but it would be impossible to miss her from this crowd. There was just too many people around here.
[break][break]"Percy!" He shouted for her, voice draining in the crowd. "Percy, where are you?!"
[break][break]It was only after a moment's panic that he saw her from the distance, jumping and waving her arms in the air. He could almost hear her mouthing "come to me" to him, but because of the crowd's noise, he couldn't be too sure. But he would come to her, though, that's for sure. He already knew that if she's calling for him, it's because something was happening.
[break][break]Hector pushed through the crowd once more, this time towards where Percy was situated at. He didn't know what she was up to, but for a moment he could see the water from the sea suddenly moving and forming something that still wasn't clear to Hector. The man smirked inwardly. Must be Percy and her water tricks again.
[break][break]It took long, but finally he panted and stopped in front of the water nymph, wiping sweat off his brow. "Alright... I'm here. What's going... oh..." He stopped midsentence upon seeing another path made of water that seemed to arc from the edge of the cliff towards the murder site. Hector beamed in amazement. With another path, they could get to the situation more quickly!
[break][break]"Persephone, you are a genius." He complimented the woman with an approving nod and a smile. He then turned to the water bridge. "Well, shall we, then?"
The remaining individuals continued pushing and moving, making the giant mass of people wreathe. Despite the crowding, Persephone managed to steady her platforms of ice, balancing them on the long water tendrils that spiralled from the sea. The occasional person glanced towards her in confusion, but the water nymph continued her meticulous task. There was no attention given towards the possibility that Hector may have failed to notice her since focus was required on the complex project involving both water and ice. While she possessed a mastery in water manipulation, she always found steam and ice to be difficult for manipulation purposes. The water stretched across the gap, the nymph bringing several other long tendrils up, ultimately making the situation more taxing as she continued working towards her primary goal. Behind her, she could hear somebody speaking, but she ignored the words to complete her task.
A deep inhale followed by an extensive release of breath, the nymph's eyes closing as she lowered the temperature of her water-based structure; down to the shallow's floor. There were noises that reverberated through the air as the water transformed into a solid component, ice. When her eyes opened, a thin smile touched the woman's lips as she stared across the shiny surface of the ice, the bridge stretching around, an alternative route to the top of the cliff. Afterwards, she noticed Hector who she presumed was ignored during her bridge building.
"Now we can go, ice is easier to walk across," Persephone stated. "You first. Be careful, the ice is fresh and a bit slippery. I pebbled it a little bit."
Across the ice's surface were tiny bumps created to assist in journeying across the gap. Quietly, the nymph waited for Hector to start moving with plans of melting the bridge behind them. While the bridge was sturdy, Persephone wanted to avoid overcrowding considering a single fall could be a horrible demise.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] The bridge is finally done. Hector looks at it with awe, observing the structure of the said bridge. Tiny bumps were newly formed around the bridge to seemingly assist the person (or persons) crossing it. One last time, Hector smiled and nodded. Nymphs were quite the resourceful creatures, Hector noted.
[break][break]Beside Hector, he heard Percy say something, and for a moment he could say nothing. He managed to turn to her and nod, though, and the next thing he knew, he was already taking a careful step on the bridge. Looking down wouldn't be helpful at this point; he was, after all, one of the people who had a minor fear of heights and falling off cliffs. But he'd gotten himself and Persephone into all this trouble, though, so might as well pay the price, eh?
[break][break]He sighed and took another step, until finally he found himself walking along the bridge and allowing his feet to be blocked by the bumps as he walked. Turning back to Percy, he stopped shortly and raised an eyebrow. "What are you planning to do?" He asked, before continuing on his way.
The freshly created bridge was a shimmering glory of ice stretching across the curved gap of the cliffside. Carefully, Persephone flitted her eyes between her impressive creation and Hector, a gleam of pride entering her steel coloured eyes. The preparation of the bridge harolded their perilous venture across the pebbled ice. The nymph stepped aside, allowing Hector access to her creation, watching his careful steps onto bridge. After the man slowly inched further onto the icy pathway, Persephone smoothly stepped onto the pebbled surface. Cold radiated from the surface, breaching her water shoes and chilling her feet. The woman glanced towards the bystanders, a portion staring at her and pointing towards the bridge, curiosity touching their expression. Slowly, the nymph took a few small steps backwards, hearing Hector inquiry as she ventured further on the bridge.
"Melting it," Persephone responded briefly.
Without hesitation, the water nymph began focusing, the ice deteriorating from the sudden implication of water manipulation forcing for rapid melting. Hastily, the bridge was disconnected from the starting point, forcing it to rely on the large, ice pillars that reached up from the depths of the ocean. Momentarily, Persephone spared a glance behind her while continuing to step backwards and melt the bridge. As the pair inched across the icy structure, the bridge shrinking as they proceeded across the ice bridge.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Careful steps were always good. Yes. With careful steps, there is a low risk of falling off from the bridge. Even though he was struggling and the bridge was getting cold underneath his feet (something that he thought was probably overreacting, but hey his feet were sensitive), he had to keep going. Firstly because he can't refuse to go along without convincing Percy because he'd led both of them into this situation anyways. Secondly, here they were now. There's no going back.
[break][break]Percy replied to him, saying that she was melting the bridge, which for Hector was quite a smart thing to do if they both didn't want any overcrowding. The bridge was quite thin and only fit for the two of them. He stopped for a brief moment and looked over at the crowd, seeing a few curious individuals stopping and pointing at the bridge with wondering looks on their faces. He smirked and looked over to Percy with a nod to himself. Well, if they wanted to cross the bridge, they missed their chances. Percy was already melting it.
[break][break]"Oh look, Percy. They want to cross the bridge." He jokingly said with a small chuckle, referring to the curious people pointing at the bridge they were crossing on. They were almost at the murder site, actually. Just a few more steps left and...
[break][break]Finally, after a few more steps, Hector stepped on the grainy sand and sighed in relief. Finally that entire traverse was finished! Looking back at Percy to see if she was okay, he then looked over to the spot he was standing on right now. The young man realized it right away; it was the edge of the cliff that Percy had jumped from a while earlier, and now the location of a murder.
[break][break]"...Looks like we've finally arrived."
Hesitant steps were taken backwards as Persephone continued accelerated the melting of portions of the bridge. Water dribbled from the bridge, the pillars easily supporting the remainder of the bridge. The breathing was soft as the water nymph focused on detaching their bridge while slowly continuing her way across. Should she fall from the heights, the assassin knew she could raise herself with her manipulating skills. The backpedalling was slow paced, the water nymph smoothly deteriorating the bridge, only leaving thick pillars jutting from the watery depths of the ocean. The cold surface continued chilling her feet, generating a slight stinging sensation from her withdrawn stay on the bridge. They were nearly halfway across the bridge of ice, numerous individual's managing to notice the incredible presence of their travelling construct. There was wonder captured in their eyes as they stared with awe at the spectacle occurring on the cliffside.
When the joke-ish comment arrived, Persephone favoured it with an eye roll; she was not intending for rudeness, but focusing was necessary to continue the gradual melting without risking a severe fall. The gradual retreat across the bridge was eventually greeted with the crunch of sand beneath the water nymph's feet and the vanishing of cold. A grin crosses Persephone's face for only a moment, her thoughts returning to the icy pillars as the remainder of the bridge itself melted, leaving the supports. The focus returned to her face as she drew in a breath, closed her eyes and released it slowly. Once the hair escaped her mouth, her eyes opened and further manipulation began. Only sections of the pillars were melted, de-stabilizing them so large chunks of ice crumbled down. The splashes created were large, misty droplets managing to reach the height of the cliffside, but nothing life-threatening to the area.
Once the job was completed, the woman turned to face Hector, a nod acting as her confirmation towards their arrival. Cautiously, Persephone continued forward, her steel eyes noticing the frightened and disgusted faces and nose managing to detect the familiar smell of blood. The entire area proved to be the scene of the murder, the terrified faces accompanied by sobbing from lost loved ones was all around. The nymph remained indifferent since it all reminded her why she never returned to the scene of a crime; the emotions were always intense after all.
[ XD Why can I see them having these moments a lot? Cause Percy somewhat enjoys heights. ]

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] He turns to the curious people who were watching them cross the bridge, then chuckles softly as Persephone rolls her eyes at his teasing. Well, she's busy with that bridge, which is understandable if she didn't want any distractions, but sometimes fun can always be considered a plus when it comes to serious situations like this. Ah, no matter. He turns back to the cliff and watches the scenery down below from where they were standing on.
[break][break]He manages to get over his minor fear of heights while watching the people. Some were crying and lamenting over the death of this fellow; probably his loved ones who witnessed the crime. Blood was everywhere in that one spot in the sea; the body was still floating on that said circle of blood. So far there aren't any police or reinforcements around to assist the people.
[break][break]As Persephone stands beside him, he clicks his tongue and shakes his head, closing his eyes. "Seeing people cry makes me sad, for some reason. Although I've got no time to sympathize with them." He stated in a quiet voice, looking away from the sobbing people from below them.
[break][break]"But somehow... I can relate to how they feel."
[break][break]Of course, this insight or view should dissipate in a situation like this; there was no time to listen to any sob stories unless you were asked to retell it. His face turns serious and he turns back to the body; somehow it's become quite a normal sight for him that he doesn't fear it just by looking anymore. "But some people must hate this man, or he has a serious debt to settle with someone. They're probably running around cheering his death."
There was the song of sobbing as Persephone stood, grey eyes fixating on the unfortunate crowd. While there were merely a chosen few with years trailing down their cheeks, horrified expressions marked the faces of the remaining citizens. There were murmurs throughout the crowd, some immediately presuming interferance from the Assembly of Phantoms solely from their disgraceful name among the general populace of Lorsette. Within the throng of people. there were individuals who argued otherwise, stating it to merely be because of the rampant crime rate that the city received. A soft sigh escaped the nymph's lips, her eyes promptly turned away from the crowd as she carefully walked towards the edge of the cliff, gazing down towards the water where the bloody body surfed over the waves, the blood polluting the water.
There were a few moments where Persephone silently observed the body, curious about the crime that occurred on the cliff. When she heard Hector spoke, her grey eyes flitted towards him as he stated his sympathies. After a few moments, she took a few steps away from the cliff, attention momentarily fixating on the shifter before gazing at the crowd.
"Everybody cries. Relating is bound to occur given the conditions of earth itself," she mumbled half-heartedly.
Secretly, the nymph could easily sympathize with those who lamented over the unfortunate death of their beloved friend or family member. The loss of her father two years ago had transformed her into this cold shell of her former self, reaching length to deny herself the endless affection of her beloved Kayla; the woman always displayed immense care. There was a silent prayer that the loss would not result in similar circumstances as her; the endless search for her father's murderers was somewhat an obsession.
"Naturally, or a crazed lunatic required blood," she responded neutrally.
Care never breached the woman's words as she continued to stare towards the crowd, watching them disperse back towards the beach as sirens echoed in the distance. When the police arrived, the situation would be taken care of and the citizens called back from the cliff side.
"We should leave," Persephone stated.
While the police remained unaware of the illegal actions, there was always a mild tensity that arrived with the presence of law enforcement for the assassin. The feelings she held towards them remained hidden by the chillingly cold demeanor, the woman already walking towards the dirt path to take her leave.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] The cries of loved ones from the crowd continued, and while there are only a few of them grieving for the body, some are showing and telling their sympathies while others simply stared with wide eyes at the body still floating in the water. He'd also heard some arguments from the people as to who had killed the man; may be the Assembly of Phantoms causing trouble again, or simply a lunatic or a person who hated the victim for personal reasons.
[break][break]He listens to Persephone make her say and he simply nods in agreement. Indeed, she is correct. Thousands of murders happen everyday, as well, and as those happen, people will cry. While there may be other reasons as to how a person dies, Hector couldn't be sure. Of course, he could still always relate. He has grieved lost ones when he was very young, but it has all been buried in the past now.
[break][break]Hector turns to Persephone and momentarily looks her in the eyes, before turning away.
[break][break]I wonder if she feels the same...
[break][break]He then hears the police sirens blaring in the distance, and sure enough, police cars and figures of the law has surrounded the area, driving witnesses and curious onlookers away from the crime scene. Persephone states that they should take leave, walking away from the cliff first before he does.
[break][break]Hector stares at the leaving Persephone, then briefly looks down from the cliff where the body fell from. Such a tragedy has occurred today, one of the many things that could be happening around the world right now. Hector sighs and turns, following after Persephone as he climbs down the cliff.
There was a solemness to the descend from the cliff, Persephone resigning herself to a sorrowful silence. Years of bringing this aftermath lingered heavy on the assassin's mind as a hidden pang of guilt struck her stomach, although, she refused to allow her emotions breach her countenance. The forbidden action was allowing those around her a glimpse of her inner thoughts, her occupation assisting in the smooth accomplishment of her hidden feelings. Momentarily, the nymph eyes flitted across the crowd, managing to notice the various retreating individuals who began the extensive walk towards the pale shores of Starlight Beach. The distant police sirens kept a steady pace in the nymph's step, the sound of halting cars reaching her ears as she managed to get to the foot of the path. Hastily, exercised individuals in blue RCMP uniforms hurried past, their direction being the top of the cliff.
There was a small dispatch remained on the beach, coaxing citizens away from the cliff by any means necessary. Only a brief moment was spent witnessing the sudden organization of people before the assassin turned away and continued down the beach. In the sand were her small footprints as she silently left the area, the eyes of the crowd more fixating on the police rather than the criminal who lurked among them. There was a pause as her gaze shifted towards Hector, her pace pausing for merely a moment.
"What will you be doing now?" She inquired, a mild curiosity sparking.
While Persephone preferred being alone, she could admittedly tolerate the company of another individual on occasion. Furthermore, there was the possibility of Hector being aware of some names in the situation, which were all valuable assets should she report the incident to Phoenix. An organized summary of events could earn her some popularity with the hellspawn, which could be required if her fellow assassin ever ran into that man; that mission would be hers at all costs.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Their climb down the cliff was silent enough, with no words coming from both the nymph and the shifter. However, Hector was too involved in his thoughts right now. The murder that happened today had suddenly brought forth memories that should be forgotten. The blood and the position of the victim in the water was enough to remind him of that bitter past-- but no. He refused to talk about that right now.
[break][break]Hector glances at the thinning crowds after finally reaching the foot of the cliff; some were turning to leave, while others stayed behind to watch the police work on the crime behind restricted tapes. His eyes soften and he shook his head, closing his eyes and stopping for a brief moment. Why did he ever think about bringing himself and Percy to that murder site again? Was it just curiosity?
[break][break]...Or maybe it was something else...
[break][break]His thoughts were disrupted when Persephone suddenly asks what he will be doing now, since it's all done. Hector blinks at Percy with no answer, then turns to the beach. Truth be told, he was thinking about spending the rest of the day here, but what more could he be doing else here? Too be honest, though, he did come here to get some company and enjoy himself; perhaps checking the corpse out with an acquaintance was enough company and fun for him for now.
[break][break]...But it wasn't.
[break][break]Hector simply smiled and shrugged his shoulders. "I... I don't know, really." He replied, turning back to Percy. "I was thinking about going home, but I wanted to spend the rest of the day here... like I said, I don't know."
Silently, Persephone's eyes settled on the distant boats dancing across the horizon while small whitecaps travelled towards the shore. There was the steady sounds of waves crashing aginst the sandy shores, seagulls squawking above. For a few moments, the nymph's eyes lingered their as she contemplated the occurrences of the beach. A majority of citizens were clearing out, while those boats perhaps remained unaware of the unfortunate individual who toppled from the cliffside. Another soft sigh escaped the assassin's lips, the concept of a single death being smoothly forgotten in a city of thousands of graves was always a strange concept; that man was merely another casualty. Despite not maintaining eye contact, Persephone listened to her mysterious company before slowly shifting her gaze towards him. Uncertainty in the face of tragedy seemed a common response.
Loved ones found their futures thrown in disarray while witnesses became concerned about the possible interrogations that could arrive should their names get out; whether they answered those knocks were questionable. Getting involved in these types of affairs could always be a frightening concept, and unfortunately, there were many who preferred to resign to silent, refusing the victim their justice.
"Makes sense," she mumbled. "I should go. There is not much else I can accomplish here."
The nymph's words had faint hints of softness and sympathy which was a breach in her usually cold demeanour. The assassin understood the haunting shadow of grief beyond what could be expected. Quietly, she turned her back to the waves and began walking up the beach, heading back towards town. It appeared best to return home and avoid possible trouble from authorities.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] It was a tragic day, indeed. One death out of all the thousands that could happen right now. Hector sighs and simply stands beside Persephone, looking back at the beach one more time. He couldn't help but remain curious about the whereabouts of the onlookers and the discoveries of the police. But there wasn't much to look at anymore, so he simply shrugs and turns back to Starlight Beach.
[break][break]Then Persephone says one last thing before starting to walk away from him and towards her own path, leaving him to watch behind her. The young man simply waves back at her even though he knows she probably won't look back at him anymore. "Goodbye, Persephone." He calls out one last time, before sighing and walking away himself.
[break][break]May I see you again, soon.
[break][break]While Hector leaves, the police begin to walk up the cliff that he and Persephone had just been earlier. He feels a pat on his shoulder, making him turn around to see a police officer looking at him with a raised eyebrow. "Excuse me, may I ask you, good sir? Have you seen how the victim has killed himself?"
[break][break]The young man simply shakes his hand, making the officer leave. He lingers on for yet another moment, before shrugging and continuing on the sandy path towards his summer blanket.
[break][break]It was... strange. This day.
[break][break]But at least he got to experience it with another.
