Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
no one had gotten hurt. well, no one but him. it wasn't anything major, nothing that couldn't be fixed up with a couple days rest. it was just a small scratch on his arm. nothing that a couple of stitches couldn't fix. that was the thing, just because he needed a few stitches it seemed like it was such a big deal. it wasn't like he hadn't gotten injuries before. though perhaps this one could of been avoided had he not been taken by surprise. things happened that were out of one's control. he wasn't phased by it. hell, he didn't even notice he was bleeding till someone had told him.
now he was currently waiting to get treated. the medic had entered the room but had walked out apologizing saying something about forgetting to bring something along. he simply shrugged and said it was fine. it wasn't like he was bleeding profusely. the field medic had managed to at least stop the bleeding by wrapping gauze around it. the sooner they had returned the better it would be to actually assess the damage. a small yawn escaped his lips. he was ready to go home, shower and sleep for a couple of hours. he had been sitting on the bed, but it seemed like they were taking their sweet time. he laid back and closed his eyes for a few seconds.
had he not heard the screams he probably would of fallen asleep. honestly it was the medic wards and he didn't find it too out of the ordinary. people were rushed in here with all sorts of injuries. though something about it didn't seem right. he hopped onto his feet especially after hearing the banging on his door. as soon as he opened the door the scene in front of him didn't seem like it was real. it was utter chaos, people running, fighting and not moving at all. he stood there a little dumbfounded trying to make sense of what was happening around him. someone screamed for help and that seemed to get him out of his stupor. he rushed towards the voice but before he reached them he was shoved back."that was a little rude."
ettled in an unoccupied room alongside their guide, a burly man who doubled as a bodyguard and escort for the blind informant. Calmly, Felix's hands remained folded in their lap, cane lying beside them, waiting for their master's hand to firmly grip the head. Today, the informant was expected to meet with a scout and relay the notes gathered through careful wandering about Lorsette alongside asking questions. There was little information to report to the scouting division this afternoon, the Assembly of Phantoms being oddly quiet.
Silently, Felix sat, listening to the subtle movements of their bodyguard and the chirps of content birds outside the room's window. Patience was key in these moments, thus the blind individual remained stationary as they waited for the company of the expected scout. There was something peaceful about the room near the medical ward, each passerby serenely crossing by the door without any hustle. Static covered the entirety of their current location, allowing Felix to have a thorough idea of the furniture and a portion of the items.
Comfortably, Felix remained stationary on the smooth, leather couch. Around them, the room was completely composed of shapes in the blind man’s electrokinesis-based sight. In front of Felix was a rectangular coffee table with a design carved into the work, however, deducing the material and exact pattern was near-impossible without fixation. Across from there couch was another couch, presumably of identical make and material. Bookshelves lined the walls, only breaking for the small window placed meters behind Felix and their bodyguard.
A loudspeaker secured in a corner position of the room patiently waited, TRS agents dreading the day alarms buzzed and it spouted out safety commands. Those set of occurrences required bold moves to be accomplished by the Assembly of Phantoms, therefore, it appeared unlikely anything drastic would happen. Thus, Felix radiated tranquillity as they calmly remained in their seat, awaiting a scout to arrive and process the new information. Rustles of restlessness sounded from the couch as Felix's bodyguard began flipping through a small notebook prepared the scout on behalf of the informant with the assistance of somebody with proper eyesight.
Silence choked them, neither individual placing effort into creating a conversation. Both planned on accomplishing their daily tasks, the bodyguard staying on high alert. After the dangerous activities occurring where Felix eavesdropped, therefore, the individual was provided with somebody to protect them. Still, quiet, movement limited to the mere chest rises and compressions from breathing in oxygen. Abruptly, everything changed without warning in a frightful, unexpected manner. Headquarters rattled, Felix arm reaching to steady themself, however, a muscular arm wrapped around their shoulders, pressing them against a brawny chest.
Items rattled, books toppling from their positions on the shelf, smacking hard into the floor. Rapidly, Felix's heart slammed against their sternum as fear conquered their mental state. Trembles rattled the blind individual's body from the sudden shaking of the building and thunderous bangs of explosions impacting headquarters. The stillness was the aftermath for mere seconds before crackles echoed from the loudspeaker before alarms blared. A gasp of pain escaped Felix's mouth as their hands reached to cover their ears.
Noise smacked into the purple-haired informant with the force of a sledgehammer swung by a dragon. The strong arm maintained a firm grip around Felix's shoulders, the bodyguard named Bruce already completely aware of the side effects manifested from their enhanced memory. Sirens echoed through the headquarters, consistent, screeching about the circumstances of headquarters, however, a brimming headache kept Felix from moving. Minutes passed, people scurrying outside, some screaming in a crazed panic while others shouted commands. Sounds kept erupting from the loudspeakers, the device clearly planning on continuing with the headache-inducing noises.
Gradually, the blind individual peeled their hands away from their ears, a grimace breaching their face as the sound invaded. Static dissipated from the rooms as electricity manipulation failed to allow sight. Headaches ruined focus, Felix discovering quickly sensing the world around them was impossible. Alert, eyes constantly flitting around, the bodyguard fixated on the world around them while holding his young charge close. Moments later, Bruce's eyes returned to the blind individual, the loudspeakers informing them to head to the gymnasium.
"Are you alright, Felix?" He stated, raising his voice to break through the sirens.
Concern graced the large man's voice, although the blind individual was hesitant to speak from the throbbing, painful headache pulsating in their head.
"I have a headache, however, physically I am fine," Felix answered in a quiet mumble. "I cannot see, unfortunately..."
Shakily, Felix grasped the handle of their cane, the frightful headache-causing difficulties in comfortably moving. Once the cane was firmly held in their hand, the bodyguard assisted in getting the blind informant to their feet. Normally, the assistance would be greeted with a fierce independence, however, the intense pain kept Felix's complaints silent. Tightly, Bruce kept an arm around his young charge, leading them to the doorway, opening it and displaying the chaos outside. People were shouting, a single word causing Felix to stiffen. People were screaming about terrors, the Assembly of Phantoms and an attack on the medical ward itself.
The silence from the group was explained in mere moments, they were rallying troops, preparing for a mass scale attack on headquarters itself. Briefly, Felix chastised themself for failing to comprehend what the quieted moment meant, alas, those thoughts were required to be shoved into the furthest reaches of their mind to focus on the present issue. A scream for assistance breached their ears, the blind individual pausing before glancing at their guard.
"Assist them, I'll be fine," Felix stated, tone insisting, albeit, pain-stricken.
Hesitance marked their personal guard’s motions and expression, however, he lightly pushed his young charge into the room and hurried over to protect the screaming ward medic. Within seconds, a shield composed light materialized in the hallway’s mouth, however, left slits for hunters to hastily rush through. Meanwhile, the endangered medic rushed back, joining the throng of fleeing people. Only when yowls of a terror’s pain echoed through the hallway did Bruce’s shield disappear in favour of returning to his charge.
Alas, the dragon bodyguard was unfamiliar with the headquarter’s layout, therefore, he required an escort. As his eyes discovered a long-haired man with a scout’s uniform, Bruce approached the man.
“I need some assistance if you would follow me,” the professional dressed bodyguard requested.
Should the injured man decide to follow Bruce, he would be promptly lead towards where the blind individual anxiously waited. Quietly, Felix stood, sightless and pained from the emergency loudspeakers echoing their commands through the building, awaiting the return of their protector. They were slightly obscured by the doorway, Bruce assuring Felix would be safe for those few minutes of absence. Fear lurked in their mind with the passing of every second, the young individual pressing themself against the wall beside the room’s threshold, waiting in trepidation.
It was complete chaos. He couldn’t tell who was injured and who was trying to stay safe. The fact that there had been tremors, knocking people off their feet. The instructions had been clear, but whether they were heard that was a different case. He had been standing there for a couple of seconds just watching things unfold in front of him. He watched and waited before making a move.anything was possible, but he wasn’t sure if this really was happening. The screams broke through his shock. Snapping him out of his trance he rushed towards the screams.
Though his attempt at helping wasn’t successful. Before he had the opportunity to reach them he had been thrown back. It wasn’t as if he knew who had been asking for help, but this certainly wasn’t helping his cause. He ignored the pain in his arm as he dragged himself up. He never did manage to get this stitches. Again he told himself it wasn’t even a big deal, it wasn’t too bad. He would survive. He’d get it checked out eventually. Right now there were more important matters to attend to. It seemed what ever had tossed him aside was no longer interested.
A bit disoriented it took his a few seconds to get back up on his feet. It was fine sooner or later he would have to deal with whoever is attacking. He was ready to attack whatever had tossed him aside, though it seemed that the creature was no longer interested in him. That didn't stop him from going after it. If it was preoccupied with gideon that meant it was one less creature attacking those that couldn’t defend themselves. He managed to throw a shield between the creature and the person they were attacking.
He yelled at them to run towards the stairs, while he took off in the opposite direction. Hoping the creature would be following behind. His plan was to corner it and keep it trapped until it could be destroyed. Rounding a corner he managed to fade from sight. As soon as the terror was in position gideon brought up another shield and keeping it in place. Without looking back, he started to patrol the area to see if there were any survivors left on this floor.
he couldn’t help it, his thoughts wandered to demetria. Where was she at this moment? Was she safe? She was tough, but could be a bit reckless. Locating her would be his next objective He had stumbled upon another group of survivors fleeing. Though this group wasn’t in any immediate danger they had people protecting them. This floor seemed as safe as it could be, it was time to move on to the next floor. Before he had time to turn and head towards the stairs he was approached and asked if he could help them.”sure. What’s the problem, well besides the obvious.”gideon asked as he followed the man.
oud noises always ceased the proper functions of Felix's abilities. Even the archive of knowledge saved by their enhance memory felt over-stimulated by thunderous noises and shrill screams. Nearby the threshold of the small room, the TRS informant waited, praying their bodyguard would return hastily. Sightless and vulnerable were two words familiar to Felix, and they knew there would be problems should they be left alone through this hellish situation. While the blind individual refused to allow fear crack their countenance, they were terrified.
Everything was passing quickly, from the sounds of feet slamming on the tiled floor as people fleed, the screeches of an injured terror, shouts of hunters and cries of pain from the people fighting and fleeing. Breathing was quick, Felix attempting to sooth the rapid beating of their heart while awaiting Bruce's return. Certainly, their bodyguard did not perish out in the hellish landscape the TRS medical ward was turned into, right? A frown appeared on Felix's face as they waited, plenty aware of leaving the safety of the room would be a suicide mission considering they were entirely blind at that moment.
Little did they know, Bruce was searching for additional assistance to provide safe escort through the headquarters. The large man discovered a potential guide through the establishment. The battle-hardened bodyguard was unphased by the situation, making it obvious he was prepared for these types of circumstances. A shield to his charge, dutiful and capable in terms of protecting the individual he was expected to. The duty placed on his mighty shoulders was to protect Felix Mellobrook, therefore, he prepared to ask for assistance when needed.
"I need help leading my charge through here if you would follow me," Bruce requested calmly.
Promptly afterwards, he led the way, knowing his young charge was patiently waiting in the safety of the room. He turned, facing the direction his charge would be waiting. Meanwhile, Felix remained stationary, frightened, hands squeezing the cane's top as they nervously waited for Bruce's return. The dragon was hurrying, however, Bruce was never praised for his speed. Gradually, he weaved through the bodies of people fleeing from the area, eyes fixated on the room where Felix was left. Terrors were being fended off by hunters, however, Bruce remained alert as he ventured through the throng.
Once through the group of people, the bodyguard peeked through the threshold, softly reaching to touch Felix's arm. The blind individual jumped from the touch, quickly stiffening.
"It's okay," Bruce murmured to them. "I am sorry for the wait, I was looking for some extra help."
Upon listening to Bruce's voice, Felix sooth, posture softening as they pushed away from the wall and followed their bodyguard's guidance through the doorway. There was a pause as the blind informant stared where they believed their bodyguard was.
"Extra help?" They mumbled quietly.
As they spoke, Felix was pulled slightly closer by the soft grasp on their arm, being kept close to Bruce. The manner which the blind informant was kept close was protective, the light dragon assuring his charge would stay in arm's reach.
"Yes... you cannot guide me in this state," Bruce explained carefully.
Nearly, the blind informant mumbled a complaint, however, they shut their mouth and glanced away shamefully. While each turn was memorized, Felix would be unable to "see" incoming danger. Thus, silence reigned, the feeling of uselessness consuming Felix as they prepared to depart.
It seemed like maybe he could finally catch his breath as he slowed down. Someone had caught his attention asking for help. It wasn’t like he was doing anything else or had something planned out. The only thing on his mind was to help people escape. He had wished he had his phone on him. The one time he didn’t have it on him and something like this takes place. A simple message could be sent in hopes in finding out that she was safe. His thoughts were interrupted as he was approached. They appeared lost, but with all the chaos around them who wouldn’t be. They were straight to the point and within a few seconds gideon was following close behind
They reached their destination and gideon looked around. The man mentioned needed help leaving this place. Him and everyone else. Had someone been trapped? It was hard to believe this guy wouldn’t have the strength to push things away. Maybe they had to find this person they were looking out for? That wasn’t right either, considering the man knew where to go. It all became clear. He cleared his throat as if to announce that he was there. This was sure going to be interesting.
He figured now was as good a time as any to introduce himself.”i’m gideon by the way.”he understood the main objective. Get him out safely, but what were they going to next? The announcements had said to head to the gym. He figured he would follow their lead, though clearly he would be the one leading them out.”so, how are we going to do this?”he asked just wanting to make sure that he wasn’t going to be stepping on any toes.
seless, without sight, Felix felt absolutely useless. Successfully, the entire layout of the Terror Response Syndicate building was mapped within the gifted individual’s mind, yet, they lacked the essential tools. The thunderous alarms ruined the blind individual’s focus, meddling with their enhanced memory and method of sight. Everything Bruce believed was concluded as correct; without their electricity manipulation, there was no static to allow Felix to sense their way around. Softly, a hand wrapped around Felix's wrist firmly.
Fingers were calloused, tightly wrapping around their wrist. Years of engaging in fights created these calloused hands, Felix recognizing the sensation on their smooth, well-kept skin. As a bodyguard, Bruce was expected to fight anybody who opposed his charge, therefore, the man was prepared for battle. Infuriated with their uselessness, Felix silently stood by, preparing to be led down those corridors. Shouts were obvious, panic filling the corridor as hunters worked hard to defend the medical ward. With a hand around Felix's wrist, Bruce turned to face the long-haired man he enlisted for assistance.
"I'm new around here... I just need assistance getting Felix somewhere safe," he explained solemnly, gesturing to Felix."I can defend you if needed."
The situation was frightening, alas, nothing could eliminate the blind individual's desires for independence. The sounds of battle surfaced, becoming louder as terrors growled and hunters attempted to push them back. A gentle tug brought Felix closer to Bruce, the bodyguard witnessing the unfold of violence while Felix could only listen. People were fighting hard, defending what was considered precious or for their occupation. Meanwhile, Bruce's duties were to protect Felix and assure their safety; he was hired to accomplish these tasks.
Carefully, Bruce moved forward, tugging Felix's arm and gesturing for the long-haired stranger to follow. Movements through the headquarters would be forcefully slowed, the purple-haired individual's blindness making haste impossible. Breathing was quicker as Felix nervously followed, head pounding throughout the slight distancing between them and the chaos. Otherwise, the blind informant's expressions hardly displayed the fear lurking within their heart. Eventually, there was distance manifested between the group and the fight, the sounds of alarms being a blaring noise.
"Now... where must we go?" Bruce inquired. "Furthermore, I would appreciate if you provided a name."
Details could be provided later, their current circumstances requiring the basic information to proceed through headquarter and names always assisted with these matters. Protecting Felix was Bruce's goal, thus he planned on enlisting this TRS scout for assistance on that objective, alas, he hoped reliance would be limited. It was difficult to gauge how people would react in panicked situations.
gideon stood by waiting for further instructions. he took this time to see what was going on outside. right now all that could be heard were footsteps and screams. things were probably going to get worse before they got better. it was going to be a difficult task considering that there were people that couldn’t defend themselves. he would keep watch while they figured out the next step. he turned to face them when he was being addressed.”oh, yes that would make things difficult.”honestly he would even got turned around if he wasn’t too careful. or if you were looking for a specific place you couldn’t always trust the signs.
he knew that this wasn’t going to be easy. they were more than likely run into some obstacles. what if they ran into others that needed help? could he stop to help? he understood the main objective, but surely they would still be able to help others, right? he wasn’t sure if he was addressing him when he mentioned defending gideon.”i’ll do the same.”he simply added
gideon cleared his throat as he looked at them with a nod. perhaps they had not heard him. after all it was getting noisier by the minute. were the terror moving closer to them? not to mention the sirens were still going off, alerting everyone of the danger. he wiped his hand on ”oh, yes that would help. names gideon and you guys?”he debated a handshake would be right at this type of moment, but he stuck his hand out anyways.”nice to meet you despite the circumstances.”he said with a slight chuckle.
he ran his fingers through his hair after a while.”alright how do you want to do this?”a stealthy operation would be difficult with the three of them and considering. he wasn’t the type to disclose what abilities he had, but he figured this was a different situation and the more information they had about each other the better their chances would be of getting out unharmed.”so apart from the obvious i can also bring up shields and go invisible.”he wished he could of made it sound better than that, it wasn’t like he was trying to show off, he just wanted them to be aware of what he could do and how much help he could be. this whole situation was awkward and he wasn’t sure why.
n agreement was formed between both parties from what Felix deduced, Bruce successfully enlisting assistance to make up for the purple-haired individual's blindness. An inaudible sigh escaped Felix's lips as they pondered their uselessness in the current situation. Without eyesight, they were unable to assist the frightful situation, thus the blind man felt scared placing their life with the pair. They knew Bruce was plenty capable, however, the TRS agent could potentially be assistance or a hindrance to their escape.
The large bodyguard maintained a grip around Felix's wrist, firm and refusing to release the blind charge. It became obvious that Bruce viewed them as a vulnerable creature designed to be protected as opposed to an independent individual. While he was nothing compared to Felix's over-protective parents, they still despised the feeling of depending on others. Relying on other people only created more feelings of uselessness in the current situation. Moments after the agreement, Bruce tugged Felix along until they reached a slightly quieter hallway.
Moments ago names had been exchanged, however, the thunderous noises made it difficult for Bruce to hear the man's name, thus he inquired again. When the name was provided, the large man gave Gideon a nod of acknowledgement after hearing the name properly.
"My name is Bruce, this, he quickly gestured to Felix, "is my charge, Felix. I will be sticking by their side when possible... my species is not particularly quick, so I am hesitant to leave them alone. It is a pleasure to meet you as well."
Silently, Felix nodded when gestured to, their enhanced memory managing to gather the stranger's name through the blaring alarms. The stranger, named Gideon, displayed calmness despite the situation by requesting a plan from the bulky bodyguard on their plans. In accordance with the alarms, Felix could make an intelligent decision based on the commands being provided by the alarm. They commanded that anybody seeking refuge from the terror attack should be taken to the gymnasium for their protection.
"I would assume the gymnasium based on the alarms," Felix explained before Bruce could speak.
A nod of agreement was provided by Bruce for the long-haired scout who was assisting them. The gymnasium was the location they required, solely for Felix's safety which the bodyguard placed at high importance. He was hired to guard Felix Mellobrook, therefore, he was determined to accomplish his goal. Intently, Bruce listened as the man explained his ability, a flicker of confidence entering the man's eyes. He was certain they could potentially escape the danger with little incident given their assistance's abilities.
"I am a dragon, light to be specific if that gives you enough information. Are you familiar with the species?" Bruce inquired as he turned. "We should move while we speak. If the attack has only just begun, our best chance of moving is while these beasts are just entering."
After the words, Bruce stepped forward, tugging his blind charge along, which Felix followed. The blind informant spoke hardly a word and simply allowed the pair to discuss their abilities. While the blind individual planned on informing Gideon of their abilities, they decided to patiently wait. Unfortunately, the informant knew their abilities were not useful in these types of situation. Electricity manipulation could be useful, but Felix would be fortunate to shock a terror without hitting anybody on their side, thus it would only be useful on desperation.
what part of this whole thing was normal? he didn't have the time to be worrying about how he was phrasing things. the information was out in the open. the most important thing at the moment was getting them out. though it was decided that they should take their little chat on the road. the longer they stayed in the room the more probability that they would eventually be found. not that they were trying to hide indefinitely. they all knew it was just a temporary place to get things situated, well as much as they could. he followed their lead making sure that he wasn’t too far behind, but at the same time he had an eye on their back. with all the chaos ensuing it was more likely that they would be attacked from behind.
gideon nodded at the man introduced himself and the boy he was taking care of. after leaving the room they had managed to make it to a quieter hallway. had the terrors passed through her already? even if it was quite that didn’t mean that it was safe. though for now it would have to do. gideon looked around to get a sense of where they were currently. gideon nodded.”right, sorry i assumed you wanted to leave leave. not stick around here. which is fine, that makes it easier for me to come back and help where possible.”he explained.
abilities were exchanged seeing as it was better than surprising each other with what they were able to do. this way they could work together better and they already had enough surprises. gideon shook his head apologetically.”i’m a little rusty when it comes to dragons, but i'll figure it out.”he laughed softly trying to defuse the tension.”alright.”he said as he moved forward to look around the corner. the coast was clear for now, but in the distance screams could still be heard.
”so the safest bet would be taking the stairs. unless you want to take the elevator.”though if that was the case they would have to head back the way they had come.”we’re not too far from them. though there. we have to take two rights then a left.”he continued to explain. though that didn’t necessarily mean that anyone way was safer. for all they knew terrors were hiding in the stairwell.”though there is also the possibility that the stairs are a trap.”
errors lurked somewhere inside the TRS headquarters, thus Felix assumed danger was around every corner as they quietly followed behind Bruce, not that the informant was given an option. Firmly, the dragon's fingers were curled around their wrist, leading them down the corridors of the headquarters. Words were exchanged as the blind informant followed behind the large, protective dragon. Alarms were blaring around them, echoing through the hallways, a nasty headache entering Felix's head as they proceeded.
Pain pulsated through Felix's head, as though somebody had managed to hit them with a sledgehammer. Their enhanced memory made those thunderous alarms a dreaded sound. The aching proceeded as Felix slowly shuffled behind Bruce, blinks slowly despite their situation. Their horrible circumstance was difficult on the young individual, their mind consistently being harassed by the obnoxious sounds of seemingly endless alarms. Thoughts arrived, however, they were constantly interrupted by the ringing sirens which coincided by unseen, red lights.
The blind informant narrowly managed to detect the words spoken between Gideon and Bruce, the apology followed by an explanation heard. Briefly, Bruce glanced over his shoulder, checking on his charge before locking his gaze onto Gideon.
"My charge has valuable information for the TRS, therefore, they must be safeguarded and taken to a location where the TRS can locate them," Bruce responded with his explanation.
They continued down the hallways, Bruce leading, his eyes flitting around as they moved slowly. Despite the soft laugh, the light dragon giving a mere nod in response. The bodyguard was a serious man, somebody who refused to display happier or lighthearted emotions when faced with a crisis. In his mind, they needed to escape, thus any efforts should be focused on the main objective. As the pair strategized, Felix attempted to listen, the strategies being mentioned by Gideon perking their intrigue, yet, the deafening sounds proceeded to cause difficulties in their thought process.
"That would get us there quicker," Bruce mused as they walked.
Gradually, Felix arrived at a cognitive decision, the blind informant's posture straightening momentarily as they realized the stairs would be more beneficial.
"If we pick the stairs we can stay alert... going down an elevator could allow the Assembly to trap us," Felix spoke up.
Silently, Bruce nodded, the decision being made about where they would good. He proceeded to lead Felix through the hallways, concern hidden beneath his serious expression. Each step was frightful, the tightened grip around their wrist, Bruce's worries about his charge obvious to only Felix. Alas, the blind informant remaining silent to avoid breaking Bruce's fixation on escaping.
so far so good. despite all the noise, they were moving along a bit slow, but safely. he figured it had to be done. even with all the noise they still were able to hear him. gideon stopped at times, making sure that it was safe. right now their objective was to get felix to the safe zone. he was curious, but not enough so that he was going to ask. it wasn't any of his business."alright. sounds like a plan."gideon reiterated with a nod.
there was safety in numbers after all. they were going at a decent pace, the last thing they wanted to do was attract unwanted attention to themselves. gideon voiced a couple of ideas. they were reaching the end of the hallway and a fork in the road. even though he was leading them out, it was still up to them what direction they would take. it wasn't as if gideon wasn't going to help out. it was either the stairs or the elevator.
it seemed like the elevator was still in working condition and some of the survivors were being escorted out in that manner. gideon remained quiet, listening to what they had to add. he nodded at felix's words. either way everything could be a trap. they would have more room to plan an escape. in the elevator there really wouldn't be much of a safe escape. it seemed like it was already decided, which was fine with him."alright, stairs will be on the left."he motioned them to stop.
"i don't see anything, but let me go check the stairs."he told them as he looked around before rushing towards the door of the stairs. he opened the door and glanced inside. making sure that it was clear of danger he turned towards them and motioned them towards him. he remained at the door, holding it open.
angerous situations were never favourable circumstances for the individuals charged with protecting others. Therefore, based on assumption alone, Felix guessed Bruce was stressing over the current circumstances. Everything about the air was tense, concern suffocating the air as they moved, each step quiet and muffled by the overwhelming sounds of the alarms. People feared losing others, however, a bodyguard charged with protecting a vulnerable individual had pleny waited on his mighty shoulders. Should Felix perish on this day, he would be forced to return and inform his charge's parents of the unfortunate news.
Nonetheless, Felix proceeded to consider their bodyguard as over-protective and another of their parents' tools to display their uselessness in certain situations. Through their younger years, they managed to protect themself and maintain their occupation single-handedly. Unfortunately, the blind informant always failed to acknowledge their capabilities, a fierce requirement for independence lurking in their mind. Through the alarms, Bruce continued to lead Felix, refusing to allow the cane-wielding electricity manipulator to leave his side.
A plan was created, the purple-haired individual being expected to listen to the commands of those who possessed sight. Depending on others, it was ill-favourable at times... Each step held caution, Bruce informing them whenever something which could potentially trip Felix was an obstacle. When the choice was made to use the stairs, they followed Gideon down the hallways, everybody remaining alert as they continued through the treacherous hallways of the TRS headquarters. Terrors or Assembly members could be lurking anywhere, thus they needed to be careful.
They crossed through the threshold, heading into the stairwell to head to the main floor. Before they reached the stairs themselves, Bruce's grip became firm around Felix's arm.
"Hold on, Felix. I should carry you down, it would be safer and quicker," Bruce decided before glancing at Gideon. "Do you mind still leading point. You did mention you can make shields, so would you be fine to make them with little notice?"
A crack of annoyance touched the blind individual's usually expressionless face. Why did their bodyguard always insist they could accomplish nothing? Their independence was being stripped of them with each passing second! While the situation was a crisis, Felix found it extremely difficult to avoid being frustrated. Their enhanced memory allowed them to properly time the perfect intervals to lower their feet to effectively descend stairs without the need for assistance. Before a complaint could be voiced, Bruce scooped his charge up.
The large man was aware Felix would register a complaint, thus he refused to provide the opportunity. Everybody needed to efficiently navigate and escape the building, therefore, the blind individual's sense of independence would need to be thrown away for the time being. A soft squeak of surprise escaped Felix's lips as they were plucked from the ground and forced into the muscular arms of their bodyguard. An annoyed huff left their lips, but Bruce's plan silenced the fiercely independent individual.
Once Gideon was prepared to depart, Bruce would descend the stairs with Felix stationed in his arms.
gideon had gone on ahead to double check and make sure that the stairs were for now not a trap. the coast was clear, but for how long? it was best not to ponder that and the sooner they continued on their way the sooner they would make it to the safe zone. it wasn't too long after gideon had motioned to bruce that they had quickly made their way towards him.
maybe it was good luck, but this seemed to be going fairly smoothly. never the optimist he was waiting for the worst to happen. he knew that there was a possibility that the stairs wouldn't be safe, but he wasn't exactly sure what to expect, well besides terrors.
he closed the door behind them. though he had no intention of blocking it in case someone else had the same escape plan. he nodded at bruce's words."not a problem. i got you covered."he told him as he moved ahead and started down the stairs. so far so good, he didn't see or hear anything down below. he quickened his pace, but not enough that he was leaving bruce and felix behind."we got three flights before we are at the ground floor."he told them as he continued.
ettled in Bruce's arms, Felix found themself grumpy because of their present situation. The bodyguard's large, muscular body was pressed against the blind informant's small, slender one. The purple-haired individual refused to squirm despite their hatred of the situation. They wished for independence, yet, they found themself captured in the arms of a hulking, powerful dragon who would undoubtedly refuse to release them. As much as the blind individual despised the circumstances, they remained civilized in their actions.
There was a rhythmic sway as Bruce descended the steps, following the long-haired scout ahead of him. The blind individual easily noticed the lack of threats evident in the staircase from the lack of screams echoing through the stairwell itself or haste-ridden steps. Quietly, Felix leaned against Bruce's shoulder, taking the opportunity to accomplish a deep breath because of their harsh headache. It felt as though somebody smashed their head with a sledgehammer via enhanced strength and pure rage. The blind informant narrowly managed to hear Gideon's words as he mentioned the flights between them on the ground floor.
A soft sigh escaped Felix's lips as they adjusted in Bruce's grip, attempting to become a little comfier.
"Perhaps we should consider moving faster? If terrors are occupying the first floor... only the gods are aware of what is waiting on the ground level," Felix suggested in a monotone voice.
The informant's suggestion from concerns about potentially being ambushed or trapped inside the cramp space. Placing additional stress on the people who acted as protectors was something Felix wished to avoid. Noise could allow others to detect them, however, the longer the took, the more terrors could possibly flood into the lower levels of the TRS headquarters. Either way, the temperature was rising in the waters and slowness could potentially result in them all being burned and perishing to the boiling waters.
he smiled softly at felix's words. they were given the option to use the elevator, but this was not the moment to bring that up or start some stupid argument. it honestly didn't matter what route they would of taken. there were bound to be obstacles along the way. besides the thought of falling in an elevator several floors didn't sound very appealing. after all there were more important matters to attend to. yes, he himself could move a bit faster. after all he wasn't carrying someone, but he wasn't slowing himself down too much."if that were the case there are doors on each floor we could escape through if there were the case."
after all the stair well wasn't completely closed off."detours are always a possibility."gideon added before picking up his pace a little more. going down the stairs was always faster than going up."worst case scenario would could always jump out a window."he chuckled softly. probably not the best time to be cracking jokes, but hey it was bound to be said sooner or later.
he continued picking up his pace, even as to jumping several steps at a time. after all bruce was behind him and gideon was leading the way. they could only go as fast as the person in front of them.
