Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

There are so many flavors she could have chosen from. It's true, they were all just as delicious as one would have hoped for. But cookies and cream (and a little bit of strawberry) always beats it all. The creaminess of vanilla and chocolate biscuits mixed together makes up for a tasty treat, something that deserves to be places on more than just a cone. It wins her heart every time, and it is the sole reason why she has become a fan of ice cream in the first place.
[break][break]Tobi seems confused on what to pick, but it's understandable. There are so many flavors that one is not sure if their choice should be truly right or not. But he places an order, and finally the vendor works on making their treat. A few minutes of waiting and they receive their order, Kaylie's hidden excitement healed. She licks the melting fluid flowing through the cone, then smiles at Tobi. She doesn't even know what he's picked, but it's surely just as delicious.
[break][break]They pay the vendor and he says thank you, before Tobi asks what they should be getting next. "I'm... not entirely sure anymore." She looks around in anticipation, tongue making its way through the treat to lick some of it off. "I was really, really hoping for some takoyaki, but they don't seem--"
[break][break]But she finds it through the corner of her eye. A female vendor entertaining a group of people who wanted some of the octopus balls. She tugs on the male's sleeve and points to where it is. "There it is. Why haven't I seen it before...?!" She attempts to hide the excitement in her voice, but it still makes itself evident. "Come on, I want to taste some of that for quite a while now~!"
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]I feel much better now, actually!
he had eventually settled for his favorite. strawberry and after he had received it he offered some to kaylie."did you want some?"he didn't mind sharing, considering he hadn't been expecting such large scoops. he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to hold anything else. he really should of asked the vendor for a cup instead of a cone, but it was a little too late for that. how long had it been since he had ice cream and not just store bought ice cream, but ice cream from an actual vendor. he didn't know why, but he thought it always tasted better then the cartons you could get at the store.
despite her saying it was alright if they stopped there search for the elusive takoyaki it seemed that in the end it found them in a way. well had they not chased the ice cream vendor perhaps they wouldn't of made it this far down. he chuckled softly."see i told you."he tells her after she motions to him."clearly it was hiding."he said with a small laugh. he nods and starts heading towards the direction of the takoyaki stand.
Sharing is fun. That much is a belief most people had always believed in. However, Kaylie finds it to make no sense. Why does one need to give off a part of their share when another had already had theirs? It's a strange tradition, but Kaylie finds a bit of fondness put into it whenever other people do this. It's nice to receive a share from another, and it's only right for the receiver to share what had been given to them as well.
[break][break]At Tobi's question, Kaylie smiles and nods, before taking a small bite at the pink-colored ice cream. Strawberry is just as good. She licks her lips and raises her hand to allow Tobi a taste of hers. "Have some as well," She says, and even with the small blush creeping along her lips she does not avert her gaze and withdraw her hand. "It's only right since I took some from yours."
[break][break]They arrive at the takoyaki stand and she surveys the small counter, a bunch of balls already displayed in a glass case while some are still cooking. The smell of it is truly pleasant and endearing, it makes her hungry. "Hello! Two orders please." She raises two fingers as additional significance, and with a nod, the vendor takes out two of the cases. "I do wish they are still hot." Kaylie whispers to Tobi and giggles afterwards. She's always enjoyed hot food, but cold is always just as appreciable.
he wasn't sure why he had asked. this seemed so personal, yet he didn't mind sharing with her. he held the cone out towards her while she accepted his offer of his strawberry ice cream. she did the same offering him some of her own ice cream. he chuckles at her words."sure, but if you want more of mine just let me know."he told her with a blush of his own as he ate some of her ice cream."that's good too."he tells her once he got a taste.
"wait, im okay without. they're really not my favorite."he told her quickly after she had placed an order for them both. there was no sense in her wasting her money on something he really wasn't fond of. he ate more of his ice cream as he noticed it had started to melt."just be careful not to burn your mouth."he tells her with a smile. though if that were to happen she did have her ice cream and that would more than likely help a bit.
The strawberry ice cream was, indeed, just as tasty as her cookies and cream. There's the certain same sweetness to it, but more with the fruity punch than the softness of a biscuit. She smirks and nods at Tobi's offer; if he's really willing to share more of his ice cream, then so be it. "Alright then. I'll tell you if I want more." She giggles and playfully smacks him in the arm, the other hand tight around her own ice cream cone. "I kid, I kid. I already have mine here."
[break][break]Tobi states he doesn't really want some takoyaki balls, which almost makes her pout. Who wouldn't? It's of the most tastiest street foods ever to be made! But then again, she has no right to judge. People's tastes are their own, and Tobi has his own version of it, so does Kaylie. She shrugs instead and prepares to take out her money; it's only just as the two order have already been placed on the counter for her to grab.
[break][break]She finds herself winking at the young man, a grin on her face as one of the most stupid ideas ever thought of by man come to her mind. "I'll just have to devour them all by myself, then!" Kaylie would have to thank him later for the warning if she were ever to actually burn her tongue, then. Sliding the money through the counter and then waiting for change, she vigorously licks her melting ice cream before reaching out a hand for Tobi to take the icy treat. "Will you hold it for me for a sec, please?" Of course, it wouldn't be for a second, though. Takoyaki takes time to digest.
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]No, Kaylie, please don't make him your servant boy ;o;
he chuckles at her response."that's if there's any left. strawberry is my favorite."though it had seemed she was only teasing. he smiled either way. he really didn't mind sharing. he continued eating his ice cream as they waited for her takoyaki. he figured it was best to eat it up quick, so one it didn't melt and drip all over and two so that he could actually have a free hand. luckily he had managed to to set his fries on a small table that held different condiments.
"just don't eat them too fast."he chuckled after he warned her. if she didn't burn herself, the last thing she needed was to give her self a stomachache from eating too fast. he finished off the rest of his fries. she didn't have to ask him twice. with his free hand he accepted her ice cream cone."sure. no problem."
She understands why Tobi feels that way. People have their own favorites, and it's quite difficult to share something you really like if you are truly invested in it. Kaylie could feel the same way with her ice cream, but then again, she could not eat it all. "Alright." Was her simple response. Tobi had his favorites, Kaylie respects that. It won't be easy to give up on.
[break][break]She recieves her takoyaki and she hands her the cookies and cream ice treat, just like her request of him earlier. She hears his warning and chuckles, one of the octopus balls already pierced by a toothpick and being hoisted up by her fingers. Red sauce covers both three balls of takoyaki. "Oh, don't worry about me. The sauce would make it less hotter." She bites on the takoyaki ball and licks her lips, that had been coated by sauce only seconds ago. "Mmm... delicious."
[break][break]Kaylie's attention is then turned back to Tobi, and her eyebrows furrow. "Umm... was it really alright for me to give you the ice cream? It might melt on your hand..." She stares at him almost apologetically, stopping herself from eating takoyaki for a while.
he chuckled softly as he watched her received what she had been craving the entire time. he was glad that they were able to find this food stand for her. despite her saying that she would of been okay had they not been a takoyaki stand in sight. tobias managed to eat all of his fries while they were waiting.
that was just one less things he had to carry. with that out of the way he had no problem holding on to her ice cream. she had been fairly quick to ask him to hold the melting treat, though now she seemed to be having second thoughts. he laughed at her worry."it's quite alright, if it does then i'll let you know or i can eat some to avoid it from melting too much. enjoy your takoyaki, really it's not trouble at all."
he wasn't sure why he continued to talk."unless you want me to hold your takoyaki? i mean at least that won't melt."he chuckled."maybe we should find a place to sit? or did you want to get something else?"
Telling her it was alright wasn't really helping matters here. Kaylie does not want her company to end up with melting ice cream dripping down the cone and reaching his hands. It's sticky and it's annoying, and Kaylie does not want Tobi to experience that. Melting ice cream is definitely not fun; it would be unlikable for both parties, with Tobi having melted ice cream on his hands and Kaylie having to eat it while melted. It's certainly irritating to just think of.
[break][break]Tobi's ideas do make her smile. At least now they have a solid idea of how to control it. "That's good thinking! I'm almost about done with this first takoyaki case anyway, so it should be over and done with." She states, a second takoyaki ball already in her mouth. "Hey, how about this: I'll get busy finishing my takoyaki while you can have a few munches with my ice cream. Or we can share the takoyaki, if you like."
[break][break]He suggests that they find a place to sit; Kaylie could not help but agree. "Sure thing. My legs are getting tired and I know yours are, as well." She finds a few benches through the corner of her eye and points at them with her toothpick. "How about there? We should get the first spot before others even think about taking it." She tugs on his shirt softly and looks at him with anticipation. "Shall we go, then?"
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]That feeling when you already have a post but then connection ruins it ;o; but at least this one's better tho
tobi simply smiled, he honestly had no problem. he had a free hand and it wasn't like she had been making him carry her things the entire time. though he figured there wouldn't be any further discussion on the matter. instead he suggested they find a place to sit."no worries."he told her as they started their search for a place to sit."i'd rather eat your ice cream if im being honest."he told her with a grin.
of course he wouldn't eat all of it. after all he was almost done with his. a couple more bite and he would be finished with his frozen treat."we have been running around searching for food for quite a while."he told her. she then pointed out a spot for them to sit."that's perfect. yes, let go."he said with a nod. luckily no one else grabbed the seats. he sat down making sure he left enough room for kaylie."there now you don't have to rush."he told her with a smile.
tag: @kaylie || notes: i've had that happen too many times!
She is glad Tobi agrees to her ideas, though he has preferences of his own. Well, he did say takoyaki was not one of his favorites, and she considers this choice to heart. Kaylie nods in approval and dumps the last takoyaki ball into her mouth. "Then that's settled!" She gives him a grin, the brightest grin she could muster. "But then again, I'm done with my first takoyaki, so... I'm gonna have to retrieve my ice cream, thank you." She tells him with a cheeky smile.
[break][break]He suggests they sit down and she points out to two benches for them to rest on. Her childish manners seems to have taken Tobi away, at least in her perception of the course of events; she chuckles nervously and scratches her cheek, looking away, a faint hint of red making its way through her cheeks. "Oh, sorry, I just--" She stops herself and exhales. "I just want to get a chance to actually sit with you--" But, realizing what she had just said, she stopped and looked at him, eyes wide in shock. She cupped her mouth and shook her head frantically, but no words come out of her mouth.
[break][break]Instead of apologizing to what had transpired, she runs to the bench with the same bashful look on her face. "U-Umm..." Stuttering, but still no words. She sits with a soft thud and crosses her arms, looking away from the young man. "S-Sorry about a while earlier." She mumbles, the takoyaki beside her and the ice cream on her right hand almost neglected of a mouth to feed.
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]Aaaaa I'm so sorry for the late reply!
he chuckled softly as he hands her back her ice cream cone."see i didn't eat it all."he says returning the smile and they continue on their way.
this was their second time seeing each other and despite not knowing each other too well. tobias had really taken a liking to her. he wasn't sure why he felt so comfortable around her. perhaps it was her personality. she was nice and very funny. he smiles at her a bit confused by her words."i don't mind wandering around with you, but yes let's sit."he smiled once more.
clearly her words had gone over his head. he had just figured she was tired of walking. they reach the empty bench and he stretches his legs out in front of him. it's quiet for a few seconds and he finishes up the last of his ice cream."why are you apologizing?"he asked her curiously."i don't mind sitting next to you."he smiled at her.
She looks at her ice cream and raises an eyebrow at the young man, finding his statement to be true. "Yes, I can see that, thank you." She chuckles with him, taking the ice cream from him and eventually biting on it to reduce the mass of what she should be eating.
[break][break]He agrees once more to Kaylie, and after her sudden outburst of uncontrollable words, she seats herself on the bench first, before seeing Tobi walk up to her and sit just beside her. Then it was quiet. Kaylie liked that, yes, but... with Tobi, quiet was a different sensation. With Tobi, quiet was something else. With Tobi, it was unacceptable.
[break][break]Then he asks why she is apologizing and she feels her cheeks burn red. "U-Uh... Umm... no reason, really." She looks away, unable to meet his eyes. "I just... thought what I had said would make you feel uncomfortable." She perks her head up and finally allows herself to stare at him. "But then again... I did want to sit with you."
[break][break]And something more.
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]Yessss!!! Aaaaa I could feel the confessions XD
was he missing something she had said? it was obvious he hadn't read too much into her words. he wasn't sure why she was acting all nervous around him now? was she acting nervous? or maybe it was just his imagination? whatever the case he just wanted to make sure she felt comfortable. he really was enjoying spending time with her.
he questions her apology and she looks away. maybe it would be best if he didn't push the subject."oh, not at all."he quickly said to reassure her."you don't make me uncomfortable at all."no sooner had he said those word his face was starting to get warm. it seemed like that was a natural reaction with her.
now it was his turn to look away."i-i really enjoy spending time with you. whether it reading or kicking your butt at video games."he said with a laugh."clearly that was a one time thing. i probably won't win again."he continued to ramble. what else could he say to make her understand? though all words seem to be failing him after his last comment.
He contradicts her earlier statements, saying she isn't making him uncomfortable at all; the white-haired girl's cheeks grow red in embarrassment. Kaylie never knew she could be assuming like that, when clearly a person doesn't even think her to be bad company. She is at least glad he had taken the time to reassure her he was fine while in her company. If not she would have been more than cursing herself for what had transpired.
[break][break]She notices Tobi look away and she tilts her head and is about to ask why, but stops herself when he starts to speak. The joys of accompaniment whether in the library or in the arcade... even adding that him winning would most likely not happen again. Kaylie could not help but smile. The red in her face is still there but she dares not to hide it anymore. Words are not spoken immediately as she is processing the words that had come out of his mouth. It's nice to discover that someone actually feels the same for her.
[break][break]Kaylie closes her eyes and sighs to herself, hands slowly curling into fists as she tries to resist the urge to just hold his hand. "I... I feel the same way. All of it, actually." She perks her head up and stares at the night sky, now littered with fireworks bursting from everywhere. "Ever since I met you at the library, and ever since I've managed to talk to you, it felt like seeing the light of life for the first time. I've never viewed life as a happy one since I was a child." She turns to him and the smile is still there. "Meeting you... at least managed to brighten up my days."
[break][break]Her hand near Tobi spreads fingers and she allows herself to touch the wood of the bench. "I've never met a boy like you before, Tobi. And that's why I'm grateful to have met you."
