Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Meagre in height at 5’6” with a thin, slender build, few people believe Carac to be a powerful explanation. Physically, they would be correct with Carac’s limited muscle and light-weight body type. While he struggles in physically uprooting another individual, Carac makes up for it with speed and flexibility. The young man can move like water, his lightweight carrying him better than a larger man. With his slimmer build, he can manage to slither into cramped spaces without any hesitation. This being said, Carac carries some muscle in the form of lean muscles, but nonetheless, his capabilities are limited. Covering his skin is a fair complexion leaning more towards the side of the paler. Hidden in his fair skin are a variety of minor scars from questionable situations with his occupation. From his back, he can manifest a pair of white wings, large and capable of picking him up. They are soft should somebody gently touch them.
Soft in facial structure, few admire Carac for a masculine quality. His cheeks gently roll, neither overtly high nor low bearing. This warrants his cheeks plumpness that keeps his cheeks full and not too skinny. His chin possesses a soft curve. From his head falls chin-length hair, straight in its style. They are blond in colour, enjoyed for their softness. Frequently, during work hours Carac will tie his hair back in a ponytail to avoid his long bangs getting into his eyes. Hidden behind the blond curtain are a pair of beautiful emerald green eyes. They are attention-catching, a majority of people’s eyes catching their glory.
Clothing depends entirely on if Carac is working or not. Work hours consist of Carac wearing thick, covering clothing. This consists of long-sleeved shirts, a high-setting scarf, a cloak with a hood and finally a pair of goggles that obscure his eyes. He in addition wears gloves, pants and combat boots. Outside of work, Carac frequently wears casual clothes to avoid being detected when in public. Regularly, it is plain coloured shirts and simple jeans and sweats.
Light Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to move and create light to forge as a weapon, create shields or flash bright lights to blind others. Forming light together to create weapons is something quick to accomplish. He can manifest a quick knife of light to lash out. Alas, Carac is known more so for manifesting large needles of light to act as bullets that he aims and shoots at his enemies. Similarly, he can make shields from light, allowing him to protect himself. Usually, these are relatively small for his own protection, however, he does tend to make larger shields to protect those he cares about. Extensive use of the ability will bring exhaustion to the young man. Additionally, it takes more energy to create light than manipulating it from existing sources.
Electricity Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to create or move electricity, allowing the user to make bolts of lightning or shock others. Both used as an attack and taser, Carac has prepared his electricity for the worse. He frequently uses them as electric bolts to shock others or destroy areas to make crossing harder. However, manifesting a taser-like shock is the most common use to avoid killing others. This regularly can send people into pain and onto the ground writhing if they are weak to those feelings. On a weaker note, lightning rods can detract his long-ranged attacks and instead take them. Despite his mastery, moments of extreme emotion cause static to come around him. This ultimately makes him lose energy and those who touch him receive a mild electric shock.
Healing -- Advanced The ability to restore biological tissues, allowing the user to cure sickness and/or mend wounds. Being among the only abilities Carac can use to give back and assist himself, he learned to be proficient in his healing abilities. He is capable of healing severe wounds over time, however, due to his lack of mastery, it does take him more time to heal these wounds. He can quickly heal moderate injuries and minor injuries are the easiest to heal. Due to his lack of mastery, he is unable to heal sickness in others. Healing himself is a possibility, but if the injuries are too severe and weakening, he can struggle and only mend a limited amount of the wounds. If exhausted, he is completely unable to heal himself or others. Similarly, he requires physical contact with the other person to heal them.
Blessings -- Beginner The ability to bestow a blessing on others, giving them minor effects to assist another person. Despite his wishes to help his fellow thieves, Carac has avoided learning blessings. Knowing the confirmed species of the other thieves was difficult, thus he avoids it. Furthermore, with his lover being of similar species, Carac gained additional reasons to avoid the ability. Using it would result in Carac becoming extremely tired.
Wards -- Beginner The ability to create wards to keep certain species out or cause other effects inside an area. For similar reasons as blessings, wards have become a redundant use. His partner in life is a demon species, therefore, he avoids the use of his wards. Using the ability would cause exhaustion for Carac.
Wing Manifestation -- Mastered The ability to manifest wings, these wings spawning from the back and being capable of flight or used as a shield. These wings are used for flight primary, being Carac’s main form of escape. In approximately 15 seconds, Carac’s wings can stretch out from his back. These wings are large and quick forming, being capable of appearing with a simple thought. In circumstances of extreme exhaustion, Carac’s wings cannot manifest or may disappear because of his sleepiness. If injured, Carac’s wings will also disappear because of the injuries and cannot be manifested until the time of their healing passes.
Holy Water Creation -- Intermediate The ability to create water in a small vessel. Never used to the full intention, Carac learned the ability to create small, emergency holy water bombs. Should a hell species be chasing him down, he would use the holy water bomb to burn them off. Though, this has kept his proficiency minimal at best. He can make tiny pouches of holy water that he regularly throws at others as a defence. Nonetheless, he cannot make many of these pouches before growing sleepy, thus he does not use them too often.

backstory
What was having a family?
Memories served naught of people before the revolving door of criminal faces entering and leaving Carac’s life at a constant. His parents were unremembered, blurred faces in his mind that inevitably abandoned him without reason. People with cloaked faces cared for the child, thieves that would become the people he would contribute to his survival. Those who accomplished what they required with the overarching goal of survival through the days. The homeless souls who had nothing, but the clicking clock of death ticking over their heads. They provided the scraps of food and shared their lessons with him. In the fear of his abandonment and lonesomeness, Carac was expected to learn the methods to survive his circumstance. At a young age, Carac was learned to grow up hastily and become an adult in a child’s body. Faced with the harsh reality of his uncertain situation and misfortunes of life, the determined child only had one thing remaining to survive.
In his youth, Carac began pickpocketing to avoid the haunting shadow of death lurking over his shoulders. He stole from food stalls and survived off the pitying of others. Water? The child learned how to make it healthy, how to boil the water. A few times he received the nasty burn of recklessness, but he learned. The child required the learning experience for his survival and there were limited options. The circumstance he was forced into meant being a child was impossible. Without an adult to assist him with the art of survival, Carac’s childhood was nonexistent and those child traits an unknown factor. He never knew how to act similar to a child, how to play and how to enjoy oneself. Everything was about survival and nothing else, it was everything in his life... There was no break, no ease, no moment to relax and take a deep breath. In addition to his thieving needs, the child had to learn to ward away threats of exposure, discover shelter, survive the horrible people and struggle through the basics of life.
The moment Carac entered his teenage years, everything he knew was struggling, thieving and survival. Nobody taught him the proper and prim methods of survival, the type revolving around innocent as opposed to anything else. Genuine work and honest earnings were beyond his comprehension since everything the young man knew was the consistent struggle of a criminal life while avoiding the cuffs of law enforcement. He hurried through the streets, used his wings consistently, made flashbangs of his light manipulation and sneaked through the outskirts of his home. The streets he knew through the years were the only home Carac ever possessed. There was never a roof, four walls, just street sides and abandoned buildings. Even as he accumulated the wealth to move and gain stability, Carac refused to reach for it. There were places he could go, locations where he could escape, however, all he knew was the colours of crime. A young man without guidance unable to comprehend the notion of becoming an honest man. Alas, he exuded the wishes bestowed on him, occasionally helping those around him in honour of those who assisted him before.
The passing of time’s sand only brought about a stubbornness in changing. As a young adult, he was heavily involved in the realm of crime. He was known in the criminal underworld as a thief for hire by the time he entered his early twenties. A man only known for thieving, he became a quick hired tool for a majority of people. From those who craved the wealth or items of another or to return things once lost. In short, he listened and obeyed the whims of a mission while holding a sense of caution. He was a soldier of thievery, an individual who marched on without hesitation and accomplished anything for the sake of money. His occupation, amoral and his values lacking any sense of moral memories. He accomplished it all through the years without hesitation, without a second thought. Rather, he marched forward into life, prepared to handle whatever was served to him. He analyzed his circumstance, believing there was nothing to alter his circumstance... and through the centuries, he only dove further into the realm of crime... until he met him.
Closer to the present years, Carac discovered methods to hide away and use his earnings to afford a small home, a base. Thus, everything became easier with the passing years of his life, though, never he thought his mind could process things beyond survival. On a passing mission he saw him, struggling against a group focused on the deadlier routes of crime. Nonetheless, there was something about him that made Carac pity the man at the time... thus he rushed forward and did something. He dragged the poor sap away, his hand locked on his arm after a burst of light to take him far, far away. Once in a safer location, it began almost naturally with Carac being followed by the demon he rescued, they stuck together and it was pleasant. The man became a constant face of comfort for Carac and somebody he could speak to in those lonelier moments... he became the closest thing to family Carac ever had. Thus, the man became attached to him over time.
Through the years, Carac protected Cobus whenever possible and worked towards keeping him out of the criminal business. He began freelancing, his requests for thieving becoming lower in order to remain undercover; he wished to remain by Cobus. Over time, he began feeling the stir of affection inside his chest, warming his heart which resulted in the pair eventually dating. The comfort discovered between them made it a natural choice. With it all, Carac softened to Cobus and finally felt safe enough to no longer be in persistent survival mode... to be free for the first time.
- He is a thief for hire, but he is more or less known for acting similar to a Robin Hood type individual. - Carac finds easement in origami. Normally, he uses it to calm down. - He keeps a regular day job to keep suspicions about his night job low. - In most circumstances, Cobus is among the only people who get a glimpse of Carac’s softer side. - Due to how much he adores the man, Carac always worries about dragging Cobus down or having him get hurt as a result of his occupation. - Oftentimes, Carac does work as a freelancer during the daylight since his hours can be adjusted and it is an easy job for him.
