Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
It was like the tables had turned, everything about this situation seemed flipped. The woman before him had done something almost nobody else ever had, and the uncharted territory was causing some confusion. Yet beneath the feelings more clearly displayed, there were also tones of gratefulness. He had frozen up under the assault, brought back to harsher times. If she hadn’t been there, things could have gotten worse. The fact that it hadn’t escalated, was something like a miracle. [break][break]
Her nervousness seems to shift somewhat, seeming less jumpy at his own responses. She speaks and yet, his tenseness is not quite gone. She seemed like a good person, if he were to judge by her response. Not everyone was so willing to defend others, something he also harbored within his own instincts. It wasn’t always easy, to do the right thing. ”I hadn’t been expecting it. If you weren’t there...I don’t know what would have happened.”His voice is lower, almost pensive. [break][break]
Her voice though, it was something that kept and drew his attention. It was pleasing to him, though he can’t quite point out what made it that way. She brushes away the topic of soulmates, though it is still something he didn’t quite understand. He has heard it mentioned in many different conversations, but never really looked into it or had it explained. It was something about other people, or something like that. He gazed at her a little more intently for a moment, but decides not to further ask about the word. He was not unused to coming under harm for a number of reasons, though he chooses not to say as much. ”I’m sure it happens to more than just me...”He pauses, having long since grown used to the violent ways of others. ”My arm...?”Slowly, he extends his arm towards her. [break][break]
It would be fairly easy to notice, that he was not something living. He is something that had been constructed by the whims and desires of others, and as such was not truly like a majority of the people walking about. His limb was trembling somewhat, the flashbacks and natural reactions to it having not yet fully ceased. ”Would you like to check?” There was a slight apprehension in those words, but if it would assure her that he would be okay...it would be worth a momentary discomfort.
To say that his first experience here was a trial, well that was certainly the truth. Life had never been particularly easy for the golem - though it still came as something of a surprise. Least of all, had he expected to become a victim of a crime. His travel had been peaceful enough that it startled more than it actually hurt, though it sparked the memories of a war torn nation. He drew himself away after the strike naturally, a very reactive full-body recoil. Scenes played in his mind of becoming damaged, and subsequently being left to die. He sucked in a hissing intake of breath, tensing naturally.
Naturally he started to go into overdrive, his danger senses flaring acutely with the flashback. Remembering how he had reached out to help from his creators, only to be cast aside like yesterday’s discarded table scraps. The voices who had once praised his existence, now dripping with scorn. A broken machine left to rust, a failed project that wasn’t infallible. There was no use for a broken weapon, so he was cast away appropriately.
Wasn’t this the way a world like this worked? If something held no use to you any longer or was broken, you threw it away without a second thought. Before Khonsu could make a move of his own more than the recoil, however, they were proven not to be alone. His attentions trained on the confrontation, seeing her shoving his assailant against the wall, whilst the flashbacks still flickered in the back of his thoughts. She had a weapon, though he hesitates in acting between the hold the memories have, and the fact he isn’t the one being threatened. Exhaling loudly, Khonsu focuses again on regulating his breathing. Vaguely her words play over his thoughts, like ripples over a pond. It reaches towards the flashbacks, as if trying to twist him out of their grasps. Slowly but surely, it began to make those memories dim.
The echoing thud of footsteps pulled his gaze, just in time to catch his assailant fleeing. Regulating his breathing cycles again, he still retained a stiff tension. A certain anticipation humming under his skin, an agitation simmering within his feelings. For all intents and purposes, it seems she had protected him. Why would she do that for a stranger? Or did she simply not like the assailant? He found that he was curious, even as there remained a steady feeling of suspicion. She turns her head then, and their eyes meet. His breath hushes for a second, the world tilting slightly. He relaxes slightly, as much as he can force at the moment. No matter the reason, she had done something to protect him.
She speaks yo him for the first time, and he can’t help but focus on her voice. ”You .. would help a stranger?” She mentioned soulmates .... was this the truth of the matter..? He has heard of this word before, but doesn’t know the true meaning of it. ”Soulmates...” He pauses for a moment, the word ill-fitting on his tongue. ”I am alright, you needn’t worry.” Soulmates ... it felt foreign. He doesn’t quite understand it, sending a slight agitation through him. It prevented him from truly responding as he normally would, with a returned nice to meet you. The hesitation is written all over his face, as is hints of irritability and confusion.
The kingdom was standing strong, even in this trying time. He was doing his hardest to keep the dangers and darkness at bay by joining raids and skirmishes from time to time, though as of late he had been assigned to prioritizing protection over the princess. He believes that he was chosen specifically for this purpose due to the fact they had already interacted several times, and he had always been calmer in her presence. He doesn’t know why, but he feels soothed whenever he’s around her.
While he was dedicated to his task of protecting the kingdom, and feared not the danger or savageries of war, he found that he wasn’t displeased by a changed assignment. There was much less danger or conflict here at the center, but more time spent with her - well, it was enough to almost make him feel spoiled. Her presence affects him instantly, the moment he sees her beautiful face he dips his head into a bow, offering his hand for her to take. He was supposed to escort her to wherever she was going today, and he didn’t mind in the slightest.
”I’ve been told that I was to stay at your side from now on..” His voice is measured, careful. There were still others around, though there’s a fondness lingering in his eyes that doesn’t match the professionalism of his words. After he was sure the attention on them had ceased at least for a moment, a smile curled more genuinely over his face. In a lower, warmer voice he added, ”It’s good to see you again.” Adelina was precious to him, despite her status as far beyond his station. It might not ever be feasible to hold her hand just because he wanted to, it wouldn’t be safe to ever tell her how he feels - but he can dream.
If she took his hand, his hold would be gentle, as if holding something delicate and cherished. He would help her down that final step so she wouldn’t trip up or have to struggle, and though he wouldn’t want to let go after, he would allow his hand to slowly drop back to his side. He didn’t want them to notice the way she lit up his day more than the sun and moon combined, or the way her eyes glittered like stars in a dark and fathomless sky. ”Where are we off to today?” If only .... if only it was somewhere like a field full of dandelions, where he could make wishes. Or a grassy hillside where the rest of the world didn’t exist.
Khonsu is shorter than the average, but a decent amount heavier because of all the components he is built out of. He has a graceful way of moving, and a really pale complexion. He has almost shoulder length blonde hair, naturally accented in black, with a silky quality to it. His eyes are blue, though there are rumors that they have changed to different colors before.
NEGATIVE - proud - touchy - can be aggressive if triggered - directionless - struggles with self identity
abilities
Literal Trigger Fingers: Mastered. Khonsu was crafted from several weapons with an intricate wiring system that acts as his nerves to tell them when to become active or not. Technically he has bullet-shooting capabilities at each finger-tip, however these are not active unless he should activate them. When not in use they are covered by synthetic flesh and capped off to function like proper fingers. These electrical nerves and triggers have a fail-safe that automatically disable them should something malfunction, or be damaged. There are no misfirings or friendly fire accidents here.
Enhanced Durability: Advanced. Built to withstand wear and tear, Khonsu can take many hits before he becomes too damaged. He was made for the rigors of war, after all.
Hackable: Khonsu is surprisingly able to be hacked and remotely controlled to an extent, though you would have to be in pretty close range, and you would have to have a constant input of commands. This would cause his body to act against his will, and he would thusly be aware of everything happening around him.
backstory
Khonsu was built by a country bathed in the sun's light, those that craved warmth and enlightenment, but were caught in a constant cat's cradle of war and strife. In order to continue their praise of the sun in the sky, they began to construct something that could fight in order to protect them. So the construction of their guardian began, weaving together different weapons and fine electrical systems in order to make him the greatest warrior of their time. When he awoke for the first time, Khonsu had no memories, though his very first memory was of looking up at the blanket of stars in the sky and the kindness of the people behind his creation.
Some considered the time of his awakening an omen, as terrible and bitter war began to take a toll on the residents of the small country. Just as he was created for Khonsu fought for them, a bitter and tense few years before he became too damaged to defend them any longer without care or repairs. Instead of taking care of their injured guardian, they turn away and cast him out, their once praising voices now one of disdain. Their creation had failed them.
Khonsu still did not stray far, his feelings pulled thin as he watched over the country the best he could. The country had begun to fight itself along with the invaders, and there wasn't a single thing he could do to stop it. They had cast him away like a useless broken doll, and none of them would ever listen to the words of a failed machine.
