Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
[attr="class","awayfrom"] If it hadn’t been obvious before, certainly such a thing would be easy to see now. Severus had the ability to shake or secure Thalassa himself, the way the slightest thing from Severus could spark changes in his own world. Thalassa truly could not hold anything back any longer, leading to showing his feelings and thoughts all in a flood. To be vulnerable like he was ... to allow himself to freely speak his sentiments. There was no doubt within the nephilim that this was where he belonged, who he wanted to be with for as long as he would live. Almost akin to someone who had been left cold and in the dark for so long, Severus was the warm sun to put an end to his aimless wandering. In the hold of his most trusted person, Thalassa relaxed completely. This was home ..... where he wanted to remain for as ling as he possibly could. ”I know you won’t. You’re the only who hasn’t. You can count on me too...”
The whole world would be damned before the nephilim would let this be ruined, never again would he allow things to be tarnished. Severus speaks again and Thalassa can sense the confidence in them. Severus meant everything he was saying, and that wasn’t something to take lightly or for granted. ”Mhm...” His belief hasn’t faltered, even with the shock of the events that took place. It’s just a minor setback, but he has the strength to continue on. He’s not alone anymore, and would no longer have to face his problems with only himself to rely on. He has somewhere to belong ... someone he belongs to. The nephilim just barely doesn’t nuzzle his face into Severus’s touch, something almost automatic in the state he was in now.
His blue eyes flicker away at the words spoken next, almost guiltily. He knew the statement was likely true, though it doesn’t stop the feelings from being what they were. They had been such a prominent part in making him who he was, that the harsh judgement had crushed part of his emotional constitution. Thalassa has always been the one to do what he could for those he loved, though sometimes the choices that lead to him making were questionable at best. ”Yeah...I’m just happy I have you.” The words are tired, ready to just let that event fade as much as it could.
Though, the turn of conversation proves to be more upbeat. An amused tone, a banter of words. It was what the nephilim needed, something distracting from the other things tugging at his mind. He needed to be more than just fine, and in time he would be. Just like all other things, it would take time. ”Yeah...” It likely wasn’t wrong, though he never could have taken him with. Thalassa relaxes further in Severus’s hold, breathing out a slow sigh. Surreal .... the sensation is mutual. ”I always will....” If anything ever happened, Thalassa would search the ends of the earth to be at Severus’s side again.
The words cause a slight shift in his mental state, blue eyes for a moment seeming a bit brighter. ”You know ... there wasn’t a moment I didn’t regret it. Now that I’m here, where I should have been so long ago...” The nephilim pauses for a moment, almost as if thinking what to say through, though it was more or less just revealing more of himself. ”I’m never leaving again. This is where I belong.” Heaven and Hell and everything between be damned. There was nothing he’s rather have and nowhere else he’d rather be.
[attr="class","awayfrom"] Usually, he wasn’t as possessive, as pragmatic as this. Yet lately the feeling had been consuming him, the intent desire to be as close to Severus as he could possibly manage. It quivered beneath his skin when the person he loved was absent, ramping up the restless energy and thoughts circling all around each other. Having Severus in his arms now was easing it and intensifying it all at once, like static playing through his veins. It may have chased away his restlessness, but it sure as hell intensified the crave to keep him for as long as he drew breath.
Further coaxing the hidden hunger was when he was touched, acceptance something that only served to make that which the nephilim hid under the surface. It was showing through quite easily compared to how to nephilim usually contained himself, controlled and poised and something tame. The kiss he had cornered his love with was just something that was inevitable, but it was still just the beginning. Thalassa’s attention was merely made for the sole object of affection, the only one he had ever loved. A low hum thrummed in his throat, Severus’s touch pushing his happiness levels further into an exponential increase. The smile Thalassa gives Severus is genuine, with the other near he’s never been more in a state of bliss. ”When don’t I miss you?” It’s the truth, an easy confession to make. ”Then you won’t mind if I monopolize more of your time?”
The usual gentle sincerity was still present in the nephilim’s voice, though there are undertones of something more raw. ”Someone giving you trouble? Either way, I can help take your mind off of it.” Hoarding every last bit of Severus’s attention, it was something he wanted anyways. If there was anything that mattered the most, it was always that above all Severus should be happy. ”You have a point...” Reluctantly does Thalassa relinquish his hold and step back and away into the place that they shared.
Glancing back at Severus once as he moved naturally to somewhere more comfortable, a wagging tail marked the approach of Bruno. The canine greeted Severus as always, a single fond woof escaping his large jaws. ”You hungry or do you just want to relax?” No matter which it was, Thalassa more than had it covered. His desire to hold the person who was the center of his world was burningly strong, and it would undoubtedly happen if there was no need for food.
[attr="class","awayfrom"] The emotions flowing through Thalassa are alive and crackling with a will all their own, like a bolt of electricity traveling through his bloodstream. He felt like every nerve ending was sparking in response to the onslaught of memory and emotion, taking no prisoners as it gnawed at him from the inside out. Losing what he had made for himself here with Severus, it is absolutely something he couldn’t handle. All he could do was just barely hold himself by a thread, wanting nothing more than to cling for all he was worth. He was trying his hardest to keep some semblance of strength to his figure, but knew he wasn’t fooling Severus anyways. Thalassa knew that his current state was being picked up on acutely, and his feelings rest between relieved and guilty.
Letting out a soft breath through almost clenched teeth as Severus spoke, Thalassa believes in Severus more than he’s even believed in himself. ”Please...” Thalassa had to put everything he had into this, into believing it to be true. The last thing he wanted was for Alcina to drive a force between then again, or worse, find a way to destroy them. If Alcina had his number though, then the schemer likely wouldn’t stop trying to get at him. A softer but still wavering smile spread over the nephilim’s face at what Severus said, and he decided to let his own feelings be known. ”I believe in you.”
The admission was one of the highest trust Thalassa could give, hanging the entirety of his self on the small statement. It was something Thalassa rarely said - perhaps the amount of times he had ever spoken it being able to be counted on the fingers of a single hand. At least two of those times had been spoken to Severus before, if not all of them. Severus had always been special, though he hadn’t shown it before .... all that happened between them. Thalassa focused on Severus again, trying to drive away the ghost of regret trying to drag claws into his mind again. If he started down that train of thought, it would be a herculean effort to pull himself back out of it. ”I don’t want to be away from you again...”
He didn’t understand the decision of his parents either, though he was in no real place to negotiate with them. He knew when to take a hint, and ontop of that he wasn’t sure where they had gone. ”I think they were disappointed.” Even if that’s an obvious answer, he still doesn’t really understand it. It stung, almost as if he had been thrown aside like a defective doll. Thalassa melted into Severus’s hug then, allowing his senses to focus only on Severus at this point.
Even though it hurt, Severus’s words comforted him. It was true no matter what lens he looked at it from, as long as he had Severus he would always survive in the end. Resting easily against Severus as the other’s hold tightened, Thalassa was letting the thoughts drift out of reach. ”Yes...even if you have an interesting choice of child. Though, looks like he’s inherited your loyalty.” He pauses for a moment, before breaking the silence again. ”Thank you...” What he has here, it’s the best thing he could imagine. Who he had here, was the best person he could have asked for. It wasn’t easy going, but he had never imagined it would be. He’s making it work though, they both were.
If he knew where they were, was he also close by? Severus’s touch calmed his nerves somewhat, but a shiver still crawled up his spine. It took all he could to not turn and cling to Severus, but for now he stayed his place despite the difficulty. After all he had tried to do to become a ghost, had it failed? His hand trembles underneath Severus’s as he speaks, and he swallows back his reservations. Thalassa nods slowly in response, usually well-kept hair falling back into his face.
If he found out exactly where they lived .... Thalassa could barely restrain the automatic wince. ”I... I said I would tell you everything, so..” He didn’t mean for his voice to waver, for himself to crumple under the realization. Something in him just barely survived the onslaught, all the things that had happened. He should have expected the way Severus reacted, but some part of him hadn’t. Lifting his face he tightens his jaw before responding, hating that he even has to say the name. ”Alcina. He’s the reason I ... left.”
Alcina is the person who had destroyed his life, pulled the strings behind all of it. If Alcina had found him again, then he would do whatever he could to stay away. Thalassa felt burned just by receiving any contact from the green-haired schemer, because for however little it had been he had let himself forget. ”I’ll be okay as long as you will be...” His hand curled somewhat, tensing as Severus shifted. ”It’s more complicated than that. I’m ... scared. What if he hurts you this time...? What more does he want to take from me...”
Thalassa’s voice trailed off then, not wanting to lose the only important person he had left. Severus was the most important person in his life, and there was no way he was losing that again. He should have never left him in the first place, and even being allowed back into his life was more than he could have wished for. More than he deserved, but more than he had hoped for. ”I...have I told you ... my family disowned me...? For saving them...?”
Restraining the urge to full force pout, Thalassa pretended that he wasn’t in the slightest bit jealous. It was easier to continue the motions of going through the day - familiar actions would often lead to acting on familiarity and instinct - he’s gone through this routine more times than he could count. Breaking from the routine while he was feeling like this wouldn’t necessarily be a good thing - for now letting himself slip into the fog of tireless loop was enough of a distraction to keep him from doing anything drastic or - letting more of his true feelings show.
As intended, the monotony works for quite some time, but only for so long before it wasn’t working anymore. Reaching a hand down to pet the rough fur of Bruno, Thalassa looked down at the large canine and sighed. The dog’s ears swiveled and he looked up at the nephilim, his head perched on his paws. Bruno seemed tired from being brought around places today, but that means he was not going to get into any trouble either. Thalassa ruffles the dog’s fur fondly, before getting to his feet again.
The dog’s eyes followed him as he paced slightly before there was telltale signs that someone was coming home. Thalassa had felt a shiver in his skin signaling anticipation, and this time he wasn’t going to bite it back. There was really only one person it could be - and Thalassa had already been anticipating his return home enough. Lately he’s felt a boiling point to his blood that hadn’t quite been there before, and he’s had quite the issue in maintaining the stoic face that he tended to field towards all situations outside home.
Thalassa was already waiting when the door opened. Reaching forward as soon as his eyes caught Sev’s figure, Thalassa pulled him close. The nephilim had missed him quite a lot, and now he wanted him close. ”I missed you...” Thalassa’s voice was lower than usual as he holds onto Severus, his usual control slipping just a little bit. Accidentally cutting him off before he could finish saying what he had been starting to say - ”Hey.” Leaning his face closer, Thalassa indulges himself in a kiss. When it comes to Severus, well. Lately Thalassa hasn’t been able to get enough. He always found himself wanting more.
It was something that he had tried to keep tamped down and tamed within himself, knowing that he was being unnecessarily jealous and selfish. It’s been getting harder and harder to conceal lately, and the nephilim has been slipping up more and more. It shows through the cracks in his composure and his feelings twist at the mere thought his hidden nature could drive Severus away. If it did .... he doesn’t want to think about it.
Fully coherent thoughts struggled to surface in the black abyssal void that were his thoughts. A ceaseless ink black river that drowned anything beneath it’s current, never to surface again once it had been swallowed. Static silence was a loud roar in his ears that blotted out everything outside of his own thoughts, or at least, it seemed that way for awhile. A shockwave jolted him free of the vast nothing - leaving him gasping for air as the shadowed depths released him. Releasing a shaky but violent exhale, Thalassa stirred. He was starting to break free of it.
”Aah...” Thalassa raises his head, his skin cool from where he had been faceplanted on the table. When ... had that happened? ”Welcome home...” His voice is more subdued than usual, more distracted and lower in tone. Glancing over at the macarons to make sure they hadn’t been something he had just imagined up, he relaxed a little before he remembered who had tried to contact him. ”I ..... yeah. I think I do.”
How would he even begin to explain what was going on? Well, he had intended to bring it up eventually anyways ... so .... wasn’t now as good a time as any? Swallowing hard, his eyes remain stubbornly fixed on the table where his face had been resting just seconds prior. ”I have ... something to tell you.” Thalassa pauses then, his posture ever so slightly curling into itself as if he were trying to hide. But from what? From someone he couldn’t even ascertain was really there?
He didn’t know how his number had been found but, if he had that then .. there was a chance his location was also know. The utter dread he can feel freezing through his insides like ice at the mere thought, well, it’s not... it leaves him regretting. ”I think ... I think he found us...” Thalassa’s words are untempered, unfocused, vague. Not like himself at all. It’s all he can do not to be drawn back away into the shadows and ghosts of his mind, but he’s resisting. His head turns towards the counter, gaze falling back on the now black screen of his phone.
