Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

The tall armored figured murmured something about not being far from home, but Keltie was still entranced by how huge his armor looked. Who on earth could possibly be in there? It was.... i-it was amazingly weird! Yes, amazing and weird, for she'd never seen anyone like this walking out in public nor would she have thought she would. As he bent one knee to look at her face, he reached out a hand and Keltie's large eyes befell the gesture. He introduced himself as Itsumo Yukan... a photographer and hero. "... Woah, you really do look like a super hero!" Keltie babbled out in amazement and reached out to grasp his hand, "Oh I'm Keltie by the way! It's nice to meet you, Mr. Yukan!" Her hand looked so small compared to his as she grasped it, giving it a small shake, "Are you really a hero?"
"Ohhh, I see!" Keltie responded with interest, a slight unintentional perky tone rising within her voice as Levy explained that she was more or less a newer addition to the TRS, "Congratulations on being accepted in! That's awesome!" The idea of joining the TRS was never something that was even an option to her or her brother growing up. Everything was laid out for them... her brother was to be clan heir, and she herself was to be a shrine maiden. Thus, when Levy asked her about work, her face somewhat dropped before catching herself and nervously giggling to cover up her moment of melancholy. "N-no, no, you're totally fine!" The girl reassured, and looked up towards the sunlight shining through the trees, "I actually don't have a job right now. My brother and I came here a couple days ago, and before that, I just sort of tended to my family's shrines." Her fingers wove through the soft grass beneath her palms. "I wouldn't mind exploring other things-- like... I don't know what! But there's gotta be more out there," She added in a care-free mannerism. [break][break] Tag: @levy
A pale yellow butterfly caught Keltie's gaze as she took in the bright green grass before her. The butterfly fluttered its wings until resting upon a dandelion nearby, wings slowly lifting to and fro where it calmly perched itself. It was honestly a beautiful day outside and Keltie was glad that she was able to enjoy it, especially now with the company of a new and friendly face. Considering she'd just moved to Lorsette, she was doing pretty good for herself when it came to meeting new people! "How long have you been a Scout for?" Keltie proceeded to ask, enjoying the company and chit-chat. She knew rather little about the TRS and its ranks, but she knew it was honorable nonetheless to work for them.
In the midst of the sidewalk Keltie was jogging upon, a red tall suit of armor stepped out, being practically impossible to miss. The sudden figure startled her and she came to an abrupt stop, her sneakers squeaking along the pavement underneath her. Wh-what the heck was that?! She'd never seen anything like it before and her eyes grew huge as she lifted her head, scaling all the way up to where the armor's head was. "W-woah..." She peeped to herself before the red armored individual spoke up. She was still in a moment of amazement and astonishment by the individual but she soon snapped out of it, shaking her head at herself. "This--! This is the Business District, I believe!" She informed and smiled, concealing her inner utmost confusion to the slender but rather large individual blocking her way, "I mean, I just moved here though so I could be wrong! But, I'm pretty sure.... its the business district..." She rose a finger towards her mouth in thought, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure..."
The invitation was one that brought a big smile to Keltie's face as he regained her normal posture. "Really? You sure?" She asked and knew that she should probably head home soon... but the guest house wasn't all that far from here when taking flight time into consideration. And, chances were, her brother was probably still asleep. "Well okay! I'd be delighted!" She cheeped in a cheerful tone, and gladly sat down across from Levy. "It's the least I could do for my charm-finding savior, y'know?" She giggled playfully, bringing her knees up to her chest and smiling brightly at the blonde, "I don't want to keep a TRS soldier for long though...! Are you on duty?"
Levy sat up from where she'd been sitting on the grass, though she soon was once more down against the soft bedding of park-side grass.... it actually looked really comfortable. Keltie herself had laid in the meadows of her home village many of times before, soaking in the sunshine and watching the clouds as they passed by. She wasn't one to be inside all the time and enjoyed peeking out into the great outdoors, even if it were simple strolls or site-seeing. It's what partially motivated her to go for morning runs, that and also exploring her new city.[break][break] "I see. Are they the best?" Levy asked before clarifying, "I mean brothers." Keltie was quite close to her brother, given that they were twins and exactly the same age. He got long much better with their parents than she did and knew how to play their games almost too well for her liking, but she still loved him and was greatly bonded to him. The good certainly out-weighed the bad for her.[break][break]
"Yep! We're twins, actually, so I guess you could say we're really close," Keltie answered with a grin, and decided to secure the charm safely inside her exercise sweatshirt pocket. Luckily, the pockets had zips on them, thus she was able to zip-it up and ensure that the charm didn't fall out. "Thanks again for your help. I'm truly indebted to you!" She said, playfully giving an over-dramatized bow with a slight giggle to show she was kidding-- with the bow, not her words.
Laying down along the earth and trees, Levy answered "You're welcome," and gazed at the charm at the center of Keltie's palm. "So pretty." "Thank you~!" Keltie chimed happily, her cheeks lightly blushing from how happy she was. Thank gosh she had help finding it! For all she knew, she could have been out here in the park for another hour or two looking around everywhere had she not been accompanied by a Wylderkin like this nice young girl. [break][break]
Not only would it have broke her heart to have lost it, but to have seen the expression on her brother's face for doing so... and for having sneaked out on her own in the morning without him, too... it would have spelled out a completely awkward and saddening disaster. Yes, a disaster! It was a one of a kind special gift... b-but, there was no more need to worry! Everything was solved now.[break][break]
"Where'd you get it, if you don't mind me asking?" Levy proceeded to ask where she laid on the soft green grass. Keltie inspected the loop of her charm, seeing that it had a small crack... which must have been how it fell off to begin with. She would need to repair it somehow or tell her brother, so that he could help her fix it. "It's a present from my brother. He gave it to me before we left our home village," She explained and smiled once more, drawing her attention away from the charm that she gripped in her hand and looking down at Levy, "We just came here a couple days ago. It's such a nice city!" [break][break] Tag: @levy
The Wylderkin assured Keltie that they'd find it, and the girl anxiously nodded. She hoped so...! She was going to be devastated if the charm was long-gone. For all she knew, a bird may have truly gotten hold of it or someone else may have found it... m-maybe it would be too hidden in the dirt, or got kicked into a hole. All the possibilities unnerved her and Keltie tried not to get ahead of herself. She had help from none other than an actual TRS member, which meant her possibilities of finding it were strengthened. [break][break]
"I'm Levy by the way, what is your name?" [break][break]
When the blonde introduced herself as Levy, she paused by a few of the trees. "I'm Keltie," The girl introduced in response, trying to smile but being too fretful to successfully portray one upon her face. It was nice to have a name to the other girl's face. Glancing around the ground, Keltie cupped her hands close up against her collar bone, seeking around the base of the nearest tree. [break][break]
When Levy spoke up again, Keltie's eyes grew large with hopefulness and she quickly joined by her side. She eagerly glanced around the ground before seeing a shimmer near a patch of dandelions. "Yes! Yes, that's it!" She excitedly proclaimed and rushed over towards it, bending down and taking it within her grasp. Turning to face Levy, all fretfulness had vanished from her face and she looked quite over-joyed. "Thank you so, so much Levy! I was so worried I'd lost it forever," Opening her palm, she showed Levy the Koi fish charm that twinkled from the sunlight so that the Wylderkin could see the lost prized object she'd help her retrieve. [break][break] Tag: @levy
"I see." The Wylderkin answered and sniffed the air, and Keltie's large light brown eyes watched her as she begun to head off in another direction... as though she'd urgently found a possible pathway where the charm may have accidentally fallen off from its chain. "W-wait!" Keltie called out, throwing herself onto her feet and jogging after the Wylderkin. Was it possible that she was able to smell where she'd been? [break][break]
Admittedly, she didn't know that much about Earth species's but she knew enough to recognize the blonde for who and what she was. A nesting of trees lied up ahead where the TRS member was going... and as though a light bulb lit above her head, Keltie's expression shown with a dawning realization. "Oh! That's right, I took a short-cut through those trees! Oh my gosh, what if a bird picked it up and used it for their nest or something?" She babbled out loud, tilting her head in fretful thought. [break][break] Tag: @levy
Rummaging through the grass was feeling more and more hopeless... and unfortunately, she still had quite a means of hunting throughout the lawn area before being able to check off her list that the charm was absolutely not there. She couldn't believe herself! How could she lose something so valuable when on a morning rung? Ugh, she was utterly a huge goober![break][break]
Another distraught noise left her before a sudden "Hello?" sounded behind her. "Eep!" Keltie squeaked out, startled and surprised as she jumped in place and brought her hands up towards her upper chest. She had been so involved with her charm hunt to where she hadn't heard the footsteps of another... nor did she realize someone was watching her. She turned her head before half-way turning her body around to face the direction a Wylderkin stood, wearing a TRS uniform.[break][break]
"Can I help you?"
"O-oh, um--!" Keltie was visibly in a moment of surprise from being met with sudden attention from another. Was she really acting that distraught? Oh gosh, how embarrassing! "Well, t-to be honest... yeah!" She decided, nodding with a sulking gaze, "I'm looking for a Koi Charm my brother got me. I think I lost it somewhere in this park while I was running this morning. Have you seen it?" [break][break] Tag: @levy
Keltie's day had been going well up until she discovered an utmost tragedy... the charm her brother gave her, the very first charm she ever received for her new charm bracelet, had broken off from the chain sometime during her early morning walk. The girl didn't realize it until she was half-way home and had spent the past half hour circling around the spots she could think of having last visited, Dragon wings keeping her swiftly afloat in the sky from corner to corner.[break][break]
Upon reaching Crow Feather Park, Keltie landed nearby the fountain carefully onto her feet and her wings folded behind her. "Ohhh, no, where could it be!" She murmured fretfully to herself as her wings engulfed in a bright light before vanishing from her frame. The young Dragon checked around the fountain's seating and even peeked into the water to see if the sparkling figurine of a koi fish caught her eye among numerous tossed pennies. No luck was found, however.[break][break]
"I can't believe it, I'm such a dork!" She babbled to herself in distraught and went jogging along the pathway, where bright green grass and a play-yard were nearby. She checked the benches, kept her eyes out along the cobblestone path, and soon jogged into the grass where she remembered having sitting down before and enjoying the fresh air. [break][break]
The grass swayed by her sneakered ankles as she looked around, patting the ground and trying to brush the grass aside to see if she could find where her beloved charm had gone missing. It wasn't something she could replace and held special meaning to her... to have lost it forever would be heartbreaking. [break][break] Tag: @levy
Stepping outside from the guest house she and her brother rented together, Keltie let out a big stretch of her arms as the morning sunlight basked against her. The bright morning sun felt like a warm kiss from the heavens against her skin... soothing, and delightful. "Ahhh, good morning new home~" She chimed in a cheerful tone, having decided to temporarily convince herself that this was indeed her new home and not a temporary getaway from her home village. [break][break]
Her brother laid inside his room, having slept in longer than usual after they'd only just arrived a couple days ago in Lorsette. Without the strict ruling of their parents, the both of them were able to have more freedom to do as they pleased for once in their life... and for her brother, that currently meant sleeping as long as he desired to. Keltie on the other hand was an early morning bird who couldn't fathom sleeping in. She, also, wanted to take advantage of having some time totally to herself while her brother was distracted in dream-land under his covers.[break][break]
Thus, ready to go and enjoy a morning run all by herself, Keltie's pony tail bounced behind her as she hip-hopped down the porch steps. Her white sneakers squeaked beneath her as she journeyed down and onto the pavement. With one hand grasping the porch railing behind her, she used one hand to lift up her ankle and fish out a pebble that had managed to sneak itself into her right shoe. Once she got it and tossed it off towards nowhere in particular, the young dragon smiled brightly to herself and begun strolling onward. [break][break]
The guest house wasn't far from the downtown area of Lorsette, having been chosen for its convenient location by the landlord and her parents. It was but only a few minutes before she reached the business district, and had begun jogging along the nearly vacant sidewalk, ponytail swinging rambunctiously behind her as a wide-awake and perky expression adorned her face. A few shops were already open by the looks of it and admittedly, Keltie had an idea in mind for grabbing something yummy from one of the eateries... but first, exercising was essential and her main prerogative!
Keltie is a petite girl, standing at only 5"1 with a very slender frame to match. Her bone structure is small and her overall stature is very dainty, making her seem quite harmless in nature. She has a doll-like face with oval, large light brown eyes and a heart-shaped mouth. Long black eyelashes lace her eyes and her nose is very small with a thin slope in its arch. Her maple brown hair is naturally a cross between wavy and straight, giving it a sleek and slightly bendy texture. She, however, usually flat irons it or tosses it into braids or a tight bun atop her head. Keltie enjoys applying light makeup such as lip gloss, blush, and mascara. Whenever she applies mascara this makes her eyelashes pop out even more against her fair complexion, further enhancing her eyes and "dolly"look. Rarely, if ever, will she apply more than that and the girl has a rather natural look to her.
As a dresser, she wears simple and comfortable clothing, not being one to show off her body of which case is already pretty modest in female qualities. She likes jean jackets, sweaters, jeans, and shorts the most though occasionally she will wear knee-length flowing skirts. Her favorite accessory happens to be a charm bracelet around her left wrist that she hopes to fill with charms symbolizing the memories she makes in Lorsette.
As far as her species goes, Keltie is not easy to distinguish in broad daylight. She doesn't often summon her features but, whenever she does, her draconic form is of a glistening ivory. Two swirled horns sit atop her head and curl backwards in a half-loop, with a wide tail and strong white scaled wings that extend wide and much larger than her actual height. As a full Dragon, Keltie is still on the small side however and her wings and large claws serve as her primary means of survival and strength. She is effeminate in appearance with scales dappling her frame and a long whiskered snout.

abilities
Dragon Shapeshifting -- Advanced.
Keltie is a slow transformer, having never actually transformed into her fullest form before. Thus, her body has yet to experience it's draconic full potential. She can, however, summon her wings without much struggle and can also summon her claws, tail, and horns. The order in which these are summoned isn't always within her control and can differentiate depending on how much stamina and focus she has, albeit her horns and wings usually come first.
Light Manipulation -- Intermediate.
During the daylight hours and whenever the sun is out, Keltie has stronger light manipulation techniques. She is able to manifest translucent pure wisps of white aura and use them for various means. Whether if it be for playing around or assisting her with something more so important, Keltie can rely decently on summoning light. She can create orbs and flame-like wisps with ease. Usually at night, her wisps are much more faded and less potent.
Enhanced Strength -- Intermediate.
Most effective when some of her Dragonic form is visible, she is able to enhance her strength and give her claws more potential to cause effect damage. She naturally has a surprisingly strong grip in her hands and if not careful, can accidentally break things, of which case is also more likely whenever some of her Dragon form is shape-shifted into visibility.
Pain Suppression -- Advanced.
Keltie is pretty hardy and can handle many hits, bumps, and bruises. She can use her abilities to make her all the more so resistant to injuries and lessen the sensitivity of her nerves. This is a trait she was taught from a very early age and is one she has used often due to her adventurous spirit, getting her into some explorative dilemmas.
Natural Abilities: Keltie is able to use her tongue to taste magic and can sense toxins, whether if it be from plant material or something lingering in the air. She is also naturally more durable against attacks and injuries, making her quite resilient.
backstory
In the heat of summer, Keltie and her twin brother were born in a small village nestled within the mountain range of a faraway obscure continent. The village was that of primarily Dragonic clans, believed to have once been a sanctuary grounds for Heaven species on Earth but the only remaining species that stayed in the village during modern times were the Dragons that built it. Much due to their heritage, Keltie and her brother were born as Dragons to two Dragon parents whom desired to raise them traditionally within the safe enclosure of their small world.
Keltie was born of Light whereas her brother of Darkness, making them the perfect balance and much like yin and yang. Their parents were proud of this occurrence and had high hopes of Keltie's brother one day becoming head of their clan. Their father had striven time and time again to take the position but had always lost against his brothers, riddling him bitter. Such bitterness took over his life and the man picked up alcoholism to compensate for his shortcomings. That, and vicariously living through his son whom he placed high hopes on.
With a stoic and alcoholic father and an overtly-strict mother, Keltie bonded little with them and instead grew the strongest attachment to her brother and kinder older women within their village. Much to their parents' dismay, the girl didn't follow along in their strict teachings quite as well as her brother and instead often had her head up in the clouds.
She dreamed of fairy tales, imaginary places, and eventually of the world that dwelt beyond their small home as she grew into her pre-teen years. While she was dutiful and tended to the family's shrine just as all girls in their clan were supposed to, Keltie entertained a greater horizon that upset her parents greatly. She was to stay within the village, become a shrine maiden upon her eighteenth birthday, and support her brother's advancement in their familial traditions.
Such a future as being only a shrine maiden, bound to the tyrant ways of her family for her whole existence, lowered Keltie's spirits greatly. Even if it were her destiny to serve them, she longed to at least experience something greater before then... and her brother, secretly, desired the same. It was never his dream to become head of their clan nor did he enjoy his father's goals for him as much as he pretended. However, seeing the treatment Keltie received for her own fantasies and being often punished for them, he allowed himself to dwell within the tight space he was cornered into.
For many of Keltie's childhood and adolescent years, she was stuck in the same routine of clan responsibilities that overcame much of her life, being groomed into the ideal Draconic lady by her mother, and sitting on the sidelines of her brother's proclaimed successes in life while expected to sit back like a docile young woman. It was upon her nearing eighteenth birthday when fear settled in for what her life would remain as being.... and finally, Keltie snapped and told her brother that she intended on running away. As opposed to supporting his sister's decision, he told their parents whom resulted in locking Keltie within her bedroom with a strong charm placed on all the windows and doors to keep her from leaving and punish her for something childless and reckless.
For days the girl was trapped in her room, unable to break herself free. It was only after many conversations with their parents that her brother was able to save Keltie from her upcoming "coming of age" ceremony into shrine priestess-hood. It was agreed upon for her to leave the village and experience life beyond their home, only with the protection of her brother, and only if they were both to return when summoned to. This was meant to merely satisfy her wondering mind and, hopefully, show her how much safer and more reasonable it was to return to family responsibilities.
The decision was shared among the rest of their small Draconic familial clan and the location of which the two teens were to be sent to was decidedly none other than Lorsette. Keltie's heart weighed with anger from the dictation made, once more, by her clan as opposed to having her own free will to decide but reluctantly accepted what would be her only means of escape... even if only temporarily. That thought, too, burdened her but the girl was nonetheless met with excitement of seeing a whole new world than that of which she was raised in.
Currently, both she and her brother are renting a guest house with arrangements having been made between the landlord and their parents, whom hope that Keltie's brother will be able to talk some sense into her while appeasing what they hope to be a short-lived dream.
