Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Endless anxieties resulted in Zeke's heart pounding hard against his sternum in fabricated thunderous thumps. Each beat filled his ears as blood pumped through his veins, thoughts jumbling as a result. Intimate feelings were difficult to admit to the person they were attended for, especially when the individual has been a major crush for decades. The heart-pounding circumstances resulted in the former general missing the quiet steps of his mother's approach. Unfortunately, the already soft-footed woman could have easily accomplished the action.
[break][break]
Quietly, Fiona listened, curious and evidently interested in snooping on her son. Admittedly, developments in her son's PTSD kept her slightly paranoid, the guardian frequently worrying about the child she raised. She kept her distance, merely listening and observing the spectacle unfolding before her eyes. Concerns flooded through Zeke when Kier suddenly retreated, venturing deeper into the washroom. A broad frown breached the dragon's face, a long sigh escaping through his lips as sorrow struck nerves inside him.
[break][break]
Those actually subtly hinted that mutual emotions were nonexistent between them, however, the dragon still desired to inform the kitsune of his feelings. Even if happily ever after never existed, Zeke believed Kiernan held the right to know his feelings. Decades of intimate longing could not be thrown away without an attempt to make the individual one loved privy to their admiration, those would never be wasted words. Slowly, the former general reached, grabbing the sink handle and ceasing the flow of water for near-silence; his heart still sounded like a jackhammer in his ears.
[break][break]
Breathe, in and out, calm yourself, prepare yourself for the day. Those words echoed through Zeke's mind as he regulated his breathing, gradually motivating confidence and courage. Years of longing to state those precious words and the opportunity finally arrived, although, more forcefully than he cared for.
[break][break]
"Um... Kier... I... I..." The lovestruck man paused, allowing a deep inhale to enter his lungs once again. "Since we were little... I liked you a lot, and when I came back... those feelings did as well... I care about you, Kier... You mean a lot to me, but... you deserve to know that..." There was a pause as he steeled himself for those final three words. "I love you. You are a wonderful person and I'm grateful for everything you do for me... When I needed someone, you came to help me... I appreciate everything you do for me... and... you deserve to know that I will always love you... If you no longer want to talk with me... I understand... but that is how I feel. I just wanted to know how much I care..."
[break][break]
A figurative weight lifted from Zeke's shoulders after stating those words, however, he prepared himself to handle the consequences of confessing his feelings for Kiernan. Pessimistically, the dragon believed the outcome could only be negative considering his crush was hiding in the shower and retreated after their long, passionate kissing exchange. Behind him, Fiona displayed no signs of astonishment, her suspicions proving correct. Despite the correctness in her assumptions, she maintained silence, allowing the boys to interact and praying for a positive outcome.
[break][break]
Slowly, Zeke inched forward, reaching to carefully push aside the curtain to view the magnificent, long-haired man he adored. These few moments could become their final minutes together if reciprocation of love was not accomplished. A sorrowful glaze dulled the dragon's brown eyes as he awkwardly avoided eye contact in preparation for rejection. Everything that transpired previously established the belief Kiernan's possible love was extinguished during their abrupt kissing session. Perfection, Zeke would use the word to describe his long-term crush.
[break][break]
Throughout their years together as friends, Kiernan manifested broad smiles and obnoxiously loud laughs. Pleasant days spent together, enjoying one another's company were fantastic. Unfortunately, Zeke believed those days filled with splendour would disappear forever because of his romantic feelings towards the incredible kitsune. Intimate feelings complicated friendships, it was a mere fact. They would drift apart, and Zeke would be left to wallow in endless sorrows and the darkness which haunted him daily.
[break][break]
Imagining life without Kiernan was impossible, uncertainties about his future already darkening Zeke's fragile mind. What would he do without him? Suffer? Feeling eternal loneliness? Would he recover and eventually discover stability? It was a notion gods would fail to predict.
Plush lips pressed against his own, a sensation of warmth radiating throughout the entirety of his body and the gleeful skipping of his heart were welcomed experiences for Zeke. These kisses from his ravishing, extraordinary man ignited a spark across his lips, the special tingle of excitement tracing them. Everything about their spontaneous make-out session was perfect in the dragon's mind. The long-awaited romantic interaction finally being captured in his grasp after years of fearing rejection or losing Kiernan.
[break][break]
Redness encompassed his face, accompanied by intense heat from the blood pooling into his cheeks. Seconds transformed into minutes, however, nothing felt long enough after denying himself his deepest desires for decades. When he kissed back, they plunged into another world of open affection, unexpected and hardly resisted despite the possibility of children with wandering eyes chancing a peek. The former general was completely enthralled by the notion of a relationship with Kiernan; it was something he always wished for.
[break][break]
Closeness was gained on when the kitsune kissed him deeper, the blush increasing from the sudden action, however, Zeke failed to resist. Those urges to kiss Kiernan were surfacing, determined to make themselves present. Heart rate increased, temperature rising from the pooling blood. Cheeks were conquered by the reddening forces, the bridge of his nose falling promptly afterwards and shortly the remainder of his face. Courage and confidence were provided fuel as Zeke remained still while kissing Kiernan, allowing his long-term crush to venture closer.
[break][break]
Pulling away was thrown off the table, thoughts fixating on this magnificent moment where everything the dragon wanted was provided to him. Complete privacy would only be provided should they hide inside the bedroom or restroom, however, those thoughts were pushed aside as repressed urges and released dopamine took their place on stage. Rational thought left him, forgotten because of how intensely the dragon desired the opportunity to kiss the man he loved intimately. Slowly, their lips were pulled apart, the signs of a thorough fluster evident on Zeke's face.
[break][break]
Lovingly, he stared into those enchanting, silver eyes, lips gradually twitching into a smile as he readied himself to confess those emotions he held dearly to his heart. Preparations to speak were accomplished, mouth set to state those words, only to notice Kiernan pulling away further. Instantly, the smile broke when his crush stated he would be right back. They drifted apart slowly, the dark-haired kitsune releasing his hand and fleeing into the washroom. Positive sensations faded, depression filling in its absence as the dragon's heart ached.
[break][break]
A single question rang in his mind, did he do something wrong? Was the romantic moment inadequate or downright deplorable? Abysmal to degrees where Kiernan felt required to run opposed to informing him of those mistakes? Perhaps feelings were being spared since their kissing exchange dumped those undying emotions of love and affection. Breathe in, sigh sorrowfully, a common pattern when disappointed. Briefly, Zeke glanced at his prosthetic arm, the hand which firmly held Kiernan's mere seconds prior, already mourning the sensation of hand holding.
[break][break]
Negative emotions proceeded to enter Zeke's mind the longer he waited for Kiernan's return. Unbearable thoughts of their friendship potentially being over because of a single action filtered through the former general's mind. He pleaded mentally to any god who would listen that Kiernan would not leave him. Each step towards recovery and happiness was imparted because of his crush's benevolence and support, furthermore, changes became a nightmarish creation for the suffering man. Trauma made these abrupt altercations difficult to handle, thus losing a pillar of support suggested being launched deep into the darkness.
[break][break]
Minutes passed, emptiness entering Zeke's recently filled stomach as endless dread perturbed the dragon. Worry manifested about Kiernan and his extensive washroom break. Another sigh flowed through the general's lips as he locked eyes with the floor. Gradually, the man began moving towards the restroom door, fear pumping through his veins. The rejection was inevitable at this point, but this moment would be the only opportunity to confess his feelings to Kiernan. If they drifted apart, it would be a consequence he would be forced to handle, alas, disconnecting felt unavoidable.
[break][break]
Confidence was required to approach the bathroom door, fears of the upcoming words manifested plenty of upset emotions. Softly, Zeke sighed, ears listening to the sounds of running water. Silently, he listened to the running water, seconds passing until it became obvious the abrupt evacuation from the situation was not a mere potty break. A frown hung on Zeke's lips, sadness brimming in his brown eyes as he realized the gravity of their actions. Shakily, the former general lifted a hand, fingers curling into a fist as he rapped on the door.
[break][break]
One... two... three...
[break][break]
Breathes were taken deeply, entering his lungs before being slowly exhaled. Just breathe... it settles anxious emotions... take a moment to breathe.
[break][break]
Fingers curled around the cold door as he shouted, "I'm coming in..."
[break][break]
Gradually, the door was opened, Zeke becoming thankful when the other side of the threshold revealed a decent Kiernan. The frown increased as the dragon awkwardly glanced away from his crush, unable to meet his eyes. Shame consumed him, the former general certain he did something wrong, however, he needed to confess. Breathe in, exhale slowly, take a second to think.
[break][break]
"Kier... I... I need to tell you something... It's... a very old secret," he murmured, struggling to soothe his rampant emotions.
[break][break]
Slow breathing consumed Zeke as he attempted to gain the confidence to finally say those precious words; the ones he always wanted to say to Kiernan. Heart rate increased as a subtle blush tinted the dragon's cheeks a slight red. Despite the deliberated plans on how to confess his emotions, he found himself nervous and tight-lipped. Frightful thoughts of losing Kiernan wrestled fatalistic notions of everything already being over. Today was ruined, rejection inevitable, it was simply a matter of saying those words he longed to.
Seconds passed, Zeke's heart proceeding to pound inside his rib cage, nervousness draping heavily over his burden-filled shoulders. Closeness with Kiernan sparked anxieties of potentially doing something foolish or possibly anything unattractive while in his presence. Undoubtedly, he adored the kitsune's presence, the warmth from their intertwined hands alongside their general close proximity. Flustered emotions swirled around the dragon, those restless emotions he held towards Kiernan stirring, insisting he confessed the secret he held for decades.
[break][break]
Each fleeting glance towards Kiernan inspired the fantasies again, images of him sweeping the long-haired off his feet, murmuring those words of affection, finally confessing his love and kissing those soft lips. Alas, Zeke found himself motionless, glued in place because of the extensive list of fears surrounding the fanciful idea. Bravery, something lost which he desired to hold firmly so he could have the confidence and reveal his intense emotions towards his best friends. It was the oldest secret buried in his mind, something he dare not tell a soul.
[break][break]
Subtle hues of red tinted his pale cheeks, embarrassment flowing through the uncertain dragon. Already, his future was a muddled mess, questionable in the direction as navigation became blurred. Recovery, the only objective for the man battling PTSD but beyond the single word was nothing. Paths were everywhere and he stood in the center, lost, confused and frightened of what his future held. Involving Kiernan would provide him comfort, however, fears of stressing the man he loved lurked amidst the recesses of his mind.
[break][break]
Shakily, a breath was inhaled before escaping his lips slowly. Those wretched thoughts were pushed away, the former general desiring for happiness rather than the endless worries of his ever-changing life to consume him. Perhaps unknowingly, Kiernan assisted in avoiding those thoughts. A secret was mentioned, however, Zeke's eyes widened at what his closest friend informed him of. I don't find you have changed much either, those words astonished him, the former general sparing a few moments to merely stare at his crush, stunned by the compliment.
[break][break]
Gradually, shock broke into a small, heart-warming smile, the slight red tint increasing briefly before finally fading. The dragon's heartbeat increased, the flattery successfully uplifting his emotions, the teasing tone hardly bothering him. A content sigh escaped his lips, Zeke's gaze left Kiernan, but returned shortly afterwards.
[break][break]
"Thanks, Kier... I needed to hear that," he responded softly. "You're the best."
[break][break]
Anybody who wondered how he fell in love with Kiernan was foolish in Zeke's opinion. Supportive conversations similar to this always assisted with the gradual mending process. Those boosted positive emotions were small, but significant in his mental recovery. Without these moments, Zeke would undoubtedly fall deeper into the pit of anxiety induced from psychological trauma. Imagining his world without his family and Kiernan was impossible nowadays, those smiling faces providing him with a sense of stability in the changing currents of life.
[break][break]
A tightness enclosed his hand, Zeke briefly peeking down at their intertwined fingers and noticing the reciprocated squeeze. Gradually, the dish washing began, the pair working together to dry their plates and cutlery. Silence engulfed them, however, it was not hated by the dragon. These moments spent quietly working beside Kiernan was oddly comforting, a pleasant moment to truly enjoy his long-term crush's companionship. The final plate was tried, the soft rattle of it being set aside filling his ears as he reached to hang the towel on a hook beneath the sink.
[break][break]
Their hands remained clasped together, Zeke refusing to release the long-haired kitsune's hand. Once the t-towel was adequately hung, his gaze turned to his long-term crush to discover those stunning, silver eyes locked onto him. Caught up in the view, the dragon stared back, mesmerized by Kiernan's slender face. Rapidly, his heart pounded in his chest, heat rising in his face as a subtle blush played across his cheeks. Suddenly, his heartbeat increased, his face seemingly burning as blood flooded his cheeks and Kiernan's face grew closer.
[break][break]
Was this really happening?! The moment consumed Zeke despite his intense nervousness as he leaned closer until their lips pressed together as he returned his kiss. This was Heaven. Warmth filled the dragon's body, the sensation of his crush's soft lips against his own capturing his fixation. Only in dreams he successfully kissed Kiernan, however, the reality of the situation made it magnificent.
Fictitious eternities were spent dreaming about spending blissful and flustered moments alongside Kiernan. These fantasies danced inside his mind of precious romantic moments and sweet, flirtatious exchanges. Nervously, Zeke's heart thumped hard against his sternum, motivated by the subtle signs of mutually shared feelings between himself and his long-term crush. Alas, hesitance grasped him firmly, refusing to release the dragon from those dreadful thoughts of confessing his intense emotions too soon. He refused to accidentally push Kiernan away by taking everything too fast.
[break][break]
A specific time was required to confess his deep emotional connection to Kiernan, however, picking the correct moment felt nearly impossible considering this man created stability. Every shred of support was required for Zeke's potential recovery from his PTSD. Determination already surrounded him, the father knowing his children needed him, but supportive words and comforting conversations were required to assure he could partially recover or cope with the symptoms. Crumbling under the pressuring circumstances of his frightening members needed to be avoided at all costs, else he could be lost to despair.
[break][break]
Softly, Zeke chuckled when Kiernan admitted to still holding the stubborn trait. Merely witnessing it rear its horns was oddly comforting to the dragon. Changes over the past months appeared neverending, thus this sense of familiarity embraced him warmly, reminding him not everything was destined to change. The mere thought was comforting, resulting in Zeke revelling in Kiernan's stubborn attitude. Amusement breached his expression, obvious by the small smile and briefly fixated attention on his wondrous crush.
[break][break]
"I'm glad you're still stubborn. It's nice knowing some things won't change anytime soon." Subtle hints of a serious tone touched his answer, Zeke genuinely seeming thankful for something familiar.
[break][break]
When their hands connected, a spark manifested inside Zeke as bashful emotions gripped him, quickening his breath, reddening his face and influencing an extreme heat to transcend over him. Perfection, it existed in this moment where their hands maintained closeness and both parties debated the following actions. Fleeting glances at Kiernan's reddened face provided hints about the romantic opinions one another held. There was heightened breathing and cheeks painted red, Zeke detecting the symptoms of fluster in Kiernan's reaction to their spontaneous hand holding.
[break][break]
Viewing those traits inspired Zeke to take the initiative and weave their fingers together, creating a new sense of closeness in their hand holding. His endless affection towards the delightful kitsune influenced thoughts of how exactly to inform him of those passionate emotions. Alas, the dragon found himself submitted to an awkward state of silence over his romantic thoughts and feelings. Trepidation hung over him, whispering through sharp teeth about the possibility of completely losing Kiernan should he fail to become an adequate boyfriend.
[break][break]
Furthermore, interpreting these signs affection was always an anxiety-inducing task consider a single read too far or misunderstanding could place strain on their relationship. While they scrubbed dishes, a soft sigh escaped Zeke's lips. There was mild annoyance discovered in these pesky reminders of what he could potentially lose should he date Kiernan. What if the relationship went completely awry and they ended up on nightmarish terms? A brief glance was spared towards his long-haired crush, the dragon wondering if he could gamble this relationship for the one he desired for decades.
[break][break]
Reassurance was craved, Zeke unconsciously squeezing Kiernan's hand while he shoved those thoughts into the back of his head to focus on the present conversation. Their discussion about the pride parade allowed a tiny smile to reach the former general's lips, although, it nearly wavered. Friend, was that how Kiernan still viewed him in this present moment? Perhaps he merely desired the nostalgic sensation of holding hands from when they were children? Nervousness insisted on reading too far into the simple word, playing hard on Zeke's fears of rejection from his long-term crush.
[break][break]
"Yeah... I'm excited to spend it with you too," Zeke responded awkwardly.
[break][break]
Slight lukewarm emotions breached his cheerful facade, Zeke flinching subtly from hearing the tone of his own voice, however, he concerned himself with the future task of drying dishes. A deep breath allowed for a secondary reassurance, hectic thoughts reminding him he stood a chance. Even if the hand holding was merely nostalgia, it lasted for an extensive time, and certainly, that meant something, right?
[break][break]
"We shall," he teased back, confidence slightly renewed.
[break][break]
The moment Kiernan grabbed the plate, Zeke automatically reached for the towel, slowly rubbing the porcelain surface. Tightly, the dragon held his beloved crush's hand as they dried dishes together. Alas, each second was spent desperately attempting to shove his anxieties away. Nervousness needed to be vanquished before confidence and courage could finally hail.
Mutual enjoyment of their future vacation resulted in a series of heart flutters entering Zeke's chest as a broad, warm smile graced his countenance. Days spent accomplishing oftentimes mundane tasks together while relishing in a therapeutic atmosphere sounded like a dream. Entertainment discovered in conversation and general time spent together would finally provide Zeke with the opportunity to relax alongside Kiernan. A daydreamer's smile crawled onto the dragon's face, the former general's infatuation with the notion of a vacation clinging to his mind.
[break][break]
Blush became evident in a subtle hint of redness on Zeke's cheeks at Kiernan's desires for him to adore the vacation as well. Both possessed redness on their face, the former general's gaze locked onto the magnificent beauty of blush resulting in his heart rate increasing. Positive emotions surfaced, the grin widening he admired the stunning view of the long-haired kitsune. Everything about Kiernan blushing was viewed as adorable, reddened cheeks, slight shyness working alongside his natural attractiveness.
[break][break]
Time spent with the kitsune was addicting, Zeke fancying every second of his time with him. He absolutely adored the man's company, the playful teasing summoned once forgotten smiles and assisted in coping with the damages inflicted by his extensive torture through those hellish months. While PTSD proceeded to linger inside his mind, Zeke found himself recovering from the mental struggles to a degree because of his family's endless support, but also due to Kiernan's closeness and dependability. The compliment his long-term crush provided were the heavenly words of an angel to his ears.
[break][break]
Red consumed his face, painted itself vividly against his fair skin and making his flustered state obvious. Direct flattery from Kiernan was unexpected, being something he only heard in pleasant dreams of the stunning man. Rapidly, Zeke's heart thumped against his chest, desiring freedom from the cage it was trapped inside. Freedom was desired by his heart as it wished to proclaim his endless love for Kiernan. After a few moments, Zeke glanced away from his long-term crush, his flustered emotions struggling to handle the gracious compliment.
[break][break]
Silence reigned over Zeke because of the compliment Kiernan was willing to provide him. Minutes passed before the blood flowed out from his cheeks, the redness and heat finally decreasing. When the kitsune insisted on being stubborn, the dragon laughed softly and shook his head. Composure was found as his mind focused on his friend's strong-willed attitude in forcing him to pick. A smile was evident on the dragon's as he spared a glance at Kiernan, an extreme loving-nature obvious in his dull brown eyes.
[break][break]
"Still as stubborn as ever, eh?" He teased in return.
[break][break]
Scrubbing the dishes clean was viewed as the harder and more disgusting task, thus Zeke reached for the scrubber. If Kiernan planned on being stubborn, he decided on picking the less-favourable job. Unconsciously, without even glancing at the scrubber, Zeke reached for it, only to discover a pleasant surprise. Softness collided with the prosthetic hand, the dark-haired dragon promptly glancing down to notice his hand touching Kiernan's. Immediately, Zeke's heart rate increased, blush covered his cheeks and the bridge of his nose.
[break][break]
He found himself frozen, unable to pull away from the kitsune's delicate hands. Breathing became faster, Zeke's eyes slowly glancing at his long-term friend's face. Heartbeats became faster, the dragon's eyes widening when he noticed the redness painted across his crush's face. Their hands remained close, the former general finding himself lost on how to proceed, however, his crush displayed his plan first. A grip became evident around his hand, Zeke's gaze briefly glancing at their hands before returning to Kiernan's face.
[break][break]
The teasing compliment in their flirtatious instance further increased the intense blush evident on Zeke's face. The sound of his heartbeat echoed in his mind, the dragon flattered by his hand still being referred to as comfortable. Silently, the dragon listened to Kiernan requesting him to wait, his open hand grabbing the scrubber to one-handed clean the dishes. A deeply inhaled breath filled Zeke's lungs, being held for a few seconds before being gradually released. Confidence embraced him, slight, but something for the timid man to cling to.
[break][break]
After a few moments, he led Kiernan's soft hand to his side, adjusting his to improve his grip of the man's hand. Another slow breath was taken until, finally, Zeke intertwined his fingers with his long-term crush's. Meanwhile, his open hand grabbed the dish, dipping it into the water and allowing Kiernan to scrub it. A bashful smile curled onto his lips, reddened cheeks faded slightly as his brown eyes gazed at the man he loved.
[break][break]
"We're... suppose to work together," he softly stated, "and... your hand is comfy too... I missed holding it."
[break][break]
Despite the prosthetic hand being unable to sense similar to the real one, Zeke's hand was encompassed by a sense of warmth. Comfort, happiness, embarrassment and endless nervousness mixed together inside of the dragon's body. Everything about the current situation was pleasant, however, nerve-wracking as fears possibly failing to please Kiernan entered his mind. The last thing Zeke desired was the possibility of losing their connection; of accomplishing something which could push him away. Fortunately, according to their current actions, things were transpiring excellently between them.
[break][break]
As they proceeded to wash dishes, Zeke took fleeting glances at his stunning crush. A small, heavenly smile was evident on the dragon's face as he continued to assist his friend.
[break][break]
"I'm... really excited for the parade... I bet it will be colourful," Zeke casually stated.
[break][break]
Anxieties grasped his mental state, however, Zeke was determined to continue conversing with the long-haired kitsune. Admittedly, Zeke was head over heels in love with his long-term crush, those feelings refusing to die despite the distance which strained their relationship. Even when he dated the mother of his children, the dragon found his thoughts occasionally returning to Kiernan, still desiring that connection. He could never explain those emotions but in this current moment, Zeke was over-joyed to be standing beside the man he loved since childhood.
[break][break]
Hands clasped together, working on a single goal while they appreciated one another's company. It was absolute bliss for the man attempting to handle the darkness in his mind.
Eye contact avoidance and bashful glanced away kept the pair of love-struck men from noticing their mutual emotions for once another. Flutters inside his chest maintained a subtle redness to Zeke's cheeks as he giddily smiled over their current interaction. A shyness grasped him, his endearing long-term crush easily conquering his heart and inspiring positive emotions. Paradise existed wherever Kiernan and his family was, the darkness clouding his mind being fended off by the everlasting love and support.
[break][break]
Fantasies of their vacation together entered the dragon's mind, a wonder-filled smile stretched across his lips. Morning hugs and pleasant hours spent conversing and enjoying his time with Kiernan. A zealous sigh escaped the dragon, excitement pumping into Zeke's veins at the mere thought of spending those wonderful days with his crush. The response to his desire was answered with perfection, blood immediately pooling into the dragon's cheeks. Heat consumed his face as Zeke bashfully glanced away, mentally gushing over the fact Kiernan found the idea as perfect.
[break][break]
Immediately, the smile widened, heart, beating rapidly and nervousness consuming his body. The answer was endearing to Zeke, intense positive emotions intoxicating the young man. Minutes passed until the blood escaped his cheeks and heat dissipated from his face. A breath was taken, deep and filling his lungs, only to finally be released in a slow exhale. Shortly, his eyes flitted towards Kiernan, the bold comment bringing a heart-warming smile onto his lips. Mutual enjoyment of their vacation made the notion attractive to the ice dragon.
[break][break]
"I'm glad... I want us to both enjoy this, you know? It only seems right if we're both having fun," Zeke responded, still smiling.
[break][break]
Smiles continued to play across Zeke's lips when Kiernan stated his cooking was good. The former general was pleased he could cook a delicious breakfast for the man he adored. The happiness only increased when the kitsune confessed to adoring the idea being cooked for again. The dragon gazed at the long-haired man, noticing the subtle redness evident on the man's cheek manifesting endearment. A small smile graced his crush's lips, the following compliment making Zeke's heartbeat increase while redness embraced his cheeks.
[break][break]
"You... really think so?" He asked, evidently flattered by the comment. "You're too sweet."
[break][break]
The comment escaped his lips naturally, Zeke's cheeks turning redder, glancing away from Kiernan. Embarrassment grasped him, heart fluttering and face slightly red. Instead of focusing on those intense emotions, the dragon prepared the sink for dishes, putting the plug in. The sink handles were twisted, water flowing through the sink as Zeke squirted dish soap into the water. A soft chuckle leaving his lips when Kiernan began teasing him again.
[break][break]
"You pick, I decided the breakfast and I don't care which job I get," he responded, smirking.
[break][break]
Redness faded from Zeke's face as he assured everything was prepared for the dish washing. Afterwards, he leaned against the counter, peripheral vision carefully watching the rising water and bubbles piling up as time proceeded. When the water level proved to be high enough, the dragon turned the handles, shutting off the water. Already thoughts were circling through his mind, Zeke already planning on taking the oftentimes disliked chore of scrubbing the dishes clean should Kiernan decide to remain stubborn about him picking his task.
Pleasant aromas of freshly cooked food brought a smile to Zeke’s face and an empty sensation to his stomach, however, breakfast only manifested a portion of his excitement. Thoughts of sitting beside Kiernan as they peacefully consumed their wonderful food intensified the growing exhilaration inside of the dragon. In a rapid rhythm, his heart thumped against his sternum, a broad grin forming onto his lips as minutes ticked closer to meal time. Despite his years, it felt like centuries had passed since Zeke gained the opportunity to adore a meal with his crush.
[break][break]
Initially, when Zeke returned to Lorsette, endless fears about the radical changes he underwent during his torture filled his mind. The moment he opened the door, brown eyes locking onto Kiernan for the first time in years, the former general was terrified that their connection would never resurface. Alas, the following months proved their bond was stronger than ever, Kiernan's supportive attitude when Zeke was broken and vulnerable. Comfort was discovered in those welcoming arms, those pleasant words assisting in mending the damages caused by the abhorrent torture.
[break][break]
A soft laugh escaped Zeke's mouth when Kiernan teased about consuming his food at a slower pace nowadays. A large smile curved onto the dragon's lips as he glanced over at the adorable kitsune.
[break][break]
"Sooo, I am improving?" He asked, chuckling softly.
[break][break]
Serving breakfast for Kiernan was a spectacular experience despite how mundane an action it was. The moment absorbed Zeke, the dark-haired dragon feeling as though he was properly playing the husband role. While everything was a fantasized notion, the former general savoured every second of the heartwarming sensation arriving with a job well-done. Once he successfully retrieved the forks, Zeke returned to the table, giving Kiernan his fork.
[break][break]
Concern entered the dragon's mind when he successfully detected Kiernan's lie. A frown breached his countenance, something stirring inside him and providing the inclination of the kitsune's lies. Although, Zeke's smile slightly returned when Kiernan shortly confessed the reason behind his lying. Initially, the smile was small as Kiernan explained he wished to arrange the best vacation for him. A subtle shade of red was painted across the dragon's face, the grin broadening when his crush stated he desired to handle the what if's.
[break][break]
Alas, the mention of hugs increased the blush immensely, the dragon bashfully glancing away as he slowly sat beside Kiernan. There were pleasant flutters occurring in Zeke's chest at those incredible offers and thoughts of a relaxing vacation. Every morning involving warm embraces and cheering from the long-haired man sounded magnificent. Eventually, the red faded from his cheeks, but endless smiles remained.
[break][break]
"... I love that idea... When we go there... I want a hug every morning... If that's okay of course. Thanks for everything Kier, I really appreciate you for doing this for me," Zeke happily responded.
[break][break]
Gradually, Zeke's heart rate elevated, the ice dragon craving the courage to finally say I love you to his long-term crush, however, trepidation kept him silent. Losing Kiernan because mutual feelings of romance were nonexistent was a terrifying and anxiety-inducing notion. Desperately, he found himself clinging to the support the kitsune, going lengths of depending on his positive words. Slowly, the fork was softly grasped in Zeke's hand as he began using the fork to ferry food to his mouth, sparing a moment to admire his own cooking.
[break][break]
At a steady pace, Zeke proceeded to consume his breakfast, eyes flitting sideways to glance at his crush through his peripheral vision. Promptly, the dragon's eyes widened as his head turned to witness the spectacle Kiernan hastily shovelling food into his mouth within minutes. Gradually, the former general enjoyed his breakfast, chuckling when the long-haired kitsune stated he was finished while Zeke food remained unfinished. A soft, happy laugh flowed through his mouth while a broad, toothy grin lit up his face.
[break][break]
"I guess you're right, I do eat slower now," he playfully teased. "It must have been good if you enjoyed it that much."
[break][break]
There was a pause as Zeke allowed Kiernan to respond, the laugh slowly fading as a soft smile graced his mouth. A single thought entered his mind, the dragon's eyes becoming gentle as a subtle red touched his cheeks again. Bashful grasped him briefly, Zeke sucking a breath deep into his lungs before slowly exhaling.
[break][break]
"Um... Kier? ... Do you think I could cook for you again sometime? Cause... this was really fun," he shyly confessed. "It's just... I love being able to do these types of things for you... You've done so much for me, and it feels like I can show my appreciation by doing this."
[break][break]
The nervous confession summoned flutters in Zeke's heart as he glanced at Kiernan for a fleeting moment before his brown eyes returned to his breakfast. Calmness slowly managed to reclaim the former general, allowing him to proceed to eat his breakfast again. The delicious meal was consumed in a timely manner, Zeke cleaning his plate and enjoying the refreshing taste of water to wash down the food. When he completed his breakfast, the dragon was surprised when the kitsune fetched his plate, taking it to the sink.
[break][break]
"Thanks, Kier. Now, do you want to wash or dry?" Zeke inquired.
[break][break]
There was no hesitation as Zeke rose from his chair and walked over to the sink. Patiently, he waited for Kiernan to decide which portion of the chore he wished to accomplish. While the kitsune decided, Zeke grabbed a drying towel from the hook under the sink, the rack and finally the dish soap to finally set up the job.
Pleasant aromas filled the kitchen as Zeke steadily proceeded cooking their breakfast. The sizzling noises of grease accumulating in the frying pans and the steady, albeit, subtle clicks of the air fryer. Everything was operating as required to assure breakfast would be created on a timely basis. Excitement flowed heavily through Zeke's vein, a subtle skip to his step solely because he gained the opportunity to serve Kiernan breakfast. Hopes were fixated on the long-haired man enjoying the entirety of their breakfast.
[break][break]
Merely the thought of sitting beside his long-term crush and eating together made Zeke's heart soar wildly with excitement; better ways to enjoy breakfast were nonexistent. A refreshed smile gracing the former general's lips when Kiernan stated he enjoyed them doing dishes together. Those were a few more precious seconds together, talking and enjoying one another's company, furthermore, they would be completing a simple household chore; if only he gained the courage to ask Kiernan out... The companionship he received from the kitsune was unique and desirable, bringing forth intense sensations of happiness.
[break][break]
The shivers became evident when Zeke finally pulled away, fingers softly tracing Kiernan's hand, however, he was unable to admire the smoothness and beauty of touch. The specialized, magic-fueled prosthetic could accomplish wonders, but the sensation of touch was beyond its capabilities, yet, the feeling of pain was a plausible outcome; sometimes he thought this thing hated him... Metallic and cold, the prosthetic's inability to produce sufficient warmth alongside his affiliation with ice-based magic could have easily made Kiernan receive a chill.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, Zeke naively believed it was merely the prosthetic which manifested the shivers rather than the softness of his touch or possible enjoyment of it. A soft laugh escaped the dragon's lips at the kitsune's words of wisdom, there was never a need to rush.
[break][break]
"I would hope I would know that by now... Remember when I would shovel back food super quick just so we could go back to playing? I'm surprised I still don't have the hiccups!" A hearty chuckle leaving his mouth, the memories bringing Zeke a sense of joy.
[break][break]
Another soft laugh left Zeke's lips when Kiernan informed him there would be no other option than to accept reciprocation. Quickly, the dragon turned away, grabbing the spatula to scramble the eggs as Kiernan requested. The first spatula was placed down as Zeke grabbed the other to flip the bacon. There were no requests for the bacon to be crispier than usual, thus he merely proceeded to accomplish the average. Carefully, the spatula was placed down, Zeke grabbing some bread and popping it into the toaster.
[break][break]
There was a nod of acknowledgement when Kiernan stated his walk was alright, desperately attempting to push those fears down. Fortunately, a smile was created at the mentioning of requiring a warm hug that morning. A pleasant sense of warmth entered the dragon's heart at the thought of embracing Kier throughout their childhood. He was always considered a hugger, deriving pleasure in holding his best friend close.
[break][break]
"That... would have been nice... but... at least I got to hug you today," the dragons soft words stated. "That helped."
[break][break]
Gradually, the dragon proceeded with his cooking at a smooth pace. Occasionally, the air fryer's handle would be grabbed to shake the contents to avoiding sticking, eggs were moved about the pan, bacon adjusted and butter alongside a knife gathered for the toast. However, everything froze when Kiernan mentioned the possibility of a vacation, resulting in a wide-eyed Zeke providing the man with a majority of his attention. Already, his heart was racing, thumping against his rib cage in excitement over the offer.
[break][break]
Options were provided, but what activity was chosen hardly mattered to the dragon as other thoughts occupied his mind. Perhaps Kiernan owned mutual feelings? The offer suggested there was a chance, however, Zeke proceeded to fear he could be incorrect about his assumption but was there harm in trying once the opportunity presented itself?
[break][break]
"Sure, sounds like fun," the dragon answered, grinning like a love-struck fool. "Honestly, anything relaxing sounds wonderful after... um... what happened..."
[break][break]
The final words escaped his lips as a mumble, Zeke desiring to avoid those abhorrent thoughts of those months spent hidden away, facing horrors because of his rank. Gradually, breakfast was completed, the dragon briefly glancing over his shoulder to peek at a now silent Kiernan. Based on the kitsune's expression alone, he was deep in thought, thus he merely proceeded to finish the cooking. Two plates were retrieved from the cupboard and settled onto the counter, finished foods quickly being placed on top until everything was neatly arranged.
[break][break]
Appliances were turned off as foods finished cooking, the dragon assuring the notches of the oven were properly turned each time. Chances were, Emily and Lucas would sleep in considering it was a weekend they would be spending with their grandparents, although, Zeke would gladly continue cooking for his children. Slowly, the former general approached the table, frowning at Kiernan as he placed down the plates.
[break][break]
"You okay?" Zeke asked, gently touching his friend's shoulder after setting the plates down. "You look like you have something on your mind."
[break][break]
The inquiry was left to sit as Zeke turned to retrieve forks, setting one beside Kiernan's plate and another beside his own. Afterwards, he poured himself a glass of water, entirely avoiding his usual cup of coffee; caffeine never mixed well with anxiety. When everything was gathered, he sat beside his friend and prepared to enjoy the freshly made breakfast.
Those few moments where Kiernan's body was pressed against his felt precious. Warmth shared between physical contact, the comfort of embracing somebody he cared deeply about, and finally, the hug's reciprocation as the kitsune's arms wrapped around him. Everything he dreamed about presented itself in those few moments, the chance to tightly embrace Kiernan and to play husband. Gaining this incredible opportunity sparked emotions of intense happiness as the corners of his lips curled up into a broad smile.
[break][break]
Inside the dragon's chest, his heart fluttered wildly in bliss over their close proximity. Unfortunately, their awkwardly long hug between friends eventually ended. The signs of mutual feelings went unnoticed, Zeke becoming more concerned with his own rapid breathing and excitedly beating heart. The forgiveness allowed the former general's eyes to briefly flit towards Kier, a faint redness stretching across his cheeks. The moment Kiernan provided his drink answer, Zeke smoothly grabbed a tall, glass cup from the cupboard and filled it with water before setting it onto the table for him.
[break][break]
Carefully, the dragon's fingers were wrapped around the glass, softly setting it onto the kitchen table, a gentle clink entering the room as the item was set down. Briefly, attention was stolen from making breakfast, the former general's attention fixating on his precious friend. Help was offered, Kiernan clearly wishing to make himself useful opposed to sitting nicely and waiting for breakfast to be served to him. A soft laugh escaped when he noticed his crush staring at the sink. Once he managed to settle the kitsune at the kitchen table, Zeke proceeded to smile at him.
[break][break]
"How about... when I finish cooking, you help me with dishes? Then we can leave after their done," Zeke offered with a reassuring smile. "We can work together."
[break][break]
Witnessing his long-term crush glance away when he insisted to make him feel special manifested a broad smile on Zeke's face, his cheeks still containing a subtle hue of red. Softly, the dragon began releasing Kiernan's wrist, his finger's softly brushing against the kitsune's hand; it was difficult to resist. Everything he desired in a significant other was perched before him. For years, Kiernan was the individual he wanted to date and display his endless affection for, however, the dragon's concerns over rejection kept him silenced.
[break][break]
Time was what Zeke required, minutes to gain the courage to confess his true feelings for the extraordinary man who stole his heart during their childhood. Redness touched the former general's cheeks when Kiernan promised to return the favour. For a moment, Zeke's brown eyes gazed into his crush's magnificent grey ones, holding there briefly before he bashful glanced away. Slowly, a smile touched the dragon's lips, surprise fading into a content countenance.
[break][break]
"I... I would like that," he murmured softly.
[break][break]
Hesitance marked Zeke's movements when he finally pulled away from Kiernan to start their breakfast. A brief smile was flashed at his long-haired man before he returned to his cooking. Bacon was placed into the pan, the sizzling sounds of breakfast being cooked filling the kitchen.
[break][break]
"How do you like your eggs and bacon, Kier?" Zeke inquired as he opened the egg carton.
[break][break]
Once provided an answer, he began making the eggs and bacon the way his crush enjoyed him; Zeke was never picky about food preparations. Widened eyes displayed surprise when Kiernan inquired about his morning, a warm smile appearing on his lips.
[break][break]
"It hasn't been bad... Had a bit of... a moment, but nothing really bad. Just... got dressed and cleaned up, nothing really eventful." Zeke explained, vaguely hinting at the dark thoughts which quickened his brief while he changed clothes. "It was mostly boring stuff... How was your trip over here?"
[break][break]
As the bacon and eggs cooked, Zeke moved to enter the pantry, grabbing the air fryer and setting it onto the counter. Afterwards, he grabbed hash browns from the freezer, this particular brand was shaped in fairly large circles compared to average. Smoothly, he dumped a few into the fryer, twisting the knob once everything was settled into it. Excess ingredients were put away, Zeke grabbing the plates as he ignored thoughts of his brief encounter with those dark thoughts. Avoiding them was impossible, but occasionally, the dragon would occupy his mind with other activities to defend himself from the debilitating memories.
Intense desires to cook a proper meal for Kiernan filled Zeke's mind. For centuries, the ice dragon found himself permanently love-struck by the magnificent kitsune. Astounding, pleasant, supportive and sweet, Kiernan meant everything to the former general. It was everything he required throughout these difficult months battling his inner demons; his post-traumatic stress disorder which he was learning to cope with. As a result, the dark-haired dragon clung to his long-term crush, the emotional support given by Kiernan becoming something he depended on.
[break][break]
The instant his desire was questioned, Zeke hastily nodded, yes, to display his wishes to cook for his beloved crush. Providing for Kiernan, it was something the dragon fantasized about playing the helpful husband to the kitsune he adored for centuries. Fears of never losing his closest friend because of the feelings he harboured made him cling to the opportunity to play house and cook for the man he loved. The frown broke into a small smile when Kiernan playfully teased him about toast was out of the question.
[break][break]
"Yes... yes it is," he softly laughed.
[break][break]
The playful teasing was welcomed by the dragon, his heartbeat soaring because of the over-zealous emotions overflowing in his body. Happiness flowed through his veins, the excellent opportunity to cook a meal for Kiernan manifesting excitement alongside millions of ideas for a proper breakfast. Promptly after their agreement, Kiernan stepped surprisingly close and poked his chest and playfully declared he would eat whatever he planned on having. Complaints about the closeness never escaped Zeke's lips, his affectionate feelings towards Kiernan resulting in enjoyment being created from their close proximity.
[break][break]
The intense joy was overflowing, the dragon not concerned about Kiernan's decision to avoid choosing the food; all that mattered was the opportunity handed to him. Abruptly, Zeke's arms reached out to embrace his long-haired crush, a broad smile stretching across his lips as he gently squeezed the man.
[break][break]
"Thank you! Thank you so much, Kier!" He exclaimed excitedly.
[break][break]
Rapidly, Zeke's heart pounded against his chest as the dragon became intoxicated by these positive emotions. Judgement was clouded for a moment as he happily embraced his closest friend. Seconds passed, awkwardness entering Zeke's smile upon realizing his exhilaration about providing Kiernan possessed him briefly. In a deliberate pace, the former general released his crush, hand reaching up to scratch the back of his head. Eyes flitted down towards the floor, embarrassment over his actions consuming his mind.
[break][break]
"S-sorry... I just... really wanted to cook for you," he mumbled, a nervous laugh proceeding his words.
[break][break]
Slow breaths were accomplished, in, out, just breathe, calm yourself, it is okay. These soothing actions were frequently completed during situations where anxieties entered his mind. Bashfully, Zeke turned away from his crush, glancing around the kitchen before glancing over his shoulder.
[break][break]
"A-anyways... how about eggs, bacon, toast and hashbrowns? That will fill you plenty," he inquired softly. "Also, what would you like to drink?"
[break][break]
Items were grabbed to proceed with the cooking, frying pans were procured from the kitchen drawers, one more the eggs and another for the bacon. The burners were turned on, the frying pans placed on top for the purpose of assuring the metal would be appropriately heated. Afterwards, he turned to grab the ingredients from the refrigerator, placing a carton of eggs and a package of bacon.
[break][break]
"How would you-" the dragon paused when he noticed his friend awkwardly standing in front of the sink. A soft laugh escaped his mouth as he proceeded to speak. "What are you doing?"
[break][break]
An amused smile stretched across the dragon's face at Kiernan's search to assist the situation. Softly, Zeke's fingers reaching to wrap around his close friend's wrist to lead him to the kitchen table. Instantly, his heart began skipping beats when he reached for his crush's wrist, the notion of subtly touching Kiernan manifesting a sense of nervousness. He adored this magnificent man, a slight redness touching Zeke's cheeks as he nervously glanced away from his crush, only returning his gaze when the warmth disappeared and his cheeks turned pale again.
[break][break]
"Just sit," Zeke insisted, planning to him to a chair. "I want to make you feel special... However... your job can be to keep me company while a cook... I need someone to talk to."
[break][break]
A slight hue of red graced Zeke's cheeks as he mentioned wanting to make Kiernan feel special. The endless love he possessed for the gorgeous man resulted in this deep desire to allow the kitsune to sit and wait for breakfast to be served. Being served a marvelous breakfast was a gift the former general believed his long-term crush deserved. This man assisted him with the alleviation of PTSD symptoms, allowing Zeke to slowly recover from traumatic events that transpired in his past.
Prayers fluttered through Zeke’s head, his hopes fixated on the notion of cooking for his darling Kiernan. The incredible long-haired man assisted with his emotional mending since he returned from British Columbia. Supportive, stabilizing and benevolent, Kiernan easily created a requirement to display how appreciative he was for his crush's time. Surprise conquered his expression, the dark-haired dragon attempting to keep his disappointment about possibly losing the opportunity to cook for Kiernan. Persuasion became his only solace, the only thing which could potentially allow the desired outcome to surface.
[break][break]
Finally, Zeke's eyes ceased their seemingly endless wander around the kitchen for a breakfast idea. They returned to Kiernan's face, easily detecting the amusement in their expression. A few moments later, a broad smile curled onto the dragon's face when his close friend began playfully teasing him about his decision to have cereal. The smug grin stretching across his crush's face explained everything, prompting a soft laugh. The dragon nodded in response to the kitsune's question, however, there were subtle hints of concern rising.
[break][break]
The insistence to merely have cereal fractured Zeke's smile, the corners of his lips soon dropping into a frown. Incessantly, the dragon would worry about his closest friend. It was a natural instinct after loving him for an extensive period of time; Kiernan stole his heart years ago. The soft chuckle after admitting his uncertainties about what he would consume resulted in Zeke's eyes flitting to his crush's face. A gentle sigh escaped the dragon's lips as the long-haired man appeared to finalize his choice of food.
[break][break]
Briefly, the dragon glanced back towards the cupboards, wishing Kiernan had decided to eat something more filling for breakfast; he feared his crush would grow hungry. Moments later he heard a single word escape his crush's mouth, Zeke's heart skipping a beat as he quickly turned around and nodded eagerly.
[break][break]
"Of course! I've never gotten to cook for you... and I... really wanted to," Zeke quietly admitted. "It's just... you've helped me so much... and I want to show my appreciation..."
[break][break]
Dreams could potentially be answered, although, the dragon feared he would unintentional guilt trip Kiernan into picking a different food. The endless appreciation was only one of the motivations Zeke held for desiring to cook for the long-haired kitsune. Intense emotions of love were felt towards the wonderful man, and the dragon wished for just an instance where he could play house and cook for Kiernan. Joy transcended over Zeke at the prospect, thus the former general was praying his crush would warrant him this action.
[break][break]
Everything this magnificent man accomplished for him deserved rewarding. The eternal gratitude Zeke felt towards his crush inspired these requirements to demonstrate it through any means necessary. Besides, Kiernan's return to the dragon's life spared him from the depressing emotions and anxieties which constantly plagued it. Imaginary centuries passed since Zeke felt security and safety, but the supportive kitsune provided those emotions daily. There were no words which could describe the former general's thankfulness for Kiernan's consistent encouragement.
Eyes avoided Kiernan's when Zeke's mother decided to make her comment about his crush essentially living inside his home, alongside him. The mere thought of living with the kitsune flustered the dragon, his intense emotions towards the man reminding him how splendid it would be. Waking each morning in a shared bed, snuggling throughout the days and enjoying all their meals together. Those mundane discussions filled with playful remarks and those serious ones where they embraced tightly to remind one another of their love.
[break][break]
The blush increased as the short-haired man realized he was fantasizing about possessing an intimate relationship with his closest friend. Rapidly, Zeke’s heart was pounding, face heating up similar to a furnace as he realized his romantic fantasizing sparked during a horrible time. Oftentimes, he only warranted himself these thoughts in the evenings where it assisted in lulling him into a happy sleep. Alas, the dragon found himself longing for a reality where mutual love was evident between them and he could live alongside Kiernan.
[break][break]
Until the redness and heat finally dissipated, Zeke allowed his gaze to linger elsewhere, resulting in him completely missing Kiernan’s flustered state; the dragon was oblivious about his friend sharing similar emotions. Relaxation wrapped around the lovestruck dragon once he persuaded his mother to proceed with her chores. There were no doubts Zeke loved his mother, however, the former General feared she would potentially create another fluster-inducing comment. A broad grin stretched across the dragon’s face, excitement manifesting at the sheer thought of cooking for his adorable crush or purchasing breakfast.
[break][break]
The decision was made to remain at home, Zeke’s smile gaining power as he pondered what he Kiernan would potentially request, however, an anticlimactic choice escaped his crush’s sweet lips. Quickly, the dragon’s eyes widened, the man evidently bewildered by the rather meagre choice of food. Cereal, something Zeke frequently associated as a hastily made and eaten breakfast before work or school. There was nothing wrong with the breakfast food, but the former General knew it could never beat a complete breakfast with a mixture of foods.
[break][break]
The dragon was beaming at his crush, surprise became obvious by his expression. Perhaps the short-haired man was over-eager about the potential options. Admittedly, he enjoyed cooking immensely, and the notion of cooking for Kier filled him with joy. Never had he been capable of cooking a meal for Kier, thus he had been hopeful.
[break][break]
“Cereal? Are you sure? I can cook you just about anything Kier,” Zeke inquired, refusing to yield to a disappointed frown. “I mean… I’m a pretty good cook… and cereal is pretty small...”
[break][break]
A facade of acceptance breached his face, the timid man’s dreams of finally cooking for his beloved crush dashed in a few simple words. Wordlessly, he glanced around the kitchen, debating his own meal after Kiernan’s choice of cereal; Zeke never thought he would make a temporary enemy of cereal. The former General became clueless towards what food he desired. Decisions were placed in Kier’s hand, however, cereal not a pleasing option for Zeke. While he would devour a bowl on occasions, it was merely when there was limited time.
[break][break]
A question about his breakfast resulted in Zeke raising a brow in uncertainty; he genuinely was unsure what he wanted. Slowly, he was gaining ideas, but nothing remained solid. However, his uncertainties about Kiernan's choice prompted the dragon to ponder if cereal would be an adequate breakfast choice for this situation. Naturally, he desired his long-term crush to be comfortable and not forced to feel an empty stomach; a month of near starvation in the clutches of the Assembly made him aware of the horrid situations. Visibly, Zeke was attempting to keep his breathing tamed, a mere glance at Kiernan granting him some strength.
[break][break]
“Uh… Good question… I’m not too sure myself,” Zeke responded, a small laugh escaping his mouth. “Honestly, I was hoping you would pick something other than cereal… I mean… you chose what you want… I’m just… surprised… Are you sure that will be enough? I can make you something to go with it… I mean… We’re going out, so we will probably be on our feet all day.”
[break][break]
Persuasion appeared to be the only method to assure he could possibly cook for Kier and avoid his crush eating too little. They would be walking around and standing throughout the day, making breakfast a crucial meal to stave hunger. While he patiently waited to assure his persuasion would work, Zeke glanced around the kitchen, gradually creating a plan for a suitable breakfast.
Long, dark hair, grey eyes and a slender frame, Zeke easily recognized the man he mentally referred to as his calm. Whenever ill-favourable circumstances manifested intense emotions of anxiety, the dragon always discovered a soothing sensation transcending over him because of Kiernan's comforting words. Since the short-haired man's abrupt return from British Columbia, the kitsune's friendly, familiar face was always around for emotional support. His childhood friend and long-term crush brought forth the stabilization the former General required after his brutal torturing.
[break][break]
Radical improvements to Zeke's emotional state began when the re-connection process started between the pair. Their intense closeness through childhood was rebuilding, providing the dragon with an overwhelming sense of happiness. Supportive comments, helpful friends and relatives, it was everything the former General suffering from PTSD could desire. The smiling faces of those who cared provided relief from the mental weights created from the torture he underwent. Witnessing a wide grin stretch across Kiernan's face brought immense joy to Zeke.
[break][break]
There was a special quality to Kier's smiles which resulted in flutters occurring in the dragon's heart. Smiles enhanced the slender man's incredible beauty, Zeke finding himself unable to glance away. Immediately after viewing the long-haired man's grin, the dragon's broadened. There were plenty of sacrifices Zeke was willing to make to witness the corners of Kiernan's lips tug back into a smile. Those including laying down his own intense feelings towards his long-time crush to warrant him happiness with somebody else; he merely desired for Kier to be happy.
[break][break]
The reciprocation of the sleeping question always managed to surprise Zeke, an unnoticeable hint of red embracing his cheeks from the consideration Kiernan returned. Once his friend entered the home, the dragon closed the door behind him, locking the cool temperature inside.
[break][break]
"I've been sleeping better, so I can't really complain," Zeke answered. Afterwards, a soft mumbled followed, "God, I thought I would never get a good night's rest again."
[break][break]
Shortly after the horrific incident, Zeke's slumbers were plagued by traumatizing nightmares from the event, each evening promptly being consumed by his paranoid thoughts. He feared sleep because of the helplessness forced upon him the instant he crossed into the realm of dreams. Alas, the supportive influence from his loved ones eventually assisted in creating a calmness during sleep hours, allowing the dragon to finally rest as needed. Unfortunately, he always found himself struggling to cease those frightful thoughts, thus delaying his slumber.
[break][break]
Briefly, Fiona glanced over her shoulder, ignoring the dishes to flash Kiernan a friendly smile. Even she appeared content with witnessing the long-haired man return into Zeke's life.
[break][break]
"Good morning, Kier," she began before a soft laugh escaped her mouth. "You've been coming over so often you might as well live here.
[break][break]
The simple teasing remark manifested a shade of embarrassed red onto Zeke's cheeks. Blood pooled into them, generating an uncomfortable warmth as the flustered dragon hastily glanced away. While his mother's comment was entirely innocent, the broad-shouldered man constantly wondered if she was secretly privy to his intense emotions towards Kiernan. There was plenty of teasing remarks hidden in her arsenal, yet, none outright implied the possibility of sparking an intimate relationship with his close friend.
[break][break]
Evidently, Fiona either failed to detect her son's flustered state or simply ignored it as she rinsed the final dish, carefully setting it onto the drying rack. There was a subtle clink as the porcelain plate softly collided with the other dishes evident on the rack. A lip-tight grin remained evident on his mother's face as her hands rubbed into the t-towel she held, thoroughly drying them after being submitted to the soapy depths. Once finished, the towel was casually hanged on a small hook inside one of the cupboards.
[break][break]
"Anyways, do you boys need breakfast before the parade? I can make you some if you want," Fiona offered while she closed the cupboard door.
[break][break]
Subtly, one of Zeke's brows lifted in thought, his mind immediately bringing his children to mind. Admittedly, the dragon believed his mother would wait until the kids roused from their slumber.
[break][break]
"Don't you want to wait until Emily and Lucas are awake?" He inquired softly.
[break][break]
"I can make you boys something small," she explained, maternal requirements shining.
[break][break]
The dragon's brown eyes flitted between his mother and Kiernan because of his lack of preference. There was plenty of time for himself and Kiernan to stop at a restaurant and order some breakfast or patiently wait for his mother to begin cooking. However, Zeke despised placing too much work on his mother's shoulders when he was capable.
[break][break]
"Well, Kier and I could go out and eat or I could make something. Don't you have a few things to do, mom?" Zeke casually answered.
[break][break]
A soft chuckle escaped the guardian's lips as her smile broadened. "You're going to be stubborn about this, aren't you?"
[break][break]
There was a soft, brief laugh which escaped the dragon's lips as he nodded in response. After witnessing the answer, his mother smiled, shaking her head before leaving the kitchen to proceed with morning chores. Once she left the room, Zeke's eyes briefly gazed over Kiernan, shortly retreating as bashfulness consumed him.
[break][break]
"Soooo... diner or cooking?" Zeke asked, a smile evident on his face.
[break][break]
Choice mattered little to Zeke, his happiness being secured because of Kiernan's presence. He loved the long-haired man, the positive influence he provided constantly soothing him; he would go anywhere with him so long as his children could join them.
Light filtered through the small gaps in the blinds, revealing lazily floating dust particulars swirling through the room. The cheerful chirps of birds breached through the walls, alerting the dragon inside about the recent arrival of morning. Blinks were slow, bleary from the sleep difficulties he was frequently required to handle. Nightmares kept the ice dragon from sleeping without an extensive list of worries flitting through his mind, causing a mild fright. Head against the soft pillows of his bed, the man merely breathes, slow, calming and required.
[break][break]
A peaceful atmosphere surrounded him, yet, it failed to cease the darkness encroaching on his mind, threatening to manifest a terrifying reaction should precautions be neglected. Slowly, his hands splayed against the mattress covered in a soft sheet, arms easing him into a sitting position. Motions were steady, the dragon maintaining a peaceful state of mind. Slowly, his brown eyes flitted to the window, peeking through the blinds from a distance. Movements were subtle, hardly noticeable because of the small gapes from the lowered blinds.
[break][break]
Gradually, he reaches a sitting position, breathing steady, each breath focused on, assuring tranquillity's calming embrace would arrive. Quietly, the dragon kept his sitting position, eyes staring down at the clothing he wore as sleepwear; a simple white tank top and his boxers. Breathe, each morning, slow, steady, calm yourself for the day. The words of advice provided by those who cared about him rang through the dragon's mind. Each morning, he performed the suggestions, using it to mentally prepare himself for the day.
[break][break]
Minutes of motionless breathing passed, the dragon slowly standing to gather his clothing from the nearby dresser. The weather was favourable today, weather reports stating it would be a beautiful summer day. Naturally, the dark-haired man chose clothing items best suited for the favourable weather. The folded articles of clothing were fetched, the dragon grabbing a tie-dyed shirt of varying colours and a pair of bootcut jeans. Smoothly, the tank top was pulled off his broad shoulders, the dragon casually throwing it onto his bed.
[break][break]
Beneath the white fabric which covered his torso was a variety of scars. Cursed weapons cutting through his skin, blood welling where lacerations were created. The abhorrent sensation of electricity rippling through his body, manifesting pain throughout him. Abruptly, the dragon's breathing quicken, however, he forcefully soothed each breath. After a few moments, he tugged on the tie-dyed shirt, the rainbow pattern being a suitable choice for the day's events. Carefully, he tugged up the pants, the man discovering a sensation of calmness from being unable to see a portion of the scars.
[break][break]
Since returning to Lorsette, Newfoundland, Zeke Durmont was an entirely different man after a traumatizing occurrence radically changed his personality. Courage disappeared, the dragon transforming into a timid shell of the incredible General Durmont who bravely assisted his troops in combat and saved citizens of Victoria, British Columbia. Once a hero transformed into a nobody unable to lift a sword against the forces of villainy. The experiences from his month of captivity from the Assembly of Phantoms left him broken, the haunting darkness known as PTSD maliciously lurking, waiting for its moment to strike.
[break][break]
Alas, things were gradually improving, the constant support from his family assisting in allowing Zeke to recover from the traumatic experience. While the darkness would always lurk within the pits of his mind, genuine efforts were being accomplished to improve the situation, although, a single person assisted Zeke immensely. Upon returning, the dragon began reconnecting with his childhood friend, the comfort of Kiernan's familiar face becoming a soothing sight for the former general. A majority of his spare time would be spent conversing with the kitsune, the exposure to his close friend improving his mood drastically.
[break][break]
A soft smile breached the dragon's face, today's plan gleefully filling his mind with better thoughts. The arrival of June heralded a parade in support of the infamous Pride Month. On this gorgeous summer day, he would gain the honour of spending the day with his beloved friend. Joy overwhelmed Zeke at the thought of spending his day with Kiernan, allowing for those dreadful thoughts of his experience in BC to briefly dissipate. For years, the pair were separated, but their recent re-connection began surfacing those intense emotions of affection towards the kitsune.
[break][break]
Inaudibly, the dragon sighed, praying he would eventually be capable of confessing his passionate affection to the attractive kitsune. Alas, thoughts of potentially beginning a relationship were halted by the hectic nature of Zeke's current life. Changes were constant, the former TRS hunter attempting to calmly transition his children into his parent's home. The recent death of Sophia resulted in Emily and Lucas being flown down to Lorsette to live with him, however, he oftentimes worried he would fail to provide the stability needed to raise his children.
[break][break]
Currently, the transition was proving to operate smoothly, Zeke remaining home whenever his children were. The expectations of a parent weighed heavily on the dragon's shoulders as he attempted to provide emotional support while struggling with his own feelings. Alas, life was required to proceed, Zeke finally gaining the nerve to leave his children in their grandparent's care, however, it took an extended period of time for the dragon's constant fretting to cease. Slowly, the former TRS agent reached for the door, exiting his bedroom.

The soft trickling of water from a sink reached his ears, the dark-haired man entering the kitchen shortly. Humming an old lullaby, his guardian mother, Fiona, lingered near the sink, cloth carefully washing dishes. The sounds of footsteps prompted her to glance over her shoulder, a broad smile touching her lips.
[break][break]
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" She inquired, voice soft and soothing.
[break][break]
"Eh, better than I have been," Zeke admitted in response. "Did you?"
[break][break]
Strength was provided to his mother's smile, the woman nodding in response. "I slept fine. You'll be spending the afternoon with Kier, right?"
[break][break]
A smile graced Zeke's lips as he nodded in response to his mother's inquiry. The gentle chime of Kier's text tone echoed through the kitchen, the dragon glancing briefly at the screen. Afterwards, the text was followed by the rhythmic knocking which heralded his friend's arrival. Wordlessly, Zeke reached for the doorknob, the cool handle a comfort for the ice dragon. The knob was twisted, the door quickly yanked open as excitement coursed through Zeke's veins. Upon opening the door, a broad smile stretched across the dark-haired man's lips.
[break][break]
"Good morning," he greeted, opening the door wider to invite his friend inside. "How did you sleep?"
[break][break]
The slightest hints of concern touched Zeke's voice when he inquired about Kiernan's sleep. His long-term crush was incredibly important in his life, the dragon always fretting over the long-haired man's safety. Their relationship involved an extremely tight bond, the childhood spent in innocent bliss manifesting a seemingly never-ending connection between them. Those feelings were immortal, the dark-haired man praying he would eventually be capable of confessing his deep emotions about Kier. Undoubtedly, Kier was Zeke's first love, those rumours from his high school days long becoming nonsensical words to the dragon's ears; he was foolish for believing them. Should Kier enter the house, Zeke would promptly close the door behind him to keep the cold air in.
Despite his physical appearance, Zeke is approximately 5’9”, making him a mere average in terms of height. Nonetheless, his well-toned physical appearance allows him to appear strong compared to most men. His shoulders are notable broad, displaying his rather muscular physique without much effort. Consistent exercise maintains these powerful muscles, the physical shape of his body being evidently cared for. His entire body is filled with muscles, even going lengths to give him abs. Noticeably, Zeke’s complexion is fair, however, covered with numerous, pinkish scars which maim his torso. There is a large variety of scars covering Zeke’s torso, some being inflicted by blades while others appeared to be darkened patches from previous burns. There are a few less significant scars on his arms and legs, but they can only be noticed up close. From his time as a General, he lost his right arm which is replaced with a specialized prosthetic which feeds off his magic. A majority of it is silver, but there are darker portions around the elbows and other joints; it starts just above his elbow. The arm itself has no special abilities, even going lengths to sense pain. Due to it feeding off Zeke’s magic energy, he can use his abilities with it, however, he tends to get drained quicker because of it. As a result, he must rest properly and assure his energy levels stay high to properly use the prosthetic, or else it may entirely cease function.
From a mere glance, people would notice the long scar which stretches across the bridge of Zeke’s nose, the edges just reaching the cheeks. Similar to a majority of his scars, this one takes on a pinkish complexion. His cheekbones are settled high on his face, leading down into a strong chin. He has a chiselled face, most finding his facial features to fall under the category of conventionally handsome. Brown is the colour of his eyes, their colour being rather dull compared to some shades out there. He constantly keeps his hair in a particular style, finding it favourable under most circumstances. The sides and lower back of his hair are kept short, the top is longer. These sections are his natural hair colour, which is a very dark brown, however, it can look black in certain lightings. A tuft in the front of Zeke’s hair is dyed white maintained under most circumstances to create the desired effect.
Clothing is best described as average for Zeke since he prefers not sticking out. He maintains a style which most people would expect. He wears solid-coloured shirts under most circumstances in a variety of colours. Blue jeans are a frequent choice, Zeke wearing several different shade variations to mix things up; usually, these are darker colours. Occasionally, he will wear sweaters, however, due to his breed of dragon, this is not common. If he wears a jacket, it is oftentimes merely because he found it comfy for the occasion. He rarely wears formal clothing and only will under circumstances of it being a special event.
Ice Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to manipulate ice, allowing the user to make, shape and control ice. The ice dragon blood which roams through Zeke’s veins is incredible and powerful. Similar to his father, Zeke is renown for his intense power in ice manipulation and was trained at a young day by his father. Plenty of work has been placed into Zeke’s ice manipulation, allowing him to accomplish many things. He is capable of mass scale manipulation, allowing him to defend himself and assist others with ease, however, these large manipulations can exhaust Zeke should it be used for extensive periods of time. Furthermore, fire can easily melt his constructs, making it difficult to fight this element of fire. When creating ice, Zeke’s right arm cannot manifest it inside his hand after losing it. The ability is not completely compatible with his ice manipulation.
Enhanced Strength -- Advanced The ability to access strength beyond the mundane human ability, giving the user plenty of power. As a dragon, Zeke is extremely strong, especially after years of exercise and training his enhanced strength. He is capable of moving heavy items with ease, oftentimes, accomplishing these tasks single-handedly. In combat, Zeke can damage people immensely because of his intense strength, the man being capable of throwing people far distances and breaking bones with frightening ease. He can even break through walls by using his extreme strength. Unfortunately, this comes with consequences based around Zeke’s muscles. Overuse can result in soreness or stiffness on occasion, resulting in Zeke potentially being bedridden if this reaches extreme levels. This can make Zeke vulnerable because of intense aches and stiffness he can receive from overuse. Under most circumstances, Zeke can use his enhanced strength for 1-2 hours before the soreness or stiffness could potentially settle on, although, this is in quick succession, if used sporadically, he would be fine.
Pain Suppression -- Mastered The ability to suppress the sensation of pain, allowing the user to endure more than the average person. From years of working as a TRS hunter, Zeke has trained his pain suppression to excellence. During his time being tortured, Zeke’s pain suppression oftentimes became the only way he could avoid sharing information. Nonetheless, Zeke still requires energy to fuel his suppression abilities, thus not receiving the proper diet or food at all can still wither the ability to nearly nothing. For hours, Zeke can suppress the pains he is feeling, allowing him to tough through situations and keep functioning through pains that would regularly be unbearable. The only downside is the lack of reception from suppressed pain nerves can result in Zeke pushing himself too far. In these moments, he could risk damaging the wounded area more.
Dragon Transformation -- Beginner The ability to transform into a dragon, however, once the user goes too far, there is no way back. When fully transformed, the user will become a feral beast who is unable to control themselves. Cautionary tales of full transformation haunted Zeke’s teenage years as his father insisted he needed to control the beast inside. There were plenty of frightening stories about those who drifted too far, thus Zeke avoids invoking this power despite the things it gives him. As a result, he is unable to summon his wings or gain extra strength due to his insistence against using it. Furthermore, he prefers having some definition of speed to assist him in scenarios where retreat is necessary. To counteract his ineptness in semi-transformation, Zeke has exercised plenty so his natural muscle can assist him in these situations. This being said, a larger dragon in semi-transformation can easy out-strength him.
Born in Lorsette to Isaac and Fiona Durmont, people expected big things from Zeke. Isaac Durmont was an elite TRS hunter, a powerful dragon who proved himself as worthy of his position. He fought for justice, believing the TRS to be the collect path to freedom. Protecting innocent civilians was Isaac’s goal, thus he worked extensively to keep the people of Lorsette. Meanwhile, his mother, who was a guardian born on Earth, worked in the cafeteria for the TRS, desiring to use her incredible cooking skills to support the TRS. They met through the TRS, becoming close from their mutual beliefs on the TRS was the correct path. Work brought them closer, and their shared beliefs assisted in assuring their relationship became strong. Furthermore, the pair were both Heaven species, allowing them to avoid scrutiny from their grandparents; they were always particular and held a deep disdain to Hell species. From the beginning, Zeke’s parents were extremely loving, the pair working hard to take care of their young son. They were a happy family, their infant child bringing them endless joy.
From a young age, Zeke was aware of the TRS, the abbreviation was a constant in the young boy’s life. Working for the organization searching for peace was considered a great honour in his family. Many family members of the Durmont family worked for the TRS, thus Zeke’s childhood was filled with stories of heroes associated family. There were plenty of familiar names and incredible stories which made Zeke’s eyes widen. Everything about the appraised organization was spectacular, the heroes his family became were mesmerizing. It seemed from an impressionable age, Zeke was already preparing himself to become a hero. The benevolent young boy wished to vanquish the dastardly Assembly; the people who brought misery into their world. His childhood vivid with imagination, Zeke placing himself in the boots of his family and pretending to be an incredible warrior.
Although, those thoughts and goals were temporarily distracted when his parents allowed him to meet their neighbour’s son, Kiernan. Offers of playtime a mere short walk away sounded incredible, thus Zeke would joyfully head over and play with Kiernan every day. They would play a variety of games, having plenty of fun being together. At times, Zeke could even be clingy to his friend and held the tendency to hug him tightly or hold his hand to lead him somewhere. There were moments where Zeke would request to lead Kier somewhere, however, it merely became a ruse to feel the warmth of their hands clasped together. Comfort was discovered in hand holding, the surreal sensation of closeness becoming a craving for the young child. Holding Kier’s hand felt special, bringing an endless calm to the youthful dragon, thus he attempted to gain those opportunities more.
Alas, there were moments where his parents closed the doors and cooped him up inside for hours, their hushed words explaining his grandparents were coming. Childhood comprehension always resulted in a cock of the head and young Zeke innocently inquiring about why they could not meet his best friend. His parents were always tight-lipped about it, refusing to leave him home alone with the grandparents from his father’s side. Concern evident on their faces, they never allowed Zeke and his grandparents to leave their sight. The young boy was unable to understand why his parents’ sight locked intensely on them during these moments, but guilelessness kept his inquiries silenced. Furthermore, the young child respected his parents greatly, providing another reason for him to avoid questioning them.
During a pleasant spring day, Zeke’s grandparents desired to take the young child for a walk down the street. Rarely would the young boy’s grandparents toured him around the streets. He remembered watching Kier approach, a broad smile gracing his lips as he patiently waited for his friend to grow close. There was a disgusted groan, a sneer breaching his grandparents face when they noticed his closest friend, a kitsune. The stupid hellspawn bastard thinks he holds the right to befriend Zeke. Immediately, the young dragon froze, his eyes flitting towards his grandparents with complete horror. How could somebody speak about Kier that rudely?! Without hesitation, his father scolded them while Zeke’s eyes filled with tears, hurt by the callous words used to describe his closest friend.
The young boy began crying, an upset rambling about Kier being his friend escaping his lips. Each derogatory comment towards Kier were needles stabbing into Zeke’s heart. Insistence about these horrible notions worsened the situation, the grandparents successfully upsetting the young boy. Quickly, his father acted, calming his son slightly before telling him to go play with Kier. A standoff would inevitably occur, Zeke unaware of his father’s desires to raise his son to have acceptance inside his heart. When his father and mother started dating, they together learned peace arrived with acceptance, thus they decided to teach their child these values. As they were shoved away to play, a teary-eyed Zeke grabbed Kier’s hand and whispered, requesting for them to remain nearby. The young boy wished to eavesdrop on the conversation despite his upset, his curiosities about what his father would do becoming greater than his sorrow about his grandparents’ words.
Nearby, they played hide and seek, Zeke pretending to search for Kier while he eavesdropped. The shouted words were impossible the block out, the inappropriate language his grandparents used to describe Kier bringing fresh tears to his eyes. Everything ended as his father screamed at them to pack their things and leave. The screams resulted in Zeke glancing over his shoulder at his enraged father, listening as his grandparents attempted to argue about having no place in Lorsette to go. Alas, Zeke’s father would hardly listen to their words as he repeated for them to leave his home. They stomped towards the home, and only when they entered the house, did his father turn around to notice Zeke staring at him. A frown breached his angered expression, concerns about the things he taught his son in that instant crossing his mind. The tear slicken face Zeke possessed compelled his father to come closer as he attempted to soothe his son. When his son ceased crying, his father called for Kier, working hard to get the young boy to leave his hiding place.
Eventually, both boys were in front of them, the father reaching around to hug both boys as he quietly apologized about what they heard. Afterwards, his father softly placed his hands on Kier’s shoulders, asking the young boy to sit beside Zeke and assist with soothing him. Kier persuaded him he was fine, that everything was okay and he could manage to assist in calming his son. When his father hurried towards the house, Zeke turned to his friend, staring at Kier because he knew his closest friend was lying. Quietly, the young dragon mumbled out the words, inching closer and wrapping his arms around Kier. He snuggled his best friend, remaining close while he waited for his father to handle his grandparents. Screams could be heard as the grandparents picked up the argument again, heading to the freshly called taxi, Zeke covering his Kier’s ears to protect him. He cared more about his closest friend opposed to himself.
Finally, they entered the taxi, Zeke’s grandparents finally being taken away. From around the fence, his father arrived, frowning at the boys. He drew both into another hug, thanking Kier for soothing Zeke as needed. Alas, they remained nearby as the father’s eyes flitted between the young boys, a soft sigh escaping his mouth. The man’s words escaped his lips slowly, Zeke’s father explaining that what his grandparents’ said was horrible and handling these situations with anger was not always the answer. The conversation was long, Zeke’s father assuring the two boys understood the situation. Anger was not always the answer and that their opinions of hell species were ignorant notions. Another apology escaped the man’s lips before he slowly grabbed Zeke’s hand and lead his young son home. Later, his mother returned home, the situation is explained and Zeke’s grandparents never returning to their home again. The relief was discovered in the notion of the grandparents from his father’s side never setting foot in their home.
As time proceeded, Zeke and Kier were secretly referred to as puppy lovers because of their affection towards one another. They were extremely close, remaining friends throughout the early years and easily into their teens. In hushed thoughts, nobody thought the pair would last as a couple despite their closeness; they believed fate led them down the path of friendship. As they developed as people, Zeke’s intense emotions towards Kier began transforming into an extreme crushing for his friend. Beautiful, incredible personality and plenty of common interests only increased Zeke’s attraction to Kier. The young dragon fell hard for his childhood friend, but there were sayings around their class at the time about the first relationship never lasting. Plenty of times, the painful notion ached Zeke’s heart as he refused to lose Kier as a friend. Those thoughts of asking and denial making everything awkward kept his voice silenced. He loved Kier but losing the man he cared about most entirely was not an option.
A majority of Zeke’s time was spent hanging around Kier, however, training on behalf of his father began around the age of 13. Constantly, the young dragon pleaded to be taught hunter skills, the stories from his childhood inspiring him down a different career path and his father finally decided it was time. Excitement filled Zeke when he discovered he could finally learn the abilities provided alongside the basics of terror hunter. Plenty of power was displayed when his father showed the capabilities of his powers, Zeke watching wide-eyed when his father accomplished these tasks. However, before they could proceed, he felt the weight of his father’s hands on his shoulders as he stared at his son. The young adolescent met the man’s gaze, these actions being marked up under as things his father did when stating something important. A soft sigh escaped his lips, Zeke remaining silent as he awaited the words of wisdom his father held about training.
Zeke… there is one important thing you need to remember as a dragon… You have an edge you can never cross, or else you will lose control. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are, anybody could lose control. As you transform more into the mighty beast, the more powerful your abilities may become, but the more its feral nature may stir inside you. Even invoking it slightly could yield you the power you’re looking for, but you must never cross that fine line between human and monster… If you do… You will be putting lives at risk since removing a fully transformed dragon is difficult… and they may… have to…
Seriousness was evident, the young boy freezing when he noticed the traces of tears evident in his father’s eyes. The innocent question of dad… why are you crying? escaped Zeke’s mouth, but there was no answer. Arms promptly wrapped tightly around him, his father embracing him tightly. For a brief moment, Zeke silently listened to the weeping of his father, uncertain of how he could make his father feel better. The embrace was soon reciprocated, the young boy murmuring to his father, I promise I won’t cross the edge dad… Not if it’s going to make you and mom cry… A soft squeeze around his shoulders made it evident his father appreciated hearing those words from his young son. Alas, the entire situation frightened the young teen, and instead, he vowed to never invoke his dragon side. There would be no opportunities to fly or lizard-like eyes marking his face during the training. The furthest the young boy went was allowing his dragon-like tongue to manifest for the purpose of tasting magic in the air.
The rigorous training allowed Zeke to grow muscular and athletic at a young age. There were people who swooned over his attractive form as the adolescent grew stronger. He gained an excellent comprehension of his abilities, suggesting he would become an excellent hunter. As his body became stronger, the young man would do subtle movements in hopes of gaining Kier’s attention. He feared things not working out properly, but deep down he desired to date, Kier. Alas, Zeke remained silenced, praying his beloved crush would ask him out; the rumours sent him spiralling into fears of completely losing his friend. At times, the young man used training as a distraction from his feels, but they always boiled to the surface. The hugging proceeded, even hand-holding when in private situations; he wanted nobody to discover his intense crush on Kier. Yet, the longer he secretly harboured those emotions of affection, the more they grew.
As they grew older, the news of Kier’s parents dying was heartbreaking. While Zeke was not overly close to Kier’s parents, he felt horrible for his crush. Constantly, Zeke provided hugs and words of comfort to his precious friend, even going lengths to affectionately snuggle him in a desperate to sooth his beloved friend. There was endless uncertainty about how Kier was feeling, but the young ice dragon was determined to maintain his friend’s happiness the best he could. Calmly, Zeke would attempt to cheer his crush up, especially since knowing horrible things happened to his beloved friend was a heartbreaking experience. When the funeral arrived, Zeke attended to support Kier, remaining near his crush to support him. The young man could only imagine the abhorrent reality of losing one’s parents. Comfort would be provided whenever Zeke could manage. While the roots of his affection may have been noticed by some, he preferred to maintain Kier’s happiness than worry about the opinions of others.
Graduation slowly ticked closer, Zeke eventually being sat down by his father who held important news. Many years ago, his father had lived in Victoria, British Columbia and held news of the pay for TRS hunters becoming higher after several events which recently lowered the count. There were plenty of sponsored apprentice opportunities, and his father believed he could successfully pull several jobs to allow Zeke a sponsored entrance. Certainty enveloped his father’s voice alongside pride, the man knowing the training he accomplished with his son would make him an excellent candidate. There were mixed feelings about the notion of leaving Lorsette, however, Zeke’s father persuaded him to be selfish and at least apply. The application was submitting and within a few weeks, the dragon was oddly disheartened to know he successfully got in, which meant leaving Kier.
For weeks, Zeke displayed the symptoms of something constantly being on his mind, the young man being rather distracted throughout the days. Naturally, his close friend managed to notice his distraction one day while they were spending time together. A soft sigh escaped his lips as Zeke slowly explained that he would be moving to BC in a few months and was merely waiting for the housing arrangements to be completed. The congratulations he received resulted in a smiling facade crossing the dragon’s lips. Only a few more months with his long-term crush… it was a heartbreaking thought for him. Alas, all Zeke could do was smile as the months proceeded, his feigned happiness supporting him into the decision. His parents were immensely proud of him, already purchasing items Zeke could take for the move. The opportunity would provide Zeke with the career path he always dreamed of, and sometimes, people needed to be selfish... right? Due to those rumours of first relationships never working out, Zeke genuinely believed he never stood a chance of holding a long-standing relationship with Kier.
Eventually, the day arrived to board the plane and be taken to Victoria, BC. Everything was properly in order, his future career inspiring intense pride in his parents. He remembered embracing both his parents and saying goodbye before finally turning to his crush. Inside, everything was hurting as he approached Kier and wrapped his arms tight around him. Similar to his parents, he promised to message when he could, but Zeke provided an extra squeeze. The emotions in his body were screaming at him to stay, however, he believed his path was officially set in stone. When he pulled away from the embrace, he stared at Kier for a long time, eyes flitting between his and awkwardly passing by those beautiful lips. He desired to gain the courage to kiss him and plead for Kier to follow him to British Columbia, but before he could move, the sounds of the speakers filled his ears and demanded him to head to his flight.
Slowly, he released his crush, a sorrowful sheen breaching his eyes as he said farewell and promised to keep in contact. Afterwards, he turned and headed towards where he would board the plane. Once aboard, his fate was sealed, the young man gazing out the window, resisting the tears which wished to form in his eyes. When the long flight passed, Zeke landed in Victoria, BC and was an escorted to the provided dorms for recently flown over apprentices. Immediately, he was placed into the program, the studies being rigorous as the young man was quickly provided with a mentor. Throughout the months, he worked hard to become a successful hunter, the previous instruction given by his father proving to be useful at every turn. The training program officials were impressed by his progress alongside a few others who probably trained their lives for this opportunity. Yet, as time passed, Zeke found himself missing Kier immensely, but eventually, he had to discover a way to move on, thus, he went on a few dates when offered. Nobody seemed to compare to Kier, which made it impossible for Zeke to move on from his beloved friend he left in Lorsette.
Months passed, Zeke successfully graduating from the TRS apprenticeship program and becoming a full-fledged hunter. Only a mere 3 years of work with the TRS allowed Zeke to become an elite hunter because of his capability and bravery in combat situations. Pride was evident around his family, the young man remembering the days he returned home to visit. His parents displayed endless joy about their son’s accomplishments and finally, he gained those few weeks to spend time with Kier. Unfortunately, the distance became a new silencer for Zeke because he feared if his crush returned his feelings, he would make him unhappy with a long-distance relationship. Thus, Zeke kept searching for a potential date as he slowly continued to climb the career ladder due to his level-headedness in these panicked situations. Around when he became the sergeant of the TRS in Victoria, BC, he met a woman name, Sophia Lockwood.
He was about 28 when they began dating, the pair found it easy to get rather close, however, Zeke oftentimes found his thoughts on Kier. As they became closer, the dragon never mentioned his intense feelings for the incredible man; for his first love. Months of wonderful bliss allowed others to believe their relationship was excellent and for the time being, it was. During their dating phase, the pair had recklessly gotten drunk and returned home for some intimate fun. Weeks of sudden morning sickness and various other traits resulted in the pair discovering they could potentially be pregnant, however, it was confirmed with a pregnancy test and missed periods. The young sergeant was shocked, yet, overzealous considering he always wanted children. Not long after the discovery, Sophia and Zeke moved in together with plans of raising their child together. Only, living together proved to be rough on the pair, but they were determined to make it work; they needed to for their future daughter.
Eventually, Sophia gave birth to Emily, their first child which overjoyed the young dragon to see their precious bundle of joy. They were happy together with Emily, however, the stresses of raising an infant only resulted in strains on their relationship. Throughout the first years, they became determined to make their relationship work, the pair working hard to plan how everything would go. Unfortunately, things only became worse as the pair struggled to work out their issues. In desperation, they decided to have another child when Emily became 2 in hopes they could manage and remain together for their children. However, there was a notable lack of intimate love between the pair, a majority of people noticing how they acted more like friends opposed to a couple. Once again, Sophia became pregnant, Zeke remaining by her side to help her through these rough times. As time proceeded, the pair would occasionally get into arguments, nothing extremely heated, but small disputes where neither would yield.
Through Sophia’s pregnancy with their son, Zeke found himself messaging Kier because of his struggles. Speaking with Kier brought overwhelming positive emotions, even when the discussions were serious and related to Zeke’s current relationship. As months passed, their son’s due date arrived and he was born, the pair naming the young boy Lucas. Unfortunately, the relationship only got more unstable as Zeke was promoted to lieutenant and taking care of two children. Months after Lucas was born, the pair began bickering more, Zeke soon realizing the effects it could potentially have on their children should they be raised in this fighting. One evening after putting Emily and Lucas to bed, Zeke approached his girlfriend and requested they sit and talked in private. The pair talked out the whole situation, both arriving at the conclusion that their relationship was never going to work out. The pair broke up, soon sleeping in separate rooms while Zeke searched for a new place to live; he was 32 at the time.
After deciding to separate, the pair made certain Emily and Lucas would understand it was not their fault for their decision to break up. The pair were civil about their decision to separate, deciding to hold joint-custody of the children. Both Sophia and Zeke valued their children having both parents in their lives, and thus cooperated in warranting one another to visit and raise their children. The pair remained close friends, allowing everything to operate smoothly between one another. Shortly after their separation, Zeke explained what happened to his parents who were disappointed, but believed the pair made a mature decision. There were apologies for what happened, however, Zeke acted laid-back about what happened. It was a probable outcome considering their recklessness in their relationship. Soon, Zeke’s messages to Kier increased, the dragon finding extreme comfort in speaking to his close friend. He supposed deep down, his heart still belonged to his first love, yet, he remained silent on his emotions.
Time proceeded to move, Zeke and Sophia raising their children, but as separate parents. Each week, with some exceptions, the children would rotate houses. Both worked hard to provide for their children, love being evident in the family once Zeke and Sophia separated. There were several instances where Zeke would photograph his children having fun or posing to send to his parents and Kier. The young man worked extensively to create a stable household for his children, happiness becoming available daily as Zeke watched Emily and Lucas grow up. He refused to miss events which would occur in honour of his children and always assured to have holidays planned where both his ex-girlfriend and himself could attend. There were no doubts about how deeply Zeke’s affection towards his children was since the man found himself overzealous about every aspect of being a father. Whenever he was not spending time with his children, Zeke would be working or finding himself texting Kier or his parents.
At the age of 40, Zeke was given a great honour by the TRS and promoted to General. His parents her overzealous, even travelling down to celebrate with their son on the recent change. The opportunity was also used to spend time with their grandchildren while their son adjusted to his newest position in the TRS. Everybody seemed happy for him, the dragon believing his life was absolute perfection. For 5 years, everything was absolute bliss for Zeke as he spent time with his children and regained his closeness to Kier through long-distance communications, however, everything would change. When a horde arrived in Victoria, BC, the dragon General sent out his forces and arrived to assist the situation. Things were going horribly as back up was called, the encounter proving to be more dangerous than expected. Black dust was thick in the air alongside blood, the TRS doing their best to defend Victoria from the terror threat, but there were not enough hunters.
There were constant requests for back up to hurry, Zeke attempting to organize his hunters suitably to assure they could outlast, but eventually, the unexpected and overwhelming presence of Assembly forces kept breaking through. Their forces were withering, the General fighting with his hunters in a desperate attempt for victory, but they failed. People were dying, Zeke feeling helpless in the situation as more seemed to replace the ones he cut down. He thought he perished a warrior’s death, but 3 red stars located on the left side of his chest marked him out from the rest. Eventually, something smacked hard into the back of his head, the dragon’s vision going blurry after an extensive amount of time-fighting. He was certain he would meet Thanatos on the other side, but he was proven wrong.
In recent news, many TRS hunters were lost after they fought desperately to keep the citizens from Victoria safe from a horde in the western area of the city. When reinforcements arrived on scene, many were deceased with few survivors being found in the chaos. The horde was eventually pushed back, however, many are severely wounded and several people are missing, including General Zeke Durmont who was on scene during the incident. There have been reports of somebody allegedly carrying a man who looked similar to the missing General, but these reports have not been confirmed.
Damp, dark and cold, the room Zeke awoke it was a complete mystery from the lack of lighting. The man felt battered from the recent struggle against TRS forces, several bruises and cuts still evident on his body. Above his head, his hands were bound to a sturdy, stone wall as his knees uncomfortably stationed themselves on the hard, stone floor. Exhaustion kept his eyes bleary, the sharp hit from earlier making it difficult for Zeke to regain consciousness and focus. As time proceeded, he eventually found his eyes opening as they wildly flitted around, the General struggling against the restraints. Freedom felt impossible, the restraints seeming to zap away his energy, leaving Zeke in a panting fit. There will be no freedom for you, General Durmont… Those restraints are especially cursed to make it impossible for you to use your ice manipulation or strength. From the darkness a voice spoke, Zeke’s eyes glancing around as he shouted at the person to reveal himself. A woman draped in black robes entered the small pool of light, the General not realizing how much he needed to fear this individual.
Shortly after regaining consciousness, it began the horror show which could haunt him for the rest of his life. The Assembly of Phantoms desired information about the TRS and their plans from the General himself. Brutally, they would torture Zeke every day over the course of months. Electrocution was a common tool, the dragon screaming as extreme voltages of electricity entered his body. He would wriggle, attempting to gain freedom or solace, but he quickly learned how helpless he was. They would give small doses of poison, allowing the abhorrent effects to torture his body inside and out, only ceasing when they feared the General would die before they could gather their information. Sharp knives were drawn across his skin, occasionally stabbing him and twisting only to heal those wounds afterwards. They did everything they could to inflict physical, mental and emotional pain onto Zeke in those months, however, the General refused to provide them with the information they desired.
Their desperation grew as people worked harder to find Zeke, their beliefs being the General was potentially still alive. Thus, they strapped General Durmont, weakness becoming evident from lack of proper nutrition. Once they strapped him down, they amputated his right arm while Zeke was still alive. Despite his pleas to cease the pain, they merely continued until only his left remained. Afterwards, they strapped him back to the board, several rounds of electrocution occurring as they demanding information. Each time, they were denied, Zeke knowing the safety of Victoria alongside his children weighed heavily on his shoulders. The shocking proceeded, only subsiding when they heard an explosion in the facility, somebody shouting about TRS entering the area. Instantly, their interrogation methods became more deadly as Assembly forces attempted to fight off the hunters. Cursed weaponry was used in an attempt to torture Zeke into providing them with the information, the General screaming as time went on. Numerous cuts were evident on his body, but before the torturer could finally kill the man for protecting the people he cared about, someone slammed into him. At the time, Zeke hardly comprehended what was happening, his mind swimming in and out of consciousness from the intense pain and blood loss.
Finally, the TRS forces arrived, deciding to rescue Zeke Durmont when they discovered he was inside the Assembly hideout. They worked hastily, a quick survey of Zeke’s condition making it evident he was not doing well both because of his injuries and lack of nutrition. Quickly, they prepared to transfer him to an ambulance, a skillful blood manipulator working hard to keep Zeke’s circulatory system under control.
According to TRS forces, General Zeke Durmont was finally found after a unit successfully raided an allege Assembly hideout. The General was transferred to hospital after the hunters discovered him severely injured. Reports say he suffered several injuries from cursed weapons, electrical shocks and had an arm amputated by the Assembly. He is currently recovering in a Victoria hospital with many praying he will recover from the traumatic incident.
For days, Zeke laid unconscious in a hospital bed while medical professions worked extensively to keep him in a stabilized condition. There was uncertainty on whether or not Zeke would survive the tragic incident, most stating he was fortunate to arrive at the hospital. His parents were called and informed their son was alive, however, was still unconscious and in severe condition. Immediately, they flew back down to Victoria to stay near their son, praying to Akari that he would survive the horrific encounter. Witnessing the once lively young man motionless in bed, a life support system was the only thing allowing him to survive was difficult on the entire family. His parents were upset, holding his hand and crying when they thought of the details of the horrific trauma their son endured. When possible, Sophia would bring their children to visit their father, the woman worrying she would be forced to bear grim news. Fortunately, things began improving as Zeke’s condition became better over time.
Eventually, the man awoke to the pale walls of the hospital, the sensation of his mother squeezing his hand is the first thing he remembered. There were the subtle sounds of weeping as people worried about him before rejoice filled the room as they realized Zeke was awake. Slowly, he was eased off life support when they realized he was plenty capable of breathing and surviving without the addition. The family were escorted from the room as they attempted to gain more information for treatment purposes, the nurses starting with simple questions about his name and information related to his life. What happened to you after you were captured by Assembly forces? The question hit Zeke like a train, the man suddenly panicking as he began having a severe anxiety attack from merely hearing the question. The nurses lunged into action, soothing him and instructing him on how to breathe properly. The questions were concluded for the time being.
Recovery started slowly, but the symptoms of Zeke’s trauma resulted in him being honourably discharged from the TRS only a few months afterwards. The man changed drastically, becoming unstable and sensitive to anything which reminded him of his torture. He was provided therapy and assistance in paying medical bills courtesy of the TRS because of his extensive work as a General. After a while, Zeke found himself struggling to maintain a job, going lengths to call his parents one late night and asking if he could move back home. The decision was difficult, Zeke knowing he would miss his children, but his lack of stability would be a horrible impact on them. Items were packed shortly afterwards, the dragon sitting down with his children and explaining he needed to leave for home. The situation was explained slowly, albeit, vaguely as Zeke did his best to inform his children there were no other options for himself. He assured them he still loved both Emily and Lucas very much. He promised to call them every single night and to try and return during holidays and birthdays to see his children.
Afterwards, he boarded the plane and returned to Lorsette, Newfoundland. Not long after his return to Lorsette, Zeke discovered the name of the darkness lurking inside his mind, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It was onset from the cruel torture the dragon underwent during his time spent under Assembly custody. Thus the most difficult battle Zeke would face entered his world. The man struggled to live a normal life, his severe anxieties about what happened to him resulting in life becoming difficult, but an angel found him. Through the darkness, a familiar face returned to provide him with endless comfort, Kiernan. The man he loved through the years, yet, could never confess his feelings too. Without hesitation, Zeke was provided with the support he needed, Kier becoming his solace and comfort as he struggled to pull his life back together. Those feelings of affection he harboured were rekindled, Zeke wondering if they ever died when he lived in BC. Their closeness was regained, the former General finding it easier to cope with the symptoms as he was treated for the disorder and given support by his family and Kier. He slowly began exercising again, albeit, with somebody in the room because of the severity of his condition.
Unfortunately, recent developments would prove to throw a wrench in Zeke’s progress when Sophia’s parents call and explain through gasping tears their daughter passed away. Frantic and upset with the news, the former General was quickly making arrangements. With his children motherless and Sophia’s parents unable to provide the financial support, Zeke was given full custody, the children planning to be flown down as soon as possible.
