Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
“It’s a precaution. Hanzo has barged in on us once before,” Josuah explained and the tension within Brendon visibly expelled. His shoulders fell and he drew in a quelling breath, his cheeks still a little puffy from his momentary rebellion. Like a kid, he crawled onto the couch, looking over the back of it with his arms draped across the back, bottom lip pouting as he stared down at him. “We still need to discuss what we want to do.” Josuah added and stood to his full height, and Brendon felt… a moment of happiness knowing that he was still himself.
“I told you… that I’m fine with your idea because I know it’s important.” He couldn’t stop pouting. “And you’re right, and it’s better, even if I don’t like it.”
His gaze lowered along with his ears atop his head. “It’s better for Josuah to remain hidden and… and… you to be… a new bodyguard.” He suddenly frowned with the realization that Hanzo would never let that happen. His brows furrowed and knitted together. “I don’t know how Hanzo would ever be okay with that, though. Especially if it was because Josuah ordered me another bodyguard, he would want to stick around like a hawk.”

Josuah retrieved the radio and handed it to him. Five minutes went by way too fast but he didn’t feel like Hanzo would accept things being pushed to ten minutes so quickly. And he shouldn’t have trusted things either, but he couldn’t deny the fact that he did. He really trusted Josuah… f-for some reason. And the two of them were even… sharing these kinds of moments! He wasn’t like his parental guardian at all… The thought made him blush deeply.
“Everything is still good over here, Hanzo.” He radio’d in. “8:55 next.”
“Copy.”
However, when he looked back over to Josuah, it was to find him crouched down and re-drawing his hex! “What!” Brendon raged, face pink for a completely different reason now. “I didn’t give you energy to put THAT back on! You’re not allowed!”

The distance he had already put between them apparently wasn’t enough for Josuah, as he ventured further away until he had put a couch between them. Brendon felt frustrated but also a bit weak, and still loopy, so he… didn’t feel like moving too much. Instead, he just frowned at him. “I thank you… for what you gave.” Josuah replied, and Brendon’s pout grew more prominent.
“You were the one who pulled away,” He complained, arguing against the way Josuah had made it sound as though he’d chosen when enough had been enough. “You didn’t get hardly anything at all!” He accused, going redder in the face, but it was true that he… couldn’t take it. He felt pretty exhausted from the amount he had already taken.
A-And Hanzo was calling over the radio again…!

“That’s right…” Brendon’s ears flickered as they heard the soft huskiness of his voice. The tension within him seemed to lessen and he turned more fully toward him. There was desire for what he was offering in his eyes. “Only yours will do…”
Brendon blushed and felt his heart thump the moment he spied Josuah leaning down. His heart sped off into a racing beat, and embarrassment bombarded him quickly, causing him to close his eyes tight. He didn’t know what it was going to be like but he could feel the anticipation inside of him.
And then he felt the soft warmth of Josuah's cheek as he nuzzled the side of his face against his neck. Brendon's embarrassment seemed to triple in strength.
He could feel the abrupt surge of energy that pooled from his being and into Josuah’s, causing the other male to gasp softly and then encircle his arms around him, pulling his body into a tight and unyielding embrace. “J-Josuah,” Brendon mumbled in embarrassment, his cheeks on fire. Tentatively he reached out to lightly hold him back, his eyes still closed tight. His essence was being drawn out of his body and into Josuah's. He shuddered on a breath as the feeling of their transfer turned from warmth to something more… intimate.
He couldn't grasp the meaning behind the shift, but Josuah took it poorly and abruptly drew back, breaking all contact with him. He looked frazzled, his breathing shallow. “I’m sorry.”
Brendon felt frazzled himself, and his cheeks were certainly on fire. “Y-You don’t need to apologize…,” He pouted a little. “I… think it went rather well. See, you didn’t have anything to be scared of.” He did feel a bit… loopy, a little bit lost for energy, but he was still standing and functional.

His touch immobilized the other male, causing him to visibly grow tense. His enhanced hearing easily took in the sounds of his hitched breathing and he could feel the way he trembled underneath the grip of his hands. It seemed to take him a great deal of effort, but he managed to drag his gaze to him, and there was pain and fear reflected within his emerald hues. “...I’m afraid of hurting you.”
“Just take a little… at a time.” Brendon implored in return, his hand remaining stubbornly against his arm. “You will only have my energy and that’s why you’re so weak, right? You need it...”

He shuddered with desire and need and Brendon felt his heart go out to him. He felt as though he had been… blind to his struggles. Blinded by what had been going on and his awful disguise. But, at the same time he felt nervous… nervous to be giving himself and allowing a stranger, essentially, to feed from him.
But Josuah surprised him when he abruptly stood from the chair, and when he started to try and step away, Brendon reached out, grasping onto him. “You have to feed from me, Josuah.” He insisted with his own need, and pounding heart.

When he stopped in front of Josuah he could immediately feel the way he greedily began to drink from the necklace, taking and consuming his essence from within it. His posture grew rigid at his nearness and all of a sudden he was telling him in an urgent manner, “I… I’m a Procubi. My species is supposed to feed on others to live…”
Brendon’s eyes widened and his words seemed to directly affect his heart. He could see the way he was clutching at his necklace, and he could see the hunger in his eyes now as they reflected the image of him within his irises. He hadn’t… gotten the necklace himself and neither had he chosen him to be the one he took from.
The necklace had found him, and Josuah had thought… had thought that he had purposely given it to him, since it was overflowing with his essence and gifting him his energy. He could feel the tint of heat accumulating in his cheeks, as it made him flustered, but he understood too… that the situation was more grave than that.
He was really hungry, a lot more than he could have possibly known. “I want you to take my energy.” He told him, his heart thumping. He… wasn’t sure how he had gotten to where he was now, but Brendon was starting to wonder if he had gotten himself the position of his guardian because of his need for him.

“This necklace belongs to you…” Josuah withdrew the beautiful artifact from where he kept it hidden underneath his clothes, and the sight of it sent a shiver rolling down his petite body. Goosebumps rose as well as a… flustered sort of feeling. However, he was shocked away from the sensations the necklace brought him when he heard Josuah’s accusation against him; “But you never gave it to me, did you…?”
Brendon started toward him, despite being able to already see the necklace in vivid clarity.

Brendon’s gaze returned to Josuah when he asked about his mother and whether or not she had mentioned him. His frown remained, his eyes dipping over his heavily clothed form and noticing the way he had chosen to sit at a single chair, at a single desk, rather than the seating area nearby with larger couches. “I didn’t see my mom very much. She was gone pretty much… all the time. I was closer to my father. But no… no one mentioned you at all…”

“If I had the power… I would take you away from all of this.” Josuah’s words pierced at Brendon’s heart, immediately causing his eyes to mist over with tears. He started forward, feeling a desperation to have that. He wanted him to take him away. He wanted to get away from all of this. He didn’t want to be here anymore. But he grew startled when Hanzo’s voice rang over the radio, calling out his name.
A fretful look toward the clock hanging on the wall told him right away that it was 8:45. He had to backtrack and pick up the radio, pressing the button to relay a message in return. “Everything is okay on this end.”
“8:50.”
Brendon scowled a little at the radio, finding his necessity to check in every five minutes to be annoying. But, he placed it back down and drew his gaze back to Josuah.

“I know.” From the longing that Brendon could see in Josuah’s eyes, he felt that it was something he wanted as well. The mutual connection of shared interests… f-for something rather personal and intimate caused Brendon to become flustered and embarrassed. H-He didn’t understand why either of them felt… any of these things! Why was he okay with him being his new guardian!? All because he had blond hair and green eyes! It was… was stupid!
“It’ll be safer for us both if we aren’t together, but I’ll do it if it’s what you really want.” Josuah… conceded, to which Brendon… pouted. He really didn’t want to ever have to see that disguise ever again… He hated it. But, he knew that what Josuah was pointing out was true. After all, someone in the family was trying to get rid of them so they could take over everything.
“No, I know… It’s… better to be safer.” His gaze lowered toward the carpeted flooring, his frown heavy and shoulders slouched. “But how will we ever even be safe. My parents were…,” His expression scrunched with the uncertainty, fear, and sadness he felt. “They were murdered and they even had a bunch of bodyguards protecting them.”

Josuah moved through the threading room and sat at a lone chair before a reading desk. “...The disguise will help us.” Brendon’s eyes widened, tears suddenly burning them while his ears twitched and he was finally filled with his true voice. It clenched at his heart, squeezing around it powerfully, and built upon the frustration already coiled so tight. “I’ll adopt an alias in my real form and be by your side always… that way no one knows it’s my life they should be targeting. While Josuah Ardel remains locked away… untouchable.”
“But you are Josuah Ardel. You’re the real one,” Brendon argued with emotion misting his eyes and making his face red as he tried to hold back his frustrated tears. He understood the meaning behind what he was saying, but he was being stubborn. He felt so frustrated and deprived and now he was telling him he was going to make the Imposter Josuah and him the Imposter.

Brendon’s breath caught in his throat, his words falling away, when Josuah immediately broke the disguise. The red hex shattered underneath him, his disguise as well, and through the hood and mask he could see the piercing emerald of his eyes staring out at him.
And Brendon… blushed. His heart thumped a little, feeling the intensity of it, as though he’d been doing it for him, a-as though he’d been a little desperate for it himself. It caused embarrassment to bombard him, made his stomach flutter, and his cheeks warm.
As Josuah began to take off his hood, hat, and mask one by one, Brendon felt the antsiness inside of him grow. He shuddered on a breath and fidgeted with his fingers, heart beating quicker and quicker.
“Why do you wear a disguise?” Brendon demanded a moment later, with pent-up frustration. “I don’t want you to! You’re my guardian now and so you have to be yourself!”

Brendon secured the first available room that he knew would be empty. It so happened to be a reading room with one entrance and exit, where he could hang a Do Not Disturb sign outside of the door to ward off any unwanted staff from entering. Brendon ushered Josuah inside, hanging the sign onto the doorknob afterward, and then promptly shutting and locking the door.
He set the radio down on a nearby table and then faced the other male, hands going on his hips and gaze narrowing with determination. “No more disguise.” He told him in a low and set voice, knowing that he’d been obviously keeping it a secret so he couldn’t be loud about it.

Brendon’s gaze drew downward and toward the other male’s phone when he drew it from his coat. He assumed he had intended to write him another message however they were interrupted by first his phone going off and by second; Hanzo’s return. “Will you call in every five minutes so I may ensure your safety?” His bodyguard requested as he handed him the radio, and Brendon graciously nodded his acceptance of the proposal.
“I promise. And if I don’t radio in, you can come and get me.” He told Hanzo confidently. Hanzo wasn’t as appeased as the young master, but he gave a subtle nod of his head nonetheless, eying Josuah with disapproval, before he turned to head off.
Brendon immediately grew excited and quickly started forward, up the stairs, and into the grand entrance hall. “This way,” He instructed, continuing forward and up the large curved and carpeted staircase that led to the second floor. Over his radio, which he held gripped in one hand, Hanzo’s voice intoned; “Update request at 8:45.”
