Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The second child of a negligent mother, Greta was practically raised by her brother Fuji Tashiro who had very few ideas on how to parent his own sister at his own young age. Greta grew up only listening and responding to her brother and seeing him more as an adult figure than anybody else in her life, who she struggled to take seriously. Ever since she was young, she'd had issues being able to fully comprehend or get schoolwork, and at one stage went through tutors like her mum goes though nightclubs.
As she grew up, she longed for independance after realising her brother was babying her and moved in with her dad, her lives in a caravan park. It was a struggle to try learn things she'd always relied on her brother for, and for over a year he came over to help without her asking. He left as soon as he graduated highschool without so much of a word to his family, and Greta came to realise how much her brother impacted her life a bit too late.
Since then, she's worked to try change her image as the slacker girl caught in her brothers shadow, working up to find a place in the student council to try get the help she needs and become close to the people in thre hopefully enough to get free tutoring and guidence, and though its hard work, she's willing to do whatever-
And maybe, just maybe, her brother will notice her accomplishments and come home and see how much better off she is without him!
Possible Plots new ideas welcome to be debated!
Being a student, Greta goes to Lorsette High School and is in the student council! She's somewhat known for being average to below average on her best days and being far too loud when around her friends. She's joined the council to try know more people while doing something shes fmailiar with. You could maybe know her from being a friend, either a childhood friend or a more recent friend that she met in class, or perhaps through detention for failing a test or a study session she ended up sleeping through. Or maybe you've just seen her face around and hold some sort of opinion about her! Perhaps a teacher assigned somebody to help her with her studies, or she was laughing so loud that you could hardly think straight, or... maybe she stumbled upon your part time job after school? Or spammed your phone demanding your attention because she found a cute cat video online.
Either way, the possibilities are endless with Greta! Feel free to plot away!
Being a usagi, Greta's most noticeable and prominant features are the two large ears on her head, sprouting upwards and being about the same size as her forearm, the two ears are covered in soft fur that matches the colour of Greta's hair. Her hair is chocolate brown in colour, and falls to just above her thighs, very often it gets tangled and messy but don't worry, Greta always has detangling spray on hand for a quick getaway!
Great stands at 5'2" and weights 54kg, with a slightly hourglass figure. She absolutely adores modern fashion trends and can most often than not find her in oversized instagram coats and trying out all sorts of accesories that she found online to try bring better attention to herself.
You know what sucked? Mothers who really shouldn't be mothers.
Greta has always felt second best, both in terms of life and in comparison to her step-brother. Born second, to Mina Tashiro's on and off again sleazebag boyfriend Sam, she struggled to find her place in the family. As a small toddler her mothers attentions would often be off trying to keep her boyfriend from leaving again, which left Greta to be taken care of by her slightly older step-brother, Fuji Tashiro.
Greta can't be certain what went through Fuji's mind, perhaps it was the sudden stress of being forced to raise somebody he was hardly attatched to, or the sibling annoyance that comes with a new member of the family, but he spent very little time actually caring for her. More often than not Greta was given a tablet to play away on or sat infront of the TV while he went onwards to play with friends, and Mina was oblivious.
As she got older, Greta grew easily bored of the screens she was forced with, her attention belonging to her older brother, who she'd cry at until she got her way. Days were spent following him around the neighbourhood, watching him play in the streets with his friends while she sat on the sidewalk, grin permanantly etched on her features as she admired Fuji and how good he was at things.
He perhaps saw this as an opportunity. Infront of Mina, Fuji and Greta were the perfect siblings, however as soon as she left Fuji would spend his time bossing Greta around, having her pick up after him and build him huge lego mansions and castles, and then promptly knock them down because they were never good enough for his figurine to live in.
Greta didn't know any better, and would blindly do what he said, just to impress him. he was her big brother, after all! This, though, once resulted in an unfortunate visit to the hospital when a piece of lego, during one such building session, got lodged in Greta's ear. Her hearing in her left ear has never quite been right since, but it's super fine!
Going into school, Greta struggled properly understanding a lot of the basic information taught to her, and with her mother gone so often at her boyfriends house Greta had to rely on her brother for help, however as he grew older he found the young girls presence more and more of a hinderance, and simply told her he could do his work himself, so she had to do the same.
Of course, when Mina finally turned up to a teachers interview and learned about Greta's grades, and about Fuji not being able to teach her, the young girl was given a tutor. And this, is perhaps, when things get fun.
Greta viewed these tutors like they were parents, and would spend time asking them questions about their own lives rather than focus on her own work. She wouldn't take instructions from anybody but her brother, who often was called in the middle of gaming or talking to friends to tell his sister to do what the tutor said- and every time without fail she'd beam at him and try her best!
Four tutors got tired of it and quit, while one was fired for yelling at her for not paying attention. Mina was beyond frustrated, and eventually Greta's father, Sam, had to come down every sunday and help her with homework, though he really did most of the work for her and didn't seem to really wanna be there, Mina would often be lingering and promising him he'd get what he wanted if he just helped his daughter every so often.
As the years went by, Greta remained below average at school, often losing her focus or daydreaming about TV shows, or getting carried away with some of her many friends. Constantly, Fuji was called on when Greta got up to something she shouldn't be doing, like being caught shoplifting a cute beaded bracelet, or telling younger kids at the beach to build her sandcastles on to crush them because they weren't good enough! Just like her brother taught her!
He then tried to unteach her that, very very quickly.
As she became a young preteen, her adoration for her older brother turned into something more critical, as he entered highschool and spent less and less time with her. He was an academic, somebody at the top of his class who everybody looked up to!
And Greta struggled to do basic multiplication.
A friend refused to date her because they said she had a brother complex and they really weren't all for that.
She got frustrated with english homework and her brother showed up a half minute after she groaned at the paper.
Greta was becoming increaingly self-aware of all the things around her, her mothers absence, her brothers constantly moody behaviour and pushiness when it came to her. Eventually, it all came to a boiling point when she snapped at him, when he'd passed her walking home from school and practically demanded she get home and do her homework.
She'd told him she could do whatever she wanted, and that he was being an ass trying to tell her what to do all the time, that she was so sick of it and just wanted to be able to breathe. In return, he'd practically dragged her home away from her friends, before all but telling her that without him she'wouldn't have passed grade school and that she practically needed him to get by.
She shut up after that, and after calling her dad moved out to live with him in his caravan, just to prove her brother wrong. She was suuuper capable of doing things by herself!
Or... maybe not. Her dad wasn't willing to help her pay for after school tutoring or exam prep so she'd spend hours on her phone (that her brother had gotten her with his part time job a few months prior) youtubing studying techniques, but she got bored... super quick... Still, she tried, really! She just got distracted easily, by her friends coming over, by the noisy neighbours, by the smell of her dads beer, by social media...
She had to learn to cook dinner for herself, something she'd taken for granted, that and she often woke up with the blanket having been thrown off, and soon came to realise her brother must have come in every night to fix it for her. Greta wasn't reliant on him, nuh-uh!
At the very least, with help from her friends, she was able to learn one or two things and get... average marks, which was good! Her brother came to visit often, often chatising her for being messy, or for not living up to the academic excellence that Lorsette is known for. Secretly, though she'd never admit it, she looked forward to when he visited. Though, one day, he stopped. She arranged a surprise visit back to her mums place, only to find that he'd moved out. Mina informed her he'd left right after graduation and practically vanished. She wouldn't learn until lated that he'd gone to train to become part of the TRS.
Greta continued on her way of living, going between her parents houses as she pleased now her brother was busy. Her parents didn't pay much attention to her, and despite being popular she found herself missing her brother. Every few days she'd text him, little things about the days activities, letting her know something silly Mina had done, apologising.
Nothing worked in getting him to respond.
In turn, she turned to her friends, often barraging them with texts asking for help, or trying to talk to them constantly. It became a running joke within her group that she was constantly blowing up their phones and spamming them. Perhaps that's what spurred on her plan: plan make more friends and get more help!
She wasn't smart, and she knew club would suuuper distract her, unless she went into a studying club, but that also sounded far too boring. So, after shaking a magic 8 ball and listing off school activities and getting 'all signs point to yes' for asking if the school council would help, she went there, seeking out a way she'd be able to... do anything useful.
Greta had a knack for social media, having been using it from a young age and especially with her friends. She was a quick typer and texter and known for being some-what popular, and eventually she volunteered herself to be the social media representitive for the school.
It was probably one of the first times she'd seen her mum pleasantly surprised by something she did at school.
And yknow what, Greta was gonna put her all into this role! Though it was less selfies and more promoting the school itself and making it look good online, she could totally do that! And then she'd get to sit in a room full of smart people, befriend them and her road to becoming super smart would start!
Plan M.M.F.A.G.M.H was a go! Though she probably should work on the plans proper title... but tht was a step towards becomign smarter! A step towards beating her brother, and getting him to notice her! Take that, Fuji!
misc
Greta makes up for her lack of academic ability in her texting abilities, she's been seen multitasking twelve groupchats at once, in the middle of class of all things! And sure, maybe she got yelled at for it, but it's a super special feat!
When she's sad, her ears have a tendancy to flop around rather than standing straight and upright, so it's pretty easy to tell when Greta's feeling down.
Her secret talent is lego building, as embarrasing as it might be, it was one of the only toys she had growing up and she still stubbournly works at it wanting to get better so she can impress Fuji with her skills, and her friends too!
