Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The long-haired man was undoubtedly attractive, however, the investigation was prioritized. Loving the same gender was considered a forbidden romance in the community he escaped from. Perhaps other families who celebrated the religion were more open, however, the Fraisers were strict, their children attending a school system only slightly less strict. Therefore, Lachlan resisted every temptation, every pull of his insistent heart not to confess how attractive he found Wolverine. Consequences would befall both of them should the blond attempt to take his hand and lead them down that peril-filled road.
Hence, Lachlan proceeded with the inquiries, gradually gathering information about the man he was engaging with while simultaneously shoving his attractions away. A question was asked, a favourable answering being provided, but for once he discovered disappointment with receiving one. Did this ravishing man have something to do with the assassination of George Atkinson? Or was he merely a concerned friend who came to pay his grievances? Lachlan found himself hoping the latter option was the truth.
The man specified his connections, stating he knew George more than young Kenna. The blond nodded, thoughts organizing themselves as he prepared to proceeded with the quick interview. Before he could proceed with the questions, the man spoke first. The reaper's hazel eyes glanced up, locking on the mysterious man. Why was he apologizing for earlier? A sad smile touched the long-haired man's face, the investigator's heart suddenly aching. Why was he looking at him like that? Suddenly, a surname was provided, Lachlan's eyes widening as he quickly realized the implication.
The surname Torres was among those connected with the infamous Noah Sullivan, more renown as The Dark King of the Assembly of Phantoms. Before the blond could manage a word, the top portion of the man's robe fell, revealing his bare chest. Immediately, Lachlan's face turned a deep red, going hot as his heart palpitated from the sight. Even beneath those clothes, this man was absolutely stunning. Stony wings sprouted from the man's back as he said goodbye, soon hovering from the ground. From there, Lachlan finally realized the situation.
"W-wait! Come back here," the blond shouted.
Distance was created in mere seconds because of the man's wings. The hazel-eyed investigator flinched, knowing his stamina to be notoriously low. He turned to follow, attempting to sprint after Wolverine despite his ill-favouring health situation.
Every second spent alongside Wolverine proved to inspire flustered emotions inside Lachlan. The blond failed to comprehend the strong brew of emotions being summoned by the attractive man. Something inside insisted there was something special about the long-haired man, something difficult to comprehend. The reaper's eyes returned to the man's face, a deep breath being taken to sooth his rampant emotions. Curse his attraction to this extremely handsome man! These were forbidden thoughts, the type which would summon endless pain should he pursue his desires!
The flinch captured Lachlan's attention, the reaper feeling somewhat disheartened by witnessing the expression. A flinch suggested potential guilt or the possibility of this man holding incriminating information imperative of the case's success. Usually, the private investigator would be content witnessing that countenance since it suggested the crime could be solved easily... however... he felt differently about this man. As much as the blond denied his sexuality, his desires and wishes for a partner of the same sex, he did not want to see Wolverine need arresting...
"Okay," Lachlan breathed the word out. "Then do you know the victim in question? Or perhaps Kenna Atkinson? Maybe both."
Inquiries related to the main players of the case was asked. These were among the most important questions, the ones which drew connections between them and the victim. A disappointed frown touched Lachlan's lips as he prepared to continue the information gathering.
Hesitantly, Lachlan provided Wolverine with a soft, friendly smile. There were few people who managed to motivate the desires to interact, especially when it arrived to the male gender. Under most circumstances, Lachlan attempted to avoid any man he discovered an attraction in, but this long-haired gentleman felt different. Something inside the blond stirred as he stared at Wolverine's beautiful face and conversed with him. Something pulled him closer, something insisted he required this interaction, almost as though there was basic necessity in it.
Nonetheless, Lachlan attempted to hold his skepticism, reminding himself he was required to interrogate the long-haired man. Yet, everything inside of him insisted against it. Emotions swirled inside of the blond, a peculiar, nonsensical mixture of feelings he failed to comprehend. Everything conflicted, making it difficult for Lachlan to focus on the main objective, gathering information about his recent case. When their hands connected, the blond found his heart fluttering wildly, especially when their hands clasped together longer than usual before release.
A slow breath was taken, a subtle calmness entering Lachlan as he tried to focus. Once he showed Wolverine his identification, the private investigator cleared his throat, sparing a few moments to organize his feelings.
"Anyways, let's begin," he started before gesturing at the home. "Have you heard about what happened here recently?"
The first inquiry was something simple, but still connected to the assassination that recently unfolded. After his question, Lachlan's hazel eyes returned to the long-haired man to witness his reaction to the question. If Wolverine proved to know nothing about the crime, then the blond would have to search for other witnesses. He still needed to investigate the area, but hopefully the man could provide insight.
Locked inside Lachlan's mind was a variety of positive opinions about this stranger's ravishing appearance. Alas, those were forbidden thoughts because of the expectation he weighed upon his shoulders. He masquerading himself as somebody not interested by physical temptations, however, in reality he found himself mesmerized by the different body types of men. Those hidden desires attempted to surface with some success as he interacted with the light-haired stranger. Emotionally, his brain reacted to the small conversation despite nothing flirtatious occurring between the two.
There was a pounding inside Lachlan's chest, a series of flutters that occurred in reaction to the redness colouring the stranger's face. God he was enjoying this. To cease enjoyment from the sublime view of a man was impossible, especially given the gentle nature of his facial features. A deep breath was taken, held for a moment before the blond slowly released the air from the depths of his lungs. A slight calmness surrounded him as he regulated his breathing and scolded his wishes for romantic attention from another man.
The long-haired man inquired about Lachlan requiring assistance, which he nodded in agreement. There were questions to be asked in regards to a recent crime.
"Ah, yes," he paused, coughing to clear his throat and shake his nerves. "I was wondering if you would be okay with answering a few questions."
Inquiries about the recent crime required answering, for without them Lachlan would have a case heavily based on educated guesses and circumstantial evidence. While circumstantial evidence could be viable enough for a conviction, it rarely accomplished the job. Juries preferred physical evidence and witness testimonies rather than the educated guesses of an investigator. Moments later the man introduced himself as Wolverine, what an adorable name... FOCUS! An introduction would provide Lachlan the opportunity to give his role.
Thus, with some hesitance, he reached for the man's hand to shake it while simultaneously grabbing his identification for his occupation. He showed the man the card which labelled him a private investigator.
"I'm Lachlan Fraiser, I'm a private investigator investigating a recent case in the area. I was hoping maybe you could shine a light on some things," Lachlan explained.
After the man was provided a good look at the identification card, Lachlan closed his wallet and returned it to his pocket. Now he needed to hope he could gather information from the attra- the man he discovered... while attempting to avoid falling for his charming appearance.
A negative mantra was being repeated in Lachlan's mind as he stood, red-faced. You're not gay, you're not gay, you're not gay. The trio of words consistently filtered through his mind while he attempted to shove his secret desires deeper into the closet. According to the actions and words used against homosexuality, it was considered the evil fruit, something which tasted glorious, but forbidden to sink his teeth into. The religion thrown into his face refused it, the extremist views of his parents manifesting a negative perspective.
Interpretation connected with perspective. His parents' strict interpretation created bigotry altered Lachlan's perspective, causing him to despise the religion entirely. Therefore, this instant worried Lachlan immensely as he struggled to fight what felt right. He desired to attempt some flirtatious language, perhaps offer coffee should everything related to the crime prove clear. Yet, the blond found himself standing still, reminding himself of those urges were forbidden from his life. Slow breaths were taken to soothe his rapidly beating heart.
His hazel eyes admired the man's beautiful facial features and the pink which painted it, but he kept the doses brief. Merely gazing at the long-haired stranger's face managed to fluster him. A relieved exhale escaped his lips when the stranger mentioned being alright, even stating it twice due to quietness. Only moments later, the question was flipped onto him.
Okay, except for the rapidly beating muscle inside his chest threatening to break his sternum and the intense heat similar the sun crawling across his skin. Everything about the situation flustered him and refused to leave his mind. He struggled to handle his emotions, thus he maintained even breathing in hopes of calming his heart.
Secretly, Lachlan was admiring the stranger’s softer features and gorgeous, long locks. A heavenly face framed by light-coloured hair, the strands tied back into a long ponytail. Part of him wondered how magnificent he would appear with those ties freeing them. The colouring of the stranger’s hair kept his eyes, the marvellous mixture of light brown with undertones of silver. There was something about it which kept the blond’s eyes locked onto the beautiful man. Then there was the man's golden-brown eyes which both attracted and startled him.
Whenever he thought those eyes neared his face, Lachlan found his hazel ones glanced away. Inside his chest, his heart pounded rapidly against his sternum as nervousness grasped his mind. There was a redness that played across the blond's cheeks, colouring them because of their interaction. What the hell was wrong with him?! Usually men who flirted with him warranted this reaction, but suddenly this stranger managed to manifest them with his mere presence. Slow breaths were taken, calming and clearing his head until he could finally focus.
The man answered him with a simple 'yes', but the shyness in his response resulted in a heart flutter. No, stop! The reaper commanded his body, unable to control the reactions. Finally, he began analyzing, trying to fixate on the current situation and the man's potential guilt. The "shyness" could be anxiety created by guilt, similarly, the redness could be a display of an intense guilt. There was a chance the man could be a crim- by Enki his hair looked so soft. DAMMIT! Those thoughts were pushed away quickly.
"Are... you okay?" Lachlan asked quieter than intended.
There was a higher pitch to his voice because of his nervousness grasping him. He felt bashful and awkward in the entire situation. His homosexuality was illegal in his mind. Throughout his life, people disapproved of the notion of same sex couples. School refused to make unique traits flourish and his parents downright criticized the idea of being gay. Those words they exchanged, their suffocating disapproval made accepting himself an impossibility. Even as he stood, shoving feelings away, he accepted the idea of nobody wanting to be his special someone.
Was it bad he could point out a million flaws and not a single good? The man's actions failed to represent the depression consuming his mental state. He distracted himself, refused to think about it, kept moving without taking the necessary steps to recovery. Each time he picked work over improving his mental state, he took another step into the darkness. He was blinded by the shadows without a way to escape.
Bright hazel eyes observing the surrounding area, searching for evidence of the potential killer. Circumstantial evidence was available for analysis and theorizing, however, juries preferred hardened proof of who committed the crime. Proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt was something lawyers were tasked with and a hunk of evidence based off assumed feelings would hardly hold in court. Through the rooms, Lachlan traveled, checking the room for possible proof. The blond entered an old bedroom, each step being slow, however, the window caught his attention.
A brow raised as Lachlan's hazel eyes noticed a small pile of ash. The private investigator crossed the room, his thoughts potentially being a cigarette. He searched for a cigarette butt on the window sill, eyes narrowing when he failed to detect something. There was a chance a cigarette could turn up possible leads for law enforcement to follow. Thoughts surfaced, fingers reaching up, touching his chin as he pondered the information. Suddenly, a thought entered Lachlan's mind as he realized a possible reason for the ash near the window.
What if the cigarette was burnt out and thrown through the window? Should a downpour of rain arrive before the evidence is discovered, the butt would be swept away. Hastily, Lachlan turned a heel, stomping downstairs and through the thresholds to reach the front door. The blond slammed the door opened, bright hazel eyes flitting around, but before he could turn the corner, he noticed him. The private investigator paused, eyes locking on a long-haired man with a ponytail. Those gentle features, long swaying hair... Damn, he looked attractive...
The reaper blinked, shaking his head slightly, shoving those illegal thoughts away. The person stationed here could be a criminal or an accomplice to the crimes, therefore, it would be his responsibility to speak to him... Dammit, why did it have to a good looking guy?! A deep breath was taken as Lachlan strode forward, preparing his mind to be professional towards the civilian.
"Um, excuse me? I was wondering what brought you here?" Lachlan inquired, attempting to gain information
The long-haired man could easily be a crime enthusiast who wished to snoop around the police scene, but occupational requirements made it a necessary for Lachlan to question everything. The only way to gather crucial information was to ask the important inquiries to gain it. Hopefully, if not the culprit, the man would perhaps be a valued witnessing coming to check out of concern alone. No possibilities could be thrown away, therefore, the blond fought his cynical thoughts and remained skeptical all while trying to avoid staring at the man's attractive features.
Tell me where have all the people gone? [break] Tell me what are all these feelings for? [break] I've been waking up in a new cold war... [break] Sitting in my head just, all alone.
