Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Standing narrowly higher than average, Cyros’ height settles at 5’11”, giving him a slightly taller body disposition. Though, despite his semi-impressive height, Cyros was never bestowed a muscular build for the remainder of his body. Lankiness is commonly used in descriptions of Cyros’ body. The young boy holds a pair of longer arms and legs known for being somewhat disproportionate to his body. His limbs are slender, having little muscle or weight to them. These match his slimmed body, Cyros’ lack of muscle mass easily being shown. While he is flat-stomached, the lack of ample physical exercise is clear as Cyros opts to stroll or run to remove excess energy. Across his skin is a pale complexion maimed with paler scars from spending time in an abusive household. He regularly hides them, insisting on notions such as swimming with a shirt as to avoid those judgements.
With facial features following the lead of his body, Cyros’ countenance exemplifies a similar slenderness. High-rise cheekbones create slender cheeks and lead down into a thin, albeit, strong jawline. The lines of his jaw point into a pointed chin with a soft curving to its general shape. On his face is a gently pointed, upturned nose and a pair of thin lips. Though, most admirable on Cyros’ face are his striking eyes. Pools of liquid gold captured in his eyes, bright like a flame and glistening beneath the lights. Many tend to discover beauty in Cyros’ eyes. Contrasting his strikingly bright eyes is locks of black. They are straight locks often contained beneath a toque when possible.
The realm of clothes and numerous styles is foreign to Cyros. Through his years of life, he has worn whatever his parents are willing to provide him. This often results in Cyros notably wearing more old fashion clothing and nothing to par with the current trends. A lot of his outfits come from thrift stores or used stores and sometimes even old hand-me-downs from distant family members. Nothing of what Cyros receives is new unless he decides to purchase it himself, which he regularly avoids to save money. This being said, Cyros does avoid brighter colours, often picking muted or dark shades of clothes. The most common piece he wears is a blue toque with a leaf-like design in a darker shade of blue. The toque covers his ears and the woven strands of strings are blue with small braids of yellow. Atop the toque is a yellow pom pom. Never, will Cyros wear any revealing clothing, even going lengths to dress in t-shirts bigger than his regular size.
As a qilin, Cyros can take on the form of a half-deer half-dragon creature. In this form, he receives blue scaling across a majority of his hide. His head and general body appear similar to a dragon. Meanwhile, his legs appear long, delicate and hooved like a deer’s. From his draconic head sprouts of antlers, gracefully reaching up.
Qilin Shift -- Advanced The ability to shift into a qilin, a combination between a deer and dragon. Unlike dragon forms, the user can freely enter this form. In this form, frequently Cyros will discover a sense of peace. Oftentimes, people can discover him quietly laying in this form, not using it for either offensive or defensive plays. Rather, Cyros simply changes into this form when stressed and at times will exhibit traits of his qilin form. A complete change will result in Cyros taking 30 seconds to shift into qilin form and in this time he is vulnerable. Partial changes can be focused and resulted, however, can also happen by accident. In stressful circumstances, Cyros may grow his antlers and tails when frustrated or upset. This can also happen during dreams where he is bounding in qilin form.
Water Manipulation -- Intermediate The ability to create, move and manipulate water. As a qilin of the water element, Cyros is capable of manipulating water. Though, due to his youth and fears in fighting back, Cyros’ water manipulation capabilities are minimal. Rather, it is used for mundane plans such as removing water from soaked clothes or repelling rain. The few things Cyros can accomplish from a defensive strategy are small whips of water to hit people away or push them back. Otherwise, there is little he can do and those with better control can easily override his control. He does tend to tire easily because of water manipulation if used for extensive periods of time and large-scale manipulation is impossible.
Enhanced Jumping -- Advanced The ability to jump higher than that of an average individual. For the escapism, Cyros learned his enhanced jumping to sit on the branches of trees for calming purposes. He can jump high and far distances with ease because of the zlatorog genes flowing through his body. However, Cyros never learned the ability for offensive or defensive purposes. Therefore, he is incapable in terms of battle or dodging and weaving. Over time, the ability will tire him when used too much. Additionally, Cyros cannot stop himself from jumping once he has launched himself in the air.
Blessings -- Beginner The ability to bestow a blessing onto an individual, allowing them to reap benefits from it. The ability does require physical contact. Due to not being particularly social, Cyros never learned blessings. He avoided the ability and in spite of having a boyfriend, he has continued to avoid it. Using it will exhaust Cyros quickly because of his lack of training and can result in him becoming rather inert.
Birthed into a household devoid of love and affection, Cyros was destined to lead a life hindered with social struggles and home life upsets. His mother, swindled into marriage by an alcoholic charming her through his liquor-laced breath. Convinced of positives, convinced he would change and assured everything in their relationship would be whimsical like artificial romance movies. Every word a blatant lie, yet, as she fell pregnant, the attachment formed. The knot was tied to avoid a child out of wedlock, the unfortunate mother being devotely religious at the time. Little was she aware of the devil she welcomed into her life and the risks she took. Days after their wedding, she was treated similar to a slave. Somebody not considered a whole human, rather, she was somebody expected to serve. Punishment arrived in the forms of a harsh punch, a loud screaming or anything labelled degrading. Yet, desperation clung to her bones, thus as Cyros was born, he found himself launched into the volatile situation.
The earliest memories of the youthful child were the screams of a frightened mother and the slurring of his father’s voice. Fear became a familiarity at a young age, his mother becoming his only caregiver. Yet, the child who observed how his father’s actions were condoned and motivated could never bring himself to trust his parents. He became the embodiment of social incapability, a child who stowed himself away in his room, only bothered by his mother. While she assured he would survive his youth by giving him food, shelter, cleaning and all the basic essentials for a child. Though, he was never protected from the violence occurring amidst the household. The screams that hurt his ears, the fighting that left bruises on his mother or father and additionally the alcohol swallowed down by his father. The bottles that resulted in inspiring his anger at all times of the day. Thus, from the beginning Cyros feared his father... Even as his mother attempted to create personal time he feared him... especially when he started hitting.
His father had differing definitions of what he considered a nuisance. Should Cyros be stumbling his way through the house, the man would shove him. Though, in circumstances where the child screamed and cried... Those were never greeted with the soft comfort of a caring hand, but rather louder screaming and pain arrived on Cyros’ doorstep. A fear spawned inside Cyros of his father, the situation never improving and always seeming to worsen. The young boy’s body became bruised, battered and scarred because of his father. Thus when school came about, Cyros discovered himself thoroughly dressed in clothes to avoid people seeing the marks of abuse. His father was an invisible ghost in his life, the monster in the closet that nobody could view. From his youth experiences, Cyros learned quickly he was trapped in a cruel world.
Resulted from a childhood cloaked in the darkness of abuse, Cyros was a child considered “out of the way”. He avoided his fellow students, shrugging them off and keeping to himself. His friends were books, the realm of words becoming a form of escapism. He was a cold child, always ignoring his fellow students, avoiding play and seemingly never bringing toys of his own for school. The teachers never batted an eye at the young child, merely believing Cyros to be among the quiet few. Their awareness was limited and the child’s who cynicism only grew believed help was nonexistent. If they knew, not an action would be accomplished to protect him from the malicious reality of his father’s alcoholism and abusive tendencies. He would return to the screams, the shouts, the struggles and rough bruise-making grabs. It was inevitable.
Alcohol became a despised scent through the ugliness of Cyros’ youth. It perturbed his stomach and made his hairs stand on end for it harold the arrival of his abuse. Elementary school proved the child’s antisocial behaviors as he discovered himself unable to shake it. The rocky homelife would inevitably ward certain concepts, specifically sleep overs or any time spent at his home. Though, around middle school was when Cyros was greeted with an opportunity he never believed he received. Sorin Fowl was a blond-haired student who somehow managed to inch his way into Cyros’ life. Despite his clear preference on lonesomeness exhibited by his loner attitude, Sorin became a face in his life. Unlike the other faces in his life, Sorin Fowl became the brilliant pillar of light within the child’s life. The attachment between Cyros and Sorin was inevitable, and Cyros was happy. Alas, sleepovers at Cyros never happen along with anything related to coming over.
His reliance on Sorin became evident as they entered high school. A few years into high school, Cyros and Sorin began dating because of their closeness. Then for once, Cyros had somebody to talk to about the despicable homelife he lived in. Stuff was left out, but Cyros discovered comfort in having somebody to speak to. However, there were still days where Cyros could not have that escapism. With the pressure of his father’s horrors on his shoulders and the screams of his mother, Cyros turned somewhere unhealthy. As an underaged child, Cyros turned to cigarettes to remove the edge from his life. He planned on it being one on a bad evening, but it spiralled inevitably. It became the only thing he hid from Sorin as thoughts of his boyfriend being upset disturbed him. Thus, at 16, Cyros was smoking in silence despite the dangerous effects of those items.
As the last year of school approaches, Cyros has already made a steady effort to save money where possible with hopes of moving out with Sorin. He has kept his classes fairly ranged while contemplating what he would like as a future job. He hopes to move out after the school year closes.
