Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Ozaei's eyes narrowed as they explained what it was they were staring at earlier. Looking down at the book, he shrugged. "Sounds pretty boring but you do you," he finished, placing a hand on his hip and playing with his hair with the other. "Just make a bet with the culin... cirul... culinry... teacher and you're good to go yeah?"
A vein could be seen in plain view as they asked him to back up. "What are you trying to say huh?" Kicking off on his skates, he rolled even closer to them, not even bothering to stop. "Huh? Are you trying to say I'm hot?!" Ozaei was so close now that any closer and he'd accidently shock them if he wasn't careful, so he stopped, thinking about what he just said. "Well I'm HOT but I'm not hot-hot you fuck. Do I LOOK like a fire genasi?!"
"Fuck you Ashy," Ozaei muttered while on the ground, not even paying heed to his injuries. "The only thing's boring around here is you, I mean really what kinda dealer are you damn it?!" Deeply sighing, he finally realized the state he was in, and reluctantly, with his temper passing ever so slowly, he gritted his teeth and nodded... in denial. "Obvious-fucking-ly I'm going to run again! Running is my thing, paper-weighted slim chested piece of-" he suddenly stopped as what she was saying incorrectly clicked in his head. If he fries her she'll tell him how to better cheat-gamble? Hell yeah.
Giggling like a kid on a sugar rush, he smiled widely from his comfy painful position on the hard ground. "Deal, deal and deal!" he exclaimed, almost forgetting he was pissed off earlier. "I'm Dolores, I guess I'll keep calling ya Ashy, you don't mind right? Right! Now help me up!" His mind was racing with all of the things she could teach him and how he could get back all of the money he wasted. And the clothes he just tore up running at nigh full speed into a dent. It was a great thing his nervous system burned out years ago.
Ozaei watched in amazement as the stranger created snow to break their fall and instantly he know what that meant. He was in the presence of an elemental! Probably a snow elemental, and he always loved chatting with them being one himself. His eyes flashed yellow as in mere moments he was standing in front of them, a trail of electricity and broken branches where he previously was. Grinning, he crossed his arms... a nice blouse, suit... they had taste, but of course he was biased and believed his taste superior.
"Hey you didn't hear me calling you?!" He asked a tad bit too loudly. His voice was fit how he looked but at the same time didn't, of feminine and masculine properties, but his energetic aura was all the same. "Dolores. The fastest fucking elemental you'll ever meet, nice to meet ya." His grin increased with proudness as he mock curtsied, something he learned from someone else, before leaning in close. "What's that you're reading?" he asked, all up in their business.
Ozaei found himself skimming around the very outer edge of what was Market territory, being very careful to not venture too far off lest he upset his mother. His jagged skates and enhanced speed made it extremely easy for him to slide and duck between misshaped branches and faults in on the forest floor, enjoying his free time while reciting old scriptures in his head. Today he was dressed in (unsurprisingly) a dress with cuts made near the bottom to allow him more movement. His hair was messy, but kept in a way that would make any stranger assume his gender quite incorrectly, and that's exactly what he wanted. Skidding to a stop, he noticed someone up ahead.
Ozaei didn't stop his advance, only paused briefly when he saw the smile that would succeed in making him lose what little control of himself he had left. "Are you fucking with me right now?!" He yelled, hitting the ground. He couldn't tell, but his skin was starting to burn. Surely if he had any pain nerves left, this would be hurting like hell, but he'd be damned if he was going to let this person get away with all she'd done to him... even if he did it to himself through his own antics.
Use his momentum? Follow through? He wanted to be angry, but maybe she had a point, and he was going to go eight miles with said point. "Sure Ashy... you want follow through?" He gritted his teeth, eyes now as bright as any street light would be as he assumed a crouching stance similar to the starting position of Olympic runners. The ground quaked as electricity akin to lightning was now visibly leaving his body. Go big or go home. "I'll give you some follow through!" With those words, Ozaei kicked off. If he didn't use so much of his stamina earlier, he would be moving at full speed, but this time he was considerably slower. Fast enough to make even the fastest elementals budge, but still far below the usual.
Ozaei's plan was to just ram the woman in front of him. Maybe he could take her abdomen or torso clean off with sheer speed. What he didn't plan or see in his blind, linear ramming attack was a fault in the street. He foolishly tripped right over it, making him tumble in the air towards Mikaela Lye. At this point, he was spent. His skin had otherworldly burns on it, and he was so out of stamina he couldn't even raise his hands up to break his fall. Or get in one last hit. 'Well, shit...' he muttered to himself.
Was she trying to get herself reduced to ash? He didn't know nor did he care about her motives or intentions. Energetic natures and hot tempers never mixed well. Ozaei watched with glowing eyes as she dodged his attack again, further irritating him. "Stop calling me a god damn snake!" He shouted, sparing absolutely zero movements as he kicked off again, this time denting the ground as he did so. In a flash he was in close quarters with her, and for the third time aimed his sharpened skates at her throat. Who cared what kind of trouble he would be in, or was in? Not him. He should care, but there wasn't any trace of him that did. Not right now, at lest.
He gritted his teeth even harder, blood beginning to seep as he landed on the ground, panting. At this rate he was going to overheat, and seriously damage himself. At the sound of her remarking that he'd join her in hell, his anger would be visible on every ounce of his person, electricity now lashing out all around his body. Yeah, he was definitely going to overdo it. "Join YOU in Hell?! You fucking wish! I'm going to heaven! I'm the only one that's going to heaven! I'm the only one worthy enough TO go! Dolores was right! Everyone else on this pathetic fucking piece of rock are all sinners except me! You here me?!" Tears mixed with blood made a streak down his face as he jolted at the woman in his sights with assassin's intent, balling his fist up and aiming a punch at her abdomen.
"I AM NOT SINFUL! I just can't change, is all. YOU are for getting in my way, so DIE!" Regardless on if he actually hit her, Ozaei kept swinging with all he had, with all the speed he had, conflicted in his actions. A part of him didn't want to do this, and was just upset that his actions were questioned, while another part of him was hoping this lady was indeed stronger and faster than he, and would put him down quickly. It would be a nice release from the issues he had to deal with.
"Rock bottom?" He hissed, getting to his feet. "Did I say I was at rock bottom bitch?!" Ozaei practically yelled as he gritted his teeth, even more frustrated at the swift dodging display. His heart beat wickedly in his chest as he cracked his knuckles, still staring down the woman in front of him. Mentally he thought of his chances of dispatching her and leaving in one piece. He only thought this because of just how easily she dodged his charged attack, the chances of her being just as if not more skilled than he was wasn't chances he liked, and if he was sane he would just apologize and walk off...
Matching her smile in kind, but with far more pointed teeth and a sinister look, he suddenly grabbed his hair in frustration. A viper? He hated snakes, they were too slippery and he was convinced they were aspects of the devil, so of course, he took what she said personally. "A snake? ME?! Hell no Ashy, I'm a holy kid!" He said with hints of proudness before sending far more surges of electricity through his body. The air around him heated as he stared at her. "I don't know who the hell you are, but you pissed me off, so say sayonara to heaven Ashy! I'm kicking you straight to Hell!" With those words, he kicked off on his skates and charged at her at surreal speed, electricity following closely behind him as he again aimed a spinning kick to her head.
He wasn't going to make this easy for anyone, no, he was going to make an example out of someone or something tonight because Ozaei agreed with her. It would only end in one way, and he wasn't about to lose another bet.
Ozaei stopped what he was doing with a quick and abrupt pause as he felt something pull on his wrist- and it wasn't a light grip. Eyes narrowing, he hissed as he turned to glare at, and possibly threaten, whoever was bold enough to interrupt his small tantrum. Realizing it was the dealer that made him lose so much money, he quickly barked back in a high voice. "I don't give a fuck about your sister! I'll kill her! Listen Ashy, just fuck off 'kay?" At this point, Ozaei was fuming. He always had a habit of being aggressive first, and asking questions (or apologizing) later, and today was no exception. After all, who in the world could compete with a kid's rage who just lost all his money due to his own stupid actions?
Her question made him pause for a moment. His excuse? Excuse? He had no excuse, he just wanted to win, it was part of the glamour of betting and gambling; his ludomania wouldn't allow it if he didn't at least try to even out the odds for himself and himself alone, how was that an excuse? Ozaei bit his tongue until it bled, the red dripping down his mouth as he held back his urges to just attack. "I'm not desperate! It's just what I do! And for your fucking information lady I don't have a m..." Again, he paused, not wanting to disrespect the person who raised him. It was true he had no mother, but he had a mother. A guardian that acted like one, at least... should he say he doesn't have a mother, or should he say he does, since the mother he has now he questions? The sudden barrage of roller-coaster emotions was too much for him.
"Don't say a goddamn word about Dolores," he muttered, quietly. His eyes glistened as he charged himself and the air around him up with electricity. A streak of tears ran down one side of his face as he stared at Mikaela Lye with hate, attempting to drop to the ground and twist his trapped arm, aiming a jagged razor bladed kick at her neck with enhanced speed. He didn't really care if it landed or missed, he was too caught up in his anger, and because of that, his train of thought was all over the place. He killed people before, what made attacking some casino dealer any different?
"That would be me," At the sound of those words, Ozaei sprouted a devilish smirk from up top his bench as his eyes shot right towards the raised hand of one lady, it fading when he watch what he could only describe as a pitiful display of skating as she ran into a bench. "Who... doesn't know how to skate?" He asked out loud to no one in particular, bewildered that there's people out there that couldn't balance themselves as he could. While an unfair judgment, he quickly dismissed it as he hopped off the bench he was on, landing on his jagged wheels with a thud.
Ozaei's yellow eyes glew with color as he send a few jolts through his body, kicking off and zipping through the crowd to his blind date; child's play. Upon reaching his destination, he skid to a stop just a few inches away from her, mouthing the word "wow" as he did so. There was something about her that just made him glow up, and he smiled awkwardly because of it. Shaking his head in frustration, he muttered a string of curse words before loudly clearing his throat. "Name's Dolores!" Ozaei said proudly in a rather feminine voice, pointing to his nametag. "And you must be She Who Cannot Skate!" he concluded. "Don't worry, should be easy enough to teach you... if you... want to learn." He adjusted his eye patch and curtsied before offering a hand to Haley Hayes . "Seriously! It's easy! And with my help, we'll be zooming. Best date ever in sight!"
Ozaei was nearly about to jump out of seat in excitement as he thought the dealer was reaching for the next card, but he was horribly mistaken. Instead, he recieved one of the worst case scenarios. Her eyes widened and she announced that a card was marked. Immediately Ozaei lost all of his cool, despite knowing the mark he put on the card was visibly noticeable, something he decided to overlook while placing the things to begin with, foolishly thinking only electric manipulators can sense them. All in all? This was not his fault, in his mind, one hundred and fifty two percent the dealer's for messing up such a great plan.
He watched as a new deck was received, and the moment he saw that it was a deck he didn't mark, the speedster shot up from his chair- nearly falling over on his skates- and slammed his hands on the table, clearly pissed off. "Bullshit, lady!" He screamed, pushing back another player that was attempting to calm him down. "Those cards weren't marked and if they were you definitely wouldn't see it! I should know!" Ozaei's voice was so loud the entire casino could hear it by now, but he wasn't finished yet.
Out of his pocket, he snatched a card he took by accident at another table, Poker, marked in an entirely different way than the marks he used in Blackjack, making the point he was about to make null, but again... he didn't care. He was the victim here! He lost so much money already. "LOOK!" He said, practically throwing the card at the dealer, "You can't see the mark can you?! You know what! Fuck this shit I'm out!" With those words, he kicked away from the table with an electric charged thrust and began skating away, but not after attempting to kick the table over forcefully. If he couldn't win, he'd be damned everyone else could. Regardless on if he was successful in overhauling the table, he began to mutter words to whoever was listening, skating around in circles still in his mood. "Dark haired ash lookin' lady telling me the cards were marked... does she know how much money I lost... damn it..."
The ground beneath the yellow eyed speed demon's feet sparked with each miniscule movement he made, his literal razor blades tearing through the ground of Lorsette as he made his way to the rink. Today was the day of the blind date, and the moment he figured out it was taking place at an outdoor rink, he was all for it. After all, he did bet someone back at the market that he could make it through the entire event without causing any kind of chaos, and that, along with have a hell of a lot of fun, was what he was going to do. Maybe he'd meet more elementals there? Who knew?
A trail of electricity followed behind him as he, dressed in a black collared jacket, slim slacks, and something that could only be described as a skirt, zoomed through the streets before skidding to a stop at the help desk with plenty of time to spare. "What's this stuff?" Ozaei asked, inquiring about the bundles of empty name tags. Upon hearing that he had to wear one, he began to argue with the person operating the desk until finally, he submitted, and received a nametag that read "Dolores", his middle name, as well as another that read Haley. This must be the person paired with him, he thought as he skated into the rink.
Immediately, he skated around the entire thing with speed until hopping onto a bench and standing on top of it, clearing his throat. "Ahem... HEY!" Ozaei began, trying to get everyone's attention. "I'm looking for someone called... wait, fuck..." Stopping mid sentence, he realized he lost the name he was given while he was rolling around carelessly, and hopped off the bench he stood on to retrieve another from the desk, who was less than thrilled to see him again.
After receiving another one, and a warming that he wasn't getting another, he resumed his announcement, again on top of the bench. "I'm looking for Haley Hayes ! Has anyone seen her?!" There... were better ways of finding his partner, such as simply waiting like everyone else around him, but simple problems caused for over the top solutions, and not only was this such a solution, it would yield better results than any other, so he thought.
Exactly how much money he'd lost today was something only god would know, but he just kept playing, kept betting, kept risking it all. A bad habit turned addiction landed him here most days of the week whenever he could, and he didn't mind. Anything he lost he would work towards earning back at the market or through skate races.
It would be a rather normal day of betting and gambling at the casino, but he was starting to get annoyed. He hasn't won much here besides minor stuff, things that paled in comparison to the amount of money he has, well had, ten minutes ago. He thought this table would up his chances of winning, but of course he was dead wrong, which is why he resorted to his speed, a special way of cheating that could only be detected by people with a keen eye for manipulators like him. Grinning, he sat back in his chair, arms crossed, looking at the others at the table. Blackjack, while having elements of luck, could be easily exploited by Ozaei.
Ozaei was at the table long enough now that he'd already marked every single card in the decks that were being used with a static mark, a small burn on the edge of each card he touched that would give out a specific static shock if touched by someone else, or interacted with something electric. This required him to move rather quickly to set up, but this speed demon did so with ease. To his knowledge, no one at the table had the reflexes, wisdom, or knowledge of what he could to do stop or notice him. There were plenty of ways this could backfire, but he thought about none of them. The game was all that mattered right now.
He though only marked certain cards: the aces, face cards and ten's, and everything else barring cards under the number five. All he had to do when a card was laid down by the dealer was see how much static electricity it had on it's marked edge by tapping the table and waiting. This method ensured he knew exactly what card was about to come next and what cards the other players had. He was definitely liking his odds. Glancing at another player as the dealer announced a 12 showing, he raised a brow, tapping the table with a finger impatiently and silently cursing the man underneath his breath for his stupid decision. He had no right to do so, since he was cheating and that other player wasn't, but he didn't care.
Knowing what was coming next, he smirked at the dealer with his bright yellow eyes and spoke the very moment she was done asking her question. "HIT!" Ozaei said, practically yelling at this point as he began tapping on the table, sending electricity through it. Combined with what he already had, which was a five, a four should be revealed by the dealer next, getting him to twenty one. Easy money. Settling back down, he crossed his arms again and waited, rolling the ball of his shake shoes around on the floor passively. "Easy win!"
With pale skin and piercing yellow eyes, Ozaei is someone you literally cannot forget. He sprouts short, blue hair with an eyepatch that usually covers his right eye. His eyes are completely fine, it's purely for aesthetic purposes. The clothes he wears varies greatly from stylish biker jackets to long dresses, but he can always be seen on a pair of roller skates with sharpened and jagged wheels, allowing for quick movement on the grittiest of surfaces. Or very messy and quick executions.
personality
Ozaei is an extremely energetic individual, enjoying the company of other elementals in similar situations, and is friendly to everyone as long as they pose no current or future danger to him or the organization he calls home. He's a strong believer that people can never change, no matter what they do in their life, and despite being religious to a disturbing fault, also believes that no one will go to the realm of heaven when they die except him. Unfortunately, the faults Ozaei has are numerous, but his main one is his lack of ability to read situations correctly. This makes him the worst person possible when it comes to talking about the passing of someone, or other sensative topics.
Ozaei often uses the given name Dolores when he addresses others, and acts in a way that would trick those who didn't know him beforehand into thinking he was a girl. This is because he isn't content within his own body, instead absolutely hating the person he currently is. Due to this, his demeanur is often feminine.
The last thing of note to mention about Ozaei is his ludomania; the kid can't stop betting and gambling, even when the odds are severely against him or he just doesn't know how to do whatever he's gambling on/with. Despite this, he hasn't lost a gamble yet... mostly because they all consist of a race of some kind, and there aren't many that are faster than he.
When it comes to pissing off Ozaei, all one has to do is mock the way he acts or operates, and they'll get a swift razor kick to the throat, no questions asked. Only after he attempts murder would he calm down a bit, and get far more upset if they survived. He acts similarly when on missions or just screwing around with the masses.
abilities
[Electricity Immunity] (natural)
Because of his genes, Ozaei is completely immune to the effects electricity would have to any other normal person. He doesn't get shocked by it, nor does he suffer from negative effects when exposed to it, making him an extremely difficult creature to subdue, but a great assassin.
[Electricity Manipulation] (mastered)
Ozaei was and is frighteningly good at using the element of electricity in various, creative ways, At a young age, he displayed his proficiency with the element by healing his wounds far quicker than any other, and eventually using it to increase his speed to insane levels. This backfired, however, when he accidentally burned his nervous system, damaging it and his ability to feel most things, as well as his ability to heal faster. This leaves him suspectable to minor wounds causing major bleed out and overheating/overcooling. Another thing Ozaei is known for is his ability to charge himself and others with electricity.
[Enhanced Speed] (mastered)
During his time at the Dark Market Organization, Ozaei, under the training of the mentors there, has perfected his ability to move far quicker than most if not every thing he faces. Ozaei is blessed with enhanced speed, able to both move and react far quicker than he otherwise could, but his skills are minor when compared to those who can instantly move from one place to another, and his reaction time isn't good enough to avoid all danger with ease.
Ozaei suffers from surprisingly low stamina, even for an elemental, being able to only operate in short bursts before tiring. These bursts last for about thirty seconds, far longer during electric based natural disasters.
backstory
“You’re an embarrassment to yourself.”
Ozaei threw a rock, watching it skip on the sparkling clean water of the pond before re-submerging himself in the liquid. Poking at the wrinkled skin on his fingertips, he wondered exactly how long he’s been outside, but the thought quickly left his mind as he brought himself back up to the surface to breathe, this time pulling himself up further to sit on the edge of the pond.
“An embarrassment…”
The words rang in his head as he sat there, staring at the seemingly small house in the middle of the clearing, just walking distance from the water. The home of the Dark Market, the people who took him in years ago when all he had was the clothes on his back. The home of one of the evilest women to ever walk the earth, the same woman that called him the words that still bother him to this date. Ozaei groaned as he got up and covered himself with a nearby towel. The air was warm and cozy, even at night, oddly peaceful for such a place, yet all he could think of was his past failures, and how every last one was orchestrated in some way to shape his life.
Every step on the cold grass reminded him of the type of person he was returning to, willingly. A person who sat on a throne of lies and deception, but it was all he had. It wasn’t just him, it was everyone else too. She was all the Nobles had, and he was going to ensure that semblance of sanity and safety wouldn’t leave them. The ones that didn’t survive couldn’t swallow their pride and accept their failures, but he could, and that’s why he was still around.
Ozaei’s steps began to slow as the distance between him and the door to the Market seemed like it was growing with each step. He couldn’t remember much of his past, he only remembered key details: he remembered that he was the one who failed his parents by allowing their death, and he remembered that he owed his new parent a nigh-unrepayable debt… he just didn’t know what exactly they did that he held in such high regard, and every day it seemed like he only sunk deeper into this dark amnesia-lullaby. A part of him knew that none of that remained relevant now. The rather young elemental began to look to the future. Nowadays, he either orchestrates dealings of chaos, or spies on the spies who spy on them on the low key. His existence is widely nonexistent in his eyes, but that’s not by choice.
Suddenly, the door to the small shop opened and a gust of freezing air engulfed the boy as he hugged himself. “Did you enjoy your bath, Ozaei?”
He nodded his head as he quickly entered, not even daring to look at the one who spoke to him. They were talking, still, but he couldn’t hear a word, he already knew that the real meaning behind them would never be revealed, and so it was a waste of his time, but patiently he waited until he was told off to his own room, far underneath the walls of the house. Tomorrow was another day, and just like yesterday, he would sleep, and forget every little painful thought he had today. It didn’t matter how much he tried to criticize hw things were done, nothing ever changes. It was obvious that the more he allowed his true feelings to be suppressed, the more destructive his outburst would be, but that was something he was counting on. Maybe someday he could change everything for the better, but that day wasn’t today, nor would it be tomorrow. Or the day after...
misc
- Ozaei when he's able goes by Dolores, both to confuse others into thinking that he's the real seer as well as to make others think he's a girl. Other names he uses include but aren't limited to Espada, Surina, and... well, Ozaeina, his real name that sounds feminine as is
- Ozaei is a speed demon, relying on it alone to solve most of his problems
- It's believed that Dolores Esmeree sent Ozaei to find and kill a former Noble in the past, but he refused after learning of who it was
- Ozaei can't remember any real details of his past, only that he owes the Dark Market
- Ozaei has a lot of respect for people who end other's lives
- For some reason, Ozaei loves going into crowds of people and pretending he's Thor
- It's extremely difficult to harm Ozaei without using magic of some kind. This also means he can't feel pleasure easily. Sad
- Ozaei is pronounced "O-ZIE"
- (probably the most important note..) Ozaei curses. A. LOT. Unless you're some kind of authority figure, you're getting cursed out
- For some reason, Ozaei attends the school in Lorsette
