Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The ground beneath the yellow eyed speed demon's feet sparked with each miniscule movement he made, his literal razor blades tearing through the ground of Lorsette as he made his way to the rink. Today was the day of the blind date, and the moment he figured out it was taking place at an outdoor rink, he was all for it. After all, he did bet someone back at the market that he could make it through the entire event without causing any kind of chaos, and that, along with have a hell of a lot of fun, was what he was going to do. Maybe he'd meet more elementals there? Who knew?
A trail of electricity followed behind him as he, dressed in a black collared jacket, slim slacks, and something that could only be described as a skirt, zoomed through the streets before skidding to a stop at the help desk with plenty of time to spare. "What's this stuff?" Ozaei asked, inquiring about the bundles of empty name tags. Upon hearing that he had to wear one, he began to argue with the person operating the desk until finally, he submitted, and received a nametag that read "Dolores", his middle name, as well as another that read Haley. This must be the person paired with him, he thought as he skated into the rink.
Immediately, he skated around the entire thing with speed until hopping onto a bench and standing on top of it, clearing his throat. "Ahem... HEY!" Ozaei began, trying to get everyone's attention. "I'm looking for someone called... wait, fuck..." Stopping mid sentence, he realized he lost the name he was given while he was rolling around carelessly, and hopped off the bench he stood on to retrieve another from the desk, who was less than thrilled to see him again.
After receiving another one, and a warming that he wasn't getting another, he resumed his announcement, again on top of the bench. "I'm looking for Haley Hayes ! Has anyone seen her?!" There... were better ways of finding his partner, such as simply waiting like everyone else around him, but simple problems caused for over the top solutions, and not only was this such a solution, it would yield better results than any other, so he thought.

Blind dates weren't Haley's choice method for killing time. She'd been on a few before, but they were more for fun at the insistence of others than anything serious. Her prior marriage had ended in death and when she'd opened up a few centuries ago it had an even messier ending, so while she wasn't closed off she also wasn't in a rush to get back out there. She did well enough for herself on her own. [break][break] Not everyone seemed to see it that way. At least, that's the message she got when one of her married coworkers slammed her with a flier for this blind date event at a skating rink without any prompting whatsoever. After a bit of halfhearted resistance she'd agreed to put some thought into it and rather last minute decided she had nothing better today. So here she was, surrounded by other skaters and flashing lights. She had to admit, the event was quite the marketing scheme for this place. [break][break] Her attention was caught by someone standing on a nearby bench with an absolute lack of decorum and calling her name loud enough for the entire rink to hear, even over the music. Haley knew that over the millennia she’d been alive, customs had changed, and she had no desire to be one of those people who got hung up on past values while the world developed around them, but this had to be crossing some sort of line. [break][break] "That would be me," she sighed, raising her hand so he could pick her out from a few benches away as she finished lacing up her skates. She offered a hurried smile, hoping her tone hadn't seemed too lackluster. She didn't want to count this experience as a loss before she gave it a chance. It wasn’t like she had any room to judge him for his boisterous exterior. Heaven knew she was loud enough once she got to know people, she was just unnerved but the unfamiliar surroundings. [break][break] "One moment, just let me-" she cut off with a yelp as she pushed herself off the bench and skittered a few feet forward, barely managing to stop before slamming into the bench the man was standing on. "Sorry, I’m new at this." she chuckled, making sure she was really balanced before tucking her hair back behind her ear. She really should have gone skating at some point earlier in her life. She had no particular desire to place her safety in the hands of a few wheels, but the outfits were so cute and that was more important than the sport itself. A friend had tried to get her into biking once but she just didn't look as good in bike-y clothes. [break][break]
"That would be me," At the sound of those words, Ozaei sprouted a devilish smirk from up top his bench as his eyes shot right towards the raised hand of one lady, it fading when he watch what he could only describe as a pitiful display of skating as she ran into a bench. "Who... doesn't know how to skate?" He asked out loud to no one in particular, bewildered that there's people out there that couldn't balance themselves as he could. While an unfair judgment, he quickly dismissed it as he hopped off the bench he was on, landing on his jagged wheels with a thud.
Ozaei's yellow eyes glew with color as he send a few jolts through his body, kicking off and zipping through the crowd to his blind date; child's play. Upon reaching his destination, he skid to a stop just a few inches away from her, mouthing the word "wow" as he did so. There was something about her that just made him glow up, and he smiled awkwardly because of it. Shaking his head in frustration, he muttered a string of curse words before loudly clearing his throat. "Name's Dolores!" Ozaei said proudly in a rather feminine voice, pointing to his nametag. "And you must be She Who Cannot Skate!" he concluded. "Don't worry, should be easy enough to teach you... if you... want to learn." He adjusted his eye patch and curtsied before offering a hand to Haley Hayes . "Seriously! It's easy! And with my help, we'll be zooming. Best date ever in sight!"

Haley flinched slightly as the energetic boy flew towards her, nearly ramming into her but managing to stop in time. She who cannot skate. Haley grinned at that. "The one and only," she confirmed with a slight nod. [break][break] Haley eyed his outstretched hand cautiously. If she didn’t want to learn to skate, she wasn’t sure what she’d be doing there. Still, she wasn’t sure she trusted herself to shift her weight and reach out. In that moment she was pretty sure she’d feel safer on a battlefield. At least there she knew where she was needed and what she was supposed to do. [break][break] But her time on the field was over and this situation was entirely different. This situation was for fun. There was no real danger. "Alright," she said, taking the hand he'd offered and somehow managing to stay standing. "I'm a fast learner. Just tell me what to do." she added, hoping it was as true in this situation as it was in most others. She'd prefer to get the hang of this sooner rather than later. [break][break] "Have you been skating for a long time, then?" she asked curiously. It seemed a bit like a novelty sport to her, like skiing or horseback riding. Everyone knew the general idea, but some people were raised on it while others couldn't imagine spending time doing it. Of course, she was sure there were all sorts of skaters between the two extremes, it just seemed foreign to her.
When his blind date took his hand, Ozaei smiled widely. This was going to be fun, especially since she was apparently a fast learner. He didn't doubt that, he just doubted she was faster than him, and just like that an internal bet was made to himself, by himself, for no one in particular.
"OK, so what you do is pretend like you're riding a bike with no seat and keep your balance. Then kick off and fly! But since you're with me you know shit's gonna be easy, so all you have to do is hold on and let Dolores take the invisible wheel." Way too simple to be an explanation but he didn't care, to him that was the jest of things.
Pulling Haley close to him, he kicked off with one foot, and just like that they were off. Ozaei took great care to not go too fast, but fast enough that they were starting to pass other skaters way too quickly. He was holding her hand tight, if paying attention one might see small sparks of static electricity between their fingers; like he planned, he was having fun and not paying much attention to anything else besides Haley and sometimes death-glaring people with fancier skirts than him.
"Don't remember when I started. I think I picked it up on an assassination mission or some shit you know? Gotta be fast enough to keep up with my own lightning to get to Heaven and zoom the heathens. By the way just let go when you're ready to try skating by yourself. I'll catch ya if you fall."

Pretend like you're riding a bike with no seat. Haley wasn't exactly sure what that meant - she hadn't even ridden a bike in decades - but she smiled and nodded like she understood. She was sure the best way to learn would be by practice anyway. After all, she could watch skaters all she wanted but it wouldn't show her how to keep her balance like they did. [break][break] Then, very suddenly, they were off. She was shaky, but she managed to stay upright as they zoomed past other skaters. Her attention was very focused on her footing as Ozaei rattled off a response to her question. [break][break] She nodded as he told her she could try on her own, but kept a firm grip his hand. She wasn't sure she could do this on her own. Not yet, at least. She braced herself and set a goal to try on her own after three more laps. After that long it would be more about overcoming nerves anyway. [break][break] She glanced down at their clasped hands, at the sparks between them. He must have been an elemental then. Her gaze lifted to his face. "Assassination?" she asked. Then she realized she almost certainly didn't want the answer. "Actually, don't go any further on that subject."An assassination mission. She’d spent a lot of time on a battlefield, but labeling something an assassination was rare. At least, not amongst the ‘good guys’. She knew that in any army there were the good and the bad, the ambitious and the dutiful. [break][break] Regardless, that wasn’t the sort of thing most people talked about. "You're kinda young, aren't you?" she asked rather abruptly. She knew appearances could be deceiving, she herself being a prime example, but he had the aura about him of someone under thirty.
Ozaei perked up at the question, his devilish grin appearing as he increased in speed, the static between them becoming more and more apparent. "Yeah, I had to- oh, yeah," He said, stopping quickly after her next few words. He'll of course tell her later. They were pretty fun sometimes, he had to admit. He met a lot of neat people along the way with pretty not so neat stubs for heads.
After being asked his age, he didn't bother to slow down or stop, only continue on. He was young, but old enough to know things and have skills. A very particular set of skills that could be used in very particular ways. "Yeah, like nineteen or something. I don't know, I think I stopped that aging shit couple years ago..." He replied, still focused on skating before noticing a ledge. "You ready for this?! This is going to be the best skate of your life! Bet!" He said energetically, attempting to let go of her hand, skate behind her and hug her waist. It was time for speed.
If he succeeded, Ozaei would then charge himself up with electricity before launching forward at speeds he has no right going right towards the ledge, making sure his blind date didn't slip out of his grasp. That would be less than good.

[attr="class","aodmain"]
Nineteen. When Haley was nineteen her life had been so much different. She'd been married - an arranged marriage - and entirely focused on what she was supposed to be doing. Back then the entire world had been a different place. It had been expected of her to start a family young. She wasn't sure how her life would be if she'd fulfilled that duty and had children, but that just hadn't been how things turned out. She was glad for how her life had turned out, even if she'd been through plenty of less than ideal situations to get there. [break][break] She couldn't really dwell on the thoughts, though, because Ozaei released her hand, leaving her skittering for a moment before he grabbed her around the waist and began speeding them forward. She let out a small yelp as the world flew by her. Her heart was pounding too loudly in her ears for her to make out what he shouted as they flew over the ledge. [break][break] Haley absolutely did not trust this boy not to drop her, but she pinched her eyes shut. "What the hell?" she yelled, trying to replace some of the edge in her voice with mirth. "I don't get any warning?" They were going far too fast and she felt with a certain dread that if they didn't land hard on some sort of pavement they'd surely run into someone else. It was like they were flying, but even she wouldn't do that so recklessly.
"Hell's damn wrong! What the HEAVEN!" The wind blowing past them was now a little bit too much for Ozaei as he felt his ears pop. Normally he could easily breeze past dozens of people at this speed but with someone else literally right in front of him it was proving to be a bit of a challenge. Slightly registering what was said, he yelled back a response. "I AM A WARNING!" Speeding up even more, they were now surrounded by lightning as bright as his eyes, Ozaei still taking care not to hurt or harm his date by charging her up too.
Tightening his grip on her waist, he kicked off the ledge once they reached it and of course Ozaei didn't think the rest of this plan through as they were launched very high into the air at around a few thousand miles per hour; the joys of enhanced acceleration. Once up there he looked down, still holding onto Haley as they just... remained there. Clearing his throat after his excitement vanished a little, he chuckled. "So, I think we have a bit until we start falling," he would say, smiling, "but the view's nice right? Look at that sky! Best skate ever am I right?"

Haley's heart was pounding in her chest as she found herself depending on his grip to keep her from falling. She hated depending on others, even when they weren't perfect strangers. [break][break] I am a warning! She heard over everything else and she had to scoff. At least this wasn't turning into the boring blind date she'd half expected. She wasn't sure whether being stuck with a half-suicidal idiot was any better, but it certainly wasn't worse. "You're going to get us killed!" she called over the air pounding past them. She wasn't sure the view of being so high was worth the free fall they were about to endure. [break][break] Haley clenched her jaw as she began to get the feeling that this particular fall would be problematic. "Hold on!" she yelled over the breeze. She twisted in his grip so she was facing him and kept a firm hold around his waist. She wasn't used to making this change while falling, and if she was going to do it she didn't want to accidentally fall from his grasp and lose track of him. She closed her eyes and kept her breathing even as she went through the familiar change and wings bloomed from her back. She had very little experience flying with extra weight, but she didn't need to actually lift them, just to slow their fall once it began.
Laughing like a maniac, Ozaei calmed down enough to respond to his blind date. "Don't worry I can't age anymore! That means I'm IMMORTAL!" Looking down at the now rapidly approaching ground, he started to should, holding Haley very close just in case he forgot he wasn't alone and shouldn't use any bit of electricity at this height. "DID YOU HEAR THAT YOU EARTHBOUND BITCHES?! WE DO NOT AGE! WE ARE IMMORTAL!"
While that's absolutely not how immortality works, and as usual he was mistaking eternal youth for something else, he didn't care, he was having fun and he only hoped she was too. Finally turning to Haley as the 'falling' part of their descent officially began, it finally set into Ozaei's head what was going on. "Oh shit," he said softly before cheering up immediately. "Don't worry! I'm going to Heaven when I die! HEAVEN IS ON MY SIDE!-"
Quickly, the speedster shut up as he witnessed what his date just did. With wide yellow eyes he stared at the wings on both sides of him, the wings that looked amazing at this altitude, the wings that were currently saving his life.
"You're an angel... holy shit..." Ozaei said in a surprisingly normal voice, but fear could be picked up in it. "I almost killed an angel... holy shit... but... an angel is my fucking DATE... holy shit... I should probably stop cursing..." Pausing for a moment, he looked back at Haley before squealing, then smirking, his mind telling his mouth to remain shut to no avail. "Did it hurt when you fell from Heaven?" Internally, Ozaei is kicking the hell out of himself for such a lame angel pick up line that made zero sense. "Shit... Okay we need to restart the whole damn date because I was being rude. We obviously need to go faster and launch higher so I can impress you. Let's fucking do it."

[attr="class","Haleyaodmain"]
"That's not how immortality works," she sighed, though she wasn't certain whether she could be heard over the pounding wind or his yelling. Despite the icy air, she could feel her face heating up. She was just glad she didn't actually know any of the faces gaping up at them from below. [break][break] As he started raving about her species, Haley felt a headache coming on. This was going to be a long night. "You didn't almost kill me," she assured him. She'd faced far worse on the battle field, even if she technically stayed out of anyone's direct line of fire. She ignored his pickup line. She could have responded to it, but she wasn't sure it would be easy to explain that she hadn't fallen from heaven because she'd been born on Earth and have him actually hear a word she said. [break][break] "We do not need to do anything like that again," she replied firmly as they made it to solid ground. Maybe skating wouldn't be her thing after all. Even if she could fly, she much preferred to have something solid beneath her feet, especially when dealing with unpredictable balls of energy. "Don't worry, you've already made quite the impression." She glanced around. A few people were watching them, though she couldn't be certain whether it was because of the insane launch into the air, all his yelling about immortality, or her sudden sprouting of wings. She rolled her shoulders back and allowed those wings to fade away. [break][break]
A distraction would probably be useful here. Preferably one that didn't give him any room to launch them back into the air. Fortunately, her time as a ward medic had given her plenty of experience keeping restless people from injuring themselves. "Would you do me a favor?" she asked, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She couldn't imagine her hair was in any sort of order after that experience, but she didn't have a mirror to fix it. "You're an electricity manipulator, right?" That seemed like a very pointless question, but politeness demanded she ask rather than just assume.
The moment they reached solid ground, Ozaei bursted with electricity, so much so it could be seen charring his skin... which is absurdly dangerous. He most likely had internal bleeding damage. Before anyone could blink, he was on his knees in front of Haley, hands crossed across his chest. The skates on his feet were red, but he couldn't feel the heat they were emitting.
"I made an impression on an Angel? FUCK YEAH!" He shouted, already back on his feet doing a fist pump. "Heavenly afterlife SECURED BITCHES." Seeing her wings disappear he settled down and stared at her blankly, his face void of expression. A favor? Yeah he could, but he was more focused on her next few words. A few seconds went by before he produced a smirk that would make the grinch jealous. "Uh, YEAH?! I'm a fucking boss at creative electric manipulation. Watch this my angel from heaven."
Full of confidence, he began charging himself up, his eyes radiating yellow as he focused. What seemed like lightning, but truly wasn't, started to appear from his back and from the ground until soon, he managed to form a set of pure yellow wings made out of static electricity. Laughing like a maniac, he clapped his hands together, pulling them back apart slowly. As he did so, a straight line of electricity formed. Ozaei grabbed it and flicked it above his head, the static line gaining mass and widening out, forming a yellow artificial halo.
"TA-FUCKING-DA! WELL?! IMPRESSED?!" He asked, shouting. Impressing himself with his creativity, he began to explain what he did in a very, very, very hasted voice. "Allrighty my angel miss Haley listen so basically static electricity is an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object BUT I'm a genasi so the thousands of volts produced I can prolong in my body because you know fun fact I'm immune as fuck to electricity boi so I don't gotta worry about shocking myself into cardiac arrest so anyway I take the imbalance and I mold it into whatever the fuck I want using the other three kinds of electricity before- GASP- before whatever it aint important I'll tell you later the tldr of all of this is I CAN FUCKING FLY."
Kicking off on his skates, forwards not backwards this time, electricity blasted into the ground, sending him up a few inches in the air. He hovered there for a bit before falling back to the earth, wings and halo gone completely, burned out. His body should be burnt to a crisp, and internally it was, but he couldn't feel it. Getting back to his feet and brushing his clothes off, he cleared his throat. "Yes. To answer your question." He said calmly, small pillars of smoke steaming from his skin.

There had been times in Haley's long life where she had wished she were a parent. During the time she had been raised, it had been expected that women would have children and carry on their bloodline. She had struggled to believe in such antiquated beliefs, even back then, but it had still felt like something she should so. Being exposed to Ozaei took away any such notion. She had found herself taking care of children before, but none of them had even half the energy that Ozaei seemed to be leaking. [break][break] He jumped from subject to subject so quickly that it was difficult for Haley to keep up. It had to be some sort of talent. Even if it had been a while since she was around such a young person, she was pretty sure they didn't usually act like this. Then again, she knew some ancient people who always proved reckless enough to catch her off guard. [break][break] Of course, no one would be crazy enough to put on this sort of display... right? As she watched him channel electricity through himself to make wings and a halo she almost grimaced in pain for him. "Shit!" she gasped as he finished his display, smoke floating off his skin. She knew perfectly well how overheated a person had to get for that to happen. It wasn't the first time she'd seen someone electrocuted and this was particularly bad. "Are you insane?! How are you not in shock from that much pain?" Her words were laced with shock, but she was already scanning over his exterior, marking any information she might need to help fix him. She didn't actually have any medical materials with her so she'd have to use her abilities, which she preferred to avoid. "Scale of one to ten, how much pain are you in? Oh and how hot do you feel too."
As the questions poured from her lips Ozaei just stared, confused as a deer in headlights before things started clicking in his head. Maybe he was more fried than he thought, but he should heal just fine, right?
"Nah I don't think I'm insane, now my mom? SHEEITT..." he said, immediately thinking about the many troubles he got into in the Dark Market and the punishments a certain woman would administer to everyone but him. "Can't feel pain Angel! Can't feel a goddamn thing!" He proved his statement by, again, producing an insane amount of electricity in his hand and moving it past his chest, right over his heart. More smoke and steam blew through his skin as blood dripped from his lip. He wiped it off, falling to the ground.
"Oh. Well shit. Might've went overboard," the speedster said, having a hard time breathing. Looking to his left, he nodded."Ice cream? They're still open as fuck and as your DATE and the only one allowed to get into HEAVEN it is my obligation to feed you."
