Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
As good of a hunter as wolves were, they didn’t catch prey every time. This was a fact of life Fanaa was used to, a hard learned and occasionally bitter fact at that. It was even a little harder for himself, in that he was without a pack to provide back-up. Most wolves were secure within the confines of a pack, something he has never had the luxury of. Either way he was content with the way things were, living in the wilds with none but his older sibling. The wolf has little in the way of social knowledge, let alone had not been exposed to it to begin with. The less people that intruded in their shelter, the better. It was easier this way, familiar.
Berries really were a last ditch, the portions small and sweet. Even if they weren’t his preference though, sustenance was never something to pass up. The warm of the shelter that was provided was enough to stop the chill, something that would prevent a chill from creeping up. Chills and cold were another thing Fanaa had learned the hard way, the stubbornness is not dropping a hunt kn cold and rain had once before lead to growing sick. It had been a rather unpleasant experience for the wolf, not knowing what fever was or why it felt too hot and too cold at the same time. As many things were, his brother had taken care of the situation then as well.
Slender fingers pause in their plucking of the berries upon his sibling’s return, and for a moment Fanaa didn’t respond. His posture was a little tense, his body language showing clear agitation. Fanaa knew they relied most on what they were able to get with the act of survival, so a failed hunt was something that left him with frustration. Even after living through times where it was harder than it was now, it was something he continually disliked. His gaze fixed on his older sibling, and a low huff left his lips. Fanaa’s face displayed displeasure, the answer gained from that alone was likely sufficient.
”No. Too much rain. Prey hiding.” Short sentences were usually all the wolf could muster, otherwise they start to get broken up and make little sense. ”Have bowl? I put berries in for you.” His brother’s words caught his attention further, and he glanced at what had been brought. ”I like stew.” His tone was appreciative, approving. Stew was much more filling than just berries, so it was a welcomed thought.
Glancing back at the branch as the stew pot was prepared, Fanaa considered the remaining berries. There was actually quite a lot here, easily a bowl or two’s worth. Despite having eaten some already, he had hardly made a dent. He had picked the right branch, and from the right bush. Slender figures begin plucking the berries again, careful to ignore the berries that weren’t as good.
Today was a failed hunt, though the rain surely would bring some good with it. It would nurture more berries to grow, and the bushes probably wouldn’t run out any time soon. In some places there might even be tracks, ones that could lead to prey. Tracks were very easy to follow for the wolf, and were useful in the event that scent was unreliable. If there was anything to be said about Fanaa, it was that he tried his hardest to pull his own weight in survival. If they were to survive properly, he had to be useful.
Holding the plucked berries in his free hand, he paused once his palm had as much as he could hold. It would be better to wait to pluck more after he had a bowl, as there would be more room. Even if his older sibling wouldn’t want the berries immediately, they could be stored properly. Then if either of them wanted to eat them later, they would be fine and not squished or lost. It would also make for more room, as the branch would be discarded outside or used to bolster the fire after it was dried.
The grey wolf lifted his head to glance at the overcast sky, just as the first of many droplets of rain started to fall to the earth. A low growl rumbles in his chest, faint sparks of electricity sparking on the ends of his bristling fur. A hunt in the middle of a downpour would be far more difficult, as the rain would wash away almost all of the scents that he could use to track down suitable prey. It would also mask his own scent, though that wouldn’t help him find prey to begin with.
Resigned to call today more of a lost cause, the grey wolf began to tread the familiar path to what he considered a last resort - when hunting heartier food fell through. Nosing his way through foliage and brush- as quietly and stealthily as the wolf could manage, he eventually came to the clearing where berry bushes grew in abundance. Clamping sharp-fanged jaws around a branch with a good yield of the tiny fruit-orbs, Fanaa wrenched his head from side to side while pulling backwards, the efforts rewarded with the cracking of the branch he held in his jaws.
Keeping his head lifted decently high so the branch wouldn’t drag on the ground and loose or squash some of the precious berries, the grey wolf started to make his way instinctively back home. His pace picked up once he was close enough to see the place where they lived, slowly tricking the door open with a clever working of his paw. Setting the branch on the rough wooden table where it’d be safest, he returned to the outside so that his fur wouldn’t get the inside too wet.
Tilting his head to regard the sky again, the rain was starting to get a little harder. The scent of the rain on a slight breeze, it was heralding the eventually arrival of a storm. It’d be best to wait inside for his sibling’s return at this point, or he’d get too soaked through to be allowed back in. Throwing back his head to loose a howl that meant he had reached home base, as was almost customary for the wolf, he knew that if his sibling was anywhere close to being home, that would have been heard.
Returning to the inside of their shelter, Fanaa allowed himself to slip out of his wolf form. Pulling the hood of the cloak his brother had given him over his face, he sat at their rough table with his legs crossed, beginning to pluck the berries from the large branch he had managed to bring home. It was better than restlessly pacing, and he knew it would prove to be useful, as he could throw the branch outside once all the berries had been harvested from the branch.
Fanaa is best described as tiny but mighty, despite the fact he wouldn’t stand out in a crowd. At a height of five foot five even, and a weight lighter than most at that stature, Fanaa is still nothing to make light of. His frame is lined with lean muscle, trained and strong from a life based on survival. He has hair that is kept short, gray in tone like the fur of his wolf form, and grey-blue eyes. He tends to wear breathable but fitting clothing, also possessing a cloak, and a wolf eared hoodie.
personality
Fanaa is as, true to his title, sometimes more animal than human. He doesn’t like strangers getting into his personal bubble, and when angry is prone to snap, bare his teeth like a wolf, or growl. He also has something of a short temper, an immediate reaction to a perceived threat is to try and maul it so it doesn’t become a danger. He is also somewhat contrary, often saying no just to say no, and is incredibly stubborn, to the point where if he doesn’t want to go somewhere he will have to be bodily pushed. Fanaa is perceptive to if a person is lying, and very slow to trust.
abilities
Natural: Enhanced endurance, enhanced senses, immunity to electricity. Has stopped ageing. Fanaa’s powers go haywire and uncontrollable with high emotions, which sadly enough, is often. Mud restricts his electrical strength.
Electrical Manipulation: Intermediate.
Storm Manipulation: Advanced.
Enhanced Speed: Mastered.
Animal Shift: Mastered. Fanaa takes the form of a classic grey wolf, his coat a patchwork of different greys, with peppering of black around his spine and the top of his snout, and his underbelly being washed in white.
backstory
Faana’s early life was not the greatest, often neglected by his parents, often times treated as if he did not exist. Thankfully the time he actually spent in their care was brief, as he was taken away by his older sibling, Sedge. In a way this has saved him from likely abuse and further issues, however, due to the way they secluded themselves - Fanaa grew up more wolf than boy. Instead of growing up with a large friend group and a digital phone and the internet, Fanaa grew up learning to scrounge and hunt for food, and various ways to survive.
Throw Fanaa into a perilous landscape in a winter storm? Easy. Throw Fanaa into a room with a cell phone and a group of people? Lol no.
Fanaa became an adept hunter, developed a good danger intuition, and a good sense of what was worth the risk and what is not. However, the one variable is Fanaa’s natural territorial aggression as a pack animal. Anyone getting close to the area he and his brother live sets off his protective instinct, occasionally leading to his brother to have to hold him back by the collar of his cloak or shirt.
misc
*Fanaa is an Aquarius. *Fanaa is technologically and socially inadept. *Fanaa, like most with animalistic tendencies, can be very food driven. Use food to bribe him. *Fanaa has developed natural food aggression. Once he either has gotten or has been given something to eat he will snap at you on instinct to keep it. His brother is so far the only one safe from this. *Fanaa has extremely sensitive hearing and sense of smell. *Fanaa is an extremely light sleeper, it is VERY easy to wake him up.
