Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy smirked, knowing she was right. “Let’s do it!” she grinned in response to his bet, but he was already gone. She took off after him, having no idea where the closest food place was and knowing perfectly well that he was faster than her. She’d always been as slow as a slug compared to him.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy was waiting to respond to one of his previous questions when Ozaei’s last statement came, shocking her more than his electricity could have. “Yeah, same here,” she muttered, then grinned. “So wait, you’re saying you missed me? Ha! You do like me after all! No take backs!”

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]"Excuse me!" Amy snapped, placing a hand on her hip, "I'm amazing at hide and seek! You always took a full five minutes to find me." Despite the huge size of the Dark Market, it still seemed like that made her pretty good at hiding. She was, admittedly, much better at the seeking part though.
Amy grinned at Ozaei's sudden change of mood. Finally he was starting to remind her of the kid who had been somewhat like an older sibling, always getting her into trouble. "The plants?" she asked curiously, then her eyes widened as she remembered. "Oh shit! I forgot. I don't know but I can't do that so it was probably just a coincidence."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]Amy grinned as Ozaei agreed to the plan. Good. At least he was on board. "I know," she said. "I'm really good at playing hide and seek, remember?" she asked. She knew she couldn't exactly hide in the back of a random closet until Roami gave up, but she'd figure something out.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]Amy smirked. "Good. Then you never saw me and I avoid Roami and then it will be like I don't exist to her. If I don't exist you can't kill me." she said. "Or, at least, it would be very hard. And she couldn't blame you for it either."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]Amy watched Ozaei's outburst curiously. Was her being a girl really that significant? Her parents had always called her a little girl, so it wasn't like there was a chance she was wrong. Her parents probably knew everything about her. That's what parents were for, as far as she was concerned. Suddenly his energy shifted and she frowned. "You called yourself dumb first," she argued.
"Ok, hmmmm..." she muttered. "Well, that means as far as anyone outside the Dark Market is concerned I don't need to be dead, right?" she asked.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]"Oooooh," Amy said as Ozaei explained. She had forgotten how secretive Madame Dolores was. She had always gotten to speak directly to the Madame whenever she wanted, but that wasn't the case for most people. There were probably some people in the Dark Market that hadn't actually spoken to her.
"I'm not a brain!" Amy objected, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm a girl! I thought that was obvious, you must be really dumb, not 'just fucking dumb'"

[attr=class,Amysidebox][attr=class,Amysidetext]Hope this works!
[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]Amy frowned. "Yeah, I think so," she nodded. Suddenly her hope seemed silly. Dolores was still super powerful. Even if Ozaei didn't kill her this wouldn't end cleanly. She still couldn't believe the Madame wanted her dead. Maybe they could just talk it out?
Her eyes widened as he mentioned his ability to act on Dolores' behalf. "Oh! Yeah, maybe that could help us!" she grinned. "What does that mean, though?"

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] “I never said it was a game!” she snapped. Ozaei was probably right to be upset but she still didn’t like being yelled at. “She’s a terrible person, and I can say that because, fun fact, seers can’t see everywhere at once! She lies to you.”
She shook her head and tried to brush off the anger. It felt wrong yelling at Ozaei when he was so shaken. “There is a loophole, give me a second I need to remember it.” What had it been that scarlet eyed lady had told her all those years ago when she’d first joined the Ravagers and was afraid of what would happen if Dolores found her. “The woman, she said no. She said you can’t hurt me because if you hurt me you’re declaring war on a mafia and you’re just a lackey so you can’t do that without talking to the Madame and by the time you do that I can talk to the woman and she can help me!” she prattled out. “Oh… Except the woman doesn’t work with us anymore. Sooooo I don’t know.”

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy’s eyes widened as Ozaei actually paused. Good. There was a chance this could end peacefully. “Do you really think I could trick you?” she asked. “We both know I can’t lie for shit.” It was sort of true. She could lie when she was playing games, but for serious things like this she could never pull it off.
Any crossed her arms over her chest, but she was still tensed to run if need be. “What happened to the kid that would test all the rules with me?” she demanded. “There’s always some sort of loophole to the things these stupid adults ask. We can figure this out, but not if you want it be boring about it.”

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] If Amy had learned one thing working with the Ravagers, it was that sometimes she needed to shut up and think to figure out the best course of action. She rarely actually did it, but she had been told to enough that in this moment those instincts kicked in. Maybe it had a bit to do with the shock coursing through her too. Was Ozaei crying? That didn’t seem right. She was the one that cried, not him.
She watched in silence as he debated with himself. She backed up as he got closer, but there wasn’t very far to back up before she hit the wall behind her. When he made a move to attack, she screamed and plants exploded from the ground around her, wrapping themselves around Ozaei’s limbs. “Wait!” she snapped. Her hands were shaking. She hadn’t known she could do that. Her control over plants was always unpredictable. Knowing he could probably burn the plants with his electricity, she moved away from him, making sure she was between him and the building the Ravagers were plotting their business in. Maybe if she needed help they’d be an option. “Stop it! You don’t have to do this. You can be a good friend and let me live! The Madame doesn’t have to know!”

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] When Ozaei didn’t snap back in kind, Amy fell silent. Something was definitely wrong. Had he changed that much over the years? That seemed impossible. Something about him looked altogether older, though. Maybe it was just something about other species aging faster than Faekin. She had never really gotten a grasp of how that worked.
Amy tilted her head to the side when Ozaei finally spoke. Something in his voice felt off. But, then, everything about this situation was coated with a thick sense of wrongness. She glanced down at her hands. “Is she really that mad at me?” she asked. “It’s not like I did anything wrong. She said she was going to help me find my sister, that’s the whole reason I was staying with her. All I did was find my sister.” She didn’t notice the tears building up in her eyes. What she did notice was the anger simmering in the pit of her stomach. She thought she and Madame Dolores were sort of friends, but friends didn’t usually try to have eachother killed, did they? And then there was Ozaei. They had their disagreements but would he really kill her? It was all so unfair.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] One of the men was about to respond when they were interrupted by an extremely loud ball of speed. Could it be? No way. But, then again, she only knew one person who was that reckless and quick. Before she had time to fully process, Ozaei had taken out the guys and was standing still. That was weird. She was used to him always moving. Something was clearly wrong.
She stood gaping for a moment. How long had it been since she’d seen him? There weren’t many things she had been upset to leave behind at the dark market, but he had been one of her few friends. Not that they were really friends. He was more of an annoying pest.
Before she could think too much about it, she processed what he had said to the men. “I-I’m yours?” she asked quietly. “What the hell is that supposed to mean? And my hat’s not stupid, it’s adorable. I have matching gloves that go with it but they’re at home. And hey! Why did you do that?! Those guys were about to give me candy!” By the time she was finished speaking, her hands were balled into fists and her voice had risen loud enough that it echoed through the alley.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy was furious. She had delivered a message between a couple of Ravagers and then been told to stay in the area so they could easily grab her when they were ready to send a response. It was so incredibly rude of them! There was nothing to do around here. She had already spent half an hour walking around the small back alleys and she hadn’t even run into anyone she could play with.
It was also too cold. She tugged her hat (a fuzzy lump on her head with teddy bear ears poking out of the top) further down her head, trying to get it to cover her ears more. Instead she ended up pulling it over her face. She huffed and annoyed whimper and then tried again, adjusting her hair under the hat so it would cover her ears. A better hat would be nice but this would have to do. Besides, the hat was too cute to get rid of.
At least the cold weather meant Yule was coming up. She wasn’t sure when it was, but she was still excited. When she was a kid she had celebrated Yule with her family. They would all dance around a bonfire and exchange gifts. She didn’t do anything fun like that to celebrate now. Her sister was always too busy to spend extra time with her and it wasn’t like there were any other Faekin around that would share the tradition with her.
Maybe she could get someone to invite her to one of their Christmas celebrations. Then she could at least get presents and some yummy food. Unwittingly, she started humming Jingle Bells - the one Christmas carol she knew - as she walked.
Suddenly a man stepped out from the shadows. Amy stopped walking and blinked up at him. “Oh good!” she said, “I was hoping someone would be arresting here. I’m bored! Wanna play a game?” She heard movement behind her and turned to see a couple of guys stepping into the alley behind you. “Oh, are you guys his friends? We can all play together! Ooohhh do you have candy? I was told strangers have candy.”

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy felt her cheeks heating up as Ozaei laughed at her. She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him. She could be scary. She could- Suddenly Ozaei had dropped a dead spider in front of her and she yelped and jumped back. “Don't do that!” she snapped. [break][break] “I’m not a pacifist!” she insisted. “And you’ve got the hair all wrong. Here!” she took the pony tails from her own hair and moved to fix Ozaei’s in her standard fashion. “Do you even know how to act like me?” she asked skeptically.
