Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
The dance hadn't been something that appealed to the dragon all too much. A room full of crowded children with the mix of loud music? It sounded terrible! Headache inducing and having to weave through all of his fellow students seemed like a nightmare. There was also the fact Lucas didn't know how to dance. If he attempted... surely he'd only make a further fool of himself. It was a horrible idea all around within Lucas' mind and yet the reason he found himself arriving to the said dance was for just one thing.
To avoid yet another awkward evening of his father trying to interact or make conversation with him. Lucas wanted to hard avoid that entire situation if he could. Something as convenient as a dance for teenagers was the perfect opportunity for the young male to get his escape. Even if it was only for the night. It was a painful place to escape too but in the eyes of the dragon it was far better than the other option. It was why he's able to suck up his discomfort and commit to going.
Lucas was grateful for one of his only friends; agreeing to be the one who joined him at the dance so at the very least... he wasn't by himself. Mythos actually invited him in the first place. He initially intended to deny but upon further thinking and realizing how it benefited him he readily agreed. The dragon's eyes stayed peeled to his partner for the night. He had been nicely dressed up- much like himself (begrudgingly with the insistence of his father). "...that tie looks nice on you, Mythos." He had to lean in close to speak to him over the music.
They currently had been standing in the back of the room away from the dance floor, cups of juice in hand. If they weren't going to dance they definitely were going to take advantage of the various drinks and treats to consume. It was only yet another benefit to making this whole trip worthwhile. "I don't normally wear formal wear like this... It's a bit too stuffy for my liking." He fidgeted with the collar of his shirt. Rather than a tie, Lucas had been wearing a bowtie. He almost came close to wearing a suit jacket but his constant refusal of such prevented it which is how he only wounded up in a nice button up, a bowtie, and some black slacks.
"Have you ever been to like-... a dance like this before?" He's always opted out to skip so his curiosity if Mythos experienced it or not shone through.
The past few weeks had felt like being in the middle of the sea within a vicious storm. A boat which was constantly rocking back and forth to where he inevitably fell off and was beginning to sink. It felt like he couldn't catch a break, he couldn't even breathe anymore. The only thing keeping him from drowning completely was the efforts he put into appearing normal, as normal as one possibly could in this situation. The loss of his mother took a big toll out of him and having to participate in activities like today he did with his grandparents did nothing to stabilize him. Even something like reconnecting with his father after so long... it should've made him happy and yet when he saw his face he felt nothing but a sharp pang of even more hurt.
Lucas recalled waking up this morning in tears and vivid memories of a nightmare where his mother was no longer alive but within seconds afterwards did it dawn on him that it was no longer just a dream, that had been the reality. The realization of that was always the worst since the day he heard the news. Rather than wake up and get ready for the day as usual, he had a new common pattern of spending a good portion of that time tightly clasping his mouth to prevent the sound of his uncontrollable sobs from waking up the rest of his family within the home. It always took a while for him to calm down but the fear of being caught showing such emotions is what made him end up stopping and pushing down the emotions until they suddenly were no longer there.
Getting out of the house while he loved the idea of staying holed up in his room, being able to leave home was oddly comforting. Lucas did all he could to prevent it from being obvious but the young dragon had been avoiding his father as much as he could. At least when he was by himself. His relationship with his father was... iffy. Lucas didn't feel comfortable around him right now. The interactions they've had up until this point while they were all short and to the point, it was also still incredibly awkward. So when he had been called down to be greeted by their grandparents... there was a small momentary feeling of gratitude for him being able to leave, even if it was for a few hours.
Lucas did all he could to play a role of being somewhat happy whenever his grandparents would ask or intercept about places he wanted to see but often times not he drifted off into nowhere. Getting distracted by thoughts that consumed too much of his attention and before he knew it... it was time to return. His stomach dropped and the dread of having to go home returned. Lucas wondered if he could get away with bolting to his room right away but he knew, there was no doubt that they'd be greeted by the one person he really wasn't in the mood to interact with.
His teeth sunk into his cheek, biting down as he slowly stuck close behind Emily. Lucas was grateful she had been the one to speak for the both of them. Lucas did smile even if smiling was the very last thing he wanted to do. His teeth withdraw from the bite, as his lips part and a small "Yeah we're home..." left his lips.

[attr="class","smoll"]Lucas is a small and reclusive male with an often slightly-hutched over bearing. Despite being a dragon and dragons being known as a sturdy and powerful species, Lucas falls under the opposite despite being one himself. His build is slim and almost delicate, it's obvious he puts no efforts to being stronger or gaining much muscle. He has soft and unblemished fair skin with yellow undertones. His cheeks appear to be a bit plump and almost chubby like at times while he has a oval face shape. The most eye-catching thing about Lucas happens to be the pair of his large and colorful eyes. They're joined by his long lashes and thin black eyebrows meanwhile his eyes themselves are two different colors. Lucas has heterochromia; one of his eyes being teal and the other gold. His lips are thin and often taken care of with a handy chapstick. Lucas has messy black hair that stops at the end of his neck, it looks brushed a few times and called good. [break][break] His choice of fashion tends to follow most modern-fashion trends but also a lot of monochromic colors. Often wearing a variety of black, white, or grey tops with a nice pair of dark jeans to go with and either white or black sneakers. He also is fond of wearing various accessories such as earrings, rings, necklaces, chokers, and much more.

[attr="class","smoll"]In his eyes Lucas felt that everything was perfect. That He were born to a home with the perfect parents and a relationship he felt was almost a magical thing. At least, as much as a young child like he was could understand at the time. The smiles they shared were genuine, the love they felt for Emily and Lucas as well but Lucas had no idea just how much of a struggle it was for them between the time they shared as a family.[break][break] The divorce happened around an age where Lucas wasn't really able to understand anything but as he aged he slowly got a grasp of understanding. From how he would often go between where the two would live and it was something he may have gotten used to but something didn't connect. It wasn't until a conversation with friends at school did he bring up his parents being divorced. As well as any child could have explain their outlook on a very serious matter had happened. Words were exchanged about how that meant they weren't happy together, how they didn't love one another. It didn't help when one of the children insisted on showing him with their gift of Psychometry. A memory of their parents bickering, words exchanged that was shown to him left a young and impressionable Lucas... confused and scared. [break][break] The relationship had ended smoothly and his parents got along well. Was it all an act they put on for the sake of his sister and him? Such thoughts basked in his mind for long and never did he bring them up out of fear of what could happen. He only paid attention to the moments where they'd interact, overanalyzing ever little detail. The topic of divorce and what it meant had him uneasy to a point of where he'd go online to look into it more. The further he looked into it the more of a bad effect to him. Love that was once seen as beautiful had become the exact opposite in his eyes.[break][break] Love was scary and he wanted none of it. The image he had of his parents relationship went up in flames and he moved on forcefully pushing down the thoughts that lingered in his mind as a result. Lucas managed to continue on with his life although this fear amongst all other things continued to grow as he did. Though his sister and friends helped distracted him, made him feel happy. His father getting a promotion was a moment of celebration, proudness filled him as he admired his father a lot. His hard work shone through and his accomplishments made Lucas want to be just like him.[break][break]
Everything had seemed to be going great. A point of where finally he was feeling some ounce of genuine happiness but then... a tragic event that would go on to haunt Lucas till present day happened. Having been away from home at the time, with his grandmother of all people. It was happy weekend spent with his family. It wasn't until she had received a phone call. The beaming smile slowly faded and turned into a look of horror. The phone hung up with the click and when she turned to him... he wasn't prepared for the news he was going to hear.[break][break]
[break][break] A few painful months of his father being missing. He started off asking where he was for the longest of time but when his mother couldn't give him an answer, to the look of pain his sister gave him. He no longer asked but instead kept it all to himself. Not having his father around took a big toll on him. Whether it was over the anxiety of not knowing where he was, if he was alive to juggling the everyday stressors of being a child and having to deal with school. [break][break]
His emotions were all over the place; at school is the only time where he felt comfortable enough to let it out. Alone. His interaction with other people ceased, he'd hole himself up in the bathroom during breaks and do nothing but cry. It was the only place he felt he had to express these things. When the day was over, he'd go home and pretend as if nothing happened. As if he had a wonderful day with imaginary friends he'd make up on the spot to make sure his sister or mother wasn't worried. The disappearance of his father shaped him in a way to where he couldn't stand being away from people and yet if it happened... he never would say a thing. He'd just deal with the fallout it made him experience when he was on his own.[break][break] For a moment did things seem to finally turn towards a positive note when he learned of the news of his father being found. Waves of relief, disbelief, and all kinds of shock at him being alive made his worries, his hurt all cease in belief that they will be able to see one another again. Finally they were able to be a family... and yet, it didn't pan out that way. Lucas wasn't able to understand as well as his sister had but when news came out that his father wasn't going to come home and that he was going to move far-- far away from where he couldn't be with him again.[break][break] Lucas wordlessly watched him leave again, as if he never returned at all and it unfortunately had been enough to sever that connection he had with his father. An already damaged attachment was released for his own well being and so in the following years he had relied on his mother and sister the most. Never did Lucas open up to them about his issues but having them around and keeping sure they weren't ever going to up and vanish left him at ease.[break][break] Although those happy days... days of when he finally thought he was at peace, thought to be happy and never have to go through such painful days again passed in an instant. It was an average day for him at school... trying to get through classes when he had been pulled out of classes by the principal, when he noticed the familiar look on his grandparents faces. His heart felt like it stopped after they got home and they learned the passing of their mother. Lucas slowly fell apart, becoming a lot more reclusive and not even responding much unless it was necessary for him to talk. It didn't help that their grandparents couldn't support them and they had to move in with his father.[break][break] Lucas world was crumbling and now he had been placed in the hands of someone who already walked away from him once. He isn't sure what his future holds but Lucas doesn't know whether or not he can handle anymore than what's been dealt already.
