Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Ariel looked down. Perhaps for a devil proper, it was fine. Only mixed blooded demons had animal features. Or so they said. She was young, especially by demon standards, and had been born on earth. Her parents had fought over how she was born the way she was. It was why she had eventually run away.
The flare of power scared Ariel at first, but then it was gone, and the..queen? declared herself equally defective. Not being willing to risk earning the other's ire, she agreed to the company. Before blurting out the reason for her defectiveness.
"I was born with cat ears, instead of horns, despite being a pureblood...."
Ariel blinked rapidly, attempted to stammer out that she was not actually a demon, but then thought better of it, maybe the devil could sense it, and lying might make her angry. Defeated she dropped her head, her ears twitching a bit as they lay mostly flat.
"I am a defective, i have no right to claim my demon heritage." It was a phrased drilled into her by her birth parents. She nodded at the question of cafes. There was a coffee shop that served sweet creme donuts that she enjoyed there.
Ariel was for lack of a better phrase, utterly confused. Who was this person exactly? And why were they so chatty? Also, where was the nearest place to eat...
"I, uh, mmm, No, no i'm not hurt. It, uh, its nice to meet you too?" Devil or Demon kind were not at the top of Ariel's list of favorite races, given her family disowning her over her ears. While most devils and such probably werent judgemental...the higher class ones tended to be...very stiff on their view of what it meant to be proper. She was lost when it came to social interactions with her own kind.
Ariel was exhausted. she was always exhausted, but today it was different. Worse. She was in a haze of desire for her soft bed. she barely registered anything until someone superhero landed right in front of her. She stumbled back, staggering a bit. The other's introduction caused her to blink.
Queen? Roami? What?
"I, uh, I'm Ariel?" She wasnt sure how to react to this, between having just gone 48 hours without a break, and having to deal with paperwork because she managed to blow up a a grain silo while fighting a terror...
A petite little thing, at 5'3 inches, Ariel is often mistaken for someone much younger, given that she is a demon who could live for a thousand years or more, she is in fact, very young. Unlike most demons, Ariel has no horns. Instead she is blessed, or cursed, with cat like ears, in addition to her more normal ones. she has a more conventional demon tail, however she uses a charmed pendant to cast an illusion to make it look like a cat's.

abilities
Gifted: Demon
Hexes: Medium skill, she can cast basic healing hexes, however her real ability lies in pure destructive spell work. Despite her own fear of these destructive powers.
Advanced healing: she can recover very quickly from minor injuries
Flight: Although she does it rarely, she does have a set of small that allow her to fly for very short periods. These wings are in fact better suited to gliding than they are flying.
Fire Manipulation: Low control, high talent. Ariel could make water burn if she really tried, but more often then not, she just makes things explode...she also tends to burst into flames herself when she gets embaraased or otherwise blushes
Darkness Manipulation. High control, low talent. Because it is a very power for her, Ariel can control this one easily. the most she can do is reduce the light in an area to that of dusk, or early dawn.
Possession: She has never been able to possess another being, the limit of her ability in this regards is being able to see through the eyes of an animal she has a close bond with.
backstory
Born to a prominent, nearly royal, Demon family, Ariel was a disappointment from the start. Born without any real demonic features, and with a very small and weak body compared to other demons, she was nearly cast aside, instead she was placed to live with a servant and their family.
Growing up Ariel faced the abuse of the weak. Often called out for not being a 'real' demon. When she was 16, she managed to make her way to a human village. After learning of the Hunters, she wanted so badly to be one of them but felt they would never allow a demon in their ranks. And Besides shes a very poor demon.
Finding someone to make her a small charm, She disguised herself as a a cat shifter stuck between forms.
she was quickly found out, however, respecting her wishes, it has become accepted that she will continue the charade.
Do not use drama to get attention in the chat. Nobody appreciates it.
