Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Zachary had left her room, choosing to wait in the hall a few minutes to see if Desmond would be joining him or staying in the room anyway. As soon as he had noticed Desmond near door before joining him out in the hall, he found himself speechless because he was trying to figure out what to say to him. He couldn't help but glance over Desmond again, finding him as attractive as ever, despite the fact that it seemed that he might have had a long day at work, thanks to his new patient that he had failed to get the name of. "You look nice today." He answered, forcing himself to break the silence. I could have come up with something better than that, now come on Zachary......
He could have smacked himself in the face for failing to give Desmond a better compliment. Oh what I would give for him to overlook the comment and give me another chance to give him a better one. He thought to himself, having gone silent trying to debate on another compliment for his friend. "Would you like to join me in the cafe?" Even that question could have been asked better but he was having a hard time not fumbling with his own thoughts versus getting his comments spoken outloud. He hoped that Desmond didn't have to go back to work, that would suck since he wanted to spend more time with him. He decided to stay quiet, figuring if Desmond wanted to be around him, he would patiently wait to hear what he would say in return.
There was frustration conquering Desmond's mind due to the freshly made revelation of the woman he rescued having no Assembly information. Despite the limit amount of time he worked, the nephilim felt a need arising for a break before attempting to scrounge up another mission. His green eyes trailed around the hallway before landing on Zachary, who he presumed would have left. Already Desmond found himself feeling bashful again, his gaze immediately flitting towards the bland tile floor. There was an awkward silence, the scout becoming clueless on how to break it. Fears about saying something that would make Zachary dislike him were swirling in his head, making his anxious emotions increase. Then the compliment arrived, causing a deep blush across Desmond's face the moment it reached his ears. Failure in the appearance department had been certain to the nephilim, but fortunately his crush still found him attractive. It was incredible to the scout that the handsome doctor would have the benevolence to provide the compliment. Eye contact was becoming difficult as Desmond's heart rate increased.
"Y-you really think so?" He asked nervously. "Th-thank you. Umm..."
There was a requirement in Desmond's mind to reciprocate the compliment that Zachary had graciously given him. Slowly, the nephilim's eyes drifted towards his attractive crush and found himself being mesmerized by the man's beauty. It caused his cheeks to deepen in red before his eyes darted away in nervousness.
"You... look incredible, the nephilim mumbled in return automatically.
The response seemed to flow naturally despite the amount of nervousness in Desmond's emotions. More blush touched the ginger's cheeks as he realized what he has mumbled, his eyes locked on the floor. When the question about lunch arrived it caused the nephilim to look at the handsome doctor in shock. The concept of Zachary asking him of all people to go to lunch was making his heart skip beats in excitement. He attempted a grin, but instead ended up with an awkwardly shy smile.
"Uhh, sure... sounds great," Desmond answered nervously. There was a pause as the nephilim remembered that the angel had been waving at somebody. "Uhhh... is the person you were waving at coming too?"
The scout remained under the presumption that Zachary had not been waving at him. There was worry that perhaps the attractive doctor had a crush on one of the patients or other medical staff which caused Desmond's heart to ache.
Despite not thinking that his compliment had been that great, he couldn't help but feel happy to see the blush forming on Desmond's cheeks. "Yes I do." He answered, confirming his answer from earlier. He smiled at Desmond, not expecting his friend to come up with a compliment as well. The compliment caused his face to blush rate as it flattered him. "Do you really think so?" It was as if he were copying Desmond's question from earlier but he had his own reason for asking such a question. He had reached up to rub the back of his neck nervously. "I only got up a little while ago.... shortly after you got here...." Why did he just admit that? He didn't know why, but he felt a great need in telling Desmond why he asked if he was sure, he was positive that he didn't have bed head but maybe nobody told him even though he tried fixing it? Maybe I should make a pit stop to the bathroom to check my hair.... He thought nervously, only caring because Desmond was right in front of him. He invited Desmond to lunch, wanting to have him around him longer, not ready to let his friend leave just yet.
When Desmond asked if the person he had waved at earlier was coming too, that friendly smile remained on his face as he reached out to tap Desmond on the shoulder. "Yes they are." He answered, teasing Desmond slightly before adding, "I look forward to spending some alone time with you." Admitting his feelings to Desmond had been somewhat hard but now that it was out in the open, he felt like it was easier to breath. He turned to lead the way towards the cafe, wanting nothing more than for Desmond to join him. If I say anything that is stupid, I hope he doesn't judge me too badly.... I've been here so long.... Even though he got a chance to rest up, he couldn't help but still feel slightly drained from having to work over sixteen hours.
The confirmation towards the compliment caused Desmond's cheeks to deepen in colour over the concept of Zachary honestly finding his appearance pleasant. A nervous smile managed to form onto the ginger's lips as he bashfully glanced towards the tiled floor of the hospital. There was a warmth rising in his face over being flattery that his crush was providing him. When he managed to return the compliment, he glanced towards Zachary's face to witness the blush spreading across the angel's face. The spectacle of witnessing the invading blush caused the nephilim's heart to skip a beat, making him memorized by the display. When the question arrived, Desmond could not help, but focus on how adorable Zachary appeared blushing. Even as his crush nervously explained how he had only waken a few moments ago, the nephilim remained fizated on him.
"Of course I do... You always look amazing," he responded without considering his words.
Each sentence had flowed naturally, causing Desmond to sudden glance away, a sheepish look crawling onto his face. The nephilim felt as though he was pushing it. There was silence as the ginger began replaying the accidental scene until finally realizing the words stated by the angel. If Zachary had just awakened from slumber, then that meant the attractive doctor had been here far longer than expected. Worried crossed the nephilim's expression over the concept as he found himself concerned over the man's well-being.
"Wait... you haven't left? Zac... you should really relax more, you're going to get sick at this rate," he stated gently.
There were anxious emotions being generated from waiting for Zachary to answer about the possible company. The gentle tapping caused Desmond's gaze to flit up towards the handsome doctor as he spoke. At first, the nephilim felt crushed over the verdict until he heard the flirtatious follow up. Instantly, the blush became more vivid across Desmond's face at the words that Zachary had stated. This attractive angel has intentions of spending time alone with him, which was causing his heart to flutter with excitement.
"Y-you were waving at me? A-and you w-want to spend a-alone time with m-me?" The ginger asked, nervousness and surprising touching his tone.
An overwhelming feeling of joy flooded into Desmond's body over the notion of possessing alone time with his crush who appeared to have feelings for him. Alas, a nervousness remained as a result of his past experience with love, causing the scout to have emotions of fear towards the idea, however, he still craved time with Zachary. Ultimately, the nephilim followed his crush towards the cafe with a giddy smile upon his face despite the nervousness.
Zachary couldn't help but feel flattered by Desmond's honesty, finding it hard to control his heart beat as it slowly started beating faster. It hadn't surprised him when Desmond had questioned his comment from earlier and he gave a weary shrug. "The other Doctor hasn't arrived yet. I couldn't just leave my patients alone...." Though he wanted to see his daughter slightly more, he didn't have the heart to leave his patients when the other Doctor was supposed to come in and still hadn't yet. "I'll be fine.... as long as I can help them out..." It was a bad excuse but it was what he kept telling himself to keep him going. "I just hope someday Alice will understand." He sighed at the thought of disappointing his little girl. "Thanks for your concern, it means a lot." He gave his honest answer, hoping Desmond would see that he is grateful.
Though it seemed like the subject of his well being had come to a close, a new chapter of having lunch together alone had only just started and he felt like he was winning on flattering Desmond once more. Not that it was a game or anything like that, he was just much more of a fan of flattering others over being flattered. "Yes I was." He knew that he would do it again, any chance to wave at Desmond gave him great comfort. "Yes I would, if that is okay." He would of course wait for Desmond to agree or disagree. The last thing he wanted was to make Desmond feel uncomfortable being alone with him. He was glad to see Desmond follow him into the cafe, slowly walking around before finding a sandwich wrap and a bottle of water. He would wait for Desmond before getting in line to pay for their food.
Concern was obvious in Desmond's green eyes as he walked with Zachary. The dedication towards the occupation was impressive and admirable, but the nephilim did not desire to witness the day his crush could grow ill as a result. The concept of the angel's career making him unhealthy made the ginger feel incredible anxious as he stared with worried eyes at Zachary. When the doctor gave his excuse for staying, the nephilim's eyes softened as he fell silent. Allowing his crush to continue this reckless behavior was a recipe for disaster, but Desmond required a moment to organize his thoughts. His eyes remained locked on Zachary, the thanks causing a minor flare of red to touch his cheeks. Concern conquered bashfulness.
"... Zac, I know your don't want to leave your patients, but that doctor should have been here when your shift was done. You're a single father, you deserve to be able to spend time with your daughter. Alice and your patients need you and allowing people to overwork you like this is unhealthy and you of all people should know that. Please... just take some time off," Desmond pleaded.
Secretly, the nephilim desired to add himself to the list of people who required Zachary, but his nervous emotions made it too difficult for him to mention it. There was hope that the words could convince the attractive angel to give himself time to relax to allow for proper health. The confirmations towards the waving alongside the desire for a lunch date caused the scout to blush immensely.
"... It's fine," Desmond replied bashfully.
As Desmond followed his crush towards the cafeteria, his heart continued fluttering with every step as his thoughts remained occupied with the idea of Zachary desiring alone time with him. The implications it provided left a blush across his face and his eyes to linger towards the floor bashfully. Once they entered the cafeteria, Desmond decided to take a healthier route in hopes of impressing Zachary by taking and orange and sandwich alongside a bottle of apple juice. Naturally, the nephilim usually preferred sweets, but in this situation he wanted to attempt to maintain a good impression. He shortly joined Zachary at the line, finding himself blushing a bit as his thoughts touched the concept of eating alone with him.
Zachary listened to Desmond's answer, though it was true, he couldn't bring himself to leave when there weren't enough Doctors on call when one or two didn't show up on time. He would lower his eyes to the ground as he thought over Desmond's words. "Your right." He wasn't sure if he should mention that the Doctor wasn't normally late, the last thing he wanted was to run the risk worrying Desmond over something silly even though it was possible that the Doctor had an emergency that had kept him away. Who all needed him and yet Desmond hadn't added himself on this list. Maybe he is eating lunch with me to be polite. He closed his eyes as he took a breath, "I'll be lonely when Alice is at school." He took a moment before opening his eyes to look over at Desmond for some reaction. "But time off sounds like it would be good for us."
Since he wasn't sure if Desmond liked him back or not, he told himself that it was towards Alice and himself, though he wished that us would include Desmond as well. Watching Desmond blush was pleasurable for Zachary to see, it gave him a small hope that Desmond had some feelings for him after all. At least he didn't seem to be failing in the flirting department. Once they had gotten their food and had joined each other in line, he went quiet, determined to pay for their food but first it would have to be his turn to pay. The person in front had finished paying for their food and he showed the cashier the food that he'd be eating. Once it was totaled he glanced back towards Desmond with a smile on his face before looking back at the cashier. "I'm paying for his food as well." He quickly handed the debit card over to the cashier just in case Desmond tried changing his mind.
There was an instinctive necessity for Desmond to constantly concern himself with Zachary's health when it was required. It was difficult to resist nagging the doctor about his health, especially considering the extensive nights the dedicated man spent within the hospital walls. The dedication, although admirable, reached lengths of possibly generating sickness or exhaustion in the man he cared about. There was mild relief when Zachary admitted that he correct, but he continued to worry that the advice would not be heeded. As the conversation continued, the nephilim found his heart fluttering when Zachary mentioned being lonely followed by a response that possibly suggested that Desmond was included in having time off. There was faint, reddish blush that painted itself across the ginger's cheeks as he bashfully glanced away in a speechless fluster.
There was attempt to gather courage as Desmond desired to create the possibility of creating a relationship with the angel. The scout's immense fear of love caused a hesitation as he pondered those horrifying thoughts of being used again, but mild tranquility was found as he thought about the angel's behavior. A stern belief that Zachary would avoid accomplishing anything horrible entered the nephilim's mind which returned his voice.
"... Um... I could always come spend time with you well Alice is at school..." There was a mild nervousness in his voice while he spoke. "I mean... if that is what you meant by 'us' or if you simply want someone to spend time with. I mean, I am available!"
The final few sentences erupted from his mouth in a hastily stated, bashful mess. The ginger's green eyes stared at the floor below, the blush deepening in colour. Those anxieties about Zachary disliking him arrived after the quickly thrown words. Wishes were sent about perhaps gaining some conversational confidence around his crush. When Desmond joined the angel at the cashier's counter, he listened while Zachary suddenly stated he was paying for his food.
"Wait, what? Um... You don't have to do that, Zac," he insisted against the concept.
The action was appreciated, but the nephilim did not desire to make Zachary feel obliged to pay for his meal. There was a peculiarly sweetness that Desmond found at the offering to pay; his ex never did that. There was a pleasant swelling in the scout's heart over his crush being willing to even consider paying for the food and it caused Zachary to appear more alluring due to his kindness. He felt flattered from the notion of this wonderful man who managed to capture his wounded heart would be willing to do this minor act.
Zachary couldn't help but feel pleased when Desmond had offered to spend some time with him. He couldn't help but find Desmond's nervousness to be adorable. "Yes to both." It sounded like it was one of the same to him, besides there was only one way to find out if Desmond liked being around him as much as he enjoyed his company and that would be to spend time with him so they could get to know each other better. "Are you sure? Because if you aren't.... I highly encourage a day off." The comment had come off innocent on purpose, trying to hint that he wanted to spend time with Desmond, hoping that work wouldn't get in their way. It seemed only fair that he'd make the request since Desmond had suggested it first.
It wasn't long before it was his turn to pay for his food, he was quick to tell the cashier that he was paying for Desmond's as well. "Oh but I must." He insisted with a smile on his face. It is now or nothing. He took a quick breath before speaking. "I always pay when I'm on a date." Once more the comment was meant to come out as innocent. He wanted to know if Desmond would accept or reject the idea of their lunch becoming a date just like that. The cashier took his card and swiped it, he signed the receipt and took his copy. This was how all of his death went, he always paid for the meal and that was that. Now it is his turn. He thought to himself, waiting to see a reaction from Desmond.
This constant bashfulness being generated from the actions that Zachary made was making it difficult for Desmond to converse with the attractive angel. There were those self-conscious thoughts about accomplishing a task that would make the nephilim unappealing to the beautiful man he accompanied. At the confirmation of Zachary desiring time with him, Desmond found his blush increasing. The red paint had spread itself across his cheeks, even colouring the bridge of his nose and tips of his ears. The traces of a smile touched the ginger's lips as his heart rate skyrocketed at the concept of spending time with his crush. The mixture of emotions was complex, containing tones of thrilling happiness while also possessing hints of fear from memories of his first relationship. It left the nephilim hesitant, uncertain about the route he was willingly taken.
Portions of his heart felt shattered from the experience, while others appeared to be slowly mending resulting in reassuring thoughts that similar would not occur. An deep breath was taken, followed by an extensive exhale to sooth his tense nerves; the topic of love was prone to generating anxieties in the nephilim. Encouragement over taking a day off was given, causing Desmond to gaze towards his crush with a softness in his green eyes. There was a craving for the concept since it provided the opportunity to spend long periods of time alongside his crush.
"... I will, but only if you promise not to be on call either... You need a break, Zac," Desmond answered.
The bargain was a simple request, an attempt to make certain that Zachary got the rest he required. He remained standing in the line with the angel, praying that the man could take his offer. The response to Desmond's assistance to not being required to pay caught the nephilim off-guard. This decision to have lunch together was being labelled as a date, causing the ginger to blush immensely and glance away. A tiny grin crossed his lips over the concept of having a date with Zachary despite the fears that made his stomach churn. Words were beyond Desmond's reach, leaving the nephilim speechless. Years ago when he dated his ex, there was only one instance where the man was kind enough to pay, otherwise the position was swapped. This flattery that the angel provided made the ginger hopeful that everything would play out differently between himself and Zachary.
Zachary couldn't help but feel pleased that Desmond had agreed about taking time off from work too. Not only was he required to take time off but he was banned from being on, on call, too. He closed his eyes before taking a breath. "That one will be hard." He admitted but opened up his eyes again to look over at Desmond. "But for you, that is a deal." He would have to find somebody to cover for him, hopefully no deaths would happen because he wasn't in, but surely a little break for himself wouldn't become too much trouble towards the other staff members. Besides, if it had been anybody else suggesting him to take time off and as well as not being on call, he would have explained the importance on why that would be a bad idea. He was well aware of the importance he held at this hospital, unable to forgive himself if he failed to come in and somebody died when he could have saved them.
He pulled himself from his thoughts, finding that he shouldn't over worry himself on the subject. The rest of the staff would be fine, assuming the doctors came in on time like they were supposed to. Zachary was happy to see Desmond blush to his comment about it being a lunch date. He hadn't corrected him, so hopefully the blush meant that he liked the idea just as much as he had, which was why he suggested it in the first place. After the meals were paid, Zachary walked slowly as if to wait for Desmond to join him so that they could pick a table to sit at. "Where shall we sit?" He didn't mind a window spot, or farther away, all he cared about was sitting nearby Desmond.
There was danger in forcing Zachary to not be allowed on call, but Desmond knew the angel required rest. The extents the doctor went to keep his patients healthy was admirable, but it change the fact that he was a person; somebody who required food, rest and various other essentials to maintain health. There were some selfish desires in the concept, the nephilim craving each minute of his time with Zachary during the break to remained uninterrupted. The mentioning of the notion being difficult generated feelings of worried in the ginger as he grew concerned that perhaps he overstepped his boundaries in the deal. When Zachary's blue eyes gazed upon him, Desmond instinctively glanced away bashfully from his eyes. The statement that followed caused the nephilim's face to blossom with red; his crush would agree for his sake?
As he stood, frozen is place, his heart continued to dance around his chest cavity over the concept. There was flattery in Zachary being willing to agree to not be on call just because he asked. It was appreciated, although, it caused a difficulty in even sparing a glance at the handsome doctor.
"Th-thank-you," he gently responded.
Once the meals were paid, Desmond found himself still flattered over the concept of Zachary being willing to pay. There was a mingling of love-based anxieties and joy, the nephilim narrowly managing to keep himself calm. A silence remained for a few moments, the ginger following his crush, a small grin marking his lips. Gradually, tranquility was discovered long enough to grant him the ability to speak.
"... Thanks for paying, Zac... I really appreciate it," the nephilim said. There was a momentary pause as Desmond scanned the cafeteria. "How about by the window? The view outside is nice, plus the sunlight would be nice and warm."
The suggestion was made in a benevolent manner, Desmond awaiting to hear Zachary's opinion. Considering the angel possessed the kindness to pay for the meal, it seemed fair to allow him the opportunity to say something about the seating arrangement. While the nephilim awaited the response, he found himself giddily smiling despite the anxieties that plagued his mind.
Zachary couldn't help but feel pleased with himself, Desmond was blushing and all he had to do was make his statement. He hadn't expected Desmond to blush from it but he wasn't about to complain either. He couldn't help but smile when Desmond had thanked him, but he wasn't sure what exactly for. He would nod his head, still trying to process his thoughts on what he was going to say to Desmond next. As they moved from the cashier to find a spot, he couldn't help but feel please that Desmond was thanking him for the meal, but he felt like thanks weren't in order, not unless he was to thank him for joining him for lunch or something... perhaps thanking with that mind set would make things weird though so he stayed quiet instead.
His thoughts processed and he countered, "No, the pleasure is mine." He wanted Desmond to know that it wasn't any trouble, he eas pleased to do it. Still searching for a spot, he asked Desmond where he'd like to sit and when his crush answered, the smile grew bigger on his face. "I agree." He liked the idea of Desmond being happy, so he would lead the way towards the table near the window before setting his food on the table. He'd wait for Desmond to take a sit before joining him.
Everything appeared brighter as Desmond remained in his crush's presence. After Zachary declared getting lunch together as a date, his heart was dancing around his chest. Gleefully it would flutter with joy while other instances quiver with a hint of anxiety. Naturally, the ginger remained nervous over the concept of being in a date with the handsome angel. The moment occurred in a majority of his dreams involving the incredible man, even despite Desmond's underlying fear of intimate interaction. A quick glance was taken towards Zachary, the nephilim noticing the smile drawn across his companion's lips. Happiness appeared brought to the angel's day over a mere lunch date which caused a sheepish grin to crawl onto Desmond's face. Bashfully, the ginger glanced away, green eyes locked with the floor. The comment that Zachary said towards paying caused the scout's blush to increase.
"I-it is?" He quietly stuttered out.
Nobody had ever stated that concept to him, thus making the nephilim incredibly jovial to hear it. His heart continued dancing to the serenade that was Zachary's presence. The agreement of the table location broadened the nervous grin that remained in Desmond's face. He followed his crush over, attempting to maintain what defined as normal motion. Unfortunately, his walk remained a hesitant shuffle and his eyes continued staring at the tiled floor. Blood was still rushing through his cheeks to create more awkwardness since it maintained a vivid red blush. When they approached the table, the nephilim took the other available chair which left him facing his crush. A quick glance was taken to the pleasant scenery outside as Desmond attempted to calm his breathing.
"So... what have you been up to recently?" Desmond inquired nervously.
A conversation felt required considering this officially constituted as a date. In order to occupy his anxious thoughts, Desmond began fiddling with the orange peel.
"Yes." Zachary answered, finding Desmond as cute as ever. Oh what I'd give to be able to hug him right about now, but these moments must remain in my dreams. Or at least until Desmond feels comfortable doing so. It took a lot of effort to control himself, finding it painful to not get to hug his crush that he desired in his arms. When Desmond took the seat across from him, he took a seat himself, finally getting a chance to see Desmond's face. He couldn't help but feel flustered by how cute Desmond looked right now, was it really by his doing? He wasn't completely sure, he thought his comments were pretty innocent but if there was a slight chance Desmond liked him too, he couldn't help but desire to see his blushed face more often. He was pulled from his thoughts when Desmond asked what he had been up to recently. "I took Alice to the maze." He answered, shrugging his shoulders slightly.
"I'm glad that she had fun." He couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed that he couldn't say the same for himself, it honestly would have been much more fun if Desmond had been in there with him, but he wasn't about to admit that. "We got lost for a while and by the time we found the exit, she had gotten sick." He paused before adding, "But she is doing much better now." The last thing he wanted was to worry Desmond. "How about you?" He asked, hoping that he wouldn't say anything foolish because he was running on not much sleep. A nurse had walked over to Zachary, "I just wanted to let you know that the other doctor arrived. So thank you for staying as long as you had, Dr. Everett." With a small smile on her face she looked towards Desmond before turning to walk away from her. Zachary nodded his head, the words not sinking in that he'd be able to go home or at least have freedom from work for the day unless he was called back in.
