Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Kina drew the last lines on the blueprint with her charcoal pencil, parts of her fingers and hand smudged or streaked black from her hard work and dedication to her idea. She had been researching this for months and the more and more thought and work she put into it - the more she was certain it would work! She wasn’t sure about costs of what was needed to build it, or even how to build it on her own - but the supplies needed were on a small slip of paper she taped to a corner that didn’t obstruct her plan.
Ignoring the dirtiness of her hands, Kina rolls up the thick white paper blueprint, and glances over at her other crafting desk. It was littered with stuff for the terrarium she was working on, a small deer figurine, and brightly colored pebbles like what was meant to decorate the bottom of a fish-tank. Her laptop was on the corner from where she had done research, the screen long since dark after it had gone idle from not being used. She’d have to clean it up later, especially with traces of pale beach sand still scattered about. That wouldn’t be good if the laptop’s fan sucked it in or something.
Humming to herself she opened her door, carefully but excitedly making her way through the house to find her family. She knew it would be a rather large undertaking - but if they agreed - she would be ecstatic. ”Papa, papa!” Kina’s voice is an excited chirrup of cheerfulness, likely as not pulling at the attentions of anyone who happened to be in earshot. Setting the thick roll of paper down on the table, she unrolled it then, smudged hands using a empty but used cup nearby to make sure the paper didn’t curl up into itself.
”Can we make this? I did research into materials and even made a chart as to what the inside would look like!” What were the plans Kina was so exuberant about? A mini and enclosed butterfly garden. She had noticed a lot of talk about them on one of the nature blogs she followed, and figured she already knew how to upkeep a garden - so that it wouldn’t be biting off more than she could chew. Plus - if they were able to do it right - it could be a really cool place to relax in - and she could probably even put some of her terrariums inside.

[attr="class","cobbody"]The soft buzz of the news channel echoed in the living room as Adonai enjoyed some well-needed couples time. The green-haired father leaned back against the armrest of the couch, a hand on his stomach meanwhile the other around Nitzan's waist. His hand sat on his husbands hip while they laid together, basking in a silent love between one another in their special couples time. Every person in a relationship required whether they had a one child or near a dozen, these moments were viewed as valuable.
In the silence of their closeness, Adonai felt relaxed laying alongside the man he adored most. Some of their children were home, perhaps spending some time to themselves or working on homework. Nonetheless, Adonai craved the opportunity to be around the man he married. Soothed merely by his presence, Adonai softly snuggled his husband, at times affectionately rubbing his hip while they relaxed on the couch. The news channel had a woman telling her story about the uprising of her charity along with their upcoming fall event.
Scare Away Hunger, the infamous moniker prompting people to donate perishable food items for the hungry. The event being announced allowed Adonai to remain comfortable and was a pleasant story to hear. For a moment, the merman's eyes flit back towards his beloved, leaning his head in to kiss his forehead.
"I love you so much," he murmured softly.
Affectionate actions were occasionally spontaneous, Adonai wanting his beloved husband to know the amount he adored him. Only moments later had the merman heard their youngest child call through halls of the house. A soft 'hmm' left the green-haired father's lips as he stirred on the couch. The grip around Nitzan's hip loosened as Adonai adjusted to sit up from his reclined position. He glanced over the couch's backrest, noticing Kina approach, a piece of thick, white paper rolled up in her hands which she carried closer.
Their daughter approached the table, unfurling the paper and resourcefully placing left cups onto the paper. Slowly, Adonai adjusted his position further, sliding his legs from the couch, feet hitting the floor softly. His arm fully released his redheaded husband to glance over the opened paper. Stationed on their living room table, drawn in pencil was an idea so peaceful and serene. An enclosed butterfly garden. Something so incredibly sweet and an idea that brought a soft smile across the merman's face.
"Well, this sounds like a beautiful idea," he began with a gentle grin. "What do you think dear?"
The project would be a larger one, however, something that would fit in marvelously because of the garden filling their backyard. Furthermore, the thought of having a place filled with the tranquil bug sounded stunning and peaceful. After the amount of children they had, somewhere peaceful to enjoy the brilliant wings of butterflies fluttering through their special home. However, before anything else could be decided, Adonai wished for the chance for Nitzan to chime in. As a married couple, their decisions were designed to be made together; or at least with projects that had larger undertakings.

This feeling... it couldn't be anything but pure utter bliss. It was almost as if he was on cloud nine, or at least what he'd envisioned it to feel like. His eyes glanced between the television and his husbands face but more times often not did they focus on Adonai's features. Nitzan was enamored with the way his husbands hand rubbed his hip, such a simple touch and yet it filled him completely with a sense of warmth none other than only his husband could accomplish. The chatter of the television buzzed on in the background and while he listened in from time to time, his attention lingered mostly on his husband. There's a content sigh leaving the Oni... both of them had long work days with constant interaction with their kids. The presence of the children did bring him joy but moments where the two were able to soak up another's love for another like this was as much appreciated for the red head. [break][break] It was by chance when Adonai turned his gaze back to him in the same moment he had turned to look back at his husband, their eyes locked and the kiss to his forehead that followed made his lips tug a bashful grin as a hum rumbled out from the back of his throat. The loving act makes him feel a sense of euphoria, as if he almost feels woozy on all the love lingering between them. The tension was nice and hearing him murmur those sweet words had his arms squeezing him tightly.[break][break] "I love you too..." His cheeks are lightly flushed but he can't help but let out a small giggle. Hearing him say that always filled him with giddiness. To be loved by Adonai was the best feeling in the world. Such a moment lasted for long but the sound of his youngest voice calling out from a distant hall in the house had his head turning to look in the general direction it came from. It wasn't unusual for times like this to be interrupted and Nitzan minded not one bit.[break][break] Nitzan adjusted his position as the sound of his daughters footsteps filled the room. A soft quiet sound of him clearing his throat as he leaned forward to look down and pay attention to whatever Kina wished to show the both of them. Nitzan couldn't help but stare in awe and crack a grin seeing his daughter so excited and passionate about something to a point of where she went out of her way to do the extra research. Her efforts showed that clearly this wasn't something she thought up on a whim. [break][break] His finger gently taps the paper. "I think it's a nice idea. Kina has also shown with her work here that she's put effort into learning how it works..." Although neither Adonai or Nitzan knew a thing about it. It looked like a big project from the sound of it but if she's able to successfully guide the both of them into making this a reality...[break][break] "I think the best way to start figuring this out in full is explain to us in the best way you can about how setup works, wouldn't you say... Adonai?" His head turns to look at his husband, his smile only widening. "If we're making this happen we oughta know all the details so we don't mess up."

For all her eagerness and excitement, Kina was still quite messy. She often left materials for her terrariums and other crafts left strewn around her room and other places in the house, unless gently reminded to make sure it was all cleared up or put away. These moments were more of the rule than an exception, her hands smudged from her charcoal pencil and her crafting desk left littered with supplies and decorations. Thankfully the worst of her smudging fingerprints were on the back of the thick paper, instead of her carefully drawn blueprint lines.
Her pale green eyes were wide and excited, almost seeming to sparkle with the force of her euphoric mood. The sketched lines were delicate but designed, lots of effort put into making sure they didn’t look wild or poorly thought out. Hours and hours had been absolutely poured into the structure depicted on the paper laid out for her parents to see, preceded by days of research and videos.
The video that had sparked it all was by a chirpy bright nature blogger, who had shown off one that she often hiked to visit. The butterflies were vibrant and seemed happy, some even occasionally perching on the blogger’s hair or hand. When she looked further into other nature or craft blogs - butterfly gardens were an absolute hit for many different reasons!
From their pleasing aesthetics for photos complimented by the delicate winged butterflies, to the learning experiences that came with caring for something alive and breathing. Kina always adored crafts and the outdoors - so the fact she became curious and later consumed with the idea would surely be to little or no surprise. It was still a big project, but she was lucky to hear that it might become a reality.
She beamed at the words presented, her smile and cheer easily infectious. Her work and care in creating this blueprint had been noticed, and a sense of pride blossomed in her chest. No matter what, she really did have the best parents! She wouldn’t trade her family for anything, as she loved each and every one of them with her whole heart. She nods excitedly, remembering all the instructions and requirements for one to be successful. ”There are also certain flowers butterflies like more than others! Did you know that? Kind of like how we have favorite foods!” Her voice is light but loud, her excitement clear.
”They like marigolds and asters! I think they also like sage. They also need water so I made sure to put a small water fountain in these plans.” A delicate finger gently taps a lopsided looking fountain, though she had done her best in drawing it. If it hadn’t been recognizeable before, it was now that she had pointed it out. ”I promise that I’ll work really hard too!”

[attr="class","cobbody"]Children always arrived first in Adonai's mind, the gaggle of youthful faces welcomed into their life being vivid memories. Though the herd resulted in hardships gaining couples time with his husband, Nitzan, he would trade anything to care for his family. Everything he wanted was family, and sharing in those ambitions with his husband only made the green-haired man happier when these small interruptions happened. Further fueling those threads of joy was the reasoning behind his daughter's interruption, for its representation was beyond valuable.
Interruptions related to projects exhibited initiative and allowed for the instilling of positive ethics alongside the representation of growth. Despite at times missing the days of their youth, Adonai admired the ever-moving cycle of growth within children. As their personalities formed into their own and their sense of person grew in adamance and power. An action simple and accomplished by many in their day-to-day life reached beyond speakable amazement when the subject of the action was one's child.
An untamable sense of pride would mingle alongside astonishment as he observed the children he raised with Nitzan grow. He craved the opportunity to cherish every precious second with his partner. They were teammates in the endeavour of parenting, and the thought only increased the nirvana. Thus, as he watched carefully etched lines compared to their youngest daughter's regular across the large paper, it amazed him. A soft smile played across Adonai's lips as his eyes fully drank in the details of the blueprint, his ears listening to Nitzan.
"Indeed," he responded. "And this shows a lot of thought, Kina."
The cheerful voice of their daughter bounded into Adonai's ears. The merman's eyes flitted between Kina and the blueprint sprawled over the table. The amount of dedication given to the notion of a butterfly enclosure was exhibited with the amount of research placed into it by Kina. Her expanded knowledge was exhibited with the facts she provided about butterflies and their preferences and needs. At the sentences, Adonai nodded, soaking in the words stated by their youngest daughter. His eyes shortly returned to the blueprint.
"I see. So you looked a lot into what the butterflies would need," Adonai smiled softly at Kina. "Is there a certain area that would be best for them, Kina? And what materials are safe for them to be around?"
The amount of effort placed into the butterfly garden was evident. Yet, there were additional requirements at times, such as additional setting or environment needs as opposed to the basics. Though, with the thought in mind, visual a possible location would become easier to dedicate a small portion of their yard to the specialized garden. Though, the enclosure would be the more difficult portion. They would certainly be capable of accomplishing the task, but nonetheless, it would be a rigorous activity.
