ronin ridyr tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance Unremarkable is the best word to describe the young Ronin Ridyr. Holding the average height of most males, 5’9”, and a fairly slender body, he is nothing anyone would call impressive. His arms are thin, however, lack any lankiness and manage to stay proportionate to his body. Similarly, his legs and torso hold a lacking in muscle, granting Ronin a more slim and even somewhat twiggy appearance. While he is flat-stomached, a simple glance beneath his shirt reveals nothing considerably impressive for one to lay their eyes upon. Fortunately, his severe lack of muscle can be easily hidden beneath his favoured type of clothes, allowing him to live the illusion. The complexion of his skin is relatively fair, however, notably leans more to the paler side of the spectrum. Never has Ronin believed anything valuable exists in the qualities of his face. From the traits of his parents, Ronin is known for having sharper facial features. Cheekbones resting high upon his face creature slender cheeks matching his thin body. These lead down to a slender jawline heading down to a pointed chin with a slight curve. From his face stems a slim, pointed nose of average side and a slight upturn. Flowing from his head are messy locks of black hair which lack proper order or tidiness. No matter the actions Ronin appears to take, his hair tends to become a tangled mess in the end. Peering from the messy bangs of Ronin’s hair are striking silver eyes hinted with soft tinges of blue. The colour is barely noticeable unless examined closely by another individual. Expensive or well-known clothing never touches Ronin’s closet, rather, he prefers the comforts of casual wear. From plain shirts to mere graphic t-shirts, Ronin is not picky so long as the clothes are not overly pricey. This being said, Ronin has some acute preferences in wardrobe that are noticeable to those who spend more time with him. During the summer months or beneath his sweater, Ronin is prone to wearing t-shirts opposed to long-sleeved shirts. Around his head at all times are his goggles, which he enjoys using when speeding through the air. Whenever possible, Ronin enjoys wearing his favourite blue jacket, however, this is frequently in times of leisure. During work hours, Ronin can always be caught wearing his TRS mandated uniform. Extending from Ronin’s back when manifested are a pair of large wings. They are black in colour and feathered. Many discover they are soft to the touch. Due to their side, Ronin can hide himself inside of his wings. personality
abilities Minor Darkness Manipulation -- Intermediate The ability to accomplish stricker or small shields for his darkness manipulation because it is minor. At most, Ronin can make small strikes of darkness that last for a minimal amount of time. Frequently, he uses his darkness manipulation as a small push rather than a proper attack or shield. If he is working in the evening hours, Ronin will use this ability because he is unable to create darkness naturally. Minor Light Manipulation -- Intermediate The ability to accomplish stricker or small shields for his light manipulation because it is minor. Similar to Ronin’s darkness manipulation, he is merely capable of small strikes because his light only lasts for a small amount of time. He can accomplish small pushes rather than proper attacks or shields. Rather than use this during the evening hours, Ronin uses this in the daylight because he cannot create light. Hexes -- Intermediate The ability to use special circles of chalk or blood to accomplish varying effects. For the most part, Ronin can accomplish minimal things with his hexes. His teleportation is by far the best, reaching advanced level, however, everything else leaves Ronin an intermediate at best. He can teleport with this to the full 3 mile radius and accomplish this in a chain if he keeps drawing hex circles. He can do this 5 times before tiring. Rarely, Ronin uses healing hexes because of the blood requirement. When he does, it is animal blood and only capable of healing minor wounds. He is completely unable to use disguise hexes, making them useless. Sight hexes, Ronin requires a clear vision of the individual he wants to see, making it impossible for him to witness a future event. Summoning hexes allow Ronin to summon medium size creatures with them being 2 creatures. Most hexes leave him relatively exhausted with the exception of his teleportation hexes. Blessings -- Beginner The ability to bless others, giving them minor effects to assist them. Never has Ronin been capable of getting the hang of this magic. He labelled it as stupid and useless, when in reality he leans towards being salty in regards to his incapability. Trying a blessing will leave Ronin exhausted, the magic fizzling out in a meagre 20-30 seconds rather than accomplish anything of significance. At most, Ronin uses these in emergency situations against hell species that get sick from hexes. Wing Manifestation -- Mastered The ability to spawn wings from one’s back in order to fly or use as protection. The primary use of Ronin’s wing manifestation is in order to fly. As a scout, the young man is expected to be quick moving and capable of surveying the general area. Due to his love of being on flight, Ronin is capable of spawning his wings in about 10 seconds. These black wings allow him to fly faster than his running capabilities, the young man capable of swooping and diving down from the skies without hesitation. Although, should his wings receive a devastating injury, it would hastily ground the young man without hesitation. These abrupt shifts would result in Ronin suddenly crashing into the ground, leaving him rather scraped up. This will result in Ronin being unable to summon his wings for days. In moments of severe drowsiness, Ronin will have troubles summoning and keeping his wings summoned. Hence, when Ronin Ridyr was born, he would bear the heft of constant expectations. A burden high for the parents who craved the attention and requirements landing directly on the young boy. Since his youth, Ronin felt the pressure being exerted by his parents. Through his toddler years, his parents insisted on Ronin receiving constant lessons. They desired a child capable of accumulating vast wealths and honours. Thus, the education began well before Ronin was ready for intense mental challenges. They drilled him harshly, the people pushing him to receive a powerful education. Although, through it all, Ronin rarely received praise for his achievements, for being a regular child more focused on playing rather than accumulating intelligence. Ultimately, it made Ronin’s emotional placement a sorrowful existence. Never was he considered good enough for his parents. Somebody unable to prove themselves as capable even when he accomplished an advancement beyond his youth. From the beginning he felt worthless and frightened about what the future held and rightfully was. His childhood was littered with his parents wishing for more and him vying for their attention. He remembered how occasionally he received 90s on his tests and would proudly turn them in to his parents. Yet, to his parents it compared nothing to the triple digit total to his parents. They scolded him plenty, telling him ‘This is not good enough!’ before sending him to his room. When those words breached his ears, Ronin always found himself bawling while his parents shouted to suck it up and get studying. Frequently, Ronin would find himself scared to attend school because of the harsh words he received from his parents. They provided their negavistic opinions in meagre seconds, which left him hollow and unable to maintain self pride. Every day, Ronin pushed himself to receive the best grades possible in hopes of satisfying his parents. However, Ronin’s intelligence never reached 100% scores. He was an average child and despite the intense studying sessions, those high grades became a rarity. On the rare occasions he managed to pull off a perfect score, his parents would angrily snark him about maybe keeping it this time. It left Ronin’s heart shuddering in response to the harsh criticism handed by his parents. Nothing felt like an accomplishment, rather, the fallen angel felt he was always wrong. He always attempted to keep things up, but Ronin would discover himself slipping back down in scores and receiving those malicious words. Due to the situation surrounding his circumstances, Ronin struggled to create solid friendships between him and his other students. Upon his entrance to high school, things only worsened for Ronin. Thoughts of post-secondary schooling came into play and Ronin discovered himself enamoured with crime and psychology. Yet, through it all his parents lacked support over what he wished to receive from post-secondary schooling. On several occasions, they outright told him he would never survive college or university. They informed him his meagre grades were meaningless and bound to leave Ronin struggling through college and university. Despite his grades being reasonably high and his capabilities endless, it smothered the flames of improvement for Ronin. He felt worthless, only ever receiving validation from his peers and teachers, but it meant nothing... What mattered were the opinions of his parents and in their eyes, he meant nothing... Through the trials and trepidations of puberty, Ronin discovered himself struggling. Speaking a word of his changes to his parents felt impossible after the sheer amount of pressure they placed on him. They wanted the perfect son, not a problem starter. Therefore, Ronin quietly went through it, learning with the provided classes rather than anything else. He would figure it out himself and struggle through it... A word was never spoken, a quiet suffering through the strange changes and attempts to understand proceeding, but hindered by the pressure exerted by his parents. The constant requirements to study left Ronin’s experiences during puberty stifled, however, he eventually figured the basics out through personal research rather than the assistance of his parents. As graduation approached, Ronin’s confidence in attending post-secondary schooling was nonexistent. The critical words of his parents left him frightened about the possibilities of failure or furthering the worthlessness and stress he felt through his entire life. In an abrupt decision, Ronin decided that after high school, he would join the TRS which his parents quietly supported.
