Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Dante had been tracking his followers near Canada, and had tracked one to this city. He wasn't sure who it was that was here, but he had hoped that it was Natasha. She had been caught in his mind ever since the group had been split apart. His thoughts echoed through his head as the sound of his armor clanging as a terror began tried to pierce his thick armor. Three terrors. Not particularly hard when they were going to have trouble piercing his armor. He swiftly sliced one with his sword, using his extreme speed to dash through the first terror and onto the second one. He tripped up a bit as he tried to slow down to turn, but was able to correct himself. He made wearing armor seem like nothing, although he was definitely slower for wearing it, but his great strength counteracted the negative effect of the armor. The terror darted at him, trying to pierce his armor. Dante brought his sword up and pierced through the terror. "Take that you filthy terror!"
He brought his sword up slicing the terror in two. He made quick work of the terrors, however a higher tier terror made it's way towards him. Dante groaned. "Where's the TRS when you need them?" He dashed at a slower rate toward the terror, slicing across the terror's mid section and stopping. The terror took this moment to attack. Dante could actually feel this attack through his armor. He winced slightly as his brought his sword up lobbing off the appendage that dared touch him. "Is that all you got!" He yelled in a regal tone. He dashed with extreme speed thrusting his sword into the terror and black liquid splaying out all over his armor.
The creature ended up falling to the ground, Dante breathing a bit heavier now. "That was nothing, evil always falls to my blade!" He pulled his blade from the terror, and put it in its sheath. He sighed looking at a small crowd of people that gathered around him. "AH! Hello, those terrors won't bother you again!" He called out to the people watching him, who previously were fleeing. They were probably a little surprised someone who wasn't in the TRS was attacking terrors. Dante asked a few people. "Hey you wouldn't happen to know where the closest church is would you?" One of the bystanders replied. "Yeah it's right over there," He seemed displeased for some reason. Dante smiled, although it was unseen under his helmet.
He made his way to the church, his armor filthy from the fight he was just in. He opened the doors to the church aggressively almost as if he stated. "I AM HERE" and he walked confidently up to the front pew in his armor. He wasn't silent either, the armor made all sorts of noise. He made his way to the first pew and knelt down in the armor. He began to pray at the alter praying for good luck in combat, and to fell his enemies swiftly. It took him a few minutes of prayer, but he stopped someone with what he assumed to be a lovely woman catch his eyes. Dante loved spending time at churches back in the day, they let him wash his armor there, stay there even, he often volunteered around churches, so he was more than happy to spend his time at churches. He wondered if this church would be as friendly as the churches in the old days.
[attr="class","rmtext"] Her eyes are unable to not be lured to the boisterous man who had just entered the church with a rather loud but hearty greeting. She had been tending to the usual rounds throughout the day so she had been much focused into her duties but such a loud resounding voice was enough to capture her attention. It's not often the folks around here were a bunch to be so loud within the church. Knowing that often times not, it was considered a little rude but Lia in all honestly, didn't mind such display of passion. It paint a lovely first impression for the kind of person this man may be.
Her hand moved up to cover her mouth, biting back gentle laughter as she kept her attention on the obvious newcomer. It's not soon after did she manage to capture the attention of this charming knight. Their eyes locked but she severed it to give the best smile she could conjure all while bowing politely."Hello!" She paused as she went back to standing straight. "You are definitely a new face around here! I welcome you to our church here." Her head tilts, eyes focusing on the dirty armor of his.
"Oh my... I hope you don't mind me asking but are you alright? Your armor... are you injured anywhere?" She was plenty capable in treating wounds if he had any.
Dante looked at the woman up and down, thankfully his helmet hid his eyes quite well. However it wasn't much hidden to be frank considering the helmet had to move up and down for him to be able to see anything. He stood to his feet, he had already stopped his prayer. Walking over to the nun he brought a loud and booming voice, with regal tones. "Hello Lass, it's a pleasure to meet you!" He bowed to accompany her bow. "I am Dante Xelith, a wandering knight." Dante used to belong to a guild of knights, but that guild had long since been terminated. He frankly built his money on doing odd jobs for people, but even that was scarce. He didn't eat well, he refused to take up any proper work like with the TRS until he at least found Natasha.
He pulled a rose from his satchel, which they even seemed freshly picked, the thorns still on them. He used his armored gauntlet to run his hand on the thorns de-thorning the thing swiftly in front of the nun. He pulled out a single red rose, although the satchel was open long enough for a peer inside, this satchel was full of nothing but roses of differing colors. "May I please have the name of someone as beautiful as yourself?" He spoke in a regal tone, and reached his hand out to her holding the rose.
"This is for you my dear," He looked down while holding the rose, getting a good look at his armor, and groaned. "I do believe I am in fine shape, however my armor appears to be dirty. You wouldn't mind if I spent some time here at the church? I would like to clean my armor, and possibly find some work, or volunteer for the church if possible." Dante looked at her curiously. He did have a bit of bruising on the inside of his armor but nothing serious. "You wouldn't be able to help me with my armor would you?" He was perhaps being a little bit flirty here.
"You see the armor is quite difficult to get off by ones self, an extra pair of hands would be quite appreciated. Then I could clean, and service it" It was the truth, and although Dante didn't ask her yet he had fully planned on spending a night or two in the church. He had spent plenty of time at churches, although if he was unable too he would have to make do in sleeping in his armor again, he needed to save his money. Although this did leave him with bags under his eyes, thankfully hidden by the helmet. "Oh yes, I need a place to stay for the night. You wouldn't happen to have an extra room available? I've stayed in many a church in my travels."
[attr="class","rmtext"]Her hand gently waved him dismissively. "No no! The pleasure is all mine, you see? Thank you for stopping by the church." New faces were a rare thing around here. Most than often not the people who came and visited were those who had been already well acquainted with the church for some time now. Dante was a well appreciated surprise. "A wandering knight... I hope your travels have treated you well, Dante." A very respectful man had graced himself within the presence of herself. Her hand gently moved to cover her mouth as she laughed softly. His attempts at flattering were sweet and she did consider herself convinced.
The beautiful rose that had been held out to her had her eyes paying close attention to it. Her hand gently reached out to take the flower from him and gently had she brought it up to her face to smell briefly. "My my... to give a lady a rose. A charmer aren't you, Dante?" Though the gesture of flattery obviously made her happy. The nun rarely saw such advances in her day to day life nowadays so this kind of treatment was a nice source of positive amusement. "My name is Lia Everhart! Once more do I welcome you to our church here..."
She moved to settle the rose within a nearby vase she had settled atop one of the wooden tables within the room. "I don't mind assisting you with taking your armor off but I do need you to guide me. It's my first time doing so and I wouldn't dare want to mess anything by being inexperienced." She had walked back over to him in preparation. It wasn't unusual for travelers to request stay and at the trade off of helping out around the church? There was no way Lia would deny such a request. Lia while she had been a hard worker there were a handful of tasks she wasn't able to do all on her own so the offer of aid was much appreciated.
Her head nods eagerly at his words. "I'm relieved to hear that but we do have extra rooms. So that request of yours is perfectly fine! I'll definitely be taking you up on that offer of yours." Lia paused to think. "What do you think of children, Dante?" Perhaps she can convince him to interact with the children at the orphanage? They always responded well to new faces and Lia wished for nothing more to bring smiles to the kids she cared for faces.
Dante was happy to at least get a smile or two out of the lady. She seemed to enjoy her work, and that very much made Dante enjoy his company around her much more as well. Dante loved hard working people, and gave them much more respect. She seemed to run the church with efficiency so far as he could tell but really he didn't know much as of yet. "Do you have a preference in color?" Dante asked curiously. "In roses I mean, I do have various kinds. If you would like more?" She seemed to enjoy the rose much more than others he had come across, so he felt a bit boisterous about speaking up on his rose collections. When she spoke about hoping his travels had treated him well Dante stopped momentarily.
He kept silent for a moment. Dante was under an oath of truth, which meant he couldn't lie. This gave him some interesting quirks in certain conversations whenever he wished he could lie. "I'd be lying if I said that it was all roses and daisies." He spoke honestly, and with a loud booming voice. "It's certainly harder as a knight in these modern times, without a guilds backing making funds can be quite difficult. And hunting, and acquiring rations, much more difficult than in the knight's prime time." Dante unhooked his sheath, with the sword still in it, holding it in his hands. "There have been good times too though, these times just seem particularly rough, but nothing I can't handle of course." Dante smiled smugly but it was hidden beneath his helmet.
"Charmer? Some would say so..." Dante couldn't lie about loving the female attention, but he could downplay it. When Lia introduced herself Dante smiled, reaching up over his head and grabbing at his helmet. Now that she had introduced herself he felt much more comfortable showing his face to her.
He was much more soft looking than one would expect, with short, and almost golden yellow hair. He was quite the looker in most regards. Holding the helmet in one hand, and the sword and sheath in another. He spoke up. "Where should we go to store this equipment? I'm sure you don't want anyone getting a hold of my weapons." Dante wanted somewhere at least somewhat secure for these things. When she brought up her inexperience Dante smirked. "I can teach the inexperienced no worries, I've trained many a squire in my day!" He huffed. "It's very simple, you start with the strap under my right shoulder plate, and loosen it. That'll create some slack in the armor giving you access to my back straps. Then take those off, I can do the rest."
Dante smiled with a big grin, he was happy to be under a roof. "What do I think of children?" Dante's smile faded a bit, showing a bit of horror in his eyes. "I've been duped by many creatures masquerading as children, but frankly I get a long well as long as they are behaved. I have smacked a child or two if they get out of hand though." Dante shrugged. "That's quite rare, but, otherwise I enjoy spending time with the younger generation." He groaned. "These children are well behaved?" He asked his regal tone coming back a bit stronger.
The offer of more earns a small bout of chuckling to rumble up and out of her. Her eyes pass him a teasing glance as she softly hummed out her response in amusement. "My, my... offering me more flowers? They do say it's a way to a lady's heart but I'm quite satisfied with what you gave me personally." Her head turned to look back at the vase she had placed them into. A small pleasant smile donned her lips. "It's much more sincere that way, don't you think? You picked this rose in specific to give me so I'll stay with that."
Lia went silent as he carried on with his story, her head nodded in acknowledgement. She understood how times were changing and a lot of old methods of fighting or how crimes were dealt with had been rapidly improving. The need of knights were diminishing and yet Dante's own passion as his duty of being a knight seemed to remain. It was something she could respect him for. Admirable how he continued to pursue the career despite it's difficulties. "Perhaps you can look around within Lorsette? Surely, some kind of guild is ought to exist." She pauses, an idea coming to mind. "If I ever face any trouble I also don't mind hiring you. It'd be a shame if you were unable to allocate enough funds for yourself to live."
Lia was someone who always threw her support out there even if it wasn't always necessary needed but she hated the concept of someone struggling all on their own. Dante's spoke enough to let her know that he still got it but it wouldn't stop her from throwing out the comments she did either. The conversation carried along and her smile widened with the next comment. "I can see where they come from!"
It was a surprise to see him rid of his helmet but the lovely face which revealed made her stare silently. Such a soft appearance was not what she had expected; his voice suggested the opposite but the more she looked, the more his manly tone matched up. Would it be too much to compliment his appearance? She argued with herself in mind and had eventually settled with remaining silent. She had much more important tasks to get to, ones that didn't involve her silently appreciating his good looks.
"We have a room in the back that's only accessible by lock and key. Let me take you there and we can remove your armor at the same time." Her hand motioned for him to follow as she began to walk and listen to his explanation of removing his armor. It sounded easy enough so she had some faith in her now. "Mmm... thank you for that wonderous lesson. I'll be sure to not disappoint you then." Her hand reached into her garments to receive her keys. A small key was retrieved as she had pushed it into the knob, turning and unlocking the door with a click. "After we remove this armor... I'll show you the direction you can clean yourself up."
She pushed open the door revealing a nicely furnished room with various miscellaneous items stored within it. Her had beckoned him closer as she silently listen to him speak. It was a conversation that started off well... until he mentioned slapping. Her eyebrow raised silently and for a split second her expression darkened. "I have an orphanage I established for the sake of giving them a better life." Most of the children she took in came from troubled homes, one where abuse and various cruelties were common so the mention of slapping them around didn't sit well. "Times are changing... I assure you I try to instill good behavior into all of the kids in my care; but if you are unable to talk through their issues with them over laying your hands on them..."
"Then perhaps it's best if I assign you duties unrelated?"
Dante listened to her explain her reasoning for wanting only one flower. He shrugged. "Less is more in some cases I suppose." He listened to her first question, about their possibly being another guild. "Sadly I am in search of a few people. I can't commit myself to a new guild until I have found them, or at least a semblance of their remains." He continued on. "However I could join the TRS once my search has been finished, I hear they like to have strong capable people." Dante knew it would mean joining an organization from the ground up, but he was fine with that. His deeds weren't really known too well these days anyways, so it was time to make a new name for himself right?
"As long as they allow me to fight with my blade I am sure I will still be happy.""And of course I'd be willing to help you, even if you had no payment to offer." Dante assured her he wasn't in the line of work for any type of money. It was pretty evident considering how he lived anyways. He had a time where he made plenty of money. Still had some gold of old, probably worth quite a bit, but he was dense and didn't want to convert it.
When she said she could see where they come from Dante kept quiet and simply continued on with whatever else relevant. He didn't want to try any sort of attention to the type of mischief he tended to get into. The room became quiet for a spell, but Dante's confidence didn't wane. He stayed strong and resolute standing tall and still until the quiet moment passed. When she informed him of the room, accessible only by lock and key, Dante smiled.
"Yes that area sounds wonderful, let's head there. It will be perfect to keep children at bay from the weaponry."
Dante continued on to tell her how to removed the Armor plating, where the straps were located, and how to remove them. He could do it himself, but it was difficult and took a long time. A helping hand was really appreciative. He had slept in this armor before, and it was not comfortable.
"Ah Yes, I have been on the road quite a while so I can't wait to be squeaky clean." It wasn't as if Dante was super dirty, he could stop at places to bath, but sometimes that was far in between. Not everyone took kindly to a man dressed in armor. Lia pushed open a door leading to a generally well furnished area. He walked into the room, following her when she was ready. When they spoke about children the air of the conversation seemed to change, and generally turned sour, at least coming from Lia she didn't seem to pleased with his words.
Dante found the best thing to sit down at, in order for Lia to help with the armor. And he spoke, his regal tone fading to a more careful and attentive one. "I'm sorry if I upset you, really in most cases I would say putting a hand on a child is a bad thing." Dante didn't look her in the eyes when speaking these words. "However sometimes you find yourself in a situation where a child can be.. troublesome. Like on a battlefield, or hiding from soldiers. The cries of children possibly leading to a very.. negative outcome for more than one person. Please understand I do not hit children willy nilly. It is for the most dastardly of situations, or possible crimes or misbehaviour. I really do enjoy teaching children how to hunt, or fish. How to properly respect weapons and arms, generally what I was trained to teach to squires." Dante continued to sit down, but attempted to look at her, unless she was behind him to help with the armor.
