Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
He holds onto the leash attached to the dog with a firm grip as a yawn leaves his lips. There were some hold habits he couldn't break. An example being the one he was doing now; The purposeful plan he crafted when he was younger that consisted of him waking up this early in the morning to be able to casually meet Thalassa who would've been walking the very same dog that he now was taking care of. Severus wasn't sure what originally compelled him to keep the pet but -- a part of him couldn't let him go. It was the only thing he had left of him. There was also the fact the both of them had been abandoned by the same person so it was another bonding point.[break][break] "Oi-- c'mon..." He mumbles when Bruno got excited by nearby person, tugging the leash gently to reel him in. Severus also got used to this excitable behavior of the animal; it came natural with being a dog owner. "You're gonna wake up the whole damn neighborhood if you keep barking like that." Severus stopped in place to give some pats to the top of his head, yawning once more. "You good now?"[break][break]
The attention did momentarily make him go silent and just as Severus felt it was safe for them to carry on, Bruno had whimpered and turned his head to look back at him. Severus eyebrow raised. "What?" It was too early for him to deal with this right now. He wasn't a dog reader so he had no idea what was going on but, when he turned his head to look back to whatever he had been fixated on. Severus took that as a sigh and lifted his head to have a look. Severus was fully expecting it to be a damn cat or a stupid crow. Bruno loved chasing them and often grew upset like this when Severus held him back.[break][break]
"I swear if it's another cat you aren't gonna get a t-..." It definitely got Severus to shut up, and slapped him in the face. His brows furrowed and his lips stumbled a 'huh' out of his mouth. He wasn't sure if what he was seeing was real or if it was another one of his delusions. Hit with flashes of memories by the very male who he had been seeing-- his stupid long hair, his body frame to the stupid face he grown sickeningly attached to. The wave of exhaustion that once was within him had upped and disappeared. [break][break] His teeth grips his lip harshly as a low grunt of 'go get him' was commanded to Bruno. The leash slipped out of his hand as he followed after the dog that had been bolting towards the one person he had been looking for. Sure, Severus wished to see him again but he didn't expect for it to be like this. He wasn't even sure if this was really happening but he sure wasn't going to let him run out on him again even if this did turn out to be some sick dream.
Why did he still feel drawn to places from the past? Some part of him needed to linger here, some part that wanted to return to the way things had once been. A life he had not truly wanted to leave behind, and for a moment could revisit the memories of as if he were still living them. Thalassa did not expect anybody to really be around the area, not anyone that would recognize him at least, and so he was taking a risk he wouldn't normally take, just for a sense of self indulgence that might not do any good in the long run. As soon as he set foot in the place, it was almost as if he had never left. He had used to meet Severus here, with the companionship of a dog that was more wolf than domestic, simpler days, ones that he found himself missing more than not.
Retracing old steps that he could remember almost like a routine that had barely ceased, Thalassa glanced up at the sky for a brief moment. The sounds of footsteps and moving about alerts Thalassa that he isn't alone with his memories anymore, tensing on instinct and looking for an easy escape route, before he could potentially get caught by someone he didn't want to be found by. Almost instantly on the move, at least in a place that was as familiar as it is, it shouldn't have been difficult to escape. The layout of the particular street had changed somewhat however, and before he could turn on his heel to reassess that was when the barking become apparent. Turning his head, a familiar tone struck through Thalassa's mind, seeing a familiar fluffy shave hurtling towards him, dragging a leash behind it.
"But who..?" Bruno has never been the gentlest creature, almost barreling straight off his feet, whining and carrying on a fuss as he did so. He keeps his feet braced as he strokes a hand over the almost frantic animal's form, internally thankful that the canine had not been left to die on his own, and he could not help the subtle softening of his facial features as he stroked the thick fur. Very few people would have noticed the change in his expression, but there were some who would have instantly been able to pick up on it. The sound of footsteps also drew his attention away from Bruno, his muscle tensing up again with recognition, as he tightened fingers around the dog's collar.
Trying to sidle backwards to run instantly made him aware of one thing, an escape was absolutely not going to happen. The instant he tried to back away and let go of the collar, the dog was pressing up against him and whining more, threatening to trip him up and throw him off his feet if he tried to run. Collecting himself as Bruno turned his head, it was clear Severus had been taking care of him. The dog's tail started wagging in violent swoops of air, and the behaviour he was displaying was reminiscent of expecting praise. "You.." but he didn't quite get the rest of the sentence out.
There's a show of fireworks going on within him. Vibrant lights that each represented all kinds of feelings he's harbored and repressed since the moment everything between them fell apart. A burst of red, a mix of his passion and the anger that just seeing Thalassa gives him. A mix of blue and white... the sadness creeping up on him and smacking him the face all while a relief of seeing him alive and well. His hand balls into a fist and his nails did deeply within the palm as a noticeable tremor took place every couple of seconds. It took every inch of him to not scream. "Me?" All he said was a word and yet it dripped with such animosity. [break][break] His eyes glance away for a single moment for him to inhale deeply although his breath was already unstable. God, this was not how he planned for this morning to go. The last thing he wanted to do was fall apart in a public place... and yet this undeniably was going to happen. There was nothing no longer stopping all the feelings and thoughts he's kept stored away now that the one who was the cause was right in front of him. "I don't even know what to say. I don't know-- I've been searching for you for so long and for you to-... to show up here of all places. It's both ridiculous but of course. It's something you would do."[break][break] He goes silent for a few seconds, trying to not fall apart in that one moment then and there but it's proving to be difficult. His hand released and moved to cover his mouth momentarily. Severus rarely ever cried and the last time he remembered doing so was after the lost of his apprentice. He clears his throat, forcing the tears at bay to stay back a while longer while his eyes returned to looking at Thalassa. A gaze that was a mix of all the hostility but pain too. "You owe me an explanation and if you... -- If you just walk off again without saying a word I .... I'll hurt you, Thalassa." It's what he resigned himself to do if Thalassa was refusing to cooperate. When did things go wrong for him? Why did he leave the TRS? For AP of all things? Why did he lie to him and string him along? Why did he have to do this to him of all people? He had so many questions that he longed to know the truth for. [break][break] "You owe me this fucking much, don't you think?"
This was the last thing he had expected, yet his own regrets were keeping him almost anchored down in place. A funny sort of comparison to make, though this situation is more like a haunted shipwreck than anything functional. All of Thalassa's senses are going off like car alarms, telling him to hurry up and get out of here. For a moment those danger instincts almost work, yet Thalassa is snapped back out of his instincts by another unexpected event. Almost as if to underscore Severus's words, Bruno actually lets out a low growl at him. Thalassa had barely even moved, but the dog was also clearly against letting him go.
The changes in Thalassa's face again are subtle, yet to someone who had spent as much time with him as Severus had, they were likely as loud as someone shouting. Thalassa's gaze averted slightly when he saw the violent play of emotions in the other's eyes, the subtle changes in his expression that hint at guilt and traces of the self loathing he has held for himself for years. This was never what he had wanted, never what he would have chosen for his life to become. Words dance on the tip of his tongue, but as he is known for, Thalassa holds them back. He did not voice the fact that nobody could hurt him as much as he has already hurt himself, did not feel that was what should be said at all. What Thalassa does dare to do, might be riskier than even those words would have been. He takes a few steps forward, closer to Severus, Bruno circling behind him and pressing at his heels. It could be dangerous, especially if he were to get lashed out at now.
"You're right." Thalassa's voice is low and smooth, the words a simple clear cut and familiar cadence, something that would either be further provoking or expected enough to dig further into nostalgia. "You deserve that much. But will it ever be enough?" It was meant less as a jab, more of a self reflection, as Thalassa knows no mere words or explanation would ever make him free of the loathing he feels for what he has done.
Lifting his gaze again, it's clear that Thalassa isn't afraid. More words and thoughts are held back through immaculate self control, and he doesn't say that he regretted leaving Severus behind the most. Fear has never been something that Thalassa had ever shown, and he wasn't about to start now. There's too many other feelings warring for control over Thalassa's face, too many crowding the forefront of his mind to make room for fear. Yet, Thalassa doesn't say anything more. It would be too easy to get ahold of him now that he closed some distance, but that something he's already aware of.
His eyes stayed glued to Thalassa's face, watching for every shift in expression in hopes of gaining an understanding of what he was feeling or going through. The old habits that Severus put his full efforts into learning still remained deeply rooted into his mind. Even if he did all of this to him; all the small things, all the big things. Anything to everything he learned about the other stayed. He grinded his teeth, feeling a bit of shock for him to so easily to admit to it. He hadn't expected him to close the distance either. His heart dropped for a solid moment there... and seeing how much more space between them remained made him want to close it but he's snapped out from that thought by his next statement.[break][break] "Of course not!" He croaks out, his arms failing before falling to his sides. He may hear the reason but there was no way it could possibly heal all the hurt but it was definitely something Severus desperately needed to hear. There would be no hope to him ever seeing a future where he'd be able to get past all the resentments or trauma caused from Thalassa's betrayal. From him tossing him aside as if those years they spent together meant nothing to him. "...o-of course not..." He repeats but this time his whole body is shaking, his voice wasn't as strong or clear as it initially was. "F-... fuck!" He cursed himself for falling apart so soon.[break][break] "I..." Tears streamed down his cheeks as he fully dropped his head down to look at his feet. He sniffs a bit, trying to continue speaking but the occasional sob escaped every so often. "W-why'd... you-- you have to do it, Thalassa? Was that all we had a l-lie? W...w-" He pauses, feeling an extreme sense of dread from the question he was about to ask."W-was it 'cause of me? I--... I can't let it happen again. I won't let you leave again, and I won't let you go until it's e-enough. " He lifted his head up, revealing the state his face was in while he stepped forward, hands moving to cup both of Thalassa's cheeks within his hands. [break][break] His grip was neither overly gentle or tight but secure enough to where a simple movement wouldn't free him from the hold. His eyes looked into Thalassas. "I hate you. I waited for you. I resented you. I missed you. I blamed you. I... I couldn't stop thinking about you." He laughs weakly, sucking in a deep breath in hopes of momentarily calming the tears. "I don't know how t-to feel right now. Or how to fucking process anything. I d-don't even know if this is real. W-what if it's just another delusion? I don't even wanna blink... I-i'm terrified that if I do, you'll be gone again."
No matter how hard Thalassa could ever try, things really wouldn't ever be the same. Severus's words really only confirmed that fact, but Thalassa hadn't expected any different. What picture had ever looked the same after being torn into shreds? As soon as Thalassa noticed the tears however, the breath left his lungs sharply, suddenly, loudly, like a hiss from a snake, and he bit his lip. It was hard to remain composed like this, the self loathing biting at his mind at what he has done to Severus. It's hard to stay rooted where he is but he manages somehow, though he can feel his teeth starting to dig painfully into his lip. The pain the other is feeling is a beast tangible to Thalassa, one that mocks him for the morals he used to guard fiercer than any dragon protected it's hoard.
It was obvious, so fucking obvious now that he saw the damage close and personal, that his reach had grasped further than he had ever imagined it could have. Words further spoken had an effect that Thalassa didn't expect, a sudden ferocity and rage that narrowed his eyes before he could fully reign it in. "Nothing was your fault." The words were still the usual cadence, and yet buried beneath them was an intense fierceness aimed back at himself for daring to make his most trusted companion ever feel like he had caused anything that happened.
Thalassa truly regarded himself as someone detestable now, someone who had betrayed everything he believed in and thrown away everyone that had ever truly mattered. "It turns out that I'm not as infallible as I had once thought myself to be. I had a weakness, and it was exploited." The words sting as they leave his mouth, beneath the surface level calm they dripped with venom and a bitter resentful regret that still stained his hands with the blood of betrayal. His ice blue eyes were dark as he tensed, not moving a muscle to even flinch at Severus's touch.
Even this was far gentler than he believed he deserved, Thalassa thought he deserved a punch or a slap, some sort of punishment even beyond seeing the hurt he had caused. He knew that any hurt he was spared here, however, his own mental state was sure to deal to him later. More ghosts to haunt his dreams, to tread through every waking thought, to drag ephemeral claws down his spine and howl his phantom defeat to the everlasting night. A subtle quiver ran down Thalassa's spine, but it would have surely been noticed. I missed you Severus, but something in me won't let me say so. His thoughts curled around the thought like a snake, a cruel game of catch twenty two that he wasn't allowed to win. "I made a mistake." The words sounded so small compared to the gravity of the situation, and sometimes Thalassa doesn't know himself anymore.
The short but direct responses that had been carefully spoken by Thalassa gave him the answer he wanted to hear but it wasn't enough. Too brief and not all the details which was what he wanted. It wasn't the same way he'd speak to him before either but that made sense... although Severus was greedy. It wasn't too difficult to figure out he must've been holding him back in the midst of Severus trying to sort out his own feelings. "Stop holding yourself back, damn it! I want to hear everything..." He can't piece these things together himself. In what way had he been exploited? What was this weakness of his that had been abused? "Do you really think I'm going to be satisfied with just this? Huh? You're b-barely even giving me any scraps."[break][break]
His thumb shakily rubbed his cheek as his teeth sunk into his lower lip. The fact he was able to look at him like this, to be in the same space- to touch him. It felt so surreal but the feeling of warmth radiating from both of his cheeks, to the slight movement caused by Thalassa needing to breath assured him that this was all happening. "You couldn't rely on me?" If it was a scenario that Thalassa had been getting threatened... he should've known Severus would've done anything he could to help him out and yet he so easily walked away. Just what did Thalassa think that would do for him? Was his options really that grim? "There were so many people who would've helped you, Thalassa." [break][break] Severus dropped silent when he felt the noticeable quiver that ran throughout Thalassa. His gaze softened from what it had been. "You..." His hands dropped away from his cheeks but his arms did slowly wrap around Thalassa. The embrace started off gentle before he tightened it and pulled him in closely for a hug. He knew this wasn't going to magically fix all of what taken place between them. It wasn't the answer to their problems in the slightest but in this moment Severus felt it was what the both of them needed the most. "So... make it up to me. Own up to your mistake. S-stop running away." His head drops to rest on his shoulder. "Stop refusing yourself and speak with me."
His ghosts were haunting his mind, just like they always did these days. What has he done to not have been met with justified violence? He can't think of a reason that he deserved to be spared from it, but it makes him feel heavier and lighter all at the same time. Thalassa can't look away, and he's certain that for once his eyes are leaving him almost like an open book. "I didn't want to...drag...you.." Thalassa struggles with his words, finding it hard to not cease the vocalization of his internal dialogue. His mother had taught him to melt for nothing and nobody, but now it just seemed pathetic.
Even after this, Thalassa still recalls his earliest lessons. How he should never let himself feel soft, how he should never allow anything to break him. It was true that this was some of what was keeping him going, but it had resulted into becoming someone haunted by regret. Thalassa wants to tell him, but he knows that he was always told to keep his walls in place for a reason. It was a strategy to make sure nobody could slip under his defenses, but this was someone who had gotten under them long ago anyways.
All it takes is sticking his foot in the door, and maybe bit by bit he can force his own walls back open. He had done it all to save them, but where did that leave him now? Now that they were refusing to see him again? Thalassa understands why they were angry, knows his mother could tell that he had betrayed his heart, that his father would have rather died than see his son turn on himself. The pressure from his teeth finally broke through, a tinge of pain blossoming as teeth sank into a wounded lip. "I didn't want to drag you down."
Thalassa closes his eyes at the embrace, allowing his controlled posture to soften for the first time in a long time. "I missed .. you." He had to force his own instincts back in order to even say it, his voice a low whisper that denoted his struggle. Closing his eyes tighter and tasting blood on his tongue from the damaged lip, he could only hope the struggle was worth it, that any of this wouldn't just bite back at him again later. His regrets were digging raw into the core of himself, and it was the hardest it has ever been to not crumble. It was a dark and swallowing kind of suffering to be uncertain and forcing his own vulnerability, but he deserves any and all of it. It was twisting a knife into his gut, but he only had himself to blame.
"In what way would you have done that? I would've been so damn happy to help." Thinking back on it, it wasn't possible for Thalassa to be anything even similar to a burden for Severus. He put him on a pedestal more than anything else and if he had leaned on him for assistance there was no doubt that Severus wouldn't have hesitated to step in and help with whatever it was. In the end though... Thalassa's decision still included pushing him away and making him believe something which outcome was arguably worse than what dragging him down could've possibly been. He can't wrap his head around his decision making and he wonders if Thalassa still stands by it even now. [break][break] Severus wants to be happy to have him back but all these little details are coming to light, all his feelings that he harbored over the years come back up in his face and it makes it hard to cherish this moment in full. It's frustrating but he also understands why-- he wishes he could turn a blind eye but the issues with trust inflicted on him due to Thalassa was far too severe for him to be able to snap back immediately even after hearing the words he wanted. "I wish you had been honest with me, Thalassa. This didn't have to happen-- I went through all of that. All-- I... I don't know how to move past this."[break][break] "Uugh.... hearing you say that..." Severus let out a whine from the back of his throat. His hold faltered and arms trembled at the moment those three words had been confessed to him. "I missed you so much." Just when he thought his tears were settling down did they kick back into full force. He swore to never be this emotional again, to not be this weak person who could get torn down so easily and yet being in the presence of Thalassa reminded him that he was in fact all of these things. No matter how hard he tried to hide it with his anger or aggression... deep down he was a vulnerable person who had unfortunately reached a melting point that he's yet to recover from. "It was hard... without you. I felt lost for a long time and it really showed me... without you in my life how... worthless it was to just exist. The thing that kept me going was the fact that one day I'd--.... I'd make you suffer the way I suffered." A mix of a sob and laughter escaped. "Look at us now, huh...?"[break][break] "Seeing you here... I'm relieved, I'm so glad... you didn't actually betray me but-- but... a part of me can't help but wonder if you're plotting something else. You'll leave me behind, use me all over. Take advantage of what I'd do for you-- I can't escape these thoughts even if I so desperately want too." Severus more than ever needed reassurance. He probably was going to need a lot of it moving forward too. As much as he cared, his mind was plagued with insecurity and a number of issues that all were born from the actions of Thalassa. "and yet... and yet... I don't want you to leave. I don' want you to apologize and leave me again. In so many ways with you have I felt whole-- after losing everything... you had become all I had and-- and even if it's been so long... having you back again rekindles all those feelings."[break][break] "I'm scared if I'll be able to move past these fucked feelings... but I'm far more terrified of me having a future where you aren't in it."
It's still difficult for Thalassa to fight, keeping his foot wedged between his barriers and instincts and stopping the door from slamming back shut. Keeping everything behind lock and key was so much easier, it was what he was used to. Ice and silver had always been his birthright, his duty to keep himself safe. Even though they were supposed to, in hindsight, haven't they already failed that purpose?
"I won't leave you again. If .. if I have to I'll even give you Quicksilver." It was a risky move, offering to hand over the broadsword like that, his only weapon and his most cherished possession all in one. It would leave him unarmed, defenseless, and yet it was also offering back a vulnerability that nobody had ever gotten from him. Something that nobody else ever would get, and it had every instinct he had flaring in his blood.
Quicksilver had been with Thalassa since he had joined the TRS, it was the blessing his parents had given towards his future. "I wish things were different. I could have been..less.." His voice is low, weak, and for a moment that he could not stop, he audibly choked. Water welled up around closed eyelids, Thalassa knowing that if he allowed his walls to fall now, there was no coming back from it. He had never truly lost control in front of anyone, had never allowed himself to cry.
It was already too late, water tracking down his face now, burning against his skin with all the fury of every regret that ghosts every breath. Thalassa's breath keeps catching in his throat, there wasn't any hiding it any longer. "O..one day.. I will make this...right.." His voice was faint, broken, and for once Thalassa sounded as pathetic as he felt. One day...one day...one day it had to get better.
"...H - huh?" That makes him perk up, suck in a deep breath and momentarily fight off the tears that threaten to roll down his cheeks. Severus was quite aware of the weight such words held. From his time of endless admiration and following around Thalassa he had an idea about how important his broadsword was to him. His lips tremble as a whimper shortly escaped him. "Really? ....offering something so..." His hands grasped some of the fabric of his coat off his back. He knew it was very important to Thalassa, so important that him offering it was such an outrageous idea. It definitely was a major step for Severus to understand that everything he had been saying was what he was full on thinking.[break][break] It all unfolds one by one with the start of that statement. He's seen small glimpses of the weakness that Thalassa usually hides but this was the first time Severus heard his voice choke and coming out in a way that tugged at his heart and made his stomach knot. "T...thalassa?" He can't help but whisper in shock. Surprised by the sight of something he longed for but never imagined it'd happen like this. His hand releases his coat and had gently rested his hand against his back, his hold on him becoming more secure as he gently pushed him more into his embrace as a means to silently comfort him. [break][break] The both of them were torn to pieces by this whole situation and there was no denying that they had a lot of healing they needed to do not only together but on their own. Severus can't even say or think it'll be something easy to go through but this... this was the start of that. "One day... one day starts now." He continues with whispering. "Let's figure it out together... where we g-go from here."
Thalassa couldn't stop himself once it started, the wet slipping off his face more freely. His breathing was louder and uncontrolled, uneven and he gave up even trying to hide it anymore. He didn't deserve what he perceived as such benevolence, would never have expected anything close to it. He had thought that he was going to be alone forever with the ghosts in his mind, until the day someone tracked him down and gave him what he deserved. Thalassa has always been known as strong, had always been an unbreakable fortress, but time waits for nobody. "I'm n..not...okay.." Admitting it hit him like a ton of bricks, as close to a scream that Thalassa would ever get.
Severus could have Quicksilver, keep it if he really wanted to, as long as he could stay. It all seemed too cruel, and yet it was fitting that he would have lost everything he once had as well. He deserved it, he deserved it, he really fucking deserved it, though it still didn't feel like enough punishment. It didn't hurt enough yet, surely it couldn't compare to what he had caused, but he had to start somewhere.
"Together..." The words are hardly more than an echo of a sentiment, though there's a sense of relief through the broken words that can barely get through his rough vocals. Thalassa closes his eyes tighter, his eyes burning as his teeth return to digging back into the wound he had already inflicted on his lip. Coppery blood washes over his tongue but he doesn't dare release his lip, not when he was trying to keep from choking up more.
Severus remains silent as the unfolding of Thalassa happens. Mostly out of respect but also a slight percent of it was shock. It made perfect sense that he wasn't as strong as he always imagined. Even Severus no matter how hard he tried to pretend; he fell to pieces within an instant. The strong and aggressive facade he put up for so long was a lot more forced than he had realized. Surely, in someway... it was the same for Thalassa but Severus couldn't possibly imagine all of what was unfolding in his mind at this very moment. He never was let this far in before and now all he can do was provide vague words of comfort and hope that for Thalassa-- he's able to get through to him and sooth him. [break][break] "Neither of us are." His hand gently rubbed circles into his back as he sighed. A part of him ached more seeing him this distressed. Severus wondered exactly what it was Thalassa went through in the time they had been apart. If it was enough for him to be like this-- it was probably as bad as it had been for him too. "but... but I promise-- I won't give up on you. on ... on us." He pauses, figuring out how to exactly say what he had been thinking. "How we can face the past and focus on a future that involves the both of us."[break][break] It's been an emotional ride since the start of this conversation. Both of their emotions and tensions are high but there's no denying the fact that the two wouldn't be here clinging to each other like this if they weren't happy. "I promise... I won't leave you and let you be alone anymore."
The emotional overture was a long time coming, years of trauma and emotions kept under a lid that was packed so tight that any release would make it explode. Tears flowed down Thalassa’s face without restraint or pausing; his eyes remaining closed as he tried to regain control of his erratic breathing. His heartbeat echoed in his ears, and though his eyes were closed, he felt as though the world was spinning a little too fast.
At first, the only acknowledgement he could give to Severus’s words were a tiny, almost inaudible whimper. Fingers closing around whatever he could reach, Thalassa actually clung. His fingers, no, his entire body frame was likely quivering the slightest degree, and he had no way to tell just how tight his grip was. Yet, he needed it right now, needed to feel as absolutely close, as grounded as possible. After a moment, Thalassa swallowed back more tears. “I’m tired, but .. I - I swear I won’t stray again.”
The tiredness from the emotions running wild is slowly sweeping over him, the slight way his shoulders droop now. Eventually, slowly, his breathing starts to calm, and Thalassa lets out a exhale that he feels from his bones. “I’ll remain by your side until the day you no longer want me to be there.” Just a little longer like this, just a little more ... and Thalassa thinks he’ll be okay. No matter what happens after, he’ll be able to make it through.
The both of them were at their wits end. They felt like they've seen it all; both the good and the bad but most notably the second. It was just now that all of these issues deep rooted within the both of them were coming to light and for where they each felt most comfortable which was with one another were they able to finally come apart after a long time of separation and forcing down raw emotions that troubled them. Severus could only harshly bite down into his bottom lip, the taste of iron staining his mouth as he listened to his sobs mix in with Thalassa's. [break][break] It hurt like hell, not only to see him like this but also what was going on inside of himself. Severus has no idea what has happened for Thalassa but from the sight and feeling of him shaking in his hold, he just knows whatever it is was something that devastated him as a whole. Something which plagues his mind and makes every part of him ache in a way that it's vaguely understandable for Severus because... he was the same way too. "It's okay to be tired." He releases his lip, paying no mind to the mess his blood was calling. "I'll be holding you that promise."[break][break] Their emotions running high would obviously ware down the both of them, especially considering the fact they both were the type to shove everything under the rug so expending this much drained majority of his energy. "No longer want you to be there? ...that'll never happen so prepare to be with me till we're old and wrinkly, Thalassa." His voice is hoarse from all the crying he's done. He falls silent for a while, calming his breathing and trying to regather himself. After a while of silence does a thought come to mind he felt the need to voice."I think... I should take you to my home." It dawns on him that they were very much in a public space. Emotions were too high before to notice but luckily they hadn't gathered much spectators beyond Bruno, of course.[break][break]
