Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

[attr=class, bulk] Trepidation lurked inside Bram’s chest as he scrambled to unlock his phone and call a taxi service. Anxieties were skyrocketing as the young faekin hurried to reach Vance, requiring a taxi to cut travel times. Foolishly, the bespectacled medic allowed his crush the opportunity to indulge in alcohol and enter an intoxicated state of mind. Thankfully, Bram was granted information he never thought imaginable, something he craved since those puberty days. Hastily, the dark-haired man searched a number for a local cab service.
[break][break]
Google opened quickly, Bram clicking on the number to dial it without typing the numbers in. The young medic stood in his dormitory, legs shaking, one arm holding his phone to his ear while the other pressed against his stomach. Nervously, he bit his lower lip as he listened to the ringing of the phone, praying someone would answer. Throughout the wait, he paced, struggling to cease fidgeting because of the present situation. Prayers were sent, silent wishes in hopes somebody would answer the phone and grant him a chance to catch up.
[break][break]
“Hello, Star Travel Taxi, how can I help you?”
[break][break]
A male voice answered the phone, his tone the natural friendly vibe from a majority who wished to do well in customer service. Suddenly, Bram’s heart lurched, kick-starting as his panic pushed his speech into full gear.
[break][break]
“HELLO! I-I NEED A RIDE!” He said louder than intended, cheeks turning red. “Um, sorry… I just need a ride. I am at the TRS headquarters.”
[break][break]
Quickly arrangements were created to ride over to the hotel Vance stated he was staying at. Hopefully an honest answer was provided in regards to his location. Immediately after their exchange was finished, Bram hung up the phone and shoved it into his jeans pocket. Without wasting another second, the black-haired boy fetched his wallet and grabbed his favoured pink jacket. The wallet was shoved inside the other pocket meanwhile the jacket was pulled over his shoulders to defend against the cold weather conditions.
[break][break]
The young man hurried through the building, weaving down the hallways and heading downstairs to exit the training center. He needed to reach Vance immediately! Endless worries filtered through Bram’s head about his crush’s current mental state... Furthermore, the information he discovered about their supposed sibling connection. Inside its cage, Bram’s heart fluttered wildly at the thought of their connection. Unlike what was told originally, the smitten young adult discovered his brother was an adopted member of their family...
[break][break]
Therefore, everything he felt... would it be considered permitted because of the lack of blood connection between them? Uncovering further truths became Bram’s intentions for heading to the hotel where Vance rented a room. He needed to find, ask those inquiries, explain Vance was never the reason for his fleeing and finally... confess his feelings on their filthy, long-standing secret... Slowly, Bram approached the sidewalk he arranged to meet the taxi driver at. Cold air caressed his cheeks, however, he remained unmoving as he stood outside, waiting.
[break][break]
Stinging developed in his cheeks, but nothing peculiar given the cold temperatures of the evening. Breath escaped Bram’s lips in a cloud of white that faded into the night air. Eventually, the faekin’s pink eyes spotted a small taxi approaching the curve with the decorations from the company he contacted in regards to receiving a ride. The dark-haired man slid into the back seat, providing the directions to the hotel. With the exchange, they pulled away from the curb side, the vehicle passing under city lights and Bram gazing out the window.
[break][break]
Silence consumed the taxi as the TRS medic anxiously waited through reuniting with his brother. What would happen when he entered that hotel room? Would Vance drag him into the sinister hands of his parents? Throughout their text messages, the long-haired man denied any possibilities of the parents being the issue... As far as Bram was aware, nobody knew about the abuse he endured for refusing to become a soldier... and how could he taint the positive image of his parents? His other siblings cherished the mighty leaders of the Van Dijks.
[break][break]
The bespectacled man leaned back in his seat, staring outside the car’s window. Anybody watching the young faekin would hastily notice how tense his muscles were alongside the nervous tick of fidgeting fingers. The possibility of what would unfold upon entering the hotel room frightened Bram, however, he refused to allow Vance blame himself... He loved everything about the charming redhead, making the pain he felt in regards to the kitsune’s guilt unbearable. They approached the curbside, the taxi driver parking outside. Payment was provided before Bram exited the vehicle, a long sigh leaving his lips as he stared at the hotel’s sign.
[break][break]
Heavy steps were taken as Bram entered the hotel. Nervously, he glanced around, awkwardly approaching the front desk where a young woman sat, typing on a computer.
[break][break]
“Um…” Bram paused as he remembered Vance’s affiliation... he probably signed in under a false identity... dang it...
[break][break]
The woman turned towards him, a smile on her face. “How may I help you, deary?”
[break][break]
Anxiously, Bram glanced around again, noticing the condition of the hotel Vance picked. The place appeared unprofessional, suggesting he may be able to get away with describing his older brother.
[break][break]
“I’m looking for my older brother... he has long red hair, usually up in a ponytail... should be a little drunk,” he explained quietly.
[break][break]
Fortunately, Bram’s faekin genes made him appear slightly younger than his age. As far as the lady behind the counter was aware, the bespectacled boy in front of her was a boy searching for his big brother.
[break][break]
“Oh, of course honey! He should be in room 204,” she explained, grabbing the second key to the room. “You go find him.”
[break][break]
A sheepish smile traced Bram’s lips as he gingerly reached for the hotel room key. Bashfully, he nodded his thanks before retreating from the front counter to find room 204. Hastily, he moved down the appropriate directions, eventually finding the location and opening the door. Excitement flowed through his veins as he opened the door. His head poked through the door, eyes falling upon a shape unlike his brother. A gasp escaped his lips as the woman screamed.
[break][break]
“S-SORRY!” He shouted, slamming the door closed.
[break][break]
Without hesitation, Bram sprinted down the hallway, hurrying back to the front desk. He approached shyly, placing the key on the counter.
[break][break]
“Um... it was not my brother’s room…” Bram said quietly.
[break][break]
The woman behind the desk glanced over, eyes going wide. She looked over the records silently before a soft ‘oh’ left her lips.
[break][break]
“I am so sorry, he stays in room 203,” she stated as she exchanged the keys. “That is the right one honey.”
[break][break]
Slowly, Bram grabbed the key, gazing at the lady behind the counter. Only moments later did he fetch his wallet and place a 20$ bill on the counter.
[break][break]
“Can you make sure the lady in 204 gets dinner or breakfast on my behalf?” Bram asked quietly.
[break][break]
The woman behind the counter took the money and nodded in response. Promptly, she turned away to speak on the small phone on her desk. From there, Bram hurried back the direction he originated from to locate room 203. Silently, he snuck past room 204, hastily unlocking the door to his brother’s room to enter the safety of the correct hotel room... or at least he hoped...
Vance had thought he was texting a guy name Braydon, unaware until later on that it was in fact Bram. Only finding out the fact because he had seen him and didn't dare follow. Text messages had gone back and forth but he had fled towards the bar to get himself something to drink. In the middle of drinking he started spamming Bram with text messages, making sure to apologize for their past. It wasn't until after he was drunk that he made the mistake of admitting that he was adopted, deciding now was the perfect time to leave the bar and head towards his hotel. The walk had been hard, stumbling as he tried to keep his balance before finally managing to exit the bar and wander down the street. During his walk, more text messages fly in and he forgets to mention where his hotel is at even though Bram is asking him for it. As soon as he gets to the hotel, he walks down the hall into his bedroom before pulling his wallet out to withdraw the keycard to open the door before going inside, making sure to close it behind him. He'd then place his keycard back in his wallet before setting it on the table, along with his keys and cell phone.
He felt sick, leaving his phone to head towards the bathroom, a few minutes later he'd wander back to tell Bram where the address is before once more returning to the bathroom. It felt like forever, that he was in the bathroom, having pains in his stomach, feeling gross as he remained in his spot. There was a scream from next door, he pressed his hands to his ears to try and ignore it. Unaware of the reason for why the lady was screaming. It would be a few minutes later that he finally lowered his hands because the screaming had come to an end. He moved to the sink to clean up before hearing his door being open. When it was closed he found himself frozen in the bathroom, before feeling a great need for another round, to remove the continents from his stomach.
[attr=class, bulk] Intrigued filled Bram's pink eyes as they flitted around the room, exploring and praying his brother was tucked away somewhere in the confines of the hotel room. Slowly, he inched further into the room, gradually kicking off his runners as he searched the room through glass lenses. Inside his chest, Bram's heart palpitated as nervousness firmly grasped his shoulders, shaking him down to his core. What if Vance refused his feelings? Or if he was in the incorrect room again?! Or what if Vance planned on running away?! Or... what if he planned on taking him home?
[break][break]
A sickening feeling developed in Bram's stomach as hairs stood on the back of his neck. Returning home... to his malicious parents who willingly abused him for his desire to not become a soldier... Nervously, the faekin's softly bit down on his lower lip, anxiously chewing it as he stepped through the room. There were some items he recognized inside the room, specifically the wallet and keys, but nothing concrete. Then the cellphone, the most familiar of the personal items Vance owned. Eyes widened as Bram noticed it, reaching for his phone; if the phone lit when he text it, he would know.
[break][break]
Alas, the opportunity was abandoned when Bram heard the sounds of vomiting. The dark-haired man shoved the phone back into his pocket and scurried to the washroom. The bathroom door was left open, allowing Bram to see his brother, emptying the contents of his stomach. A soft gasp escaped his mouth, Bram backing away from the threshold to avoid watching.
[break][break]
"Vance?" He whined quietly. "Are you okay? Do you want ginger ale?"
[break][break]
There were crucial topics that required discussing, but first Bram wanted to assist his brother in whatever way possible. He loved Vance, therefore, he wished to help when possible.
Vance was emptying out his stomach, not pausing despite Bram's question. He held his hair with one hand as to avoid getting it all messy as he continued. What is he doing here? Hell, how'd he figure out which room was mine? He thought to himself, pausing he took the chance to answer Bram. "I'll be fine..." He lied, tempted to ask Bram to close the door, not because he didn't want to see him but because he honestly didn't want Bram having a chance to see him in here, not in the middle of this. His stomach didn't give him much time for a break as he started up again. I guess I really shouldn't have had that much to drink. Did I learn? How no.... He thought to himself, feeling sick but not regretting the amount he had to drink. It just... made him feel better even though he was going through this shit right now.
[attr=class, bulk] Concerns consumed Bram as he backed away from the doorway, back pressing against the wall beside the bathroom. Part of the young teen desired to tear up from the misfortunes cast onto Vance. Everything about the long-haired redhead he loved, therefore, listening to the sounds of him vomiting bothered the dark-haired teen. His hands reached into the sleeves of his pink jacket, fingers folding around it, covering his hand. His knuckle was brought to his lips, pressing softly against it as nervousness haunted him.
[break][break]
His knees were brought towards his chest, his open arm wrapping around them. The faekin held no regrets on coming to find Vance, however, he was sorrowed by the condition he discovered his crush in. Stomach throwing up contents from the over-consumption of alcohol during his bar visit. The kitsune stated he was alright, however, only a mere few seconds later did Bram listened to the sounds echo through the bathroom. He wanted to help... but the young dark-haired man was hesitant around people puking their food up.
[break][break]
Tears formed in his dazzling pink eyes, his lip quivering as he resisted the urge to release a choking sob. He held back those emotions, refusing to worry his beloved Vance.
Vance found himself in a pause of throwing up, suddenly he moved, kicking the door closed. It would slam shut, but at least now Bram wouldn't be at risk of seeing him, when he'd start up again on emptying his stomach, which had come quicker than he had expected and he almost missed the toilet in the process. When given a chance to pause, he started coughing, having held back so that he wouldn't get it on the floor and so when it was coming out he was somewhat choking on it. His throat was sore and dry and his stomach wasn't ready to give him a break from the nightmare he had just put himself in. Once the pause had concluded, he found himself emptying his stomach once more until there was nothing left. He remained by the toilet, unsure on if he was truly done or not.
[attr=class, bulk] SLAM! The loud sound of the bathroom door closing echoed through the hotel room. A startled gasp leaving Bram's quivering lips at the sudden noise. Noises were muffled from the threshold being closed, however, the faekin was plenty aware of the occurrences beyond that doorway. The contents of his stomach were being forcefully shoved from Vance's stomach because of the kitsune's reckless ingestion of alcohol. Burning tears rolled down Bram's face as his knees squeezed against his chest. Shaky breaths escaped his mouth accompanied by a soft whimper.
[break][break]
The young faekin sniffled as he struggled to withhold the temptation to sob. His arms wrapped tightly around his knees, head burying into his legs. The thick-rimmed glasses were pushed up because of their knees, resting on his forehead. Every desire to sob was resisted, Bram softly biting his quivering lip, praying he could resist. Unfortunately, the efforts to resist were futile as more tears rolled down his cheeks and the emotions flowed over him. The faekin began outright bawling, fingers grasping the folded edges of his pants as he released his sorrows.
[break][break]
Everything was hurting because of this situation, his heart aching... worry consuming his body... and tears seemingly endless.
Vance waited a few minutes before slowly moving away from the toilet to inch towards the tub, believing some of his hair might have gotten the short end of the stick and he wanted to wash his face and not have to stand just to sit back down when he wanted to clean himself up. He knew Bram was just outside the door, he hadn't kicked it closed with the intention of hurting his feelings, only to save him the trouble of knowing what exactly was happening in the bathroom. He pulled the pony tail out of his hair and leaned into the tub to try and wash his hair. "Ugh......" He answered, intending for it to be a mumble but it had come out louder than that. This position is really uncomfortable for my stomach... He thought to himself as he struggled to try and get his hair wet under the faucet.
[attr=class, bulk] Worries flooded the young faekin’s mind as he embraced his knees tightly, upset about the situation. Hot tears rolled down Bram’s cheeks as he sniffled. He straightened his back, hands reaching to wipe away the water leaving his eyes. Inside his chest, his heart anxiously fluttered, faster than usual as he concerned himself with Vance’s health. Everything about the long-haired man was loved by Bram. He displayed endless amounts of kindness and sweetness that Vance dumped upon him. He meant everything to him.
[break][break]
He listened to the occurrences of the bathroom, the emptying of stomach contents soon shifting. An ‘ugh’ echoed through the washroom, slipping through the cracks of the doors. The faekin sniffled, wiping away more tears as he listened to the eventual ceasing of sickness sounds. A deep, wheezy breath was sucked in and released as he gradually attempted to calm himself. Slowly, he lifted himself from the carpeted floor, still a sniffling, teary-eyed mess. His hand reached for the doorknob, pausing for a moment as the sounds of water running through a faucet was heard.
[break][break]
Was Vance not finished? A pause was accomplished, Bram’s hand on the doorknob as he listened. Concerns fluttered into his mind, worrying him the longer he stood outside the closed threshold, uncertain of Vance’s condition. He needed to know... The doorknob was twisted, the door slightly cracked open to allow Bram a peek through the gap. The toilet was abandoned in favour of the bathtub where water flowed. The redheaded man was soaking his precious locks, cleaning himself up after the seemingly endless rounds of vomiting.
[break][break]
Hesitantly, Bram opened the door wider, sniffling more as he revealed himself. There were tears weighted in his eyes, trickling down his cheeks. A slow shuffle was accomplished to close the distance between himself and Vance. He took the position beside the kitsune, assuring he would not block the toilet from his beloved crush. The dark-haired man endured the wretched scent of sickness, his worries motivating him into this choice. He wiped his tears, sniffling as he lowered himself, sitting on his feet. The faekin’s pink eyes locked onto his beautiful crush, a hand reaching out to rub Vance’s back.
[break][break]
An inhale was sucked into Bram’s lungs, followed by a shaky exhale. He needed to do something! The faekin delved deeply into his medical knowledge until something forgotten occurred. His right hand rubbed Vance’s back, pink eyes glancing at his left. Slowly, he brought his hand towards Vance’s stomach, splaying it across where the man ailed. Light formed around Bram’s hand as he attempted to heal the pain felt by the kitsune.
[break][break]
“Are you okay?” He whimpered softly.
[break][break]
The faekin asserted his healing magic over the area, attempting to dispel the sickness caused by the liquor. Tears were drying on Bram’s face as he worked towards healing his precious crush.
Vance had moved towards the tub, attempting to wash his hair with much difficulty. He almost hadn't heard the door open but instead of turning he continued attempting to clean his hair. He knew Bram was coming into the bathroom but when his back was touched, it startled him slightly before he relaxed and continued on with his hair washing attempts. "I'm so sorry Bram..." He whispered, still feeling so sick. When Bram's hand moved towards his stomach he shivered, not expecting to be touched there, though the healing was making him feel slightly better. "No..." He whispered before adding, "But I will be." He answered, it wasn't in regard to Bram healing him, he always get sick and later felt better. "Sooner than usual thanks to you." He answered, feeling like a complete mess.
[attr=class, bulk] Silently, Bram kneeled beside Vance, one hand rubbing the kitsune’s back meanwhile the other remained stationed at his stomach to motivate healing. The faekin sniffled as he looked at his brother, his earlier round of sobbing still having its side effects. He ignored the startled reaction given by Vance and instead focused on assuring his crush would be healed. Concern painted Bram’s face as his soft, pink eyes were locked on his redheaded crush. Trepidation lurked inside his heart which quivered with worry the longer he stared at the man who recently expelled the contents of his stomach.
[break][break]
As the faekin stared, he admired the qualities of Vance’s face. Every second of their separation was difficult because for days he was unable to view those gorgeous features. On those evenings during his absence, his heart ached for this man, pining for his touch and closeness. Their reconnection felt necessary and despite the impending consequences, Bram found a bittersweet happiness in seeing Vance’s face. Too much time passed since their last physical interaction, making their reunion sprinkled with sweetness despite the sorrow.
[break][break]
An apology escaped the delicate, soft lips of the beloved man he wished to devote himself to. Slowly, the arm rubbing Vance’s back moved further to bring him into a slight embrace; the hand at his stomach remained perched there.
[break][break]
“Don’t... I’m just glad to see you again,” he murmured in a fragile voice.
[break][break]
Quietly, the faekin remained beside the man he loved. A deepened frown drooped across his face when Vance admitted to being in distress. Although, the smooth kitsune summoned back a gentle smile as he proceeded to speak. A soft hint of red splashed Bram's cheeks as his eyes locked on Vance.
[break][break]
"I'm happy to help," he murmured.
[break][break]
There was nothing better than assisting in the mending of Vance's body. As a medic and a lovestruck man, Bram considered it a duty to his crush. Besides, healing could always result in the earning of brownie points after all.
Vance felt comfort in Bram rubbing his back as he healed his stomach with his other hand. Thought the bath faucet was still running because he wanted to clean his hair, he ignored it for the time being to focus all of his attention on Bram. He had attempted to apologize to Bram only to be told not too. "But... it is required." He whispered, having been hugged, he slowly moved to wrap an arm around Bram to return the gesture. "I'm happy to see you again too. I missed you." He whispered, still feeling hung over but at least the sickness was slowly leaving. He thanked Bram, happy to have him here with him. "I should get cleaned up." He whispered, having plans on trying harder than ever to wash his hair out now. Maybe instead of dunking his head under the faucet, a shower was in order, but he couldn't bring himself to do that in front of Bram so instead he moved to dunk his hair under to attempt once more to rinse it out with the hope that if he got anything in his hair, it would fall into the tub and down the drain.
[attr=class, bulk] Light flowed from Bram's palms as he proceeded to heal Vance from his ailments. Easing the man's upset stomach was the first priority, the second would be endless apologies for leaving... The thought of reuniting with his parents summoned an unnatural emptiness to Bram's stomach as hairs stood on end. His crush would inevitably escort him home, back to the people who abused him and displayed endless disappointment... Should they discover his decision to join the TRS and as a medic of all occupations, their wrath would be comparable to the gods'.
[break][break]
Thinking about the violent circumstances he would return to, Bram snuggled into Vance's shoulder. An action he hoped would be considered something accomplished out of affection rather than fear. Despite the mixture of alcohol and people clinging to the kitsune's clothing, Bram enjoyed the closeness. It was comforting to finally be capable of snuggling his precious crush again. Apologies were insisted after the faekin informed the kitsune it was unnecessary. A gentle smile played on his lips, both from the insistence of it being required and arm that wrapped around him.
[break][break]
Redness championed Bram's cheeks and nose when Vance whispered expressions of similar feelings. The redhead missed him and was happy to see him. It made Bram's heart flutter wildly.
[break][break]
"It's not required," he murmured, snuggling Vance more.
[break][break]
Additional words were bitten back as Bram's heart pounded in his ears. How he longed to add 'I love you' to his words. To express those emotions held captive inside his chest cavity. He adored Vance, crushed on him for years, but was unable to admit those feelings. The moment Vance mentioned cleaning up, the faekin stiffened, the healing finally being ceased.
[break][break]
"Uh... do you want me to wait outside?" Bram asked quietly.
[break][break]
Actions provided Bram's answer as Vance adjusted, dunking his beautiful, long hair beneath the flowing waters of the faucet. Water washed over them, slowing down the tendrils and into the basin. The faekin observed him, eyes wide at the magnificent spectacle unfolding before him. The silky hair of his crush was always wondrous and soft to touch, but watching it be washed was a blessing. Although, part of Bram wished he was observing a shower opposed to this... The thought of water droplets rolling over Vance's muscles, dampening them in a wet sheen- the thought was cancelled when Bram's breathing picked up, face bright red and heart rate rocketing up.
[break][break]
Even imaginary Vance was beyond handsome and summoned an unstoppable cluster for the young man.
Vance attempted to wash his hair, having somewhat difficulty because he was used to having a shower over dunking his head under the faucet. "No...." He whispered, still struggling with attempting to wash his hair. Besides he didn't think it would be a problem having Bram linger, it wasn't like they were doing anything too get in trouble with their parents later. "Not unless you wanted to wait outside.... I'll just be here..." He whispered, determined to dodge a shower since Bram was here. A shower... in the past lead to some things that he was trying to avoid a repeat of, even though he cherished those memories, not that Bram needed to hear that.
[attr=class, bulk] Silently, Bram observed Vance's actions, proceeding to admire those gorgeous locks. Portions of him continued to long for those fantasized images of the muscular kitsune with water dripping over those features. The struggle proceeded, Bram probably not assisting the situation with his incessant snuggling. Despite Vance dunking his hair beneath the flowing waters, the dark-haired young man proceeded to snuggle into his shoulder. A grin stretched across his face, broad and revealing the slightest hint of his lower teeth.
[break][break]
Those words were followed, stating Bram had the option to leave or stay. After being separated from his brother for months, the option of leaving was nonexistent the moment Vance informed him he could stay. The smile broadened further, Bram snuggling the redhead man more aggressively than previously. Happiness transcended over Bram the longer he appreciated Vance's companionship and warmth. He loved the divine kitsune more than words could possibly express. Everything his crush accomplished on his behalf was wondrous... Oh, how he wished he could inform handsome Vance...
[break][break]
"So," he started with a gulp. "Um... will we do what we usually do tonight? You know... the fun stuff?"
[break][break]
The faekin's face turned a bright red attempting to explain his desire for Vance's special attention. Those pleasurable eves spent beneath the covers doing naughty actions... he wanted those back...
