Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
A sigh of annoyance escaped the reaper's lips when Vashti snapped back at him. The point she made gave justification to the brunette's actions, a sensible reasoning of possibility over it being an entirely different species. Chastising against the argument would be troublesome given the differences of their own species since unlike Vashti, Fritz could easily witness the soul that appeared snuffed out. Just witnessing the soul screamed that the person was a fake, made him feel the intense requirement for action. Ultimately, the hero lacked a proper rebuke and instead crossed his arms and looked away from Vashti. His blue eyes returned to the house, quietly sitting in an almost haunting air around it. He still needed to patrol the area, alas, it would have to wait until the finishing of another verbal dispute with his friend.
When the refusal to quit met Fritz's ears, his gaze flitted back towards Vashti with a disapproving appearance in his bright blue eyes. There was frustration and concern in reaction to the brunette's persistent stubbornness which displayed itself in the manner of which the reaper's hands gripped his upper arms tightly, turning the knuckles a tad pale. A slight pain accompanied the tightened grip, but the warrior ignored it; did not even notice. The concept of this all spiraling out of control by the mere mentioning of the word 'citizen' was something he failed to understand; was the word truthfully that offensive to his stubborn friend?
"Okay, fine, I get it you aren't some random citizen," Fritz grumbled reluctantly. "Now let this go and don't you dare pick up a second job! I will just teach you about terrors if you really want to know that much."
There was plenty of worry sparking over Vashti's safety considering she was among the few friends the reaper held. A majority disappeared in time, his thousands of years of living and constant travelling creating a difficulty in maintaining long-lasting friendships. There was also the guarded behavior Fritz displayed around strangers as he refused to allow people access to portions of his personal life; the effect of his world shattering and slowly repairing. He did not maliciously desire for people to feel those immense emotions that sparked from losing almost everything. The reaper was shortly shaken from his thoughts when Vashti suddenly wrapped her arms around him, tugging Fritz into an embrace. A conformation towards doing multiple jobs being calmly stated as she did. An annoyed sigh was the reaper's response, a displeased countenance appearing upon his face.
"Why do you have to love danger so much?" He mumbled after a few moments of quiet. "You're going to get hurt a lot more."
While Vashti hugged him, Fritz stood clearly not discomforted by the sudden embraced since years of knowing the brunette had caused him to grow well-acquainted with being roped into hugs. Although, he made no effort to hug the law enforcement officer back as he contemplated some coercion from taking the two stressful jobs. Silence hung in the air on the reaper's side, his mind debating the proper argument while he remained still in the woman's embrace.
Vashti felt good when Fritz seemed to finally understand why calling her a citizen was a bad idea, even willing to go as far as to offer to teach her all about the Terrors but he just didn't seem to understand that she already knew there would be a slight chance he might mistaken her as a citizen again, besides picking up a second job wouldn't be the end of the world, would it? She wouldn't allow Fritz justification to become an excuse to back out now, she didn't want him to start believing she'd give him empty threats, this was so much more than an empty threat. "I don't love danger." She corrected him, having heard his mumble. "Maybe...." She would be honest about the subject, "But I'm pretty sure it is everybody's goal to avoid such a thing and I'm not any different." She stated, having wrapped her arms around him. It was sad that Fritz still didn't make the effort in hugging her back, just meant she would have to try harder in encouraging him to do so but for now she was content with him allowing her to hug him when he could have tried harder in avoiding it again.
"You didn't get out of teaching me about the Terrors." She answered finally, picking now as the perfect time to break the silence between them. It wasn't going to stop her from joining TRS, however. She held a smile on her face, "If it makes you feel any better, you've been promoted as my hero." She jokes, trying to cheer him up, seeing as she wasn't one for being saved but she was always grateful when he stepped in to help her anyway. Though he had been acting her hero this whole time, it seemed appropriate to give him the title anyway. There was nothing a hero loved hearing more than being seen by their actions, she believed Fritz wasn't any different and if he was, she'd take the pleasure of seeing how far she could go with giving him flattering until he gave in from possible embarrassment in the near future.
The current situation was causing Fritz extreme amounts of concerns, but it was barely displayed on his face. Irritation was evident, but the worry intermingled with the expression upon his face. There was a soft appearance in the reaper's blue eyes, the amount of concern obvious there. Otherwise, his countenance maintained an annoyed look to it because of Vashti's stubbornness. The pressure of two jobs caused by the horrendous scenes witnessed, emotional tolls from informing the victims families, the sorrow from losing familiar faces then there was naturally the exhaustion of the works' nature. It caused the hunter to be in dismay over the brunette's decision to suddenly join the TRS. An eye roll was Fritz's response to Vashti correction about loving danger; rescuing her from harm numerous times caused him to doubt that entirely.
"It never feels like you are trying to avoid it," the reaper responded with a sigh. "I have had to save you from so many times that I have lost count."
It seemed evident that Vashti had no intentions of releasing him, but no efforts were taken to forcing the brunette to let him go. These hugging moments were no longer a bother to Fritz and he found himself outright rebuking against them less as days went on since a mild comfort arrived from them. At least if Vashti had her arms wrapped around him, he could be assured she was safe. When his friend stated that he would still retain the duty of teaching her about terrors, a gentle sigh escaped his lips; the bargain towards attempting to make her desire the second job less was clearly not going to be accomplished. At the mentioning of the hero promotion Fritz offered a shrug as a portion of his answer.
"I thought I was already your hero. Still can't remember how many times I have saved you," he responded quietly.
Mentioning the amount of times the warrior was required to rescue Vashti always reminded him of the numerous occasions his friend managed to launch herself into some form of trouble. Although, even heroes could not obtain perfection and Fritz was aware of the concept giving the days far in the past; those old days of glory. Momentarily, a sorrowful gleam trailed across the hero's eyes before fleeing swiftly in hopes of going unnoticed. A sigh slipped through his lips as Fritz's blue eyes glanced at Vashti.
"You are crazy for taking two high-stress jobs, you know that? It will be exhausting," Fritz stated.
The statement was a final attempt to push the brunette away from this concept of taking a second job. Silently, the hero prayed for the success of his scheme, but he remained skeptical considering Vashti's stubbornness; she was practically famous for her strong-willed attitude to him.
Vashti couldn't help but give him a friendly smile, it just felt like he was being somewhat submissive as if she had wont the argument, not that getting two jobs was a good thing but it did give him a chance to remember how important she was to him as he was very important to her. It was also a slight pay back for calling her citizen when she tried her hardest to save lives just as much as him, despite not being nearly as old or experienced with fighting as if she would always need saving. There was nothing she wanted more than to be able to save him at least once in her life time, though there would be a small price to pay if she succeed, a risk of not being saved in return. "I guess your right, I tend to dive right into it...." She commented, that wouldn't change her mind about taking the second job, however, if he hadn't allowed her so much freetime on her hands she wouldn't have likely been determined in getting a second job in the first place.
Thankfully Fritz allowed her to continue hugging him, it gave her great comfort in having her arms around him even if he didn't return the gesture. Once more the smile was on her face when he made his comment back to her about being her hero. "If that were true, you'd be glued to me twenty four seven. She giggled at the idea of having Fritz with her, it didn't matter how many times he frustrated her, she still was crushing on him, still cared about his well being. She had leaned back, hoping Fritz having a chance to see her smile would cheer him up, but instead she saw a sorrowful gleam across his face instead, it broke her heart to see him looking like that, but it was quickly gone. You can't hide your feelings from me, Fritz. He was looking back at her, making his comment. Once more she just smiled at him, maybe this time her smile will cheer him up, even if only by a little bit. "Impossible! A realistic person would take on the second job when they have too much time on their hands." She joked, I have to remind myself again why I still plan on going through with this? I mean I don't mind the fact that I'm already struggling to sleep at night, but the fact that I'll be on the go with two different jobs..... He has a point.
The last thing she wanted was for him to read her thoughts though. You know what.... I'll tell you what.... The day you decide I'm worth the time to be in a relationship with, is the day I drop one or both of my jobs. She couldn't help but shake her head slightly, As if that would ever happen though, I mean I already have been waiting so long.... but a girl can still hope. She thought to herself, blushing slightly at the idea of Fritz taking an interest in her.
There was familiarity in Vashti wrapping her arms around him. It had developed into a mysterious comfort, although, ultimately Fritz's preference remained in maintaining personal space. Yet, instead of squirming he allowed his brunette friend to enjoy the moment. As minutes ticked by, the reaper was gradually growing restless and desiring his freedom from Vashti arms, but no action was taken towards his wanting. When Vashti admitted to her recklessness, it concerned the hero mildly since it confirmed that the brunette was aware of her behavior. The admittance suggested the possibility of knowing the danger in the various reckless actions she would take. Although, Fritz was similar considering his personal consent to self-sacrifice in order to allow the lives of others to hopefully maintain a form of happiness.
"You guess? You know I am right, Vashti," the reaper responded, punctuating it with a sigh.
The amount of rash decision making on his friend's part always brought worry for the reaper. There were numerous time himself and Vashti would participate in arguments with one another, but the warrior still cared about his friend. All of the reckless moments of endangerment were always concerning, especially since the reaper did not desire to lose the last significant person he possessed in his life. The loss of everybody dear had already drew him closer to the edge, narrowly allowing him to carry on until he discovered newfound purpose in protecting the innocent. At the mentioning o being stuck to Vashti 24/7, Fritz merely sighed in response.
"I basically am considering how many times you need to be saved," he responded quietly.
The reckless behaviours that Vashti had always seemed to beckon him the instant she managed to get into a dangerous situation. A majority of people claimed it to be some supernatural force, oftentimes soulmate senses, meanwhile, Fritz merely stated it was luck. In his eyes there was no other explanation and thus had long accepted it was good fortune that he was capable of keeping his remaining friend safe. The additional giggle failed to pull the reaper out of the negative thoughts that clouded his head about what would occur if he were to fail. Should that happen, he would find himself returning towards the friendless and lonesome path he walked those years after his pack of mercenaries disbanded. Concerns were pushed aside when Vashti grinned at him and stated it was impossible for her to reach the pits of exhaustion. A gently sigh escaped the hero's lips over the concept.
"Everybody has a breaking point. It's best if you learn yours sooner than later," he stated. "Anyways, can you let go of me now? I still have some work around here to finish up and it's best if I get it done soon."
Shortly after the asking for his release, Fritz squirmed slightly in Vashti's grip. As it currently stood, he needed to accomplish another quick sweep of the area to make certain all terrors were eradicated before radioing in about the incident and explaining the proceedings before returning to base. There was always that chance a scout had spotted the disguiser and reported it without realization of the reaper working in the area.
Vashti wasn't going to continue the argument with him anymore, what was done was done. For now she would relax in the idea that she had won it in the first place. As for him having to figure out how many times he had to save her, she would allow him to figure that out by himself. Seeing as she wasn't ready to admit that he seemed to do it at least four out the ten times she got in a fight with somebody which happened to be more than once a day. She looked at Fritz, glad that she still had the chance to have the hug last longer as he gave advice about breaking points. Oh my dear Fritz. I'm pretty sure I found my breaking point, but it won't stop me from trying to overcome it. She thought to herself, feeling confident in her choice in having both jobs. Besides they were soulmates, it meant if she needed saving Fritz was bound to save her right? If not, than she was foolish for believing in such a thing in the first place. She sighed when Fritz requested for her to let go of him, she hesitated because hugging Fritz was too much fun, besides him squirming was somewhat enjoyable when he never gave her the time of day.
She let go of him a few minutes later. "Yeah, I wouldn't want to hold you up from finishing your task." She answered with a grin on her face. "I have to report back too, than later I plan on going to TRS to get signed up for training." She wasn't going to keep that fact from Fritz. "So I'll see you later." The comment wasn't a suggestion, the likely hood of him seeing her later was a high possibility if he planned on trying once more to convince her out of it. She slowly moved away from him to get into her car, opening it before standing by the door to get inside. "You know.... if I had known it was going to be like this two hundred years ago, I would have joined TRS a long time ago." A grin on her face she added, "Maybe if I should search around to see if anybody has a power for time travel, I can join TRS when I'm younger." Of course she wouldn't do it, or at least she kept telling herself that. She slowly took a seat in the Police car, preparing to drive back off. "Be safe now Fritz. I won't be pleased if anything happens to you." That was a promise, if anything happened to him, any chance of her avoiding both jobs would be lost. She reached out to pull the door closed, planning on driving back to the Police station to report in.
Attempting to sway Vashti's stubborn mind was always a particularly difficult task for Fritz to accomplish. As time continued onward, it was becoming increasingly obvious that the brunette has zero intentions of heeding his words. Trying to convince her away from the extremely stressful scenario was likely impossible until possibly the future where limits could be tested and display openly in front of his friend. The thought caused a soft sigh to escape his lips, hints of a worry tone gracing it. The lack of answer on Vashti's end could mean numerous conclusions and Fritz was not completely certain he wanted to discover them currently; he was fairly certain he already knew the answer anyways. There was hesitation in his friend's release, her arms drawing away and granting him freedom.
Once released, the reaper took a few steps back for personal room in hopes of not being roped into a second hug. There was work to accomplish which made the hunter wary about remaining too close to Vashti. After a few moments, he turned away with intentions of giving a swift farewell while he took his leave. Hearing that his presumption was correct about Vashti joining the TRS caused another sigh to be released, although, this time inaudible.
"See you later, and try not to work too hard," the reaper responded in a worried tone.
There was genuine concern over Vashti's health, but Fritz knew that attempting to convince her was impossible currently. Patience was required and proper timing for informing the brunette about the dangers of her two jobs concept for a chance of warding her away from the idea. Once again his blue eyes turned towards the dark house which brought vibes of a haunting loneliness with the absence of its master. Finding the true owner was another matter that would require investigations from the scouting division. The reaper took a couple of steps forward, but halted when he heard what Vashti was saying which caused him to turn around quickly.
"WHAT?! DON'T YOU DARE! I AM NOT ALLOWING YOU TO DO THAT!" Fritz shouted, flinching upon realizing the volume of his voice.
Silently, the warrior watched his friend leave and listed to her final farewell. Sighing once more, Fritz turned away and rested his blue eyes on the house. He needed to do a final survey to make certain all darkness in the present area was eradicated then radio headquarters and explain the situation. When a route for sweeping the area, the hunter set out with determination to complete his mission.
