Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Why did it feel like his heart was in his throat. His skin was tingling, and he was entirely on edge. What he was doing was reckless, idiotic even by his standards. What could have possibly convinced him that signing up for a blind date could have been fun. Well he knew why, sure. He was just looking for some… company. To say the least. Yet why in God's name had he written down his actual preference.
It was fine, it was all going to be fine. The event was run by the TRS. The likelihood of running into any other assembly members was minimal. And he himself wasn't really on the trs's radar. Mostly due in part to the fact he didn't run around causing chaos like most of the other members. Yet he still had to take precautions. He had managed to track down someone proficient with hexes to give him at least a basic disguise. His hair changing to blond, and his facial features changing in just the slightest way to keep him from being noticed. It wasn't easy finding them though. As he had to work outside of the assembly, lest they figure out what he was up to.
Finally the time had come for the event to begin, and Kari found himself standing there outside. Staring up at the building as people rushed inside, ready to find their love. The notion making him gag slightly. After all, he was only here for fun. He stepped inside and took a few moments to waltz around. Snagging horderves off trays, as well as a flute of champagne. Before finally finding his way toward the table assigned to him. Luckily enough he found it empty for the time being. The Raven haired man promptly taking his seat.
Haku knew that so far no assignments had been given out to them, leaving him to be rather bored at home, so he chose to leave and found out about the blind date event taking place. Finding another person with a hex wasn't too difficult, having plenty of AP members below him, he was able to get a hex disguise with very little effort. As soon as they were finished he went on his way to sign up. Then he lingered nearby, curious on who else would be signing up for this event. A few hours before the time arrived he went home to freshen up before heading to the restaurant. He was lead to his table and had taken notice of a blond sitting there, of course with that hex, it made him wonder if it was truly Kari under there, if so... he saw no reason not to have a little bit of fun with him while he was here.
He was lead to the table before taking a seat, unlike Kari, his hex had made him appear like a thin man with brown hair. His outfit was that of a dress shirt with slacks, though his hair was messy as if he had been rushing when preparing it or had done that hair style on purpose. "So you're here to see what happens too, hmmm?" He asked, clearly amused and hopeful that if this was Kari he'd be as entertaining as he had been the last time, if not, a possible new entertainment for the evening.
Kari sipped champagne, stuffed crackers into his mouth. Really anything to try and calm his nerves as he sat there. Sure there was the pressure of the date. But there was also the fact that he was surrounded by TRS members. Some of them likely dressed normally, but there were still a few posted up in their uniforms. Running security for the evening. It made his skin crawl a little, the idea of being so close to his apparent enemy. It wasn't like he had any bad blood with the TRS. He hadn't really even had any run-ins with them either. But it seemed that hating each other came with the job title of assembly soldier. Whether he liked it or not.
Luckily however there was something to take his mind off of it for the time being. As a calm voice chimed in from across the table. Turning his head he cast a quick glance up and down the slender fellow. A soft scoff escaping his lips as he finished. "I suppose so." He said somewhat coldly. His eyes drifting back off toward the sea of tables. "Though if that's your best pick-up line, I suggest you try harder." He said with a slight bit of challenge to his voice.
Haku watched as Kari looked him up and down, he chuckled when he heard him scoff. Seems they were in agreement about something, though he didn't have proof it was Kari, he sure looked like him. Kari wouldn't look half bad with blond hair, though he liked his natural hair color more. "Oh, lets see what I can come up with then..." He answered, seeming to ponder it before answering him once more. "It must have hurt when you fell from heaven." He answered, smug grin on his face before adding, "Or are you so fucking hot because you climbed out of hell?" He asked, curious on what Kari would do about his pick up line this time. He didn't regret the flirting, finding it coming naturally, unaware that it was because he wanted more than just entertainment from Kari, despite having said it prior.
Kari couldn't help but continue to lazily stare out into the crowd. Acting rather oblivious to the man who had taken a seat at his table. It wasn't like the fellow wasn't cute. He was tall, slender. And his somewhat unkempt hair made him wonder if perhaps the man did have a playful side. Though, the stranger had already lost points with his introduction. After all, Kari wasn't the kind to roll over just for anyone. He preferred someone with a bit of fire, some fight to them. And this man had clearly not demonstrated any sort of chase that the young man was seeking. He just seemed like anyone else in the room, just some hopeless romantic. That is, until he began to speak up.
At his notion of trying again Kari's brow rose slightly. His eyes shifted to glance over his shoulder at the man. Yet his next pick-up line was anything but expected. Even causing a small grin to cross Kari's lips. "Well now, that's better." He said, turning softly in his chair to face the man. "So tell me… pickup artist. What's your name?"
Haku couldn't help but feel pleased to see Kari's brow raised as he glanced at him, giving his comment only to gain a grin across Kari's lips. He chuckled when he heard Kari's comment, figuring that one might work. Kari had turned in his chair to face him, calling him a nickname that he didn't mind before asking what his name was. Slowly he leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table as he clasped his hands together before resting his chin on top of it. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." He answered in a playful manner. "Though pickup artist has a nice ring to it." He answered, not at all bothered by the nickname. I am still curious if this is Kari or not... I mean if it isn't, I may have found myself extra entertainment for later. He answered, knowing he for one had placed a fake name down. The real question was, the name Kari placed down and if the person who took him to his seat was correct on the name or not, since anybody, could be wearing a hex, he was an example to this fact.
Watching as the man slowly began to become more comfortable with the situation Kari couldn't help but get an odd feeling from the man. This sudden boost of confidence, somewhat of a gleam in the man's eyes. As if he was just hunting prey. It almost seemed…. Familiar. Yet little could be said differently about himself. He knew why he was here. He knew exactly what he wanted. And perhaps.. if the fellow was of the same mindset. They could come to an.. agreement of sorts.
Kari lazily reached forward, snapping up the champagne flute from the table and taking a slow sip. His eyes still glacing the man up and down for a moment. As if deciding whether or not divulging such information would be worth it. Finally he seemed to make his decision, setting the glass down gently and speaking. "Kari." He said calmly. After all, he had used his real name for the sign up. Yet after he announced his name the young man stood up from the table. Giving the flirtatious man a slight nod as he did so.
Without a word Kari started walking. Making his way through the tables toward the far end of the building. As he reached the wall he stopped just before a small hallway with a set of doors at the end. The restrooms to be more precise. And he cast a glance over his shoulder. Back toward the table. He gave the man another small nod. Beckoning him to follow. Before he stepped down the hall and through the men's room door.
Haku watched Kari take a drink, noticing that he was still looking at him up and down. If only he could confirm who this guy was, then he'd know what action he'd like to take with him. He heard Kari give his name out before he gave the fake alias that he had written down on the sign up sheet. Even if he wanted too, he couldn't just go telling Kari who he was, not when he was under cover trying to gather information about the TRS for AP. Kari stood up from the table, giving a flirtatious nod before he started walking away. Where are you going? He thought to himself as he looked back towards Kari. The good thing about Kari not knowing it was him is that it gave him a chance to see all of his colors, the bad thing, should he be attacked that would be bad on Kari, despite not giving a heads up warning. Kari stopped near the wall that lead down to a hallway, looking back towards him before nodding as if beckoning him to follow. Might as well. He thought to himself as he slowly stood up from the table to follow Kari into the bathroom.
'Fuck it, I need this..' Kari thought to himself as he stepped down the hall. One hand reaching up to loosen his collar. 'If only this wasn't some damned city event.'
As calm as kari was acting he had to admit he was feeling quite anxious about the whole situation he had created. Sure it was his idea, but that didn't stop his heart from racing as he stepped into the bathroom. As the door shut behind him he stood there quietly. Listening to make sure no one was in any of the stalls. Glancing around to check for anyone standing at the sinks. A soft grin crossed his lips as he confirmed the place was indeed free of anyone that may intrude. And then he took up his position behind the door. Leaning against the wall and letting out a sigh he prepared for his date to follow him in. Or.. perhaps even someone else. At this point he wasn't being too choosy, he only had one thing on his mind.
When the door began to open kari wasted little time reaching around the frame and snatching the man by the shoulder. With one Swift motion he was practically on top of the man. Spinning to wrap himself around his dates front to press him up against the now closed door. "Glad to see it was you that followed." He said with a chuckle, pressing himself closer. "Now.. we both know why we came don't we? I mean.. can't we just skip all that formal nonsense?" As he spoke he slowly nudged one leg in-between Haku's own, prying them apart slowly. "Unless perhaps? That fight you showed before was more bark than bite?"
Haku had opened the door to the bathroom, unsure of what to expect even though he had a pretty good idea of what might happen should he go into the bathroom. Thoughts swarmed in his mind about how he wanted this, but he wasn't sure why he wanted this. His whole life had been all about business and never pleasure but upon meeting Kari he had decided that he wanted entertainment from him but as it stood right now, this is what he wanted the most from him. Kari had reached out to grab his shoulder, in one swift moment Kari was on top of him, having wrapped around him as his back pressed against the now closed door. He took in the appearance of Kari, having noticed that he had loosened his collar. He couldn't help but smirk slightly when Kari admitted that he was glad to see he had followed him inside of here.
It was pleasing to feel Kari so close against him. Skip all the formal nonsense? Maybe... I mean I came for entertainment and happened to come across you. However, I can't help but wish you knew who I was before we proceeded with this. He thought to himself, somewhat in regret of wearing a hex and giving a fake name to Kari. He was pulled from his thoughts when Kari had nudged a leg between his own, making him desire Kari even more. The comment Kari gave him came as a surprise and he found himself pulling Kari closer to him. "I ensure you, it wasn't a bark. I only bite." He answered in return before attempting to kiss Kari on the lips, to him it seemed Kari was looking for a fling. He decided to take a chance and see what would happen himself.
Having the man pinned there all Kari could do was smirk. His mind filled with devious thoughts. He could feel the man's chest rise and fall under his weight. Though strangely enough it was remarkably calm for someone in his situation. It was a little elevated, sure. But nothing like one would expect from someone who had just been forcibly restrained. It was curious to say the least.
But he didn't get to dwell on it long. Nor did he really want too. He was too engrossed in the moment, caught up with much more… primal problems. As the man began speaking Kari let out a small chuckle. Finding the man's comment rather amusing. After all, the fellow didn't even know what he was capable of. Or at least.. Kari thought he didn't. Glancing upward at him Kari's lips parted slightly as he prepared to reply. Only for Haku to shoot forward, locking their lips for only a moment. The sudden action took the young man by surprise though. Causing him to loosen his grip for only a moment. "What the hell was that for?" He said, slightly annoyed.
He yanked the man off of the wall glaring at him. "Get this straight. This is just an arrangement, I don't know you, you don't know me.." He said dragging the man toward one of the stalls. As he reached the booth at the far end he casually kicked the door open. With a Swift motion he shoved the man in backwards. Forcing him to take a seat on the toilet, as Kari took a seat on his lap. Facing toward the man. "So just give me what I want, and we can both go back to our lives."
Haku couldn't help but find Kari adorable as he was smirking at him, all because he had been pinned. Right at the moment he didn't mind because he was going to get what he wanted too. Though he wasn't used to such feelings and found himself somewhat conflicted with the idea that Kari was likely about to do with him but at the same time couldn't help but desire it to proceed. It seemed in his attempt to kiss Kari, he had interrupted what he likely would have wanted to say, it was too bad, the kiss was too much of a temptation to pass up. Kari loosened his grip before asking his question. "To test the waters." He answered in an honest tone, knowing fully well that Kari was capable but so was he. Kari yanked him off the wall, he allowed it as he listened to Kari speaking to him.
Such a dare devil, if only you knew who you were talking too. He thought to himself as he smirked, through Kari's comment, despite the glaring he was receiving. Wrong, we do know each other. He thought to himself, as he allowed Kari to drag him towards one of the stalls, Kari kicked the door open and shoved him inside, forcing him to sit on the toilet. "Oh.... so forceful..." He teased in a playful manner as Kari took a seat on his lap. "Go back to our lives after I give you what you want?" He asked, smug grin before adding, "On one condition." He'd reach behind Kari to lock the stall door before placing his hands on his hips. "Depending on your answer, will depend on what happens next."
